So is anyone else playing this game?

I'm looking for others who have steam and want to maybe play. I've never gotten into the actual card game, but found this pretty fun. I beat Unregistered at a daily rate so I'm looking for new people. :)

If you are willing to play I'll add you to my steam list you can either post your username here or PM it to me. :p

Thanks in advance.

I know its weird asking someone to pay $20 for a game that's technically not even done yet... but i strongly advise you to pick up SolForge on Steam.

It seems to be fun and the game the Magic haters are going to. I like it... im more excited abotu whats comming. I haven't bought DotPW since the first one. Is this year worth it? I'm considering it.

I´m interested. I been thinking about trying Planeswalker ever since I first heared about it but never got through to actually try it. Used to play Magic Online a lot but had to quit when I realized that I put way too much money into it thanks to the fact that I started to like limited formats too much. :p

One question though, I know you basically choose one of the prebuild decks and play with it but when you get those extra prize cards can you actually remove cards from your deck or just add the extra ones? I remember reading that the first version didn´t let your remove cards and that kind of pushed me away from it but I haven´t followed the development after that. :)

Never mind, I tried the demo and you can indeed edit your deck. Even better there´s sealed mode on the game so I´m currently in progress to download the full version. :)

I likely try the single player modes first but I´m interested to play multiplayer too. My steam username is Zergon_81.

Any good?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Depends what you like really. If you like to build your own deck with hundrets of cards to choose from then it´s not for you as there quite limited options about how you can affect your deck. You basically get 60 card prebuild deck to start with (looks like you can get about 10 differend prebuild decks total by playing the campaing) and you can unlock additional 30 cards with each deck (you get one card everytime you win a game with the deck you play) so basically at the end, you have 90 cards (including lands of course) to build your deck from. There is a sealed mode though where you get certain amount of booster (think it was 6 or 7 boosters) + lands to form your deck something which I´m sure I will spend plenty of time considering how I favored limited formats in Magic Online. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I have been pleasantly suprised so far, the prebuild decks are decently build and AI is better than with any other card game I have played and has managed to give me a bloody nose few times already. Interface feels good as far as the playing goes but I could have used little differend interface on deck building, espesially with sealed decks. Small card pool will likely make this game repetitive after a while but with just 10$ I´d say it´s worth having. There´s a free demo on steam so I advice to try that first, it´s basically tutorial levels and one real fight with the first two prebuild decks you get but it´s gives a good idea about how the game plays. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>I've been playing Magic for more than a decade and have bought the Steam games as well, though the last installment just wasn't fun for me. It's all just the same decks again. Meh.</p><p> </p><p>

Solforge I've heard about for a long time already. Should give it a shot as soon as it's done.</p>

Magic is getting as bad as Madden these days. :/ "Hey, it's a new year. Guess that means we'll change the title of our game a bit and sell it again". Don't get me wrong, I bought 2013 and enjoyed it, it's a good implementation of the card game. But 2014 is *the same*. I know it kinda has to be, and is reflected in the price, but even so...

Also, it does that annoying thing where they bring out the 2014 version only-just-over half way into 2013. ¬_¬ Hate it when games do that.

I'm enjoying Scrolls at the moment. It's a CCG-based game but with tactical battle elements, sort of a cross between Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic. Haven't looked into SolForge but heard good things.

The sealed play thing makes it closer to real magic with deck building... Admittely, waiting a year for it to be fleshed out may be a good idea. I would not consider it as bad as Madden though, if for no other reason then its 10 bucks vs 60, and they did just add a major feature that can only get better. </p><p> </p><p> It's difficult to add much more to the game, then what they just did. They just need to flesh it out more and hopefully they will. As of now, it's still lots of fun for a cheap price.</p>

I was going to say that they could just keep making DLC for the existing game, but then realised it's pretty much DLC price anyway. ¬_¬ I don't know why it annoys me so much, as fundamentally it's the same as DLC. I guess because I have several games on Steam already where they're essentially DLC packs but are branded as separate games and take up extra space in my Steam list. I get a bit OCD about my steam list. :p

Mine is pretty easy to control. I have .... Four games. Isaac, Magic, Orgin Trail and Don't starve.

From a family of people who played the MAdden games RELIGIOUSLY I understand the point in the new year/ new game but nothing really new about the game rant. I never played the earlier versions of the Magic game so starting at 2014 was easy for me, but from what I'm reading...the cards haven't changed much except the Pathwalker...or whatever it's called cards are new. They released them in stores too. Then again DLC just to add those cards would be fine, if you just wanted to add them, but this way it gives a new set for people, and the game seems apparently to hters just a bit different in tearms of easy of use for new players.

