MAW: The Struggle For Power

Recommended Posts

Rip sat at his computer looking confused, as he regularly was when using a computer. I smirked and walked in, taking my seat across from him. We didn’t have a booking committee yet, so the new meeting rooms would have to wait. Rip closed out whatever he was doing and leaned back in his chair as I got my things out.

Rip: You know what I’m going to ask.

I laughed. Of course I did. As much as Rip loved this idea of giving back to the wrestling world by giving young guys a place to hone their skills and then move on to bigger things, he loved his money just a bit more.

Aaron: Merchandise sales were down and we used a bit extra talent. We still came out in the black though.

Rip: Good.

Aaron: Only by about $500 though.

Rip shrugged his shoulders. I guess in his mind, a profit was a profit.

Aaron: Listen, I pulled some strings and called a few of the other owners for this month’s show. Seeing as most of our stars are involved in the main event, I did a few more talent trades to help fill out the show for this month. Nobody cost us an insane amount.

Rip nodded as he continued to listen.

Aaron: We’re going to have to run the show on Wednesday instead of Friday as well.

Rip: What the hell for, kid?

Aaron: Scheduling conflicts with one of the guys I brought in. He’s working SOTBPW that night and I neglected to pay any mind to it. I still think we’ll do just fine.

Rip gave me the benefit of the doubt and asked me to press on.

Aaron: That’s basically it. Nothing too exciting this month. I renegotiated with some guys and am trying to get somebody in here full-time but we’ll see. Listen, I’ve got to run. Going out to lunch again.

Rip dismissed me and turned back towards his computer as I opened the door. Rip looked back to say goodbye to me just as Clare South greeted me in the doorway; she had been waiting in the hall.

Rip: So she’s the lucky lady, kid?

I shrugged my shoulders and smiled as Rip began to laugh.

Rip: You two behave yourselves.

It was true. Clare and I had been dating for two months now. I thought I was hiring a decent manager but in reality, I hired my special someone.

Fujita, Patriot, Perez, Hernandez and Hugh de Aske vs. Cattley, Chord, Valentine, Citizen X and Vessey Draw, because I don't think you want to portray either as better than the other just yet

Snap Dragon vs. The Cannonball Kid

Going with my gut

Natural Storm vs. Technicality ©

Natural Storm are former champs, but Technicality don't lose yet

Jared Johnson vs. Cameron Jones

Jones is still in the jobber phase

Kashmir Singh and Riley McManus vs. Ricky Douglas and Syd Collier

As much as I love Collier, I love McManus more, and Singh's got star power

I sat in my office going over my notes, as I did every month, only tonight I had company. Clare sat across from my desk on the couch. For the most part she was quiet, talking every now and then. She was questioning where we’d go after the show was done and I didn’t have the heart to break the news that I probably wouldn’t feel like it after the main event we had planned. I finished up my final preparations for the show and smiled at her as I shutdown my computer and stood. She stood as well and I took her hand in mine as we made our way towards the dressing room. Rip seemed a bit hesitant about his head booker dating one of the valets, as he expressed with a mid-lunch phone call after I left his office with Clare at the beginning of the month. He seemed to be coming around to it, not really seeing it as a problem, but he wasn’t the only Chord I needed to worry about. We entered the locker room and went our separate ways, her to her girl talk with Lisa Bowen and I to a gathering across the room. The guys parted ways as I progressed forward and saw six kegs and coolers upon coolers of hard liquor.

Aaron: What is this?

Duke Hazzard scurried up with a huge grin on his face.

Duke: I figured why go to the bars to celebrate our new home? We can just celebrate it here.

His smile remained wide and bright.

Aaron: I don’t have a problem with that, but same rule as last time guys. Don’t tap those kegs until after the show.

Duke nodded but I heard Casey Valentine pipe up.

Casey: Can we have somebody back here tapping them during the main event? I have a feeling some of us are going to need a drink immediately.

A lot of the guys laughed and I nodded.

Aaron: We’ll get somebody back here as fast as we can. Are you even old enough to drink yet Valentine?

The boys laughed at my play on Casey’s baby-face. This was the way we should always spend the final hour before a show; laughing it up. Unfortunately, Jay Chord would have his say in the backstage mood on many more shows to come.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWban.jpg

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWBattle.jpg
Live from The MAW Arena

Wednesday Week 4 August 2010

Attendance: 258

Pre-Show

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Ace%20Youngblood.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Randy%20Maxx.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Huey%20Cannonball.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jefferson%20Stardust.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Lisa%20Bowen.jpg
The Aces of Mayhem vs. The Awesomeness w/ Lisa Bowen

A nice little pre-show tag match to allow the fans to settle in. All four men traded offense early with a lot of tags and chain wrestling. Things broke down from there as DC Rayne went to town on Kirk Jameson. Rayne got several nearfalls, but Gauge was always close by to make sure the pinfall didn’t occur. Finally as the match neared nine minutes, Jameson fought back and took Rayne down with an enziguri before making the hot tag. Gauge came in and cleaned house, taking Eddie Howard out of the equation with an Implant DDT. He then turned his attention to DC Rayne and got the submission victory with the Proton Lock in nine minutes.

Winners: Technicality

Rating: D (47)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jared%20Johnson.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Cameron%20Jones.jpg
Jared Johnson vs. Cameron Jones

The crowd was completely dead here as Jones makes his MAW debut. He put up a decent fight and managed to put on a decent match with Jared. Johnson was always one step ahead of Cameron and that lead to him making fairly quick work of the newcomer. Jared locked in the Carolina Crossface and got the submission victory in just over six minutes.

Winner: Jared Johnson

Rating: D- (36)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Rip%20Chord.jpg

Post match as Jared exits the ring, Rip Chord stops him in front of the announce table with a microphone in his hands.

Rip: Jared, I know what Casey said about you last week. He said you didn’t deserve a shot at the Traditional Title. I see something different. You have a lot of potential, kid. So I’m giving you your shot at the Traditional Title next month at Where It All Begins Again. It won’t be a singles match though; it’s going to be a triple threat match.

Jared nods to rip and inaudibly asks him who the third man is.

Rip: A man who is no stranger to the MAW ring. While I don’t know who the victor will be, I do know that

there will be blood. These two CZCW regulars came in and did their thing for the MAW fans. The match started out with a lot of chain wrestling, both of the technical and high flying variety. As the match wore on it turned out to be a battle to see who could out high risk their opponent as each men attempted numerous moves from the top rope. The crowd roared when The Cannonball Kid planted Dragon with a Cannonball Drop and picked up the victory in just under fifteen minutes.

