Well, Texas Wrestling fans, the month of February, 1979, is heating up to be the hottest month in the history of our sport! What a card we have for you this week. Here are the announced matches:

Trailer Park Kid w/Debbie Dallas v. 'Luscious' Lee Wright w/Shane Sneer

The Trailer Park Kid is slowly becoming one of the most popular members of the TWL roster while Wright is a relative newcomer. But will the presence of Shane Sneer at ringside turn the tide in favor of the Luscious one?

Team Texas (Archie 'The Governor' Judge/Dave 'Double-Wide' Wylde) w/Debbie Dallas v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

This one promises to be quite a battle as the evil foreign constituency takes on the purest form of Americanness in the form of Team Texas. Who will prevail?

TWL Six-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

The West Coast Warriors are slated to earn a rematch against the Pain Hunters. Last week, Double Disaster won the TWL Tag Team titles. Can they replicate their success here?

Luis Montero w/Shannon v. Johnny Lawless

Montero has been on the short end of several matches as of late, particularly owing to the constant interference of Cheatin' Mike Barstow. Can Montero overcome the odds (and the always-dangerous Johnny Lawless) to emerge victorious?

PLUS: Stampy has promised the debut of a newly-signed youngster, Sam 'Twelve' Gauge. Will he have any impact on the night's event? You'll have to tune in to find out!

Quick Picks:

Trailer Park Kid v. Lee Wright w/Shane Sneer

Team Texas (Archie 'The Governor' Judge/Dave 'Double-Wide' Wylde) w/Debbie Dallas v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

TWL Six-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

Luis Montero w/Shannon v. Johnny Lawless

OOC: 'Silent' Sam Keith won the Choose Your Own Adventure 5 votes to 4 over 'Special K' (Sam 'Twelve' Gauge had three votes). But I actually prefer Beeker's name for Keith/Gauge as it seems to fit better into the 70s Texas wrestling scene. So I'll be using the silent assassin gimmick, with bits taken liberally from Beeker's Twelve Gauge idea.

Don't fret, fans of the Party Animals. Bone-Dogg and Chase will still be getting a pledge soon enough. I have too many Animal House-esque ideas for that concept to die. Toga...Toga...Toga...

- I'm not sold on TPK as an actual talent, his name just screams comedy jobber to the stars BUT this is TEXAS and the 70s and Lee Wright is screaming for a partner a la the Midnight Express.

Team Texas (Archie 'The Governor' Judge/Dave 'Double-Wide' Wylde) w/Debbie Dallas v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

- How is it possible that the great state of Texas loses to a Polish city? I don't know but it's gonna happen. Cold War Crush!

TWL Six-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

- Since the Pain Hunters just earned a name and WCW are going though some tense times I think things look bad for the leader of the New School.

Luis Montero w/Shannon v. Johnny Lawless

- I like Montero well enough but I just don't see him going over Lawless yet. Johnny has his sights set on Chief Two Pigeon and needs the momentum.

Re: Sam "Twelve" Gauge I wanted a nick that suited Texas and the 70s. Silent is fine but really I think it would hamper Gauge's skills. Also make him a man of few words but not silent. And feel free to liberally use as much as you want from my write-in nominee. It's why I went into the detail I did.

Texas Wrestling

Irvine Hall (MidSouth)

January (Week One) 1979

Attendance: 4,386

Rating: 0.16 on Channel 7 Regional

The program kicked off with its now-standard opening, a camera zoomed in on a young girl kneeling beside her bed, hands folded as if in prayer. “And God bless Mother, and God bless Father. But most of all, God bless Texas!” Then the screen cut to the Lone Star Stampeder and Lawrence Grove, seated behind a desk at ringside.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/TheLoneStarStampeder.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MarvinEarnest.jpg

“Good evening and welcome Texas wrestling fans! I’m Lawrence Grove and I’m joined, as always, by the Lone Star Stampeder. Stampy, what do we have in store for our fans tonight?”

