Why should she get a rematch, it's not like it was last few seconds in a round. It was a clear victory. It's like giving Brock an istant rematch with Cain or Chael an istant rematch with Silva.

Chael Sonnen was getting an instant rematch with Anderson until the failed drug test came to light. http://mmajunkie.com/news/20406/dana-white-chael-sonnen-rematch-up-next-for-ufc-champ-anderson-silva.mma

And Brock got completely dominated by Velazquez. Had Brock lost to anyone in controversial circumstances then i'm 99.9% positive that he would get an instant rematch.

However one of the main reasons i am giving Cyborg the rematch is due to the lack of depth in the division. Erin Toughill was next in line but it was a controversial stoppage according to the play-by-play so i think it makes sense, not to mention the fact that she is the biggest draw in the division, besides Gina Carano.

<img src=http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/3379/alistairovereem.gif> <img src=http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1858/fabriciowerdum.gif>

(34-11) Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1)

After surviving an early onslaught, Fabricio Werdum went on to shock the world by submitting the legendary Fedor Emelianenko. Now Werdum gets an opportunity to shock the world again when he takes on Alistair Overeem, who has seen a resurgence in his career since losing to Sergei Kharitonov in 2007 by going undefeated in his last 10 fights as well as winning world title's in Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1.

However despite the dominant nature of his recent performances, Alistair Overeem is desperate to avenge a 2006 submission loss to Werdum and with many considering this Overeem's first top-10 opponent since his days in PRIDE, a win here could erase any doubts about who is the number one heavyweight in the world.

(18-6) Robbie Lawler vs. Tim Kennedy (12-3)

Following a stunning knockout of veteran Matt Lindland at 'Strikeforce: St. Louis', Robbie Lawler is on the cusp of a title shot at 185-pounds but with 'Mayhem' Miller, the last man to defeat Lawler at middleweight, next in line, Lawler has to settle for a potential number one contender bout against former U.S. Special Forces Sniper, Tim Kennedy, who is coming off a close decision loss to middleweight champion 'Jacare' Souza in his last outing.

Kennedy, who many felt was unlucky to come up short on the judges scorecards against 'Jacare', will no doubt force his way back into title contention if he can defeat the hard-hitting Lawler.

(10-8) Sokoudjou vs. Kevin Randleman (17-15)

In an interesting light heavyweight contest, former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman takes on Judo black belt Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in a must-win fight for both men.

Randleman, who is currently 0-2 in his Strikeforce career so far, has lost 8 of his last 10 fights and at the age of 39 years old a defeat at the hands of Sokoudjou could spell the end of his illustrious career, where as a win for Sokoudjou could kick-start the career of the talented African fighter.

(36-9) Renato Sobral vs. Mike Kyle (18-8-1)

Following vicious losses to Dan Henderson and Antonio Silva respectively, Renato 'Babalu' Sobral and Mike 'MAC' Kyle will both be looking to get back into the win column when they collide, with both men having aspirations to move into title contention.

Kyle, who has suffered 8 defeats in his career, all as a heavyweight, will be looking to maintain his undefeated run at 205-pounds as he looks to prove to Strikeforce that he is the number one contender in the light heavyweight division.

<img src=http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3268/bobbylashley.gif> <img src=http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/217/brandoncash.gif>

(5-1) Bobby Lashley vs. Brandon Cash (5-3)

After following in Brock Lesnar's footsteps to pursue a career in mixed martial arts, Bobby Lashley went 4-0 before being signed by Strikeforce, where he made quick work of former UFC fighter Wes Sims in his promotional debut, however a step up in competition saw the Lashley hype-train derailed by Chad Griggs. Now Lashley will be looking to prove he is still a future contender when he returns to the cage against hard-hitting Brandon Cash.

Cash, who is perhaps most well-known for falling just short of upsetting top heavyweight prospect Shane del Rosario, is currently going through a 3 fight losing streak, despite a solid 5-0 start to his MMA career, and a defeat to Lashley could spell the end of his Strikeforce career but a win over the former WWE superstar could very well reinvigorate his career.

