Memoirs of a Booker: GAIA

Recommended Posts

The lemons of ultimate devastation would be squeezed into juice at the hands of Earth House.

-Quoted for its simple and beautiful truth.

The loyalty of the Joshi workers is of respectable and frustration. A few teams have made it. Yay. A few teams have not. Boo. A few teams live between space and limbo still. Ohm. Stay tuned. :)

HEART Saitoh Signs With GAIA.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Logos/GAIAlogo.jpg

HEART Saitoh has reunited with her long time trainer, the legendary Sensational Ogiwara, under the GAIA banner. In a roster that has been described as 'lacking', the signing of HEART Saitoh is a good sign for the company. Especially with their first show looming quickly on the horizon.

GAIA continued to reveal their roster on top of today's news. HEART Saitoh and the rest of "Water Reign" can be viewed at GAIA.co.jp:Roster:

Really enjoying the pentaelemental theme of the roster. Can only hope the air is filled with the wings of a butterfly.

Good roster so far. HEART for the title!

I am happy you are with the theme. It will play a big part in things. HEART will play a big part too. It is an 'interesting' roster so far. But my crown jewel is missing at the time that is now. There should be a way to break/test company loyalty inside the game, something like 'send chocolate cake' or something. :)

With Yuu's luck the recipient would be allergic. :p

The 5SSW End Of Days Tour rolled into the Kyoto Arena and was performed in front of 1,772 fans. The biggest surprise of the night came when the title changed hands in mid-tour. Some are saying that 5SSW wanted to get the title on a younger star before GAIA launches in February.

I can not believe it. I'm moving to New York.

Thursday, Week 4, Januray 2011

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Locations/Sapporo1.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/YuuOnuki.jpg

Yuu Onuki:

"Yes..."

*GAIA's owner listened carefully to the voice on the other end of the phone. She could feel the light being devoured inside of her as the words continued grow.*

Yuu Onuki:

"She must do that which is the best, no? Our business is of no concern. It is a piece of show, nothing more. She is so young with life."

*Sensational Ogiwara leaned against the wall. Deep lines and shadows played with her face in a serious way.*

Yuu Onuki:

"Anything we can do. It is of course and there is no question. Tell her to put us out of her mind most completely. But she will be in ours. I will let them all know. Please remember. Anything it is hers. Yes? Yes. Goodnight."

*Yuu Onuki closed her cell phone and looked over to Ogiwara. She didn't really need to say anything. But she did just the same.*

Yuu Onuki:

"It is very bad, Ogiwara-san."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/SensationalOgiwara.jpg

Sensational Ogiwara:

"Her knee?"

*Yuu nodded gravely and slowly in speed.*

Yuu Onuki:

"It is shattered."

*Between the two women you could hear the snow fall around the devastating fact.*

Sensational Ogiwara:

"Kuso."

*Yuu was not given to swearing, but the simple phrase spoken softly seemed quite appropriate. Megumi Nakajima was their keystone. Megumi Nakajima may never wrestle for GAIA or even again.*

Yuu Onuki:

"I will call Rodriguez-san and the rest of Fire Domain. They will have to carry. They are our only best."

*They had done well with the obstacles they had faced. But getting Megumi Nakajima to sign had been the biggest push in the endless ordeal. Both Yuu and Sensational had exchanged glances that they actually had a shot at taking on the Lizard Queen. But now? Now they exchanged other glances and words.*

Sensational Ogiwara:

"What about Higa-san?"

*Yuu only shook her head.*

Yuu Onuki:

"She will stay loyal to 5SSW. I would like to know who taught her loyalty. It is an impressive trick."

Yuu tried to make a joke, but it was forced and thick.

Yuu Onuki:

"I have no more tricks for this roster. I have called everyone, Ogiwara-san."

*Too much truth in one night. It was Ogiwara-san who had to change the gears before the plunged off the road they had just turned on to.*

Sensational Ogiwara:

"Well then, let's put this GAIA engine to the real test Onuki-san. We wanted to make something different. That's the easy part. Let's see if this concept actually works instead of just looking pretty."

