Often. But I do currently have the greatest Mexican company in decades, so I think that I ought to have an opinion worth hearing.

As is required law for any lucha libre article that might be published outside of Mexico, I want to talk about Electrico today. However, I will also be talking about Blood Raven. Why? These two have vastly different styles of arm drags, the ever-popular and ubiquitous lucha libre move.

Electrico uses a very deep arm drag. Watching him and other competitors, his is more of a "shoulder" drag, in the sense that he cinches the opponent shoulder-to-shoulder, rather than merely hooking the arm to be dragged. This results-or should I say, has resulted-in a move that historically is very difficult to counter. When Electrico wants to hit an arm drag, he typically lands the move.

Admittedly, the "problem" he has faced is that his variant of the arm drag is relatively difficult to lock in. An extremely fast opponent does not leave Electrico enough time to prepare the throw, leading to some fairly damaging charges, including a few pinfalls of note.

Blood Raven uses a Japanese-style arm drag. This should be unsurprising given his time in Japan. The Japanese arm drag requires the user to drop to their back instead of twisting with the opponent; this sends the attacker to the mat on his back as the unfortunate recipient flips over him.

The obvious negative is that this type of an arm drag is damaging to the user. By falling to one's back, Blood Raven causes a bit of damage to himself that, late in a match, has resulted in him being unable to perform a crucial pinfall.

As for the positive to the Japanese arm drag, the move is nearly impossible to miss. Because Blood raven initiates his opponent's flip with his own backward motion, the opponent is hard-pressed to find a way to not be dragged to the mat.

I would note the historical influence of the arm drag on lucha libre, but I have a feeling that article would not be well-met.

Eh, I'll talk about Fuerza later; was going to talk about the three...three? ways of pushing an untalented hoss. Meh. MOAR POSTS COMON DHR MOAR.

Woo fanbase! .5 done, btw; stupid matches with your stupid GOD 10 PEOPLE ****!

With us is Dazzling Dave Diamond, Triple-D, Mr. 3DT himself. After a controversial recent exit from New York City Wrestling, Dave's been out of work. Perhaps to make pittance off of our offer, he's agreed to sit down and be subjected to the abuse with which you all are so familiar.

Dave: As dad used to say, "Lay on, Macduff."

Pretty sure that wasn't your father. Anyway, Dave, got a big birthday coming up, right?

Dave: Normally, coming up on year seven of your career means you're 27, 28 years old at the latest. Debuting at that age...I'm a late bloomer. Did a bit of guitar work before I jumped into things, ran around at the supermarket, that kind of thing. And yes, I've been on a farm before. Mid-teens. I'm 35 now is the point, in a couple months, and...can't say life's been too terrible to me.

But your mid-thirties...don't you think it's about time to slow down?

Dave: ...Nah.

...

Oh, that's it?

Dave: You ask me a question, I throw back an answer. If you want why? Well, lessee...truth is, I don't feel that slow. Don't feel particularly old, physically, and that's the good thing about the business. Wrestling is-can be-a low-impact variety of physical work on the body. Means you can go a good twenty, thirty years even if you have it in you.

Do you?

Dave: I dunno about fifty, but I think I won't be feeling it until I'm forty. As to whether or not you'll be seeing it...don't know, couldn't tell you.

So about your being unemployed, then...

Dave: Right, right, me and Larry, right?

Yep.

Dave: Thing is, you got to understand something: we don't get along. And yeah, no, don't stop me there with it's obvious and such. I know we all know that, but the point is that's the point. Ain't nothing but working for a boss you ain't working out with, right? And wrestling's such that you don't have to go out there for a guy that's not what you're looking for, y'know?

So you quit after two years.

Dave: Yep, two years, took it off. Had the Tri-State down for about half a year, two years after my debut. Not bad, considering I had really debuted the year before that. So three years in the industry, they give me the belt. 31's not so bad, right? And then...

You quit.

Dave: Nah, that's half of it. Not even that, really. 2010 Stomper decides to leave. Can't blame him; he's not the nicest guy, so I imagine he's had a few fights before. Add that into fifty-whatever years old, all the bumps and stuff...yeah, guy's needing to get the hell out. It's why I've leaned conservative, by the way-I need to keep this career as long as I can. And keep friends, of course.

