GAW - Nostalgia Deluxe 2013 [ThunderVerse]

Recommended Posts

Also: is this diary officially canon in the Thunderverse?

Oh god no! I've tried to work things mostly around so that things will line up with the ThunderVerse 2013 but only really in the loosest sense.

Obviously in the canon Robert Lee Stevens went in a different direction to the way Jack America books things and the canon definitely reflects that (although, as the resident 'GAW expert' jhd did let me have my way with GAW somewhat :D). However I am keeping quiet on what is different and what is the same, I don't want to ruin the surprise for the release ;)

GAW UPDATE

19/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

Well, as you can imagine, with a double length tour for the Festive Season far more went on in GAW that can comfortabley fit in one update so the November/December tour will be covered over the course of 5/6 blogs. So, here is the first:

********************

BEAUMONT P.I. & THE JEWEL OF SAN-CERNIA

http://imageshack.us/a/img13/9099/thomasbeaumontalt3.jpghttp://img407.imageshack.us/img407/3971/vitovercettialt.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img11/4463/vuduchief.jpg

With Machine USA found beaten down backstage The #1 Detective Agency investigate and first 'interogated' anti-Americans The United Nations in the ring but JAG, CHI & The Diplomat knew nothing about it.

Steamboat Hudson found by Ali Ababwa backstage beaten down
(Hudson worked one last appearance so he could be written out for the tour)
. He tells The #1 Detective Agency that Hudson managed to tell him the attacker wore black. The #1 Detective Agency invited Marshal Law to the ring to 'help them with their enquiries' but after a 'good cop, bad cop' interogation that saw Vito play bad cop, throwing all he could at Law and telling him that they were just doing Internal Affairs a favour while Beaumont P.I. played the good cop and spent most of his time in the ring applying holds and calmly asking questions while Law tried to break free. However eventually Law hit Vito with the Wrong Arm of the Law and won the match. As Beaumont checked on Vito the lights went out and when they came back on the Vudu Chief was stood over The #1 Detective Agency who were down and out.

On the Thanksgiving show, with The #1 Detective Agency out of action due to their injuries, Ababwa wanted to avenge his tag partner and challenged his old foe the Vudu Chief, but came up short when the Chief pulled out a voodoo doll and made Ababwa eliminate himself from the match by getting to the top turnbuckle and throwing himself to the outside, forcing the ref to count Ababwa out while medics checked on him!

On show four of the double-length tour Vudu Chief appeared in the ring in a cloud of smoke and delivered a creepy promo declaring none of the GAW roster safe from his voodoo powers. Vito, now recovered, came out to perform a 'citizen's arrest' for Vudu's 'crimes' but the match was over relatively quickly, Vito falling prey to the Chief's patented Brainbuster finisher. After the match both men disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

The fifth show saw Beaumont return and almost every segment on the big screen saw him interogating 'hoods' up until Vudu Chief appeared with Vito in the ring, the Chief declaring that Vito's soul was now his and there was nothing anyone could do about it! Beaumont ran to the ring but as the smoke cleared only Vito was left in the ring. The ring bell rang with no-one near it and Vito attacked Beaumont. The match consisted of Beaumont trying to fend off his friend & partner, not hurt Vito too much and try to talk him down before eventually grabbing a chair and knocking Vito out, before carrying his fallen partner to the back.

The sixth show saw shots of a foaming at the mouth Vito straped to a bed on the big screen before Beaumont was shown in a graveyard, talking to an old woman. After some mystic mumbo-jumbo she tells him he must find the Jewel of San-Cernia to break the curse... and one of the members of the GAW roster has it.

The show also saw Vudu Chief appear in the ring and issue an open challenge to any man on the roster. No one came out, and Vudu Chief declared that if no man would face him all would be cursed. After a tense minute and a visible struggle through the movement of the curtain Adam Hart flew through the curtain, looked back at the curtain, sighed, and went to his fate. It was over in less than a minute. However Vudu Chief declared Hart's soul unclean, the Chief only wants the souls of the pure of heart and disappeared in a cloud of smoke, leaving Adam Hart down and out in the ring.

