Buffalo at least has a high menace stat that can be used to keep his overness. Just make him an enforcer for a top heel or stable, and limit his matches to dominating squashes. Have him do menace attack angles on the main stars to get the high segment ratings.

That's pretty much what Buffalo is doing now. Same as Rahn, and not too much different than Peak, though Peak has an actual feud going on. I keep wavering on Buffalo. He can certainly be useful. He's not that good, but he's not that terrible - its just a matter of being careful with who had has singles matches again (no different than my champion, Rocky Golden). And he has a decently experienced tag team partner I could go with as a long term deal. Menace is valuable, and he's already reasonably over (unlikely a lot of high Menace guys). So yeah, I can definitely find a use for him...

The main problem I come to is that the "find a use" mentality is essentially what lead me to having such a bloated roster in my Supreme diary game. I didn't want to get rid of anyone that I could "find a use" for... and I could find that for almost anyone. Not that they were necessarily needed, or even be used in that role, but I could think of it. I signed too many guys with that same mentality. I am really trying not to bloat the roster, and I've already added some young talent that's moving into the midcard faster than I intended.

Another factor - I hate the idea of gutting a promotion. Nothing wrong with doing it, but I don't find it particularly realistic in most diaries, not without a good story behind. I remember getting annoyed when I'd read about people playing as TCW on TEW 2008, and talking about how they got rid of Painful Procedure immediately, jobbed Baine and Rahn down to the midcard, found no use for Texas Pete, etc. I could understand, but it always bugged me. So just dumping American Buffalo starts to feel a bit like that...

Anyway, maybe the SWF snatches him away from me and I don't have to worry at all...

Great show BP, and Troy's promo was excellent. Bryan Vessey has just got a serious popularity boost with me after seeing Ritchie Blackmore plays his entrance theme :D

Thanks. "Hollywood" is fun - and easy - to write for. Got some notable plans for him. Want to say more, but I'll bite my tongue and hold off...

Total Championship Wrestling Newswire

From TCW.com

Wednesday, Week 3 March 2010

It would appear that those who believed that Tommy Cornell's stubborn hubris would see him triumph over the decrees of the Home Office are in for a rude awakening. As is Mr. Cornell himself. Althought it has yet to be confirmed by the Home Office, rumors strongly suggest that Cornell faces the possiblity of being removed from the four-way number one contender match next week on Total Wrestling.

The issue, of course, is Cornell's refusal to honor a verbal match stipulation agreement made with Ricky Dale Johnson prior to The War to Settle the Score pay per view last month. Despite pleas of cooperation from the Home Office, Cornell has refused to cease his association with the young man he consideres his protégé, Wolf Hawkins.

The rumor at hand suggests that Cornell will be told to apologize during the show or he will lose his spot in the four-way match, thereby making the number one contender match a three-way.

In addition, it seems that Cornell will face sanctions from the Home Office regardless of what happens next week on Total Wrestling. Intermediaries indicate that the Office is not impressed at all with Cornell's behavior and will look to make an example out of him. He is current facing both a serious fine and a suspension.

Tommy Cornell has made a career out of putthing himself int the best possible position and fighting his way out of any corner he does put himself in. Its difficult to imagine just how he's going to fight his way out of this one, however.

Mark 8.0

The Silver Lining

I have always preferred silver to gold.

Gold – whether its simply the color or the actual precious metal – has always seemed too flashy to me. Ostentatious. I get the appeal and the value of it, but it just doesn't really appeal to me. Silver, however, seems far classier and just subtle enough.

Of course, I cannot current voice this opinion without it sounding like a pickup line.

Before she was hired a couple of months ago, very few within Total Championship Wrestling knew who Sara Silver was. As the color commentator for Babes of Sin City for the past few years, she was in one of the most remote outposts in the American wrestling scene. One might think that would still put her on the radar of many within the industry... but you would think wrong. I believe a great many fans would be shocked if they ever realized how many people inside this industry are ignorant of anything that doesn't happen within their particular bubble. And most of those bubbles aren't very big. Most within TCW don't pay attention to anything outside of the scope of the "Big Two"... they feel that even USPW isn't worth paying attention to, despite having the likes of Liberty, Bruce the Giant, and now Baine and Enygma.

That is not to say everyone within TCW - and the SWF, for that matter - know nothing beyond their own doorsteps. But few focus on the indies, unless it involves friends.

When I say that I knew of Silver before she arrived, its not meant as bragging. My extensive knowledge of wrestling around the globe is well-respected with in the halls of TCW-HQ. I am a dork, but so what? When someone needs to know who headlined the most recent WLW show or who just got called up to the Burning Hammer main roster from Hinote Dojo, they know to come ask me. As I've said, I fill many roles here in Total Championship Wrestling.