<img src=http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/3379/alistairovereem.gif> <img src=http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/1858/fabriciowerdum.gif>

STRIKEFORCE: OVEREEM vs. WERDUM 2

Mauro Ranallo - Hello and welcome to the Shark Tank here in San Jose, California, I'm Mauro Ranallo, thank you for joining us live on Showtime as Strikeforce presents another star-studded night of mixed martial arts as one of the most dangerous striker in MMA, Alistair Overeem defends the Strikeforce heavyweight championship against one of the most dangerous grapplers in MMA, Fabricio Werdum!

And joining me for tonight's broadcast is the first ever UFC light heavyweight champion, Frank Shamrock, and Frank back in 2006 Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum fought in the opening round of the PRIDE openweight grand prix and after weathering the early storm, Werdum went on to submit a gassed Alistair Overeem in the second round. Now 5 years on, how do you feel bout fighters have evolved since that fight?

Frank Shamrock - Well Werdum is still as dangerous on the ground today as he has always been Mauro, but his striking has improved dramatically over the years, however i don't think he'll want to test it out tonight against an elite striker like Overeem, so Werdum's best bet i believe is to test the cardio of the champion. Overeem has had problems in the past with his gas tank and if Werdum can take this fight into the championship rounds then he will have a very good chance of winning tonight.

Mauro Ranallo - Alright well also joining us tonight is 'The Croatian Sensation' Pat Miletich, and tonight Pat a man you know very well, 'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler takes on a true American hero, Tim Kennedy in a bout that could put the winner within touching distance of a title shot at Strikeforce middleweight champion, Ronaldo 'Jacare' Souza.

Pat Miletich - Yeah Mauro i think this is a very intriguing contest, in many ways it's an old school striker vs. grappler match-up as obviously Robbie will not want to go to the ground and there's no way that Kennedy wants to stand with Lawler tonight so this fight is really going to depend on who can implement there gameplan first but i'm obviously siding with Robbie in this one.

Mauro Ranallo - Alright well those are the two headline fights tonight but also featured on the card will be talented Judokan Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. the MMA veteran and former UFC heavyweight champion, Kevin Randleman. Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Renato 'Babalu' Sobral vs. the hard-hitting Mike 'MAC Kyle. And in the opening bout of the evening, former professional wrestler turned mixed martial artist, Bobby Lashley makes his return to the cage after a setback in his last fight as he takes on the always tough Brandon Cash.

And it's now time to go inside the cage for the official introductions with Jimmy Lennon, Jr.

(5-1) Bobby Lashley vs. Brandon Cash (5-3)

ROUND 1

Here we go as round number 1 begins and it's Cash that lands first but it doesn't take long for Lashley to shoot for the first takedown of the fight but he can't complete it as Cash looks to feint Lashley into committing on the feet but he's not getting drawn in as he does a good job of staying out of the striking game before coming in for another takedown attempt but once again it's unsuccessful as Cash comes forward with a nice combination, but Lashley takes it well and he continues to keep his guard high as Cash comes in with yet another combination which lands just as the round ends

ROUND 2

Round 2 begins with Lashley coming forward looking to strike but he's clearly out of his element as a poorly executed jab is countered as Cash lands with a barrage of big rights which force Lashley back and the wrestler is clearly hurt and his opponent smells blood as he quickly pounces to rain down blows on the helpless Lashley and he leaves the referee little choice but to step in and stop the fight.

(36-9) Renato Sobral vs. Mike Kyle (18-8-1)

ROUND 1

The fight begins as neither lands with there initial strikes of the fight so Babalu goes for the takedown instead and Kyle has to pull guard. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt easily gets to side control. Sobral drives forward with a big knee to the ribs then manages to roll Kyle over to take his back and immediately Kyle senses a potential rear naked choke attempt so he works to defend against it but it only leaves Babalu an opening to pound away with strikes and Kyle struggles to deal with them as the referee calls a halt to the contest.

OFFICIAL DECISION

(10-8) Sokoudjou vs. Kevin Randleman (17-15)

ROUND 1

Round number 1 is underway as both fighters come toe-to-toe in the middle of the cage but neither land and Randleman is the first to back up, avoiding a jab from Sokoudjou before shooting for the takedown but Sokoudjou sprawls and forces Randleman into the turtle position which is not where he wants to be as Sokoudjou fires off countless power shots as the referee calls the bout after just 2 minutes, 45 seconds.