“Well Lawrence, we’ve got one heck of a card scheduled. Our main event features two of the bright, young stars of TWL, the Mexican Sensation Luis Montero against the leader of the Texas Outlaws Johnny Lawless. And if that isn’t enough, we’ve also got the TWL Six-Man belts on the line when the Pain Hunters defend against Jason Jackson and the West Coast Warriors! But first, we’re headed to the ring where one-half of Shane Sneer’s Sneer Corporation, ‘Luscious’ Lee Wright, is set to do battle against the crowd-favorite Trailer Park Kid!”

Trailer Park Kid w/Debbie Dallas v. ‘Luscious’ Lee Wright w/Shane Sneer

Billy’s Take: Wright and Sneer emerged first, Sneer alternating between whispering encouragement to Wright and belittling the fans sitting at ringside. When the Trailer Park Kid came out, the crowd roared – though it’s rather difficult to tell whether it was due to him (as always, he is James-Dean-cool languidly smoking a cigarette) or because of the vivacious Debbie Dallas bouncing to the ring at his side. Once the bell rang, this was a surprisingly good match. Wright is still green, but Sneer’s near-constant interference at ringside hid many of his youthful flaws. And the Trailer Park Kid is becoming a reliable, steady performer. Though the back and forth was solid, the outcome was really never in doubt as the Trailer Park Kid connected with a Double-Wide Dive to pick up the win.

Match Rating: C-

“Woo-wee partner, what a contest! Seems Shane Sneer loses again – cain’t say I’m too durn disappointed by that. Whaddya say Lawrence?”

“I absolutely agree. Now next up, fans, we’re bringing to you an interview with the West Coast Warriors I conducted earlier this afternoon. And we apologize in advance for some of the crude comments made by Jason Jackson.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MarvinEarnest.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JasonJackson_MJSTARK.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Eruption.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Tsunami.jpg

Cameras cut backstage to where Lawrence Grove stood holding a microphone, surrounded by ‘New School’ Jason Jackson, Eruption, and Tsunami. “Jason Jackson, I understand that you have a statement to make about tonight’s upcoming rematch pitting you and your partners, the TWL Tag Team Champions, Double Disaster, against the Six-Man Champions Pain and the New Zealand Game Hunters, Croup and Vandemar.” Grove chuckled slightly. “Guess you’re the only one without a belt, isn’t that right Jason?” Jackson glared at Grove, burning a hole right through the announcer’s head. “Listen up Lawrence and listen closely. After tonight, Jason Jackson – the Carlsbad Cool Cat, the Huntington Beach Hipster, the Sacramento Superstar – will be once again wearing gold here in this ****-hole of a state. I will regain the Six-Man titles. With or without any help from these guys,” he pointed thumbs dismissively at the gigantic Samoan duo. “Mark…my…words. I will leave here a champion once more.” Jackson stormed off, Double Disaster just a step behind. C+

“Strong words there from Jason Jackson. Doesn’t look like he much cares for you Lawrence.”

“Guess you’re right Stampy. Seems ‘New School’ doesn’t like being made fun of! Well folks, up next we’ve got one of our favorite teams, Team Texas, doing battle against those evil foreigners Panzer and Comrade Popinowski – Warsaw Pact!”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ArchiJudge1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/DaveWylde.jpg w/http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/DebbieDallas.jpg

Team Texas (Archie ‘The Governor’ Judge/Dave ‘Double-Wide’ Wylde) w/Debbie Dallas v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

Billy’s Take: Once again the crowd wildly cheered Debbie Dallas, and her charges Archie ‘The Governor’ Judge and Dave ‘Double-Wide’ Wylde – the latter mimicking his ‘mentor’ Trailer Park Kid by taking long drags from a cigarette dangling from between his thin lips. When Warsaw Pact entered, the crowd turned, almost immediately beginning a ‘U…S…A’ chant aimed at the foreign powerhouses. Inside the ring, Team Texas was overwhelmed by the power of the Warsaw Pact. As usual, they fought valiantly but when Popinowski smashed Wylde in the chest with a Polish Hammer right into the arms of the waiting Panzer, who hit Wylde with a vicious Sickle, the match was soon over.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/SamKeith_alt1.jpg

