The Official WWE / NXT Discussion Thread *May Contain Spoilers*

I think all of the rookies showed potential in their own unique way. Daniel Bryan was clearly the star of the show, and I expect that to be the case every week. But the guy Christian is with showed personality, the guy Jericho is with seems to have something special about him...it'll be interesting to see where they go with the Punk-not-helping-his-rookie thing. I wonder where this whole thing goes, though...one guy (the Hollywood guy, something Otunga I think) said something along the lines of "I'm going to win NXT" so apparently there's going to be some competition at some point.

I like the concept. It's kind of like a combination of Tough Enough and ECW. I'll be watching.

Don't watch a lot of WWE, the product bores me mostly. But if they keep NXT like the first episode I will be watching that every week. I thought it was very well done, Bryan was put over in a big way and Miz's interaction with him was great.

Miz the wrestler is just so/so. Not overly talented in the ring, but Miz the performer and character is freakin awesome.

Overall great first show.

- Is Punk's rookie black? Or very, very tanned? I have a wager going.

I think he is black, however (and this has been pointed out on other sites) he looks a bit like John Cena.

people keep talking about a cole "heel" turn......i don't know, i did not see a "heel" turn as just him super putting over the pro's. He was a little more one sided then before but i was expecting a full on jr heel turn or something.

It's Cole versus the Internet, "Vintage" has already removed his WWE Universe account apparently.

Just watched NXT and Daniel Bryan didn't impress at all. He actually screwed up 3 different spots in that one match. I just see no way possible for him to get over huge in WWE. He is way to small and he isn't a Chris Benoit to get over with his in ring ability alone

I watched most of the show, and I seen the whole match with Jericho... I have to say I dissagree with you, perhaps because I'm not the "Mark" of Danielson as most are, and I could see it in a more "objective" view.

I do miss ECW... Thought it was the best show WWE had, and so it's going to be very hard for me to be objective about NXT I think, as I kept thinking to myself how much better this show would have been if done in the ECW standard format instead.... Just put these same exact people on the show every week (Miz, Punk, Jericho etc.) and ECW would have had a much bigger impact on a weekly basis.

However, I will say that I didn't think I would like the show at all if it become a "Worked" reality show, and that's bassically what has happened... But it has enought "WORKED" stuff in it that it was appealing to me... One show is not enough to make a decision one way or the other yet though. I'll try and catch it as much as possible in the future and see how it goes.

NOTE: I was hoping it was going to be an actual reality show (or as much as one as could be done), with the vet's helping with promo's (not just the miz talking about a "COOL" catchphrase) and actually coming out of character to try and get their rookie to win (Drop the face/heel allignments, and just be veterans trying to get their rookie to win the NXT competition, whatever that is). I already had an opinion if it become a show acting like a reality show that I would not like it, so I'm not coming from a very objectional viewpoint (and I should have known better I guess).

Bryan's a star like Puder was a star for taking down Angle. One night alone will not a star make.

However, if Bryan continues to get airtime like he did on NXT then yes, it could happen. He does stand out in the average WWE crowd, no question, but if WWE sells it the right way that needn't be a minus.

I am curious about whether the other rookies will get the same centre stage treatment that Bryan got this week, though. I've only caught the highlight videos on wee.com, but he's all over the place.

And Cole vs. the IWC is awesome. NXT is such a smarky show concept anyway, it's the perfect place for him to do it. If he's a little less blatantly heelish I wouldn't complain, but I love the concept of him being pro-WWE, anti-internet.

I have to say that I really enjoyed NXT which surprised me. In theory it sounded horrible, but Bryan Danielson .... sorry, Daniel Bryan being the star of the show was cool and if they keep the focus on him the show will be worth watching. I didn't find the few iffy spots in his match too worrying because everything else he did looked awesome and was so refreshing after the half-speed lethargic WWE I've been barely watching for years.

As much as i have never gotten into The Miz, he is the perfect foil for a show like this. Michael Cole's heeling against the IWC was kind of annoying to me because well .... it wasn't really any different to the typical WWE attitude they've been espousing for years.

I'll be interested in checking this out again, I don't have particularly high hopes for too many of the rookies. The English guy seemed kind of entertaining but the rest don't seem that interesting but I think there will at least be some interesting moments with CM Punk mentoring the black guido John Cena goof.

<p>I just watched NxT and i thought it was pretty good as long as it is like that every week it should be quite good</p><p>

Michael Cole as a HEEL announcer <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/confused.png.d4a8e6b6eab0c67698b911fb041c0ed1.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> (may not work)</p><p>

Looking forward to see Daniel Bryan own The Miz (although i like the miz) and for Heath Slater to stop annoying me with that head thing he does</p>

That being said Danielson does have more then Benoit ever did. I mean a lot more, though to be fair Benoit was void of all charisma so that isn’t saying much.</p>

Maria?! What the hell?!

Agreed. It's one of the few divas you'd raise both eyebrows over. :p

As for the topic of Daniel Bryan, in my opinion with enough drive and commitment he can make it to the top, as cheesy as it sounds. Almost every main-event player in the 'E doesn't have all "boxes ticked", and while Bryan doesn't noticeably have the "look", I don't think it discards him automatically from a chance at achieving the top. Maybe it'll make his road more tenuous and harsh but with enough dedication, which is something pretty much all main-eventers have a box ticked for, he can make it to the big time. Maybe he'll work on his skills in the WWE and flourish from there. Already with NXT putting a great deal of focus on him is a start and since he's been wrestling in front of small crowds for 10 years, the fact that Vince is pleased with him and the amount of attention put on him will give him a solid amount of motivation to continue.