*Ogiwara turned, digging her phone out of her new winter jacket. She began to call the staff and roster, one by one. Yuu Onuki too the English speaking members of the roster and began to do the same. They had three days before their first show. They had three days to change everything.*

Megumi Nakajima Shatters Knee!

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Logos/5SSWlogo.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Logos/GAIAlogo.jpg

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/MegumiNakajima.jpg

Horrible news coming out of 5SSW's End Of Days Tour as Megumi Nakajima was taken from the venue by ambulance. Fans in attendance say Nakajima's knee buckled and gave way after a bad landing outside of the ring. The entire show was brought to a halt, which speaks to the seriousness of the injury. More information will be made available as it comes in.

OUCH! I went through a similiar streak with Jack Griffith and Buddy Garner getting similiar year long plus injuries. But good news was that surgery reduced Garner's from 13 months to 3 months, so you may want to explore that option. There is a chance it can get worse, as in Griffith's case, but if you don't have them for over a year anyway, might as well take the chance.

It was a big luck of the bad. But it makes the game interesting to me and my goal that much more challenging. :) More news to come on Megumi Nakajima.

I have started writing the first show of GAIA (finally, I know). I hope it will be up in three days or maybe less. This one is a long one I think. I have much information to get out and that is never my strong point. I ramble far away and do not come back.

Thanks for waiting.

Soon.

Tuesday, Week 1, February 2011:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Locations/Sapporo1.jpg

Hokkaido, Japan:

"The language of the body

is the key that can unlock the soul."

~Konstantin Stanislavsky

*A very festive atmosphere fills the crowd and people. Yuu Onuki gets to see their faces as she takes their tickets; some habits die hard. She should be meeting small town officials or other important people. But Sensational Ogiwara was far more famous and capable, plus she seemed to enjoy that aspect of it all. Yuu liked the faces of the Hokkaido people. She liked their voices and bundled fashions. She liked their anticipation that came in with them from the winter cold. Would they meet the expectations? Would the GAIA engine they had designed catch spark and life or would it sputter, choke and fall like too many before. Another ticket taken and torn, the stub returned with practiced hands.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/YuuOnuki.jpg

Yuu Onuki:

"Buy the ticket. Take the ride. GAIA is leaving with you."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

*The crowd is settled in the hall as the light go down. Towards the back a high school Taiko Club plays the thundering message that the show has already begun. The percussion and rhythm were waves on which to sail to GAIA. Soft and understated lights glowed the five colors of the elements in a slow and repeating procession. After six minutes a long shadow cut across some of the low lying lights, drawing the eyes she adored. A soft roll of applause at the elaborate costume and careful steps of The Oracle as she made her way to the ring. The drums thundered low and slowing until the finally faded away to silence. The Oracle stood with a microphone, eyes to the space in between them all.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/TheOracle.jpg

The Oracle:

"Silence. It is a place of the starting, yes?

A place where the nothing, the anything and the something can do their happening and will.

They move in and out and through the between.

They weave that which will be a spell called life."

*The Oracle raised her hand above her hand, like a claw in time. Her voice lowered yet clear in the warming hall.*

The Oracle:

"The spark. That is what life is, no?

It is nothing more.

Yet it starts the generation.

It starts the overcome."

*The Oracle lowers her hand and turns slowly in the rign. Pausing in five directions. A single taiko drum accents each stop.*

The Oracle:

"Wood feeds the Fire burn to create the Earth.

She bears of Metal which carries Water to nourish wood yet and again and again and again."

*The taiko drum begins to growl low and rumble once more.*

The Oracle:

"Until the Wood parts the Earth.

The Earth swallows Water whole.

Water quenches Fire which metls Metal down to form.

Then Metal chops the Wood."

*The Oracle points out to the crowd with a long and slender arm.*

The Oracle:

"This is a cycle endless.

This IS GAIA.

This is our world.

It has already started and now."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

*The lights go black and back to quiet until the black is mixed with red lights glowing and traditional sounds are replaced with the sounds of electronic guitars being run over by bullet trains. Space and Fire is how it usually begins. In GAIA it is the same as Seek & Destory's theme emerges from the cacophony to instant recognition as the crowd is thrown from theatrics to well known action and violence from the single most recognizable tag team in Joshi Puroresu today and even tomorrow.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HiranumaMakoto.jpg

Hiranuma Makoto:

"Welcome to GAIA where the cycle has already begun. I'm Hiranuma."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/GenpakuHasimoto.jpg

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"And I'm Genpaku. The Oracle has spoken. The rules have been set and the spark is now lit by no other than Seek & Destroy."