On the seventh show Alligator Stu
(with his sister Vicki)
came out and told the crowd that Vudu Chief was in trouble now, because he'd given the game away. The Chief wants clean souls and Stu's is apparently
'dirtier than a drongo's stink pump'
so Stu wants him one on one! Vudu Chief appears on the stage
(again, smoke)
and delivers his usual voodoo chanting style promo before declaring that Stu's soul is pure enough and heading to the ring. A pretty good match followed but eventually, with the use of some 'magic powder', Vudu Chief won the match. Vicki jumped into the ring to try and save her big brother but Beaumont came in through the crowd and grabbed her before the Chief & Stu disappeared.

Later in the night we saw Beaumont & Vicki backstage, Beaumont trying to calm Vicki down. He hugs her, and they almost kiss, but then Beaumont sees her necklace, the Jewel of San-Cernia! Later again we see Vito, Beaumont & Vicki in the hospital, Vito much better, all three looking at the necklace dangling from Beaumont's hand.

On the Christmas Tour Finale show The #1 Detective Agency, with Vicki in tow, faced off against Vudu Chief and a zombified Alligator Stu. It was a pretty good match from all involved, Stu played a zombie well (well he has played pretty much every character under the sun!) but ultimately Beaumont unleashed the Power of San-Cernia
(making all the buildings lights flicker different colours)
, leaving the Vudu Chief a man of normal powers, and, with Stu now no longer a zombie, The #1 Detective Agency made short work of the Chief and won the match. After the match they cuffed Vudu Chief, Beaumont called in the waiting 'police', grabbed a mic and declared,
'Take him away, boys!'
. Beaumont, Vito, Vicki and Stu all walked through the open curtain then turned back to the crowd. Beaumont grabbing Vicki firmly by the waist, grinned cheesily at the crowd & planted a big smoochy kick on her lips! All four of them laughed and then froze in place before the curtains closed. The big screen continued to show the freeze and then frames of various scenes from the 'episode' as Beaumont's music played and some bogus credits rolled.

GAW UPDATE

20/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

A cheeky double helping of GAW action this evening

*****************

LOTHARIO VS SANTANA - THE NEXT GENERATION

http://imageshack.us/a/img5/5092/ericlothario.jpghttp://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9969/richiesantanajr.jpg

As I'm sure many people noticed, 2012 was a year which saw the 'rebooting' of many movie franchises with huge success. So GAW booker Jack America decided to do the same in Golden Age Wrestling with Eric Lothario and Richie Santana Jr!

Over the course of the two month tour the second generation wrestlers recreated many of the angles and, indeed, match spots, made famous by their fathers
(including the infamous 'You did WHAT to a turkey?!' angle on the Thanksgiving Show)
and they capped it all off by delivering an awesome match on the Christmas Tour Finale Show, before shaking hands and hugging at the end.

Talking to Wrestling in Review the pair said that they were very happy with the reception the GAW New England crowd gave them. Apparently both their fathers were in the crowd incognito for the Christmas Show and joined the GAW roster for the after-party, both men apparently gushing about their sons' performances. They also let slip that the New Year would see the pair, having 'settled their differences' team up to join the Tag Division.

http://imageshack.us/a/img546/5173/gawbanner.jpg

TAG TEAM TURMOIL

http://imageshack.us/a/img528/251/gawtagteam.jpg

With new champions crowned at the end of the September tour no-one could have expected what happened during the Festive Season Tour!

On show one the Eastside Wrecking Crew shockingly lost the titles to The Flying Bullets

On show two the UN beat The Bullets for the titles

On the Thanksgiving Show Machine USA won the titles, bringing them back to the good ole US of A

On the fourth show The Bootleggers beat Machine USA

On the fifth Meunecker & Kendall took the titles

On the sixth show legends Holland & Daniels won the titles by blatently cheating to win

On the seventh The Street Survivors beat Holland & Daniels for the tag straps

And on the Christmas Season Finale Tour in a really good match The Devastators made their GAW return to defeat The Street Survivors and end the tour as the GAW Tag Team Champions!

