I love agents of shield but to be honest marvel could crap in a bag and I would still love it lol

I've noticed that there isn't a lot of love for the show on some of the forums I go to mainly IGN. But I think its more the internet crowd just crapping on it just well because they can lol

As to not have a disagreement on your article as the first post, I'll post this here instead.

I haven't missed an episode of Agents of Shield yet... but I don't think they have been anywhere near what was expected. I've been disappointed by the show myself, but I'll continue to watch it because I think it will get better.

However.... going by what it's been so far, I can't get into a show that as it's best points are references to big movies and little /nods to the comics and other characters (not in the show). I want more story about the people that happen to star in the show. I want more interaction between these characters. I also wouldn't mind a little bit of concern, suspense, anything to show how dangerous this or that mission actually is, instead of the cast seemingly going about everything nonchalant. Now >>>>SPOILER ALERT<<<<< I'm to believe that Skye's reasoning to be there at all is to find out what happened to her parents... although she supposedly belongs to "Rising Tide" which isn't exactly a group that likes SHIELD.

Give me some details on Coulsan, give me a back story of some kind on other members. Tell me why it feels so low budget when it was flagship show (to start with... not so much now). Why do I feel like I'm watching "The Fall Guy" staring Lee Majors? The only tie in physically was Nick Fury complaining about damages.... which although I was glad to see him, I can't think of a more lame reason then how they used him. Just doesn't make any sense at all to me, considering the damage he was willing to do himself (in the movies).

So although I will continue to watch, mainly because I think it will get better (can't really get any worse and stay on the air), I don't share your optimistic opinion of what we have seen or seeing another "relative" or "friend of" an actual important character in the Marvel Universe. The show comes off sort of like, but not quite, an NCIS or something, but the character interaction, suspense and all other things I talked about earlier in the thread, which does exist in those kind of shows, is almost non-existent in this one.

I liked the setup from the pilot. I liked the cast and the situation. A lot more than some of the internet naysayers, at least. As the show has continued, I'm not really feeling it. Did I miss an episode this week, or was it not on? I literally do not know.

It's in 'monster of the week' territory right now, which is pretty much what you'd expect from the early stages of a Joss Whedon show. Perhaps as the series progresses and stuff starts hitting the fan, and character go through some hardships, it'll get better. Just a shame that modern TV is filled with Breaking Bads and Games of Thrones and other shows were stuff hits the fan multiple times an episode.

It's 44 minutes when you remove the commercials.

I love this show, and I love that they're pacing it as if it'll be around as long as Buffy and Angel were.

This week was a repeat of the first episode, with not-Luke-Cage and stuff.

The Extremis/Centipede plot thread reminds me of the shared origin stories of USAgent and Spider Woman II/Arachne, and I'm REALLY REALLY HOPING that it's indeed building up to their origins (as a fan of Avengers West Coast and Force Works, I'm indeed hoping that's the case, like REALLY hoping). If not them, at least Wonder Man?

I'm also hoping that the first season finale actually shows us what actually happened with Coulson post-Avengers: Was he revived, or is he an LMD simulacrum, or is he a biological clone?

I get the feeling Skye's parents will be revealed to be a pair of marginally important Marvel comics characters (probably non-powered, given the lack of powers on the team's end), which will probably make us groan at her spotlighted-ness on the show.

And finally, I ♥ Ming-Na as Melinda May SO HARD ♥♥♥♥♥. I almost don't mind that she's the only minority in the team.

I like Agents of Shield so far but hope soon they show that SHIELD isn't always the good guys and that some of its enemies are right. At the moment the show paints SHIELD as more a misunderstood White Knight than the dark grey organization that it should be. Though part of the problem is that we are fallowing a team of "good" agents. I just hope sometime soon we end up with an episode where SHIELD is the bad guys. Most likely as a twist ending where we find out the person the team chased the whole episode is a SHIELD agent just following orders.

Also how long before a mid-tier hero with some recognition joins the team? When the show first started I know so many people who were confused by the whole lack of heroes with powers. Add with ratings that are only kind of good it seems like only a matter of time before someone at Marvel realizes the only way to boost ratings is to give the general non comic book reading audience the super hero show they thought they were getting.

I don't understand why anyone would assume it was going to be a super hero show. Marvel explicitly said millions of times that it wasn't a super hero show, that it was about SHIELD agents.

I for one am enjoying SHIELD truthfully. It has it's flaws, but what Whedon show doesn't at first?

I'm still holding to my prediction from when Avengers ended that Coulson some how ends up as Vision though.

Perhaps people assumed the agents would have powers, after all the previews for episode 1 showed a lot of footage of the bad guy doing super powered things.

