"Holy crap, what's wrong with Killdozer?"

"Simply put.. the boy crazy".

That's, quite simply, what Mo Mackenzie opened with when I sat down with him again. Despite his ego and general aggravation causing attitude, he's been surprisingly happy to be interviewed and talked to since joining the promotion.

And of course, I had to open up with asking him what the hell went on with Nate at the end of Finest Hour. A badly photoshopped image with inverted colours stripped him of his faculties, and left him sobbing and screaming in the middle of the ring.

"Nate, man. You just don't know. You know who that guy was on the photo?"

I answered in the negative. Even if I knew who it was, I don't think I'd be brave enough to admit it.

"****. Neither do I. Maybe it was an old neighbour. Rumour was Nate was kinda friendly as a child with an old dude around the corner. Then dude got taken away in a police van. Maybe something went on in there". Mo shook his head. "But you'd imagine if someone had fiddled Nate, he'd be dead and Nate'd be in jail by now."

Mo was completely perplexed. The verbal outpouring carried on, but it was more a stream of consciousness as he tried to make sense of it.

"Maybe it was that kid that Nate stamped all the teeth out of. Back to haunt him. Maybe Nate has a conscience." Mo bursts out laughing. "Haha, a conscience, goddamn. At least we know that'll never happen."

I question Mo. He's in a tag match with Nate against a new tag team of Simonson and Stratosphere. What if something happens there that turns Nate into a sobbing wreck.

"Then I wreck the retard responsible. I'll find him, Wilder. And then we'll have a goddamn reckoning."

Swoop McCarthy won it last year - will he make it twice in a row - or can one of the many up and comers in the match do it?

~ The Brothers Mackenzie vs. Technical Excellence (Harry Simonson and Jimmy Stratosphere) - It could be the end for The Alliance, as Simonson seems to have taken a note from Dingo Devine and taken a protege under his wing. Stratosphere is a renowned high flyer, but has very well developed basic skills and quite a technical flair. Will this new tag pairing stand a chance against Dozer and Mo?

~ Cole Taylor vs. Motty Kuroda - Alyx is in the main event, and Jimmy has a new mentor. Both of these men have rather been abandoned - can either make a name for themselves here?

Swoop would be the obvious choice but I´m going to different route and pick Boo as he is second best guy here and deserves a change in the spotlight.

Simonson has horrible record so far and Jimmy is pretty much a jobber (though teaming up with Simonson should help him rise up the ranks) so even with that mystery guy haunting Mackenzie I still don´t see them winning this one mainly because I doubt that Jimmy has enough overness to go over two of your top heels.

I think that Cole has more upside.

Frank Mucciolo: This is easily our most stacked card we've ever had - and to celebrate that let's open with The Masters casually smashing aside The New Blondes and reclaiming their titles!

Tag Team Titles Match

THE ACTION: The feud that will never end, it seems! Both teams know each other almost intimately now, and it shows in the overall quality of the match. A very solid opener, but The Masters have little in the way of momentum and weren't particularly impressive tonight. The New Blondes retain, despite Sean Quartermainne's best efforts to ruin the match from ringside.

Rating: 51 / D+

MB: That all important first defence is in the bag for The Blondes, and with little other threat in the tag division I'm not sure there's much to challenge them!

Simonson and Alyx are face to face backstage, almost nose to nose. Alyx is just casually grinning, but Harry seems genuinely pissed off. What's been said before now is unknown.

Harry Simonson: You know, Alyx, when I saw you bust out that superkick, I was pleased. A new talent showing a tribute to a veteran such as myself. It was good form, too. Perfect timing, perfect elevation, good rotation in the hips. Perfect. But then you decided to turn my own move on me. You stole my signature move, you little bitch.

Alyx Macquarie: Stole? Harry, I've refined your stupid little "Headshot". The Carcano Kick is a thing of beauty. As you said, it's nothing short of perfect. Hell, I might pay you a visit tonight in your match with the Mackenzie brothers, and plant my boot right under your chin.

HS: You try it, and I'll rip you limb from limb.

??: OH MAN! This is THE most awkward thing, ever! Look at you two!

Swoop McCarthy: Goddamn! They told me you two were here, desperately trying to act tough and psyche each other out! And I just had to check it out!

SM: ****, you share a move and now you share your own little catchphrase! That's absolutely adorable. Simonson, good luck not getting your crap pushed in by Dozer tonight. And Macquarie, you'll feel what a Swoop DDT through a table feels like later. That's it. No posturing, no stupidity, just a promise. And you know I always keep my word.

McCarthy heads off, laughing all the while, and HS and AM almost tut at each other and disappear off, the tension of the moment completely gone with Swoop's mockery.

THE ACTION: A fairly simplistic match - both have partners tied up elsewhere tonight, so this was a short and simple contest designed to keep any possible rust away. Taylor defeats Kuroda after eight minutes with a crotch shot and a handful of tights. Cheat.

