Great dynasty so far, and the notes are fantastic - really make the shows stand out from most of the diaries out there.

(Thank you very much. I must admit I came to first show and drew a complete blank. I am glad the notes work or I would have nothing. )

 

*Yuu new the pace would have to even out soon. They could not keep shooting raw fuel into their system. It would explode. Big returns had captures much attention: first her own then Ogiwara-san's. But now they had to do what they brought here for. Ogiwara-san's speech still sung in her ears. Their goals were now clear and the work to be hard.*

 

"I am back."

 

*She said in a quiet voice, as she had returned from the print shop with copies of their latest flier for the next stop of Guerrilla Storm. Kagawa-san was at her desk with Sensational Ogiwara, Kiko, Otsune (aka The Rainbow Girls) and a man in a suit from the JTB. A national travel company, who bowed and took his leave.*

 

"Yuu!"

 

*Kagawa-san motioned her to come over to her desk where the mood was apprehension and electricity waves. It set her on her own edge as she came to where she was wanted.*

 

"Our little seed has sprouted, Yuu. It is now or never, and I have devided it will be now. But there is a small twist in the plans."

 

*Kagawa-san studied Yuu carefully, which Yuu took a foreboding feeling towards with good reason as Kagawa-san continued.*

 

"You will be the voice. You are the only one with this particular language skill."

 

*Before Kagawa-san could end her sentence, Yuu was in the middle of it.*

 

"You are quite mistaken, Kagawa-san."

 

*Yuu said as politely as she could, bowing her head slightly to hide her face.*

 

"I apologize, I will most certainly not be anything. It would be a disaster of---"

 

*Kagawa-san interupted before descriptions could be made.*

 

"I have written the lines myself, Yuu. You can study them on the plane. It is plenty of time. Your memory is quite good, and even if it is a disaster. It is either a disaster or nothing and we will not be doing nothing anymore."

 

*Kagawa-san passed 'The Book' over to Yuu, inside were three tickets that would be leaving the next day. To say Yuu was not happy would be a grave understatement as the color of face had turned a violent shade.*

 

"This. Is. Not. My. Place!"

 

*Yuu protested loudly, banging her small fist on the top of the book but refusing to pick it up.*

 

"I will not do this!"

 

*Yuu was not a wrestler. Yuu was not a performer and Yuu had negative desires to change that particular status. But now it was Kagawa's turn to flash angry as she stood up suddenly from her chair.*

 

"Yuu! You forget yourself!"

 

*Kagawa-san slammed back the words.*

"You do not decide what you can and can not do. I do and I know you can do this particular thing or I would have chosen nothing in the end. I know you better, and it has been agreed that you will do fine. In other words, Yuu. We believe in you, and you should trust us not to send you into a disaster."

 

*Yuu was about on the verge of tears for several different reasons, but there was no crying in wrestling. She snatched up 'The Book' and turned away from the desk, heading for the office door.*

 

"The fliers are on my desk."

 

*Yuu had to be careful not to slam the door on the office on her way out.*

5SSW Guerrilla Storm Tour

Tuesday, Week 3, January 2010

Doshisha Athletic Center (Kinki):

 

*The cold outside was calculating, finding away through any hole in clothing or building. The heat was not so motivated and soon lost the battle. The fans stayed huddled in cars until the last minute, more than a few stayed huddled in their homes. The ticket count sat at 375 and was not looking to grow. It was a disappointing start to a winter night.*

 

"Please, do enjoy the show."

 

*Yuu forced herself to smile as she tore the ticket stub. Her head hurt. Her back hurt and her feet were still swollen from the flight back from America and the invasion of 'The Babes of Sin City'. She was not a wrestler and she never had a desire to be one. It was a trip that had been all about exposure... the two boxes of 5SSW DVDs they had carried with them had sold out at the end of that show. Yuu smiled on the inside while tearing another ticket. She would never do that again, but it had been very exciting in the end.*

 

"It is cold yes? Thank you so much for coming."

