Ronda getting booed on Raw was disappointing. I know everyone wants Becky to beat her at Mania (I certainly do) but Ronda has been consistently good and sometimes great in the ring. OK the first promo was bad but she handled the rough crowd well enough and the promo on Becky at the end was great. She even seemed to go off script with the "kill" line.

I've never understood the hate to be honest. I get that she's suffering from the "Roman Reigns effect" in that it's considered that she's given a push that others deserve more, but they're not in any way similar in my opinion. Reigns wasn't/isn't strong enough to carry the position whereas Rousey has come in and done nothing but prove that she is. She has that legitimate background, has a solid (if not yet wide enough) offence and - what I probably like most about her - she sells better than almost anyone else in the women's business today. Sure, there are other women who deserve such a push but I say get behind her and let her do her thing until such time (possibly at 'Mania with Becky Lynch) she gives someone else the rub of the green.

It must be frustrating for the other top women that Ronda might be getting this treatment but honestly she's truly stepped up and arguably deserves it given she came in with "unfair" mainstream popularity, which is what Mania prioritizes. Unlike Roman - though he does his best - Ronda really has a feel for the business or at least has improved a whole lot more. A true heel turn however would make her embrace the heat more and she'd be a finer heel indeed given she already looks and acts the part lately (just cut down on the entrance handshakes and you have a heel here). She has the work ethic and character to truly commit to this role, and with a potential main event on the horizon she will not let this opportunity slip, I promise you that...

And it's pretty clear now they are going with the potential women's main event here to complete their "first ever" series, and this Mania would be the only chance of it happening at this level of interest. No way that this can drag on for another 14 months and add anything substantial. They have two months to spark some more mainstream interest and you're set for a stellar main event that will go far beyond what any potential Brock main event can deliver. Becky seems easily capable to ride the overness wave for two more months and Rousey will be Rousey and will only get better.

I first voiced a minor complaint concerning the "comedy" moments in the men's rumble but given that the women's rumble had a few, and Jarrett was great, it didn't really need to have more comedy. Good that they cut down on surprise entrants for once. This way they had a LOT more impact instead of a forgettable return. Especially the NXT entrants could use the hype. Plus it's just frustrating to such a huge roster that some washed-up worker is getting the spotlight. So again: great booking in general.

Wrestling is based on having good and bad guys. </p><p> </p><p> Ronda is a UFC star who has run through the entire women’s division in 12 months. At this point Ronda represents everyone who calls out wrestling as fake BS. When Becky takes her on she’ll be defending that. </p><p> </p><p> Whether that’s the feud they run with or not that’s still the stakes. Hence WWE fans naturally be drawn to booing Ronda.</p>

It's not Dean leaving that's bizarre (I completely understand his decision) but what's bizarre to me is WWE confirming it. Even when rumours are 100% guaranteed by multiple sources, the 'E keep their cards close to their chest. It puts themselves and Dean in a very strange position booking wise. The only thing I can think of is that they're actually annoyed with Dean and they've put it out there in hopes the "WWE Universe" will turn on him or understand when they bury him in the ground over the next couple of months. Like I say, it's just bizarre...</p>

<p>No, I honestly can't see him going to AEW either. I think the people behind AEW (particularly Cody) are smarter than what TNA were when they started out; they're only going to hire people that fit their product and not sign people based on their employment history. And, for me, Ambrose doesn't fit their product and he'd probably end up fulfilling the same role in AEW that he has been doing in the 'E for the past few years. I also think Ambrose is smart and wily enough to realise this too and instead do select dates elsewhere. I can even see him working for Impact ahead of AEW because it's giving people like him (and not to mention Sami Callihan who is already playing games on Twitter) a chance to show what they've got without too many restrictions.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't know if I imagined this, but I'm pretty sure he decided he was done with deathmatch wrestling which is why he signed with WWE in the first place so I can't envisage him doing many (if any) deathmatches. I can certainly see him returning to some of his old stomping grounds though, most notably CZW which has seen a little bit of a renaissance in the last few years. </p><p> </p><p>

It'll be interesting to see what they do with Renee Young after her "push" to the announcers table too; I'd like to think they'll be professional and treat her differently despite her being married to someone who has upset them but the 'E have proven countless times before that they hold grudges with the person who hurt them and their entire family. xD</p>

