Think that might work better or be more effective?</p><p> </p><p> When I said tedious I didn't mean that I wasn't having fun doing it, I just wanted to make sure that everyone's getting a nice supplement of game information besides the shows. Which do you think would be better, the Power 25 or the Hot/Not thing?</p>

<p>The P25 is more of a fluff piece than anything, so if you've found it taxing, then drop it. You're the writer, we're just along for the ride <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Comment: <em>I'd like to see Shelton make a run for himself in the singles department. But I do like your strategy to get him to teach Mack a few things. I don't see them nabbing the titles though. Thou Shalt Not Nab the Titles from Da Dudleyz, I guess.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Spike Dudley vs. <em>(Christian's Associate)</em> w/Christian and Trish Stratus</p><p>

Comment: <em>Intrigued to see if it's Tomko or someone different.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Rob Van Dam</em> vs. A-Train</p><p>

Comment: <em>If Tajiri would start teaming with A-Train, you could start calling him the Orient Express, and they could be The Railroad Warriors.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Matt Cappotelli vs. <em>William Regal</em></p><p>

Comment: <em>Go Regal!</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Shawn Michaels</em> vs. Johnny Nitro w/Melina</p><p>

Comment: <em>By DQ or something, so that Johnny looks good.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Non-Title Match</p><p>

<em>Chris Benoit</em> vs. Randy Orton w/Triple H</p><p>

I like the Power 25, but maybe a 5 would be easier and better :)

However, I LOVE 'The Chosen Ones'... Burke was always severely underated in my opinion, and MVP/Jordan are both entertaining

WWE RAWMonday, Week 1, May 2004

The opening video plays featuring the Superstars that will be on the show tonight as Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler welcome the television audience to tonight's presentation of Monday Night RAW!

Jim Ross hypes the multitude of high-stakes action we’ve got for the audience tonight, and Jerry “The King” Lawler backs him up by saying how anxious he is to get started!

RATING: 80 (B)

Notes: None.

The Dudley Boyz © vs. Shelton Benjamin and Rodney Mack

In a Backlash rematch, Shelton and Mack put in another pretty good effort. However, this one also saw them come up short, this time with a 3-D to Rodney Mack.

RATING: 69 (C+)

Notes: 8:19. Shelton’s getting a little stale. D-Von Dudley’s in-ring skills seem to be getting better.

As Lilian Garcia announces The Dudleyz as the winners, “Line in the Sand” hits and Evolution interrupts the champions. Batista and Ric Flair hit the top of the ramp in suits, and Flair’s got a microphone.

http://i.imgur.com/5geaxxLs.jpg

“Enjoy those belts, boys, because you ain’t gonna be holdin’ em for long! You see, big Dave and I got caught up after you guys got lucky and beat us for those titles, but not no more, boys! Keep ‘em warm, baby, WOO!”

RATING: 81 (B)

Notes: Flair was good at improvising here.

In the back, Chris Benoit is standing with Jonathan Coachman, talking about his match tonight and challenge to Triple H.

http://i.imgur.com/eosSUO6s.jpg

“It doesn’t matter to me if I’ve gotta beat Batista, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, or anybody else in that locker room. You could put the entire roster in the ring with me and I will break them in half. If you get in my way, I will make you tap, and Randy, I hope you’re—“

Benoit notices someone walking towards him. They come into the frame – it’s Triple H himself.

http://i.imgur.com/f3EHQcJs.jpg

“You know, Benoit, you’ve got a lot of nerve. You were a second rate wrestler for 18 years, and you get a fluke win on SmackDown and you come over here like you run the show. Well I got news for ya, Chris. Over here on RAW, it ain’t you who runs the show, man. You see this big gold belt? This means that “The Game” is the man who calls the shots over here. You are nothing in my world, Benoit, and when you get in the ring with Randy Orton later, you’re gonna realize that you’re nothing compared to the greatness…of Evolution and the greatness…of Triple H.”

Benoit flashes a grin.

http://i.imgur.com/eosSUO6s.jpg

“Well Hunter, what’s gonna happen when I break Randy’s neck? And then at Vengeance, what’s gonna happen when I break yours and I make you tap out and I take that belt right from around your waist? You better prepare, because I’m gonna kick Orton’s ass and then I’m gonna kick your ass.”

