Looking for a good PC Game

Im a PC game fan. I play console games on my PC as a test run before I buy them on consoles.

I loved Far Cry 3 but my HDD died not far in. I like Tropico, Civ, Medieval Total War, Sims, Cities XLL.

I need something fun. Something that I can keep interested in. A.D.D has kicked my ass in the keeping interest part. I cant evn play TEW long before getting bored.

I need something. I love open worlds but my comp cant handle a Skyrim like game. I do have a wired controller so I can play games using a controller. I like RPG kinda games also.

Just Cause 2 on PC can be had for under $5, on sale for even less in some places. This is an open world action game, not PC intense, and it's incredibly fun. Not perfect but very good fun, and cheap!

Get yourself a steam account or a GOG account and check out their selection. If you're worried about your PC specs, Good Old Games is a great place because they sell older PC games for incredible prices.

I really dont know what your PC is like, and even if you listed specs I don't have the knowledge of hardware to tell you what games to buy and avoid. So I'm thinking no intense graphics here.

Also since you listed so much strategy: Crusader Kings 2

--This is an amazing game and not a huge load on your machine. GDS had a length thread in The Dog Pound discussing this game. It's not for everyone but it's an incredibly deep strategy game. Very steep learning curve though so it legit takes a commitment to learn. But it's worth it.

Some that I'm enjoying currently:

Fallen Enchantress - It's kind of an RPG/RTS/TBT game. It has elements of Total War, Civilization and Heroes of Might and Magic I guess. You play on a Total War style map (there are several different maps, of course) and settle new cities, build up your army (including levelling your heroes), and conquer enemy cities. The actual battles are fought on a tactical map (Might and Magic/X-Com style).

I really enjoy it, although I should point out that it's single-player only. Also, if you're looking at getting the game, get the 'expandalone' Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes instead, as it's basically the original game + more stuff (some of which is pretty cool); the only thing you'd miss out on by getting this is the original campaign (you only get the 'sequel'), but the campaign is fairly basic anyway and was kind of tacked on.

Kerbal Space Program - Excellent space sim where you build space rockets/shuttles and send them into space. You can go into ridiculous detail with what you build (you can set up networks of satellites and full moon missions/bases etc if you want, and have loads of missions running simultaneously (so for instance, if you put a satellite into orbit and land someone on the moon, then go and design a new rocket, the moon landing and satellite will still be there when you launch your new one).

Word of warning though; it's not very accessible. By which I mean to get the most out of it, you will have to have a decent understanding of physics. Not like, masters degree level or anything, but IMO you need a healthy interest in the subject. There are a plethora of Youtube channels dedicated to the game, so it's not a total dealbreaker if you don't know what 'apsis' or 'Delta-V' mean, but It's definitely a "simulation" rather than a "game". It is very, very fun though. Even if you don't know what you're doing, blowing stuff up due to incompetence is part of the charm. :D It's still in development, so they keep adding new stuff all the time, and are trying to add stuff like a Career mode (as opposed to sandbox) with objectives and stuff to make it more game-y. Definitely worth checking out the demo at least.

Orcs Must Die 2 - Not really related to anything on your list, but it's great fun nonetheless, and I can't see how your ADD can possibly affect you while playing it, because ADD seems to be somewhat of a requirement to play it well. :p It's essentially a third person tower defence game, where you place traps (your character also has a weapon) and have to stop Orcs from getting from A to B (usually several different As to several different Bs). Immense fun, especially in co-op.

Sanctum 2 - Orcs Must Die 2... IN SPACE! Basically. It's like "if Borderlands was also a Tower Defense game". Very similar to OMD, but with futuristic stuff. Pretty cool, but you probably don't need both games as they are very VERY similar. Not to say that they're "clones" or that it's a bad thing or anything (Sanctum 1 actually pre-dates Orcs Must Die 1, but the sequel took longer), Sanctum is a sci-fi FPS/TD, while OMD is a fantasy TPS/TD (TPS being Third-Person Shooter). I personally prefer OMD, but Sanctum 2 is a very good game.

May as well hijack this thread. Can anyone recommend a good racing game?

A few requirements:

- Must be a "legit" racing game. Not necessarily F1 or touring cars or anything 'official', but nothing with powerups or guns or silly stuff. :p

- Must have damage models. As in, not bouncy cars that you can smash around, if I hit something I want my car to break and the performance to be affected (even if it's just a straight "you're X damaged so you go Y% slower").