Winner: The Cannonball Kid

Rating: D+ (48)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jack%20Avatar.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/American%20Patriot_alt1.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Frankie%20Perez.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Hugh%20de%20Aske.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mainstream%20Hernandez.jpg

Backstage, Team Fujita stood in front of the MAW backdrop with a look o determination on all their faces.

Aaron: Here we are. Just a month away from American Patriot defeating Jay Chord to continue his reign as Mid Atlantic Champion and myself picking up a personal victory against Mean Jean Cattley. You guys may not know who is going to come out on top tonight, but to the five of us its evident. We are. Because we have everything that you don’t; heart, desire and passion. All you care about is what’s best for your individual selves and could care less what happens to one another. Cohesion on a team is vital and tonight we will prove that your biggest detriment is our greatest advantage.

Rating: D- (36)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jack%20Avatar.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/American%20Patriot_alt1.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Frankie%20Perez.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Hugh%20de%20Aske.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mainstream%20Hernandez.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jay%20Chord.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mean%20Jean%20Cattley.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Citizen%20X.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Casey%20Valentine.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Cameron%20Vessey.jpg

Aaron Fujita, American Patriot, Frankie Perez, Hugh de Aske and Mainstream Hernandez vs. Jay Chord, Mean Jean Cattley, Citizen X, Casey Valentine and Cameron Vessey

Both teams sent their youngsters out first as Hugh de Aske squared off with Cameron Vessey to open the contest. The pirate one-upped Cameron at every turn which frustrated the young man and brought him to tagging out to Citizen X. Hugh followed suit by tagging out to Frankie Perez and the two went at it. Perez used his hard hitting style to rock the anarchist and even dropped him with a Backdrop Driver that netted him a two count before Jay Chord broke it up. Citizen X made a comeback and the two men eventually tagged out to American Patriot and Jay Chord respectively. Upon seeing Patriot standing across the ring from him, Chord promptly tagged out to Casey Valentine who went to work trying to wear down the champion. He was successful for a few minutes, but as the match neared its ten minute mark, Patriot began to catch fire. He dropped Valentine with a Saito Suplex and went for the cover but Mean Jean Cattley came in to break up the count. Frankie Perez entered the ring and began brawling with Cattley as Jay Fair tried to restore order. Amidst the chaos, Jay Chord came in and tried to get a cheap shot on Patriot, but the masked champion saw it coming and took him down with a clothesline. Cameron Vessey charged the champ looking for a clothesline of his own but found himself on the receiving end of an Inverted Piledriver to become the first elimination of the match.

Now with the five on four advantage, Team Fujita brought the pace up a bit and began using quick tags to keep a fresh man in the ring. It worked for long enough, but at the seventeen minute mark as Hugh de Aske prepared to hit Casey Valentine with the Cut-Throat Driver, a low blow out of Jay Fair’s sight allowed Valentine to roll up the pirate and eliminate him from the match. The odds were even again as Citizen X and Frankie Perez went at it again in the center of the ring. Chaos began to ensue as all eight remaining men began to brawl all over the ringside area. Mainstream Hernandez landed a sick torture rack piledriver on Casey Valentine and pinned him at twenty minutes to put the odds in his team’s favor. It didn’t last long though as Jay Chord was right there to capitalize and drive his skull into the mat with a Cradle Piledriver for another elimination. The match was down to Fujita, Patriot and Perez against Chord, Cattley and Citizen X. The crowd roared to life as Cattley and Fujita as well as Chord and Patriot finally crossed their respective paths and began battling it out. Before long, Chord and Cattley switched it up and went to work on their new foes. The four men spilled to the outside where Chord threw Patriot into the steel stairs and proceeded to drop elbow after elbow across the champion’s sternum.

Back in the ring, Citizen X mocked Frankie Perez by locking him into the P-Clutch and forcing him to submit to his own move. Before the anarchist could get up though, Aaron Fujita came raining down with his amazing reverse 450 splash, the Convective Inhibition, for the pinfall and another elimination. The match was nearly twenty five minutes in now and down to only four men. They all stood in the ring; Chord staring down Fujita and Patriot staring down Cattley. Suddenly they all broke or each other and in one quick second American Patriot had dropped Cattley on his head with a Backdrop Driver and Chord had driven Fujita to the mat with a Cradle Piledriver. They both scrambled for the covers at the same time, forcing Jay Fair to count double pinfalls and eliminate both Cattley and Fujita. It was down to just Chord and Patriot, finally one on one. Chord charged the champion and took him down with a clothesline, but the champ was right back up and asking for more.

Chord charged again, but Patriot ducked and turned right back around to a boot to the stomach. Chord saw his opportunity with Patriot doubled over and planted him with a Cradle Piledriver. The crowd’s boos reverberated loudly off the walls of the MAW Arena as Chord covered and was in disbelief when Patriot lifted his shoulder at the last possible millisecond. Chord got to his feet and dragged the champion towards the corner as the match neared thirty minutes. He hauled Patriot to the second rope and sat on the top one himself. He signaled for the Cradle Piledriver from the second rope and began to lift his foe up, but Patriot fought it off. The two ended up facing the crowd, both standing on the middle rope. Patriot landed a few punches to the kidney and hooked Jay before lifting up and driving him to the mat with a Backdrop Driver from the second rope. The exhausted champion slowly crawled over and hooked both of Chord’s legs as Jay Fair slid in and made the three count to mark victory for American Patriot in thirty three minutes.

Winners: American Patriot, Aaron Fujita, Frankie Perez, Hugh de Aske and Mainstream Hernandez

Rating: C (60)

Post match, American Patriot received his title belt and stood over the lifeless body of Jay Chord.
Sorry I haven't replied more.

Excellent show, though you might want to consider paragraphing up that main event. It gets a bit blocky, even on my massive widerscreen monitor. That said, it was an excellent match.

Also glad to see Natural Storm lose, never cared much for those two. They've also been so... generic. In my old FCW they've done nothing but job for a year and a half.

Still, good show. Makes me want to have a smaller company in America again.

I went back and re-structured the main event a bit to make it more reader friendly.

Now when it comes to Natural Storm, I had my main match set in stone and realized that basically my entire roster that could carry a good match for the semi-main and opener were in the main event. I just brought them in for the one and done deal as a way to freshen up the (struggling) tag division and fill some space. I had originally wanted to bring Sam Pratt in full time, but I think he was asking a bit too much and I couldn't justify paying him. Snap Dragon I know can be good in different situations, but he gets demanding very quickly. I've got a new guy to debut yet and I brought one of our guys on loan in on a full time contract. To be honest I booked my main matches for the last show of my first cycle and have been taking it show by show up to that point. Now I'm solidifying my plans for the next cycle and hope everyone will like where I go.

Again thanks for the comments sir!

