Last week Shockwave! ended in controversy when two men secured a pin at exactly the same time. Given that the match was designed to find an opponent for Mountain Albert at Battle For Los Angeles this man, right here, was left in a quandary. Do I re-run the match to get one winner? Do I have Towerblock face off against Timothy Hawk in the main event? Both of these suggestions left me with one problem – I had promised that we'd know a #1 Contender last week and any delaying of that would no doubt cause Nikita and Mountain Albert to bother me even more than usual!

So I came to the unanimous decision that in the main event event of the Battle For Los Angeles...

Mountain Albert will face off against...

Timothy Hawk!

...and...

Towerblock!

That's right, we'll have a three-way match for the AWF World title on the first PPV of 2013 and it's a guaranteed classic!

WILSON HANCOCK & DANI vs RICKY FYRE & JAZZ

-In an unusual match for Shockwave! - a mixed tag team match – both teams showed their wrestling abilities well, even if the contest wasn't as good as it might have been.

-The referee ensured that the rules were applied quickly and whenever Dani was tagged in, Jazz was forced to enter the ring.

-After a back and forth that saw a number of pinfalls broken up by an interfering partner, it was Wilson Hancock that got the upper hand, rolling up Ricky Fyre for the revenge victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 6:12...WILSON HANCOCK & DANI!

Two weeks ago the Enemies Of The State played hide and seek with my rulebook, and I promised that they'd get punished. Tonight that punishment takes place. It's going to be an old-fashion a**kicking, and it's going to be extremely fun to watch. You see, the Enemies Of The State like to remind everyone what a great TAG TEAM they are. So they'll be in tag team competition. Only this is tag teams with a twist. The match will follow elimination rules – if someone is pinned they must leave the contest, and it will continue until one team has no “active” members. The Enemies, being the excellent tag team duo they claim to be, must wrestle under 'normal' tag team rules; that is, only one member of the team is active at one time. Their opponents, however, will operate under tornado tag rules – both men will be legal at the same time. Think of it as a sort of handicap match turned gauntlet. Either way, it's going to be punishing and it's exactly the sort of thing this man, right here, wants to see!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Towerblock.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/SilvaDolla.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/OmriStone.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/RevolverBinx.jpg

TOWERBLOCK & SILVA DOLLA vs ENEMIES OF THE STATE

-This match was designed to be punishment for the Enemies and that was exactly what it ended up being.

-Thanks to their “tornado” rule advantage Towerblock and Silva Dolla completely dominated the former AWF World Tag Team champions and, unsurprisingly, it didn't take very long for the first member of the duo, Revolver Binx, to be eliminated.

-Omri Stone did his best to escape the match, but with Casey Skym standing watch on the outside, he didn't get very far!

-A
Ten Storey Chokeslam
on Omri Stone after seven and a half minutes was enough to end the pain for the Enemies.

YOUR WINNER IN 7:32...TOWERBLOCK & SILVA DOLLA!

ALBERTO MARCHENA JR vs LEROY
“Harsh”
WINTERS

-Most AWF fans will have never heard of Alberto Marchena Jr. In fact, most won't have heard of his wrestler father either, but that didn't stop the Mexican newcomer from making an impact on his debut.

-Showing impressive all-round skills, Marchena managed to tie Winters in knots a couple of times.

-In the end, Marchena made sure the fans knew he was playing the heel when he used the ropes for leverage while locking in his
Media Cerrajera (Neck trap and hammerlock combination)
submission.

YOUR WINNER IN 9:59...ALBERTO MARCHENA JR!

ALBERTO MARCHENA JR

My father, Alberto Marchena Sr, was a respected member of the Campeonato de la Lucha Libre de Mexico roster. He was an excellent wrestler, a great talker and yet the people of my home country looked down on him. They didn't believe he had what it takes to become the very best in the world. I am also an excellent wrestler, a great talker, but I am not my father. I am no loser. I am not destined for the midcard, wrestling internet indy shows for most of my career. I am a successful MMA fighter. I am the biggest Mexican star the sport of mixed martial arts has ever seen and I intend on seeing that I also become the greatest Mexican wrestling star the world has ever seen. I am going to stroll through this backwater company until I win the World title. Then, I will walk away and move on to a real company like UPJ or CLLM where I will ensure my forgettable midcard father is only referred to as a footnote in the biography of Alberto Marchena Jr, Mexico's biggest star EVER!