 

*She tore a last ticket stub and gestured towards the hall as the crowd applauded the lights lowering. The entire roster, lead by Sensational Ogiwara made their way to the ring for the traditional fan welcome. Ogiwara-san gave a speech resembling her press conference. They were here to save Joshi Puroresu together with the fans. As she spoke, Yuu grabbed her coffee, her clipboard and grabbed her hidden seat. Preparing to take notes on the first match of the night.*

*Kagawa-san's voice could be heard through the thin office walls. There was no sign of her lizardesque nature, it had all been burned away by her anger in the moment. It was a moment being shared by all of the women who made things go. But Yuu knew that most of the blame fell directly on her shoulders. She would make no excuses as Kagawa-san rant increased in volume and unanswered questions.*

 

"Will some one please explain to me how we go from putting on a solid 60 show to dumping a 41 in two short weeks!? Two. Short. Stupid. Weeks!!??"

 

*She kicked something, and it flew across the room. But no one was brave enough to look away and see what it was.*

 

"All the attention and all the momentum we had going? Forget it! In all of my days!"

 

*Kagawa-san continued on, no one dared murmur a word or even exchange a glance until she had gotten it all out of her well aged system.*

 

"Oh, don't you worry, Yuu. I know it was mostly your fault. You should have stayed in America until the smell of this show had evaporated! At least you did that right. But even then you made it difficult. Tell me what you are not going to do? It is obvious I have gone soft on all of you!"

 

*Kagawa-san paced back and forth muttering obscenities that still made Yuu blush, but she didn't even dare do that at this moment in time. She, like Ogiawa and Kit could only follow their angry boss with their eyes until she finally sat down... only to stand back up again.*

 

"I mean really!"

 

*They were all afraid she was going to throw one of them out the window. Most likely Yuu because she would have been the easiest and most satisfying. But instead she sat down again, and it seemed to stick as silence blanketed the room thick as the cold outside. Kit coughed dryly, but didn't dare say 'excuse me.'*

 

"Yuu! Tell me about America! Now!"

 

*Yuu cleared her voice, it was dry and cold in the office. All comfort had been forgotten.*

 

"The Babes of Sin City is just as they appear in footage. They are entertainment. Their talent are like sticks and string. I do not think they eat well. The fans enjoyed the 5SSW Joshi style I think. Our DVDs were gone qiuckly. I think we get the most out of this seed in the end."

 

*Yuu didn't complain about being shoved down. She didn't complain about the non-stop travel for over 72 hours. All of her leverage had been destroyed with the last show. But her face read tired and her voice was fatigued... Kagawa-san saw it, and did not care in the slightest.*

 

"How can you do one thing so well and at the same time..."

 

*Kagawa-san didn't need to finish the sentence.*

 

"We will decide what to do with The Rainbow Girls return to the BSC. If we want you to go as voice, you will. If it is time to shut up and fight? You will stay here and continue work on the next tour."

 

*Kagawa-san looked at them all, her eyes hard black bullets.*

 

"Now get out of here. Go home. I don't want to see any of you here until tomorrow. And tomorrow you're going to forget everything and turn this back around because that is your job. Our last show before Hitting Birth. Do not mess this up any more."

 

*The door closed behind Kit, Ogiwara and Yuu who bowed her head low to the other two.*

 

"I am sorry. It was all my fault."

 

*She kept her head lowered.*

 

"I take all the blame."

 

*Kit and Ogiwara had not enjoyed the experience at all. They knew it had been a bad night. It was not the first or the last... but still they were not in that frame of mind. They simply bowed shortly, turned and walked away... leaving Yuu with her head lowered in apology.*

 

*At home she would crawl into bed and sleep the entire day away... dreaming of nothing.*

*With the jet lag off of her back and Kagawa-san's words still ringing in her ears... Yuu returned to work with a focus of the single mind. Bringing bot Kit and Ogiwara-san into her workings she carefully planned out the last show before Hitting Birth would bring this tour to a close. The last month had the feeling of a year with all of the ups, downs, and thousands of kilometers that had appeared and disappeared again.*

 

*Coffee, noodles, 13 hour old bread is all the fuel one really needs when they are in deep with the Lizard Queen, Kagawa-san. After much debate and careful thought... the show began to form. They decided to continue with the Seek & Destroy return, and take the opportunity to seperate The Serpents for now. Their last win would put Dragon Assassin in line for a shot at the All-Asian title... Dragon Power would be no where on the card.*

 

*A third check between the three women and the Week 4 was called booked and signed. Kagawa-san did not even look at it, she waved them off with out a look. They all knew what was on the table this time around.*

*A month. A year. Time wears you like fast fashion. Disposable.*

 

"Only a month?"

