*They were words written with the lizard's pen. She tried to sound natural. She tried to look natural... a move of the hand. She sounded mismatched. She looked plastic and it frustrated her again, again and again. It was not the frustration of failing. It was the frustration of doing. She was no actress. She had no training. She had no secret desire of that particular kind. She was happy in her self constructed world of lines, names and strings... a booker's only tools. But here she was once more and again... driving the truck and practicing lines for a show she not only had to create but now be in.*

"It really is quite and ridiculous."

*She turned the wipers on hull as she navigated the narrow streets of the ever famous Kyoto. Geisha, petrol stations, temples and grey forgotten buildings of crumble. She held the written lines between the steering wheel and her grip and read them again and more. The decision to perform in the Kyoto Arena had been a heated affair between Kagawa-san and Yuu. Yuu insisted that they play new cities in Kinki even with the steep price. The Lizard Queen quite happy with her money and Athletic Center review and show. The same battle for booker and owners forevermore she quite and very sure. Yuu practiced her lines again.*

"You think that is so? You think that is so?? That you think? What?"

*She took her eyes from the road and back to the paper again. If one were to take the paper from Yuu's hand and throw it into the river? She would thank them. If someone were to take the paper, unfold it to smooth and turn it over? They would see a copy of the Week 3 poster already out on the street.*

"The Lizard Queen indeed..."

*The lines and forms begin to blur in with the rain.*

Etsuko Arihyoshi defeated Yori Toyoshima, Angel Takudome, Ginko Kuroda and Ikuko Temko in 8:38 when Etsuko Arihyoshi defeated Yori Toyoshima by submission with an Arihyoshi Lockdown.

Buffering ... Buffering .. Buffering . 100%

*The stream begins as always with a wide shot of the arena centered upon the ring. The ring filled with every member of the active roster. Yuma Maruya is given the honor of thanking the crowd for coming on a night such as this and promises them all a night to remember. She bows her head deeply in thanks and the others follow her lead and with that the curtain rises on the events as HEART Saitoh and Raku Makuda stay behind. The Joshi crowd feed the change in mood by calling out their favorite's name and wishing them the spirit of fight as all the polite ceremony is forgotten. Disbelief suspended for a low price.*

*The traditional post-match interview ends as vision cuts to another scene of preparation. Chitose Ariwara and Gemmei Oonishi lace their boots and tape the wrists for impact and the dance of their profession. The talk of the very same thing.*

*Gemmei felt a little better for Ariwara's words and feelings... until a cold feeling of voice touched her ears from the doorway.*

"You think that is so, Ariwara-san... Oonishi-san? You think it is all of luck and time and good things coming from nowhere? Like the waiting of a bus or train?"

*The lines under Yuu's eyes had deepened, her voice sounding of age and roads.*

"You two are so alike, yes? Your happy days and hope. You might as well tell her it is magic, prayers and energy of people that bring you everything. It is a lie. It is sacrifice. It is giving everything to the moment that is. It is the past you have built with your own bones. That is where it comes from and that is where you two are going tonight when you face the team of Umeko Hotta and Chiyeko Kita. Your bones? They will find them. Your bones, they will build something useful unlike your words."

*Yuu walked away, leaving the camera on Chitose and Gemmei for response. A look of confusion shared.*

"What was that?"

...

"I have no idea. Things have been getting a little strange around here ever since..."

*She was going to say Sensational Ogiwara's recent shift. But thought better of it quite quick.*

"But it looks like we have some work to do together. Why don't we turn it all around tonight, Butterfly Style!"

*Chitose smiled at Gemmei who liked the sound of that, minus the whole butterfly thing. That was embarrassing. But still, even after all that... the strange moments of Yuu tinted the air as the segment ended.*

*The attention cut away from the Huntress in victory to a more muddled scene as Otsune Tsumura was visibly flashing of the anger that only a meeting with Fuyuko Higa could inspire. Otsune pushed a finger into the chest of the young lioness.*

"I'm sure Thunder Hike would be proud of you if she could see the way you walk around here, Miss Perfection. You haven't proved anything to any of us. I've been learning my craft for seven years. Seven years! It never stops. But one thing I know is I've earned my spot. Maybe somebody should have taught you that, Fuyuko."

"Your spot? Why would I want your spot, Otsune? An ex-tag team champion, going nowhere? Great for you but it has nothing to do with me and where I'm going."

*The Lizard Queen smiled with her thin lips, her essence the very thing of reptile and blue as the camera fit her in to the growing frame.*

"Great for us you mean, Fuyuko. The Rainbow Girls are one of our greatest tag teams and Otsune here is right. She has earned her spot and our respect. But maybe she should earn from you personally in that ring tonight. But don't blink Fuyuko. She's bright and fast just like you."