As Archie Judge checked on his fallen partner, a man wearing a long brown duster and faded blue jeans along with a worn leather fedora jumped over the guardrail and slid effortlessly into the ring. Judge took a step towards him and moved as if to strike. The newcomer reacted, lightning-quick. He deftly turned the punch away and locked Judge into a strange hold, twisting him as Judge shrieked in agony. As quickly as he’d arrived, the newcomer (the guy who I’d seen at the gym earlier in the week) left as he’d came – vaulting the guardrail and exiting through the crowd.

Warsaw Pact d. Team Texas via Hammer and Sickle

Match Rating: E+

“Well those boys hung tough but the power of Panzer and Popinowski was just too much to overcome.”

“Durn right Lawrence. But who was that guy in the duster? Looked mighty tough. I’m purty sure we ain’t seen the last of him. Welp, up next the Pain Hunters defend their belts against that snot-nosed brat Jason Jackson and the TWL Tag Team Champions – Double Disaster. Let’s head to the ring!”

TWL Six-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. West Coast Warriors (‘New School’ Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

Billy’s Take: The Pain Hunters are not typical babyfaces. They don’t kiss babies or shake hands. But they do kick some serious ass. So when they entered the arena, the crowd – particularly the type of fans who worship Black Sabbath– cheered loudly. When the Warriors emerged, they were booed mightily – causing Jason Jackson to throw an absolute tantrum. He grabbed the microphone and demanded silence – which, of course, riled up the crowd even more. Jackson seemed fixated on the championship belts as I displayed them to the audience as the two teams were introduced. Inside the ring, as was the case when these teams last met, this was an absolute slugfest. There were no arm drags or firemen’s carries. There were no wristlocks or Greco-Roman knuckle locks. Instead there were stiff punches and kicks, bone-jarring clotheslines and snot-bubbling shoulder tackles. In the end, despite this being an incredibly even affair, the Pain Hunters came out on top as Pain battled both Eruption and Tsunami on the outside while Croup and Vandemar viciously attacked Jackson. Croup connected with a powerslam and Vandemar pounced on him – catlike – to secure the pinfall victory, retaining the Six-Man Titles in the process.

Pain Hunters d. West Coast Warriors to retain the TWL Six-Man Titles

Match Rating: C

“Holy Toledo. Vandemar and Croup are impressive inside that squared circle. But I’m sure Jason Jackson ain’t gonna be happy with that outcome!”

“Right you are, Stampy. Wait a second folks, let’s head back down to the ring. Apparently we’ve got an incident occurring.”

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ProfessorNero1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/DemonAnger1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/DemonSpite1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/WarlordPain_jhdAJ2.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Croup.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Vandemar.jpg

Grove was correct. After the match, after cameras had already initially cut away, Professor Nero and the Demons of Rage – Demon Anger and Demon Spite – strode purposefully down to the ring. As the Demons distracted and engaged the New Zealand Game Hunters, Nero jumped the unsuspecting Pain. A shot from Nero’s ever-present cane to the back of Pain’s head floored the monster. Nero used his cane to reign down blow upon blow until Pain lay in a pool of his own blood, wearing the proverbial crimson mask. Apparently satisfied, Nero called off the Demons of Rage, who reluctantly left their fight with the New Zealand Game Hunters to rejoin their master. Nero grabbed a microphone. “You call yourself Pain?” he cackled into the microphone. “That is just the beginning of the…pain…you will feel for betraying the Disciples of Evilness!” He let out another maniacal cackle, grabbing Pain’s hat as he passed – apparently taking a souvenir for good measure. C+

“Not surprising that Professor Nero would take such a cheap shot at Pain. He’s still down in the ring.”