So while many within TCW probably couldn't tell you a thing about Babes of Sin City, I have actually been to several of their shows. That's more to do with the fact that Las Vegas is TCW's second home than anything else, but it doesn't change the fact that I've seen them live multiple times.

I guess I can't blame most within the wrestling industry for paying little attention to BSC. T&A promotions are hardly well-regarded, especially by those who take their "sport" particularly serious. Some are downright disgusted by promotions like BSC, where in-ring talent matters far less than looks and no show is complete without a bit of "accidental" nudity. You are probably more likely to find BSC DVDs on sale at an adult retailer than a most wrestling sites. Truth be told, the BSC DVDs that I have are never featured front and center in my DVD library, lest they be mistaken for pornography.

All of that aside, no one was quite sure what Silver was supposed to do when she was hired. She was decent enough as a color commentator in BSC, one of the highlights of many of their DVDs... beyond the "accidental" nudity, of course. That said, she's not amazing at the role and she doesn't have a background in the business. Its hard to imagine her as the replacement for Rhodes, even down the road. Not unless the focus of TCW changes again, and that seems unlikely.

Bryant and Cornell don't tend to communicate their plans when its not required. They only gave me little pieces of their plan for Silver, despite the fact that I was releasing introductory articles for her and several workers onto TCW.com. I figured out pretty quickly that she was going to be a manager, but whether that was a full on stable-leader manager or just a pretty valet, I didn't find out until she debuted on Uprising TV.

Each week for the past month, Silver has cut a pretty good promo about her stable, Planet Silver. Watching them back-to-back in sequence, you can actually see her growing more comfortable and confident with her character and her role in each one. Al tough most of the talent who will join her stable are already working matches on the B show or pre-show, none have been introduced as part of her stable yet. The storyline is that she was hired by the Home Office to find and recruit talent from around the globe to introduce into TCW. An interesting way to justify bringing in the new blood.

In addition to her role as manager, it would seem Sara Silver has a second role within the Total Championship Wrestling structure... My assistant.

I am not quite sure how this has come to be. Since the stable hasn't official formed on-screen yet and she's not actively manager any workers, Silver isn't on the road except for the broadcast shows. Until she becomes an active manager and travels to the house shows, she spends most of her week at TCW-HQ... where this is really no role for her. The Boss and Bryant are apparently concerned that her lack of detailed wrestling knowledge will show through at some point, so she's been tasked with "studying up" while she's here. And for that, they sent her my way.

So you can now add "teacher" to the list of my many roles within TCW.

Thankfully, Sara has turned out to be almost as versatile as myself. So while I'm spending time teaching her the intricacies of the history of professional wrestling in North America, she has been helping me out with some stuff for the website. Editing, proof-reading, brain-storming, and even writing a few small articles. The lady is versatile. More than making herself useful, she has also made herself at home. Yesterday, she apparently decided that my office is big enough for two, setting up her laptop on the small secondary desk in my office.

I briefly contemplated a power trip and bouncing her out of my office to the curt. Well, it wouldn't be the curb – it would be back to the cafeteria, where she was having to situate temporarily while an actual office was found. I thought better of it, for the simple fact that sharing an office with a beautiful woman has its benefits. Especially when that beautiful woman is funny, out-going, loves to tell stories, and is just all around entertaining.

It didn't take long for me to begin to thoroughly enjoy sharing my office with Miss Silver. If there is only half truth in the stories she tells, the lady has stuffed a lot of living into her 28 years. That said, I don't get the impression that she is embellishing them, either. Its not just having good stories that is key – its how she is able to tell them. Endless entertainment.

The week leading up to pay per views always get a bit hectic around TCW-HQ. Trying to make sure everything is in place puts everyone under extra pressure. The week before that is usually a bit calmer than normal, as everyone tries to relax a bit before the coming stress. So this was has been a nicely quiet week because of that. The Boss seems to be back to normal. Which is to still sour, demanding, and occasionally gruff. But at least not preoccupied and distracted.

Sara and I spent the afternoon going back and forth on stories. I was trying to explain the importance of Master Kitozon to professional wrestling in Japan as a whole, while she filled the interludes with tales of of how the smart, geeky girl from a small town in Montana had ended up deciding to forgo college after high school and instead moved to Vegas by herself at 18 years old. It made for an entertaining day, thought not particularly productive.

