They desperately need to pull that belt off of him and Reigns is definitely not the right guy to do it (he needs to be pulled off TV and refreshed). If they want a Hoss champion then why not Strowman or Somoa Joe? Either guy would be a believable opponent for Brock to lose to. Well I certainly agree with you there. Brock probably doesn't need the belt at this point anyway, he'll likely be a draw as a special attraction regardless of whether or not he's a champion. Putting the belt on Strowman or Samoa Joe on the other hand, that could make them WWE's next big star. As for Reigns if they de-push him for awhile then turn him heel that might be enough to salvage him, it worked for the Rock after his less then loved first couple years as Rocky Miavia after all. milamber Posted May 7, 2018 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Backlash: Bayley vs Ruby - Solid match aside from a couple of sloppy spots. Miz vs Rollins © - Great match. Bliss vs Nia © - Solid match. Bliss has looked better since she stopped whiffing her bumps. Nia needs to study big female wrestlers like Viper, Mary Apache and Jordan Grayce to learn some new moves. Big Show probably has a bigger moveset. Orton vs Hardy© - Solid match. Bryan vs Cass - Solid match. I expected Cass to lose via intentional DQ. Charlotte vs Carmella© - Solid match. Nakamura vs Styles © - Great match. Don't mind the finish so long as the final match is good. Braun & Lashley vs Zayn & Owens - Fun tag match but it's inclusion just made the PPV longer than necessary. Joe vs Reigns - Good match, terrible booking decision to have Roman win. Roman another big match would have made for a better storyline and Joe now heads to Smackdown with a big loss. Verdict: Average PPV. 3 good matches but the rest were TV quality. Why give us a no dq match and still morning have winner? Garbage. Joe vs Roman was decent, but hey let’s ruin another match with a garbage finish! Sure seems to be headed that way. Don't mind the finish because it follows the story, and Roman has been getting roasted by Joe (after getting punked by Lesnar and losing at WM). So whatever. That said, the match quickly ranks at the bottom of the 3 when you factor in the finish. I'm not usually one to complain about a non-finish but come on seriously, after everything those 2 went through neither can get back up after getting kicked in the junk? I feel like WWE is booking themselves into a corner with how this feud is playing out and keeping the belt on AJ, but maybe I'm not seeing the biggest picture. The start was awesome with Miz vs Rollins and Alexa vs Nia with some nice storytelling and/or drama on both.The others were decent too, except Carmella vs Charlotte, which was borderline horrible. Crappy finish (the knee injury was done well on Miz vs Rollins but here it made no sense. Like you can't kick out of a frickin' rollup when you "blew your knee out"?!). Along with the botches and annoying screaming and rest holds, even Charlotte couldn't save the match, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. The segment was kinda how I book my TEW segments: mash some superstars together with no purpose or plan and hope for fun interactions. Luckily Elias was good enough to make it work but the others got little to gain. And sure, Styles vs Nakamura wasn't as great as it could've been. Maybe they just didn't want to risk beachballs during Reigns' match. There should be enough matchups in the future they can place better. I think it should have ended with AJ winning and moving on to Samoa Joe, who seems likely to be the next contender and most likely champion, but no one can be certain when it comes to Vince and his plans. I don't think that at this point a Nakamura win would have made sense, especially after the buildup to this match. And because that would mean a 4th match with AJ or even a triple threath with someone else, probably Joe, which doesn't seem the best way to go. If they wanted the strap on him they should have pulled the trigger at Saudi Arabia. But then again, as you say, we might be failing to see the bigger picture, especially since we don't know what is to come. Overall the show was entertaining, which is the most important (with entertaining matches for the most part) and I was surprised with the Jax/Bliss match. Bliss (of all people) carried Nia to an entertaining and dramatic match (note that it doesn't mean technically good) but I pray to the gods that Nia loses that belt A.S.A.P. Just a few years ago I handled selling her merch at a show along with Amazing N8 Mattson's and The Bearded Dragons(my brother and best friend's tag team). Ruby/Heidi was legit kind and very cool.
