This is the first public release and not the final release. Please report all mistakes and problems in this thread to help improve and tweak the next version of the CV EXPANDED.

The goal with C-Verse Expanded is to expand the WMMA3 universe, and make one large database that is fully compatible with the default and various expansion packs.

The CV Expanded combines O+ (Blackman), Default Redone (Afroduck) and various new imports from the world of TEW (Asaemon). It also included the default database and large parts of CV Reborn, Eyeball Pack and GDS Community Fighter Share. CV Expanded will expand the game world by adding Bantamweight and Super Heavyweight divisions.

The history of WMMA

Early Vale Tudo

In 1949 the higly skilled Brazilian Jiu Jitsu clan Feitosa starts the Feitosa Challenge, where Ricardo Feitosa Sr did fight against loads of Boxers, Luta Livre practioners, Capoeira fighters and generic toughguys in Rio de Janeiro's martial arts dojos and small gymnasiums. There were no promotions, weight classes or championships, and fighters represented their styles and their schools.

The Birth of Shootfighting

Kien Shih was a former Judo champion, who had visions of creating a hybrid between Professional Wrestling and his sport. In May 1974, Kien Shih founded Combat Fighting Arts, a promotion centered around the concept of CFA presenting its matches as legitimate fights between two competitors, instead of the traditional ideals of Japanese Pro Wrestling. The matches were actually booked to ensure popular winners. The concept, seen as a huge gamble to begin with, was an immediate and total flop, leaving Shih scrambling to repair the damage done to his finances. Combat Fighting Arts closed in the summer of 1975 and Kien Shih opened Tokyo City Championship Combat to promote regular Pro Wrestling.

In december of 1974 young martial artist Hito Ichihara entered the world of Pro Wrestling and signed with Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods. Ichihara is seen as the japanese pioneer of cross-training and combined Kyukushin Karate, Judo, Catch Wrestling and Pro Wrestling in a unique style. He stayed loyal to BHOTWG during his Pro Wrestling career and got respected for his fighting spirit and his devastating martial arts kicks. Besides competing in BHOTWG, Hito Ichihara began to challenge other Pro Wrestlers and legitimate martial artists to face him in shootfights.

World Freestyle Fighting Tournament 1975

In december 1975 Hito Ichihara held the World Freestyle Fighting Tournament. The WFFT was a freestyle single-elimination fighting tournament, where some of the world's finest martial artists were invited. In the quarter-finals Dutch Kyukushin Karate expert and Kickboxer ”Dirty” Danny Berteling knocked out former Sumo Wrestler Kuruma with a devastating headkick. ”The Iranian Madman”Suleyman that had fought in several underground no-holds-barred competitions in Hock Kong and had a background in Freestyle Wrestling and Amateur Boxing defeated the American truckdriver and powerlifter John Gehring by strikes. Besides working as a truckdriver, Gehring had experience from underground bare-knuckle prizefighting. In the third match Japanese Jiu Jitsu master Masaki Sakurai submitting American Pro Boxer Jefferson Brown. The fourth and last quarterfinal saw Hito Ichihara defeat Kyukushin Karate blackbelt Nobuo

Wakabayashi by submission.

In the semifinals Hito Ichihara knocked out Masaki Sakurai with a headkick, while Suleyman made it to the final after ”Dirty” Danny Berteling was diqualified for using illegal tactics during the fight.

In the final Hito Ichihara become the first ever World Freestyle Fighting tournament winner after ”The Iranian Madman” became disqualified for also using illegal tactics during the fights.

World Freestyle Fighting Tournament 1976

In this tournament previous finalist Suleyman won a by TKO against former Sumo Wrestler Kuruma. In the second quarterfinal newcomer from Australia ”Black” Bart Jones took on John Gehring. Jones were a former powerlifter and ”Show” Wrestler that also had experience from bareknuckle Boxing matches. Jones defeated Gehring by TKO (strikes).

