TEW Magazine: Interview With An Owner

Recommended Posts

Not entirely sure if anything like this has been attempted before. I guess it's closest ally would be something like the diary preview thread, except, this is for diaries that have already been started. A diary hype thread would be more accurate I suppose.

Here is what I propose. I would like to conduct interviews with you sexy diary writers, but I want to keep it totally kayfabe. So, the interview would be conducted by me (Mild Mannered reporter for the TEW Times,) and you would answer the questions in the guise of either the owner or I guess head booker of your promotion. I'll do all the hard work, writing up the interview (Which could be conducted via PM's or maybe Yahoo Messenger?) and pimping your diary etc. All you have to do is answer the questions!

Once the interview is written, I'll send you a transcript for your approval. You are then free to post the interview in your diary as long as you allow me to post it in this thread.

Perhaps also, people could drop me a PM when they have posted a big show/PPV that they want to be hyped outside the confines of their own diary. I could provide a brief outline of the show and a link to it in your diary.

I guess what I'm trying to achieve is a bit of a central hub in which to promote diaries that might get overlooked or not given a chance or just don't get the amount of viewers they deserve. This is open to any diary, be it C-Verse, Real world, current, old school, whatever. Oh, and I'll also accept any submissions from anybody else!

So, if you want to be the first Owner/Booker interviewed, either send me a PM, or respond to this post.

Thankyou!

<p>Awesome Idea... But, I'm sure would take ALOT of work on your part... As Im sure everyone would like to be interviewed and you'd be the only one interviewing... Unless you got a team together... </p><p> </p><p>

Good luck with this, because if you can pull this off, this could be huge bonus to the boards in my mind</p>

Back in TEW07 days we had the "In This Corner..." series, which was similar to what you've got laid out here. It's a good way to enrich the overall diary experience, and it's a good vehicle for newer writers who are trying to build up a following. Happy to see someone pick up the idea and put some time into it.

Wow, so fair to say there's interest in the idea? I'm sure there will be a fair amount of work, work I am more than happy to do, but I'll be keeping it fairly low maintenance to begin with. If there is demand to expand once it is established then so be it!

As this is going to be community driven, any suggestions would be more than welcome. Aside from interviews and show hype, I was thinking of doing something along the lines of "Booker T's Top Five" Highlighting five workers either from the same promotion or from around the diaries. Would that be a feature people would read?

Thanks for the heads up WallBanger, I'll certainly be checking out the 'In this corner' series.

If I do this, and people think it is worthwhile, then it will obviously impact on the time I have to write my own diary, but I guess it only really has a small dedicated following! Anyway, I'll concentrate on getting a beta version of this going over the next couple days, as I already have a willing volunteer, and we'll see how it goes.

Not going to lie, I think this is a fantastic idea for the boards and what you have just suggested sounds like a great addition as well. Hopefully this thread really takes off as I'm sure it will and the community can gain a central platform from which to showcase the great work on offer.

I'm always up for this- quite apart from anything else, it can be used as a good way to boost the profile of some of the more minor dynasties on here. Plus, it'd be interesting to hear the booking agendas of some of the characters on the board- for example, we hear a lot about Jerilynn's problems with the old NOTBPW, but comparatively little about her own booking philosophy.

That would actually be a fun talk to have. I'd be up for it if someone wants to draft the questions.

A huge thanks to everybody who has commented and offered their support, and for everybody who has PM'ed me too! Really excited to do this, hope it lives up to all the hype!

1PWfan...would you be interested in drafting some questions for WallBanger?

I've conducted my first interview, and have it in a form that I think is pretty good, (but I'd like to confer with my interviewee before I post it!)