- Must run on PC, preferably with keyboard (because I can't find my wireless controller's receiver ¬_¬) but gamepad only isn't a dealbreaker.

Any ideas?

You're kind of asking for a game that might be a little too realistic for being played with a keyboard tbh >_< - if you're really into racing games, you should perhaps consider buying a wheel. I have the Logitech G27 and it's absolutely awesome.

As for Fallen Enchantress - great game, much recommended!

A few games I'm currently really digging:

Project Zomboid: An isometric retro-looking zombie apocalypse sandbox survival rpg currently available on Desura (with Steam key to follow eventually for all buyers) for early alpha access. The devs listen very carefully to the community and fix bugs whenever they pop up as soon as possible with frequent updates. Despite being in alpha still, the game's playable just like that, but you'll have to like rogue like games - in PZ, you WILL die eventually, the question is when and how ^^. But its a very complex and deep game already and prolly the best survival game out there (it didn't inspire the DayZ mod for ArMA 2 for nothing).

Don't Starve: Another rogue game, but a finished one for ~13 bux on Steam. You're tossed into a Tim Burton-esque world by some strange guy named Maxwell and your goal is survival by any means possible (and to get revenge on him - eventually, should you find out just how ^^). Dangers lurk everywhere - and don't you forget to light the campfire at night! Brilliant game by the guys (Klei Entertainment) who already created another gem of a game...

...Mark of the Ninja: 2D stealth platform game and probably the best stealth game I've played so far, 2D or 3D. This is a can't miss I'd say.

I'm not "really into" racing games, just fancied playing one because I don't have a racing game in my collection and sometimes watching F1 on the TV I wish I did. ¬_¬

But yeah, maybe keyboard would be a bit difficult. Gamepad, then.

Edit: Ooh, GTR: Evolution has a demo

If you didn't play it when it came out, X-Com Enemy Unknown is a really good game you can get off steam. Its a reimagined version of the old XCom game, and has a really good tactical battle system.

Batman Arkham Asylum has been out for about a year but is an awesome game.

Outside of Crusader Kings II, I've also heard great things about Fallen Enchantress. Might not be your 'thing' though based on your description. Best try the demo first.

Look around at GOG.com; as someone recommended earlier. It's quite fun and cheap too.

If you're into those types of games, check out The Bridge. It's more puzzly than those, but a similar overall style.

Also MLT, have you played Bastion yet? If not, you really, really should. ¬_¬ I think you'd like it.

Also, System Shock 2 is on Steam now for £6.99. It's basically essential if you're even slightly interested in the Bioshock games, although it is aging a bit now so if you're the type that can't deal with dated graphics (nothing wrong with that...) then it's not for you.

I hate puzzle games. Not a fan of them at all. Ive been trying to list games I enjoy that are more PC instead of console.

I enjoy Tycoon games. Not like mega detailed. Something simple enough to grasp for someone with a decent brain ability. I enjoy Roller Coaster Tycoon, The Movie game. I enjoy like Medieval games.

Civ, Total War, ect but I want something with like a Character you control. Id like a medieval war game. Like a Medieval Total war but you play one guy on the battlefield instead of controlling the army.

Mount and Blade: Warband. I've been waiting to suggest it, and you described it perfectly. There's a definite learning curve, but it's an absolute blast once you get into it.

I think I downloaded that but it wouldnt play because of how slow it goes on my computer. Its a 1st person game right? If so it ran retarded slow. Like unplayable slow

Nope, it's third person. The map view is overhead and when you enter a battle/town/castle you control your character in third person while your army attacks behind you.

I think it was released in 2010, and it's an indie game that goes went for a realistic look, so it looks fairly dated, but it's extremely fun overall. Except for getting stuck with a lance in tournaments. That blows.

It's essentially the original with the addition of multiplayer, a new middle east style faction, and the ability to a bunch of political stuff, like influence other lords and marry into a bloodline to get where you want. Also, once you get big enough, you can capture castles and towns on your own and start your own faction.

M&B is not very accessible to normal gamers. Even I had trouble hanging on due to the game just throwing you out there. Never did more than a couple of stupid sidequests, but the game sounded like a dream come true. Did have a lot of fun with it though, but I'll play it later.

What is the best course to begin? Enlist in an army until you have some money? I never managed better than to train peasants.

Come to think of it: I never even finished the first quest (collect 5 men).
