ECW 2000 - Balls to the Wall

Recommended Posts

The New Millennium. The clocks roll on, despite the already forgotten threat of Y2K, leaving people with jokes and a stockpile of toilet paper. One thing that also looms on, is the Big Three in pro wrestling. The World Wrestling Federation has come very, very far ahead in the Monday Night War, as World Championship Wrestling lost most of the audience that they had gained in the past few years.

But somewhere in Philadelphia, a volcano has erupted…

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/ECW.jpg

Paul Heyman is called a lot of things by a lot of people, but one thing everyone can agree upon is what he has done with a little niche promotion. Extreme Championship Wrestling is poised to make a run for the National level, and many are already calling them the number two promotion in the world after the decline that WCW have found themselves in. With a nation-wide television show in ECW on TNN, unopposed on Friday nights, the only thing for ECW to do is what it’s done all along, and that is to do what they do best.

Go Balls to the Wall.

Notes from the Writer: War of the Thrones is definitely not dead. This will be a side project alongside Smasher, as we tackle ECW and WWF in January of 2000. I do hope that you will all join along with both of us, as we hope to do well with this multiplayer game! Now, as of yet I'm not sure how detailed this will be compared to WCW, but I'll figure that out by the time I get into shows. So enjoy, and he will be posting his thread shortly! Also, yeah I know that video I posted there repeats itself after about a minute and a half.

What's Happening in ECW?

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/ecwonline.jpg

I don't know where this picture came from BUT I LOVE IT

August 27, 1999; almost five years to the second that Shane Douglas threw down the NWA World Championship and changed wrestling as we know it by making people take notice of Extreme Championship Wrestling, we changed wrestling again by debuting nationwide on “The Friday Night Thrillzone” on TNN! ECW on TNN has been a hit, scoring big ratings for the former country music channel, now just TNN; they’ve got pop! But did we really have to inherit TNN representative Cyrus in order to get the show? Joel Gertner, for one, wishes Cyrus would have stayed in the boardroom.

The Impact Players of Justin Credible and Lance Storm have been a thorn in the side of all in ECW since February of 1999. The duo has targeted the World Tag Team champions, an unlikely story in themselves, Tommy Dreamer and Raven. Dreamer and Raven were one of the biggest feuds of ECW’s younger years, but Raven has come back and sided with Dreamer in order to continue tormenting him…… as now, the only way Tommy can retain his titles, is for Raven to win as well. How much have the Impact Players gotten into the minds of the master manipulator, Raven, though? Not long ago on ECW on TNN, Raven was crucified by Credible and Storm to the ECW set, before caning him on the forehead. Raven claims that he will be “crucified nevermore” but what toll has it taken on him? And just to add more drama to the mix, what role will Francine play, will she side with Raven or Tommy? At Guilty as Charged, Raven and Dreamer defend the titles against Storm and Credible; will the champions be able to defend, or will there be another impact played? But first! This Friday night, a Stairway to Hell match exclusively on TNN, Tommy versus Justin! Who will come out with the lead?

Mike Awesome has regained the ECW World Heavyweight championship after losing it for seven days to Masato Tanaka. Who would possibly have the sheer balls to step up to face off with this mountain of a man next?! What about “The Giant Killer” Little Spike Dudley? On the final ECW on TNN of 1999, the closing image was of Awesome standing alone over both Spike and his groupie, in an attack that Spike will NOT let go unpunished! Will Spike live up to his nickname, or will he be yet another man to fall to the Awesome Bomb?

Steve Corino is another man who has gotten under people’s last nerve around ECW, but whereas Storm and Credible fight their own battles, Corino fights his from behind the hulking form of his “Rookie Monster” Rhino. After Corino was laid out by Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten at a Limp Bizkit concert, two weeks ago on ECW on TNN, Rhino laid out Balls, bloodying him with a steel chair and his bare fists! Rhino vowed that “No one will bother [steve Corino] EVER again,” Corino saying that it didn’t matter if it was Balls and Axl, Limp Bizkit, or Dusty Rhodes, NO ONE upstages Steve Corino! In fact, Corino has a lot to say about Dusty lately...

Other notable stories:

The ongoing saga goes on as Japanese star Yoshihiro Tajiri and loco luchador Super Crazy have had quite the feud, with the fans coming out as the only winners thus far. The two are set to square off at Guilty as Charged in a Dream Tag Team matchup, which will see both men choose any partner they want from backstage! Who will each man choose?

A hardcore battle rages between “Original Gangsta” New Jack and members of Da Baldies. Vito may be gone, but DeVito, Grimes, and “The Kingpin” Angel remain. The men have left parts of one another scraped across many weapons for months now, with no end in sight. Which side will finally back down first? New Jack and Angel are set to take part in a “King of the Streets” match at Guilty as Charged – will we finally see one side pull ahead of the other?

Mikey Whipwreck has come back to ECW from his year in WCW, and he isn’t quite the man he was before. He accepted a payoff from the Impact Players on the final ECW on TNN of 1999, though he didn’t finish the job. What else has changed in Mikey since the lovable loser we all used to know and love?

