PPV Predictions Wrap-Up

1234 – 4/6

jhd1 3/6

Dragonmack 3/6

Candyman 4/6

Tigerkinney 4/6

Hashasheen 4/6

Ajcrible 4/6

Thekenwyne 5/6

Kingjoel 3/6

Maskedpropaganda 4/6

20Legend 3/6

Jaded 3/6

That means that TheKenwyne wins this round of the DVD pool by correctly predicting five of six matches. The Women’s Title match was a wash as no one called the cheap finish, so all in all everyone did really well.

I think I’m going to do the same thing for the next PPV, too. I’ll be PM-ing Thekenwyne with a list of my DVD’s in a little bit.

Thanks for getting involved everybody. I think twelve predictors sets a record for me in this or any diary.

Phew, finally got caught up after a few days of one-more-show, I'll-write-mine-after-one-more-show.

I forgot how addictive your diaries can be, NN. Awesome PPV. USPW seems to have a knack of turning out great PPVs in spite of their weakish roster - I seem to remember J Silver turning out top-notch offerings as well. Might have something to do with running longer matches (old age jokes aside). Does USPro only run a one hour TV show? It seems kid of short - even with T-Rex doing three minute squashes.

Was Baine ever in DaVE? Seems like he'd be a natural fit, but I don't recally him there. As for bringing Peak in... wow. Did TCW crash?

Good to be up to speed - shame I missed the contest, but I aim to be there for the next one.

Hiring Batch One: Matt Hocking, Remmy Skye, Casey Valentine, Aaron Andrews, Roxy Kitten, Emma Bitch, Dharma Gregg, Eddie Peak, and (Hidden).

Releases: Corporal Doom, Danny Rushmore, Mick Muscles, Sheik Mustafa, Captain USA, and Anger.

“OK, talk to me about the hiring and firing; all that stuff.”

“Now, I’m sure that fans know the guys we’ve signed of late, like Eddie Peak and (Hidden). But from this point forward, I’m not going to be looking to bring in talents that are instantly identifiable as TCW guys or SWF guys. I want to start developing our own stars.”

“How many of the folks leaving have elapsed contracts and how many are just subtraction for subtraction’s sake?”

“Anger’s contract was up, and so was Danny Rushmore’s. Mick Muscles is useless to me without Rushmore, so he’s gone. Doom and Mustafa are doing nothing, and won’t be doing anything in the future; that makes whacking them and their low expectation having selves an easy decision. And Captain USA sucks and makes me want to vomit.”

“That’s nice of you.”

“You asked.”

“What can you tell me about the signings? What’s the plan? It looks like a good group.”

“Well, other than the two biggies, Peak and (Hidden), I think the most important signing I could’ve made is Aaron Andrews. He’s a guy that didn’t get resigned by TCW, where he stayed in the midcard, and somehow didn’t get an offer from SWF. I left him alone for over a week before I decided to give him a click; I really didn’t think I’d have a chance. But here he comes.”

“You sound excited about him.”

“I am. The skills are all there, he just needs the people to care about him. And that’s where I come in.”

“I know you’re excited about Eddie Peak.”

“Yeah……I am. But let’s talk about the tag teams that we’ll be adding. At least two more, maybe three once everything shakes out.”

“You’re being weird about the Peak signing. That’s a real coup for the USPW. I would have imagined that you’d be complimenting yourself a lot more.”

“You’ve got me all wrong.”

“……”

“I’m a good guy at heart. The guy that I present a lot of the time is just my character.”

A beat.

“You cheated, didn’t you?”

“What? I wouldn’t……”

“The editor.”

“……”

“You used the editor, right?”

“Well……there was a mistake.”

“A mistake that you needed to correct…..when?”

“When you went downstairs to get the door for the pizza guy.”

“What did you do?”

“The game, this awesome simulation that thinks it knows everything about my world; it didn’t have a single record of my relationship with Eddie.”

“Your relationship with him?”

“Eddie and I were and continue to be close friends.”

“Close friends?”

“Very close. Tight.”

“…….”

“You could even say that he’s loyal to me.”

“So you set him to be loyal to you?”

“His contract came up and I knew that, in real life, I could convince him to come, even if it was just for a little while.”

“That’s cheating, Phil.”

“No, that’s ‘correcting a mistake’, idiot.”

“So what about (Hidden)? Did you use the editor to get him, too?”

“No, him I got fair and square, although why he didn’t get re-upped by TCW or picked up by SWF is just a big a mystery as Aaron Andrews.”

“You had nothing to do with it?”

“Nothing more than a little luck, I guess. Maybe the wrestling gods are smiling down on me a little bit more than they did when we started this game.”

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson

Andrews can go far in USPW, although I see him and Devine competing for a spot.

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee

I mark for J-Ro

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz

while not a great pairing, they are better than the job squad.

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun

T-Rex needs to be booked as dominating

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson

Double A debuts with a win

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee

Just better than the other two

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz

Squash win for Vibert's flunkies

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun

Datsun's a tougher test than the usual jobbers T-Rex faces but the streak needs to keep going up.