Hiranuma Makoto:

"If you are going to start something big. They are the perfect choice. But Genpaku, tell the fans more about the Laws of Gaia."

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"Straight from The Oracle herself, GAIA will run on the laws of the 5 elements. It is the only way GAIA can live and survive. Fire can work with Earth. Earth can work with Metal. But Fire will always attack Metal."

Hiranuma Makoto:

"I see Huntress Makiko from the Fire Domain, but she isn't working with Earth? Ikuko Temko is from Space."

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"Space is everywhere,"

Hiranuma Makoto:

"You've got me there."

*Seek & Destroy stand in the ring, they look down upon The Oracle who now stands at ringside. She prepares to leave the main hall, but pauses at the exit and raises a hand again. The positive vibrations of happier music fills the hall, a small smile upon the lips of The Oracle as she exits the scene. The crowd responds with cheers this time as recognition sets in again.*

Hiranuma Makoto:

"Is that?"

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"If Water nourishes Wood long enough, you are bound to get Ultimate Devastator Lemons!"

*HEART Saitoh, the leader of Water Reign breaks into the light with Rei Chikanatsu of Wood Land. The Laws of GAIA seem to be working just fine as the very first match of GAIA is...*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HuntressMakiko.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/IkukoTemko.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/Versus_logo.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HEARTSaitoh.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/ReiChikanatsu.jpg

-Seek & Destroy- vs. +Ultimate Devastator Lemons+

*Referee checks with The Luminary (Sensational Ogiwara) to make sure the match follows the Laws of GAIA. With a nod from The Luminary, the crowd knows it does and the bell rings. It is a huge honor to be included in the first match of a debuting promotion and these two teams delivered. The mix of technicality, high flying and brawling showed exactly what makes Joshi Puroresu great. The teams stayed pretty even until the final minutes. As order broke down to chaos of nature, Seek & Destroy were able to win with an out of position referee as Ikuko held Rei's feet, making escape from the Makiko Clutch impossible.*

Official Reult:

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Seek & Destroy defeated Ultimate Devastator Lemons in 18:05 when Huntress Makiko defeated Rei Chikanatsu by submission with a Makiko Clutch.

*As Puroresu tradition dictates, a camera sits backstage waiting to capture the women's thoughts after their matches. The Ultimate Devastator Lemons have many thoughts is seems and the usually silent HEART Saitoh starts.*

Backstage:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HEARTSaitoh.jpg

HEART Saitoh:

"This isn't over yet Makiko. It seems everywhere I go I have to battle you two. Seek & Destroy, your name is famous even in GAIA. But this is a different time and place. I'm the leader of Water Reign and, by the Laws of GAIA, I challenge you to a singles match next week."

*Rei has been silent for almost 30 seconds. It's a GAIA record that may never be broken as her face cuts into the frame excitedly.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/ReiChikanatsu.jpg

Rei Chikanatsu:

"And by the Laws of Ultimate Devastator Lemons, Wood beats Space when Space isn't cheating like a little Monkey Bee--- What!? We have laws... Don't we? ... ... ... Well if we did she would have totally broken like seven of them. Hypothetical revenge is best served in Space!"

*Rei storms away, ranting to herself as the scene fades away.*

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Back in the ring, Ochiyo Iijima has made her entrance and waits to see who the The Oracle has selected for her: Fire or Earth. The question is soon answered as five humongous shadows cross in front of the low lying lights.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/GenpakuHasimoto.jpg

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"Talk about a procession of bad intentions."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HiranumaMakoto.jpg

Hiranuma Makoto:

"The entire Earth House is making its way to the ring, and that is not a good sign for Ochiyo or GAIA in general."

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"Earth House appear unified and they are without a doubt the most physically dominant group assembled. Dragon Assassin, Gorgon, Unstoppable Tai, Emma Bitch and Chiyeko Kita? Just wow."