When asked about the title changes over the two months Jack America told Wrestling in Review that he had decided he wanted to
'...give every fan the thrill of a title change over the Christmas period and, well, the majority of the GAW audience are families who see a poster or a flyer and come for the entertainment, they don't know that last week someone else held the title. For them, they just get the drama of a title change. Obviously, when GAW work a usual tour they use the same venue all month, but on a roaming tour it's fresh faces most nights so it's not a problem.'

Of course, whether Jack America is right or not remains to be seen. However it was confirmed by the men themselves that The Devastators only agreed to come back and end the whole mess on the assurance that it wouldn't happen again and that they would get a decent run with the titles. And anything that means The Devastators are holding your tag titles for the foreseeable future can only be a good thing!

That Tag Team rapid fire title change storyline is genius! And a great way to satisfy worker's want of a title run.

Cheers! Yeah, kinda transparent that one, Cousin Floyd, Lukas Meunecker, FJ Kendall, Duane Davies & (surprisingly a dealbreaker for a recent contract resigning) Jose Angel Garces all had unfulfilled midcard runs on their contracts, so that's that sorted :D

GAW UPDATE

21/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

BEST OF SEVEN AND A TEARFUL FAREWELL

http://imageshack.us/a/img213/7107/dirkrobertsonalt.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img818/8329/mrhawaii.jpg

After Dirk introduced his new 'lurve thang' Jamie Vann he went on to talk about how easily he beat former champ Dwaine Kai at the end of September but Kai interrupted the promo and ran down Robertson, telling him that a man who needs someone to cheat for them doesn't deserve a title and cashed in his rebound match there and then. However the pair fought to a stand-still and the match timed out to a draw.

The rest of the tour saw Robertson & Kai wrestle a Best of Seven series and with the score tied at three each Kai declared that if he didn't win the title at the Christmas Tour Finale show he would leave GAW. The match was a very good effort that saw Robertson play it straight at first and try to beat Kai clean, before getting Jamie Vann involved, using the ropes for leverage and finally resorting to removing a turnbuckle pad while Jamie distracted the ref and ramming Kai's head into it to get the win!

After the match Kai delivered a heart-felt promo about his year in GAW, the great fans of Golden Age Wrestling and the wonderful people he'd met over the year. He thanked Alligator Stu for his friendship, teachings and partnership over the year, as well as Gordon Watts and the whole of the GAW management team for giving him the chance to work with some of the businesses greatest ever wrestlers. Dwaine Kai walked to the back to a standing ovation from the crowd with tears in his eyes.

Talking exclusively to Wrestling in Review, Dwaine Kai said that his year working with the legends and up & coming stars in GAW truly had been one of the best experiences of his career but now he'd shown skills all around the country he felt it was time to spread his wings, get back out on the circuit and hopefully move on to bigger things.

GAW UPDATE

22/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

SHAY KINSELLA HOLDS THE GOLD

http://imageshack.us/a/img706/6753/shaykinsella.jpg

In November GAW World Heavyweight Champion Shay Kinsella had an entertaining feud with Alligator Stu which saw GAW's first ever Intergender Tag Match on the Thanksgiving Show! Kinsella & Angelique vs Alligator Stu & Vicki went down really well and was won by Angelique pinning Vicki
(the women actually got a pretty good response from the crowd here)
. However on the final show of November Kinsella pinned Alligator Stu clean to retain the title.

In December Shay Kinsella offered a month long open challenge to anyone, anywhere in the world, to face him for the GAW World Heavyweight Championship.

On the first show of December Kinsella faced of against reknowned Japanese legend & CWT veteran Kabuki Takao, but Kinsella was saved by HOSS.

On the second December show Kinsella faced off against Mexican former WWWE wrestler Forzudo but made short work of the luchador in their curtain-jerker match.

On December's third show Kinella defended his title against Puerto Rican Cordero Calderon. Calderon came close to beating Kinsella but ultimately fell prey to the Urbana Native and Kinsella retained.

But on the Christmas Show there was a surprise in store for Kinsella in the shape of former PWI rostermate, Englishman & the son of a Legend, Nick Hart. Although it was billed in the semi-main event slot the pair stole the show and was judged by Wrestling in Review to have been hands down the best match to come out of GAW all year
(rated a high level B+)
, with Hart & Kinsella reversing each others' various finishers before Kinsella drilled Hart with an Urbana Native for the win.