RC2

I asked Rip to postpone our normal meeting by a day so I could rest up. As if the grueling main event wasn’t enough, Clare convinced me to go out and see a movie afterwards. It was fun no doubt, but tiring none the less. I walked into Rip’s office bright eyed on the second of the month and sat across from him like normal. It had taken me a minute to realize that the old man hadn’t so much as budged in the minute or so I had been in the room and I chuckled aloud.

Aaron: Rip.

He didn’t budge. In fact I think it sent him into a deeper sleep. He snored loudly and I laughed again.

Aaron: Old man.

Nothing.

Aaron: Richard Eisen wants to buy MAW.

Rip: Absolutely not. That bastard will run us right into the ground.

I couldn’t help it and began to laugh uncontrollably. After Rip had finally figured out where he was and what was happening he cleared his throat and sighed at me. It wasn’t long though before he cracked a smile and readjusted himself in his chair.

Aaron: Jeez old man, you go out partying last night?

Rip: I wish that were the case, kid. I just couldn’t sleep.

I nodded in his direction as he paused to take a drink from the bottle of water that sat at his desk.

Aaron: The good news is we still made a profit last month. I figured we’d come out with a little bit of a loss with the extra talent I brought in, but honestly we still made about two grand.

Rip: Good to hear, kid.

Aaron: Now, I do need to talk to you about something. Frankie’s loan contract ended with the last show. Him and I sat down and had a lengthy talk after the show and I brought him on board full time.

Rip: Kid, didn’t you back away from him in January because he was asking too much?

Aaron: I talked him down a little bit. Granted he is now the second highest paid man on the roster, but I think he’s worth it in the long run Rip. I’ve got good plans for that kid.

Rip nodded, giving me the benefit of the doubt once again.

Rip: We’ll go with your gut kid. What about next cycle? Have you decided on anything for that yet?

I nodded as I pulled a piece of paper out of my notebook and slid it across his desk.

Aaron: Those are the two big matches I’m planning on.

Rip: Kid, I don’t know. Do you really think he’s ready for that yet?

Aaron: We’ll find out. If he doesn’t perform well, we’ll change the outcome of the blow-off match. I think he’ll do fine, though.

Rip: If you say so. By the way, I want you to do something new for me from now on. I’m finding myself unable to stay awake at the computer so I can’t sit down and browse around Pro Wrestling Hits to get all the latest news. I want you to compile a list of all the big news, signings and title changes each month and have it ready when we have our meeting.

I nodded. I was on the website constantly anyway, it wouldn’t be too much more to jot down notes as I browsed.

Aaron: I’ll do it for you next month. There is one thing you should know, Tommy just took TCW Global. He’s looking to expand again. So far it’s been a week and they haven’t come calling, but I’m sure they will. I’ll keep you in the loop.

Rip nodded and turned to his computer as I collected my things and prepared to leave. The card for our final show before Where It All Begins Again was sitting in Rip’s inbox and waiting to be advertised. We needed to hit big on the show to maximize interest in the company heading into our biggest show of the year.

Long post tonight guys. I meant to get the first part up before work yesterday, but didn't get to it. Hopefully you enjoy the main event. Please leave your comments below so I know what you guys are liking/disliking.

----------------------------------------------------------

Aaron: Mommy! Charlie is still upstairs!

He looked to his mother with worried eyes and she stood up. The rumbling was getting louder now and the house was starting to creak. She told him it would be alright and to stay put as she opened the door and called their dog from the bottom of the stairs. The sound was almost unbearable now and the house began to shake. Amongst all the noise from outside, Aaron heard claws against the kitchen floor. They ran around the corner and came down the stairs; right into Aaron’s waiting arms. The noise was at its loudest now and suddenly the house gave way.

The rumbling continued for a few seconds as rain began to pelt Aaron in the face. It confused the eight year old Aaron Fujita for a few seconds. He was inside so how could it be raining? That’s when he looked up and didn’t see the floor of the upstairs. He saw dark sky and rain falling. The house was gone. Aaron sniffled and pushed himself to his feet, grabbing for his forehead. A small nick caused blood to trickle down towards his mouth. The rumbling subsided; the tornado was gone. Charlie nudged Aaron’s leg as the youngster began to slowly move forward towards the doorway of the concrete room he had been in. He expected to see his mom any second now, coming to check on him. He stood in the doorway and called her name.

Aaron: Mom?

There was no response. He called again and still there was no response. His sniffles began to turn to cries of fear as he slowly stepped forward into the basement. His Australian Shepard Charlie remained at his side as they progressed forward. The rain had subsided and the clouds began to break as he slowly looked for his mother.

Aaron: Mom?

Still there was no response. He reached the bottom of the stairs, which were still intact, the last place his mother was. She wasn’t there anymore. He began to sob loudly as Charlie left his side and began sniffing around. Moments later, Charlie began to wine and bark before coming back to Aaron and nudging him again. Aaron followed his dog a few feet away as the sun began to shine down through the broken clouds. Just as the first ray of sunshine reached the ground, Aaron saw his mother’s face in the center of it. Aaron rushed to her side where she was pinned underneath a large oak bookcase. He pushed on her shoulder, trying to wake her up but she remained still and silent. Charlie licked her face, wining at the same time as Aaron’s sobs became heavier and heavier…..

Aaron sprang awake again. Sweat poured down his face and his breathing was heavy. He threw the sheet back and sat up, trying to compose himself. He reached for a bottle of water at his bedside and took a big swig as he got his emotions under control. These dreams needed to stop. These memories needed to go away.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWban.jpg

It was actually a very busy month leading up to The Clash. A lot of the guys that I had hired in January were up for contract negotiations. Jackpot Jordan, Jake Idol, Hugh de Aske, Marv Statler, Greg Gauge, Dean Waldorf and Kirk Jameson all re-signed. Even though the economy was declining, it was still strong which worried me. Some of the guys asked for pay raises, but I was able to sign most of them for the same amount they were making. In fact, Hugh even took a hundred dollar pay cut. I don’t know why, but he did. I also signed a new talent that came into the business at the beginning of the month. KC Glenn was the next can’t-miss prospect and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see what I could do with him before he went on to bigger things.

Speaking of moving on to bigger and better things, TCW had come calling on a member of our roster, but we’ll have to sort that out later. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that SWF offered a developmental deal to one of our guys to. A month away from our biggest show of the year. Oh well, we had a show to put on and it was time for me to head into the dressing room and mingle with the boys.

As I walked into the locker room, I stopped in on a conversation between Casey Valentine and Kirk Jameson as they were exchanging phone numbers while talking about battles in World War II. Who knew that these two young guys were such history buffs?

