It was rumored that the ship of the famous philosopher Thomas Aquatic, a distant relative of Lone Shark, was pulled to the briny depths, taking a prophetic tablet along with it that may hold the key to victory. The pair were able to discover the ancient artifact and, unable to translate it, gave it to Man O' War for safekeeping. For weeks, the Avenger of the Ocean has been deciphering the code of the tablet in his underwater fortress, until... Devilfish and Lone Shark, casually swimming in the ZEN Temple's pool, are alarmed as both of their video wrist watches (waterproof, thankfully) go off at the same time! Devilfish (accepting the video call): "It's Man O' War!" http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/7321/warta.jpg Man O' War: "Ahoy, me hearties! (pausing to take a swig of rum) "Celebrate! We'll make those bilge-suckers walk the plank in no time!" Lone Shark: "Spit it out, man, what did you find?" Man O' War: "Why, the prophecy, matie!" Devilfish: "There's a prophecy? What prophecy?" Man O' War: "There be a chosen one, maties, and he be the key to the outcome of the war! We'll finally be rid of those F.E.A.R goons for good!" Lone Shark: "Well, who is it?" Man O' War: "Ye'll have to see it to believe it!" Seeing the picture of this "Chosen One" fill up the screen of his watch, Devilfish celebrates with Lone Shark as they open up a new chapter in the war against F.E.A.R. John Lions
One year ago... http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/7169/hallowarpedjhd2.jpg Working at a comic book shop had its perks, especially in a place like New Zealand. There were enough eccentrics here that there were more regular customers than your typical sitcom bar. Plus, I was obsessed with reading comic books, so it helped that I could do so free of charge, too. "The usual, Mr. Bendis?" I said, scarcely looking up from my issue of The Adventures of Aqualad and Shark Boy to acknowledge the long-time frequenter of the tiny shop. http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/9742/quentinwednesday.jpg "I'm not here for that, John..." He said, pausing. "How much do you know about comic books?" "Enough, I guess..." I trailed off, with no idea where he was going with this. "How would you like to work for me?" I considered the offer for a moment. I didn't get paid all that much here, but I don't even know job I'd be walking into! "Sir, I work here, and I doubt I'm experienced enough to work for a businessman like yourself-" "Who was it that Dr. Apocalypse kidnapped in Issue #24 of Aqualad and Shark Boy?" He snapped, interrupting me. "His father, of course, ask me a hard question." "You're more than qualified, John Lions. I need someone with a mind like yours. I'm stretching myself too thin and can't rely on anyone else to think like me. You come close enough." I bit. "What exactly is it you do, Mr. Bendis?" "Well..." http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/8103/hallowarpedalt1.jpg One year later, and I'm out of school and getting paid more than I ever imagined to do what I love. Who would have ever thought that the unassuming businessman I had gotten to know over the years was the sadistic Halloween Knight? It's taken a while for my storylines to filter into ZEN, as Knight (who fervently insists I don't call him by his real name anymore, even outside of the Temple) had booked enough to last for months. His intentions with passing the torch to me were so he could do something he's been wanting to do for a while - train the wrestling stars of tomorrow. And I took the bait, again. http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/6896/halloweenknight.jpg "Get up, you waste of breathe! How do you expect to get out there for hundreds of thousands of fans if you can't wrestle for ten minutes without passing out like a woman!" He wouldn't be saying that if he had to carry this 18 year old rookie who called himself "Azazel" to a match worth watching. Despite working me hard, Halloween Knight's taken me under his wing, or so it seems. He has high expectations of me, in the ring and outside of it. Hopefully I can live up to them. Zergon
Nice to see you back and ZEN is always an entertaining choice:). CARNIVAL OF FUN: C-W-A vs Vertigo Little unlikely that Vertigo wins here but he´s a tag champ plus for some reason I don´t like C-W-A all that much. Nightmare Stalker vs The Anarchist No idea here ZEN CONCEPTUAL: Shaolin© vs X-Calibre I have a soft spot on ninjas and no title change in first show rule kicks in here too, though X-Calibre is one of the more likely guys to eventually carry the invisible title. Man O' War vs Necromancer As far as I know Man O´War is the least impostant member on their aquatic team so I hope that Necromancer goes over him (and yes I like F.E.A.R, it´s a stable which is let by a guy with skeleton costume how could I not like that?) DevilShark (Devilfish and Lone Shark) vs The Enemy (Cyanide and Massacre) Top two faces vs. least important duo in F.E.A.R, can´t see how this could go any other way. Good backstory. Hey, thanks a lot for the overwhelming