<p>Love that there's a WoH champ being crowned. I can already envision the finals being Tenille vs Madison, though I'll be content if it's vs Deonia. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Might be a good time to finally watch those ROH DVD's from years ago I purchased but never really watched.</p>

One woman isn't signed with ROH as far as I know. The other is or was allegedly dating the head booker. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> My ideal finals based on those brackets would be Tenille vs. Mayu Iwatani. Mayu is awesome, and has become one of my favorites in the world as I've been really diving into Stardom over the past few months. Tenille vs. Kelly Klein seems more likely though, because they seem to still be pushing Kelly hard based on the commentary of that show they just streamed live (which was the first bit of ROH I've seen in many months.)</p>

Poor Marty and Dalton had to attempt to follow Kenny and Cody. They should have pulled and NXT and had the bigger feud headline. They worked hard though and had a fun match.

Kenny and Cody killed it though.

Cody Rhodes, Minoru Suzuki, and Ciampa might be the best three heels in the world.

Yeah, that match placement was so baffling. I couldn't believe it when I realized Kenny vs. Cody was going on second to last, because it was such an obviously bad decision. Everyone knew what the most anticipated match on the show was, and it wasn't close. ROH knew it too, so why set it up the way they did? Maybe they didn't want the world title to take a backseat, but putting Marty and Dalton in a position to try and follow that match did them no favors.

I heard there were lots of problems with ROH's Honor Club service for those trying to stream the show through them. I had my doubts that they'd be prepared for that kind of traffic so soon after launching, which was one of the reasons I bought the show through FITE TV instead. Sounds like I made the right choice.

Agreed. It's not like ROH hasn't had the World title defended in non main event matches before after all.

Oh I know. I would have been so steamed in Dalton's shoes. I'm the RoH World Champion and I have to follow an allegedly "bigger" match that has only ancillary relationship to events going on in the promotion I'm supposed to be top man in? I don't know I would even have been willing to defend the title at an event where those conditions existed were I in his shoes.

And as a fan, I really feel it undercuts RoH's whole vibe. Their people are supposed to be the best in the world. We're meant to view the RoH as the top belt in the world. Or at least the top belt in the part of wrestling that actually values the match as much as the entertaining promo. Yet we're always having to deal with these outside Bullet Club issues whose roots are in Japan and mean little to the TV oriented viewer.

For the most part I love Ring of Honor and the great action and talent it brings to the table on a weekly basis. However, much as I like Cody, this match would have been my bathroom break so I wouldn't have had to miss Dalton and Marty. Kenny Omega is nobody to me and I couldn't care less about him or any Bullet Club drama he's part of. My thought would have been just get the darn thing over with and let's move on. I know that makes me a distinct minority but I can't help it. It feels like every time I start to chill on Bullet Club and settle in to their place in my wrestling world, it's time for them to be shoved down my throat again. I wish New Japan or whoever came up with them would decide they'd run their course and just been done with it already. Trying to choke them down can be so exhausting.

Wasn't the Cody/Omega match the one that got the most hype and was the focal point of all their advertising?

That Kenny vs. Cody was bigger can't really be in doubt, can it? You might not have been interested in it, which is perfectly understandable if you only watch ROH and not New Japan, but the crowd made it pretty clear what match they were there to see first and foremost.

That's definitely not happening any time soon, not with the amount of merchandise they sell.

The funny thing is that I as a New Japan viewer was pretty much exactly where you are now with the Bullet Club 2-3 years ago, when it felt like they were being shoved down my throat and it detracted from my enjoyment of the shows. I think New Japan has gotten much better about that though. Even with all the ongoing Bullet Club vs. Bullet Club drama, it doesn't ever feel like they monopolize the focus of events like they used to. The biggest and most important story in New Japan is Okada as the dominant champion about to shatter the records, and whether or not anyone can stop him. It's too bad ROH can't pull off the same sort of balance.