“Well like it or not, Nero has certainly sent a message. It looks like medical personnel has helped Pain to the backstage area. So we’ll head back down to the ring for our main event pitting Luis Montero against Johnny Lawless!”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/LuisMontero1977.jpg w/http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ShannonKelly.jpg VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JohnnyLawless.jpg

Luis Montero w/Shannon v. Johnny Lawless

Billy’s Take: Luis Montero, despite his recent run of poor luck (aided greatly by a healthy dose of Cheatin’ Mike Barstow’s casted right arm) is still a fan favorite. The crowd cheered his arrival as lustily as they booed that of his opponent – Johnny Lawless, the leader of the Texas Outlaws. As the black-masked Outlaw entered the ring, he glared at Shannon, reminding our viewers of their former relationship. Inside the ring, Lawless seemed intent on reminding Montero of this as well. Nearly every punch or kick was punctuated by Lawless glaring at his former love. But Montero, despite this early flurry, rebounded nicely and this match settled into an enjoyable back and forth. Montero executed phenomenal feats of athleticism which Lawless could sometimes match (and when he couldn’t, cheating evened the playing field). Montero connected with a jumping piledriver, but Lawless’ feet were too near the ropes and I was forced to break the count. Then Lawless hit the Power Lariat, but Montero’s momentum flipped him clear out of the ring.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/CheatinMikeBarstow.jpg

Cheatin’ Mike Barstow chose that very moment to emerge from the backstage area. The crowd roared, trying to capture Montero’s attention. Apparently they did because Montero resituated his gaze and, on seeing Barstow, took off after Cheatin’ Mike. Mike hightailed out of the arena, Montero in tow. Unfortunately I had no choice but to begin a ten count, and ultimately had to award the match to Johnny Lawless.

Lawless d. Montero via Count-Out

Match Rating: B

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JohnnyLawless.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChiefTwoEagles1977_alt.jpg

Smirking, apparently pleased with his victory, Johnny Lawless grabbed the microphone and took it to the center of the ring. “Chalk another one up for the man in black. Hey, I thought the bad guys were supposed to lose. Isn’t that how it happens in the movies? Well John Wayne and Roy Rogers ain’t here. In TWL, the bad guys ALWAYS win. And since the Texas Outlaws are the baddest of the bad?” he shrugged, “I guess it makes sense that we always win. But I don’t wanna gloat. I don’t wanna boast. No, I wanna belt. I’m sick of some dirty, no-good injun wearin’ MY championship gold. Seems like it’s about time the TWL championship came home. To me, Mr. Texas, Johnny Lawless.” At that, he threw down the microphone and prepared to walk away. But just then, Chief Two Eagles sprinted out from the backstage area, sliding in the ring and attacking Lawless. I, as the only non-wrestler still in the ring, immediately called for security. It took eight grown men to keep Chief Two Eagles and Johnny Lawless apart. The last words picked up in the microphone were not from Lawless, but rather from the TWL champion himself. “I’m going to teach you a lesson Lawless. A lesson you’ll never forget!” B+

“Well folks we’re out of time tonight. What did Chief Two Eagles mean when he said he’d teach Johnny Lawless a lesson? Guess we’ll have to tune in next week to find out. Until then, take care and God bless Texas!”

Beeker - thanks again for the insight into the Sam Keith/Gauge character. I agree, 'Silent' didn't fit as a moniker, but I wanted to at least have some characterization before I encouraged votes.

Wright does have a partner. Unfortunately, 'Handsome' Tommy Handell was working elsewhere. They have great chemistry and I hope they develop into a Midnight Express-esque team.

Also, I agree that the name 'Trailer Park Kid' screams comedy jobber. But he's reliable in the ring and relatively young. The more I use him, the more I like him. He's not going to win the top belt anytime soon, but I think he's quite useful.

4/4 Oregano and spot on with much of your analysis. In 1979, Lee Wright is not a grizzled old jobber. He's a green jobber. If his C- against the Trailer Park Kid is any indication, he'll eventually evolve into a useful member of my roster.

TWL Six-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

They'll hang onto the titles... same result as the last time this match ran.

