In regards to the WCW situation, I am thinking about just deleting WCW from the database and changing the name at the right time. Yes that means Ted will not take over but it avoids the whole JCP/WCW stuff.

And if I were to do this I would get rid of the narratives related to the subject as well.

Just downloaded the updated version... I think :)

Does the updated version still show as version 1.0 in the database or did I do something wrong?

Sorry yeah it does, my bad on that one :o

Easy way to check it look at the Era's in the editor, I've deleted the New Generation Era for V1.1 :)

This is basicaly what i did. But i also moved WCWs product settings over to JCPs when i changed it all, i did keep the orignal JCP popularity/prestige/money tho. Just makes more sense to me to have 1 company with a bunch of Narratives that just tell you to go edit the name if you want to do so... having 2 companys just dosnt reflect well at all in the game.

Dosnt bother me if Genadi does or dosnt adopt my aproach because ill keep editing it back how i like it for my personal games.

PS: I made Ted turner debut a few years earlier, put him on the JCP roster and set JCP to be owned by his media company, set him to personality and just forgot about him, thats just for later.

There are too many "what if" factors imo to not add WCW as a seperate promotion, which in all reality they were. When Turner took over it was far more than just a name change. He got behind the company with one of the worlds biggest checkbooks and changed the product considerably. That's a few of the biggest things he did, the list does goes on. In short I think Turner/WCW and Crockett/JCP were very

different promotions (yes I know very well the history) and needed to be represented as such.

It's something I thought about and discussed quite a bit with early testers. The ideal scenario would be WCW opening and buying out JCP which is as close to reality as the game can sim. However one major factor I think has been forgotten in this discussion is the earlier mentioned "what if" factor. Especially if someone is playing as JCP, and especially if they're playing as an owner. There were so many things that added to JCP's downfall and Turner's eventual entry into the industry. The only narratives I tried to add were the ones that were inevitable at that point. Crockett had been spending up stupidly while the company wasn't really making money (as mentioned in their narrative) already by '87 so I included it. Had the mod started a year or two earlier I'm not sure I would've added WCW the way that I did. I tried to take every scenario possible into consideration and use March '87 as a starting point. It's well known how competitive Ted Turner was/is and that he had a soft spot for wrestling. It's also well documented how aggressive he was in regards to media expansion during that time. I think chances are he would've entered the business to some extent whether JCP went under or not.

Sorry for that long winded explanation but I want to give as much insight as I can on why I made certain decisions with the mod. As always though if better points are raised and better results seen via testing I'll make the change :)

Two small things that people may want to fix before starting a new game

Dirty White Girl is still set as a male

Ricky Steamboat's 1987 narrative is still set to trigger in 2007.

Just two very minor things I have noticed with the new update that have not been fixed from the original, sorry if you're already aware of them.

I love the feeling I get when I raid other companies as WWF. JCP is screwed for the foreseeable future. Road Warriors and Ellering coming up north to dominate my tag scene for the next year along with AA, Tully, and Windham. Stupid loyalty kept flair in JCP but DiBiase will take up that role in my horsemen.

Here's to hoping I can also grow a young Sting, Hennig, HBK, and Gilbert into future stars for the new era of the early 90s.

I'm struggling to have any gimmick ratings debut over 66. I'm playing the updated version and only have experience using WWF. I'm filtering to exclude gimmicks that don't suit the worker and make sure they are appropriate for face and heel workers. It usually falls to 66, never more, but sometimes less. This has happened on approximately 20 debuting workers. I vaguely remember something about this with real world mods happening in the past, but I usually don't play anything but the default database.

Is this happening with other people? I wouldn't consider myself a novice at tew so I'm just sort of at a loss and hoping for some input. Thanks guys.

Have you looked at the gimmick performance skills at the bottom of the Skills profile? That would give you a further clue of which particular gimmick types that they're stronger with. Momentum, gimmick risk, and difficulty will still come into play, but if you find that they're better with Wholesome or Cool or whatever gimmicks, trying to stick to those would increase you chances of a higher score.

On second thought, even though JCP became WCW in real life, this isn't about real life. I like the What If scenario of Crockett telling Turner to stick it and Turner starting WCW in response. Likely, Crockett would've either gone out of business or been forced to a new network but I do like the possibilities of both still being available.

Thanks Genadi for keeping that point out there even if I was a bit dense to realize it. :-)
