Okay, I'm going to give this whole "make a mod" thing another go but because I've never even shown someone my previous attempts, I thought I'd go through this one in stages so when I make mistakes (and I will) people can point them out as early as possible before a mistake turns into a problem. I don't count myself as a modder and I'm not confident at all that this is going to turn out how I want it to, but I've had a lot of free time on my hands recently so I thought I'd give it one final attempt.

Anyway, I thought this would be a good first stage as I've finished all the companies I could think of from that period and beyond, including their owners and founders. What do I want you to do? Basically look through it, point out any areas that need improving, any areas that are wrong and/or any areas you think I've missed. Just remember that I haven't included things like WWE or WCW (so don't ask where they are) because they were formed from WWWF and JCP respectively; I really want this to be a mod where the wrestling world turns out the way the player wants it to (almost like an alternate reality) rather than how it actually did. Anyway, I really haven't got anything else to say, if you have any questions or thoughts, please share them with me because as I say, I want as much help as possible.

I've included the pictures although it's not even remotely complete because I know some people won't even look through a mod if they don't have pictures, but I also want people to make sure they're the right logos. By the way, you'll see that I haven't included just companies in the download, but that's really what I've been concentrating on; everything else is just little things that I've filled in on the ride. Things that I've noticed while researching the different companies that I thought I may forget/not see again so jotted it down while I had the chance. Anyway, there you go... please be gentle with me. :p

<p>This looks really interesting! Can't say I know a whole lot about wrestling from this period, just the more famous stuff, but I'll download this and take a look when I get a chance. I've always thought it would be cool to see mods from this far back even if it's hard to find footage to go by.</p><p> </p><p>

There seems to be a few wrestling history buffs around here, so hopefully this gains some traction. My interest is piqued, anyway. Good luck with it, I'll add anything if I can.</p><p> </p><p>

BTW: If you haven't already checked it out, <a href="http://greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=524746" rel="external nofollow">DerekB's Mod-Making Guide</a> is a good place to find out about how mods should be put together from a game mechanics point-of-view.</p>

In this time period, pretty much every company went by "All Star Wrestling", "Big Time Wrestling" or a multitude of other generic names, so it can be very easy to confuse one promotion with another. It would also be nice if people were to look through the products and popularities, to ensure there isn't anything out of place and/or I've exaggerated a companies popularity at that time. Just remember, almost every company was at regional level back then so unfortunately there is a set limit to how much I can up them without the balance of play being biased towards one promotion. And while I'm on promotions, if there are any promotions (past or present) that people would like to see included, let me hear 'em. Just remember, they can't be formed from any of the existing promotions, because that's up to the player whether or not that's the route they want to take.</p><p> </p><p> Looking through the statistics of some of the workers would also be a big help, pointing out if you feel I've over-evaluated someone or on the flip-side, under-evaluated someone. Popularity again here is something I'm particularly worried about. In my opinion, I think wrestlers are naturally going to be more popular than the places they work for because as the written contract wasn't even in consideration in this time period, they'd gain their popularity in all manners of ways from all manners of places. Particularly the superstars (holders of the NWA Heavyweight Championship) as they'd be talked of all around the world. </p><p> </p><p> I think that's all I opened this thread up for to be honest, so - in short - people could look through what I have already and point out any mistakes so I can correct them before they get out of hand. In the future though, I'd <em>love</em> some help with the television side of things. The television side of TEW has always been an area of confusion for me. If someone could provide me with a list of TV networks from the 70s, their range, size etcetera and any wrestling shows they held at the time, I'd be more than grateful, I'd be forever in your debt.</p><p> </p><p> After all that? At the start of 1970, he was still enjoying his first reign as WWWF Champion after 7 years with the belt, so he's going to be huge across North America and out of everyone (apart from the NWA Champions) his popularity will probably spread globally.</p><p> </p><p> I've pretty much got the huge networks covered because they've been in every mod ever, so I've gradually got a good grasp on them. It's not necessarily the names of the networks/channels either, because when I find a promotions show, they usually come with the channel that have shown them too. It's the mechanics of the networks/channels I struggle with; size, patience, their ranges etcetera. Maybe I'll contact Genadi and see if I can import some of his networks/channels from his 1987 mod, because I do feel like I need to include some of the smaller channels because as you rightly said, no one was on a major network at that time so it would be kinda pointless if that's all I included. I have already got "AJW TV" on Fuji TV, "All Star Wrestling" on CHAN-TV and "Wrestling at the Chase" on KPLR-TV, so I'm gradually feeling more confident.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, thanks for you best wishes and your enthusiasm. I'm really looking forward to finishing it, and it's great to hear others are too. That time period with some of the true legends of sports still competing and with the likes of Ric Flair still to come, if I get it right, I'm hoping it's going to be really fun.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaysin" data-cite="Jaysin" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37186" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>You can set networks to open at a later date and just have no one start with television deals.</div></blockquote><p> Yeah, I'm going to throw in some networks/channels that'll open later, but I'd really like to include the TV shows and their networks from that era where applicable and possible, to make it a little more authentic if nothing else. As I said before, I'll contact Genadi to ask him about his 1987 mod, that'll probably solve a lot of my issues. Thank you nevertheless. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

