Heisei 24. 2nd Month. 17th day.

As recently as 2004, you could still gamble on the outcome of a professional wrestling match in Japan. Wrestling matches are still written about as authentic contests in the sports section of the national newspapers, and it is common to meet successful adults in Tokyo who speak confidently of which matches they perceive to be merely show and which ones were "too important" to be anything but "real." Although even in Japan the fixed nature of pro wrestling has been exposed many times over the years, among fans it still maintains a veneer of authenticity.

Japan is an ancient culture. The indigenous belief in Japan is known as Shinto. The basis of Shinto, in essence, is that the Sun Goddess Amataresu gave birth to the first Emperor of Japan, Emperor Jimmu whom is the ancient descendant of today's Emperor. Indeed the Imperial Japanese bloodline has never been broken. Despite the three Shogunates that came to power over the centuries from the Minamoto to the Ashikaga and finally the Tokugawa, and the brief civil conflict of the Imperial house during the tumultuous Northern/Southern Court conflict, today the Emperor whom reigns in Tokyo Imperial Palace is universally understood to be the descendant of Jimmu, the first Japanese Emperor born past 500 B.C.

It's a unique culture and among many of it's original traits is it's calender. While Japan has long since adopted the Gregorian calender, on many official documents and still widely circulated is the Imperial calender or the "era" calender. For centuries the Japanese calender existed and all time periods existed within various "era's." There used to be many different eras, sometimes eras would change within a few years but in the late 1800's when the great Meiji Emperor allied with the Daimyo and Samurai of Satsuma, Choshu and Tosa to overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate, since then Emperor Meiji made it Imperial decree that Eras would only change when the reign of an Emperor changed.

Today, February 17th, 2012 is Heisei 24.

When one walks across the streets of Kyoto one is literally walking over legendary, historic ground. It has even been said that when the Miyoshi clan lay siege to the Shogun Yoshi.teru Ashikaga's palace to assassinate him, the Shogun took dozens of ancient, prized and indeed legendary swords and one by one plunged the blades into the ground. As the Miyoshi army came forward, the Shogun proceeded to remove one blade after another and lay waste to dozens upon dozens of Miyoshi soldiers. One by one they fell and as the Shoguns blades broke, he would reach to another planted sword, remove it from the ground and continue to lay waste. The legendary final stand of 13th Ashikaga Shogun is symbolic of the tenacity and indeed the fighting spirit of the Japanese conscious. It would not be wrong to call that particular Shogun's final stand a legendary battle.

And yet tonight, the former capital of Japan, Kyoto, may see yet another legendary battle unfold upon it's hollowed grounds. Indeed the days of the Samurai are over however ask any proud Japanese person and they will tell you that Bushido lives on - and Bushido is the way of the Samurai, the way of the Warrior.

They call this event The Parade of Champions. The indigenous people of Japan, in their practice of Shinto are a culture full of parades, festivals and carnivals. This event is history in the making, a new chapter in a story that has been continuously in the making for several decades now.

In one corner is the uncrowned champion of the people, Haruki Kudo. A living legend whom you can still hear them talk about all the way out in Tokyo if the sake bar is in a particular part of town and the hour is right.

In the other, the recognized champion, Hiroyasu Gakusha, an electric, charismatic, cool mafioso type with long bleached blonde hair and a gutteral voice. Young and old alike love "Mr. Black" and his proficiency in the ring is inarguable.

This is certainly not the first time these two have met and truth be told it may not be the last. However, it just may be the most important match between two men who have made, and will go down in, history.

So perhaps there is no better city in the world to host this one. And after the night is over, another chapter will be written. They'll call it...

Parade of Champions, 2012.

Thanks for the kind words to Pennyone & Ockbald.

Thanks for the predictions!

I have been recording the card for the past little while. It's almost done. The actual card itself has been completed in-game and I was pretty pleased with the results. I just prefer to put up the results with the entire card recorded. I am pretty sure I will have the whole card results and the video up tomorrow morning and then will be moving forward with the story.

I spend sometime in the TEW Chat. If any of you are unaware, it is definitely still up and running and we do get a decent amount of visitors there. I actually got a few pointers on the dynasty writing and am going to look to implement some of the suggestions after I put up the card tomorrow.

I actually was looking at an old thread of mine... and I guess I'll put it up here. Wow, I can't believe this was almost 6 years ago!

Well, I read some of it myself and it had the wheels spinning in my head. I don't foresee Poruresu Monogatari being like that based on so many differences in styles, country, product, story etc. But hopefully Puroresu Monogatari will be fun and enjoyable. I'm not gonna lie though, reading some of the Jim Force stuff and other things got me feeling a bit nostalgic. I wonder if anybody has done two dynasties at the same time? LOL.

Anyway, thanks again for the comments and predictions and I will have the card up no doubt tomorrow morning. If you're reading this, hope you have a good night :)

As if I had a chance anyway, something like this comes along and completely dominates any and all DotM nominations for the rest of history. WE CAN WATCH THE MATCHES. We. Can watch. The matches. What the hell, man! That's awesome!

And what's the game, btw?

Looks like Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 or Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. Japanese versions of WCW/nWo World Tour and WWF Wrestlemania 2000.