*Otsune flashed a gloved punch into the wall right beside Fuyuko's ear. Quick indeed as the sound was delayed with a smack. But Fuyuko did not flinch. She did not react except to burn in eyes.*

*Three women stand in front of the 5SSW banner as the action fades away. Two titles. One microphone. The voice practiced, commanding and strong.*

Your just another target for her on her rise to the top."

*The Dragon Assassin said nothing. She didn't need to.*

"And my third? She's in the thick of things every night that I can remember. She's in my business too. But she knows this match is exactly what she needs to keep her footing and come after me, instead of you Saori. She's better than you and we all know it. It's time to end this little display once and for all. We are going to destroy you tonight."

*The DEVIL's team lived up to its name with the slightest or shred of the doubt. Each woman had proven herself to be a vicious counter-point to any opponent over the moves of time and history.*

*Three new faces now stood in front of the 5SSW banner, but the voice though different remained strong as Saori Nakadan held the microphone.*

"My two partners were easy to find because they found me. You see DEVIL? Your list of enemies is my list of assets. It made my job too easy. You remember Rei Chikanatsu right? One half of the current tag team champions? You laid her and her partner out with a cheap, blindside last week and she's pretty determined to get her hands on you tonight."

*Rei flashed the secret lemon sign before the camera moved on.*

"Oh, I know for a fact you remember my other pick. She was waiting for me before we were even finished last week. She's the former 2 X World Champion and current number one arrow in your heel. She's Yuma Maruya and she can't stand the thought of you being Champion anymore than me."

*Yuma looked as serious as she had been seen.*

"Is that business enough for you, DEVIL? You may be the World Champion for now, but I'm still Ms. 5SSW with the team I've put together for you. We are the faces of this company, not you."

*The three determined faces stared into the camera before the scene froze away.*

*Back in the ring... the music had played and the women had claimed their corners for the night. This match was one of the biggest collections of talent at one time since Yuu's arrival. DEVIL's team looked of focus and cold while Saori's had the light of fight in their eyes as the bell did ring and the two youngest started the fight with space and calculation between them.*

*The team of Ms. 5SSW stood tall in the middle of the ring as DEVIL's team looked disgusted with each other around the ring. DEVIL in particular, still holding her ribs from the Yuma Special, spit the bitter taste from her mouth. She had no happy place to stay tonight, but the World Title would surely help her regain her place. For that reason she retreated... she had nothing to prove just yet... yet would be the end of this tour.**

*The Lizard Queen was pleased with outcome. The fans were happy and the energy was good with the night coming to its scheduled end. But from her mostly hidden perch, Yuu Onuki saw the lines in another way. Violence was a storm building with its edges biting at week 4 with wind teeth and bad intentions driving it there. You could not control the weather no matter your deepest desire.*

*Yuu wiped the "dark lines" from beneath her eyes with a heavy cleanser that made her skin tingle and eyes tear as the alcohol evaporated... leaving her face natural and bare. If only all evil were so easily removed, the world would be a much better place indeed. Her acting remained not even passable, the others involved always out shined her. To keep things positive she decided that was her actual role... to make the others look good as always. Not matter how often she practiced her lines... they sounded hollow and B. Her brow furrowed as she considered her own performance on a otherwise strong show.*

"What is the motivation?"

*The Lizard Queen was a natural. Yuu always watched her perform and words. While Yuu's onscreen character was more like of dirt and worms. Her character did not even have a name yet. Perhaps that would help her find voice instead of plastic manners copied from another memory. Yuu splashed her face with cold water several times until the heavy makeup was all down the drain and forgotten.*

"Yuu?"

*The door closed behind Kit, and her body blocked it besides. It seemed she did have more than enough of silence and the avoiding eyes of Yuu. Yuu sighed quietly, not wanting to deal with this at all. But there would never be a proper time in the stretch of ever. Now was as good a time with that in mind.*

"Mee?"

*It was an old joke between Kit and Yuu. It stretched back many years to when Kit was still in the ring and Yuu was still young with more than one hundred dreams.*

"I didn't know about Ogiwara. You've got to know that. Maybe I should have, and hey... I did bring her here. But haven't I paid enough? It's been two weeks, and even Kagawa-san has let me breath a little."

*Yuu pretended to wash her face again, even though it was as fresh as was possible for the time of night and ending.*

"Yes, I suppose it is so. But she is not your friend, Kit."

*Yuu paused and looked at Kit through the mirror.*

"I am your friend. It is an entirely different thing."

*Kit nodded in understanding and turned to open the door.*

"I'm your friend too, Yuu."

*That was all that needed to be said. There would be know hugging or other embarrassing displays of childish need. They were friends as had always been... except for one minor thing. Yuu put down the washcloth and opened her bag. They keys of the cargo beast sitting on top. She took them with her hand.*

"I think I have paid enough for this wager, yes?"