Question, would people care if I made custom referees? I've found some information on a couple of referees from that era but it's almost impossible (unless someone can help) to find information on most of them, so I find myself in a bit of a jam.

What I'll do if you're all okay with it is use their names (because I've found quite a lot of their names) but basically make up the rest of the information as I go.

Firstly, thanks for the replies regarding the referees. Secondly, here is what I've got so far if you're interested:

Things are very slowly coming together (the most time consuming thing is past employment and the descriptions, because I want it to be a mod that those who don't know a lot about the time period still get a good feel of it so I'm trying to put a lot of detail into everything) and I'm surprisingly happy with what I've got so far. :) Locations would be a big help to me this time, so if you can think of any locations from 1970 that I've missed, I'd love to hear about them.

By the way, all credits will be given upon release, I'm not being ignorant. :p

Bronco Lubich was around back in the 70s, I believe. According to Wikipedia, his last year as an active wrestler was 1971, and he worked as a heel manager in 1972. But then in 1973 is when he started refereeing. Dick Woerhle and Dick Kroll I believe might have been around back then. Woerhle reffed the WWF's(then WWWF) Philadelphia Spectrum shows, and Kroll reffed the WWF's Madison Square Garden shows. Though I think Kroll may have debuted later in the decade, not 1970 itself. Thank you for the further information. :)

I have a good knowledge (or rather I know where to find information xD) on the referees in the 80s and beyond, for example I know Tommy Young debuts in 1973, Earl Hebner in the mid 80s, David Manning early 80s and James Beard in 1979. Dave Hebner actually debuted in 1963 though, refereeing and competing under a mask (so the fans wouldn't be confused by an official wrestling) using the moniker, The Golden Eagle, he was more or less just a filler but as he wasn't recognised as a full-time referee until the late 1970s, he'll start as a wrestler in my mod... maybe just a semi-active wrestler. Yeah, Dick Woehrle started in the mid to late 60s and Dick Kroll had two years as a professional wrestler (from 1958) but became a full-time referee in 1960, so they'll both be in the mod from the start.

As I said before, I've found quite a lot of names from that era but the actual information is pretty non-existent so what I'll do is take their names but make up everything else as I go. Fortunately, every roster that I've done so far has wrestlers in their late 40's who have taken on a refereeing role so I haven't had to worry about them. What I'm worried about more than anything is not having enough of them because I do like to have 6-7 free agents who can don the black and white stripes. Anyway, once again, thank you. I'm happy in the knowledge that people won't/don't care too much about referees and I can happily make them up. xD

Looks very interesting and promising. If I am right there 3 mods that can be taken that far back and work. Mine and the two it was built off of D.O.T.T. and T.G.A. But thats helluva alot of workers. So my question is did you make a cutoff year when it comes to workers debuting? Mammoth I dont have a laptop so thats why I am asking. Is the NWF going to debut and be interesting to see how you handle Tennessee in the later years plus Georgia. Considering Ray Gunkel death brings war in Georgia. Is WCW going to be In Australia? Jim Barnett ran it if you didn't know.

