The Official WWE / NXT Discussion Thread *May Contain Spoilers*

My buddies and I were discussing adding a new title that's interbrand called the WWE Network Championship(essentially a rebooted TV title) where it can be defended on any show that appears on the WWE Network(NXT, 205 Live, and whatever other B and C shows they have currently). It'd be openweight and it'd be a good way to transition workers from NXT to the main roster.

Just make the stipulation that it has to be defended on every week/fortnight/month on either Raw, Smackdown, 205 Live or Main Event.

But I have to say from a bookers standpoint I really like his style.

Is it a bit dark of me to wait to watch RAW when I'm confident Vince doesn't have his hand in the cookie jar anymore? The only downside I see to HHH taking full control as a CM Punk return would grow more unlikely.

Watching last night's RAW... while NJPW is going to dominate the talk for match of the year things, Braun and Elias just had an awesome segment that could be the best segment of the year so far. Braun looks like he's going to dominate that by himself as he seems to always have something to do that is just awesome... and the crowd were insanely loud for Elias again too, which is something I never saw coming. He's come a long way and his stuff is really entertaining in a way that never seemed to work that well in NXT... kudos to creative sticking by him so far too, though obviously he has a major hand in his gimmick since he's the one playing the songs.

So yeah... check out Braun and Elias if you can. It's worth it. :)

Plus Strowman eventually shows his flaws in the ring when not in multi men matches or not protected to some degree.

Elias went from NXT jobber lucky to still have a job to getting a huge reaction every week on Raw.

Braun is one of most fast-improving wrestlers in the last 2 years in WWE and he gets some of more entertaining and creative segments. While I would have preferred Braun beat Brock at this year's Mania, I'd be happy enough if he were the one to topple Reigns at next year's Mania.

It should be the #1 smash hit, since the record is t"Get These Hands." :D

That was a funny segment. I did like it. I'm not saying their bad by any means, they do have some entertaining stuff, i'm just not sold on them yet. Doesn't mean it won't happen.

Getting caught up on 205 Live with the tournament.

Drake Maverick might be a terrible name, but at least it’s better than Rockstar Spud.

Quite enjoyable so far though.

I wish Tozawa would have beaten Mark Andrews though. If only so I didn’t have to hear his terrible entrance music until after the tournament. Generic pop punk needs to all just go away.

Super hopeful Gentleman Jack actually wrestles in gear.

This is the first time I’ve seen Gulak in awhile. He needs knee pads, but his gear is nice.

*EDIT*

OH MY GOD THIS IS AWESOME

The gauntlet match was too long but it was perfectly booked. Now I really want Rollins to win the Elimination Chamber and have Reigns turn heel to get into the match with Lesnar where he can still win. But Rollins will be stuck wrestling Angle or something. Best case scenario Undertaker can't make Mania and we get Rollins vs Cena instead.

Hard to compare to TEW. 2nd hour of Raw is usually the real main event because they know the ratings suffer in the 3rd hour. This unusual Raw had the main event take up the entire 1st 2 hours followed by Titus/Bar cool-down match and Women's tag match as the 3rd hour semi-main event.

I don't really understand perfect show theory. I was looking back at a WM from a few years back and it had the top 3 matches, all going twenty minutes plus in the last three slots. Did this burn the crowd out?

Are you talking about Wrestlemania 29?

If so, yeah, there was burn out. There was little filler breaking up all the action and it made the show drag.

Undertaker and CM Punk put on a great match.

Lesnar and Triple H had a fun brawl.

Cena and Rock had a good-ish match, but watching them all in a row makes Cena and Rock's match suffer and not just because the previous two matches were just better, but also because by the time Rock and Cena started, the audience had already been on two insane rollercoasters of matches and had no chance to recollect themselves to really enjoy the main event.

Thanks for the response, just checked, yes, that's the one. OK, fair enough, what about 19?

Shawn Michaels defeated Chris Jericho 22:34

Triple H © (with Ric Flair) defeated Booker T 18:45

Hulk Hogan defeated Mr. McMahon 20:47

The Rock defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin Singles match 17:55

Brock Lesnar defeated Kurt Angle © 21:07

I'd argue that Hogan and McMahon was purposely placed between the two sets of matches as a cool down. Yes, it was 20 minutes long, but it sucked and they knew it'd suck so they put it where it'd break up a chunk of the better matches on the card.

People are also vastly underrating the amount of video packages and other things between matches. It’s quite easy to have multiple A level matches in succession as long as there are segments between them to give the crowd time to calm down. Make use of pre match videos, special entrances, etc (just like real life)

In real life, a G1 show is probably the only time you get ridiculously great matches back to back with no buffer but even then that’s also possible in TEW
