My concern there (and overall), is that folks then might not use the actor (e.g., calling dibs and not putting out a movie during that day). This has two consequences: 1) it prevented someone else from using the actor and 2) should require some sort of penalty applied to the studio (you put NPH into a contract and didn't give him a movie, so you lose funds), which would require more work on the mods part.</p>

I tend not to fully think through films before typing them up, which nearly lead to the cancelation of "The Infected" and means I have a half typed up film where I can't find a justifiable explanation for the ending <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Alright clarifications...hopefully:

I'm not including the "hyping" that Chris suggested...yet. I think it's a great idea and I will use it just not yet... For now we are going with the simple first movie up gets the actor. If you are in the middle of posting your movie when someone else posts with the same actor then you have to switch out simple as that.

As for the different Tiers for movie parts, I was actually thinking the same thing, just didn't give myself enough time to implament it. So for now everything stays the same. I will probably do the same thing today that I did yesterday and cut off posting at a certain time so I can add more things to the game, this will be one of them.

I am in Eastern Standard Time Zone so that will be the determination for "days". What I'm going to try and do at least for now is what I did today stop the day at a certain time for updates and admin stuff then start it on my own accord. I realize that might make for different start times on different days, but it's hollywood you should expect things like that =)

I will put the new list of actors in now give me a few minutes and the main post will be updated... In the meantime... Sorry Effect I must have overlooked your movie all together.

Astil if you're still around do you mind reviewing his movie while I get all these other names and such up... Hope I clarified things if not, just tell me to try again =)

Some minor suggestions:

Disconnect revenue & ratings a bit more: So, I crunched the numbers and the correlation between revenue and ratings is 0.83 (which is quite high, given that there have already been around 30 movies reviewed). While I think that there obviously should be some relationship, I'm not sure it should be that strong.

For example, if we take the two 5 star movies (The Ruin and The Infected). Award wise, we'd expect the Ruin to do better at the academy awards (in terms of style of movie and actors), but at the box office, you'd think that the Infected (even after accounting for the difference in budget between the two films) would do significantly better.

In general, I'd suggest some sort of additional budget bonus for blockbuster movies and a corresponding ratings deduction (thereby making a highly rated and earning movie very unlikely).

I wanted to comment on this separately because it's a great point. I can honestly say I didn't realize the correlation between revenue and star was so high. Don't get me wrong I fully intended a 5 star movie to do better than a .5 star movie in the box office (Sorry Derek), but not to that extent. I think you're right just because the movie is put together well, doesn't mean that it's going to have the same success in the box office. I'm going to look into this more and see if I can level it out a bit so to speak, thanks for the insight.

Since no one has posted yet I'm going to add one more curve ball. For your expenses along with cast cost and production cost I'm going to add another cost for Promotion of the movie. This is where you tell us how much money your going to dump into hyping your film. Use to little and your blockbuster smash goes unseen by most. Add to much and you essentially make people sick of your movie before they even see it.

Yes. I was going to suggest this. In my head a large amount of my budget for 'The Infected' was promotion.

But could you give a general guideline for approximately how much we should spend on marketing, along the lines of:

Promotion budget<$x = Small Scale

$x<Promotion Budget<$x = Medium Scale

>$x = Large Scale

I just don't want to post my next film and find out I have done minimal advertising due to not spending enough. Just something similar to what you did for Total budget determing the size of film before.

All Cast & Crew Figures include my 'discount' for being #1.

It was difficult to cast one of the actors as supporting, as both play a large role in the film. But if having two leads is against the rules please consider Bale the support.

Studio - Ascending Numbers Production

Pre-Filming Bank Balance - $12.9 Million

Title - Deserted

Lead Actor - Eric Bana ($25'000) & Christian Bale ($37'500)

Lead Actress - Amy Adams ($25'000)

Supporting Actor - N/A

Supporting Actress - N/A

Director - Christopher Nolan ($100,000)

Genre - Thriller

Plot - The opening scenes show Bobby & Maria Robinson (Eric Bana & Amy Adams) arriving in Hawaii, having travelled to celebrate their anniversarry. After a few minutes of short clips showing the couple doing typical touristy activities, Bobby suprises Maria by revealing that they have a small private island booked for the week.

The pair are transported to the island by boat, and given a brief tour of the island (which is of moderate size, containing a beach, and a forest type area, containing a small hut for the couple to stay in). The boat then leaves. The couple spend the rest of the day together on the beach, despite Maria believing that they are being watched.

In the morning they are woken up by banging on the door, which is opened to reveal a man named Micah (Christian Bale), who claims that he had swam out to a small island close to this one, but it was swept under water. The couple reluctantly allow him to stay, until he can arrange transport off the island.

Soon after, the couple recieve a message that a murder occured on a near by island, and the couple suspect Micah of the killing. However before they can alert anyone that Micah just arrived on their island their phone connection dies. The couple suspect Micah cut the phone line, but decide not to confront him on this, as he could be dangerous.

They talk to Micah, and find out more about him, and come to the conclusion that he is not a murderer. However suspicions arise again when he retreats into the forrest at the sight of a police helicopter. When Bobby tries to attract its attention he is attacked by Micah and dragged into the forrest where they cannot be seen, and a fight commences between them. Micah ends up on the losing end of the fight, but manages to flee.

The next day when the couple try to attract the attention of boats that go by, they are again attacked by Micah. Things turn deadly when the fight descends into the forrest, and Micah uses the environment to provide the ability to perform sneak attacks, and quickly reveals a knife. However Maria is able to pose a distraction, allowing Bobby to get the upper-hand & possession of the knife. He proceeds to stab Micah, however at that moment police arrive on the island, having seen from a distance the fight starting, see what is happening, and arrest Bobby & Maria, assuming they are the killers. The film ends with a shot of Micah being worked on by the paramedics...showing a slight hint of life, when his eyes suddenly jar open.

The film is a real slow burner, building up large amounts of tension & suspense, first on the question of whether Micah is the killer, and secondly with the question of who will leave the island alive.

Location - Hawaii

Budget - $1'50'000 ($187'500 Cast & Crew + $562'500 Production + $750'000 Promotion)

Duration - 1 Hour 48 Minutes (108 Mins)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Completely guessed what a good promotion budget would be, I guess I will find out soon enough.

And a few questions:

-Are we in the same boat with directors as actors (I.E Directors can only direct one film a day?)

-Are we doing any awards this week?

Regarding cutting off submissions, I would make that a set time daily. For example, you could just say that submissions are only accepted between 10am and 10pm EST each day.

I'd second this.

Completely agree.

Looking for a quote on Katee Sackhoff (actress) and then I should be good to go for my next film :)

I'm sorry I have to ask, what age characters are you having them play? Because going off real life ages we have:

The mother (42) & her three children (30, 25, 23).

Seems a bit inappropriately aged (gave birth at 12, 17 & 19). :p