RATING: 100 (A*)

Notes: None.

Spike Dudley vs. Tyson Rude w/Christian and Trish Stratus

Christian and Trish came to the announce table to commentate the match. Christian told the commentators that this man’s name is Tyson Rude, and he’s a friend of his from Toronto. He called him his “Problem Solver.”

Jim Ross put him over as reminding him of an Arn Anderson-style enforcer, and in the ring he took Spike Dudley out in a few minutes with a vicious clothesline to the back of his head, which Christian called the Northern Lariat.

RATING: 36 (D-)

Notes: 5:38. Trish and Rude have excellent chemistry, awesome. Tyson and Spike had pretty good chemistry, too.

____________________________________________

In the back, Todd Grisham is with Ernest Miller. “The Cat” has a message for the rest of the locker room, telling them that he hasn’t even gotten a shot on Monday Night RAW yet. Bischoff’s given him a chance to pick his opponent. He’s gonna fight someone next week, but he’s a karate master so he’s gonna choose his opponent wisely because there’s only a select few who are worthy enough to be in the ring with Ernest “The Cat” Miller.

RATING: 60 ©

Notes: None.

Rob Van Dam vs. A-Train

This match saw A-Train dominate most of it, but Van Dam was able to muster up the guts to claim the victory by hitting a series of kicks, Rolling Thunder, and then a Five Star Frog Splash.

RATING: 71 (B-)

Notes: 7:45.

After a commercial break, the ring is set up for the Highlight Reel, and Chris Jericho makes his way out to the ring.

http://i.imgur.com/dhDKZ5hs.jpg

“Hello and welcome to RRRAAAWWW…IIISSS….JERICHO!

The crowd cheers and Jericho pauses, smirking.

“For the first time in a long time and definitely not the last time, I’d like to welcome you to the Hiiiighlight Reel! My guest here tonight is one of the youngest superstars on RAW, and he’s the Intercontinental Champion! But not only is he the champion across continents, he’s also one of the biggest assclowns I’ve ever laid eyes on! But before we get to that, last week he attacked Chris Benoit from behind like a coward and jumped him with three other guys. Ladies and gentlemen please direct your attention to the obscenely expensive Jeritron 5000….roll the footage monkeys!”

Video footage from last week plays, where Orton flattens Benoit with an RKO and Evolution beats him down. We then go back to Jericho.

“So ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest…Randy Orton!”

Randy Orton makes his way out to the ring, not looking happy with his introduction. He gets into the ring and gets a microphone. Jericho asks him how he’s gonna beat Chris Benoit tonight.

http://i.imgur.com/DCSLsjNs.jpg

“How am I gonna beat Benoit tonight? Man I guess you took one too many shots in the head from Christian over the past couple weeks, ‘cause that’s a pretty stupid question. I’m gonna beat Benoit exactly how I beat Mick Foley at WrestleMania and Backlash. Just how I’ve beaten everyone who’s challenged for my Intercontinental Championship. By simply…being…better.”

Jericho doesn’t seem convinced.

http://i.imgur.com/dhDKZ5hs.jpg

“Heh, y’know Randy, that seems a lot like Daddy talking . How many times did papa Bob tell you ‘Hey son, you might have struck out four times, but you’re still the best baseball player I know!” or ‘Randy, if you don’t want to be in the Marines, just quit!’ or ‘It’s okay if you like boys, Randy, because I experimented back in the day too,’ huh?”

Orton, increasingly angry, stares down Jericho and drops the microphone. The two jaw for a bit until Orton throws a punch! Jericho and Orton struggle for a bit, but Jericho gets the upper hand after a bit. As soon as Jericho gets control, Christian and Tyson Rude hit the ring to come to the aid of Orton! Christian and Rude attack Jericho from behind and put him down, tossing him into the Jeritron 5000. Jericho stumbles backwards into the Unprettier as the two stand tall over Y2J, Orton walking to the back.

RATING: 72 (B-)

Notes: Rude kinda dragged the segment down. Orton was good though.