Luis Montero w/Shannon v. Johnny Lawless

Montero has something going with Barstow, Lawless goes over.

3/4. Just missed on the Wright v. TPK match. I considered giving Wright the win, but am focusing on his tag career while TPK is at present a reliable uppermidcard gatekeeper.

Back from the dead!

Trailer Park Kid v. Lee Wright w/Shane Sneer

The Kid is still a big Texas name

Team Texas (Archie 'The Governor' Judge/Dave 'Double-Wide' Wylde) w/Debbie Dallas v. Warsaw Pact (Comrade Popinowski/Panzer) w/Sheik Mustafa

Gotta cheer for my Euro-brothers

TWL Six-Man Title Match: Pain Hunters (Pain/Croup/Vandemar) © v. West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

JJ isnt losing this

Luis Montero w/Shannon v. Johnny Lawless

Seems like Luis is on his way out...

First off Bolt, I'm glad you're back! And second, I really hope Luis isn't on his way out! No, I'm trying to keep his storyline with Barstow moving forward and jobbing someone with his obvious talents will hopefully keep him from leaving for greener pastures for at least a while.

Oh, and 3/4.

Howdy partners. Wow, I have been spending far too much time with Stampy and Mycroft in booking meetings lately - I'm channeling my inner cowboy. Anyways, Texas Wrestling fans, we have quite a program coming to you this week. The following matches have been announced:

Giant Grimsley v. Professor Nero

The physical giant versus the intellectual giant. This match may once and for all answer the question "Does size matter?"

The Party Animals v. TimberWolf/Drake 'The Snake' Oberlin

The Party Animals have been on a roll since arriving in TWL. How will they fare against another pair of animals - Drake the Snake and Timberwolf?

Chief Two Eagles/'Old School' Edmond Jackson/The Masked Patriot v. The West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

This promises to be a bitter struggle for supremacy in TWL. Chief Two Eagles and his cohorts will face a stiff test when they square off against the West Coast Warriors. Will Jason Jackson get back on track or will the self-proclaimed Sacramento Sensation falter once more?

Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper) v. Texas Outlaws (Mean Mark Green/Floyd 'F-Bomb' Bowman)

Two of the top teams in professional wrestling today square off. Though no belt will be on the line, this promises to be a hard-hitting, hard-fought contest.

Quick Picks:

Giant Grimsley v. Professor Nero

The Party Animals v. TimberWolf/Drake 'The Snake' Oberlin

Chief Two Eagles/'Old School' Edmond Jackson/The Masked Patriot v. The West Coast Warriors ('New School' Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

Texas Wrestling

War Memorial Auditorium (Midwest)

February (Week Three) 1979

Attendance: 1,535

Rating: 0.16 on Channel 7 Regional

The program kicked off with its now-standard opening, a camera zoomed in on a young girl kneeling beside her bed, hands folded as if in prayer. “And God bless Mother, and God bless Father. But most of all, God bless Texas!” Then the screen cut to the Lone Star Stampeder and Lawrence Grove, seated behind a desk at ringside.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/TheLoneStarStampeder.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MarvinEarnest.jpg

“Good evening and welcome Texas wrestling fans! I’m Lawrence Grove and I’m joined, as always, by the Lone Star Stampeder. Stampy, what do we have in store for our fans tonight?”

“Well Lawrence, we’ve got one heck of a night for you fans. We have Chief Two Eagles teaming with Edmond Jackson and the Masked Patriot to take on the West Coast Warriors. And in our main event, the Crimson Serpent Cult does battle with the Texas Outlaws! But first, we’re headed to the ring where the largest man in professional wrestling, Giant Grimsley, takes on the most devious man in the sport, Professor Nero.”