MB: Well, I've been massively looking forward to this next match. Something has compelled Simonson to take the Jimmy Stratosphere under his wing, and tonight we see their new team in action. "Technical Excellence" - bravado or a true statement of their abilities, Frank?

FM: I think the only statement going on here tonight will be Dozer showing that creepy face that it doesn't bother him at all, and that last month was a blip.

The Brothers Mackenzie vs. Technical Excellence

THE ACTION: A true contrast in style - Simonson and Stratosphere showed nothing extra special between them, but could be a useful pairing. Dozer looked his usual self tonight and bullied poor Jimmy around, even hitting him with a 300lb Spear which Jimmy only got out of because he was thrown up and out of the ring by the force of the impact. Mo got in on the action a little and was generally picked on by Technical Excellence, including a very interesting couple of spots where Harry and Jimmy played up their different styles - Harry instructing Jimmy on how to lock in the Boston Crab, and Jimmy educating Harry on hitting a flying elbow from the top rope. Ultimately though this counted for nothing - all it took was for Dozer to get fed up and smash the hell out of both Harry and Jimmy, putting them down after about twenty minutes. A decent first effort though!

Rating: 56 / C-

FM: True dominance - and Dozer has clearly not lost even the slighest step-

The lights go out. Thunder crackles. Numbers flicker on the screen but are indistinct and unclear. Mo tries to get Dozer out of the ring and up the aisle, but isn't quick enough. The JDM Arena has a large video screen, split in two, mounted on the wall where APW put their ramp. And, of course...

MB: That face again, Frank!

Interestingly, there is a good cheer when the face appears, as if the fans enjoy what they know will come next. Upon seeing the face, Dozer trembles and collapses as if having a seizure. Mo tries valiantly to keep him upright, but isn't quite big enough, and the champion clatters to the floor. Maurice is left screaming impotently up at the screen, in vain hope that whoever that is will enter the arena and go toe to toe with him, but today he's left disappointed.

Rating: 68 / C+

MB: Twice now we've had that happen - I've never seen Dozer seem so vulnerable. But when the face goes and the lights come on, it's as if nothing happened. There's something very wrong going on in the APW at the moment folks.

MB: Well, put it out of your mind everyone, because up next we have our main event - the most hardcore event of the entire year! Welcome to the APW Shot at the Top match. The rules are simple - if you go through a table, you're out. The last man left will receive a title shot he can cash it at any point.

FM: McCarthy won it last year, and the predictable idiot cashed it in and gave Dozer plenty of notice. Swoop could grab a victory here - but we have quite a crop of talent in this event - including a tag team who could help each other out!

Shot at the Top Match

MB: There are five tables dotted around, all at ringside. This is going to be brutal!

THE ACTION: Hope no-one minds, but a six man match is full of so much chaos a bulletpointed list might be more clear.

~ Devine and Banks immediately went for Smithson, Macquarie and McCarthy went at it and Stantz was very much the odd man out. This suited him, and he took a seat down at ringside, back against the guard rail, waiting patiently!

~ Smithson was the first elimination, Banks and Dingo overpowering him despite a few near misses with Banks almost going through a table they set up for Boo. In the end, them taking the match ringside gave them more weapons and chances to cause him harm, and it was a joint back drop that ended Smithson's dream this year.

~ Macquarie showed himself surprisingly competent, going toe to toe with McCarthy and matching him move for move.

~ Banks and Devine moved in on Rick, and essentially did the same job on him. Rick managed to counter Banks trying to suplex him with that wonderful swinging cutter we saw. However, that left Rick vulnerable to Dingo, and a fisherman's suplex was all that was needed to eliminate the troubled Stantz. The force of the impact left him sat in almost the same position as earlier, against the guard rail.

~ Banks and Devine moved into the ring, to find Macquarie waiting with a Carcano Kick for Dingo, and a Swoop DDT all queued up for Alex. The match again spilled outside and various chairs were cracked off skulls, but seperating Dingo and his protege is obviously the way to go. Swoop used a new urinagi to scoop up Alex and crunch him through the table, and Alyx simply used a Carcano Kick to send Dingo flying backward and into the unforgiving wood.

~ Upon the two being left, Simonson's music hit, and he came limping down to the ring. Macquarie and McCarthy ceased their hostilities, and waited for him. Both met him with a flurry of boots and kicks, in a clear message to The Hitman. Together they scooped him up and dumped him over the ring, and resumed the match.

~ Swoop looked to have the upper hand, until Simonson reappeared just as Alyx had McCarthy tied up on the ropes. Simonson had murder in his eyes and snuck up on Macquarie, setting up the Headshot Superkick. However, Alyx must have known he was there, and ducked, allowing Harry's move to catch Swoop right in the face and send him backwards over the top rope and crashing through the final table! Alyx thanked Harry for this help with a Carcano Kick of his own - and then realised that the bell was ringing. Alyx Macquarie is your 2011 Shot at the Top champion!