It was universally agreed by those in the industry that Shay Kinsella as the GAW World Heavyweight Champion going into 2013 is a gift horse for sure, and Jack America in his interview with Wrestling in Review certainly agreed, saying that, in his opinion,
'...although GAW hasn't been the same without Rudy Single these last two months, Kinsella really has risen to the challenge and who knows what the New Year may bring!'

GAW UPDATE

23/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

FORMER GAW WRESTLERS COMPETE FOR A SPOT ON THE NEXT TOUR

http://imageshack.us/a/img843/5901/gawe.jpg

On the Christmas Tour Finale Show the first of two surprises was the announcement at the start of the show that the first match of the night would be an over-the-top-rope Battle Royale featuring almost every wrestler that has competed for GAW in the last year not currently on the roster! The winner would be guaranteed a spot on the first tour of 2013.

Billy Ray, Lee Earl, 'Dr Texas' Terry Rapada, Crash, Burn, Leroy Winters, Nytro, Tundra, Eviscerator, The Magnificent Mountie, Count Lugosi, 'Zombie' Prophet, Ashmedi, Mammon, X, Neurosis, RiOT, Spike Daryl, Steamboat Hudson and a shocking twentieth entrant, Jack Bodydrop!

The match wasn't as long and drawn out as it could have been and after only 7 minutes we were down to the final four of Jack Bodydrop, The Magnificent Mountie, Terry Rapada and Moonshiner Lee Earl. Lee Earl was eliminated a short time later
(or so the other three thought, Lee's boots never touched the ground)
and the match went on for another few minutes before the Mountie & Bodydrop double-teamed Terry Rapada and threw him over the top... but Lee Earl ran up behind the pair and shoved them both over the top for the shocking win to the applause of the crowd!

This means Moonshiner Lee Earl will be back in GAW in the New Year, but whether Billy Ray will also be brought back in or if Lee will join his 'cousins' in The Bootleggers remains to be seen.

SANTA HAS A SURPRISE FOR THE LADIES

http://imageshack.us/a/img716/8397/jamievannalt.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img850/2742/vickirhodes.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img541/1818/angeliquef.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img715/1848/libertybelle.jpg

No, we're not talking about Dirk Robertson's shocking Christmas outfit!
(the less said the better!)

Over the course of the Festive Season Tour GAW had been offering special pre-show tickets to fans for an extra couple of dollars, and the fans lapped them up. During these pre-shows the Ladies of GAW put on some pretty good matches which saw some significant skills on display, even from the relatively inexperienced Liberty Belle. It was also let slip to Wrestling in Review that Angelique had begun mentoring Belle, and the other two ladies were also working closely with her in the weeks between shows.

On the Christmas Tour Finale show GAW Owner Gordon Watts made a return to front of house duties for the evening and came out with a bag full of gift-wrapped GAW merch for the kids in the audience. With the sack empty of gifts he got into the ring, grabbed a mic and wished everyone a Merry Christmas, thanked the crowd for being there, gushed about what an amazing first year it had been for GAW, etc.

Then he asked for the Ladies of Golden Age Wrestling to join him in the ring. One by one, Vicki, Jamie Vann, Liberty Belle and finally Angelique made their way to the ring. Watts declared that there was one thing that GAW has for sure, and that is talented ladies. He told the crowd to give him a cheer if they'd bought a pre-show ticket this tour, had seen the Ladies of GAW in action and thought they were worth the $2 extra: pretty much the whole crowd cheered! And to show how appreciated they are, he had one final present in the bag for them. He reached in and pulled out a title belt, the new GAW Ladies Championship!

http://imageshack.us/a/img703/7473/gawljhd.jpg

Watts then went on to tell them that they had better go get ready, because they would be facing each other for the title after the next match!

The four way match was pretty decent and to be honest wouldn't have looked out of place on an AWW card, with the veteran Angelique taking home the win, making her not just the only woman on the roster to have held gold in the WWWE but also the first GAW Ladies Champion!

