[Thunderverse] Gureisu Pro, Wrestling is Fun!

Recommended Posts

Warning: This dynasty may contain crass humour, science experiments gone wrong, liberal amount of riddles and the occasional Ye Olde English speak. Don't try to think too much with this dynasty. Thinking is, most definitely, not advised.

AWF was a cushy job. I was on TV, I was helping train young wrestlers into the stars of tomorrow. But after a while, the days blend into one. Ezekial kept telling me I'd get a push for my efforts. Hell Jerry King was all for it until he left. Casey Skym? Well that's a different story. I knew my time was drawing to a close.

So I left. Went back home to Denver. Met old friends and pondered what to do.

Then it hit me. I'm not done yet. I'm ready to give back to this business.

Gureisu Pro. Taking its name from the Japanese kanji for grace, Gureisu Pro delivers high flying action and colourful characters to the audiences in the Colorado region. Based on POW's wrestling style, Gureisu aims to deliver fun wrestling to the slightly older person with adult humour used during matches.

Author's note: Don't expect these bits of the dynasty to be too long. It's not something I'm very good at right now. The next post will reveal the roster.

Aye, the plan was always to use an existing character as a Mike Quackenbush-esque figure. Leroy seemed ideal, seeing as PsychoTIC won ROAL (A huge surprise to myself, I originally had him earmarked as the owner.)

I prefer working with big rosters. :p Means that I don't have to worry about losing people, unless they are part of my big plans.

Gureisu Pro presents A Big Bad Ass Championship Tournament!

Held at A High School in Denver, Colorado.

Attendance: 300 (A sell out crowd.)

http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/TheCommander.jpghttp://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/Devastation.jpg vs http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/NewtonCambridgeWS.jpghttp://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/FinEATo.jpg

Mercenaries Inc. vs

  • Mercenaries Inc. came out first and didn't look pleased to be in the match, especially since The Commander claimed "Nobody had paid him to take out the dweebs."
  • The rather eccentric team of Weird Science were completely the opposite of Mercs Inc. as they came out, Newton with a big smile on his face and his safety googles still on, whilst FinEATo burst through the curtain and proceeded to try and swim amongst the fans in attendance.
  • Once the match started, it was a pretty one-sided contest as The Commander and Devastation took their grievances with Gureisu Pro management out on Weird Science, eventually ending the match in just over ten minutes with Devastation hitting FinEATo with his patented Total Devastation.

Mercs Inc. win via pinfall in 10:27

Rating: 31

http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/AdamManchester.jpg vs http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/ScottSeal.jpg vs http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/KrisBryant.jpg vs http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/TonyPearce.jpg

Adam Manchester vs Scott Seal vs

vs Tony Pearce

  • Adam Manchester was first out, displaying all the patriotic qualities that garnered him the nickname “American Made Machine” during his early wrestling career. Slapping the hands of the fans, even taking one of them for a quick dance around the school hall.
  • The jovial mood was soon broken by the appearance of Scott Seal, who marched through the entrance curtain with a look of intent in his eyes.
  • Kris Bryant followed, although not to the distaste of the fans as he kept telling them to go and see him in the newest blockbuster “Attack of The Killer Hot Dogs III”. One witty fan responding by throwing an actual hot dog at him.
  • Tony Pearce rounded out the entrants to the match to little fanfare as he just set his sights on the ring and made a beeline for it.
  • Manchester and Seal was the main focus of this match as both men laid into each other, effectively eliminating themselves from the match as they took the fight outside of the ring and eventually to the back.
  • Bryant took the time to flaunt his acting skills to the crowd as he “wowed” them with a variety of different styles. What he failed to notice was Tony Pearce coming up behind him and utilising his profound knowledge of wrestling to grab a quick pinfall victory.

Tony Pearce won the match in 14:51 via Pinfall #7 (Half Nelson Pin)

Rating: 41

vs

  • The Infestation were the clear crowd favourites here whilst the crowd didn't know what to make of the team of Missing Piece and Puzzle.
  • Black Beetle wasn't actually ever on the apron, instead due to Gureisu Pro's lucha tag rules, he hid in the shadows (i.e. under the ring) and waited for his time to strike whereas Blue Beetle launched all sorts of aerial warfare, including a very impressive suicide dive to the both members of PoTP whilst they were out of the ring.
  • PoTP made a brief comeback, nearly grabbing the win after the Missing Piece hit Blue Beetle with a Puzzle assisted Picture Perfect.
  • Black Beetle ended the match for his team after forcibly ejecting a prone Blue Beetle from the ring and hitting Missing Piece with a quick Dung Roll.