OFFICIAL DECISION

Jimmy Lennon, Jr. - Ladies and gentleman we have the time of 2:45 in round number 1, our referee in charge stops the contest due to strikes, he is the winner by way of technical knockout, 'THE AFRICAN ASSASSIN' SOKOUDJOU!

(18-6-1 NC) Robbie Lawler vs. Tim Kennedy (12-3)

ROUND 1

A major contender bout in the middleweight division gets underway with Lawler firing heavy leather almost immediately but Kennedy does well to slip out of harm's way before dropping the shoulder in order to get his opponent to open up but Lawler isn't buying it as he unloads with a barrage of big lefts but Kennedy again backs out of range before coming back inside looking to take the fight to the ground, which he does with a single leg and time slips away as Kennedy manages to keep Lawler on the ground before working to side control which he gets without much resistance as we head to the halfway mark. Lawler's lack of ground skills are coming back to haunt him as Kennedy forces him to give up his back then gets both hooks in before flattening his opponent out for the rear naked choke, and it's tight but Lawler refuses to tap as he gives everything he has in an attempt to escape but the choke is far too tight and it's not long before Lawler goes completely limp and the referee has jump in to save the unconscious fighter.

OFFICIAL DECISION

(34-11-1 NC) Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1)

ROUND 1

The main event of the evening gets underway as the K-1 world grand prix champion lands a nice right roundhouse kick to the ribs of his opponent then lands a nasty-looking kick to the inside of the left knee but Werdum does manage to avoid a huge follow-up right hook as he comes inside looking to grapple with Overeem but he's kept at bay with a snapping jab then a right cross but Werdum times the punch perfectly as he shoots under it and manages to plant Overeem on his back! The champion manages to scoot over to the cage, getting his back up against it as he looks to wall-walk back to his feet but before he can get back to his feet Werdum slaps on a guillotine but it looks like Overeem has room to breath as he seems to be relatively calm and finally Werdum lets it go, perhaps looking to keep his energy intact rather than forcing a guillotine which wasn't quite there, and he will have the rest period inbetween rounds to recover as the bell sounds.

ROUND 2

Round number 2 begins as Werdum is tricked into dropping his hands as Overeem feints then goes high with a head kick which only just misses the target. Overeem is moving around looking for openings but Werdum is doing a decent job of staying out of his way as another series of right hands miss and that seems to frustrate Overeem as he comes forward more aggressive than we have been used to and it allows Werdum to shoot with a double leg and Overeem once again cannot get out of the way in time and has to pull guard with over half the round remaining. Werdum tries to pass but he is kept in guard as Overeem looks for an ambitious triangle which wasn't the smartest thing to do as Werdum easily twists out of it and secures side control. An attempted pass to mount is blocked by the champion before he again looks for a submission with an arm-in guillotine but it's easily defended as Werdum slips to the mount position but with just 15 seconds left in the round it's to late to work from the dominant position.

ROUND 3

The bell sounds for round number 3 with several striking exchanges but neither land before Werdum looks to get his hands on Overeem and he manages to do so as he looks to take his opponent down from the clinch but Overeem defends against it before breaking free of the clinch completely. Overeem continues to stalk his opponent, forcing Werdum onto the back foot as he looks to throw a jab in order to regain some ground but it's a sloppy one and it allows Overeem to counter with a vicious right head kick and Werdum is knocked down! however he seems like he is aware of his surroundings but Overeem comes in and drops a huge bomb that lands flush on Werdum's chin and he is knocked completely unconscious!

OFFICIAL DECISION

Jimmy Lennon, Jr. - Ladies and gentleman we have the time of 3:32 in the third round, he is the winner by way of knockout, and still the Strikeforce world heavyweight champion, ALISTAIR OVEREEM!

Strikeforce Challengers 16: Del Rosario vs. Devine

STRIKEFORCE CHALLENGERS 16: DEL ROSARIO vs. DEVINE

Mauro Ranallo - Hello and welcome to another edition of the Strikeforce Challenger's series as Strikeforce and Showtime gives some of the brightest prospects in MMA the opportunity to showcase there skills live on national television.

Joining me for the 16th edition of the Strikeforce Challengers series is 'The Fight Professor' Stephen Quadros, and tonight Stephen one of the most promising fighters, not just in Strikeforce, but in the entire sport, Shane del Rosario makes, what could be his last appearance on the prospect-based Challenger series as an impressive win tonight could see him finally graduate onto a major show sometime in the future.

