If he didn't want someone to get over they just wouldn't use them period. He might not think he has a ceiling as high as another guy, but that's not even close to the same thing.

He has been pushed as one of the stronger members of the roster for over a decade now and has consistently been at a level only below the top 1% of the roster. There are many reasons why is may not have been pushed into that 1% but I highly doubt that he is above 98% purely because of merchandise considering that Zack Ryder broke near the top of merch sales and saw his TV success plummet pretty much instantly. Truth is that Rey makes for a much better gatekeeper type that can fluctuate and they don't have many of them. Jericho was another who did the same thing.

Instead he changed it all last minute.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiLjDD_RvIo

Just listen to these guys talk about it. The nWo was still over and Vince clearly screwed them last minute just because they were considered the WCW guys that almost put him out of business. He's done this to numerous talent that he didn't create.

The NWO wasnt still over and WCW buyrates in the dying days prove this. In fact by 2000 Hogan stopped popping a buyrate for WCW at all since Hogan-less PPVs averaged the same as ones where he wrestled singles matches. Nash and Hall's worth expired well before then as well.

And in no world do I believe Vince ever even considered Scott Hall going over Austin considering that they had Nash not work a specific program in the case that Hall famously decided to not show up. Meanwhile Austin was relatively fresh from a face turn and still STEVE AUSTIN.

I don't doubt that they said it, because they probably did to appease them, but I'm fairly certain Austin was always going over.

I always find it odd they had Triple H basically bury Jericho at Wrestlemania 18 only to have him lose to Hogan the next month. I guess Vince is/was still a giant mark for Hogan.

As for the Hall going over Austin thing, Vince probably lied so that Hall would get to Mania sober. This was the same concept that almost put him out of business and I doubt he pushes them like Nash and Hall said he promised to.

I've personally have always thought Hogan had it in his contract to get a title reign because once Taker beat him for the strap right after he won it (like a month after), Hogan went straight to the midcard on SD for months until the feud with Vince for the next year's WM while doing many jobs along the way.

The only relevant match I remember him having was the rematch against Rock at No Way Out to build the feud with Vince

That was probably Hulk's counter to Vince not giving him creative control. Which would later lead to Hulk jobbing to Angle and getting destroyed by Lesnar before taking time off and signing a entirely new contract in 2003.

Watching Main Event last night, and the crowd was SUPER HOT for Hunicara/Matadores versus The SHIELD. Seriously, you should've heard them. Reigns got big pops, and eventually big boos like a good heel SHOULD. Phillips and Saxton pimped the Wyatt/Shield match at EC a little too much for my liking, but when they focused on the actual match, their commentary on the actual match in front of them was textbook as it should be; they're a good play-by-play pair, but they would benefit from one of them (probably Saxton) being a more "traditional" color analyst type in the vein of Matt Striker.

Cameron versus Aksana (w/Alicia) was a bit (by "a bit", I really mean "a lot") more cooled down. Short and flash-finished, it was nothing special. Naomi's noticeable absence was probably a big hit to the potential crowd heat this match COULD HAVE had even as a cool-down match. All I know is, I wanna see more AJ actually defending her title more, even against the "anti-Divas" who aren't on Total Divas. The face-heel divide in the Divas division actually EXISTS and it's really felt when AJ defends the belt because she only seems to defend it lately against the Total Divas.

Kofi versus Axel was how you'd expect Kofi versus Axel, until Mark Henry came out and the crowd popped HUGE for him!

Great start to the show, middling finish.

It's difficult to read into it too much without knowing the inflection on the words and whether or not that's a direct quote, but the words 'let's just put it that way' indicate to me at least that whatever it is presumably fairly significant.

Think about it - when you say 'let's just put it that way', it usually means 'something's either very good or very bad, but for whatever reason I don't want to/can't go into specifics'. It's not really the kind of thing you say if something's mundane, it's implying a strong positive or negative reaction.

Whether that means it's 'CM Punk was super pissed and wanted to quit but we've talked him round and he's going to return at Wrestlemania' or 'CM Punk doesn't look like coming back - we're not happy, but we don't want to burn that bridge just yet' is anyone's guess.