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWban.jpg

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWClash.jpg
Friday Week 4 September 2010

Live from The MAW Arena

Attendance: 265

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Marv%20Earnest.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Duke%20Hazzard.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Rip%20Chord.jpg

Announce Team: Marv Earnest Duke Hazzard Rip Chord

Pre-Show

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/KC%20Glenn.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Ricky%20Turner.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Ernest%20Forthdyke-Hume.jpg

KC Glenn vs. Ricky Douglas w/ Ernest Forthdyke-Hume

A short little match to allow the crowd to settle in here. The debuting Glenn looked good, but Ricky Douglas picks up the submission victory at five minutes with a Figure Four.

Winner: Ricky Douglas

Rating: D (46)

Main Show

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mainstream%20Hernandez.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jay%20Chord.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Clare%20South.jpg
Mainstream Hernandez vs. Jay Chord w/ Clare South

The crowd was hot for this one and the guys didn’t disappoint. Hernandez came out of the gate fast and furious and began taking it to Chord, getting several near falls. It seemed like Mainstream was playing the strategy of making Chord waste the energy to lift his shoulder from the mat as much as possible as a way to wear him down. Hernandez did everything he could to tie Chord up in a pinfall, but Chord had the drive to kickout every time. As the match neared seven minutes Hernandez began to intensify his attack. A few good combos led him to some very believable near falls. However a slip as he headed to the top rope for a moonsault was all the opening Chord needed. He rolled out of the way, causing Hernandez to crash to the mat on the high risk move. Chord stalked his prey and began to dismantle Hernandez’s game plan. At the ten minute mark Chord planted Mainstream with the Cradle Piledriver and picked up the victory heading into his shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship.

Winner: Jay Chord

Rating: C (64)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jack%20Avatar.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mean%20Jean%20Cattley.jpg

Backstage, Aaron Fujita exits the locker room and heads towards the catering area. As he rounds a corner he gets blindsided by Mean Jean Cattley. Cattley throws him into the wall and begins laying the boots to his foe. After a few moments of this, he stops and leans down to be face to face with the fallen man.

Jean: I can’t take this anymore, Fujita. You took my job; you changed my life. This ends tonight. I cannot wait for next month. It was a quick match as The Awesomeness had a fire inside them. Huey Cannonball picked up the pinfall in just over five minutes after hitting Riley McManus with the Cannonball Run.

Winners: The Awesomeness

Rating: D- (41)

After the match as Kashmir Singh and Riley McManus head to the back, Jefferson Stardust grabbed a microphone and addressed the crowd.

Jefferson: Consider this an example of what is going to happen next month. These guys put on a good show, doing a lot of innovative three man offense. The first elimination came when Greg Gauge locked Ace Youngblood in the Proton Lock. Youngblood eventually succumbed to the pain and tapped out, elimination his team from the match. Technicality and The Ring Generals went at it for another three minutes before Kirk Jameson hit the Bullseye on Marv Statler and picked up the pinfall for another successful title defense.

Winners: Technicality

Rating: D (46)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Rip%20Chord.jpg

Rip Chord stood from the announce table and entered the ring with a microphone and addressed the crowd.

Rip: Folks, due to the events between Mean Jean Cattley and Aaron Fujita earlier tonight, I am making a few adjustments to the remainder of tonight’s show. Cattley said he wanted to end this tonight, who am I to refuse? But I can’t allow this type of thing to continue in my ring or on my shows. I’ll sanction the match, Jean, but under one condition; A no disqualification Loser Leaves Town Match. Whoever loses the match is done with MAW for the foreseeable future. Now because of this change, the Traditional Title match is also being changed up. As Valentine was still making his entrance, Perez hit the ropes and dove between the second and top ropes, nailing Valentine with a dive. The crowd got into the match and cheered loudly as Perez took it to the champion. Frankie was able to hit a combination of piledriver variations at the seven minute mark that garnered a believable near fall. Frankie went for the Perfect Parity as the match eclipsed ten minutes, but Valentine was able to wiggle free and land behind his challenger. Valentine dropped to a knee and raised his fist up, landing a low blow in plain view of Jay Fair. The official had no choice but to call for the bell and award the match to Frankie Perez as a result of a disqualification, but Valentine held onto the title.

Winner: Frankie Perez by DQ

Rating: D (42)

Perez rolled out of the ring as the Traditional Champion grabbed a microphone and addressed the crowd as they littered the air with deafening boos.

Casey: Boo all you want. He took the fight to Hugh de Aske early, dropping the pirate with numerous strikes and impact moves. The champion dominated the match for the first five minutes, but Hugh caught him sleeping and changed the momentum with a small package that got him a two count. Hugh took it to the champion and had control of the match for the next few minutes. At the ten minute mark, both men went for clotheslines as they rebounded off the ropes and collided in the center of the ring. Jay Fair began to administer the ten count and as he reached five, neither man had moved. At the count of seven they both began to stir. Hugh was first to his feet and Patriot followed at the count of nine. Hugh and Patriot went towards each other and began attempting their respective finishers. Hugh finally had Patriot set up for the Cut-Throat Driver, but the champion wiggled free and was able to plant the pirate with an Inverted Piledriver to pick up the victory in just over thirteen minutes.

Winner: American Patriot

Rating: D+ (52)

Loser Leaves Town – No Disqualification

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jack%20Avatar.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mean%20Jean%20Cattley.jpg

Aaron Fujita vs. Mean Jean Cattley

The tension between these two men was heavy as they stood across from one another in the center of the ring. When the bell rang they went at it and the physicality was off the charts. The first ten minutes was spent brawling all over the ringside area, up the aisle and even into the crowd. Fujita had a fury and mean streak in him like he had never displayed before. Finally they spilled back into the ring and Fujita took control. It was short lived though as Cattley hit a low blow to stop Aaron in his tracks. Cattley left the ring and grabbed a steel chair from ringside, returning to bring it down on top of Fujita’s skull with a sickening THUD. Fujita went down and Cattley brought the chair down across his back twice more. As Cattley lifted Aaron to his feet, the blood began to trickle down his face. Cattley smiled at the sight and began to throw punch after punch. Fujita was bleeding heavily now as Cattley turned back to the chair. He brought the steel down on Aaron’s head once more before dropping the hunk of metal to the mat and capturing Fujita in a front facelock. The crowd watches as Cattley lifted his foe into the air and planted him on the chair with a brainbuster. Cattley went for the cover, but went nuts when Fujita kicked out.

Cattley went nuts, leaving the ring and looking for more weapons outside the ring. He found a table under the apron and slid it into the ring, paying no attention to the recovering Fujita. Cattley had the table set up in front of the turnbuckle and he turned to Fujita, but got caught with a sickening headbutt. Fujita fought back and landed a DDT before lifting cattley back up and laying him across the table. At the fifteen minute mark Aaron climbed the turnbuckle and prepared himself. He leapt into the air and drove Cattley through the table with his reverse 450 splash. The crowd counted along with Jay Fair.