You know, stop him from crossing the line like when he attempted to fire Ricky Dale Johnson back in February; not coincidently, the same night I made my TCW television debut. It is no secret that Tommy Cornell plays an important role in TCW and whilst his power has not been entirely revoked, it has been reduced significantly.</div></div><div id=""></div></div></div><div style="clear: both; position: relative; padding: 5px; margin: 5px 0pt; height: auto; border: 1px solid transparent;"> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; display: block;"><div id=""><em id="">From the tone in Tylers voice and the look in his eyes, it soon becomes clear that there is no love lost between Tommy and himself, yet somehow, he still begrudgingly admires his accomplishments.</em></div></div> </div><div style="position: relative;"><img style="float: left;" src="http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx252/LoNdOn_BeAsT/EricTylerALT.jpg" alt="Speaker" height="113px" width="113px"><img style="position: absolute; left: 103px; top: 50px;" src="http://fictionplus.interwebz.co.nz/images/layout/sbpointer/sb-pointer-ffffff-l.png" height="20px" width="22px"><div style="font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; position: relative; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255); margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 123px; padding: 7px; border-radius: 7px 7px 7px 7px; width: 540px; top: 0px;"><div style="" id=""><div id="">I don’t like the way Cornell goes about his business but I respect his work inside the ring. I think there are two big changes that have been brought around in no small part thanks to me. Firstly the King Of Mayhem tournament that we held back in April to crown a number one contender for the TCW World Heavyweight title was my idea. I just like tournaments as a general rule in wrestling and I thought that with a challenger being determined for the biggest PPV of the year, Total Mayhem, it would spice up TCW as a whole, you know; garner a bit more interest. The other big change is the Golden Shot Gauntlet that will be debuting at Total Mayhem XV; twenty men in an over the top battle royal to see who will earn a guaranteed world title shot for whenever they want in the following year. A novel concept that if truth be told, RDJ suggested to me back in March. I took his initial idea, tweaked it where required and presented it to the board who gave it the go ahead and here we are.</div></div><div id=""></div></div></div><div style="clear: both; position: relative; padding: 5px; margin: 5px 0pt; height: auto; border: 1px solid transparent;"> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; display: block;"><div id=""><em id="">And here he is. Another, more ego-centric man would revel in such accomplishments, but Eric Tyler seems to be a man content to do the job he has been asked to do without the glory. It becomes clear that my failure to tie him down for an interview in the past has been because the man simply has too much on his plate, yet, like a modern day Oliver Twist, he always asks for more!</em></div></div> </div><div style="position: relative;"><img style="float: left;" src="http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx252/LoNdOn_BeAsT/EricTylerALT.jpg" alt="Speaker" height="113px" width="113px"><img style="position: absolute; left: 103px; top: 53px;" src="http://fictionplus.interwebz.co.nz/images/layout/sbpointer/sb-pointer-ffffff-l.png" height="20px" width="22px"><div style="font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; position: relative; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255); margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 123px; padding: 7px; border-radius: 7px 7px 7px 7px; width: 549px; top: 0px;"><div style="" id=""><div id="">One of the first things I wanted to improve upon is the depth of talent in the tag team and All-Action divisions. A little fact which I haven’t actually shared with the audience yet is that I have been given the power to hire new talent to the TCW roster and since the day I started this job I have been viewing tapes from workers all around the world. If they are good at what they do then believe me when I say that they are on my radar. I want to keep my finger on the pulse of professional wrestling and by looking for the stars of tomorrow today; I can ensure that TCW stays at the forefront of this industry.</div></div><div id=""></div></div></div><div style="clear: both; position: relative; padding: 5px; margin: 5px 0pt; height: auto; border: 1px solid transparent;"> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; display: block;"><div id=""><em id="">Wary of taking up too much of his time, I move the conversation on towards TCW's upcoming PPV Extravaganza, Total Mayhem XV, an event that has Tylers fingerprints all over it, and one he is all to happy to discuss.</em></div></div> </div><div style="position: relative;"><img style="float: left;" src="http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx252/LoNdOn_BeAsT/EricTylerALT.jpg" alt="Speaker" height="113px" width="113px"><img style="position: absolute; left: 103px; top: 53px;" src="http://fictionplus.interwebz.co.nz/images/layout/sbpointer/sb-pointer-ffffff-l.png" height="20px" width="22px"><div style="font-size: 16px; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; position: relative; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255); margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 123px; padding: 7px; border-radius: 7px 7px 7px 7px; width: 550px; top: 0px;"><div style="" id=""><div id="">In professional wrestling the biggest prize is and always will be the world heavyweight title. Whilst Total Mayhem will witness a ladder match, a relaxed rules match and the Golden Shot Gauntlet, you have to be excited for the main event. Rocky Golden will have a big test in front of him when he takes on Ricky Dale Johnson and the first King Of Mayhem, Joey Minnesota. RDJ and Minnesota do not get on and have probably the biggest feud going right now in TCW so I am excited to see the outcome with so many combustible elements involved. One of these men will cement their legacy in professional wrestling folklore and that is what this business is all about my friend.</div></div><div id=""></div></div></div><div style="clear: both; position: relative; padding: 5px; margin: 5px 0pt; height: auto; border: 1px solid transparent;"> <div style="font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; display: block;"><div id=""><em id="">Tyler really seems to shine when talking about the in ring action, no doubt due to his own stellar in ring career. So this is the kind of style I was thinking. The only problem with using Fictionplus (A totally brilliant App by the way, Thanks Crayon!) Is that I'm not sure if it's possible to post links in it, so I would have to provide links to your diaries in another post (Appendix?) like so!

Also, I'm thinking it might be a long read to post everything at once, so would people object if I posted it in segments like this? Gives you time to digest and allows individual diaries to have their time in the sun!

That was awesome... And Im a guy that doesnt really get into c-verse... Mark me down as another that like to participate as interviewer and interviewee''

Also, was pretty cool to see someone dig up The old "In this Corner" thread from 2007... I completely forgot about that, and now am really greatful to my wife, who has dealt with me on these forums for 4 years now :-)

Say my name and I shall appear!

It is possible to post links in it. You just need to highlight some text, and then click the Insert/Edit Link button (top right-hand side when editing text, second row right-hand side when editing dialog) which will allow you to paste a link into it.

Of course, you could most likely just paste the url into the editor and if all goes according to plan (I haven't tested it) the GDS forum will automatically convert it to a link. However! That will mean that you won't be able to use images for the background (as that requires turning off "automatically parse links in text" which does that feature)

EDIT: Oh, and as it stands, I enjoyed the interview and am all for you posting it in segments to allow everyone a chance in the spotlight (plus it will give you some breathing room). It's a great concept that acts as a bridge between all the separate diaries which is pretty fantastic

Sure- can't promise it'll be especially quick (I have a lot of work on at the moment in that blasted real life thing that keeps interfering in game time), but it shouldn't take that long. How do you want it done after that? Should I PM the questions to Wallbanger, then send his responses onto you (I haven't used fictionplus, so it'd be a bit beyond me)?

On behalf of Mr Tyler, I just wanted to inform everyone that he had a blast with the interview. He would have said this himself but as you all know, he is a busy man at present (Edd Stone is seemingly trying to teach Eddie Peak how to breakdance as I write this, when in actuality, Edd is just teasing the fun-loving giant into smashing various pieces of equipment ). Obviously Eric was not as amused as the young Canadian who was practically rolling on the floor when Peak nearly decapitated poor Jasmine Saunders with some sort of spinning kick botch. Jasmine ended up spilling her coffee down her nice white dress which only made Edd howl that much more!)

Apparently BoomKing's interview style proved popular in the offices of TCW. Furthermore, I have been instructed to say that Mr Tyler is more than willing to participate in further activities if the opportunity should ever arise. Eric hopes that his answers made for interesting reading.