 

*It hardly seemed possible that it had been so short of time. It was already good times and it was already bad. Last weeks disaster of a production had shown them all that their history meant nothing. In the land of Puroresu it was always today... you were only as good as your last show and if your last show bad, then so were you.*

 

"Yes, I was."

 

*But Yuu could not live there because the next show always did come again and again and again as the doors to the hall closed and the lights did dim.*

*The show had been a major success. The earliest rating pointing to a strong 60... the earliest ratings were rarely very wrong. The crews tore down the ring as the roster mingled with fans for money and loyalty. You are only as good as your last show... then they were very good indeed. Kit mussed Yuu's hair, because she hated that. Ogiwara-san gave her more coffee because she needed that.*

 

"Arigatou."

 

*There would be a party tonight with much food and drinking. There would be stories and high spirits. But Yuu was already pulling a small suitcase behind her before the plans were even finalized... The Rainbow Girls followed behind her. They would sleep at the Airport hotel before departing Gate 13 at 7:35 am. Three round trip tickets to Las Vegas and the BSC.*

 

"It was a good show, wasn't it?"

 

*Yuu made small talk with The Rainbow Girls along the way.*

*With an interview completed with the BSC and The Rainbow Girls using the hotel pool to prepare for the night's events. There was not more time to rest for Yuu. Back in Japan the company was preparing for their big, end of show tour. The poster for which she had just put the finishing touches on... an attachment Emailed to the Kinki, Japan printing company they used.*

Saori got such a huge de-push when I played. She's one of the few midcarders+ who can't call in the ring and it made it really hard to keep her on top when she botched big matches or couldn't keep up. Hope you work around this better than I did!

*5SSW had no television deal. They had no PPV, but they did release and sell DVDs, especially the big tour ending shows. Their announcing crew was one of the more solid units in Japan. They were given free reign to do pretty much as they liked with little input necessary from the 4 women behind the scenes.*

"Putting them on notice? That's a nice way of saying it. It was a bold move on managements part and it payed off in gold."

 

"That's right. The Rainbow Girls returned home with the BSC, Lethal Ladies, Tag Team Titles on top of their own, and I have been told that they are putting those on the line as well against Seek & Destroy tonight!"

 

"The humiliation can't get much worse for the American women. Not only did they lose their tag team titles, but now they are also being defended by The Rainbow Girls as well? Ouch, Chisu-san. But all the better for us."

 

"Not a bad way to start off our night, as one of the most famous tag teams in Joshi, Seek & Destroy. make their way to the ring."

"Seek & Destroy looked more like 'Huntress and Friend' tonight. Temko better get her head back in the game, and quick. Right now I wouldn't be surprised to see her in Yuu's dog house come April."

 

"Well one person you won't be seeing in Yuu's doghouse anytime soon is the 23 year old Megumi Nakajima. She is on a tear in 2010 so far."

 

"Picking up right where she left off in 2009. Only now the fans aren't holding her down anymore. She's going to do it her way from now on, and she's going to do it her way all over Chitose Ariwara who is in over her head."

 

"That's where upsets are made, but I agree with you tonight. If Megumi can keep Chitose out of the air? This could be a long night for the smaller luchador."

"DEVIL? An underdog? You're insane Chisu-san. DEVIL is, without a single doubt, the number one woman in this promotion. She knows it doesn't matter how much you win, it only matters when you win. Tonight is her night."

 

"It is a night of re-matches as Rei Chikanatsu tries to regain her All-Asian title from a highly motivated Dragon Assassin."