Hiranuma Makoto:

"Earth House has surrounded the ring. Look how tiny Ochiyo looks out there. But give her credit, she has her fight face on."

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"She's a better woman than I."

Hiranuma Makoto:

"..."

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"The Leader of Earth House, Dragon Assassin, has a microphone. Let's hear what she has to say."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/DragonAssassin.jpg

Dragon Assassin:

"This is GAIA? This is Law? No, this is they reality of your new situation. The is our house. This is Earth House!"

*Dragon Assassin looking into the ring without emotion.*

Dragon Assassin:

"And you are the first, unfortunate example."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/DragonAssassin.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/Versus_logo.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/OchiyoIijima.jpg

Dragon Assassin vs. Ochiyo IIjima

In the ring:

*The referee checks with The Luminary to make sure yet again the Laws of GAIA are followed: Earth absorbs Water in the cycle of conflict and the bell is rung. Ugly match in a very strong sense as Dragon Assassin backed up her simple message with stunning ferocity. Stiff MMA kicks accented by strong throws. Ochiyo was obviously distracted by the other four members of Earth House. She didn't even seem to see the Lariat coming.*

Official Result:

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Dragon Assassin defeated Ochiyo Iijima in 9:04 by pinfall with a Lariat.

  • Dragon Assassin and Ochiyo Iijima have pretty good chemistry, and it lifted the match.

*After the match it looked like Earth House was going to enter the ring, which would have been all the colors of bad for Oochiyo. But Dragon Assassin shook her head once as if to say 'not yet' and instead they turned away and left together.*

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/GenpakuHasimoto.jpg

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"I can't believe no one from Water Reign or Wood Land came down to help Ochiyo. That could have gotten really ugly."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HiranumaMakoto.jpg

Hiranuma Makoto:

"Well here comes your reason why. The leader of Wood Land and a woman who only cares about one thing and one thing only. Herself."

*Amber Allen passes a battered Ochiyo Iijima on the way to the ring and rolls her eyes as they pass each other. The announcers were absolutely right, she didn't care about Wood Land or helping Water Reign. All she cared about was keeping what she had, and that was her power. If Ochiyo got destroyed in the ring, it didn't effect her. But one thing that looked like it could be effecting her in a very direct way was Connie Morris from Metal Moiety.*

Hiranuma Makoto:

"Connie Morris, the leader of Metal Moiety making her way down to the ring. This will be the first time that two leaders have met in GAIA."

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"It's a big match that will definitely have an effect. Who ever loses this one is going to loose some authority in their House. That's something that everyone wants to avoid."

Hiranuma Makoto:

"The biggest mistake I made in my house was loosing some authority. I still haven't found it."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/AmberAllen.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/Versus_logo.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/ConnieMorris.jpg

-Amber Allen- vs. +Connie Morris+

In the ring:

*Obviously these two have worked together before as this short match looked really good. Connie's expertise and size came in to play early as she connected with some big moves early on. Amber was dazed and holding her lower back at the 4 minute mark when she turned into a kick to the gut. Missouri Plough!*

Official Result:

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Connie Morris defeated Amber Allen in 5:47 by pinfall with a Missouri Plough.

  • Connie Morris and Amber Allen have great chemistry, and it showed in their performances.
  • Connie Morris is improving in Flying skills.

Backstage:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/AmberAllen.jpg

Amber Allen:

"It wasn't my fault. Where was Wood Land? Why didn't they come down and surround the ring? Because they only care about themselves. That's why and that's why I lost. Connie Morris is just lucky I was too worried about winning for my selfish faction to focus on the match. But I'm going to fix that. Then I'll fix my back and then I'll fix her."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Kuniko Matsura is standing in the ring after a quick entrance. But soon the basic lights flash and darken and a more erratic theme fills the collective ears. The very distinct and very dangerous form of Raku Makuda appears, much to the recognition of the crowd on hand.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/HiranumaMakoto.jpg

Hiranuma Makoto::

"I know for a fact when The Oracle was seeking fighters for GAIA, this woman was very near the top of her list."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/GenpakuHasimoto.jpg