GAW UPDATE

24/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

THANKSGIVING AN OFFENSE TO THE NATIVE AMERICAN NATION, SAYS DANNY RED-CLOUD

http://imageshack.us/a/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpghttp://imageshack.us/a/img543/7173/cherokeewarrior.jpg

In a feud that began on the Thanksgiving Show, Jack America and the last ever WWWE World Heavyweight Champion 'The Cherokee Warrior' Danny Red-Cloud had a series of impressive matches after Red-Cloud declared that Thanksgiving was an offense to the Native American Nation. The feud even saw Red-Cloud align himself with The UN for a couple of shows & culminated in Sweat Lodge Match at the Christmas Tour Finale Show, the gimmick of which was that both men had to spend 6 hours in a sweat lodge before entering the match.

Whether the two men actually did it is unknown, but they played it well, with veteran of the sweat lodge Red-Cloud raring to go but the uninitiated Jack America exhausted from the heat to begin with. But as he managed to grab cold drinks offered to him by the crowd Jack regained his strength and fought back. In fact America seemed to have the match won until Red-Cloud reversed a Patriot Bomb into The Eagle's Plunge
(Reverse Neckbreaker)
. However, exhausted, the pair both lay on the mat and, surprisingly, despite a couple of efforts neither man made the 10 count and the ref declared the match a draw.

After the match Jack America made an empassioned promo about how all men are equal, no one should be blamed for the actions of people long dead and, at this time of togetherness shouldn't we all just try to get along? He offered his hand to Red-Cloud, who shook it and told Jack America that he is
'...a man of honour, but that doesn't mean I have to like you'
and walked away, leaving Jack America in the ring to shrug and wish everyone a happy holidays as the faces of the lockeroom emptied into the ring to celebrate while Liberty Belle stood on the stage with a T-shirt cannon, firing gifts into the crowd.

GAW UPDATE

25/01/2013

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER - NEW ENGLAND

GAW GOES UP IN THE WORLD

http://imageshack.us/a/img843/5901/gawe.jpg

Well, GAW's two months touring New England has really paid off! With the GAW Festive Season Tour getting rave reviews in the wrestling press as well as being rated #2 on the New England Post's 'Top Ten Fun Things To Do This Holiday Season' list, Golden Age Wrestling has certainly cemented itself in the heart and minds of the New England public.

So much so that TEW.com have declared in their 'Christmas Honours List' that Golden Age Wrestling, given the size of their turn out and the quality of their shows, would be moved from their 'Small Promotions' section and join the likes of the LWA & PWSUX in the 'Regional Promotions' section of the website.

This is a pretty big honour for Golden Age Wrestling, given that when Gordon Watts first opened GAW many in the industry didn't give them a year. Of course, the majority of the credit lies with Head Booker Jack America, and we'll be catching up with him in interview in the coming days.

http://imageshack.us/a/img546/5173/gawbanner.jpg

END OF YEAR PARTY & JACK BODYDROP

http://imageshack.us/a/img843/5901/gawe.jpg

After the Christmas Tour Finale show the whole of the night's roster, as well as some VIPs, partied long into the night at a near-by club rented by Gordon Watts. Jack Bodydrop attended and didn't even get into any trouble
(although he did spend most of the night on his own at the bar)
! In fact a good night was had by all, Guy Lothario, Rudy Single & Richie Santana held court, telling story after story after story about their time on the road with RAWA while Cherokee Warrior & Kay Pasa challenged Earl Ray Travis & Tony Chi to a drinking contest with messy results. And the departing Dwaine Kai left with more than he bargained, he and Liberty Belle making their excuses and leaving half way through the night!