 

"If by highly motivated you mean extremely angry? Then yes, Dragon Assassin is exactly who you are talking about. Ever since Yuu placed her in the dog house dark match, she has been single minded in desire to punish 5SSW in return. Rei wants her title back? Good luck with that."

 

"If Rei can get Dragon into a wrestling match, she walks away with the title. If she starts to trade strikes? Then I agree with you, it will not be her night. But looking up in the ring right now, I can tell you she looks as focused as I've seen her."

"Rei is still out from that strike, but give her credit... She made a run for it but Dragon was just to powerful. She couldn't avoid her all night long."

 

"I'm sure Tomoko would have liked to have avoided her opponent tonight, "The Excellence of Execution" Shiori Jippensha. This match should be completely different from the last one."

 

"On paper these two were made for each other. But this isn't Happy, Happy, Paper Land. Tomoko is going to have to wrestle an almost perfect match to pull out the victory here. Shiori is just that good."

 

"She has even been good behind the scenes has that surprised you this year?"

 

"So far, her relationship with Yuu Onuki is the stuff of legends. These two can not stand each other in any way that I can imagine. But so far they have not crossed each others lines. If Shiori truly has changed her ways, the future of 5SSW just got that much brighter."

"That submission came out of nowhere, just taste of how dangerous she really is in that ring."

 

"Again you have to be impressed with the underdogs tonight. Each and everytime they are there to the very end."

 

"One woman who promises to be in 5SSW until the end is "Miss 5SSW" Saori Nakadan. She has spent her entire career in 5SSW and has really become a main event attraction this year."

 

"She is going to have a long night Raku Makuda. Makuda-san doesn't care much about her own body, so you can imagine how very little she cares about Saori's. One Swanton Bomb is all it takes as Raku tries to keep her momentum alive at any cost."

"A great match, that really sets the tone for our huge main event. The 5SSW World Champion faces DEVIL Karube faces the former champion, Yuma Maruya. These two have been battling through out the Guerrilla Storm tour with Yuma taking the upper hand each and every time."

 

"That's all well and good Chisu-san. But as DEVIL knows, THIS is the only time that matters. Yuma can pin DEVIL 300 times, but is the title is not on the line? It means absolutely nothing."

 

"What a way to end Guerrilla Storm. What a way to cap off one of the most exciting months in 5SSW history, and it's on now."

Yuma Maruya wins the 5 Star World title and holds it over her battered head as Hitting Birth comes to a happy, happy end.

 

*Yuu stood from her perch and applauded as well. She was all a smile.*

*It was well past noon before Yuu crawled out from beneath the covers of her futon. Fortunately her futon was on the floor, so the trip was short and relatively painless. The month has taken its high toll on Yuu, her reserves were on empty and she had no intention of setting foot in the office today.*

 

"Impossible."

 

*She muttered to herself, scooping a large helping of instant coffee into plain, beige mug. As it sat steaming, the small fan on her laptop began to whirl to life. 5SSW was a big news item as Guerrilla Storm blew out to sea. She, herself, blew cooling air over the mugs rim and began to read.*

Hitting Birth Puro Rating

 

5SSW was obviously not just happy with coming back from the dead. No, they've decided that they want bring it all back one more time. It will be a tall order without the likes of Sensational Ogiwara, Thunder Hike and Lioness gracing the ring. But if last night was any indicator, it just might be an order they can fill.

5SSW's Guerrilla Storm has come to a close. But what a tour it was! The return of Yuu Onuki proved only to be a small spark that ignited the infamous 5SSW engine. After consolidating the tour into a longer, weekly production the four headed, management Hydra spread their claws by claiming the #2 spot in the Japanese company wars while invading the glitzy American promotion the Babes of Sin City at the same time. An invasion that saw them return home with the American's tag team titles on top of their own. And just in time to take part in their best end of tour show in ages.

 

5SSW now enters the offseason with all cylinders hitting their stride. If Yuu's history is any indication, it will not be a quiet one. Plus with the company actually turning a profit for the month? Ms. Kagawa sould be more inclined to give Yuu Onuki some operating room.

