Didn't make any predictions, but I expected Conti to make it further.

Nice to see Cena writing a children's book. That man just keeps on giving... Makes me think how one would accurately represent Cena in TEW. There must be some stat called "dedication" that would separate him from the rest.

How many times does Strowman have to run into the turnbuckles shoulder-first before he learns to not do so? I know it's a common spot in wrestling, but he does it every single match now. It's almost becoming a trademark move for him. He does that more than he does his finisher these days.

Very rare for a wrestling show to make me tear up. Judging by the reactions it seems like only Roman, Vince and the medical staff knew. Hopefully vitriolic Roman-haters might start to appreciate him for busting his ass the last 6 years and not letting Vince use his leukemia to get cheap sympathy but I won't hold my breath.

Shocking news today. It'll be a long time before we'll see Roman back - informed guesses I've seen say around 18 months, assuming all goes well.

The majority of reactions I've seen have been supportive, talk of donations, signing up for blood/bone marrow transplants... WWE obviously does a lot of work with cancer charities anyway, and no doubt this will only strengthen that association.

Horrible news for Roman and his family, of course, but he's young, healthy, and will surely get great medical care; Even if he never wrestles again, so long as he comes out the other side able to enjoy a long life then he'll have won this battle.

That news is devastating for Roman and the WWE as a whole. I seriously hope he does beat leukemia again and comes back. The show seemed like it didn't matter after his announcement because when it's a life and death situation, how do you get back into the show as a fan? I think that news really took the air of the crowd and of course it did. Anyways, the silver lining in it is that when he does come back, he'll definitely be a babyface for life!

As for RAW last night, I didn't watch the whole show and only saw that beginning segment (Damn you Rollins for making me tear up!) and the main event.

I hear the whole show was weird but of course it was going to be because now they have to re-write storylines without Roman and find his replacement. Emotions were high last night so I understand why people hated the Ambrose heel turn but I think it was the best time to do it. I'm sure they had to rush his turn so it made sense to do it then. I'm sure they knew people would not like it because of Roman's announcement earlier but I think it'll make for a more personal and compelling feud between Ambrose and Rollins.

Edit: Unfortunately, Milamber, there were a select few on twitter thinking that Roman's annoucement was a work. Some people obviously can't distinguish between storylines and real life.

WWE should hire Doug Williams to be a road agent for the UK Brand since he's retiring. He'd be a good hand to have around. Also, I wish they'd start an NXT Canada or just make an official relationship with Lance Storm's school. They've signed like 9 of his students the last few years.

Roman's departure is definitely the most impactful event that'll have a lasting effect on WWE's booking within the past 3 years at least.

While not a fan of his forced run as top face, I do look forward to his eventual return as a performer.

The Women's matches on NXT UK were apparently taped as part of a tournament to determine their Women's Champion, but there was zero mention of that during the airing. I'm guessing it's because it started airing way later than they planned, and they couldn't finish airing the tournament matches before Evolution. Wonder if they'll mention the tournament at all during Evolution itself. They haven't even named No. 1 contender yet and the event is this weekend.

They went with the worst and most predictable solution to the Aleister Black storyline just as I was starting to get interested. :/ It's like it's become mandatory to give every character the same tired old "dark side" or "mean streak" or "bitter face turns heel" story even when they don't need them. Johnny Gargano was perfectly fine as a straight babyface and they just had to do an unnecessary heel turn. I'm actually surprised Bayley and Ember Moon managed to escape that fate before they were promoted.

NXT

- Undisputed Era back to 100%... boom! Cole vs EC3 was good.

- Quick debut for Mia Yim. The quality of the NXT Women's Division is about to pick up.

- Poor Regal under pressure heading into War Games

- Ohno has really let himself go but it's super fun watching him squash jobbers.

- NXT know how to put together entertaining main event segments. Gargano was the predictable choice but I don't mind because it makes sense.

MYC

Both matches were great. Rhea Ripley looked like an absolute beast.