Gordon Watts paid for the entire night, including the bar. Talking briefly with Wrestling in Review when asked why he picked up the tab Watts explained that, with their recent acceptance by the world as a 'regional' promotion, he felt that every man who had contributed to the fantastic first year of Golden Age Wrestling deserved a few drinks on him. He added what he was pleased to see Jack Bodydrop again, especially as he behaved himself both on the show and at the party. He explained that he met with Bodydrop in mid November. During a sober meeting with Watts, Bodydrop admitted he should have kept his mouth shut and done his job because after his outburst at Jack America mid show no bookers have wanted the former bodybuilder on their roster. Watts offered his favourite wrestler a life-line and told him he could come back to Golden Age Wrestling provided he walked into the lockeroom and apologised to everyone. Bodydrop must have done just that because he was on the final show of the year. However, how Jack America feels about this is currently unknown but I'm sure we'll find out in interview later on in the week!

http://imageshack.us/a/img546/5173/gawbanner.jpg

ECXW RETURN!

http://imageshack.us/a/img846/4286/ecxw.jpg

In a shocking turn of events Cindy Austin is back! Having spent the last six months with her lawyers she has somehow found a loop-hole in the law and resurectted ECXW from the ashes!

Having spent most of December rebuilding her roster ECXW put on their first show on the last day of the year and crowded their champions, but the roster has certainly had a shake-up, with neither of former ECXW regulars Vito Vercetti & Tracy Floyd making an appearance.

Given that Austin declared war on GAW not long before their demise we'll certainly be asking Jack America for his opinion in interview later on this week.

QUESTIONS FOR JACK AMERICA

http://imageshack.us/a/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg

As you all know we'll be in interview with Jack America in the next few days and, as usual, we'd like input from our readers.

So please post any question you have for Jack America regarding the last year or, indeed, the coming year
(although we expect that you'll get a straighter answer if you ask about stuf that happened last year
;)
)
. The top three
(as decided by the Wrestling in Review Staff)
will be posed to Jack America in interview later in the week.

So get your thinking caps on folks! And good luck!

JACK BODYDROP NOT JOINING GAW

http://imageshack.us/a/img24/5532/jackbodydrop.jpg

It can now be confirmed that WWWE legend Jack Bodydrop will
not
be joining GAW for their first tour of 2013. Bodydrop in fact appeared last night in the ECXW ring and has apparently 'set his sights' on the ECXW Maximum Extreme Championship!

In an interview for Brian Jack's blog, Bodydrop told Brian that he had no intention of heading back to GAW full time and according to Bodydrop '... GAW may be OK for the odd pay-cheque, but all the time? Naw man, that lockeroom ain't for me. But the ECXW lockeroom? Yeah, those are my kinda guys!'

Given that Gordon Watts was under the impression that Bodydrop was on board in all but signature, will this leave a hole in the GAW roster? We'll be asking Jack America just that in interview later this week.

INTERVIEW WITH JACK AMERICA

28/01/2013

Welcome back to 'Wrestling in Review'. After an amazing first year as a booker amongst some turbulent times in nostalgia wrestling we finally have head booker for Golden Age Wrestling, Jack America back in the Wrestling in Review Office to talk about the last year and maybe get a little peek at things to come this year from the US' latest 'Regional' promotion.

********************

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Welcome back to the Wrestling in Review Offices Jack, it's been a while.

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Yeah, sorry about that. I've been pretty busy the last few months...

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Totally understandable Jack, and we appreciate the phone interviews you gave us, so thanks for that.

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- No problem man, finding five minutes to talk on the phone is no trouble.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Well, thanks again. And I have to say, congratulations on booking Golden Age Wrestling all the way to 'Regional', that really is a big step for what many labeled at the start of 2012 as a 'one year wonder'!

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Thanks man. I'm not gonna say is was easy, there were a few hiccups along the way but we got there. In actual fact when I first took over as the booker in GAW one of the main things Gordon said was that if I was gonna take over the book then he wanted it done properly, and gave me the goal of getting GAW recognised as a 'Regional' promotion by mid 2013. So I'm pretty stoked to have got there by the end of 2012!

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- So you intended for the Festive Season Tour to tip you over the top?

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- That was the plan. But I'm not taking all the credit by a long shot! The guys on the roster for the final tour all did an awesome job out there... I mean come on, Shay Kinsella vs Nick Hart on the Tour Finale made it into the Top 10 US Matches of The Year! And I got to work with another of my childhood heroes Danny Red-Cloud...

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Yeah, I was going to ask... a Sweat Lodge Match??