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/GiantGrimsley.jpg VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ProfessorNero1977.jpg

Giant Grimsley v. Professor Nero

Billy’s Take: The crowd unmercifully booed Nero when the bald-pated psychopath emerged from the back – his trusty cane and mindless sycophants, the Demons of Rage, at his side. When Grimsley strode to the ring, the crowd roared. The good-natured giant slapped hands with fans as he made his way to the ring and even ‘palmed’ a fan’s head for a 35 mm shot from another member of the crowd. After I sent Demon Anger and Demon Spite to the back, the match got underway. It was a surprisingly good bout, as Nero and Grimsley seemed to have an almost telepathic understanding of one another in there. Grimsley looked poised to take the win, using his sheer size and strength to overwhelm even Nero’s most brilliant tactics and feints. But in the end the nefarious Professor was simply too much as he caused a distraction and, in the confusion, bashed Grimsley’s head with his trusty silver-handled cane. The Giant crumpled and Nero made the pin for the three count.

Nero d. Grimsley via pinfall

Match Rating: C

“Nero stole another one there, didn’t he Stampy?”

“Durn right Lawrence and it’s a real shame to see. He’s got a boatload of talent, but would rather cheat to guarantee victory instead of fight clean and possibly lose. Speaking of cheaters, Luis Montero has been having a real time of it as Cheatin’ Mike Barstow’s hounded his every move. We’re headed to a pre-taped segment featuring Montero with our own Lawrence Grove.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MarvinEarnest.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/LuisMontero1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ShannonKelly.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/CheatinMikeBarstow.jpg

“Wrestling fans, I’m joined by a man who truly needs no introduction,” Lawrence Grove began. “He is one of wrestling’s brightest young stars and already a bona fide legend in Mexico. Here is Luis Montero and his lovely valet Shannon. Thank you for joining me today.” “Thank you for having us,” Luis responded, with a noticeable accent, Shannon batted her eyes. “Now in the last several weeks, Cheatin’ Mike Barstow has repeatedly interfered in your matches, costing you several wins.” “That’s right Lawrence,” Luis replied, “and I am sick and tired of him sticking his nose in my business. Cheatin’ Mike Barstow,” Luis turned to the camera, “I’m gunning for you. And when I get my hands on you, I’m going to make you pay!” There was a sudden commotion before the camera spun to see Cheatin’ Mike Barstow. Barstow grabbed the microphone from Lawrence and turned toward Montero, his face full of rage. “Don’t you dare tell me what to do you little taco eater. See this?” he raised his casted arm. “This is because of you and your Latin machismo. You had to try and break my arm because you couldn’t beat me fair and square.” Montero seemed deflated. “I didn’t mean to…I mean, you moved right into my knee…and…” Barstow cut him off with a two-handed shove, launching Montero into the silently watching Shannon. Shannon fell to the ground and Montero dropped to his knees to check on her. “Looks like you hurt your girl too Cheatin’ Luis Montero. You really should be more careful!” Barstow sauntered off while Grove and Montero checked on the fallen Shannon. C

“What a despicable act from a despicable human being. Folks I apologize for that act of violence. It was completely unwarranted.”

“Durn right Lawrence. Hopefully in this next match the action will be right where it belongs – in the center of the ring!”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChaseAllen.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/DirkBonell.jpg

VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/TimberWolf.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/DrakeOberlin.jpg

Party Animals (Chase Allen/Dirk ‘Bone-Dogg’ Bonell) v. TimberWolf/Drake ‘The Snake’ Oberlin

Billy’s Take: TimberWolf and Drake ‘The Snake’ Oberlin were already in the ring when cameras cut back to the action. The Party Animals emerged to chants of “Toga…Toga…Toga…” from the crowd. Chase and Bone-Dogg brought their pledge paddles to the ring and threatened to use them on their canine and serpentine opponents. One guy in the crowd loudly yelled “Thank you sir, may I have another?” which sent several members of the crowd into hysterics. The match itself was rather one-sided with the Party Animals controlling throughout. They finished off TimberWolf with a Party Crasher to pick up the win.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/SamKeith_alt1.jpg

As the Party Animals left, the silent assassin from the last show again emerged once again, locking Drake Oberlin into an impossibly-contorted head and arm lock, taking him down and leg-scissoring him at the same time. Apparently satisfied with his carnage, the newcomer left the way he’d come, long brown duster and tattered blue jeans following him back into the crowd.