support everyone! Good to see new readers, and old readers returning. Hopefully, after I'm done with the first couple shows, you'll all have a better grasp of the ZEN family if you don't have one already. And trust me, unless the creative portion of my brain is the victim of a lobotomy, then I see this lasting for a while. The 'Previously on Zen' bit was so much like a cartoon I was temporarily blinded by its awesomeness. Maybe... ... My shamefully non-existent knowledge of Australia comes into its own here. I don't even know if we are only allowed clean finishes! That was the goal If only clean finishes were allowed, this would be a lot more difficult to write. If this turns out half as good as the alt pictures you're working on making for me, than this is going to be a GREAT dynasty I love ZEN. It's just a great roster. You're avatar looks a little bit like HalloWarped... which if it turns out to be him; that would be sensational! Nice call. Yeah, I usually shy away from generic user characters, and I was fascinated by the idea of Halloween Knight's protege having a hand in running things. Thankfully, jhd1 was kind enough to humanize him so we don't have a creepy masked guy selling comic books * ZEN Way of the Dreamer will be up tomorrow night. I'm planning on doing a show every 2-3 days, as the show per day limit was burning me out with KCCW. On a different note, ZEN: Blurring the Line will be much more focused on angles, so my matches will probably be lacking in detail unless it's a major blow off match or if I feel necessary for excess description. Thanks again to all the predictors, much more than I ever received in 150 pages of KCCW To reward you for predicting, the contest will be as follows. Top predictor after one year: Gets a choice between picking a wrestler to join the ZEN family, or picking a gimmick for the worker (be creative!) Second in predictions (or tied for first): Gets to choose whatever the #1 predictor didn't choose, though neither will know what the other picked until said worker debuts. TLLK
John, you are the man. I love ZEN and ZEN dynasties, so I'm making a solemn vow to follow and predict this one the whole way. I've played with this awesome promotion a few times, so I've got a bit of roster knowledge. CARNIVAL OF FUN: C-W-A vs Vertigo I don't really know what a "Carnival of Fun" match is, but it screams to me that C-W-A has the upper hand in it. I don't think this rivalry will end with this match, though. Nightmare Stalker vs The Anarchist Can Nightmare Stalker beat someone without his tag team partner? Not with an awesome name and render like The Anarchist involved... ZEN CONCEPTUAL: Shaolin© vs X-Calibre Shaolin doesn't really belong here! Just kidding. He's not as awesome or has such a "dedication" to the Conceptual title like X-Calibre does. I also think X-Calibre's successful title takeback will help expand the storyline you have in the first post. Man O' War vs Necromancer Deep down, I'm a big F.E.A.R. fan. Man O' War? Not one of my favorites. Give Necromancer the W! DevilShark (Devilfish and Lone Shark) vs The Enemy (Cyanide and Massacre) Two of your most talented (and coolest) workers against the worst part of F.E.A.R? DevilShark takes this one. Standing in the ring, C-W-A watches with glee as the stagehands work to set up the ring for the Carnival of Fun match. Outside of the ring, there is a table in which custard pie after custard pie sits, waiting to be thrown. There is a tank filled with helium and a couple of massive balloon animals stringed down to the floor. There's even a mirror, with a stand covered in various different types of make-up applicable to one in C-W-A's field of work. C-W-A: "Vertigo... all I wanted to do was make the children happy! I was making that balloon elephant, the one you decided to sit on, for the local hospital, for children in the burn ward! And you destroyed it! It was my masterpiece! What's funny is he doesn't care about any of you! If he cared so much about making you all laugh, he would have spent the required time in clown college getting a degree, like I did!" The crowd start booing C-W-A, which only gets him even more angry. "Don't boo me... you should be laughing and cheering! Look at my nose, it's bright red, and when I squeeze it, it makes a noise, see?" The crowd continue to boo him. "I'm wearing make-up... but I'm a guy! The crowd pops as Man O' War crotches Necromancer on the ropes, keeping him from taking advantage with one of the many high-risk moves in his arsenal. Playing to the crowd, Man O' War sets up for Neptune's Trident, a Polish hammer. Stamping his feet, Man O' War looks to have the match at hand - until Necromancer grabs his arm, twisting him into the devastating Death Scream! The modified gogoplata leaves no room for error, and, despite his heart, Man O' War goes unconscious shortly after Necromancer locks it in. WINNER: Necromancer ________________________ http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/7687/necromancer.jpg ...A sore winner?... Rather than release the hold, Necromancer keeps it locked