<p>I'm supporting SolForge because it's somewhat different. To be fair, at the time I boguht it the Steam site was a little bti misleading. Thought I was getting a bit more game. I wouldn't pay the $20 they are asking for right now as you are essentially buying a demo. </p><p> </p><p>

It's still a pretty fun game though. I like what I'm being promised lol. Fulld eck customization, full campaign, online play, etc.</p>

<p>Well the final product will have full customizable decks, animated cards, trades with other players, online leagues, etc.</p><p> </p><p>

Right now... SolForge is a lane-based CCG. It offers a mild-to-medium strategy depth as would be expected with a game of this type. You cant do much right now except build decks with existing cards and play the computer, which is actually quite good considering it's essentially a beta.</p><p> </p><p>

So why buy a beta of what will be a free-to-play game? Simple. I followed this game since I first heard about it, watched it's development and when it hit steam I chose to support it. Simple as that. A bunch of these guys worked on Spectromancer which I love so I saw this as a more feature rich version of that game.</p>

<p>i supported it on Kickstarter as I enjoy CCG games , and digital ones are great as I rarely have someone to play against in person, and usually end up with a bunch of physical cards taking up space that never get used.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't think the game is revolutionary, but it is fairly easy to learn and provides some hidden strategic depth, and with the ability to play the ai or human opponents, provides easier access to game play than the standard CCG game does.</p><p> </p><p>

As for Plainwalkers 2014, I did purchase the two previous versions, but I found it somewhat limiting in terms of being able to build and customize decks, at least in the previous versions, and a lot of the ai duels were basically overcoming certain combos or challenges, that didn't change with that player.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't see much being different in the 2014 version so I havent bought it.</p>

<p>Not much love for Magic 2014 here, though I fully understand why. If I had bought one of the earlier versions I probably wouldn´t enjoy this as much but as someone who last played the game back in 2007 it´s nice blast from the past. Also since I like limited formats to begin with the limited deck customation is actually a selling point (as it the limited format itself though I haven´t tried it yet) to me at least for now and I really enjoyed tooling the red deck you get after beating the tutorial. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I´m always looking for new card games but I´m little wary of anything that requires you to buy booster packs after I lost so much money with Magic Online. I do own Spectromancer and enjoyed playing it and did follow Solforge when I first saw it but then just kind of lost interest. Might give it a look one day to see if it catches my interest again.</p>

I don't know the game Solforge but Brian Kibler was developing it so yeah. That guy is definetely a reference when it comes to cardgames. I'll probably check it out if it's not too much 'investment'.

All the decks for duels are the same. The only relatively 'new' one is the sliver deck, but that's just a basic tribal deck and becomes boring pretty quickly.

I suggest using the red deck as it's unlocked anyway from the start. If it's not for some reason, don't play it. It sucks. Even with the 30 plus cards, you can barely make a playable deck.

I picked the red deck as the first deck I use over the starting green and the white soldier deck just because I felt it was worst of the three and thus I wanted to see if I could make it better. :) I mean what an earth where all those 5+ mana creatures and spells doing in red aggro deck? I think I managed to make it decent deck, it likely won´t win much against decks with actual card synergy like the white soldier deck, slivers or Chant of the Mul Duay deck but I feel it now at least has a change of winning a game every once in a while.

<p>Yeah, sure, if you stick to the plan. I did include one or two of the 4/3's that double spell damage as those are still relevant imo (it's far from an aggro/burn deck in practice, though it should be like you indicated).</p><p> </p><p>

My favorite deck is the zombie deck I guess, though it's far from good. The ramp deck just stalls on endlessly if you fail to ramp well enough. But relatively speaking, they should all be good given that they're all shitty. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> But it's just most games drag on for too long.</p><p> </p><p>

I hope the next installment allows us to play planeswalkers. It won't compete with Online because of the fact that you could play some cards that aren't even played irl.</p>

<p>Oh I didn´t remove all of the 5 -6 mana spells either, actually I still have 5 cards with 5+ mana still in the deck (Magma Phoenix, that 6 mana giant, 2 lava axes and Cone of Flame). Not ideal by any means but I just found out that the deck runs out of steam before it could finish the opponent so I wanted to have few cards that could do the last few points of damage. Biggest suprise to me was Lava Axe since I never liked it but it had won more games than any other card for me so far. Didn´t include those 4/3 (Fire Servant) guys since I never had any luck with them, either I didn´t draw them or when I did I didn´t have any burn spells left or my opponent just killed it before I managed to use it´s ability. At the end I decided to rather take cards like Magma Phoenix and Lava Axe who don´t need any additional cards to be useful. </p><p> </p><p>

Games do seem to take some time to complete but overall I see that as a good thing since it means that those decks are pretty close to each other´s in terms of power level. Though admittably I have had way too many games where both me and my opponent are out of recourses and just seem to draw land after land from out decks. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Yeah I just don't like it. You make some just points on Fire Servant but in the end, it comes down to preference. If you think of it, Lava Axe also needs other cards to be useful, as it's basically pointless if your opponent is at 10 or something. Granted, if he is, you're probably going to lose at that stage. But I found that - at least in DotP - a creature can turn the tide just as easily when you're just topdecking, where an Axe will just do 5 and disappear. But its ability is crappy more often then not.</p><p> </p><p>

I did forget the phoenix, which is obviously a better card for the 5-slot at it can come back easily. Those recurring cards are a must for the red deck, as it runs out quickly like you indicate.</p>