Why have I not predicted on this dynasty yet? Because I make dumb decisions, gentlemen. Therefore, for my fellow USPW dynasty, I'll predict. It's the right thing to do, ain't it?

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson

Jumbo Jackson over an amazing pickup would just crush the entire momentum of where Vibert is going, I think. If Jumbo wins, he'll get my utmost respect.

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee

If I only posted my show earlier...ah, if you'll read my PPV later on you'll see.

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz

Hmm, Job Squad vs. Vibert's boy and Davids. Wonder who wins.

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun

Haven't picked anyone on the right side of the "vs."

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson

intro win for Double A

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee

I picked Joanne at first because she is the obvious choice. Then I came back and switched to Emma Bitch cause she just has a Vilbert flare to her and just cause J-Ro is the most talented, don't mean diddy in the USPW.

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz

obviously

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun

think Freddie is a waste of space and T-Rex needs to be menaced and dominationed galore to get the big man where he should be, which is right at the top! T-Rex vs Tyson Baine or better yet the two monsters team up in a giant bloodthirsty two man power trip!!

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson Andrews can be your DDD - or he could start losing his way up the card

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee Go for the one with talent and overness

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz I like that you gave the victims' names

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun Big win for Rex if he can keep the streak alive

Thanks for spending the time to catch up, JC. I'm doing that with your diary as well as probably three or four others. There is some great stuff out there, as always.

As far as your questions, yes the show is only an hour, which is a liberty I took at the game's outset. I'm going to try to extend it back to ninety minutes as the contract comes to an end in the next month or two, especially since now I have the storylines and an infusion of talent to make it a full ninety minutes and not just an hour long show stretched onto an hour and a half.

I was shocked by the grade of the PPV. The "B" from the Champion and Valentine match blew me away. They had "good" chemistry and their overness is popping, but Valentine is such a bad worker, I figured he would sink it.

I'm not sure about Baine being in DaVE, but you're right, he'd have been perfect. It's probably clear that I've got my favorites and he's right up there and it's got everything to do with that new render. I loooooove it.

The contest is something I want to do differently. I want to do a cumulative score/correct percentage for the four shows leading up to each PPV and then a separate best overall number of correct picks for the PPV itself.

Instead of doing a free shot at my list, which is taking a long time to go over, I was thinking I could put together packs directed at the winners, say two or three shows each, where if you said, "I see them in TNA and WWE, but really haven't seen much of ROH when Punk and Joe were there", I could pick a few shows from that era for you. I think that might be easier, and you can be as specific with your request as you'd like.

Loving the cheating accusations. Excellent stuff, this is a must-read for me whenever I see it bumped.

Glad to have you on board, Rathen4. And I'm excited about the response that everyone's had to Vibert's "cheating" to get Peak. It just really occurred to me that it is totally something he would do as he figured out how to navigate the game for himself. Whether I'd do it (I did) as a writer is immaterial here, isn't it? I blame Phil.

Who knows, he may do it again in the future. ;)

Why have I not predicted on this dynasty yet? Because I make dumb decisions, gentlemen. Therefore, for my fellow USPW dynasty, I'll predict. It's the right thing to do, ain't it?

It is the right thing to do, you're right. I'm going to get back out there and do the same; try and pay it forward a little bit.

Thanks LLK, you're the Haley Joel Osmet to my Helen Hunt. :)

Phil Vibert: Success is measured in whatever way he needs to spin it

:)

If you haven't already been contacted by Vibert's people, that's the working title for his upcoming autobigraphy (Phil Vibert: "Success is measured in whatever way he needs to spin it."- The Phil Vibert Story/SOTR Press/$19.95; drop date: 12/1/10) so just you writing it on a messageboard infringes on his pending copyright. You just cost yourself eleven cents, are you aware of that?

:D

So, the first show of the month will be up tomorrow-ish.

Phil's cheating was genius :D I can't remember whether I commented on the PPV but if I didn't - it was a fantastic show (how on Earth Valentine-Champion got a B I'll never know!), even if the Tennessee Alliance lost. ;)

Rathen summed it up perfectly - must read stuff here, my friend.

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson

Sympathy for the new boy...

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee

I think J-Ro's the star, although I think Emma and Alexis could be more interesting characters in the long run...

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz

Ouch...

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun

Again...ouch...

Aaron Andrews vs. Jumbo Jackson

Andrews can be a big deal in TCW, so he's clearly a cut above the competition in USPW.

Joanne Rodriguez vs. Emma Bitch vs. Alexis Lee

This isn't who will win, this is who I want to win.

Charlie Thatcher/Des Davids vs. Ben Williams/Jeremy Jazz

I don't feel that any of these people need to be here.

T-Rex vs. Freddie Datsun

Datsun is probably doomed to a life of gatekeeping. It's a shame... he's actually pretty damn talented.