in, aiming to injure the Avenger of the Ocean! It takes nearly a minute for Steven Yale to find out what's going on, but it's no use - there are only two people in ZEN who can make him release the hold... http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3764/devilfish.jpghttp://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1227/lonesharkalt.jpg The aquatic duo rush to the ring, but the damage is already done. Blood is seeping out of Man O' War's mask, and officials are needed to stretcher him to the back. Necromancer looks on, emotionless, as DevilShark approaches... http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/9174/cyanidem.jpghttp://img682.imageshack.us/img682/3598/massacresn.jpg ...only for his fellow F.E.A.R. agents to jump them from behind, starting the match with the ball in their court! ________________________ DevilShark (Devilfish and Lone Shark) vs The Enemy (Cyanide and Massacre) http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3764/devilfish.jpghttp://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1227/lonesharkalt.jpghttp://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5315/versusw.jpghttp://img143.imageshack.us/img143/9174/cyanidem.jpghttp://img682.imageshack.us/img682/3598/massacresn.jpg These two teams have a lot of history with each other, and it shows. Cyanide starts off against Devilfish, working on grounding him with his superior mat skills. Locking in painful submissions onto the unpredictable, multicolored water-breather's legs, Devilfish can barely stand by the time he tags out to the massive Massacre. The big Samoan brutalizes Devilfish, but he comes on the wrong side of an attempted slam as Devilfish counters with a DDT! Both of them work to get to their partners, but Devilfish uses his experienced swimming techniques to flop to his corner first, tagging in to Lone Shark! The ZEN Icon clotheslines Cyanide off the apron, isolating Massacre, and hits a hurracanrana on the big man as he gets to his feet! Showing off his impressive strength, Lone Shark lifts the near-300 pounder up... and drills him to the mat with Blood In The Water (Styles Clash)! With both men down, Lone Shark is able to make an impressive (albeit generic) comeback and win the match for his team! John Lions
PREDICTION RESULTS: 5/5 - 20LEgend, TheLeviticalLawKid3 4/5 - critical23, Nightshadeex, jhd1, MichiganHero, MaxxHexx 3/5 - Zergon, flat_doughnut, Jingo, CJAlex 2/5 - BHK1978, Poppers 1/5 - Dragonmack An incredible 14 predictors, with only two of you managing to get 5/5. Impressive, considering how every match could have gone either way. Don't be discouraged (even you Dragonmack) as once you get a bearing of ZEN, it should get a bit easier to predict As always, any feedback, criticisms, etc would be great - this is nearly triple the predictions I ever received with my last couple diaries, so I hope I lived up to all of your expectations * ZEN Way of the Scholar http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/4774/zenscholar.jpg _________________________ Non-Title The Mercs vs The Sky Kings http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/5791/erasert.jpghttp://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1326/jestera.jpghttp://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5315/versusw.jpghttp://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4049/vertigoi.jpghttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/2503/superzero.jpg After Jester's mysterious attack on Vertigo last week, The Sky Kings look to get payback. Zergon
NON-TITLE: The Mercs vs The Sky Kings To me this one is the harders to predict here, but in the end I give the edge to Mercs, because I like them more and since win here would likely lead to a title match. Nightmare Slasher vs The Anarchist I still go with Anarchist after getting good results on last show Massacre vs Quick Silver Quick Silver might not like getting attacked but he will be the punching bag here ZEN CONCEPTUAL: X-Calibre© vs Mirror Universe John Gordon (w/Guru Vishni) Well my title don´t change in first show rule didn´t hold but hopefully the new champ won´t lose his first defense rule holds a little better:p Lone Shark vs Necromancer Lone Shark is the guy who is most likely to challenge Knight so he should be able to beat Necromancer, though since most members on both sides don´t have matches on this show, there will likely be some interferences that could mix up the things here. Jingo
Nice start John, sets up some instant feuds. NON-TITLE: The Mercs vs The Sky Kings I don't think C.W.A is done, and it'll also set you up some number one contenders if the Mercs win here .. Nightmare Slasher vs The Anarchist Shenanigans galore .. Massacre vs Quick Silver I like the big guys chances here .. ZEN CONCEPTUAL: X-Calibre© vs Mirror Universe John Gordon (w/Guru Vishni) I could see a double switch here due to interfearance with all the attention X-Calibre is getting .. but i'll go with the Champ. Lone Shark vs Necromancer I can see all sorts of shenanigans going down but the fishys come out on top.