ONE! TWO! THRE---OHHHHHHHHHH!

Cattley sent Fujita into a frenzy by lifting his shoulder from the mat. Fujita stood and brought Jean up with him, sending him into the ropes. As Jean rebounded he ducked a clothesline attempt and landed a boot to the gut. Fujita doubled over in front of him, allowing Cattley to grab Fujita’s head and drive him to the mat with a DDT onto the chair. Cattley covered and the crowd counted along again.

ONE! TWO! THRE---OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Fujita lifted his shoulder again. Cattley lifted Fujita to his feet and immediately hooked his arms from behind. He lifted Aaron up and dumped him high on his head and neck with a dragon suplex. Cattley scrambled over and covered again. Jay Fair slid into position and the crowd let their voice be heard again.

ONE! TWO! THREE-----OHHHHHHHHHHH!

Cattley’s eyes opened wide and he ran his hands through his hair in disbelief. Fujita had kicked out again. Jean slid out of the ring and retrieved another chair. He climbed back onto the apron and entered the ring only to be met with a sickening chair shot from Fujita. The crowd began chanting loudly.

THIS MATCH RULES!

Aaron opened the chair and set it in the center of the ring before stepping behind Cattley and snapping hi m over with a Backdrop Driver that drove Jean’s head into the steel. Fujita got right back up and hoisted Cattley to a vertical stance again before clenching him, lifting and driving his head to the mat with his QG-Theory piledriver. Fujita went for the cover, Jay Fair slid in and the crowd counted along.

ONE! TWO! THREE!

Fujita collapsed to the mat as the bell rang and Jay Fair began to check on each man’s condition. In just over twenty minutes Aaron Fujita had ended Mean Jean Cattley’s stay in MAW.

Winner: Aaron Fujita

Rating: C+ (70)

Overall Rating: D (47)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWban.jpg

Backstage I tended to the wound at the top of my head. I had sneezed just as I bladed and cut myself deeper than I wanted, opening a cut that would require stitches for sure. I had planned to make him look as strong as I could before he reported to RIPW, but he approached me and asked to put Jared Johnson over. I admired his selflessness and granted him his wish.

Jean had warned me that he was negotiating with TCW, which is why I sent The Clash into a partial re-write the week before. I felt bad changing the two matches we had, but it was necessary as I felt the need to close the book on the feud between myself and Jean. It had started out very real in January. Jean was very upset that I had stolen his job, but as the months went on he apologized and we worked well together. Rip tried to convince me to just let Jean leave and we could hold the fans in suspense for our blow-off match until he came back. I was less than convinced that he’d ever be back. Jean was a talented guy and I felt like he’d do great in TCW.

Prediction Standings (After 9 events) - Note: Because of this month's last minute shake-up, I'm giving out points if you chose the original card right.

1. emark (37)

2. bgbuff (25)

3.
I came into the office on Tuesday for my scheduled meeting with Rip. My headache had finally gone away, so I was feeling pretty good. Our meeting was pretty standard with Rip asking about financials and things of that sort. The effects of a strong economy were showing now as our bill for talent $17,000 for the second month in a row. We still managed to turn a $700 profit though. The economy wasn’t in the 90th percentile anymore, but was still in the high 80s. It was losing strength, as was the wrestling industry which was all the way down in the 30th percentile in terms of interest. Yet we were still increasing our crowds and making money. That was important. We were headed into our biggest show of the year and I really wanted to hit a homerun. I had big plans for the next cycle and we’d have to get them started at Where It All Begins Again. Riley McManus picked up a minor shoulder injury in his tag match, but he should be healed up by the time next month’s show rolls around. Just as Rip had asked last month, I spent Monday night compiling a list of news and notes from around the industry. Here’s what I gave him.

For September 2010

News

- TCW had expanded their horizons, becoming a Global promotion. We had already felt the effects by losing Jean Cattley.

- WEXXV rose to be classified as a Regional sized promotion.

- Dan Stone Sr. retired and allowed Jeremy to take control of NOTBPW. Jeremy promptly gave the booking duties to Dan Stone Jr.

- Skip Beau, a young brawler from Canada graduated from the DeColt Power House. CGC took a shot on his skills and signed him to a contract immediately.

- Frankie-Boy Fernandez graduated from the CZCW Coastal Resort and was awarded with a CZCW contract. Some industry pros have pegged him as a future star in the business with his excellent basics.

- Henry Bennett broke his ankle during a match and is expected to miss up to three months.

- Buddy Garner returned to the business after a two year hiatus. Good to see him back.

Hirings and Firings

- TCW filled out their roster by signing Fox Mask, Fumihiro Ota, Jez McArthuer, Steve Frehley, Rico Santana and Mexico’s Champagne Lover to contracts.

Sorry for the inactivity guys. It was my weekend to work which meant getting off Saturday at 11 and having to be back at 6 on Sunday. This card/predictions are going to hang in the air for a few days seeing as Black Ops comes out tomorrow night at midnight. I'll try and have the show up by Wednesday night, but no promises :-)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both Cameron and Jean had gone their respective ways and that left me with a re-write to do on Where It All Begins again. I was now without a match and the Traditional Title was up in the air. I spent most of the first week in October doing this revision and was finally happy with what I had come up with. I e-mailed Rip the card so he could get it off to the printing company and radio stations for advertising. Here’s what I settled on.

MAW presents Where It All Begins Again

Friday Week 4 October 2010

Live from The MAW Arena

Main Event – Mid Atlantic Championship – Two out of Three Falls

Jay Chord vs. American Patriot ©

These two men have been at each other’s throats since Jay Chord won the right to face the Mid Atlantic Champion back in January. His victory in the Rip Chord Invitational has sent Chord on a frenzy. He finally gets his shot at the title in the main event.

Aaron Fujita vs. ???

Aaron Fujita has gone on record so say that he will appear at WIABA to issue an open challenge to anybody in the wrestling business that wants to face him. Rumors have already been floating around the MAW message boards about who could be at the show to answer Fujita’s challenge.

Frankie Perez vs. Citizen X

After humiliating Perez by making him submit to his own submission move during the five on five warfare at The Battle of the Mid Atlantic, Citizen X looks to back that up here. Perez issued the challenge as a hope of revenge. With Citizen X accepting the challenge, will Perez do just that?

Mainstream Hernandez vs. Casey Valentine

Both of these young men are coming off of tremendous performances in the last few months. With Valentine’s statement of “having bigger and better things to do,” before vacating the Traditional Title, can he back that up with a victory here?

Mid Atlantic Tag Team Titles

The Awesomeness vs. Technicality ©

The former champions of Huey Cannonball and Jefferson Stardust are invoking their rematch here and look to regain the titles they lost just a few months ago. Coming off a string of solid title defenses the champions of Greg Gauge and Kirk Jameson are hell bent on retaining their titles once again.

