The Clippers see three of their top players walk out and only get one in return so I guess that means they won’t make the playoffs this year. The biggest winners this off-season are the Chicago Bulls however. They re-signed Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen for seven more years and will probably get close to a few championships during that period.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I decided to pursue the top players first, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler, Reggie Miller, Terry Porter and Kenny Smith. Smith immediately accepted and the others all re-signed with their former team. Smith is definitely a top-notch point guard and is still very young. He averaged 23.6 points, 6.9 assists last season. He had a Fg% of .457 and 25.4 PER. If he keeps up those numbers that would be great.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i232/tRyPi0/FBPB3/Minnesota%20Timberwolves/1991-1992/Players/11_TrentTucker_zps5508c53c.gif</span></p><p> </p><p>

Like I said, I needed backup for Joe Dumars. Tucker is as good as it gets for a backup player. I felt he came quite cheap for a man with his skills. I hope he delivers me some good minutes off the bench along with a couple of steals.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i232/tRyPi0/FBPB3/Minnesota%20Timberwolves/1991-1992/Players/2_BillWennington_zps91f5439a.gif</span></p><p> </p><p>

Brad Lohaus decided to walk out on me and go to Philadelphia, so I had to pick the best of what was left in the pool. That was Bill Wellington. He didn’t play much the last two seasons at Dallas, but given his stats he should at least be decent on defense.</p><p> </p><p>

<hr/></p><p>

<span style="font-size:14px;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Other news</span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

- I decided to waive John Long. He was unhappy here and would be bad for team cohesion. I tried trading him, but no one really wanted him. He was claimed by Portland two days after and signed a one-year deal for $300.000. It will probably be one of his last as he’s 35 years of age.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Damn, Kenny Smith's a nice pick-up! You've got yourself a nice little nucleus but hopefully you still get a high-enough draft pick in 1995 to get KG <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I'm excited for this season, I think Minny's gonna make some noise (at least out west) <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

An improving Coleman, Larry Johnson (who was the #1 pick in real life), Dumars, and Kenny Smith, with West and Chris Jackson (he changed his name in '93) coming off the bench looks like a 50 win team to me. Granted your team is a bit small with LJ playing the 4 at a generous 6'7", and Coleman at 6'10" 230 is really more of a 4, but both are very good rebounders so only teams with elite centers will really make you pay. Your team's defense is also probably not going to be great, but if you can be league-average, that's a playoff team.</p>

Compared to last year I’m a bit weaker at Center due to Brad Lohaus leaving me, much better at Power Forward, thanks to Larry Johnson, a tad weaker at Small Forward due to lack of depth, better at shooting guard and much better at point guard. All in all I think we’ve improved again during this off-season. Having Tony Campbell perform at the same level as the last two years will be crucial.

<hr/>

Pre-season Results:

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i232/tRyPi0/FBPB3/Minnesota%20Timberwolves/1991-1992/Other/2_PreSeason_zpsa472bbe1.gif

Disaster struck the first minute of the first match… Star signing Kenny Smith broke his foot and will be out for 62 days, which means we won’t be able to use him during the first month and a half of the regular season. Thankfully I decided not to trade Pooh Richardson away. There could be worse stand-ins than him.

Other than that I’m slightly unhappy with the results. At least we defended our home court against teams we can beat. Golden State is a great team, so I don’t pay much attention to that loss. I’m happy with the performances Larry Johnson has put in by the way.

<hr/>

Other trades:

POS Player (Minutes - Points - Rebounds - Assists - Turnovers - Steals - Blocks)

LA Lakers trade C Vlade Divac (29.3 - 11.2 - 8.8 - 1.5 - 1.6 - 0.8 - 1.3) to New Jersey.

New Jersey trade PG Mookie Baylock (38.6 - 17.8 - 4.8 - 6.3 - 3.7 - 2.2 - 0.3) to LA Lakers.

LAL got Luc Longley in the draft and I guess they wanted to make room for him. I don’t know why they got a point guard however with Magic Johnson still being around… New Jersey had a spare PG as they drafted Terrell Brandon with the 6th pick. He has lots of potential. New Jersey is a force to be reckoned with and will get very close to the playoffs.

Chicago trade SG Bobby Phills (rookie) to Miami.

Miami trade C Bison Dele (rookie) to Chicago.

An extremely dumb trade by Miami if you look at it. They had the 11th pick in the draft and decided to go with Bison Dele. Now they traded it for the 15th pick, Bobby Phills. Looking at the rosters however this move did make sense. Chicago has no need of another SG as they have Jordan and Dell Curry. They lacked some solid big men and Dele could fill that void. Miami has one of the greatest starting lineups as possible at the moment (Ron Seikaly - Glen Rice - Craig Ehlo - Kevin Edwards - Sherman Douglas) and needed some backup for their back-court.