*Kit caught the keys from the air with ease. Her reflexes still sharp as her Joshi days. There was no argument in her. The wager had most definitely been paid. Kit turned to leave again.*

"I'll ride with you, I think."

"Me?"

*Yuu smiled as Kit walked out the door with light air and energy.*

*Later, in the cab of the truck Yuu sat tucked in the passenger corner. The glow of her laptop lit up her overly-washed face as she tried to catch the first reports and news line. Kit worked the cargo truck around the corners with much more force than Yuu could ever muster or dare. Her eyes darted back to the screen as pure information formed the lines she needed.*

5SSW Boom Boom Beat Tour Results

5SSW drew 689 fans to Kyoto Arena for the Boom Boom Beat Tour.

5SSW owner, Sakurako Kagawa has continued her onscreen role as "The Lizard Queen"; a name many fans will instantly recognize as her actual nickname. Somewhat more surprising is the equally continuing appearance of Yuu Onuki on camera as what? We are not quite sure yet.

Fortunately her booking skills remain intact as 5SSW seems to be running with Saori "Ms. 5SSW" Nakadan against DEVIL Karube for the World Championship.

The tour will end in their home region with a final show being dubbed, 'Future Style.' With one more show to before this big event, we expect the other title situations to become clearer.

*The office was warming in the early Spring light as Yuu approached from the South. Her small hands tucked inside a vintage bomber jacket she had kept for too long. It was worn and fading but still kept warmth near her skin. Beneath it she wore the clothes of a middle aging professional... because that was what she was. The only one in 5SSW it seemed, it made her unique in the very unique world she lived in: The sole surviving Joshi Puroresu company in Japan. She opened the office door and went inside.*

"I am home."

*Yuu announced quietly closing the door behind her. Her boss, Sakurako Kagawa, looked around her newspaper at Yuu.*

"Yuu, you are here today and early?"

*Yuu was generally a creature of habits. After a show of anykind, it was a well known fact that Yuu crawled into her bed for a day or even two without being seen or heard of... her phone "misplaced" which meant ignored. The Lizard Queen studied Yuu's face as the response cam from the morning voice of her.*

"Yes? Yes. I guess so. There are too many things missing and only one show left to find them. I tried to crawl away from it in my bed. But the holes kept me awake, and then they spoke and said 'fill me, please.'"

*Yuu sat at her desk, pulling out a fresh pack of yellow post-it notes. The sound of the wrapping plastic quite loud in the quiet office.*

"There is no arguing with holes. They never listen to me."

*The Lizard Queen returned to reading her paper.*

"You're a very strange woman, Yuu."

*Yuu ignored the statement as she began to scribble names on little pieces of paper and stick them to the empty spaces immediately around her. The tag team situation was hole she would have to gamble on to fill. The All-Asian title was close, but delicate as chemistry was an issue there. Everything needed more from her... and more was what she would give until week 4 began to takes it shape and form. Etsuko or Ginko would have a chance at a step of monumental change... and All Business? They were on their very last of steps it seemed. Yuu decided that match would decide it all. If the Rainbow Girls did win? They would face the Lemons all, alone and next for the titles... All Business? They would be forgotten and disbanded which were very much the same thing in her mind.

The holes left almost satisfied as the lines... her beloved lines took hold and filled.*

They were such a small company still, everyone had at least a dozen jobs to perform... some even more if a show were to happen at all. There was no ring crew. There were no stage hands, no sound technicians or camera person. Each one had to do according to their position or particular talents. The women sold their own merchandise in between matches from cardboard boxes and cheap folding tables. It was all very used. It was all very personal. Everybody was connected to it, and it was not a job... it was a way of life.*

"Why did you tell DEVIL and Shiori to make their own calls? I worked with them for 3 days. 3 days, and you come in 30 seconds and mess it all up. Shiori is still too young to call things"

"But DEVIL"

"But DEVIL what? She is only half of the dance. You will never understand, I can't explain it to you."

*There it was again, Yuu on the outside looking in on it all as she was once again not one of them...*

"I thought they could make the story, yes?"

"No, Onuki-san why didn't you just trust me? You assigned me the match, so let me do it. I know what it's like, so just make the card and stay out of it, alright. That match should have burned like fire above all the others. Not blended in."

*Yuu stood up from her seat, and looked Ogiwara-san in the eyes. She was searching for the engine of menace or play of power... but she saw none of things with the glance. Just a women who was angry at her hard work being upset. Yuu lowered her eyes and her head slightly.*

"You are correct, Ogiwara-san. I did not take in to account the youth of Shiori enough I think and I upset your match. I agree, it should have burned of the fire as well. I should have told you instead of them with the direct."

*Yuu raised her eyes again.*

"But tell you in the end, yes? After discussions and points?"