<p>Highly doubt Dean takes part in any deathmatches. He’s “above” them now so to speak.</p><p> </p><p>

Dean hasn’t been interesting since the original Shield split up. Hoping he finds some sort of motivation or character wherever he ends up.</p><p> </p><p>

I think he’s just as much to blame for his booking as creative is. He never looks motivated.</p>

The doesn't care attitude, the loose canon, the lunatic, etc. To say WWE isn't to blame for how they portray one of their characters is borderline ignorant. He had a good run as WWE champion and his interview with Austin on the Network was excellent. He's bored and tired of being second string. They need to get the belt off Lesnar and never put it on him again. He is literally killing every young talent without even doing anything himself.</p>

He hasn’t looked motivated or like he even cared about being on tv. He’s looked bored, not crazy, not a loose cannon, he looks and acts bored. Can’t blame the company for that.</p>

I have no insight but just playing devils advocate here. What if the company was constantly shooting down his ideas? Maybe he wants to be more cutting edge and more "rated r" but they keep shooting down his ideas and making his character more PG. He could just keep getting frustrated over and over to the point he just gives up. It happens. I am not putting the blame on anyone. I think he was off injured and not wrestling for the first time in basically his adult life and realized there is life away from wrestling. He has money in the bank and seems to live a quiet life that will allow that money to stretch. I can see him taking a few years off and then coming back to WWE or I could see him signing with AEW for a couple shows a month or whatever they are going to run. That full time WWE life of basically 5 days a week has to be brutal

You can be cutting edge without being rated r. Rated R doesn't mean it's good. If someone can't be good within the confines of their company's product, are they any good to begin with?

Also, Cody Rhodes was saddled with a gimmick he didn't want and still put 110% into it.

I want to enjoy Dean, but him nor WWE give you a reason to enjoy his work.

I don't think it's a work, I think they're controlling the story. Imagine if they didn't report it and then we get the whole is he leaving? is he staying? what's going on with Dean? rubbish for the next bloody eight weeks or so. They tour the UK in May and fans would have bought tickets expecting to see Dean only for him to disappear in April. Good on them for announcing it and drawing a line under it.

With regards his reasons for leaving, he's wacky Dean Ambrose with the wacky line! I'm pretty sure he's always wanted to be taken more seriously but the creative he gets given just gets increasingly hokey. The latest stuff post-Heel turn has been the absolute worst of his career.

<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">NXT</span></p><p> </p><p>

- Opening segment was hype. I like Gargano's new swagger. Dream must have the most extensive wardrobe of any wrestler in the world. I can see Ciampa getting involved in the Dream vs Gargano match.</p><p>

- I love NXT backstage segments.</p><p>

- Bugenhagen is a riot and the perfect opponent for straight man Gulak. Ben Stiller from Dodgeball LOL.</p><p>

- Gulak/Riddle EVOLVE reunion match was great. They even did the Catch Point handshake.</p><p>

- Bianca & The Sky Pirates vs Shayna & Friends was fun. Despite some bad reports Marina and Duke are decent enough to be carried. Seeds planted for a Bianca vs Io #1 Contender match.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">NXT UK</span></p><p> </p><p>

Andrews vs El Ligero, WALTER squash and Xia vs Candyfloss were worth watching. Jinny cut a good promo. Toni and Rhea had a scrap. The women's division is picking up.</p>

What was the deal with the Worlds Collide broadcast order? The battle royal was a Network exclusive which was aired after the YouTube stream. Same with Humbero vs Zack Gipson.

The battle royal and all of the first round matches should have been on the youtube stream. Makes no sense. Fun little throwaway tournament though Got to see some matchups we'd normally not see(Tyler Bate vs Velveteen).

I want to see all the members of New Day getting more solo action on a regular basis. Was great to see Kofi getting some love and a reminder that he's a decorated singles champion in his own right... it's hard to tell how good he is when he's mostly doing the same stuff in tag all the time. Same goes for Big E and Xavier Woods.... I know they're both good in their own ways too, so I'd love to see them get involved with the various title scenes on Smackdown instead if just being back up for whatever else needs to be done at any moment....