Party Animals d. T-Wolf/Oberlin via Party Crasher

Match Rating: E+

“For Party Animals, those two sure do get down to business in the ring!”

“Right you are Stampy. But again that mystery man came out and this time he attacked Drake Oberlin. Who’s side is he on? Or is he on his own side? Guess we’ll have to watch and see. Up next we have a real treat for you. The West Coast Warriors, as confident as ever, take on Chief Two Eagles, The Masked Patriot, and Edmond Jackson. Let’s go to the ring.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChiefTwoEagles1977_alt.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/EdmondJackson.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/TheMaskedPatriot.jpg VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JasonJackson_MJSTARK.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Eruption.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Tsunami.jpg

Chief Two Eagles/‘Old School’ Edmond Jackson/The Masked Patriot v. The West Coast Warriors (‘New School’ Jason Jackson/Eruption/Tsunami)

Billy’s Take: The West Coast Warriors looked unbeatable in the early going of this match as the tag team champions Double Disaster tagged smoothly in and out, wearing down the Masked Patriot in their corner. But Jason Jackson greedily tagged himself in and faced a quick three-on-one attack. He scurried back outside, but his team’s momentum was already gone. The match settled into a back and forth with neither side really gaining a tremendous advantage. But in the end, it was Jason Jackson costing his team as he went for a clothesline on his father. But Edmond ducked the move and Jackson crashed into Tsunami, sending them both to the outside. Chief Two Eagles hit a Tomahawk Chop on Eruption, which staggered the huge Samoan, allowing the Masked Patriot to lift him into position for a Patriot Slam to give his team the win.

Two Eagles/Edmond Jackson/Masked Patriot d. West Coast Warriors via Patriot Slam

Match Rating: C

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/JasonJackson_MJSTARK.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Eruption.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Tsunami.jpg

Immediately after the match, ‘New School’ Jason Jackson grabbed the house microphone. “You are utterly worthless,” he spat at Eruption. “Last week you deserted me when I had Pain this close,” he motioned with his thumb and forefinger, “to submitting. And now, Eruption, you lose to the Masked Patriot? That is unacceptable. I – the Los Angeles Loverboy, the Compton Cassanova, the San Jose Silver Shark – did not come to Texas to be second best. I came to be the best and I recruited you two morons because I needed some muscle. But now you can’t beat anyone!” He kicked the ring post on the way out and apparently hurt his toe because that caused him to throw an even bigger tantrum. Double Disaster picked up their TWL Tag Team belts and followed Jackson to the back. If anything, this made him more irate as he was the only of the three of them not wearing gold. C-

Stampy was laughing too hard to introduce the next match, so Lawrence Grove took over. “Wow, that was less successful than Jason Jackson had hoped. Seems he lost the match, again, and lost feeling his toe on top of it. Perhaps the Texas Outlaws will fare better in the next match as our main event features two former TWL tag team champions. Mean Mark Green and Floyd Bowman take on the Crimson Serpent Cult – Cobra and Viper.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Cobra1977.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/Viper.jpg

VS http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/MeanMarkGreen.jpghttp://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/FloydBowmn.jpg

Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper) v. Texas Outlaws (Mean Mark Green/Floyd ‘F-Bomb’ Bowman)

Billy’s Take: The Crimson Serpent Cult came out first, Cobra slithering to the ring and Viper carrying their writhing burlap sack. The Outlaws emerged next, drawing boos from the crowd. As usual, Green coolly ignored the fan’s ire while Bowman thrived on it, flipping them off and screaming obscenities that the camera’s microphone (mostly) failed to pick up. The match itself was quite good, as you would expect from two teams with this much experience. The Crimson Serpent Cult looked to have the match wrapped up when Bowman missed a Salute ‘n Boot and tied himself up in the ropes. But rather than take advantage, Cobra hesitated, torn between doing what his instincts told him to do (which probably involved kicking the bejesus out of the trapped Bowman) and what his babyface conscience advised him to do (help Bowman out of his predicament). This hesitation was all Green needed as he blindsided Cobra, sending the cultist to the outside of the ring. Green then released Bowman from the ropes and the duo connected with a Nowhere to Run on Viper to pick up the win.