Matt Cappotelli vs. William Regal

In his in-ring return, William Regal made the former Tough Enough participant look like a rookie. The technician finished Cappotelli off with the Regal Stretch.

RATING: 50 (D+)

Notes: 5:50. They didn’t really click that well. Regal’s in-ring prowess has gotten better since we last saw him.

____________________________________________

Backstage, WWE Women’s Champion Lita is walking through the hallways, when she’s attacked by Molly Holly and an accomplice, who turns out to be Gail Kim! The returning Kim helps the former Women’s Champion beat Lita down backstage as they scratch and claw at her. After officials pull them away, Lita is in a crumpled heap, being tended to as we head to a commercial break.

RATING: 41 (D)

Notes: None.

____________________________________________

In the back, “The Coach” interviews Johnny Nitro, who is ready for his first chance to make a colossal impact on RAW by taking on Shawn Michaels. Melina is by his side.

http://i.imgur.com/BMY1ohPs.jpg

“Coach, the thing with this match is that I’ve got nothing to lose. I’m already the hottest star in Hollywood, and if Shawn Michaels thinks he can beat me, that’s fine. On the other hand, Shawn Michaels will lose a whole lot when he gets dropped by WWE’s hottest superstar. Are you ready, Shawn? Because it’s lights, camera, action right now and I don’t think you’re ready for Johnny Nitro.”

RATING: 76 (B-)

Notes: He improvised pretty well.

Shawn Michaels vs. Johnny Nitro w/Melina

Michaels saw himself down to the newcomer early, and Nitro played to the crowd like a true villain. However, a mental miscue saw Johnny Nitro come off the top rope and get blasted with Sweet Chin Music, “The Heartbreak Kid” picking up the win.

RATING: 62 ©

Notes: 9:28. This match was awkward and clunky, they didn’t have much chemistry. Michaels looked good though.

____________________________________________

As Nitro makes his way to the back, Shawn Michaels has his hand raised as the winner. Out of nowhere, flames explode from the turnbuckles and Kane makes his way to the ring. He shoves Nitro to the ground and Melina lets out a piercing scream. Michaels doesn’t know what to do, so as Kane slides into the ring, Michaels attacks! Kane quickly shrugs him off, however, and the tired Michaels is caught with Kane’s hand around his throat. Kane lands a big Chokeslam to “The Heartbreak Kid!” He lifts him up and hits another Chokeslam! Breathing heavily, Kane raises his arms and throws them down, fire exploding from the corners again!

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler question why Kane would assault Shawn Michaels as we go to a commercial break.

RATING: 90 (A)

Notes: None.

As we come back, JR and the King hype up an announcement that was just handed down by RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff. Next week, Christian and Chris Jericho will face off – inside a 15-foot high steel cage!

Notes: None.

Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton w/Triple H

Benoit’s gauntlet against Evolution continued here in the main event against the Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton. The match saw even action, but Benoit looked like a man possessed. He eventually mustered up the strength to lock Orton in the Crippler Crossface, but Triple H jumped in and broke it up! Benoit wins by disqualification, and has not beaten Randy Orton!

RATING: 86 (B+)

Notes: 11:10.

____________________________________________

The assault continues after the match is over. Triple H pounds on Benoit until Orton comes to, aiding “The Game” in his attack. The two put the boots to Benoit until Chris Jericho runs down to his rescue! Jericho chases off both Orton and Triple H, tending to Chris Benoit on the ground as the show ends!

RATING: 94 (A)

Notes: None.

Pretty predictable card it seems, but that's fine. Onward toward Vengeance on the RAW side.

Question: What do you guys think about having a King of the Ring at Great American Bash? It'd be both RAW and SD, and in storyline it'd be sanctioned by both the GMs as well as McMahon that the RAW guys show up on the SD pay-per-view. It'll be just the semi-finals for each brand and then the finals which would pit RAW vs. SD. Think that's good, or would it be best if it were its own PPV?

I would love, really love a KOTR, RKO. But i prefer it being on his own PPV rather than The Great American Bash. The KOTR in another PPV seems...well...not right to me.
