WWE 2004: The Hangover

I would love, really love a KOTR, RKO. But i prefer it being on his own PPV rather than The Great American Bash. The KOTR in another PPV seems...well...not right to me.

That's how I felt at first, but isn't there some sort of penalty for having two PPVs in the same month? I thought about having its own PPV but decided against it. I'd still like to have it though and I think I'm going to based on the general reaction so far.

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna go through with a KotR PPV. I'm almost at Vengeance and it would take a lot of re-routing to do so. Maybe I'll try and lay it out in a way where I can make it happen because I'd certainly prefer a PPV to just doing it at the Bash.

Edge is a broken man, a man who knows that if he ever steps foot in the same room as me I’ll break him and I will pummel him until he has to breathe through a tube. Now Brock Lesnar has no match for Judgment Day, so I have come out here to make my claim for the WWE Championship. I deserve a rematch for the WWE Championship that I never received because my schedule has now cleared up at Judgment Da--” “Never Gonna Stop” hits and the crowd explodes. Edge makes his return after a one-week absence, looking a bit banged up but without any neck brace or anything which would indicate serious neck damage. Yeah it’s true, I wasn’t in the building last week but that’s not because I didn’t want to come here and beat your ass all around the arena. It’s because doctors made me take a week off so I would be able to beat your ass all around the arena this week!” Brock smirks and the two jaw back and forth. Brock shoves Edge to the ground and as he gets up to attack, Paul Heyman’s voice is heard as he runs down the ramp with a microphone. He comes out with a crew of about six security members. He says that he will not have his main event tampered with here tonight, and he bans Edge from the arena! Edge fights off the security at first, but Brock cracks him over the back of the head with a microphone, leaving him ripe for the picking by the guards. They handcuff him and take him out of the building as we go to a commercial break. Danny Basham’s technical skills are getting better, ____________________________________________ After a commercial break, the theme music of the APA hits, and Ron Simmons makes his way to the ring. He gets a microphone. Simmons calls out Bradshaw, wanting to give him an apology for getting caught losing the match last week, and thus breaking up their long-standing tag team. Michael Cole commented that Chavo’s comments before the match may have been pre-emptive, but Tazz said that Chavo simply oozed confidence “like a true champ should, Cole”. Guerrero ended up not having to eat his words, finishing Scotty with the Gory Bomb. RATING: 58 (C-) Notes: 8:12. ____________________________________________ Scott Steiner makes his way out to the ring, already having a microphone from the back. Get your ass in this ring right now.” Steiner starts to taunt Tazz, who decides not to back down. The crowd starts to cheer as Tazz takes his headset off to step inside the ring despite Cole’s plea for him to sit back down. Steiner jumps on him, attacking him and wrenching his suit jacket off of him. Eventually, the lights go out. And The Undertaker will be judge…jury…and executioner.” As the lights come back on, Steiner is facing the ramp, calling the Undertaker out. From behind, Tazz locks him in the Tazzmission! Steiner wildly flails and finally gets out of it, scurrying to the back! He kicks the barricade and slams on the steps as Tazz resumes commentary. Steiner walks to the back. Henry caught him and slammed him, which changed the course of the matchup. Henry eventually smashed the referee in the corner on accident! As it was a beatdown for most of the match, Hardcore Holly came down to the ring to stop it. He bashed Henry over the head with a steel chair and pulled Mysterio on top for the slow 1-2-3 from the reviving referee! RATING: 62 © Notes: 8:12. I feel that you fans deserve a much better United States Champion than that hooligan John Cena!” The crowd boos heavily as Dupree smirks. “That is why, at the Great American Bash, I will defeat John Cena, and I will bring culture and worldwide respect to the United States Championship just as I bring culture and respect to the trashy American people simply by performing here in the WWE.” The crowd boos even louder, and Dupree soaks it up. “The United States Champion John Cena is just like all of you out here tonight. He is a loser. Last week he lost to Mark Henry, and every single week, the Americans lose because they have to watch him on their television screens. That is why once I win the United States Championship, I will rename it the WWE European Championship, the real premier SmackDown title. I will bring the championship to new heights!” “Basic Thuganomics” hits and John Cena comes out to the ring. He simply has one thing to say – that Cena’s gonna knock Dupree off his high horse right now. Cena clocks Dupree in the chin, sending the Frenchman back against the ropes. A couple of shoulder blocks ensue and Cena F-Us Dupree over the ropes to the floor! Dupree crawls up the ramp as Cena raises the United States Championship high! RATING: 81 (B) Notes: Man, it’s really hard to write in a French accent. Tazz hyped up both Brock and the Big Show, talking about how they are the two most dominant forces on SmackDown. Eddie found himself on the victims’ end of an attack as both big men isolated him throughout the match. Finally, after Eddie reversed a Big Show chokeslam