You're missing the heart of the question. The Stomper obviously liked you, but why did you only give Larry two years?

Dave: Considering I gave Stomper three at best, it's not exactly disrespectful, is it? Look, fine, you want the real deal, right?

I want to know what the issue was.

Dave: Point is, Larry's always been kinda slow. In the ring. God, not slow in the head, mentally stunted, none of that. Take it back, strike it, whatever, didn't mean to even imply that at all. Even if...god, okay, let's retry that.

Okay...

Dave: Larry's always had a slow pace, and point is even if he did have brain damage, dude ran around in Pride for however long with Bryan so I'm sure a concussion or two along the well sure as hell ain't helping him. But I'm talking slow ring-style, slow type of booking. Not that Stomper's a wizard, of course, because we all know he's old-school as can get. But Larry...

Was in PGHW since you debuted in the business, actually, but Larry what?

Dave: Yeah, you're right. Point is, just something about him, man, didn't click. I tried it, I waited, and maybe there's jealousy, or whatever the word is for him not giving me a shot. Never had a title since, is what I'm saying. You do that to a guy in his thirties, lose my respect, y'know? Didn't get back Tri-State neither even with a good five years working. So I tell him, and...

And?

Dave: And hell, I dunno. Can't tell me one side of the thing and get all the answer, right? I'm Texas, right? I'm Texas, and hell, he started off TWL like all my favorites. Chord, Liberty, Stomper himself-

Professor Nero?

Dave: **** you man **** Nero don't bring that **** in here.

You don't like him?

Dave: Like **** I do! Ain't no one, NO ONE, in Texas round back the eighties likes him. ****, I'm a ****ing KID! God, what the **** we talking about you bring up...**** man.

You do know wrestling's fake, right?

Dave: I'M GOD **** TEN YEARS OLD WHEN THAT ****ER LAST WON THE TITLE! You remember that match? Because my nightmares for the next three years should as hell do. ****. Won't ****ing catch me in Rhode Island over that ****. EVER. God **** that's just messed up, man. God.

O...kay. So back on Vessey, all right?

Dave: Yeah, ****, whatever man. Vessey, right, he's all about the pacing and the structure and it's just like Stomper, right? But he's...I dunno, I guess he's just starting, or restructuring...what I'm saying is sure, personality clash happened. Surprised he hasn't pissed off more people, sure, but it's really just I can't be friends with him. Could I work? Sure, I did for two years, but when the wheels are spinning...when you're spinning, and you got a boss that don't really work with you...what I'm saying is, I could consider going back, if we was all professional or whatever. But I know it's not going to be that way. It's not ribbing or anything, or not one specific thing, but...it's like chopping wood, right, but we're going hammer-and-wedge here. You knock it in, got a little kink.

Crack, you mean.

Dave: Kink, crack, whatever meth-head. Point is, you hit it, little problem. Keep hammering away...hole gets bigger...comes to the point where you ain't got no wood no more, you're looking at two halves. It's a long time coming, sure, but when it happens, ain't going back, man.

But you would go back, right?

Dave: Sure, hell, he gives me money and a shot, whatever. Strong dislike or not, I'm looking for a paycheck. Been out of the usual workforce for...well, since '06, so like I said before, seven years going by is a long time. I don't get any offers soon, come...well, since October, so I get employed round my birthday, thinking that it's going to be hard for me to work out. Gotta have a job, y'know, and my physique...it's not terrible, and I said physically I'm still there, but thirty-five years ain't a spring chicken, right?

Right...yeah. But moving on-well, talking about New York City still, but a few questions here: who was your favorite and least favorite guy to work with?

Dave: Aside from Larry, obviously? Ha...

Yeah.

Dave: Well, let's ignore Harper and the like, right? Andrew's new as hell, started late at 22-I know, shut it-so yeah, he's going to suck. I'd say he's a bit on the stiff side, though, which is more painful yet much better than a softie. Guy hits you, you sell. Afraid to do nothing, don't got anything to do, right? So I appreciate that, aside from bruises or whatever.