The Infestation won the match in 10:14 via Dung Roll to Missing Piece

vs Devon Homicide

  • Cameron Cody didn't have far to travel as he jumped down from the commentary station for this match (Cody being one of the few members of the Gureisu Pro roster who pulls double duty).
  • Devon Homicide looked like he was ready for a fight, and a fight was what he got in this first round match.
  • Cody looked to be in control for most of the match, showing off his wide range of skills including the always impressive array of high flying moves which he is known for.
  • Devon payed little regret for the rules, and this almost cost him the match via excessive punishment as Referee Joe Preston almost had to pry him off of Cody.
  • This proved to be Homicide's downfall as he spent a little too much time in a verbal confrontation with a fan and Cody snuck up behind him, hitting the Zero G Roll for the pinfall and a place in the semi-finals of the Gureisu Championship tournament.

Cameron Cody won the match in 15:01 via Zero G Roll.

DISCO Fox next greeted the viewer as he stood backstage with a mystery blonde by his side.

http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/DISCOFox.jpghttp://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/ChloeBourel.jpg

DF: Haha, the great Gureisu Pro? THIS is what I took him away from my empire for? A skinny ass white boy who thinks he can fly and some bugs. Well tonight, I crush some bugs. And tomorrow night, I go on the clip the wings of Mr. Anti Gravity. I'm the best damn thing about this place. Look at me, I'm a man of class. Look at the lovely Miss Chloe Bourel, my own personal valet.

[bourel shoots Fox a look of anger at that statement]

DF: I've got everything a man can dream of. So tonight Brown B, I don't mean to do you no harm. What I mean to do is use you as a stepping stone on MY path to greatness. Maybe Brown B, if you make this easy for yourself, I'll help you one day.

With that, Fox and Bourel leave the scene with Fox laughing away to himself and Bourel looking like she wants to kick him in the skull.

DISCO Fox vs

  • Fox remained true to his word and offered El Hijo Del Brown Beetle $100 to lie down for him. Beetle considered it and lay down. Fox looked gleeful at this until as soon as he went to cover his opponent, Brown Beetle rolled him through and locked on An Ode To Brown Beetle I.
  • Fox managed to break the hold and after Referee Miles Grissom officially started the match, Fox unloaded on Brown Beetle.
  • Brown Beetle never recovered from the beating and eventually succumbed to DISCO's combination of a pimp slap delivered with great force and then The Last Dance. Fox lazily covered Beetle for the win and a place in the semi-finals.

DISCO Fox won the match in 15:30 after a Pimp Slap/The Last Dance combo.

After the match, Fox picked Brown Beetle up and delivered more punishment, at one point mocking Cameron Cody by hitting Beetle with Cody's own Zero G Roll. Eventually enough was enough and Cody stormed the ring, alongside The Infestation, to chase off Fox. Fox managed to get a cheap shot in at Cody before escaping through the crowd, leaving Cody in the ring with a look of visible anger on his face.

Another trip to the mythical backstage beckoned as this time, Joey Sleaze was lounging about the backstage area, looking like the ultimate sleazebag.

http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o765/Wrestlesaurus_X/Gureisu%20Pro/JoeySleaze.jpg

JS: Hello cameraman, and welcome to my love parlour. Ask anyone around here, all the ladies love a bit of Sleaze. The new face of professional wrestling and the man that will take Gureisu Pro all the way up to the top. Yes sir, the days where people like the esteemed Leroy Winters could be Mr. Humble and Right and gain fans are gone. No one has any interest in him, hell this promotion is a whole vanity trip for him.

[The cameraman interrupts here reminding Joey that Leroy Winters has no involvement in the day-to-day running of Gureisu Pro and that The Magic 8 Ball and the Board of Directors own Gureisu Pro]

JS: Mr. Cameraman, never do that again. You hear me? No one wants to hear your words. Everybody is here to see me. They are here to see my dazzling grace, hear my beautiful voice and pretty soon, they will gaze upon the sight of me, gold and a whole lot of Sleaze.

vs Blaize

  • The crowd were split on this match, half wanting Blaize to kick Sleaze's teeth down his throat and half wanting Sleaze to continue on in the tournament.
  • Blaize was like a house of raging mercenary fire in the early goings and had Sleaze on the ropes numerous times, until Sleaze managed to cheat his way back into the match by using a variety of eye-rakes, nipple pulls and unseen low blows to bring Blaize down.
  • Sleaze pretty much had the match won after taking Blaize to The Climax but he decided to make an impact, and probably show Leroy Winters what he was capable of, by taking Blaize up top and nailing the Pleasure Trip for the three count.