Here's a little update for all my followers:

I was able to get the show written up to my specifications before work tonight...err last night I guess. I went out and picked up Black Ops and am in between matches right now. Hopefully at some point tomorrow I'll take a break from this game and get it formatted for posting. So there's still time for predictions. Also at this time I'd like to announce the "prize" for winning the prediction contest after one game year of shows. This year's winner will be able to choose the main event (within reason) of Fan Festival 2011. So good luck to you all and I wait in anticipation for what happens with that!

The final hours leading up to our biggest show of the year were quiet, thankfully. Jay didn’t cause any problems, nobody pulled any pranks and no one tried to start a bar in the locker room. I was able to relax in my office with Clare at my side as the boys began to file into the arena. I had come to expect a time pattern with most of the boys as they would arrive at the same time every month. Casey Valentine was always the first guy to show up. His loyalty to MAW was kind of heartwarming in a way, but at the same time I hoped he wasn’t committing career suicide by never listening to offers from other companies. Jay was always one of the last ones to show up. Big surprise? I had everyone checked off my list and was finishing up a quick minor re-write for the night. Apparently there was a city ordinance on this night that required any show length changes to be made at least a day in advance. I wanted to lengthen our show, but it didn’t happen. So I had to re-adjust the time allocation for segments I had made and get them posted. When it was done, Clare and I walked out of my office and into the dressing room in preparation to experience our first Where It All Begins Again.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWWIABA.jpg
Friday Week 4 October 2010

Live from The MAW Arena

Attendance: 223

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Marv%20Earnest.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Duke%20Hazzard.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Rip%20Chord.jpg

Announce Team: Marv Earnest Duke Hazzard Rip Chord

Pre Show

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jake%20Idol.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jackpot%20Jordan.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Ace%20Youngblood.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Randy%20Maxx.jpg
Rich & Famous vs. The Aces of Mayhem

This was an extremely short match to give the crowd time to settle in. X tried to wear down Frankie using a series of strikes and holds. Finally he went for a brainbuster, but Frankie wiggled free and landed a desperation clothesline that sent both men to the mat. Jay Fair made his ten count, getting all the way to seven before either man budged. By ten they were both back on their feet and trading strikes. Perez rocked the anarchist with a forearm followed by a step up enziguri and took control from there, landing the Perfect Parity. The in-ring action was decent. Greg and Huey started off with some solid chain wrestling to open the match. After wrestling to two stand-offs, they tagged out to their respective tag team partners. Kirk and Jefferson put on a more physical display, using strikes to break each other down. A handy double team corner powerbomb/superkick combination by The Awesomeness led to a believable near fall at five minutes. Kirk struggled to get the tag to his partner and when he finally did, Greg came in and cleaned house. As they approached the seven minute mark Greg repeatedly tried to lock Huey in the Proton Lock, but Jefferson Stardust was right there to break it up. Kirk came in and blindsided the wannabe rock star and took him out of the equation. A DDT later, Greg locked Huey into the Proton Lock and forced him to submit at seven and a half minutes.

Winners: Technicality

Rating: D (45)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWTraditional.jpg

Mid Atlantic Traditional Championship

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jared%20Johnson.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Kashmir%20Singh.jpg

Jared Johnson vs. Kashmir Singh

The in-ring action was solid, but the crowd just wasn’t completely into the match as these two guys went out to fight to be crowned the new champion. Singh gained the early advantage with a flurry of fast paced offense but Johnson made a comeback countering with some solid technical wrestling. The match was even, with neither man gaining a clear advantage. As they approached six minutes, Singh planted Johnson with a spinning reverse implant DDT that garnered him a believable near fall. Johnson really felt it after kicking out as he got to his feet and began to make a comeback. A combination of DDT/cross arm breaker led to him locking in the Carolina Crossface, forcing Kashmir Singh to tap out in seven minutes giving Johnson his first taste of professional gold.

Winner: Jared Johnson (New Champion)

Rating: E+ (30)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Mainstream%20Hernandez.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Casey%20Valentine.jpg
Mainstream Hernandez vs. Casey Valentine

The crowd was in good form to match the good in-ring action here as these two young stars put on a show. There was a lot of back and forth action to start the match, but four minutes in Mainstream Hernandez took control. He paced the match how he wanted to, keeping Valentine running tow wear him out. Mainstream hit several high impact moves during this period but could only get a two count. Valentine fought back as the match neared ten minutes. Hernandez was setting him up for a superplex, but Valentine fought out of it and came off the top with a senton splash. Casey covered and got a two count as he started to feel it. Hernandez went for a clothesline, but Casey ducked and drove him to the mat with a Deep Impact to secure the pinfall and victory in eleven and a half minutes.

Winner: Casey Valentine

Rating: D+ (49)

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Jack%20Avatar.jpg

Aaron Fujita comes to the ring and receives a microphone.

Aaron: For the last six months I planned on spending tonight in this ring with Jean Cattley. The crowd was loud for this one as Devine just continued to beat Fujita back down to the mat at any signs of life. The dirty tactics were plentiful as well as Devine used a lot of closed fists and eye rakes to hold his advantage. As the match neared seven minutes old Fujita ducked a clothesline attempt and came back off the ropes again with a clothesline of his own. He began to take control with a series of fast paced moves that sent Devine for a loop. At the nine minute mark Darryl attempted another clothesline, but Fujita ducked and got his boot into his opponent’s gut. With Devine reeling, Aaron set him up for the QG Theory, driving his head to the mat. Fujita crawled over and covered as Jay Fair slid in and the crowd counted along.

ONE! TWO! THR---OHHHHHHHH!

Devine got his shoulder up just in the nick of time. Jay Fair assured Fujita it was only a two count as the meteorologist went back to work on the USPW star. Devine fought back with an eye rake and took control. He wore Fujita down and planted him with a DDT before lifting him back up for a neckbreaker. He still wasn’t finished as he brought Aaron back up and planted him with a Devine Dream Drop and covered as the fans counted along.

ONE! TWO! THR---------RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It was Fujita’s turn to defy the odds and lift his shoulder from the mat. Devine couldn’t believe it and got in Jay Fair’s face. Fair warned Darryl to back off which he did and went back to work on Fujita. Devine began laying right hands, forearms and chops onto his opponent, backing him into the corner. Devine clutched Aaron’s head, climbing to a sitting position on the top rope, possibly looking for a tornado DDT. Fujita fought out though and landed a sickening headbutt to Devine that sent him reeling. Aaron climbed to a standing position on the second rope and grabbed Devine in a front facelock. The funs buzzed in anticipation for a superplex, but what they got was much more destructive. Fujita lifted Devine into a suplex position and then dropped to the mat, driving Devine’s head into the top turnbuckle. The crowd gasped at the tunbuckle brainbuster as Devine’s body crashed to the mat and Fujita crawled over to cover.