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Ha hah ha!
(America blushed)
Yeah, well, you know, I always wanted to do a proper crazy gimmick match, something like Paige used to churn out back in the day. When I suggested it to Danny he laughed so hard down the phone I figured he was just gonna hang up, but he told me that after the straight-laced world of touring with UPJ he would love to be involved it something a little more zany. To be honest I think it might have been the thing that actually convinced him to come on board!

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Well the pay-off match certainly came over well...

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Yeah... But in hind sight I should have put the title match on last, who would have thought Kinsella & Hart would have that kind of chemistry though?

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Yeah, they certainly stole the show. So, will being a 'Regional' promotion mean any changes for GAW?

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Actually, yes it will. We'll still be running the old schedule of 2 months on, 1 off, working the same venue for four weeks before moving on. But from now on we will be running one extra show a month. Over the Festive Tour the people of New England opened their hearts to Golden Age Wrestling and it wouldn't be right to just ditch them. So we'll be heading back to New England at the end of every month for GAW Last Night in New England. We'll put on some rematches from the Tour Finale, maybe revisit some matches from earlier in the tour, give some folks a chance to pick up on things they missed, that kind of thing. It's because of the love of the people of New England that I get to keep my job, I owe them!

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Awesome! Well given what we're in Rhode Island right now you can guarantee everyone from the Wrestling in Review Offices will be heading on down on the last Sunday of the month! So, I've got a question for you Jack. ECXW: Your thoughts?

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Well I saw that coming. Yeah, somehow Cindy fought the law.. and won. So they're back. Cindy actually rang me the night before her first show and called a truce. Well, actually she said,
'...well played, Mr America, well played. I'm done with you now darlin, never darken my door again!'
but I figure that means the same thing. They've changed up the roster a bit, and Tracy & Vito turned her down to stay with GAW...

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Jack Bodydrop on the other hand...

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Yeah, Jack made his choice. She apparently offered him more money and a guaranteed main strap run to sign an exclusive six month PPA contract. And, well, I can't say I'm that bothered. The whole roster was just waiting for him to kick off, and that ain't good for business.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Well our reader Emark did ask the question: 'Do you believe that Jack Bodydrop would be able to stay a model citizen if he were to come back to GAW?' So Jack...?

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Honestly, I'd love to say yes. I'd love to say that Jack Bodydrop has changed his ways, turned over a new leaf and would be a model employee. But after the way he acted last year he'd have to prove that first. And I'm personally happy to see him prove that on someone else's roster!

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Wow, really no love lost there, is there?! Anyway, moving on. We also had a question from MichiganHero: 'Mister Jack America, if you could hire anyone past or present to an exclusive contract, who would you hire?'

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Anyone? Ever? Wow! Errrrrr...... Well, honestly, I'd be torn between Big Bear Briscoe & 'Stunning' Stan Rogers. Bear is, in my opinion, the
original
monster heel of American professional wrestling, so many big guys still use moves that he perfected back in the day. But then you have Rogers, the man wrestlers like Guy Lothario modeled themselves on, tragically taken before his time in a boating accident... No, no, I'll go with the Big Bear. There's something special about him for me. I met him after a wrestling show my dad took me to when I was a kid growing up in Orange County. He was there in his chains of office, signing autographs. I asked my dad why the mayor was so popular. I was so shocked when me dad told me that Mayor Briscoe used to be Big Bear Briscoe, the terrifying monster of pro wrestling. I got to meet him, he picked me up for a picture. I still have it, I keep it in my kit bag. So yeah, Big Bear Briscoe, even if he was just still alive and 92 years old, would always have a place in GAW.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- And there was me expecting you to say Terry Thunder or Guy Lothario! And here we have another legend based question from Psycho Sam: 'Out of all the legends on the roster
(including Bodydrop and Hudson)
, who would you say fits you best as a tag team.'

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Including Bodydrop?! HA! But seriously, right now, without giving any new signings away I'd have to say the best fit would probably be Shay Kinsella if we were on the same side of the fence. I reckon our styles would mesh well and, who knows, maybe one day we'll find out. But up until the end of the last tour it would have to have been my actual occasional tag partner American Standard, for obvious reasons. But he's asked to take some time off GAW to concentrated on his new contract with HCG.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Ah yes, Hollywood Championship Grappling. We heard some rumours there...