*Her voice did not change at all.*

"And it will be done my way, Ogiwara-san. This is not Exodus2010. I carry the book here and the pages many. There is no question of yes or no in that."

*Ogiwara-san seemed slightly stunned and off her footing as Yuu collected up her things. She still had another dozen things to do before they could pull out of town while it was sleeping. She slid past Ogiwara-san's dangerous form before turning to add.*

"I am glad we could talk like this, yes?"

5SSW Boom Boom Beat Tour Results

Tuesday, Week 4, May 2010

5SSW drew 670 fans to Doshisha Athletic Center for the Boom Boom Beat Tour. Our newly christened Metajoshi application gives the show a final score of 52 in the grand scheme of all things Joshi. The match of the night honors went to an out of the blue match-up between Ultimate Devastator Lemons and the team of Fuyuko Higa and Chiyeko Kita. A little more time together and a second match-up between these two young teams could be something special.

In the possible "upset" category we had two entries this show with the often flat and on the way out All Business picking up a win over former tag team champions, The Rainbow Girls. Being the only bad girls with a recent win, look for them to be inserted into the tag team title chase, now. Another upset, and the biggest of the night had to be the assault by and victory of Dragon Assassin over the company's top face, Yuma Maruya. With Yuma completely outclassing the All-Asian title, we can only assume that Dragon Assassin is getting ready to make her move to the next level. But kicking in Yuma's door to get there? Not smart, maybe genius.

On the other end of the spectrum, Chitose Ariwara vs. Umeko Hotta felt a little flat compared to the rest of the card and sandwiched between two angels. Speaking of angles, it has been a double edged sword for 5SSW so far. While adding some depth and twists to the Joshi product we all love... the 5SSW roster is not filled with world class thespians even by wrestling standards. The meta-ratings have taken a hit and Yuu Onuki is going to have her hands full scoring anywhere near History Girls territory.

Rumors remain that there is still some real tension backstage and particularly in the office of 5SSW between Sakurako Kagawa, Sensational Ogiwara and Yuu Onuki.

Next up for 5SSW is Future Style 2010 and the end of the Boom Boom Beat Tour.

Higa/Kita need a name so they can take the Tag Belts off the Lemons. I hear Shojo Beatdown is still open.

Assassin's in a quandary. She should be in the World Title picture, but DEVIL as your standardbearer makes it hard for another heel to chase. Let her hang onto the All-Asian belt for another month. I like both Ariwara and Arihyoshi, but both are still young.

Huntress Makiko v Shiori Jippensha

Jippensha is both the superior worker in this matchup and in a position to chase for the World Title.

Megumi Nakajima v Yuma Maruya

Going against conventional wisdom here. I'm sorry, but I just don't find Yuma a credible #1 face. From a performance standpoint she is actually middle of the pack. Time to let Jippensha be the top face and get Sakakibara in the mix.

I like Nakadan, but again, DEVIL is your standardbearer.

*Yuu agreed with the music, nodding her head as she took tickets at the door. Down the stairs, the girls sold their merchandise. This was a big show and big crowd, it could make the rent for the 2 month break that was looming. If not it would be small time bookings and part time jobs all over again. Money. Money for the little machines everywhere... money Yuu was spending at an alarming rate. But there was a method of reason... she was not out of touch... spend now while they could afford to. Later it would be to much to pay.*

*Yuu mumbled to herself, the Lizard Queen would surely have hers at the end of tour work over. But for now?*

Yuma now gets the rolling single leg crab but Megumi crawls and gets the ropes to survive. Megumi fails at a Nakajima Straight Jacket, Yuma gets the suplex instead. Tornado DDT by Yuma got 2! Yuma up top... but Megumi stops that, goes up with her, they battle and Megumi gets shoved from the top rope. Split-Legged Moonsault! 3 not 4!

DEVIL with a vertical suplex and body scissors. She gets a full nelson as well and then with the legs, but Saori is able to slip out. An Irish whip, corner clothesline by DEVIL, snap mare and a leg drop gets 2 for her. Back to the chinlock now to keep Saori grounded, Saori works to her feet but DEVIL clubs away at the back. The Champion goes for the DEVIL Driver but Saori counters into a DDT and BOTH ladies are down. They get to their feet, trade forearms center ring, Saori then unloads and gets a clothesline. Saori up top... Missle Dropkick! She covers for 2. Spike evaded, DEVIL counters and gets a roll up for 2. Fisherwoman's suplex by DEVIL gets 2. Saori counters a DVD into a roll up for 2. 2, 2, 2, 2... each woman is desperate for the pin. Off the ropes, reversal and... Nakadan Spike! by Saori and that is for 3!

Wow. I did not think you would let Devil drop the belt to Nakadan. Which of course cascaded down my entire lineup of picks.

Well, at least we can start smarking for a Dragon Assassin World Title win!