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"You don't get into the Fire Domain without being one of the very best at what you do. Raku Makuda had a spectacular year last year and she has come to GAIA to continue down that path. Kuniko Matsura of Water Reign is going to have her work cut out for her."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/KunikoMatsura.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/Versus_logo.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/RakuMakuda.jpg

+Kuniko Matsura+ vs. -Raku Makuda-

In the ring:

*The evening begins to turn South at exactly the time it should be accelerating. Kuniko Matsura looked like she was wrestling under water instead of representing it. Raku gave a heroic effort, trying to keep the action building but Kuniko was in over her head. In a classic example, the basic Irish Whip turned into a hand holding session until Raku slapped Kuniko and drove her by the throat for the rest of the match. Neckbreaker Slam! Another slap to the face before Raku climbs the ropes. Swanton Bomb!

Official Reult:

In a match that had an average crowd reaction but featured terrible wrestling, Raku Makuda defeated Kuniko Matsura in 14:43 by pinfall with a Swanton Bomb.

  • Kuniko Matsura was rusty, but that will soon go away once she's got a few more matches under her belt.
  • Kuniko Matsura was visibly tiring toward the end.
  • Raku Makuda was visibly tiring toward the end.
  • The announcing quality lifted the match.
  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost.
  • This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Backstage:

Raku Makuda:

"Matsura. Leave GAIA. Now."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Earth House moves to the ring again and surrounds it just as before. But this time Gorgon climbs the steel steps and poses menacingly to the crowd. Gorgon flashes the Earth sign and the flips the audience off with international communication 101.*

-Gorgon- vs. +Tamara McFly+

In the ring:

*Tamara wasn't intimidate by the numbers game at all as she stood her ground, ignoring the other members of Earth House completely. Tamara worked some good strikes early on but found her technical arsenal somewhat muted by the sheer size of Gorgon. Take downs were hard to come by without getting dangerously close. At 9 minutes Tamara had worked hard on the right leg of Gorgon, a classic big person tactic. Gorgon seemed close to going down to one knee. She held the referee's shirt for 'support'. That's when Emma Bitch grabbed Tamara's ankles, trapping her against the corner. Avalanche by Gorgon into the corner. Tamara stumbles out. Hydra Bomb! The crowd groaned in empathy.*

Official Result:

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Gorgon defeated Tamara McFly in 15:20 by pinfall with a Hydra Bomb.

Tamara McFly and Gorgon have pretty good chemistry, and it lifted the match.

*The underwater sounds of Water Reign's music crashes over the arena like a long, slow wave as it's time for the Main Event. The distinctive blue hair of Yoko Ikina gets instant recognition from the Japanese fans. But she ignores them. She doesn't smile as she takes serious strides to the ring, and slips between the ropes with practiced ease.*

Crowd member:

"Yoko! Good luck!"

*Yoko looks over the ropes.*

Yoko Ikina:

"Your luck is bad luck. Shut up!"

*The crowd is not impressed, and they cheer a little more when the music of Fire Domain begins and Joanne Rodriguez comes out smiling and waving for all.*

Hiranuma Makoto:

"Welcome to your Main Event with a classic match-up between Fire and Water. But the other story is the woman making her way to the ring, Joanne Rodriguez. With the injury to Megumi Nakajima, GAIA has been placed firmly on the back of this talented women."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/GenpakuHasimoto.jpg

Genpaku Hasimoto:

"Along with that she also has the leadership of Fire Domain to deal with. But The Oracle has spoken, and she does not strike me as one to change her mind. All we can do is watch and see how Rodriguez and the fans respond."

*Rodriguez poses in the ring to applause, but it is nowhere near what Megumi Nakajima would have received. But Rodriguez claps her hands and tries to get the crowd going in the right direction.*

+Joanne Rodriguez+ vs. -Yoko Ikina-

In the ring:

*Hanging somewhere in the air was the fact that Megumi Nakajima would not be joining them any time soon, if ever. The supposed keystone of the company was gone and the burden fell to Joanne Rodriguez, a foreigner, to carry a Japanese Promotion to a strong close. From the Water Reign they sent out their most experienced worker. Water quenches Fire. The Law is followed and the bell rings for the final time tonight. A long match, that was made longer by lots of ground work. For two high fliers, it felt heavy and slow. Joanne did her best to control the pace but her more Western style didn't mesh with the more hard hitting Joshi theme of the night. Off an offensive build, Joanne got the J-Rocker for the win. It was obvious she tried hard, but it wasn't enough. You could see the disappoint in her face even as she tried to connect with the Hokkaido crowd.*

Official Result: In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Joanne Rodriguez defeated Yoko Ikina in 15:10 by pinfall with a J-Rocker.

