So, I'm thinking of running a match and adding my usual commentary and such so that people who may be new to The League get an idea of what I'm aiming to do in terms of presentation.

The thing is, I don't want to run League vs. League yet, and so I'm presenting three potential opponents for League folks to fight. The first two have Overall equal to League members, the third is widely considered the worst wrestler in the business (especially given his lack of a moveset). The premise is that I'll run the chosen opponent against each member of The League (note: I may not air all matches), and if the chosen opponent can muster a winning record against everyone, he will be held on retainer by The League to make an even number of participants if needed.

Your choices are:

Ben Williams

The Scotsman

Fearless Blue

It is now Day -27. With 12 active players, it takes 7 to force a majority. You have until whenever I decide the time limit to be expired to make a decision.

Fearless Blue: 5 (thebest2427, Psycho Sam, Wallbanger, MichiganHero, Derek B)

The Scotsman: 1 (Emark)

--------

Also, Wallbanger Jones' page should be updated with stats and an initially generated movelist.

Ok, so it looks like there is going to be a decided majority for Fearless Blue. I've run the first match in the series, which I will post below. Feel free to use this opportunity to comment on how the presentation looks--font types, announcer frequency, end-of-match info, etc. It's essentially similar to the WS2 run of The League but with the new output format.

Frankie Garnett: They want us to do what?!

Bob Sinclair: They want us to make sure we still have the chemistry for the announce team by announcing a series of matches, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: How is that fair?

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, every other organized sport has a preseason. This is ours.

Frankie Garnett: But we haven't had a preseason before!

Tori Montgomery: We've also never head a year-long hiatus between seasons, either. Besides, you're getting paid for it, you might as well do it.

Frankie Garnett: No one told me we were getting paid! Let's go!

Frankie speeds off toward the commentary table.

Bob Sinclair: Uh, Tori...you do realize we're not getting paid for this, right?

Tori Montgomery: How else was I going to get him to the table?

Bob Sinclair: Good call....

THE LEAGUE: PRESEASON SERIES, MATCH ONE

The camera fades in to a view of a ring located on the 27th floor of an unnamed building in Chicago, with only a few of the League members standing around the ring to serve as an audience. The camera then shifts to our three-person announce team.

Bob Sinclair: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first in a series of preseason matches leading up to the return of The League! I'm Bob Sinclair, joined at ringside by Frankie Garnett and Tori Montgomery, and what should we be looking for tonight, you two?

Frankie Garnett: Probably humiliation. No one at all expects this kid to be successful against our regulars in The League.

Tori Montgomery: Stranger things have happened, Frankie, and you know this. Ben Stanton in Season Five. Ian Carlisle in Season Six. Upsets are ripe for the picking!

Frankie Garnett: Details, details...

Bob Sinclair: For those of you who may not have been following along over the last few days, League Management is giving a couple indie wrestlers a shot at joining The League to make up for a possible odd number of entrants. The overwhelming majority of fan votes went to one Fearless Blue, a member of the now-defunct backyard promotion Xtreme Danger Wrestling. He will come in a bit more well-known and in questionably better ring shape than some of the regular League members, but will their experience in The League be enough to overcome that handicap?

Tori Montgomery: I know we're about to find out, Bob. Let's go to the ring and see what the youngster has in store for us!

Special Exhibition Match

Fearless Blue (0-0, OVR 390) vs. Diamond (0-0, OVR 200)

The familiar beat of "Don't Cha" fills the room as The League's charter female member struts into the room, her eyes focused on the ring as she prepares for her first match in several months. To her right, her best friend is giving some final words of encouragement before the wrestler slides in under the bottom rope and pops to her feet, bouncing back and forth on her feet to limber up.

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, this is the first of a series of special exhibition bouts, each scheduled for one fall! Introducing first: accompanied by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 155 pounds...she is a League Original and former Tag Team Turmoil champion...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond is one of the more well-known League members and one of the most successful as well; her 51 wins is fourth-best in League history.

Frankie Garnett: That's all well and good, Bob, but that was in the past. The times have changed; let's see if she can change with them!

Tori Montgomery: I think that's going to be the interesting question, Frankie. How will all of the League members adapt after a year away from this promotion? Diamond's seemed to put on some muscle over the last year, she looks to be in pretty good shape!

Gramm Lou's "Midnight Blue" plays over the intercom, causing a few League members to look up with confused looks on their faces. From the opposite side of the room comes the man who is challenging for a potential spot in The League. He casually climbs up the ringside steps before ducking between the ropes, standing in the corner opposite of Diamond.

Amelia Williams: Her opponent, from Olympia, Washington, weighing 163 pounds...Fearless Blue!

Frankie Garnett: I call shenanigans on that. Diamond is almost bigger than he is!

Tori Montgomery: Looks can be deceiving, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Still!

Bob Sinclair: Regardless, senior League official Jacob Smalls is in position and calls for the bell...the first League match in over a year is underway!

So, ladies and gents, I may have to make an executive decision and stop using Fearless Blue in our test series. The eternal punching sequence has been documented, which lead Adam to make Kick to Gut universal. Sean's head condition went from 63 to 54 in that span.

I am of the honest opinion that due to Blue's lack of moves above a Low level, an AI controlled Blue is nigh unbeatable due to it being nigh unplayable. I'll keep you posted.

/\/\/\/\/\/\

In other news, after some tinkering I've decided that I'm going to bump up the starting Overall and Spirit values to 300 apiece. I'll be changing pages to reflect this over the weekend. If a solo RTL game gives you those numbers to start, I might as well do the same, right? <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

In light of recent events, I'm afraid I must change Fearless Blue's advertising campaign....

Season Seven, 33 days before start of season

League Headquarters: Chicago, Illinois

December 6, 2013

And just as quickly as it began, Fearless Blue's new Quest was over.

When one bores the audience of assembled League wrestlers to the point where they storm the ring after eight full minutes of nothing but slapping taunts in the corner, management quickly made the right call and Fearless Blue was told to come back when he actually learned some offense.

In his place, two other wrestlers were brought in to try to earn a provisional spot on the League's Season Seven roster: Ben Williams and The Scotsman. With both men knowing they would have multiple matches each day in order to quickly assess their talents, both agreed and the preseason was, in effect, reset for everyone.

A random draw was held, and the first four matches were decided. Without any further fanfare, the preseason started once again.

THE LEAGUE: PRESEASON SERIES, MATCH TWO

The Scotsman (0-0, OVR 200) vs. Nuclear Templeton (0-0, OVR 300)

Scotsman came into the match looking to make Nuclear punch himself out, and press the advantage. This did seem to work for about five minutes, but getting into ref trouble with a trio of low blows all but eliminated his finisher, and he had no other way to notch a win short of a DDT. Nuclear was able to recover and finally put Scotsman in the Apocalypse Now torture rack for the submission at 16:53. The match was rated * (one star).

Ben Williams (0-0, OVR 200) vs. Diamond (0-0, OVR 300)

Diamond came into the match as an underdog. While she had more energy and spirit, Williams outclassed her in every other detail, and it showed as Diamond rarely got more than four moves in before Williams reasserted himself. Diamond refused to give in, kicking out of one of Williams' finishers, however, and even with Jayde running interference that wasn't enough as Williams put the League Original down with a second Twisting Face Crusher at 10:08. Rated ** (Two Stars).

Bob Sinclair: We're ready for our third match of the afternoon, and we're about to see one of this season's new arrivals in action as The Scotsman takes on Wallbanger Jones.