In the third quarterfinal the defending champion Hito Ichihara took on Judo master Kunio Nakada and won by a headkick knock out. In the last quarterfinal ”Dirty” Danny Berteling fought famous American Kickboxer Billy ”The Whirlwind” Graham and won by knock out ”right low kick”. In the semifinals Suleyman won against ”Black” Bart Jones by submission, while Hito Ichihara won against Dannny Berteling, after the Dutch fighter had been disqualified again for using dirty tactics.

The final where a hard fought battle, but finally the defending champion Hito Ichihara managed to knock out the mighty Suleyman with a stunning headkick.

World Freestyle Fighting Tournament 1977

The tournament started by Brazilian Vale Tudo veteran and BJJ expert Ricardo Feitosa Sr submitting American John Gehring. Australian ”Black” Bart Jones submitted American Karate legend Wayne ”Blackbelt” Williams in only 12 seconds. In the third quarterfinal ”Dirty” Danny Berteling managed to knock out two time finalist Suleyman with a scything headkick. In the last quarterfinal two time tournament winner Hito Ichihara won by submission against French Savate fighter Bernard Mennessier. In the semifinals Ricardo Feitosa Sr submitted Bart Jones, while Hito Ichihara did the same with Danny Berteling. Meeting his most difficult opponent in his career, Ichihara finally managed to knock out the BJJ expert with a knee strike to the head.

World Freestyle Fighting Tournament 1978

Undefeated Hito Ichihara decided to focus on his BHOTWG career and did not compete. The first quartfinal saw Brazilian BJJ practioner Ricardo Feitosa Jr against Kuruma. Feitosa Jr managed to get down the Sumo on the ground and could apply a submission hold. French Savate fighter Bernard Mennessier used his patented headkick knock out against Bulgarian strongman Boris Anguelov. In the third quarterfinal ”Dirty” Danny Berteling knocked out toughguy ”Black” Bart Jones with a knee strike. In the last quarterfinal ”The Iranian Madman” Suleyman won by submission against John Gehring. Suleyman won by submission against Bernard Mennessier in the first semifinal, while BJJ expert Ricardo Feitosa Jr did the same against Danny Berteling. In the final Ricardo Feitosa Jr fought a great battle against the bigger Suleyman, but finally managed to submit his opponent and was declared the last World Freestyle Tournament winner.

The United Shootfighting Federation era

In december 1979 three times WFFT winner and Shootfighting pioneer Hito Ichihara met in BJJ expert Ricardo Feitosa Jr in a Feitosa Challenge event. The fight was declared a draw after 30 minutes had past. After the fight Ichihara retired from the world of Shootfighting to fully focus on ”Strong Style” Wrestling. While various gyms held local Shootfighting events around the globe, it was not until april 1984 when a group of former Pro Wrestlers formed the USF (United Shootfighting Federation) that the sport took it's first step from local to regional level. The promotion was based in Japan and was set up to promote ”true” shootfights. It's roots were Hito Ichihara's Hybrid Wrestling style.

The Japanese MMA war

The first boom period of Shootfighting came in 1989 when CFAi (Combat Fighting Arts international) opened it's doors. In the 1990 the promotion PANKRATION followed. With a limited market for Shootfighting and stiff competion, the USF closed it's doors in november 1990. CFAi and PANKRATION took over the market, but what happened once also happened twice when ALPHA-1 opened in 1992 and CFAi couldn't handle the competition. ALPHA-1 introduced more weightclasses and rules that allowed more martial arts options for the competitors. The brutal and fast pacened ALPHA-1 shows were a hugh hit and the promotion dominated the market and left the openweight promotion PANKRATION far behind in the shadows.

Timeline of Mixed Martial Arts

1920s – Early Vale Tudo contests

1970s - The future "Strong Style" wrestling legend Hito Ichihara hosted several legitimate Shootfighting matches. Along with this, the style of mixing Martial Arts and Catch Wrestling used in these types of Shootfights began to spring up everywhere.