  • Joanne Rodriguez and Yoko Ikina just don't click at all, and it showed in their performances.
  • The announcing quality lifted the match.
  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Backstage:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/JoanneRodriguez.jpg

Joanne Rodriguez:

"I tried really hard. I wanted to win for Nakajima-san. That was in my heart. Get well soon Megumi. The Fire Domain needs you. GAIA needs you."

But the show itself could be called a mixed bag at best. Several of us here at JoshiJoshiJoshi.com made the long, cold and expensive trip to see the show. Here is what we thought.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>d(-_^)good!! :</strong></p><p> We really enjoyed the whole feeling of GAIA. There was a great theater atmosphere mixed with some traditional sights and sounds. So many companies today are trying to be rockstars that we actually enjoyed the cheesy, 8-bit, in house music of GAIA along with the visiting taiko group. Yuu Onuki bringing The Oracle to life was all kinds of win for us, maybe not worth the train ticket. But definitely worth the price of admission right there.</p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"> Ultimate Devastator Lemons!</span> Enough said.</p><p> </p><p> Earth House is freaking outrageous. That could be future gold right there if it's booked right.</p><p> </p><p> We have lift off! Hey, this show started off really great with three solid matches that had me watching for more.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>(>_<) :</strong></p><p> </p><p> We aren't in Kansas anymore. Oh wait, are we? The JJJ crew is split on this one, but I'll put it in the bad for now. While we think it's great some of the Western women are getting over here to see how it should be done, GAIA may have gone a little too far with almost 50% of the matches containing imported talent. I'm personally okay with it, there are some great matches to be had. But I could sense a real disconnect with some of the fans.</p><p> </p><p> Megumi Nakajima. Not their fault, but it's still bad. So I put it here.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>(x_x) :</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="font-size:12px;">More, no more Kuniko Matsura! Feed her to Earth House!</span></p><p> </p><p> Main Event?? Call for help! I don't know who you blame for this. Yoko Ikina has been around long enough and Joanne Rodriguez is more than qualified. They both should have been able to close out this show. But they didn't. The match was slow, plodding and boring. The crowd was dead, and even a postcard-esque J-Rocker couldn't bring the great night feeling back. Dropped opportunities for everyone across the board.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>End Of Line:</strong></p><p> If this were just any show, me might give it a pass. But it wasn't. It was GAIA's debut, and under that criteria it just wasn't good. <p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Thursday, Week 1, 2011:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Locations/Sapporo1.jpg</span></p><p>

Hokkaido, Japan</p><p> </p><p>

*Moral was low in GAIA. It was something you could feel when you entered the Community Hall. It was something you could see when you looked into certain and younger faces. The people of the crowd were not the only ones whose expectations had not been met. GAIA had put her best foot forward and fallen flat on its face. Privately, Yuu Onuki and Sensational Ogiwara were as dismayed as the next. But publicly they had to put on masks and push them and the company forward. Instead of lies and phony speeches of optimism, they went with another trick in their collective book: Diversion.*</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><em><span style="font-size:24px;">"""Megumi!!!"""</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*Everyone in the hall looked up as Megumi Nakajima crutched her way into the open space with Yuu and Sensational trailing behind. There may have been a new company in Joshi, but the Joshi family? It was still small and close knit when compared to that of the men's. They all knew each other or at least knew of each other. It was a special bond and you could see it as the everyone surrounded Megumi and asked her 100 questions. Even the colder, harder veterans were brought around. Yuu could feel the air lifting and smiled.*</p><p> </p><p>