“The World's Strongest Man”
HERCULEZ vs
“The MVP”
VINCENT I PARKER

-These two wrestlers have been in the middle of a heated feud for some weeks and that showed when Vincent I Parker ran up the ramp to meet Herculez before the bell had rung!

-The pair brawled back down the aisle and around the ring, before finally entering the squared circle.

-Herculez' power gave him a huge advantage in the early going, but Parker was clever enough to avoid most of his biggest moves.

-Herculez though he had secured the victory when he locked in a Bear Hug...but a thumb in the eye from Parker meant he had to let go.

-In the end, Parker's greater stamina and quicker feet had given him the edge and when his
Out Of The Park (Uranage)
attempt nearly broke his back in half, Parker was forced to improvise and hit a variation that was more akin to a
fall forward lifting side slam
to secure the victory.

YOUR WINNER IN 10:21...VINCENT I PARKER!

IN-RING

[Herculez is not happy about losing. Ever. As a general rule, if you should find yourself in a position to win a match against the “World's Strongest Man” then it is usually worth making a quick exit. Vincent I Parker, having learnt from past experience did just that, but the referee had no such luck. Grabbing the unlucky unofficial by the scruff of his collar, Herculez locked in an enormous bearhug that saw the referee pass out in seconds. With his eyes fixed on Parker at all times, Herculez made his point loud and clear...next time it will be you!]

Timothy Hawk may have secured his place in the main event of the Battle For Los Angeles, but all that means is that he is one step closer to everlasting pain. If Timothy Hawk wins the AWF World title then he will suffer, as I rip the gold from between his fingers. If Timothy Hawk fails to win at the Battle For Los Angeles then he will suffer still as I use him as a stepping stone to the title. Timothy Hawk's fate is secured, it is black, it is harrowing, and it is his worst living nightmare!

TIMOTHY HAWK vs
“Parisien Playboy”
JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX

-An excellent main event between two of the promotion's most reliable stars.

-Determined to seek revenge for last week's defeat, Giroux started the quickest and used his excellent technical knowledge to take Hawk off his feet.

-Hawk, however, relied on the strength of the audience to fight back and was soon on the ascendancy.

-Both men came close over the next few minutes but Timothy Hawk, as is often the case, managed to snatch the victory when he slipped out of a
Playboy Press (Lifting Spinebuster)
attempt and managed to turn the situation on its head, and hitting the
Justice Slam (Full Nelson Slam)
on his French opponent was enough to keep him down for the three count.

YOUR WINNER IN 11:47...TIMOTHY HAWK!

Were the vignettes for Marchena? If so, they were pretty babyface vignettes for a heel character.

Nope. Remember the countdown ;)

To be fair, I should probably have continued the promos on this show but I ran out of bookable time.

  • 2 weeks later...

Time for some thoughts. Contrary to my post earlier this week, I am thinking about bringing this diary to a close (in case anyone was wondering I removed earlier to stop any confusion, and also because I look a bit daft contradicting myself so quickly! :p ). This is for a couple of reasons, neither of which is because I am not enjoying writing, the game or the save itself.

I have come to the realisation that after around three months or so of diary writing (in-game, that is) that I find myself less attached to the project. In some respects this is just a natural process, but I think it is partly to do with a lack of a final goal. This diary could, in theory, continue indefinitely because there is no structure to it (i.e. it isn't a year in the life, or a specific backstage story). I think that lack of structure is partly to blame for the lack of motivation.

Perhaps the biggest reason this has taken hold in this diary is the very big mistake I made early on. The idea for four PPVs a year could have been a good one - hopefully you've all enjoyed the storytelling to this point at least. However, in-game it is a bit disastrous. Not only did I leak money (which, to be honest, doesn't make much difference), but none of my wrestlers changed noticeably in popularity. That meant initial projects like Joe Havanna, Ricky Fyre and Mitch Mulconry have gone nowhere in-game. Joe Havanna is the only one to have a bump in popularity, and that is only because I had to feed two higher overness people to him early on (and as a consequence upset them a lot). In TEW2010 this wouldn't have been such a problem as TV overness changes were bigger. This has also scuppered my motivation as I feel like, in-game terms, I'm basically in the same place I started the diary despite having booked 13 shows. I enjoyed booking and then telling the stories, but I don't feel like they made any real difference to the characters in the game.