ONE! TWO! They were vocal during each man’s entrance and stayed that way for the duration of the contest. The match started off slow with each man feeling out his opponent. The first five minutes was filled with lots of technical chain wrestling. One man would get the advantage and lock his foe into a hold, but quickly they would reverse it into another hold. The crowd began to get behind Patriot as he strung together a few holds and started to gain the advantage. As they neared the seven minute mark, the pace quickened a bit as the chain wrestling began to dwindle and the physicality started to pick up. Patriot used his strikes to rock his challenger as Chord was using his quickness to avoid as much as he could. Patriot was able to land a few suplex variations to get a couple of two-counts, but Chord was quick to his feet each time. They neared the ten minute mark now and business was sure picking up. Patriot had turned his focus to Chord’s head and neck, landing DDTs and other moves to weaken that part of the body. Finally he got his first opportunity and latched onto both of Chord’s arms from behind, trying to take him over with a Dragon Suplex. Chord flipped through the air, but got his hands down before his head, minimizing the impact as he rolled to his feet. Patriot charged back towards him looking for a clothesline, but jay ducked and slammed on the brakes. As the champion turned around, Chord brought his boot into the mid-section of American Patriot and took the opportunity at hand. With Patriot doubled over, Chord lifted him up and planted him with a Cradle Piledriver.

ONE! TWO! THREE!

Jay Chord leads one fall to zero.

Chord had captured the all important first fall. One more and he would become the new Mid Atlantic Champion. He quickly hooked Patriot’s leg again, but the champion had recovered enough to get his shoulder off the mat. Chord lifted him up and went back to work as they neared the fifteen minute mark. Chord held control of the match for a few minutes until he saw his opportunity and slammed Patriot the mat with a vicious powerbomb. Chord smiled as he looked to the crowd before falling forward to cover his opponent. Patriot reached up and cradled Chord, though, taking him into a small package. Jay Fair was right there.

ONE! TWO! THREE!

American Patriot ties the match at one fall a piece.

With the match back to even, both men were right back where they started. Chord went crazy at the flash pinfall, laying boot after boot into the champion’s stomach and head. The crowd booed his brutal attack, which only seemed to fuel the fire inside the challenger. Chord became more and more violent from this point forward. Patriot tried to recover, but Chord wouldn’t allow him to. The match closed in on twenty minutes with the challenger still in complete control. Chord brought Patriot to his feet and sent him into the turnbuckle hard with an Irish Whip. Jay tried to follow him in with a running clothesline, but the champ got his boot up to stop the challenger in his tracks. Patriot came charging out of the corner and nearly took Chord’s head off with a clothesline as both men fell to the canvas. Jay Fair saw neither man was moving and began his count of ten. At seven, they were both grabbing the ropes, looking for assistance in rising to their feet. By nine they were on wobbly legs, but standing. Fair halted his count and watched as the two men came together in an exchange of strikes right in the center of the ring. As Patriot landed his blows, the crowd would cheer. When Chord landed his, they booed. Patriot gained the advantage with three successive right hands, but when he attempted a clothesline Chord ducked and spun around. The champion was ready though, landing a stiff forearm that turned Chord around. Patriot sprung into action, grabbing Chord and dumping onto his head with the Backdrop Driver. The crowd cheered loudly as Patriot covered and Jay Fair slid in for the count.

ONE! TWO! THR----OHHHHHHHH!

Chord had kicked out. Patriot couldn’t believe it. Neither could the three men on commentary. Patriot stood up and lifted Jay up as well. Jay instinctively blocked a few right hands from the champion and then charged forward looking for a clothesline. Patriot ducked, but Jay couldn’t stop as he crashed into Jay Fair, crushing him in the corner. The official was down and out as Chord turned back to Patriot and landed a low blow for good measure. The crowd booed as Chord climbed out of the ring and grabbed a chair from ringside before heading back to the action. Patriot was just climbing to his feet as Chord stalked his prey with the chair in hand. Jay wound up and was about to bring the steel down when somebody snatched the chair from his hands. It was Rip Chord who had left his place at the announce table. Rip looked on and mouthed the words “Not like that,” as Jay became more and more aggravated. Jay turned for a second and then with lightning speed spun around and clocked his father with a big right hand. Rip dropped the chair back into the ring before falling from the apron. Jay snatched the steel back up and prepared for another shot, but the champion was back recovered. Patriot ducked the first swing, but Jay was quick to turn around. His second swing came down across the top of Patriot’s skull with a lot of force, caving the steel seat in. Jay tossed the chair out of the ring and dragged Jay Fair over where he covered the champion.

ONE! TWO! THREE------RAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

Somehow the champion found the strength to kick out. Jay was furious with the referee. Jay Fair was still not fully recovered as Chord backed him into the corner and clocked him with a right hand. The challenger shoved the official out of the ring and went back to work on his foe, laying boot after boot to the mid-section. Jay backed up a few feet, measuring Patriot up for a punt kick to the head. He smiled devilishly as the champion got to all fours. Chord was about to take off when a hand on his shoulder stopped him cold. Jay turned around to see his father standing in the ring face to face with him. The two began to argue for a few moments before the younger version tried to fire a right hand. Rip blocked it and shoved his son back. Jay came rushing forwards with a clothesline attempt, but his veteran father ducked. Jay was beyond angry now as he stopped and turned back around. He charged once more, but his dad side stepped him, allowing Jay to run right into a boot to the stomach from American Patriot. The champion set Jay up and drove his head into the mat with an Inverted Piledriver as the matched entered its twenty-fifth minute. Patriot covered and with Jay Fair still outside the ring, Rip Chord dropped to the mat and counted his son’s shoulders down.

ONE! TWO! He retrieved the Mid Atlantic Title and took it to the retaining champion. Patriot thanked him as Rip exited the ring and returned to the commentary table. The crowd cheered loudly as Jay Chord got to his feet and slowly exited the ring. As he backed up the ramp he stared past the man in the ring and straight to his father. Note: Sorry about the inactivity guys, Black Ops has pretty much consumed my life since Monday. I've almost prestiged and once I do, I won't play as much. Anyway, here's tonight's post.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

My meeting with Rip went well. We had made almost $1100 on the month. We discussed the direction I was taking everything over the course of the next few months and even some of our storylines that could extend all the way to next year’s Where It All Begins Again. When I sat down with Rip and Jay to discuss doing a storyline, it took a while to convince them. Jay was unsure about the whole thing, presumably because he was afraid of being punished for his bad behavior. Rip was uneasy because he felt like the time wasn’t right. It had only been a few years since Jay had debuted and Rip felt like we could sit on it for a while longer and allow the anticipation to build. After a bit of sweet talking I was able to talk both of them into the idea. I felt like it would draw a lot of good attention to MAW while we were doing good things. During the meeting Rip and I went over the normal things like the state of the economy and the wrestling industry. The economy was still in the 80th percentile but trending downward. The industry was in horrible condition, sitting in the upper thirtieth percentile and still losing strength. Maybe we could do something about that with our upcoming storylines. One could only hope. Before I left for a lunch with Clare, I gave Rip a copy of my industry notes and a copy of the card to promote. Here they are.