*After the excitement died down a little, an emotional Megumi cleared her throat. Some how she had managed not to break the cardinal rule of Joshi Puroresu: No crying.*</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/MegumiNakajima.jpg</span></p><p>

Megumi Nakajima:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#4B0082;">"Thanks everyone. I missed you crazy women, which scares me a little."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*Everyone laughed, and then quieted down again.*</p><p> </p><p>

Megumi Nakajima:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#4B0082;">"I had the surgery. The doctors say it looks good."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*She forced a smile on to her face. Surgery was always tricky, but she did have youth on her side. Surgery was always an uncomfortable subject with a group of wrestlers, so she changed the subject quickly.*</p><p> </p><p>

Megumi Nakajima:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#4B0082;">"Anyways, Onuki-san and Ogiwara-san found a good clinic for my rehab. So I'm just going to hang out with you for the next 3 months. I make an excellent paperweight, and I can still out wrestle 3 of you."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*The group laughed as Yuu and Sensational walked away.*</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/SensationalOgiwara.jpg</span></p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#006400;">"Good idea, but that only works once you know."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/YuuOnuki.jpg</span></p><p>

Yuu Onuki:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#A0522D;">"Yes, it is very true and clear"</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#006400;">"Our debut was a train wreck."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Yuu Onuki:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#A0522D;">"Your grip on reality is very... wonderful and horrible at the same time, no?"</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#006400;">"Yes, very."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Yuu Onuki:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#A0522D;">"Tonight, it will be of basics and foundations. We will let them wrestle and tell the physical story of body. Tuesday we will put the mask of GAIA on again. It is important, no? We must be different Ogiwara-san. I will not be a copy of 5SSW because that is what we would always be."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#006400;">"I wouldn't change a thing, Yuu."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*As the women walk down the long hall, they hear a burst of laughter from back in the main room. Sensational Ogiwara opens a case hanging over her shoulder and passes some papers to Yuu.*</p><p> </p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#006400;">"I booked the singles matches around the tag teams and ordered them."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*Yuu looked it all over with a careful, practiced eye. She actually liked working with Sensational Ogiwara when she wasn't trying to steal her job. They continued walking.*</p><p> </p><p>

Yuu Onuki:</p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;"><strong><em>"There is one thing missing, no?"</em></strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

Sensational Ogiwara:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#006400;">"Until Megumi is back in the ring at 100% or the Lizard Queen of 5SSW pisses off the wrong woman? This is all we've got. Did you hear that Principessa signed a written deal with NOTBPW?"</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

*Yuu only nodded, it had been another blow to the roster. She had three open spaces and not a soul on the horizon to fill it.*</p><p> </p><p>

Yuu Onuki:</p><p>

<strong><em><span style="color:#A0522D;">"Missing pages do not matter. Let us tell the story."</span></em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Friday, Week 1, February 2011:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Logos/JoshiJoshi.jpg

Report by: Joshi Wizard Ace

Show Name: GAIA Earth Tour (Thursday)

Held: Thursday, Week 1, February 2011

Location: Asahikawa Community Hall (Hokkaido)

Attendance: 753

Show Rating: D

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20Logos/GAIAlogo.jpg

GAIA held their Thursday show in Hokkaido. This show had a heavy focus on tag team wrestling and some of the younger talent on their roster. While still following the 'Laws of GAIA' established on the more operatic and dramatic Tuesday show, this had a stripped down, traditional Joshi Puroresu feel to it with the story being told completely in the ring.

Earth absorbs Water: Chiyeko Kita (Earth House)vs. Kuniko Matsura (Water Reign)

Kuniko Matsura finds herself thrown into the opening match after last week's dismal performance. If that wasn't bad enough, Earth House's music begins to play. Be afraid. The whole House doesn't come out but the serious look on Kita's face more than makes up for that. Straight to work goes Kita as she takes control from the opening bell and never let's go. Her offense is steady, controlled and precise. Kuniko is still mis-firing and heavy.

Official Result: In an extremely poor match, Chiyeko Kita defeated Kuniko Matsura in 12:45 by pinfall with a Strong Head Kick.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/GAIA%20People/ChiyekoKita.jpg

  • Kuniko Matsura was rusty, but that will soon go away once she's got a few more matches under her belt.
  • The announcing quality lifted the match.
  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost.
  • This match brought the crowd's mood down.
  • Chiyeko Kita is improving in Performance skills.
  • Kuniko Matsura is improving in Technical skills.