I am proposing to finish the next Shockwave, and then the Battle For Los Angeles. I would then write up something that will present my ideas for the remainder of the year.

For what it is worth, the intention behind this diary was for it to become my longest running diary and, I think, by the time I reach Battle For Los Angeles it will be very close (in show numbers, if not in comments). If I remember correctly, both BfPT and Under Pressure reached approximately 3 months before computer failure ended the former, and writers fatigue the latter.

Any thoughts and/or questions would be most welcome :D

Shame to hear, but I understand where you're coming from. The main thrust behind this was Casey Skym's influence on the AWF and what he brought to the table now he was the man in charge. His initial manifesto was sound and I enjoyed the challenges, the format change, segs with EOTS, etc, but yes, from a booking perspective, it's tough to remain enthused by a game if you're not booking to any particular point or story. Everything has basically just chugged along nicely, the feuds have all been solid, Skym's consistent and so forth, but I can see why that progress (especially if it's not reflected by the game's mechanics) can seem unfulfilling. I must confess, when I've ran with The Club or PWI, I've ran a very haphazard schedule which hasn't been to the benefit of the promotions (with The Club, I hold a ppv maybe every 6-8 shows, depending on whether I'm working to storyline highpoints), but the drive has come from the story points I'm working too. I find working in TV schedule format really helps in that respect.

Anyway, enough of my blah blahing, I'm still keen to see how your final events unfold and what your plans were.

You can also explain why you insisted on locking Luke Graves to a written contract in 2013 and then criminally underused him :p

It's also still a fine achievement to get as far as you have with this.

Shame to see this go really.

I had enjoyed the hardcore legend's take of AWF but i understand that if you are not getting the motivation or are not enjoying yourself, there is no point in continuing.

Loved AWF so far and will probably keep a look-out on any future projects that you do.You have also supported me throughout my diary so far with your valuable comments so thanks for that.

Cheers

Can I now take the time to voice my displeasure with the entire death of the AWF tag team scene and start a petition for it to come back? :p

It's been a great read man. If this is the end then I'll accept it and hope that you move onto another dynasty that might shine light on criminally underused parts of the world that might suit you better. :)

Thanks for the kind words all.

Tag team competition is dead. Ezekiel Trillion knows it :p

Luke Graves probably would have had far more air time if any of my roster gained popularity. Seriously, virtually no one shifted at all and it was really, really annoying :D

One of things I really want to do (and have for a while) is put some focus on the backstage characters. Every so often a diary comes along that makes that even more obvious to me, be it Eisen-verse's many epics, angeldelayette's always-awesome Avatar pieces or 3rdString's KP story arc. That is something, above anything else really, I'd like to focus on next time around.

I will be doing another diary, and I will be doing it soon. I have a few ideas, but if anyone has any thoughts then feel free to PM me. Needless to say, it'll be ThunderVerse!

Just to let everyone know, the next show is almost complete and should be ready for posting sometime tomorrow. Obviously because the diary is coming to an end I won't be doing any predictions, and I won't be bothering with the Brian Jack stories either (needless to say, PWI win the ratings :D ). The Battle For Los Angeles, thanks to its battle royal match, doesn't have too many segments so it shouldn't take too long to write up. I will then do monthly updates until December 2013 in-game.

In other news, plans for the next project are moving ahead nicely. Because of the way I am planning to arrange it I can book most of the shows in advance and still be able to find new things to write about. Show 1 is about half-way complete in terms of writing and is closer to Battle For Prime Time than it is this diary in style. Hopefully people will enjoy it all the same :)

Unfortunately not, he debuts a couple of weeks later. However, the advantage of the diary coming to an end and me writing up monthly plans is that I can write what I WOULD have done with your choice rather than what I likely would have HAD to do with him with the current setup ;)

MARCO DE FRANCESCO vs
“Blazin”
RICKY FYRE

-A decent opener that saw the previous TV title holder take on the number one contender for the United States title.

-That distinction pretty much summed up the disparity between the two wrestlers' momentums and Ricky Fyre began the match the stronger of the two.

-De Francesco fought back and showed glimmers of why he was such a deserving TV champion...

-...but it didn't take long for Fyre to regain the upper hand and just before the eight minute mark an
Unleash The Fyre (Tiger Driver)
finisher put an end to the night's opener.