But yeah, I guess this is just an elaborate way of saying 'we don't really know much more than we did this time last week'. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

NXT Review:

The Ascension vs Jobbers - The tag division is a joke. Surely they can throw a couple of new guys together with a gimmick.

Summer vs Emma - Tensai marking for Emma and Bayley (Bubbles and Hugs) is awesome! The match was a bit sloppy but still entertaining.

Renee interviews Zayn & Cesaro - Strong segment. We need to see more of this smarmy, dominaring Cesaro on the main roster.

Neville vs Breeze - Good match. Bo came out after the match for his usual troll job. Neville got under his skin and almost goaded Dallas into losing his cool.

Verdict: An improvement on recent shows. The focus on building up to the PPV is starting to pay off. MVP: Adrian Neville who showed his more agressive side.

Smackdown Review:

Bryan vs Swagger - Solid match. Bryan outsmarted Swagger to get the victory but not before Swagger targeted Bryan's injured shoulder for most of the match.

Bryan vs Cesaro - Good match. Cesaro copied Swagger's gameplan. Zeb and Swagger got their marching orders for trying to interfere. Cesaro dominated. When Bryan finally had Cesaro down Kane chokeslammed him and announced him as the winner by DQ with a smile.

Wyatt Family vs Rhodes Bros & Rey - Good match.

Summer & Emma - Dance-off hosted by Renee Young. It was kind of fun and some of the audience got into Emma's dance. There was a little brawl after with Emma ejecting Summer and Fandango from the ring.

Ziggler vs Titus - OK match. Ziggler got the win when Young distracted Titus.

Uso vs Road Dogg - OK match. Jimmy won.

Sheamus vs Christian - Good agressive brawl. It was an even match. Sheamus won with White Noise. Christian pushed him off the turnbuckle when he was celebrating to close the show.

Verdict: Another quality Smackdown. It should be renamed "The B+ Show." All the matches were scripted so both opponents looked strong. Also they didn't hold back even so close to the PPV.

So anyone else catch WWE booking Batista like a badass babyface lately? I guess they realized that the fans don't accept him as a babyface like they did from 2005. I mean, the guy has his head shaved and tattoos all over his steroid abused body. He can't be John Cena 2.0. Booking him like a badass the last 2 weeks has been the best thing they've done in a long time because it's different, when was the last time a babyface was booked like a believable badass? Triple H doesn't count, although I'm 100% confident he's the reason for the change in Batista's bookings. People actually cheered Batista after he put Del Rio through the table last week and teased smashing him with the television monitor. The same people were also booing him when he came out mere minutes before that. Last week he pushed Del Rio into a metal shelving unit despite Del Rio clearly selling the prior weeks beatdown and posing no threat.

I am a Batista fan obviously, have been since he got me back into wrestling back in 2005 after seeing this genetically superior athlete on my screen despite him being extremely limited in the ring. He screamed cool back then, especially to anyone under 13.

J.R noted how Punk contrasted with the docile and non-competitive current-day WWE locker room and how he would have fit in perfectly with guys during the late '90s and early '00s with their driven and bold attitudes. McMahon and Punk haven’t always got on. Even last year Punk and Vince had a clash over the way the Taker feud was handled. Yet Vince has always liked this passion; much like Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin would just directly speak to Vince and make demands, Punk is much the same, and Vince respects that. Only Punk and Cena really have this relationship with Vince and ability to talk to him on a level. It's common knowledge now that when Punk first came in he wasn’t much liked at all, but from pretty early on he built up a relationship with Vince where he wasn’t fazed to speak to the boss and be honest. While at first this may have caused friction, in the long run it has opened up a level of communication and ease that has served Punk well. In 2013 CM Punk and Vince McMahon were on the same wave length, atleast for the most part, and this hopefully means an inevitable and exciting WM30 CM Punk return.

One of my biggest problems with the impending break up of The Shield would be what they will wear for gear after the split.

Please don't just have them all go back to their trunks, so boring. Honestly, a big part of their excitement its different, looks cool (in my opinion) and really makes them stand out.