November wasn’t nearly as busy as October was contract wise, but we still had a few people up for negotiations. Jared Johnson, Ricky Douglas and Jefferson Stardust all signed new deals. I also made contact with El Heroe Mexicano to discuss a possible contract. He was set on staying in his native Mexico for a while, but once I mentioned that Rip Chord was really interested in him, his tune changed. I guess he is a big wrestling history buff and respected the hell out of Rip Chord. Mexicano agreed to come up and give us a shot. I was happy he agreed and immediately worked him into this month’s show. I spent a little extra time in my office this month with Clare by my side. It was funny that she was just a simple young woman from Alabama yet knew more about the business than some guys I had wrestled against. She would often pipe up and offer suggestions as I was writing shows. Tonight I was scribbling last minute adjustments to our December show which would set-up and take us into The Rip Chord Invitational. When I was done, I only had about forty-five minutes to mingle with the boys in the locker room. No matter how long it was, it was still one of the best parts of the night.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWban.jpg

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/MAWProving.jpg
Sunday Week 4 November 2010

Live from The MAW Arena

Attendance: 447

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Marv%20Earnest.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Duke%20Hazzard.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Rip%20Chord.jpg

Announce Team: Marv Earnest Duke Hazzard Rip Chord

Pre Show

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/KC%20Glenn.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/El%20Heroe%20Mexicano.jpg
KC Glenn vs. El Heroe Mexicano

A good way to open the show here as the fans settled in. It was time to give back to the wrestling industry. I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit back and watch my son steal the premier title of MY company by cheating. All I did was enforce the rules while Jay Fair was incapacitated. I never hit you, I never pushed you. It was all a creation of your doing. So my answer is no. You can earn yourself another shot at the Mid Atlantic Title by entering the tournament in January. Chord held the advantage for the majority of the match. For a good time in the opening minutes he held Perez in a headlock and continued to turn his back on the referee and use a closed fist while staring directly at his father. Perez tried everything to gain an advantage, but he could never get the momentum to swing. As the match closed in on the fifteen mark Frankie began to get more and more offense in. Finally he was able to catch the advantage and hit Chord with the Perfect Parity. Each man went for a clothesline at the twenty five minute mark that set them back on an even playing field. The champion controlled most of the first fifteen minutes of the match, wearing X down with various holds. As the match closed in on twenty-five minutes each man attempted to hit their signature move multiple times, but each was able to escape.
I stepped into Rip’s office for our creative meeting on the third of the month. He sat at his computer and barely looked up as I sat down. I could tell something was wrong, but waited to say anything. Once I had my paperwork out I handed him a copy of our financial report and waited for his reaction.

Aaron: Good stuff right Rip? Our attendance doubled this month.

Rip nodded and set the report down without saying anything.

Aaron: What’s wrong Rip? I figured you’d be overly ecstatic with a five thousand profit for the month.

Rip sighed and exited out of the program on his computer.

Rip: Kid, you remember when I gave you this job I also gave you a list of goals?

Aaron: Of course.

Rip: I told you I wanted Casey Valentine and Jay to be kept as major threats at all times. Casey is there, but just barely. Jay on the other hand is losing momentum and losing it fast. That needs to change kid.

I nodded and lowered my head.

Aaron: I know Rip. The thing is, I have a feeling if we push Jay too hard and too fast, he’ll up and leave us. As much of a problem he is backstage, he is one of our better wrestlers. We need him in the long run.

Rip: I don’t care. If he ever gets that in his mind, I’ll talk to him. He needs to be made to be a threat again.

This was the part of Rip I didn’t enjoy working with. Once he had his mind set on something, there was no way to convince him otherwise. I had been doing my best to keep Jay looking good despite losses, but it just wasn’t working. Nobody on our roster had great momentum to begin with, so it was hard to keep Casey and Jay as high as Rip wanted, even if I was giving them wins.

Aaron: Allright Rip. I’ll do what I can.

We finished up the meeting by talking about the state of the economy and wrestling industry. Both were around the same levels as the month before and still declining. I wouldn’t mind if the economy dropped off just a bit more before leveling out, but the industry needed to come back around. We did have a large increase in attendance, but I’m not sure how long that will continue. The meeting concluded with whatever tension stood between us alleviated a bit. He had the card for next month in his inbox to promote. I hoped it would be as good as last month.

Aaron: Clare, you ready to go?

I yelled down the hall to my bedroom where Clare was getting her things together. She had moved up here at the beginning of the month, bidding farewell to the state of Alabama. Things between us had been getting pretty serious as of late and this was that next step. Every second I spent with her I felt more comfortable with the thought of spending the rest of our lives together.

Clare: I’m coming. Why do we have to leave so much earlier today?

I was busy making a last ditch effort to straighten up my apartment before leaving for the evening. Seeing as I had agreed to pay travel expenses for some of the boys, I had talked some of them into staying at my place to save on hotel costs. I wasn’t inviting just anyone into my home, only the guys that I was good friends with. Frankie Perez was the first. We had worked a fair number of shows together in the past, but our friendship had really blossomed since he came into MAW. Just about every month after a show, there was six or seven of us just sitting around my apartment and having fun. Besides Frankie, Hugh de Aske was another regular. The thing that made his presence so great was the fact he would stay in character the entire time. I was beginning to wonder whether or not he EVER broke kayfabe.

Aaron: Sweetie, I’ve got to pick up three guys from the airport. Two of them have never been here before, so I’d like to try to be early.

She laughed as she walked to the front door. I had my bags waiting there. It wasn’t much longer before we were on our way to pick up our newest full-time signing and two guys I had brought in on talent trades.

Clare: So do I know the new guy?

I smiled as I looked at her.

Aaron: Just about every independent wrestling fan knows him. He just got off a tour in Japan. He’s one of the best young talents available. I just hope none of the big companies sign him before I get a chance to fulfill the potential he has. You drive; I’ve got to do a quick re-write of the show to make sure his debut is nothing short of amazing.

Still time for last minute predictions. Show will either be up later tonight or tomorrow. Year end awards will follow that up.