Joey Sleaze won the match in 15:07 via Pleasure Trip

vs

  • The main event of the evening saw two individuals with very similar styles do battle. Leroy Winters came out to a standing ovation as the hometown hero and took atleast a good two to three minutes slapping hands with the fans.
  • Oliver Crowlington III was a different manner as he looked like he wanted nothing to do with the fans, at one point calling them all "uneducated buffoons in need of a good trashing".
  • The match was even with both men looking like they could walk away with the final place in the semi-finals. Crowlington definitely looked like winning when he had Leroy in the Prince's Lock but the support from Winter's hometown crowd helped him escape the hold.
  • Crowlington grew cocky late on in the match and attempted to go for an easy cover. Winters, being the veteran, saw through his plan and rolled through on the pin attempt and putting Crowlington down for A Long Winter's Rest. Crowlington tapped shortly afterwards.

Leroy Winters won the match via A Long Winter's Rest in 20:21

To add insult to injury, Fox picked up a limp Winters and planted him with The Last Dance to secure his place in the final.<br></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>DISCO Fox won in 14:54 via Pimp Slap/The Last Dance combo with help from a Joey Sleaze distraction.</strong></p><p><strong> Rating: 41</strong></p></div></blockquote></div><p></p><p> </p><p> Fox wasn't finished though as he once again began a beatdown of his opponent, this time aided by Joey Sleaze who had now made his way to ringside. The beatdown continued for a few minutes, Fox even forcing an unwilling Chloe Bourel to join in, until Cameron Cody came flying out through the entrance area. Clearing the ring like a house on fire, he helped Winters to his feet promising to defeat both Sleaze and Fox for him. Predictions Table.

jhd - 5/7 + 5/9 = 10/16

Midnightnick - 4/7 + 6/9 = 10/16

MorenoKing24 - 4/7 + 1/9 = 5/16

Tiberious4 - 7/7 + 6/9 = 13/16

TheEnforcer - 7/7 + 1/9 = 8/16

Huntman - 6/7 + 4/9 (+1 Bonus point for correctly guessing the Gureisu Championship Final) = 11/16

MJStark - 6/7 + 3/8 (Never picked a tag tournament finals winner. I never noticed until now.) = 9/15

As seen here, Tiberious is somehow INSIDE OF MY HEAD, propelling himself (herself?) into first. :p

After show(s) thoughts

I'm pleased with how the show turned out myself. I'm not expecting great grades out of the gate but I'm more of a storyteller than a power gamer.

Surprised so many people went for the Trash Heap Trillionaires, which is what tripped up most of the predictors.

A big thanks to everyone who predicted. If you think your score is off, let me know because as of writing this I am half asleep and may make mistakes. :p

Prediction Prize

The prediction prize is possibly a weird one. The contest runs until June (6 shows including the 2 that have just been posted). The prize is for the top four predictors. July's event is The Magical Mystery Tour. The top four predictor people's prize is the chance to PM me up to TWO matches that they want featured on this card. Once I have the matches from the winners, I'll run the show.

Does the above make ANY sense? :p

Also, I'm curious. How were people picking for these events, given the rather limited field of information available about characters, storylines and other stuff?

Really enjoying things so far. It is weird that I can't get into the Thunderverse as far as doing a dynasty on my own, but really do love checking out the dynasties others do.

Cheers Voeltzwagon. I'm the complete opposite, I just can't seem to get into a CVerse game for the life of me.

Weird Science need to become canon, they're that awesome. The fact that they didn't become Gureisu Pro Dream Pair champions is simply outrageous! :p

We must petition jhd! I mean there is a promotion in Hollywood just ripe for it as well! :p

Not just me then? Looked through the cverse, then started work on the LotharioVerse, by the time that was done I was testing the ThunderVerse, then it came out :o

I've tried, even with TEW '13 and the only game I can be a part of is Regional Rumble.

The ThunderVerse has Weird Science and The Infestation. What more do I need? :p

Same. I've tried Cverse and the few RW mods released so far and I've not made it past one show on any of them. :D

Sorry to double post, but I've finally had chance to sit down and read both shows together (I had previously read them with a substantial break inbetween and I think they work best in tandem). Fantastic start to Gureisu Pro. I really like the roster you've put together - there are some criminally underused people in there and some surprises too (mainly Bourel) - but you also gave a fairly sizeable roster enough time to go out and let the fans know who they are. However, in a sea of gems (one of which I have nominated for Monthly Spotlight) one line stood out as a classic...

The Magic 8 Ball also was around, allowing fans to answer a question and shake his head for an answer.

Perfect :D

Well, how else do you get an answer from a Magic 8 Ball? :p

Cheers for the good words jhd. I'm drawing inspiration from CHIKARA - who would have guessed! - in the way that every worker has a voice and a personality that people can see.

I should have an Event Center up tomorrow, just waiting on a few things before I type it up.

That shows, definitely. No doubt helped by the new TEW angle mechanics too, I would guess? I've certainly found that I have no problem whatsoever giving Joe Havanna the mic for five minutes even though he's unlikely to pass C- a segment for a while. I think that it also makes diary reading much more varied, as there is absolutely nothing to stop any worker in the mod from being given a strong character now that it won't destroy your overall rating.