Rating: 57 / C-

FM: He did it! The Rebel did it! Alyx Macquarie is our Shot at the Top champion!

MB: An awesome match all round - Smithson will feel robbed, Stantz barely got going - and Harry may have made the already terrible feeling between him and McCarthy even worse. Folks, this is the end of the show - we'll see you all next month at the Championship Carnival!

As the show ends, the camera pans around ringside. The area is covered with splintered and broken wood, and shows a few final conclusions to the show. Badly bruised and clearly in pain, Dingo and Alex Banks are seen dragging Boo up the ramp for more punishment out of sight of the crowd. Rick Stantz is sitting, still against the guard rail, with a vacant look in his eyes. Even more alarming is the frantic scratching of his wrists that he's doing. McCarthy is left, unmoving, in the wreckage of the table that took away his title shot, and Macquarie is up on the turnbuckle, clearly overjoyed and taunting the crowd with his new belt.

Maurice Mackenzie emerges from the crowd and hops the rail. He stands over the broken McCarthy, and laughs. And laughs, and laughs, and laughs.

Rating: 51 / D+

Final Event Rating: 57 / C- - Same as last month - but rated higher on our overall top 10 than Finest Hour!

"Alright, I'm lost. Who's pissed with who?"

APW, like some other promotions, places itself into seasons. We consider each four monthly blocks to work as one "season", and when we do eventually hit the TV waves, this will appear even more true. For now though, we just use the blocks of four to try to keep things fresh, and try to change things up just a little every four or eight shows. There are of course times where this isn't possible, wouldn't make sense, or we're on to a good thing and don't need to change anything, but it can lead to confusion. I thought I'd look at our major storylines and help refresh some memories.

Killdozer vs. ???:

Dozer has been tormented for the past few months by an unknown assailant. But how do you torment someone who could eat an enter kindergarten in an hour? Mentally, that's how. Dozer has found himself screaming and retching as a result of some of the videos shown by this mysterious black and white face, and it shows no sign of stopping. How will the APW Commonwealth champion stand up to his numerous challengers with this threat around the corner?

Swoop McCarthy vs. Maurice Mackenzie:

It's been simmering for a while, but finally the Next Big Thing meets the former Next Big Thing. Mo is new, brash and hungry for success, whilst McCarthy has had a huge amount of success aged just 23. Mo finally made his move at the end of Shot at the Top, and I'm sure we'll see more of these two in the very near future.

Swoop McCarthy vs. Harry Simonson:

It's odd to see a face vs. face confrontation, but ever since the now defunct Alliance group was set up by Simonson, McCarthy refused to be drawn into it. It even made these two come to blows, and you can tell from Swoop's derision of Harry at Shot at the Top that it's not over yet.

Stan Standish and The Streak:

Stan has recently joined The Masters, and it was revealed that Sean Quartermainne was the mastermind behind Stan's current streak of 8 wins in a row. The APW Australian champion looks as strong as he ever has, and it's going to take something special to stop him in his tracks - especially with Quartermainne being the APW GM.

Rick Stantz:

Another interesting case of mental instability, we saw Stantz on the floor talking to himself and scratching at his wrists after being eliminated from the Shot at the Top match. Being put through a table is enough to scramble anyone's wits, but he hasn't been the same since he lost the Australian title and turned on best friend Blake Belushi.

Dingo Devine and Alex Banks vs. Boo Smithson:

Devine shocked everyone when he turned on best friend Boo Smithson, but has gone from strength to strength since. He surprised even more people when he took Alexander Banks under his wing, and the two have surged up the card since. Both men appeared in the Shot at the Top match, and although they were eliminated, were able to deal out yet more punishment to Smithson at the end of the show.

Alyx Macquarie vs. Harry Simonson:

This is a feud that has dithered in the background a while, but looks set to go full bore now. Macquarie won Shot at the Top against all odds, and holds a championship shot of his choosing at any point. Macquarie is a wily one, and will likely not rush into it - but first these two need to settle their fued. The Headshot or the Carcano Kick? Which finisher will reign supreme?

The Tag Team division:

The New Blondes look secure as champions, and have beaten The Masters fair and square recently. However, the emergence of Dingo Devine and Alex Banks as a team, and Harry Simonson and Jimmy Stratosphere as "Technical Excellence", could shake the divison up a little.

Well, by recollection, that's all the drama going on now - but this should be an interesting "season" or two ahead!

I'm thinking mind games or some sort of finish that leaves Killdozer as a strong and meacing guy minus the belt. Maybe destroying a cage wall but ultimately having Swoop crushed underneath him as he falls out?

Standish has his streak and although this'd be the perfect way to move the title from him without losing the 'un-pinned' streak, I don't see it happening.