The Growth of 5SSW

5SSW have expansion in mind! The popular promotion have recently grown to even greater proportions, and it is heavily rumored that they are about to splash out and bring in some brand new talent to consolidate their position. There are also reports that they have several new target markets that they will be aggressively looking to break into.

*Zero emotion crossed her face as the facts stacked one upon the other. There was so much to do. Two months would surely feel like 2 days. The first contract would be coming up for renewal soon. Television stations would be accepting applications. Meetings held and the best path of growth considered... several names danced in her head for acquisitions they could use... names to be cut free as well.*

 

*But today? She would sip her coffee and walk down to the supermarket in the late January cold. Maybe eat a meal that did not require to add hot water.*

<p>Just took my first good look at this diary and I have to say I am impressed. Normally the japanese scene doesn't really interest me in game, but you have me hooked on the story and rooting for 5SSW to succeed. </p><p> </p><p>

*It was a 5SSW tradition to discuss matters of contract renewals anywhere but the office... a noodle stand being as good a choice as any. Tsugiharu Odaka was one of the best referees in the business, and they were quite lucky to have had him at all. Humble, optimistic and a face of a hamster... he was indeed an important part of their formula and family.*

 

"Money is money Tsugiharu, but more importantly you are a part of us. You have been a part of this company as long as many of us. We do not stay for money. We stay because it is our family, even if at times we do not like it."

 

*Tsugiharu quit slurping noisily at his noodles for a second.*

 

"Is that why you keep coming back, Yuu?"

 

*Yuu took a sip of beer from a bottle and smiled easily, he truly was like family... all of them were. It made the talking easy.*

 

"You know my relationship with Kagawa-san is ..."

 

"Masochistic?"

 

"Complex is the word I was looking for. But I would not dream of correcting your choice of words."

 

*Tsugiharu had watched Yuu come and go and come and go and now here she was again. He had lost track himself, which made him smile as he set down his empty bowl. With that simple gesture, their conversation turned to the true reason they were there.*

 

"I need more money Yuu."

 

*He looked her in the eye when he said it. Yuu didn't say anything, but listened carefully.*

 

"I've been turning down money from the big companies my whole career because Kagawa-san took me in and gave me a job. Hell, she gave me a life and I'm thankful. I've said no to every company you can name."

 

*Yuu nodded, they all had at one time or another. But she believed he had more than anyone. He really was that good.*

 

"I have to take this chance, Yuu. I can't say no this time. But, I will give you a chance to match the offer. You don't have to beat it. You just have to match it."

 

*Tsugiharu passed a small, folded piece of paper across the noodle counter to Yuu. Take a drink of beer for strength, she unfolded it and looked at the number presented. A defeated smile took to her lips.*

 

"It is good pay. Do they need a slightly used booker?"

 

"Ha! Like you would come."

 

*Tsugiharu stood up, pulling his jacket closed against the cold outside. He looked down and smiled at Yuu like an older sister. There were no hard feelings. It was just time. He mussed the top of her hair because she absolutely hated that and turned to walk away.*

 

"You'll be back!"

 

*Yuu called out as he turned to walk away. He didn't turn around, but replied.*

 

"Oh, I know."

 

*He ducked under the curtain, and out into the street... and then he was gone.*

5SSW Departure:

5SSW and Tsugiharu Odaka have failed to reach an agreement.

It is believed Odaka may be headed to Tokyo while 5SSW will begin a search for a new head referee.

*Yuu and Kit stood before the four younger women with a clipboard in hand. Their ages ran from 20 to 29. Three of them were hand selected by Yuu herself. The other, Fuyuko Higa, was a recent graduate of the dojo system. The one thing they all had in common? They had all been signed to 9 month, standard P.P.A. contracts for the upcoming tour.*

 

"I will not get in your way, either way. If you want to rise through the card victory by victory? I will not interfere. If you want break even and eat every night? Again, I will not stop you. If you want to take our money and keep your head quiet? Again, it is fine."