1974 – Combat Fighting Arts forms

In May 1974, Kien Shih founded Combat Fighting Arts, a promotion centered around the concept of CFA presenting its matches as legitimate fights between two competitors, instead of the traditional ideals of Japanese wrestling. The "worked shoots" concept, seen as a huge gamble to begin with, was an immediate and total flop, shutting down for the summer of 1975.

1975 - World Freestyle Fighting Tournament forms

In december 1975 legendary martial artist and "Strong Style" wrestler Hito Ichihara forms World Freestyle Fighting Tournament a freestyle single-elimination fighting tournament, where some of the world's finest martial artists were invited.

1984 - United Shootfighting Federation forms

The Universal Shootfighting Federation was set up to promote the "true" shootfights. USF was a pioneer mixing legitimate Martial Arts with "Strong Style" wrestling. It's roots were Hito Ichihara's Hybrid Wrestling style and it was founded by former "Strong Style" wrestlers.

1989 – Combat Fighting Arts international forms

CFAi was set up to promote the "true" shoots. It was founded by Kiemon Shih, the younger brother of the original CFA founder Kien Shih.

1990 – PANKRATION forms

PANKRATION is oldest active MMA promotion in the wolrd and was set up to promote "true shootfights" in a openweight division. It's roots are Hito Ichihara's Hybrid Wrestling style and it was founded by former "Strong Style" wrestlers.

1992 - ALPHA-1 forms

1994 - NARUTO Company buys ALPHA-1

1994 - GAMMA forms

First professional MMA promotion to use a Cage.

1995 – Squillionaire Lance Decker buys GAMMA

1995 - BCF forms

1995 - FLB forms

I'll upload an optional picture pack in the weekend that contains the ones that are 'missing'. Most are actually pictures that were used in previous installments of the game and replaced for some reason. If you prefer not to play with those because they might remind you of a certain someone, just don't download the pack. Or delete the fighters in question if you don't want faceless fighters.

edit: due to some misunderstandings in data sharing, my data has been reverted back to a past (way outdated and slightly faulty) state. I'll upload a never version of the database saturday. Apologies. Just a quick, inconsequential note: Both CCC (Classic Cage Combat) and LOCC (Legends of Caged Combat) are set to use a ring instead of a cage in their rules.

In any specific weight classes or generally all weight classes? For the male fighters i've tried to tweak all backgrounds so that fighters with skills in the 40's and below don't have any set level, fighters between 50-79 should be high level and fighters above 80 should be at world level.

Changes for 2_4_B: - Missing worker pictures fixed - Backgrounds for women reverted to default system - Women stats, pop, bios and rep tweaked - New women fighters added - All reported bugs fixed until 16/11 19h30 - Couple of women agers added. As for Nene Ebina's picture being the same: that's intentional. Her official TEW picture is actually the same render as Haley Croft. Not sure what people prefer. Here's the download to version 2.4B of the database:

To install it, simply put the db in the db folder and the Bodies and Faces folders in the Pictures/Default folder.

Feature list is posted in my last post. I strongly advise to download this, but only if you want to play with a women's division. You'll need to start a new game for it. If you play KDM-FC, you should probably disable the new narrative called "J-1 1", as that transfers the women's division over to J-1. This of course presupposes that KDM-FC dies before the end of the year (which should happen in 90% of the cases).

Good call on the women.

You have to consider that most of the women's division is really bad at first.

It takes a good half decade with backgrounds for most to reach the 80s in their skills.

That, and booking WEFF is a disaster. HW champ and best contender both have 0 popularity. Not to mention every contender is from the same fight camp so you'll risk them refusing to fight. Last but not least: their rules suck. Like I mentioned elsewhere: if ever there was a hard mode in WMMA, WEFF was it. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> That said, I found it's most fun to play, as soon as you change the crappy 3x3 match lenght. Boy, that just does NOT work in WMMA.

To make it more interesting, the more prominent women fighters have been supplied with a couple of title fight records from 1996, so that there's at least SOME history for the women.

EDIT: Small 'bug' I found. Tabitha Cameron was still her default 135lbs. Kinda weird for a 6'1 fighter. Manually adjust to 145 or something if you want it fixed now.
