So with the first month of the CCW season just finished I thought it would be a good time to summarise what has happened into one short recap.

page provides links to all the months shows and includes the 'TCW vs CCW Era'.

CCW Undisputed Title Picture

Golden Rock was the first man to challenge Rick Law for his title after winning a number one contendership match against Wolf Hawkins. It wasn't an easy month for Rock, but he went into the Independence Day looking strong and ready to take the belt. Questions marks hung over the match however, mostly due to Tommy Cornell announcing that he would be present at ringside. The supposed reason was to support his friend Rick Law and to simply enjoy a good view of the match... some believed that he was there to ensure Law got the job done, others even rumoured that Law could be his target. In the match itself a perfect opportunity arose for Cornell to put into action either plan when the referee was knocked out. Surprisingly though, and to Law's anger, Cornell simply did nothing. This gave the challenger the chance to lift Rick up into The Golden Rack, Law was beat until a mysterious man hopped the baricade and intefered. The man was recognisably from the Supreme Wrestling Federation and was refered to as The Enforcer by the CCW announce team. It wasn't entirely clear if Law himself had planned this, he looked as surprised as everyone when the referee lifted his arm in victory.

Will Law forgive Cornell for not helping him win?

Was the Champ in on The Enforcer's plan?

What will Golden Rock have to say about the match?

The month also ended with Sammy Bach defeating Bryan Vessey in a number one contendership match. The two had scored will throughout the month but Bach got the edge at the PPV and will go on to face Rick Law next month.

United States Title Picture

American Buffalo is an intimidating champion, however what has become clear this month is that Floyd Goldworthy is also a factor in his success. On numerous occasions the fast buck has anything he deemed neccesary to help his client win. After defeating both members of The New Wave on seperate occasions he now needs only to defend his title 3 more times before he can cash it in for a shot at the Undisputed Title.

How will Floyd be feeling after being put through the table by The New Wave?

Who will be the next challenger for the belt?

Will Buffalo remain on track to claim his five victories?

The Downfall of Wolf Hawkins

Each month, whoever ends the 4th Showdown of the month in last place must fight for his place in the league at the PPV. Hawkins began the month one of the favourites to end the month top but a huge change of fortunes left the former World Champion in final place. It wasn't neccesarily his talent that has been called into question but his desire to win and willingness to play by the rules. Jay Chord presented a tough challenge at Independence Day but Wolf mananged to get the all important win to stay in the league.

Will Wolf learn to adapt in order to find success in the league?

Who will end October in bottom place?

Who from Scars and Stripes will get their shot at the PPV?

Other goings on

CCW is filled with men striving to climb the league and find success. A bunch of three realised that teaming up could present an easier way to do this. The Canadian Animals offered their services to Joey Minnesota and since then it seems their partnership has gone from strength to strength including an impressive win at Independance Day. Some men however don't care much for making friends, Eddie Peak has been relatively quite this month but has promised to make an impact in October but in such a competitive environment he may have to get his hands dirty to do this, unfortunately for the rest of the roster it is clear that Peak is more than ready to do so.

What does Peak have in mind when he states he is going to make an impact?

What is next for Koshiro Ino after his loss to Minnesota and the Animals?

Which member of CCW will impress in October?

Tune in for October where these questions will be answered
.

United States Title: American Buffalo vs Benny Benson

Taking little rest after defending the title against Finch at Independence Day, Buffalo attempts to make it 3 out of 5 on his quest to challenge for the Undisputed Title. Apparently it was Floyd Goldworthy himself who asked for this match, presumably viewing Benson as an easy target for his client.

The New Wave vs The Tag Team Specialists

As CCW's Tag Team belts are defended exclusively on Scars and Stripes their isn't the deepest of tag divisions in The League. These two however are an impressive exception and tonight battle it out for bragging rights of the best tag team in The League.

Edd Stone vs ???

After being part of the winning team at Independence Day, Edd is on a roll. Will this continue against a mystery opponent?

Tommy Cornell vs Freddy Huggins

Freddy won't be too used to fighting in the last match on the card but on Showdown he gets a rare chance to prove himself. Cornell must be a clear favourite but might currently reside on Rick Law's hit list after what occured at the PPV.

Bonus Question 1:
What match will be scored match of the night?

<hr color=" black">Quick Picks

United States Title: American Buffalo vs Benny Benson

The New Wave vs The Tag Team Specialists

Edd Stone vs ???

Tommy Cornell vs Freddy Huggins

Bonus Question:

*With a new month begins a new prediction contest. Once again the winner of the monthly contest will win a 1 point head start for the next PPV.

Just a little question, at the moment the winner of the monthly prize gets a headstart for the PPV, and the winner of the season long PPV contest wins a big booking decision. Who do you think should I give monthly smaller prizes? the winner of the monthly Showdown contest, or to who gets the most at the PPV? Any opinions?

I don't like to bump a thread for reasons such as this but I feel the need to let people who have predicted know that I plan on ending Capital City Wrestling. It's a real shame especially because of all the planning I did (the whole 5 month TCW diary was all just in preperation for this, and then I have the next year or so planned out in quite some detail) and for the fact that it barely lasted long at all!

But I'd like to apologise for those who have taken time to both follow it, predict on it, and even nominate and vote for it in end of the month awards. What I will do however is reveal what my future plans were...

In terms of the predictions you all just picked the next show had American Buffalo defending against Benson, The Tag Team Specialists defeated The New Wave and then a tournament began to see who would be the special guest referee in the Law vs Bach title match. The Enforcer defeated Edd Stone and then Tommy Cornell defeated Freddy, so I believe the three predictors all drew on 4 points each as you all got the matches correct but the MOTN was the tag match.

Long term the plan for the main event was for Law to defend against Bach. Meanwhile Eddie Peak made light work of Golden Rock which prevented him from getting any revenge against Law or The Enforcer. Bach would also be cheated out of his victory but again next month Eddie Peak would randomly attack Bach to keep him from Law. Then after Law had retained for a third time, Peak would come down and tell him he has done all that Law asked for and now he wants his return favour. Law would grant it him only for Peak to reveal he wants a shot at the title.

Eventually Peak would become champion and really rule over CCW for a few months. Whilst all this was going on the rivalry between Rick Law and Tommy Cornell would slowly heat up, I think the original plan was to keep that going until one big match at Magnus Opus (season finale) although that might have been brought forward.

Wolf Hawkins was going to be the man to stop American Buffalo from defending the US title 5 times, Wolf would feel that the belt was below him but would begin to realise that he had to work within the CCW system to get a title shot. Wolf would beat Buffalo but perhaps the very next week the Animals would help Joey Minnesota take the belt off him. Joey would then be the first person be able to defend the belt 5 times. This earned him a title match whenever he wanted a la money in the bank. He would then cash it in a lot like Edge did in 06 after some gruelling match between Eddie Peak and Koshiro Ino.

Eventually the first season was set to end with Law vs Cornell and Joey Minnestoa vs Wolf Hawkins vs Eddie Peak for the title.

Having said all that, I had recently offered a contract to Steve Frehley. If he accepted that I'm sure some plans would have been changed.

In terms of reasons for ending it the main one was that I felt CCW needed to have nice presentation and relatively long writeups in order to do it justice. It was also all about there being 18 men battling it out so unlike a normal promotion I wanted to try and not simply focus on the main event but give some depth to characters throughout the card. Ulitmately I think it was just a bit much and I kept getting burned out. I do have a few plans for future things which may get started sooner rather than later however I want to ensure I have plenty of shows written out first before anything properly begins.

Thanks!