You know why I'm looking forward to the Battle For Los Angeles? So I can wipe that smug look off Silva Dolla's ugly kisser. Sure, I've got a problem with his attitude, his wrestling ability and the fact that he is holding my title belt, but I have NOT been attacking him backstage. Believe me, if I had, he'd know it was me and he wouldn't be getting back up for a week. Four days, Dolla, and then I'm taking your title home, your pride and Piper? Well let's just say I might take her home as well!

MITCH MULCONRY & ALBERTO MARCHENA JR vs THE CHRISTENSENS

-The two newest members of the AWF roster might look like an oddball tag team, but that didn't stop them from dominating against the more experienced former Tag Team champions Jonah and Bryce Christensen.

-While as a unit, Mitch Mulconry and Alberto Marchena were sloppy, individually they were strong and technically proficient and their solo strengths were more than a match for the almost psychic-link style of tag wrestling from the Christensens.

-In the end a
Make Mine A Double (Second Rope Backbreaker)

“Dangerous”
CHRIS CANDELL vs
“Ice Cold”
LUKE GRAVES

-A standard midcard match between two young talents with a lot of potential, but currently not a huge amount of air time.

-Candell lived up to his “Dangerous” moniker and gave Luke Graves a serious run for his money, even getting a near-three count until the referee noticed Graves' foot on the ropes.

-However, while Candell is an excellent wrestler, he is also quick to anger and that short fuse got him into trouble tonight, leaving him wide open to a
Your Grave Mistake (Rolling Cutter)
finisher, and handing his opponent the victory.

JAZZ, NEVAEH & ROSANA vs DANI, SERENITY & SUMMER

-An athletic, if not particularly inspiring, six diva contest.

-The short amount of time given to the match meant that none of the divas really had much chance to put in a showcase of their talents.

-During the match it was revealed that, like the main event two weeks ago, whoever scored the pin would face Dani at the Battle For Los Angeles PPV.

-The surprise victor, however, wasn't Jazz or Rosana, the most recent rivals of Dani, but one of her allies, Summer!

-That shock victory didn't see much celebration as the two allies looked uncomfortable at the prospect of facing each other at the PPV!

YOUR WINNERS IN 6:13...DANI, SERENITY & SUMMER!

SUMMER IS THE NEW #1 CONTENDER TO THE AWF STARLETS TITLE!

SILVA DOLLA

Ricky Fyre talks about himself like he's the damn Queen of England. The Awesome Wrestling Federation is my backyard, Fyre, and I'm the only dog big enough to patrol it! Ricky Fyre got what he wanted...he's got a shot at my United States title...he's driven a wedge between myself and Piper. But the thing is Fyre, this dog doesn't take kindly to someone else barking. You see Fyre, this Sunday night I'm going to walk to the ring wearing the United States title and I'll be walking out wearing that same golden belt. I might be bandaged up, bruised and bloody but there is nothing you can do to stop me chewing you up and spitting you out.

Deny it all you like, but I know the truth. You can hit me from behind every week until Christmas day but the only thing that will do is make me more determined to show you, and anyone out there doubting Silva Dolla, just exactly who is the boss in these parts. Bringing my sister in is just low, Fyre, and I don't appreciate you messing around with my family. Fortunately, Piper's a smart girl and once I've knocked you from one corner of the ring to another she's going to realise just how big a loser you really are!

JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX

Everybody keeps saying that we are four days away from the first PPV of 2013, we are four days away from the Battle For Los Angeles, we are four days away from seeing someone get a World title shot. Well that's all talk. I won the first ever Battle For Los Angeles in 2008 and went on to become the AWF World champion 11 months later. I have the experience winning the Battle For Los Angeles, I have the experience of winning the AWF World title. So while Towerblock and Timothy Hawk and Mountain Albert are fighting for the gold, all they will really be doing is keeping it warm for me. Four days time...it's PPV time, and it's time I became the first ever TWO-TIME Battle For Los Angeles winner!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Jean-ClaudeGiroux.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VS.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/WilsonHancock.jpg

“Parisien Playboy”
JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX vs
“Every Woman's Dream”
WILSON HANCOCK
w/Adrienne

-A year ago these two were engaged in an excellent feud over Adrienne, and while a victory at the Battle is now Giroux's main concern, he did flirt with Adrienne throughout this match.