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Yeah, I'm sure you did. Johnny Axe's Hollywood Championship Grappling is, I'll be honest, right up my alley, and I've made it to a couple of shows. Got to grab some time with Johnny himself last time I was there, and he admitted he is a bit of a fan of the direction I've taken GAW. We came to an agreement, and we will be doing a few talent swaps over the coming months.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- So the rumours of a working agreement
are
true?

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Totally, and I'm sure proud of it. Johnny seems like a decent guy and, well, with a legend like Jerry King holding the book you can't go wrong. They've got some guys on their roster who would be a good fit in GAW, and apparently Jerry is looking forward to booking some of his old WWWE pals on HCG shows, so it's win-win really!

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- Well they certainly are tipped for good things this year. OK, we have one final submitted question, this time from jhd1: 'Mr. America, with the company's first year in business under its belt a success, how do you expect the company to continue to improve going forward into 2013?'

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2066/jackamerica.jpg
- Good question! And the answer is simple... progression. Now we're 'Regional' there is a whole new level of legends that will now consider GAW worth a shot, much like Danny Red-Cloud did. Who knows, one day we might get old Thunderhips himself in the GAW ring, but there are plenty of legends out there who I tried to contact that wouldn't touch the 'nostalgia joke' of an unproven GAW in early 2012. Maybe now they'll start returning my calls. Last year proved that GAW has some of the best up and coming wrestlers on the US scene and we proved that we can recreate the spirit of the olden days with new, exciting talent. You combine more popular legends with talented youngsters capable of putting those legends over well, and that is just going to breed success... well, that's my opinion anyway. Rest assured, 2013 will see fresh faces, old hands, legends new to GAW with maybe a few new up and coming workers thrown into the mix for good measure. One thing you can be sure of, we'll certainly be looking to grow our fanbase all over the country in the coming year, so watch out America, the Golden Age of Wrestling could be coming to your town soon!

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5553/thegrandavatar.jpg
- And I'm sure looking forward to it! Well, thanks for your time today Jack, we look forward to seeing what you do with GAW over the coming months.

********************

So there you have it folks, Jack America seems to have no doubt in his mind that the coming year will be success for Golden Age Wrestling, lets hope he's right. Jack has assured us that the majority of the roster for the February Tour, which sees GAW set to head to Austin, Texas, will be announced in the coming days but he wants to keep some new members in reserve as a surprise for the loyal GAW following.

See you in Austin
;)

FEBRUARY 2ND 2013

Taken from the GAW website events page.

GOLDEN AGE WRESTLING COMES TO AUSTIN, TEXAS

FEBRUARY 4TH 2012

DISAGREEMENT LEADS TO MATCH

http://imageshack.us/a/img507/1429/lilswagalt5.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://img854.imageshack.us/img854/2843/blairbrunzell.jpg

LATINO SWAG vs BLAIR BRUNZELL

It seems that Swag's new 'Hooci Momma' Tori has already begun to cause friction in the lockeroom. Some miss-timed comments from her to Swag about the condition of B. Brian Browne (currently out injured) were overheard by Blair Brunzell, who hit the roof and demanded she apologise. When the pair laughed in his face Brunzell slapped Tori, punched Swag in the face and demanded they meet in the ring. And Swag thought his new 'Latino' persona would make
him
the most passionate man on the roster!

LOTTERY MONTH FOR DIRK ROBERTSON

'Simply Fabulous'
DIRK ROBERTSON vs F.J. KENDALL

In his first experience of this on the receiving end Dirk Robertson will be facing a different man each week, defending the GAW All-American Title on every show. The random competitor chosen for the first show is F.J. Kendall. With Lukas Meunecker gone for this tour Kendall is keen to make some headway in singles competition, but can he win the gold?

SHAY KINSELLA © vs NICK HART

After their amazing match in December Nick Hart got in touch with GAW Management and requested a rematch with GAW World Heavyweight Champion Shay Kinsella, and GAW Management jumped at the chance. Shay Kinsella, however, was less than happy and you can rest assured that he will be bringing the fight to the son of a legend, determined to to prove a second time that he is the rightful holder of the GAW World Heavyweight Title!