<span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Why?</strong></span></p><p>

I was completely fed up with Richardson at this point. He was shooting at awful 30.4% from the field and only had 3.7 assists per game. He’s only been my team leader in assists once this season during the 15 games that he started in. I had to include Abdelnaby and next year’s first round pick in the package for them to accept this trade. I could’ve included this year’s pick as well, but since I have a 4-11 record as I am writing this I don’t want to risk missing out on a good pick if this lackluster form continues. Murdock is a nice piece to have. I like the amount of assist he’s delivered in Orlando and his attributes are nice as well. He just can’t be worse than Richardson. His cheap contract has lots of upside as well.</p><p> </p><p>

<hr/> </p><p>

<span style="font-size:14px;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Other Trades:</span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

<em>POS Player (Minutes - Points - Rebounds - Assists - Turnovers - Steals - Blocks)</em></p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Portland trade SF Lionel Simmons (35.0 - 12.5 - 6.4 - 2.1 - 2.2 - 0.5 - 0.5) to Chicago.</strong></p><p><strong>

Chicago trade PG B.J. Armstrong (36.4 - 18.2 - 4.3 - 6.3 - 2.2 - 0.9 - 0.2) to Portland.</strong></p><p>

<em>Somewhat weird trade by Chicago. Simmons isn’t bad, but trading away their starting PG for a backup SF is rather odd. Armstrong will be backup in Portland as well. They’ve got Terry Porter as a starter there.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Denver trade PG Michael Adams (35.6 - 17.1 - 3.0 - 6.5 - 2.9 - 1.9 - 0.1) to Chicago.</strong></p><p><strong>

Chicago trade SG Dell Curry (34.7 - 18.8 - 5.4 - 2.6 - 1.6 - 1.1 - 0.2) to Denver.</strong></p><p>

<em>Smart trade by both teams. Chicago needed a new PG since they traded away Armstrong and they’ve improved themselves I would say. Dell Curry was rotting on their bench and will make a fine addition to the Denver Nuggets. He won’t get a ring, but at least he’ll be a starter. They traded away Adams because they had to make room in the starting lineup for Gary Payton.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>San Antonio trade 1992 1st round pick to Sacramento.</strong></p><p><strong>

San Antonio trade PG Elliot Perry (21.6 - 7.9 - 1.7 - 2.7 - 2.5 - 1.2 - 0.1) to Sacramento.</strong></p><p><strong>

Sacramento trade PG Greg Anthony (35.4 - 11.8 - 4.1 - 6.4 - 2.8 - 2.0 - 0.1) to San Antonio.</strong></p><p>

<em>San Antonio has a good team now and should really be making the playoffs. Getting Greg Anthony is an improvement over Elliot Perry, so if their goal is to make some kind of run this year they’ve found a good deal. Sacramento is a losing team in rebuild mode, so an additional first round pick is very nice for them. The first thing they’ll have to look for is an improvement over Perry during the offseason as he’s their starter at the moment.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Washington trade C Wayman Tisdale (36.7 - 23.1 - 8.9 - 1.9 - 2.0 - 0.5 - 1.3) to New York.</strong></p><p><strong>

New York trade SG Gerald Wilkins (39.1 - 15.3 - 6.1 - 3.2 - 1.6 - 1.2 - 0.4) to Washington.</strong></p><p>

<em>Bad move by Washington. It makes no sense at all to trade away a top 15 Center on a 5 year contract for an average Shooting Guard on a 1-year contract. Good piece of business by New York who have an underperforming elite team. They’ll probably let Tisdale or Ewing start at PF since they don’t have a good starter at that position.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sacramento trade SG Marcus Liberty (20.4 - 7.2 - 3.5 - 0.9 - 1.1 - 0.9 - 0.2) to Portland.</strong></p><p><strong>

Portland trade PF Cliff Robinson (28.2 - 11.7 - 5.8 - 1.7 - 1.5 - 0.7 - 1.1) to Sacramento.</strong></p><p>

<em>Good deal by Sacramento: They get a relatively cheap starter for a less than average SG that had a bigger contract. I don’t understand Portland doing this. They now lack a starting caliber PF and already had five guards on their bench.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Talk about a dissapointing season… I don’t really know what’s wrong. All my starters are putting up decent numbers. Kenny Smith being injured the first 23 games proved to be really bad for business. Pooh Richardson was really screwing things up the first 15 games and after that Eric Murdock didn’t really have the time to settle in. We were 4-19 (.174) without Smith and 9-19 (.321) with him, and that’s quite a big difference. The upside of this awful season is that I might get (yet another) great draft pick. If I get really lucky I could get Shaq, Alonzo Mourning or Christian Laettner. </p><p> </p><p>

As you can see there’s only one team doing worse than us: Orlando. They were nearly a .500 game last season. Other than that, Boston, New York and both Los Angeles teams are performing below expectations. Washington, Miami and Philadelphia have improved a lot.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

Eric Murdock, what a name out of the past. He was the man when I was in Junior High School, I lived five minutes down the road from Providence College. So when I was a kid I sort of lived for PC basketball.

He spoke at my Middle School when I was in 8th grade.

What does any of this have to do with your diary?

Nothing, but I still think that it is pretty cool that you brought him over to the Timberwolves.

Cool story, bro :p Seriously though, it's little comments like this that makes writing diaries worthwhile (for me, at least).

What does any of this have to do with trypio's diary?

Nothing, but we've got to talk about SOMETHING while the Wolves are tanking for KG :D

Indeed. The conversations here are more interesting than the matches I'm playing at the moment anyway. :)

I've never bothered to mosey on over to this section because I don't have the game, but I haven't read a good basketball dynasty in a while. A quick run-through and this looks pretty good! I'm gonna give it a more comprehensive read sometime soon, but keep it up. #SuckForKG

Yeah it's new coach finding time. Your defense must be incredibly porous. You're giving up 120-130 points on a semi-regular basis. You're like a worse version of those Golden State teams, because they could actually outscore teams while giving up 120 points.