Stephen Quadros - I believe so Mauro. Shane has been on a tear lately, finishing all 10 of his previous opponents with just 1 of those fights going out of the first round, so if he can finish this fight in similar fashion then i definitely see him moving on to bigger and better things.

Mauro Ranallo - Also joining us here at cageside will be Pat Miletich, and Pat obviously all eyes will be on Del Rosario tonight but lets not completely disregard his opponent, John Devine who is a very tough guy.

Pat Miletich - Absolutely Mauro, it's always dangerous to look past your opponent, no matter who it is and Devine is a well-rounded guy. He's a two-time Pac-10 All-American wrestler so the guy does have some skills that could pose a problem for Del Rosario tonight.

Mauro Ranallo - Alright well it's now time for our first bout of the evening featuring David 'Tarzan' Douglas and Thomas Diagne with official introductions from cage announcer Danny Miller.

----------------------------------------------------------

(5-2) David Douglas vs. Thomas Diagne (1-2)

ROUND 1

Here we go with round number 1 as Douglas feints stepping in but Diagne still manages to land with a picture-perfect roundhouse kick to the ribs. Douglas decides to come into the pocket and lands a nice left hook to the body which forces Diagne to shoot for a double leg but Douglas sprawls and Diagne is forced down into the turtle position where he has to take countless big shots to the side of the head and body but eventually he does get back to his feet. With just a minute left in the round Diagne has to get out of the way of a barrage of big strikes before perfectly timing a takedown which puts Douglas on his back as the round ends.

ROUND 2

Bell sounds for round number 2 with Diagne landing a series of nice jabs before going for another takedown but it's defended as Douglas forces his opponent to turtle up as he again lands several big shots from the posistion before Diagne manages to get back to his feet. Douglas slams a nice right hand into the gloves of his opponent but Diagne shoots for the takedown, which is stuffed as the round comes to an end.

ROUND 3

Round 3 begins with Douglas landing with a nice jab then backs off to avoid a kick from his opponent before looking to counter with a left hook but it misses, allowing Diagne to counter with several hard rights and Douglas is on wobbly legs as he stumbles backwards! Diagne senses victory and storms forwards with a barrage of big rights, but Douglas seems to cover up just in time then fires off a clean jab as it looks like he has recovered. Douglas lands some nice counter strikes before the clock runs down, signalling the end of the fight.

Carmouche has to defend against a triangle attempt before attempting to pass but Vera does well to keep her in guard. The exact same sequence of events play out again before the round comes to an end.

ROUND 2

Round 2 begins with Vera landing a sharp kick to the body which forces Carmouche into a takedown attempt, but Vera defends however she has to eat an excellent combination from her opponent but Vera fires back with a spinning back fist, which excites the fans but doesn't do her much good as Carmouche avoids it then powers in with a strong double leg which puts Vera on her back! Vera gets her back up against the cage, looking to stand but it gives Carmouche the opportunity to land several big shots, however they don't trouble Vera so instead Carmouche decides to ride out the remainder of the round by controlling her opponent up against the cage.

ROUND 3

Round 3 begins with an immediate takedown attempt from Carmouche but it's stuffed as they clinch. Carmouche looks to back Vera up against the cage but her opponent proves to be the stronger in the clinch as Vera forces Carmouche back against the cage but she immediately breaks away looking to strike, and she lands a nice jab but Carmouche fires back with a nice combination as we head to the mid-way point of the round. Vera shows good head movement to avoid a flurry of quick strikes then fires off a big right hand, which slams into the gloves of her opponent before a striking exchange results in both fighters falling into the clinch which Carmouche manages to take control of as she gets double underhooks but a takedown attempt is avoided by Vera as the fight ends.

Bowling comes inside to again look for the single leg takedown but Moore is too quick to step away however he does clinch with Bowling then overpowers him to put him against the cage as we move to the second half of the round. A knee to the inside of the thigh then a nasty foot stoop lands from Moore. Another knee lands on the thigh of his opponent but Bowling does manage to switch it around so that Moore is the one up against the cage. Bowling gets underhooks and looks to get the takedown but he still can't get it as Moore circles away from the clinch. Another takedown attempt from Bowling is blocked as the round comes to an end.