 

*Yuu walked up and down the line, stopping in front of Higa-san. The youngest and already the worst reputation. Yuu looked into the dead pool eyes and did not blink as she did warn.*

 

"But let me be very clear. I have worked with the most talented women in this era and the last... and I have fired a couple of them too. This is not baseball or America. One time? You are the trouble at my door? It is my problem to solve. A second time it is yours as you look for another job."

 

*Higa-san had no soul it seemed to her. She walked on down the short line.*

 

"If you do not care? Then I do not. If you do? It is the same for me. I am the mirror of 5SSW. You look at me and you see yourself in the matches I will give you. If you do not like them, then change yourself."

 

*Yuu smiled, her voice soft but she was quite serious.*

 

"Do not waste your time trying to change me."

5SSW Signs four new talents.

5SSW has negotiated deals with the following workers:

Angel Takudome, Chiyeko Kita, Fuyuko Higa, Ginko Kuroda

While none of them are household names likely to turn the company around, they are Yuu Onuki's first signings since returning to 5SSW in January.

*Yuu was not the most organized human being on the planet. Her parents had often said that her wiring was... unique. But over the years she had come up with ways to compensate for her uniqueness. In a job that required detail, thought, and continuity... it was the humble post-it note that kept not only Yuu but now 5SSW on track and on course.*

 

"Cancel hair appointment."

 

She muttered to herself, annoyed, as she scratched out another note. Any free space that belonged to Yuu was covered in yellow squares of paper. Her desktop. Her laptop. Her apartment. Her soul. If it was one a yellow piece of paper, something would be done. If it wasn't, it would be very hard to prove that it existed at all.*

5SSW signs new referee.

 

Yuu Onuki seems to have found her man, or at least her referee.

Independent worker, Kazuko Hiroyuki has signed on as 5SSW's new, head referee.

"I'm looking forward to working with 5SSW. There is a lot of talk about them right now. I'll do my best to help them get where they're going."

 

In equally exciting news, 5SSW has hired the national food chain: Good Sushi is Good to cater their growing and hungry work force.

 

With the clock winding down, it seems 5SSW is almost ready to hit Japan over the head with a liberated, Joshi frying pan once more.

*The Spring time weather made the office kind of pleasant. The walls breathed a warmer air as Yuu and Kagawa-san sat inside a brief moment of silence. Kagawa-san was in complete control this morning, which allowed Yuu to contemplate her morning coffee choice... it was terrible.*

 

"I don't mind experimenting with some angles from time to time during this tour. But I'm not ready to commit to them just yet. It has never been our strong point. The crowd comes to see action these days. I'm not ready to upset our fan base just yet."

 

*There was a strong emphasis on the 'yet'. Yuu had pleaded her case as well as she could. Eventually they were going to hit a wall with their current product and they needed a way to get over it. They needed people to follow them instead of catching them when they passed through town. It was a big difference.*

 

"I would like to run two shows with angles this tour then. I want to see what we have and what we don't have to work with."

 

"That's fine, but I don't want you messing with the outcomes unless it's absolutely necessary. Let Kit, Ogiwara and the girls continue running that side of things. I think it helps keep things fresh."

 

*Kagawa-san folded her fingers in front of her cool lips with eyes on Yuu across the desktops. They had grown quicker than she had imagined possible and Yuu had been a great part in that. But Kagawa-san could see history repeating itself again in the space between them. They would grow again. It would be almost impossible not to and then Yuu would hit the wall hard and they would not grow again.*

 

"Not this time Yuu."

 

*Kagawa-san said aloud, much to the confusion of Yuu who looked up from her own contemplations.*

 

"Not this time what?"

 

*Kagawa-san, lowered her hands from her lips and smiled narrowly.*

 

"Not this time Yuu, as in we are not going down the same road again. We are done repeating history together."

 

*Yuu was still a little confused at exactly what she was getting at, but wrote down a name on a little, yellow piece of paper: -History Girls- as a name for one of the big shows in the tour. She thought about the word history, or maybe she thought about the actual thing... was it a map out or a death trap.*

 

*A knock on the door followed by a polite announcement broke her from her chain of though as a courier from Kinki Squid Ink Printing brought in an envelope and handed it to Yuu. The Boom Boom Beat Tour had arrived.*