Wood parts Earth: Rei Chikanatsu & Tamara McFly (Wood Land) vs. Emma Bitch & Unstoppable Tai (Earth House)

Rei points at Tai. Tamara shrugs and Wood Land double team her before the bell even rings. Rei goes low. Tamara goes high and the referee never had control so he finds it hard to get it back. Wood Land's tactic proved to be sound and with a series of quick tags they got the Earth House member down. Emma Bitch didn't even see the ring as Rei neutralized her with a drop kick off the apron.

Official Result: In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Tamara McFly and Rei Chikanatsu defeated Unstoppable Tai and Emma Bitch in 9:02 when Tamara McFly defeated Unstoppable Tai by pinfall with a McFly Roll.

  • Emma Bitch seemed off her game tonight.
  • The announcing quality lifted the match.
  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost.
  • Tamara McFly is improving in Performance skills.

Metal chops Wood: Angel Takudome & Yukiko Matsumara (Metal Moiety) vs. Amber Allen & Ginko Kuroda (Wood Land)

This match was lightening quick compared to the first two matches. Metal Moiety worked the crowd and worked well together. Wood Land was just the opposite as it was apparent that Ginko and Amber did not trust each other, let alone enjoy working together. In the end Ginko watched her partner loose the match when she could have easily made the save.

Official Result: In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Angel Takudome and Yukiko Matsumara defeated Amber Allen and Ginko Kuroda in 8:56 when Yukiko Matsumara defeated Amber Allen by pinfall with a Matsumara Cradle.

Metal chops Wood: Kaede Sugiyama (Metal Moiety) vs. Junko Hayakawa (Wood Land)

Worst match of the night. Kaede was cute. But not cute enough to make this even watchable. This is the reason they have dark matches.

Official Result: In an extremely poor match, Junko Hayakawa defeated Kaede Sugiyama in 12:20 by pinfall with a Fold Up Powerbomb.

Earth absorbs Water: Dragon Assassin & Gorgon (Earth House) vs. HEART Saitoh & Ochiyo Iijima (Water Reign)

Great match to follow if you are this crew. If Earth House is awesome (which it is) then Gorgon and Dragon Assassin teaming together is just ridiculously off the scale. HEART and Ochiyo make an interesting pair as well and get in some decent offense against Dragon Assassin. Desperation tag by Dragon and the Earth moves as Gorgon enters the ring. 6 moves later it's over.

Official Result: In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Gorgon and Dragon Assassin defeated HEART Saitoh and Ochiyo Iijima in 9:21 when Gorgon defeated HEART Saitoh by pinfall with a Hydra Bomb.

Water quenches Fire: Sakura Sada (Water Reign) vs. Joanne Rodriguez (Fire Domain)

This match was a big improvement over Tuesday's Main Event with Joanne. A lot of high flying action, and fans seem to be slowly connecting to J-Ro. Sakura got in some decent offense which made this almost appear close. But J-Ro is just in a different league. Main Event match-up? No, but a nice recovery. Let's see what they do with her Tuesday night.

Official Result: In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Joanne Rodriguez defeated Sakura Sada in 11:52 by pinfall with a J-Rocker.

Fire melts Metal: Huntress Makiko & Raku Makuda (Fire Domain) vs. Connie Morris and Kinuye Mushashibo (Metal Moiety)

Seek & Destroy don't work Thurdays, so instead we get Seek & Freak? Works for me. This is actually a pretty decent match up with everyone holding on to some decent momentum off of Tuesday. Metal Moiety definitely have some underdog crowd love, and they rally early with some good tag tactics until Kinuye gets isolated by Fire Domain. Raku and Huntress really work the youngster over for a good 4 minutes. Huntress decides she has had enough.*

Official Result: In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Huntress Makiko and Raku Makuda defeated Connie Morris and Kinuye Mushashibo in 12:14 when Huntress Makiko defeated Kinuye Mushashibo by submission with a Makiko Clutch.