I've seen your work before and I think I'm right in saying Matt Shannon's mod is going to be based on yours, which I think says a lot. So, you even looking over mine means a lot. </p><p> </p><p> My mod isn't actually based on anyone else's mod, every worker is being made from scratch. There are some things I'm importing, things like Networks that quite frankly, I really struggle with. But yeah, the workers are all going to be my own creations so I'm not making any promises that they'll work, but here's hoping. xD As for any "cutoff year" for debuting workers, I'm hoping to go right up to 2013/2014. However, I'll only be including those of note as not to completely bulk up the mod to the point it's nearly unplayable. For example, you'll have your Hulk Hogan's, The Rock's, John Cena's, CM Punk's etcetera but probably don't expect 2 Tuff Tony, Rich Swann etcetera.</p><p> </p><p> The NWA Buffalo Office has literally just transformed into the National Wrestling Federation (NWF) so like most things in my mod, it'll be up to the player how it goes. I want my mod to play out almost like a fantasy mod, I'm not necessarily going to set things up to play-out like they did in real life so the World Wide Wrestling Federation will only become the WWF if the player wants it too, I'm not going to set anything up to ensure it happens. I think the whole point of history mods is so people can change history, rather than play through it. Same applies to Georgia, because I'm not going to have any set deaths either because I think it would be much more fun to see how the world would play out if some of these guys survived. However, as for Tennessee, Jerry Jarrett will be splitting from Mid-America, so you'll have to wait and see how that plays out. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> I don't currently have any Australian promotions, but I've been thinking about including WCW Australia for a while actually so it may be something I add before release. Especially as they had a TV programme on the Nine Network and during the 70s, anybody who's anybody did a tour of Australia. In fact, just thinking about it has made me want to include them, so if I was you, I'd expect WCW Australia to be in the next update. xD</p><p> </p><p> Seriously, if you get a chance to look through it properly alvarasus, I'd really appreciate your input. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"> Merry Christmas.</p>

I should also add that it does seem like a lot of big stars during that time <strong>could</strong> have some ego/selfish/ruthless/manipulative personality issues mostly due to some of them the being extra protective of there reputation and image. Most of them wouldn't job to just anybody. I guess the bigger the draw the bigger payday the star gets.

Another preview if you're interested. Nothing in particular I need you to look through this time but if you'd give it a general looking over to see if there is anything in particular you feel needs addressing at this point, I'd be very grateful.

Right in the middle of EMLL's roster at the moment. There were next to no records for EMLL in 1970 so I've cheated a little bit with them by including guys who worked for them between 1965 and 1970. It's a very slow process as I'm doing everything by scratch but I'm hoping things will gradually get quicker as I add workers because obviously I'll find workers I've already created working for other promotions down the line. So yeah, any suggestions/questions/etcetera, I'm all eyes and ears. :)

Oh, and thank you, Basmat. I do a lot of research on people to find any potential relationships and personality traits but I didn't know that one about Bruno Sammartino.

Quick question, should I download the earlier picture pack? Reason I ask, I think there were only two belts in this most recent one(not counting the background cut).

No, every pic pack uploaded will be the full version. The reason there are only two belts is because I've only created two belts thus far. I started doing them thinking "I'll do some belts to give myself a rest from the workers" only to realise how much easier it would be if I did the workers first and then the belts so I can link the lineages as I go rather than having to go back through them. :)

xD Believe it or not, I included that one on purpose; it just oozed sleaze. None of the pictures are set in stone though so if other people are of the same disposition towards Joey's balls, you can expect it to be removed/changed. :p