and hit a Missile Dropkick, he crawled over to Angle. As Eddie neared for the tag, Kurt jumped off the apron! Eddie looked at him with a mixture of shock and fatigue as Brock was tagged in, grabbing Eddie. He continued the assault, hitting an F-5 and pinning the champion! RATING: 83 (B+) Notes: 12:22. Big Show was tiring. Angle’s brawling skills are getting better. ____________________________________________ After the bell rings, Brock continues his beatdown. With Edge banned from the building and Angle crouching on the ramp watching, nothing stops the assault. The Big Show gets involved as well, planting the WWE Champion with a Chokeslam. The crowd – and the commentators – are in shock as Kurt Angle watches a man who he proclaimed to be his friend get pummeled in the ring by the two largest and most powerful men on the roster. Cole and Tazz can’t believe what is happening as Brock and the Big Show stand over the fallen champion, and Angle flashes a devious smirk from the entranceway. Jim Ross hypes the cage match we’ve got tonight, and Lawler is a little bummed that we won’t be seeing Trish at ringside. They go over some of the other action and bring us into our first matchup. Conway’s improving in the ring. ____________________________________________ After the match, La Resistance is livid, and the two men beat down Val Venis in the middle of the ring. Grenier and Conway lift him up and hit the Au Revoir, leaving Val flattened in the middle of the ring. Ric Flair was on commentary with Batista next to him, and he trashed the Dudleyz the entire match. Eventually, Flair and Batista started to antagonize D-Von on the outside, which caught the attention of Bubba Ray. Losing his focus, Bubba Ray Dudley was hit with a rollup and Regal grabbed the tights for the win! RATING: 75 (B-) Notes: 8:18. Bubba Ray’s in-ring brawling and psychology are improving. ____________________________________________ After the match, Batista and Flair laugh at The Dudley Boyz, and the Dudleyz simultaneously hit each of them! They start to brawl, with Bubba and D-Von gaining the advantage. However, “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” earns his moniker, blasting D-Von with a low blow! He then moves over to Bubba Ray, helping Batista attack him. Eventually, Flair slaps Batista in the chest and tells him to get the tables! Both men are down and out as Batista sets up a large wooden table in the middle of the ring. Flair lifts up Bubba Ray and chops him up onto the table. He points to D-Von, and the monster Batista lifts him up and Powerbombs him onto his half-brother, sending both through the table! Evolution stands tall as the Dudleyz lie in a heap of splinters and wood like so many of their opponents have in the past! RATING: 82 (B) Notes: None. ____________________________________________ Todd Grisham is next in a dark recess of the arena, where the barely-visible Kane is breathing heavily and being creepy and weird as usual. Instead of getting attacked this week, Lita jumps when a woman walks up to her. An adoring fan, the woman asks Lita if she can get her autograph. Lita obliges and the fan thanks her. Benoit says that last week was a joke and both of them know it. He’s only here for one reason – to continue the beating he was giving Orton last week! He throws a punch, landing square on Orton’s jaw! A brawl ensues with Benoit taking it to both champions! They attack him as well, but Benoit is able to break at least even before referees pull the three men apart! While there seemed to be some tension rather than fluidity, there was no breakdown between the two of them. Johnny Nitro used his partner to his advantage, tagging him in whenever the going got rough. The match broke down, with Nitro and Van Dam getting into a brawl which took them over the barricade! In the ring, Kane took control. Instead of trying to win the match, Kane went outside and grabbed a chair, blasting Michaels over the head with it to get himself disqualified! After the match, Kane smacked Michaels in the back with the chair a series of times before leaving him in a heap in the ring. RATING: 78 (B) Notes: 12:11. There was nothing technical about this one, just a pair of rivals looking to physically harm one another. Christian did a number on Jericho in the early going after an eye rake. Later, Jericho was beating down on Christian when Tyson Rude and Trish Stratus hit the ringside area. Rude looked to break the padlock as Chris Jericho simply laughed. He put the boots to Christian and showed him off to his entourage as a trophy. Rude intimidated one of the referees and took the key to the cage, and as he was going to unlock it, Jericho hit a springboard dropkick to the door, swinging it open and sending Rude and Trish flying! As they tried to get in the ring, officials sent them to the back! With it a purely 1-on-1 match now, Jericho and Christian fought each other with everything they had. Christian ended up being bloodied by the cage, and Jericho continued to attack. He eventually hit the Lionsault and looked to walk out of the cage door. Out of nowhere, Randy Orton hit the ring through the crowd, slamming the door in the face of Y2J! Jericho stumbled backwards into Christian, who was getting up onto his feet, and Christian hit the Unprettier! With his opponent nearly unconscious on the ground, Christian crawled out the door and out to the floor for the win! The show ended with Rude and Trish dragging Christian to the back as Randy Orton stares down at Chris Jericho from the crowd, having successfully avenged his Highlight Reel embarrassment from last week!