-Wilson Hancock has had something of a rollercoaster 2013, winning, losing, winning again and unfortunately for the self-professed “Every Woman's Dream”, this week it was time for trip back down.

-After seven minutes of excellent wrestling from both, Giroux secured what was really a fairly comfortable win with a
Playboy Press (Lifting Spinebuster)
.

YOUR WINNER IN 7:10...JEAN-CLAUDE GIROUX!

“The Devil's Nightmare”
CORE vs
“Eighth Wonder Of The World”
TOWERBLOCK

-Two giants going head-to-head in a PPV calibre match was going to bring high expectations, and this match delivered, at least up until the ending.

-There was no suggestion of scientific wrestling, rest holds or submissions as these two men punched, kicked and threw each other around the ring for more than fourteen minutes.

-With the Battle For Los Angeles just a few days away, Core was looking to keep his momentum going into the battle royal itself, while Towerblock was hoping for a victory before his title shot in the main event.

-In the end, one could argue both kept their momentum intact.

-At the fourteen minute mark AWF World champion Mountain Albert made his way to the ring with a lead pipe in his hands.

-The fans thought he was going for Towerblock, but his first victim was the referee! With the official out, Albert and Core went to work on Towerblock who fought back valiantly, ripping the weapon from the champion's hands and turning it against him!

-But with the official knocked out, and no replacement appearing to be on their way, the ring announcer had no choice but to call for a no contest!

NO CONTEST VIA DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION IN 14:09

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/MountainAlbert_zps6bcab341.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Core.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Towerblock.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/TimothyHawk.jpg

[With the match declared a no contest, it was no surprise to see the three giants of the AWF continue their savage brawl in the centre of the ring. The enormous size of Towerblock somewhat mitigated the fact he was outnumbered, but inevitably he was overpowered within minutes...only for Timothy Hawk to come to the rescue! Taking down Albert, then Core, then Albert, then Core, Hawk turned the tables back in Towerblock's favour and the two babyfaces ended up clearing the ring in style. As we headed for our final ad break, Mountain Albert and Core headed, uneasily, towards the back as Towerblock and Timothy Hawk stared each other down in the ring...]

IN-RING

[After the mess has been cleared, and the four wrestlers have headed backstage, “The Man In Charge” Casey Skym comes down to the ring to make his big reveal...]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/CaseySkym_zpsb55e396e.jpg

CASEY SKYM

That's right, it is that time of year again. In just four days time the first PPV of 2013, Battle For Los Angeles, will take place in the Thunderbird Centre in LA. It is, however, the first time that this man right here, as “The Man In Charge”, has had the privilege of announcing the names of the twenty participants for the Battle For Los Angeles match itself. For anybody new to the idea, the Battle For Los Angeles is a twenty man, over the top rope battle royal with timed entrances 90 seconds apart. Two men will begin the match and only one man can survive. The winner of the contest will receive an AWF World title shot at any point they choose, regardless of the current rules on #1 Contenders. So, without further ado, the wrestlers who have earned their place in the battle royal are shown in alphabetical order on the screen behind me...

Alberto Marchena Jr, Bryce Christensen, Core, Derrick Rollins, ????, ????, ????, Herculez, Jean-Claude Giroux, Joe Havanna, Johnny Hollywood, Luke Graves, Marco De Francesco, Marshal Law, Mitch Mulconry, Omri Stone, Revolver Binx, Theo Barkley, Vincent I Parker, and Wilson Hancock!

You'll notice a few blanks in there. It wouldn't be the Battle without a few surprises! One of these men WILL get a shot at becoming the AWF World champion. It is just four days away – can you afford to miss it?!

IN-RING

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/CaseySkym_zpsb55e396e.jpg

[Casey Skym opened the show by cutting a promo hyping this PPV as a huge event in the AWF calendar. Reminding fans that this was just one of four PPVs taking place, Skym sold the event as pivotal in the evolution of the Awesome Wrestling Federation. Running down the card, Skym hyped the various title matches as well as the Battle For Los Angeles match itself.]

RICKY FYRE vs SILVA DOLLA ©

-A strong opening match saw two bitter rivals go head-to-head for the United States title.

-Fyre started the strongest, attempting to capitalise on Dolla's seemingly weekly attacks at the hands of a mysterious individual.

-Dolla, however, seemed to gain strength every time Fyre attacked him and that fighting spirit proved to be the decider.