ROH is apparently in a better position financially than ever before, but they really do need to focus more on building their own guys instead of relying on NJPW guest stars as attractions for their biggest shows, especially now that New Japan is branching out and running shows in the US. What happens if NJPW starts running in the US frequently enough that it no longer makes sense for them to let ROH borrow their top guys?

Wasn't the Cody/Omega match the one that got the most hype and was the focal point of all their advertising?

Yep.

Sadly, no. Not in the technical sense. But that technical sense is not why I used the adverb "allegedly" or put "bigger" in quotes. My point with that phrasing is that when you present your talent the way RoH does, nothing, NOTHING, from the outside should be bigger than your own world title. Let New Japan do Kenny v Cody. You're presenting yourself as the best wrestling on the planet. Your guys are the cream that that supposedly risen to the top and you're going to let a match with some outsider eclipse your world champion? The guy who you're claiming as the very best of the very best? That just should not be allowed to be. From a fan's perspective, that tells me you're not who you say you are and if I want the best of the best, I should head elsewhere. Because in that scenario, Ring of Honor is just Triple A ball. Not the majors like you're presenting yourself to be.

Watched the Supercard and there were several awesome matches, as is to be expected. The only issue I had with the booking was the women's match which was just ...bad. Not only have they ended a invested streak with a semi-botched move, the ending was just awkward, maybe even painful to watch with the rest of the tournament workers standing ringside to witness the awful ending sequence they weren't actively a part of.

Now, I do get that they needed to calm given the Ibushi match (guess they did that all right), and I do get that Sumie is one of the ROH pioneers and that deserves respect. But isn't that what a retirement ceremony is for? In the end, it's all right because the event didn't suffer from the match.

Watching it live, I got the feeling that Kelly was legit knocked out by that DDT and was supposed to kick out and presumably go on to win. Everything from the announcing, the abrupt finish out of nowhere, Sumie's subdued celebration, all made me think it wasn't supposed to go down like that. I rewatched the ending the next day, and it looked to me like Sumie was moving off of her just before the three, like she was anticipating a kick out. I could see Kelly's eyes pop open a few seconds after the bell too.

So at the last ROH show The Kingdom wins the Six Man Titles off of So-Cal Uncensored, is it to much to hope that this stops them from bleating about this so called conspiracy they're always harping on about? They've been getting numerous title shots and being put over folks they've got no business defeating, safe to say at this point there's no actual conspiracy.

One would think this would end all the conspiracy talk. But I wouldn't call it bleating or unwarranted at all. In fact, I've had a theory on where the conspiracy lies.

Look at Taven's resume. He's one of five men to hold a particular accolade. But only he and the current (at least in TV terms) holder of that accolade are currently still in RoH. The three in between have all left and the last of those three left also feeling hard done by in regard to title possibilities. Meanwhile, men who failed to earn said honor like Dalton Castle, The Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonas have gotten more attention with less interference in their affairs in the Kingdom. And to top things off, RoH has spent almost half the year now dragging their feet to induct a new member into the aggrieved club for 2018. In short, it has been my theory that the reason Matt Taven and the Kingdom feel like they have been victims of a conspiracy is because there has (in character) been one. Namely, a conspiracy against Top Prospect Tournament winners. I don't know whose beef it is in RoH Corporate. But it has struck me pretty clear that in story there is one.

I doubt anyone cares that much about Matt Taven and his garbage partners to craft a storyline that in depth.

Maybe, maybe not. But at the end of the day I have to say I've really been enjoying The Kingdom and their conspiracy claims. Because I can't think of another instance where it's been quite so easy to make the case that complaining heel may actually have a beef. Assuming of course one cares enough to take the effort.

Now the group is centered around him and....well I'm hoping his partners eventually get a chance to be something without him.</p>

Yeah Matt Taven sucks, but he has/had a smoking hot girlfriend. I sat a couple of seats over from her at a show last yeah...and well damn let me just say she was really good looking.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

This isn't Attitude Era WWE Bubba Ray, crawl into the dustbin of history and stop trying to pretend you're anything but a guy who had the good fortune to ride the coattails of the Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian.</p>