Also, SPOILER ALERT!!!! Coulsen is a LMD aka life model decoy aka robot man made to look like a person with no one being able to tell the difference.

"Don't expect Hulk, Iron Man, etc." No one expected that. They said it would be about Shield, not super heroes.... However, any fan knows that Shield IS somewhat Super Hero/Villain depending on the circumstances. Any fan knows that SHIELD should be pretty spectacular in itself, high tech information, high tech weapons, vehicles... suits that give them somewhat super powers, militant, organized, and endless backup and resources when necessary.

This show feels like a rogue group of misfits with very little support, very little organization, hardly any self discipline, let alone militant, and hardly any resources. It's almost exactly opposite of what SHIELD is.

It parallels The Avengers ("Time bomb waiting to happen" thing), in a huge way though, so....that's why I'm almost positive it's going to get better, as far as the characters go.

All that said, what irritates me about the show the most is the lack of fear or danger, while implying things are very dangerous, as far as the characters are concerned. They literally had what they thought could potentially be the most deadly bomb in an unstable environment, and even the ones that knew the danger were like "Um, you might want to be more gentle with that" as if it were no more then eggs being tossed around.

Then there is the fact that only three of them know what they are doing in combat situations, and when in combat situations there is no sense of actual danger.

It's just how he does these things. I'm sure things are going to pick up, and the majority of my problems with the show will have been fixed, or things will come together in a way my problems won't feel relevant to me anymore, because that's just how he does these things... but he had all those darn movies ahead of this show, and I just feel like we are going through a bunch of stuff that isn't necessary, before this thing gets going good.

In my opinion though, this should be done sort of like Supernatural.... You have the normal humans in SHIELD, but more militant.... going up against meta-humans..... I mean, I always felt like "Heroes" or whatever that show was called, used the father as a sort of SHIELD type, with a little less organization. Looking at Agents of SHIELD, it's opposite. The group the father in Heroes belonged too was much more organized.

I know this is an Agents of SHIELD thread but seeing as this is about Marvel TV shows I thought it would be appropriate to talk about this here.

Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones are all getting their own TV shows on Netflix followed my a Defenders miniseries crossover.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/11/07/daredevil-luke-cage-iron-fist-jessica-jones-tv-series-coming-to-netflix-leading-into-the-defenders-miniseries

What I find funny is when I heard marvel was shopping a 4 show package Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were 3 of the characters I thought would work best as TV shows. I just wish instead of Cage and Fist having their own shows we got Heroes for Hire. That way they could also make a Punisher TV series (he is always one of the more interesting team-ups in comics for how different his views are from the other heroes). I would assume Kingpin will be a Villain in all the shows with him being the big bad for the team-up series.

From reading all 4 mentioned are involved with him - Jessica Jones especially seeing as he is probably her greatest enemy. It gives them a reason to ease the characters in as well with Daredevil being first up, introducing Jessica Jones via her being sent to kill DD with a slight change of DD stops her. Move onto Luke Cage after Jessica and then Iron Fist would round up the 4 series before moving onto the Defenders against The Purple Man for the Defenders series.

Just my two thoughts anyways, I'm hyped for this already. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

OMG! I just realized the best thing about this news. If the show is successful Lukse and Jessica can have a baby, which would lead to them needing a nany. And thus the debut of the greatest superhero of them all......Squirrel Girl!!!

And I too have long thought Punisher would make a much better tv series than movie franchise, especially with the recent popularity of anti-heroes on tv. And I'm still hoping marvel wajes up and develops a runaways show.

I thought the last episode was a big step up. Once again the team failed to stop people from dying and that was only the first half of the episode. The Chitauri helmet was a nice tie-in to Avengers. Elizabeth Henstridge was great, and Iain De Caestecker was good. They showed that they are decent actors when they're given more than just a comedy routine to work with.

As for all the new shows: Nice idea. I kind of hope it's self-contained and not linked to the Avengers and Shield, just so they are free from continuity constrictions. As for Netflix, well I live in Australia so they won't make any money out of me.

Last night's ep was the one with Saffron Burrows/Agent Hand.

I thought it was a great way to force Fitz & Ward and Skye & Simmons into a situation where they had to evolve their characters' relationships and chemistry, see what works between them.

I'm a huge fan of the relationship between Coulson & May (it feels like they used to be lovers, right?) and how it evolves (I lol'ed at the "Coulson talking to himself while May did Tai-Chi" bit) over each ep. I'd say "even newer Christine" but her first name is Melinda. XD

I marked out for the first appearance of Agent Jasper Sitwell on the show.

And the end-of-ep hook/stinger is always bomb-dropping, even when those bombs are cherry-sized.