-A
Dolla Sign (Package Piledriver)
in the fifteenth minute of the match was enough to bring it to a close and ensure Dolla lived up to his promise to leave as champion!

YOUR WINNER IN 15:15 AND STILL AWF UNITED STATES CHAMPION...SILVA DOLLA!

[Ricky Fyre, however, was not impressed and he snatched the title belt from the referee's hands and nailed Dolla with it. Stomping the champion in the centre of the ring, Fyre took out all his frustrations on the man from Harlem until...Piper came running down to ringside. Hitting Fyre with an almighty slap, Piper James saved her brother from further attack and dealt Fyre a second blow – he leaves with neither the belt, nor the girl!]

SUMMER vs DANI ©

-Two friends did battle in an uncertain title match.

-Initially neither Starlet wanted to hurt her ally, but after a couple of slaps any signs of friendship went out of the window!

-Not the classic many were expecting, Dani and Summer still managed to show why they were in the upper reaches of the division.

-A
HOLLER! DDT
from Dani put her friend down for the three count and secured the night's second successful title defence.

YOUR WINNER IN 7:40 AND STILL AWF STARLETS CHAMPION...DANI!

SEATTLE CADE vs LEROY WINTERS

-The show's throwaway midcard match was most notable for two things; Leroy Winters winning and Seattle Cade debuting on-screen.

-The former Club and SWA star fought well, but Winters finally got the result his performances have deserved with a
Long Winter's Rest (Sleeper)
submission.

YOUR WINNER IN 6:02...LEROY WINTERS

BATTLE FOR LOS ANGELES

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/BattleForLA.jpg

Featuring...Alberto Marchena Jr, Bryce Christensen, Core, Derrick Rollins, ????, ????, ????, Herculez, Jean-Claude Giroux, Joe Havanna, Johnny Hollywood, Luke Graves, Marco De Francesco, Marshal Law, Mitch Mulconry, Omri Stone, Revolver Binx, Theo Barkley, Vincent I Parker, and Wilson Hancock!

Opening

-Marshal Law and Bryce Christensen were the unlikely competitors to open up the match, but there were a further three entrants before the first elimination occurred. Marco De Francesco was dumped mercilessly out of the ring by Omri Stone and Revolver Binx, the former of which then took a dropkick from Bryce Christensen and tumble out of the ring himself!

The First Surprise

-The first surprise entrant came in at number nine, by which time only Revolver Binx, Marshal Law, and Bryce Christensen were remaining in the ring from the preceeding eight. The country music theme roused a few fan's memories, but it was the sight of the slightly slimmed down cowboy that really had the fans shocked. It was the returning Eli Walker! Walker eliminated Bryce Christensen mercilessly to announce his return to the AWF as a heel.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/EliWalker.jpg

The Next Surprise

-By the time the countdown for entrant #13 had begun the wrestlers in the ring were Eli Walker, Vincent I Parker, Theo Barkley and Joe Havanna. This surprise was another returning superstar...Garrett South! Beefed up since his last appearance several months ago prior to injury, South looked like a monster as he flattened everybody in his path.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/GarrettSouth.jpg

Cutting Down The Contenders

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Jean-ClaudeGiroux.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/EliWalker.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VincentIParker.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Core.jpg

By the time the nineteenth entrant, Jean-Claude Giroux, entered the ring the remaining wrestlers were few and far between. With the exception of Giroux, the remaining surprise wrestler, Eli Walker, Vincent I Parker and Core, the ring was empty and the brawl that erupted in the centre of the ring was as exciting as any Battle For Los Angeles in recent memory. But, there was still one surprise left in store...

The Final Surprise

During the match the hype video featuring a Mexican village and a countdown was played, only rather than days, hours and minutes, the remaining time on the clock was just a matter of seconds....and when the time ran out a huge murmur spread across the arena as the name El Extraordinario flashed up on the huge screen above the stage. Most fans failed to recognise the name, but once the superstar stepped out onto the stage they did recognise his face...it was PWI's El Estandar! Using a new name, El Extraordinario charge into the ring and eliminated Eli Walker with his first move. Much to the amusement of the audience, however, El Extraordinario also managed to eliminate himself when his eager clothesline sent him crashing to the mat beside Walker.