My Top 3 matches so far:

1. Meiko vs Toni

2. Meiko vs Mercedes

3. Io vs Ripley

NXT UK

3 solid matches and a good main event. I loved the Eddie Dennis promo. Zack Gibson is still a big heat magnet and one of the top mic workers in wrestling today.

Still devastated about the Roman news. It took cancer for some people to finally appreciate him and that is sad. Hope he recovers fully and quickly. The dignity and personality he showed though...The man has been hiding for the last decade that, for example, leukemia ended his football career, as we know came to know. Yet when asked about football he just stated that it didn't work out. He could have easily taken the easy way out, tell the truth (which wouldn't be shameful) and explain that football didn't work cause of the cancer. Yet he chose not to do it and even working with a company known for exploiting all sorts of things like these, he never allowed it to be used as a way to get cheered. The way he acted and how he kept this private even when it justified some of the bad things that had happened in his life, like football...a man like that can only be a great guy. I really hope to see him back in the ring, but most importantly, as long as he survives and has a good life, that's what matters.~

I had no problem with the Dean turn and that was just Alvarez moaning for the sake of it. It had to be done. The show must go on and they had just lost their top start. They had to get some momentum for the next shows and the show (even if it would always be overshadowed by Roman's announcement) could not end with a mention to Roman's illness or something cheap like that. Had to end with impact and this way Dean will probably get booed for a while instead of getting the Becky Lynch effect, which was a risk. As long as they don't use Roman's situation in promos, nothing was done in bad taste, I'm sure they had Roman's blessing, (surely he must want the show to go on and for WWE to succeed) and it was a good move to do.

BOO at them removing the NXT UK Women's Title match from Evolution. <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I wonder if it was by deliberate design that out of the 3 Japanese competitors in the MYC, 2 were both eliminated by Toni Storm and the last one is facing her in the Finals.....

But then they let Rhea Ripley walk around with the title so the cat's out of the bag anyway. Rhea just faced Dakota Kai in the dark match.

Meltzer confirmed my suspicion that Tegan Nox was supposed to win the MYC. Now with the change in booking it could go either between Toni and Io.

Trish & Lita vs Mickie & Fox - Solid match considering Bliss couldn't wrestle and one team weren't match fit. Smart choice for opener to get the crowd hot.

Battle Royale - Fun match. I was hoping for Asuka or Ember to win.

Toni vs Io - Great match but a bit short and not the best of a strong tournament. My pick was Io but with Rhea as UK Champ I'm not surprised they wanted Toni to win the MYC with Tegan injured.

Riott Squad vs Sasha, Bayley & Natalya - Solid match even though we've seen a dozen versions of it on Raw.

Shayna vs Kairi © - Great match. Psychology and storytelling were on point. The interference was well done and the ending sequence had me on the edge of my seat. Despite the result, I have faith in NXT's booking. Unless Kairi is getting a shock call-up it's just part of a storyline to debut Shayna's friends and Io.

Charlotte vs Becky © - MOTN despite Chioda's slack refereeing LOL. I was particuarly impressed by Charlotte's selling of Becky's offense.

Nikki vs Ronda © - Solid match but it should have gone on 2nd last. Nikki is better than people give her credit for. This was designed to make her look like a legit threat while giving Ronda a high profile title defense.

Verdict: One of the best non-Takeover PPVs.

I love that lighting style. Puts the focus on the in ring action.

Becky vs Charlotte was match of the night, but if Io and Toni had more time they could have easily stolen the show.

Bobby Lashley has replaced Cena in the World Cup tournament since Cena is refusing to travel to Saudi Arabia.

Reports are saying Daniel Bryan is refusing to go as well, but so far he's still advertised. Interested to see if WWE makes a change to the WWE title match tonight on Smackdown.

Was really looking forward to AJ vs Bryan though. The first ROH show I ever went to was headlined by

So it would have been gnarly to see them face off 12 years later.

However, maybe they decided to do the old style of lighting from the 70's and 80's. When I first started watching wrestling that is how they usually lit the arena and I always found it cool. It focuses on the action in the ring.