Ignoring the rookies, then, who is it?

Dave: Worst? Let's see, worst guy...well, Atom Smasher was my debut. Not that he was terrible, or anything, but can't say I was a huge fan of my first match with the company. But worst guy, guy who I wouldn't consider going again...Oh god, Land Mass. How did I forget Land Mass. Just...we're not elaborating.

Actually, you don't really need to. I'm not touching that. Let's move on to the best, shall we?

Dave: Easy: Ansell. Dean Ansell. Great guy, really, really good working with him. Not friends or anything, dunno why we never clicked like that, and it's not like I'm talking, five-star-of-the-year chemistry. But he came into the company near when I debuted in wrestling, already had some work behind him, and he left just before Stomper was out. Kind of...symbolic, I'd say.

So he was your favorite opponent?

Dave: Well yeah, just embodied a style, y'know? Phunk was really cool-not the best for me, I guess, but what he wouldn't sell in a brawl he totally, totally had character. Decent enough guy outside, as well. Wright was...Japan's not really my thing, obviously, but ****, that guy was over. Man, that's...that guy, not in the States, but I'm talking, he's the biggest star somewhere that I've worked with. And if brawling's your thing...

So you're a Diaz fan?

Dave: It's the Monster, man! Of course! Not my style, but I can't help struggle through his matches. Not a puro guy, not a puro guy, not a puro guy at all. Striking's different, pacing's off, but...god, the guy's like a...he's really dang similar in my head to Bruce the Giant. And if you're calling on him, and pulling those crowds...hell, that had to be a good time.

Now you mentioned you don't like puroresu-

Dave: Right. Nothing against the style, but not a fan. I can tolerate lucha, coming from Texas, but it's also not my thing.

-you said the pacing was off, I think, about puro. Understandably that's a stylistic thing, but we've had rumors that you script your matches to a very...rigid pace, shall we say.

Dave: Eh, yeah, guess that's right. Probably a pain to work with that way. <img alt=":rolleyes:" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Point is, I know who I am. I know my ability, and I know how I can work. Now Mauler? Masked Mauler, man, he's not the greatest psychologist, but by god can that man do anything you want. Lose, sure. Win? Sure. Perfect, perfect guy, change my vote to him on the opponent. Our matches were...bland, I guess, but son, I tell you I should have spoke to him a lot more.

Pacing. Scripting.

Dave: Right, whatever, shut up man. I'm talking about locker room leaders. But whatever, right. Okay, so Mauler's not a scripter, but he let me do that. Can't really call it at a high level either, but he'd be able to work it if he wanted. Me? No. Can't do it, can't handle it, never was my thing. Bailey? Didn't really hit it off; he's a great guy, cool outside the ring and a master in it, 'side from selling these days, but he's a guy can roll with anything. Didn't mesh. And Flash? Ha, you think I'd call him the best, right?

He's pretty much king of the indies, so yes.

Dave: Not one match.

You're joking.

Dave: Nope. Never crossed paths. Great guy, huge idol, love the guy. Everyone does, shoot. But nope, never touched it.

And he scripts the match?

Dave: Well, yeah, actually he did agent us a few times. Helped out some finer points. But really...at least for me, when I'm at my limit, it comes to a point where it don't matter how good he is...it's just too much, y'know? I just...can't keep up.

Alright, alright, time to wrap things up. On the back of an excellent show I can rest for...six days, yes. I get to think and relax. I am happy.

~~~
When I say "rest" I mean "I do not have to come into work in the morning." The previous show's formula having a satisfactory outcome means I did not need to come into work and worry about current plans for the future.
Now, however, I am awake. Time to do my job.
~~~

I've sacrificed Jack Bruce's popularity a bit, as well as Valiant's; Vengeance and Christian Faith, however, are unmoved. Eric took Valiant's popularity; James, obviously, took Bruce's. Almost. A successful match, in any case.

Jack needs to have the next week off in-ring, as I need his popularity to still be exceptional. Enforcer Roberts and, say, Eric Eisen would make a good tag team for this week; opponents are? Perhaps Gilmore and Lobster Warrior, yes. This is good progress. Now for the opener...