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/ElEstandar.jpg

The Final Three

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Jean-ClaudeGiroux.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/VincentIParker.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Core.jpg

Vincent I Parker, Jean-Claude Giroux and Core fought tooth-and-nail to earn a shot at the World title but only one man would be victorious. Giroux was eliminated next after Parker and Core formed an unlikely alliance against the Frenchman. The following contest for first place was a small wrestling match in itself, and it took a
Korah's Parable (Elevated Powerbomb)
from Core to decide matters and allow him to eliminate Parker!

YOUR WINNER IN 44:51...CORE!

[With the victory his and a future shot at the AWF World title secured, Core celebrated in the centre of the ring while the audience booed, jeered and threw any objects they had to hand at the monstrous masked man. Core, it seems, was uninterested in the crowd's reaction and seemed to be pleased with himself, at least that's what fans could gather from his body langauge!]

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Divider_zps660c8e7a.jpg

[A short video played before the main event hyping the feud between the three men. Featuring action, matches and interview segments from Shockwave, the package did an excellent job of recapping just exactly how we got to the Battle From Los Angeles from the surprise World title victory of Mountain Albert in December 2012]

AWF WORLD TITLE MATCH

TOWERBLOCK vs TIMOTHY HAWK vs MOUNTAIN ALBERT ©

-The main event was a fantastic spectacle, featuring three of the biggest names in the AWF.

-Whenever one of the three looked to take charge his two opponents took him out, ensuring that the match lasted over twenty gruelling minutes without anyone in any sort of real control.

-With his belt on the line and the knowledge that he didn't even need to be pinned, Mountain Albert looked determined to beat both of his opponents, while Towerblock and Hawk were happy to take their opportunities wherever they fell.

-The ending came about in understandably controversial terms when Towerblock accidentally took out the referee.

-The giant (and the referee behind him) were stuck in the corner and provided a perfect opportunity for Mountain Albert's
Mountain Top Splash (Running Corner Splash)
finisher. Without a referee, however, the pin wasn't going anywhere and Albert had to turn back to Timothy Hawk.

-Without a referee Nikita's conniving began, and she grabbed the World title belt and crept into the ring looking to waffle Hawk with the gold...

-...only for the babyface to duck and Nikita ended up taking out her own client, World champion Mountain Albert! Timothy Hawk went for the cover but there was still no referee...

-...until Casey Skym arrived from the back in a striped referee's shirt! Casey Skym counted out the pin...

1.....2......3! We have a new World champion in Timothy Hawk!

YOUR WINNER IN 21:49 AND NEW AWF WORLD CHAMPION...TIMOTHY HAWK!

http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/TimothyHawk.jpghttp://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx181/jhdTEW/AWF%20Diary/Cards/Core.jpg

[Timothy Hawk grabbed the title belt and headed to the top turnbuckle where he held the gold aloft for his cheering fans. Hawk looked elated at his victory, a hard-fought one at that, but his elation didn't last for long. Without music to accompany him, the monstrous Core managed to sneak up behind the new World champion without being seen (despite the fans urging Hawk to turn around). Core pulled the champion from the top turnbuckle, slamming him into the mat in the centre of the ring. Roaring, Core picked Hawk back up and hit a savage Korah's Parable (Elevated Powerbomb) that looked to break the champion in half! As the show went off the air Core held the AWF World title high above his head while looking down at his fallen victim, a sign, perhaps, that change is afoot in the AWF!]

And there endeth the diary :D

Well, sort of, I'll also be doing the "Where things were going" posts but that was the final show and those posts will almost certainly overlap my next diary (a tease for which is on the previous page for anyone who might be interested).

Hope you all enjoyed the ride, thanks for predicting, commenting and reading! :)

Good show, jhd1! Quite a way to finish.

And the battle royal was a lot of fun to read. I've only written one that I remember and it was epic. I wonder if anyone actually read the whole thing.

Looking forward to your next project.

:)

Dammit, I wanted to debut the Chatterboxes! :p

Hell yes, I did, too.

Thanks NoNeck! The Battle Royal was fun to write, although I must admit that I deliberately avoided going into too much detail and then worried it might not make sense!

Hell yes, I did, too.

Glad everyone seems to like Chatterbox. I always felt it was a bit odd seeing ThunderVerse diaries using twitter (although there's nothing actually wrong with it, of course). MJStark and I have managed to come up with a few other ThunderVerse-specific websites that will almost certainly appear in some form or another. :)