The two suddenly became through as The Boss strode into my office. No knocking for Mr. Cornell – not when it's his company. And he usually didn't bother to knock when he was just one of many owners, either.

“What the hell are you two doing?” he growled at us. Moreso, I assumed at me.

“Talking,” I answered with a shrug. “Sara know understands the importance of Master Kitozon and I know how much money a Vegas showgirl can make.” Sara giggled. After considering this for a moment, Cornell nodded.

“Alright,” he said, letting it hang dramatically. Every so often, it felt like he wasn't speaking to me so much as cutting a promo to me. “Now then, got an idea for you. Both of you, really. Magazine. What do you think, then?”

Neither of us answered because neither of us were really sure what he was asking. Sara still didn't seem that comfortable around the Boss, so I requested clarification, “You mean, like a newsstand magazine?”

“Right. You know, glossy pages. 100 pages. Monthly. Maybe bi-monthly. What do you think?”

“I think that's a lot of work,” I responded cautiously.

“Its just an idea. Joel kicked it up. See what you can do.”

“Uh, what?”

The Boss looked at me, exasperated. He spoke slowly, like I was a child, saying, “Look, put something together. A couple articles, some glossy photos. I need to see what it would look like.”

“Okay,” I shrugged. No use telling how much work that would probably be. He didn't care. “When?”

“Whenever. Its just an idea.”

Just an idea. One that could take endless hours to throw together. And if he decides he likes it, I'll probably be helping with that every month. We already do full color programs for each show, so I'm sure the crew from that would be involved in the magazine as well.

Was there a market for it? I expected so. There are about a half dozen monthly publications you can find on any newsstand that all revolve around pro wrestling. One of those is the SWF's magazine, but the others all seem to sell well enough. I'm sure Tee-Cee-Dub fans would sell out an extra six or seven dollars a month for a few articles and a bunch of pictures. I was also fairly certain Cornell would have the proposition studied more thoroughly with some market assessments and such before making a decision. I just didn't understand way the “test” layout was being done in-house and by me. Whatever.

With a nod at both of us, The Boss departed as abruptly as he had strode in. Sara grinned at me.

"What?" I demanded.

"Did I ever tell you about the time I wrote for Vegas Skin magazine?" she asked, launching into another one of her patented and entertaining stories.

Ricky Dale Johnson vs Rick Law vs Bryan Vessey vs <strong>Tommy Cornell</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Let's see RDJ and Vessey are both faces, so I'm going to rule them out. So that leaves Law and Cornell. Whilst Law would provide the fresher match up are you going to risk the success of the next PPV on a match between a couple of hosses who can be carried to a good match with the right opponent but probably couldn't carry a good match against one another. At the end of the day Cornell, brings ratings.</em></p>

<em>I see the champ staying strong even if non title, and I don't buy Tommy caving in this quickly. If he wants a title match that bad, he would just attack Golden to have Rocky demand the match.</em></p>

Brent Hill vs Rocky Golden

Even though it's non-title I can't see Hill going over Golden, especially right before a big PPV.

Benny Benson vs Freddy Huggins

You appear to be buliding Benson up with his fued against Peak, so this win will be to bolster him somewhat.

Total Violence Connection (Eddie Peak & Genghis Rahn) vs Burning Pride (Koshiro Ino & Joshua Taylor)

Thank-you for listing the names of the workers in the tag team. Very Helpful! Don't really have any comments about the matchup though...

Joey Minnesota vs American Buffalo

Like you said, American Buffalo is just here to look tough, so give the win to Joey.

Troy Tornado vs Guide

I just can't see a dedicated Tag guy going over Tornado right now, especially with the attention that Troy's been getting of late.

Ricky Dale Johnson vs Rick Law vs Bryan Vessey vs Tommy Cornell

Like someone else mentioned, RDJ and Vessey are ruled out due to them being faces. I have a feeling Cornell may not end up participating in this match, so I'm going for Law.

Edit: Just checked the first page. Is Rick Law still an upper midcarder? If he is, that'll certainly make him winning here less of a sure thing...but I'll stick with my initial prediction!!!

No, Law is now a solid main eventer. I need to update the roster list on the first page - one of those things I have meant to do for a couple of weeks now and just keep putting off.

I will say that the number one contender four-way is a match where anyone could win. If it stays a four-way, that is, which is a big question. But all four men have the overness and momentum to take a win here, without damaging the others significantly. I know RDJ and Vessey are both being discounted by many for being faces. However, despite the strong face/heel divide in TCW, I do believe a face-face main event could work for a PPV. Plus, having either RDJ or Vessey face Golden would make for some interesting storylines going forward.