Obviously frustrated with themselves, the Cult turned tail and left the arena, leaving their burlap sack in the ring in the process.

Texas Outlaws d. Crimson Serpent Cult via Nowhere to Run

Match Rating: C+

“Seems the Crimson Serpent Cult is coming unraveled. Cobra seemed conflicted there. What do you think Stampy?”

“I think they’re still the most dangerous team here in TWL, but it will be interesting to see how they rebound from this devastating loss! Folks we have time for one last segment. Let’s head down to the ring where Chief Two Eagles is standing by.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii147/ajcrible/Texas%20Wrestling/ChiefTwoEagles1977_alt.jpg

Chief Two Eagles stood regally in the ring, bedecked in his trademark eagle feather headdress and loose-fitting leather Indian outfit. He slowly brought the microphone to his lips. “Johnny Lawless,” he boomed into the microphone, his deep voice echoing around the arena. “The Great Spirit has told me it is time to end your reign of terror. You’ve interfered in my matches, attacked my friends, and belittled my people. For that you must pay. The spirit of the wolf, the spirit of the falcon, and the spirit of the great eagle course through my veins. At Wild Side, I challenge you, Johnny Lawless, to a match dear to my people. I challenge you to an Indian Strap Match! Accept if you dare, evil one.” C

“Strong words from the TWL Champion! I can’t wait to see how Johnny Lawless responds. But for that, we’ll have to wait until next week. So wrestling fans, goodnight and God bless Texas!”

4/4. And perfect reasoning on the first and fourth matches. Grimsley is a great special attraction - I need to hold another battle royal for him to win soon. I'm also getting tired of Cobra and Viper's three-month contracts. They're successful in the ring and don't complain outside the ring. But I feel like I have to constantly cater to them to keep them happy.

3/4. I like your reasoning on giving Grimsley the win. Losing doesn't really affect his character or popularity. But Grimsley's floating right now so he wasn't taking down a legitimate title contender.

Well Texas Wrestling fans, our biggest event of February - appropriately titled 'Wild Side' - is less than a week away. All that is standing between us and this supercard is a single week of Texas Wrestling. And here is the advertised card:

The Masked Patriot v. Johnny Lawless

The Masked Patriot is good friends with Chief Two Eagles, who Lawless is slated to battle at Wide Side. Can Lawless send a message or will the Patriot come out on top?

Tag Team Number One Contenders Match: The Party Animals (Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell/Chase Allen) v. Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper)

The Crimson Serpent Cult recently lost the tag team titles to Double Disaster, but look poised to recapture the gold. How will they fare against TWL's resident Animal House?

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/Trailer Park Kid w/Debbie Dallas v. Mean Mark Green/'New School' Jason Jackson

These four men are part of an 8-man spectacular to take place at Wild Side. Which team will have the momentum going into this supershow?

Non-Title Match: Chief Two Eagles v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow

The most anticipated match on Texas Wrestling in recent memory. Barstow has begged off wrestling as of late due to a casted arm. But he's miraculously recovered enough to take on TWL champion Chief Two Eagles in a non-title match. Will Chief be able to overcome Barstow and his incessant underhanded tactics?

Quick Picks:

The Masked Patriot v. Johnny Lawless

Tag Team Number One Contenders Match: The Party Animals (Dirk 'Bone-Dogg' Bonell/Chase Allen) v. Crimson Serpent Cult (Cobra/Viper)

'Old School' Edmond Jackson/Trailer Park Kid w/Debbie Dallas v. Mean Mark Green/'New School' Jason Jackson

Non-Title Match: Chief Two Eagles v. Cheatin' Mike Barstow
