Just noticed that you can let the AI control your partner in tag matches! Awesome! Not a feature that everyone will utilise, but I really like that option.

Also, is it possible for the AI to be disqualified in this version?

It wouldn't connect them to moves already in the WreSpi3 database as it's not possible for there to be a matching name (if you're importing Jack Bruce, his associated moves can't possibly be linked to the name "Jack Bruce" - if they were, you'd be blocked from doing the import in the first place as there'd be a duplicate name).

Well, I've done my third month as Warren, and actually done the storyline easily (it was Under Pressure... again, but this against lower card talent, so wasn't a problem!)

So far my only negative is the world not feeling like a wrestling world. I understand why events/TV shows aren't in due to the storyline system, but simple things like title histories in the promotion screen and title changes would be nice. For title changes it could be a simple end of month message like "Wrestler X has won Title Y in Promotion Z!", just like you get the leaving/joining promotions and raising/falling popularity messages.

Anyway, I'll do a few more three-month careers over the next day or two and I'm sure I'll like it more than enough for purchase.

There's no reason for the AI not to want a count out win after all, whereas a DQ would be a loss for them.

Initial thoughts:

+Loving the demo. I was hoping to at least get to poke around the tournament and league builders, but that's more than made up for by the ability to play for three months, and the ability to have any start date.

+TEW Converter is awesome, with two exceptions:

-It automatically imported finishers but doesn't seem to have trademarked them or anything....on my test game my RtL had over 3,000 moves in the autogen. It would be nice to have an option not to import them, or to try to make them signature when they're not duplicated, or something.

-I don't see a setting to disregard game area restrictions. With my draft game database, this led to a couple dozen people under contract in areas where they weren't active, and it'd be nice to have the option of working overseas anyway.

~I still have no idea how strategy works in this game, but at least I can see the math and dice now!

-It crashed on me (runtime error 91 I think?) when I tried to import moves from the in-game editor and then return to the player screen.

-I don't quite grasp the stamina system because it'll look like I'm full but I'll still get "breathing hard" penalties and the like.

~I will echo the wishlist for a more "watchable" game but the streamlining is also nice.

-No battle royals?

+I gave a lot of complaints but I actually like it a lot! Good work as always.

Breathing hard is when you've hit a lot of high-energy moves (moves with a high 'Effort Required' stat) in a row as the attacker. Usually it follows that Low and Medium level moves don't require much effort, High and Finisher level moves do (but there are exceptions, of course). To mitigate the penalty you need to throw in a few rest holds and less strenuous moves now and then between your higher impact ones.

Stamina is more of a long-term thing, it's not connected with effort. The more your stamina goes down, the more severe penalties you start to suffer.

It's explained in the help file. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

-No battle royals?

To do a battle royal you'd need more than one opponent at a time, which would be absolute mayhem if it was even logically possible.

There are Elimination matches and Gauntlet-style matches (where you take on several opponents consecutively) in the game though, which is about as close as the game can realistically get.

Wrestling Spirit 3 Demo Review

To be honest this game is a step backwards in my honest opinion. It doesn't feel like a wrestling world. There is no way you can view who are the champions or title holders or title history. Instead of signing a contract and getting money to invest it in other things you just get XP experience points. Then your forced to choose certain storylines instead of the game being open ended. The game looks plain and it doesn't seem much effort was put into the game. It's funny because Wrestling Spirit 2 looks way better as far as the layout. I was looking forward to the game but it's just a let down. I'm not saying the developer just threw anything together to make a couple bucks but this isn't worth buying in my honest opinion. The storyline concept doesn't make much sense to me. I played Rookie to Legend and it's super hard to win any matches it seems like the computer just always has the advantage no matter what. I then played an already existing character who was at the main event level. I was the given the options of facing four main eventers in a storyline and the others were taking it easy or a tag team storyline. The storylines have no substance to it. If your a main event guy you would normally be gunning for the world title, but in this game you can't even tell who are the champions or title holders so it's like wtf? The game says it has backstage politics....what backstage politics? It seems to me you just pick a storyline for the month, wrestle the matches and go on about your business. Manage finances....what finances? You just earn XP for each match and keep it moving. Anyway that's my review for the demo. I give it a 3 out of a 10.

There are also other ways storylines can be different - someone in this thread mentioned starting as a champion and having to defend the belt, someone else mentioned the Rip Chord Invitational. You've got to start somewhere, but there are a lot of storylines in-game (it even tells you the number in storyline history I think).

I didn't look at that yet. I'd probably have to drop my score down for the game from an 8/10 to a 6 or 7. I don't get why developers don't realize how important these small details are to people. Madden doesn't have to keep track of everyone's stats. But they do because people want to be immersed in the game. That's why they not only keep track of the stats but have in recent years started keeping track of even more stats (super bowl winners, hall of fame, etc.). I just assumed that it was in there because Adam's other games (WMMA and TEW) do such a great job at keeping track just just about every stat and the backlash of CBH not keeping up with anyone in the game world but you was harsh.