Simon Diamond has angered Jazz for quite some time now, especially at November 2 Remember when Simon mentioned her “ghetto booty”! Will she get her revenge, or will Simon say differently?

Confirmed for ECW Guilty As Charged 2000, as of January 1st, 2000:

ECW World Heavyweight Championship: Mike Awesome w/Judge Jeff Jones defends against Little Spike Dudley!

ECW World Television Championship: Rob Van Dam takes on former partner Sabu - where does Bill Alfonso stand?!

ECW World Tag Team Championships: Tommy Dreamer & Raven w/Francine defend against The Impact Players w/Dawn Marie!

The Sandman steps in the ring to face off against the vicious Rhino!

Dream Tag Teams Match featuring Super Crazy and Yoshihiro Tajiri!

“Original Gangsta” New Jack takes on “The Kingpin” of Da Baldies, Angel, in a King of the Streets match!

<p>Given how much more interesting I think my game world has become with Ritchardo joining, I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing how this collaboration pans out.</p><p> </p><p>

Now you just need someone to control WCW, and you'll really be set! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

In fact the only thing good about ECW from late 1999-2001 was Rob Van Dam. Sabu, Douglas, Bam Bam, Taz and The Dudley Boyz had all left for bigger things. Also I'm pretty sure WCW only raided ECW's talent in 1999-2000 to ensure ECW's national exposure was kept from surpassing there's. Otherwise why would anyone sign Mike Awesome to a (lol) $800,000 per year guaranteed contract?</p><p> </p><p> Good luck Beejus, should be interesting.</p>

<p>Man I loved it. They still had the RVD/Lynn stuff going on. They had Dreamer, they had Tajiri and Mikey Whipwreck with the Sinister Minister, they had Rhyno, they had the Impact Players who were my favorite tag team when I first discovered them. Oh and Mike Awesome. The firs time I saw Awesome/Masato Tanaka I was blown away. So yeah for me personally it was great. </p><p> </p><p>

For the record I would have signed Awesome to that contract dude has all kinds of talent. To each their own and what not I'll be reading for sure unless you don't push Awesome and the Impact Players then I'll hijack your thread and chant for them constantly <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I've saw your WCW dynasty and I enjoyed the style but that time period just doesn't really do much for me. I ran across this and I was wondering if you still had plans for it? I've been interested in watching the pay per views from around this time when the Network launches.

<p>Definitely! But as you see, it's a multiplayer game alongside Smasher's WWF: The New Millennium, so it's going to work a bit slower due to both of us having to take time to book and write.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks for looking in on both of my diaries though! Hopefully until we get this more and more going, you'll still be as interested! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I missed the note about Smasher being involved my apologies. I'll check back in a few weeks from now and hopefully something good is brewing <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>ECW on TNN : January Week 1, 2000</p><p> </p><p> Writer's Note: I got a bit tired of waiting for Smasher <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I've been sitting on this completed show for like two weeks now, and so I figured I'd go ahead and post it. He says that Simon has a problem, and it’s all Jazz’s fault! He says that ECW have told him that he’s not allowed to have Mitch or his Big Dick around anymore, and it’s all because Jazz went and cried like a little girl to Paul Heyman! Diamond says “Simon says that to get my revenge, you will be facing me in a match this Sunday at Guilty as Charged!” Jazz is pretty much fine with that, so it looks like a new match is set up for the pay-per-view!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>RATING: E+</strong></p><p> <strong>Notes: None.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>__*--**___**___**----**_____****___***___----__*-_</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/justincredible.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/lancestorm.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/dawnmaries.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> We head into the locker room again to see the Impact Players, Justin all prepared for his match later against Tommy. Credible says that tonight, he rends the flesh off the old man’s bones, and then Sunday, the Impact Players do what they do best – make an impact, especially against “whiny asshole’s skulls” which is said as he looks at the Singapore cane in his hands! Dawn bounces and cheers in the background, as Lance takes over, saying that not only are they better wrestlers than Raven and Dreamer, but they’re also better looking, better dressed, and their girl is hotter. The only thing left for them to do is put them out of their miseries, and that’s what they’re going to do at Guilty as Charged. Justin jumps back in to say that it’s not just the coolest, not just the best… Lance adds that it’s from Calgary… Alberta, Canada… and Justin closes by saying that is just, incredible! They hit the pose, as we head to static.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>RATING: C</strong></p><p> <strong>Notes: A lot of good things going on here; not only do Storm and Dawn have great chemistry together, Justin also has good chemistry with Dawn. It’s very back and forth, with each man having plenty of time to show his skills while Joey talks about the Dream Tag Match coming up this Sunday. In the end, Crazy is able to slip out of the brainbuster and hit a powerbomb, going up for the trifecta moonsault to get the pin!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>RATING: C</strong></p><p> <strong>Notes: 9:51. Crazy comes back, hitting a headscissors on Rhino to send him out of the ring alongside Tajiri, as Lynn gets ready to scoop Corino up into the cradle piledriver! Corino manages to slip away, much to the crowd’s displeasure, but Crazy gives his “gracias” to Jerry as the crowd are pleased. Joey wonders if Crazy will choose Lynn to have his back this Sunday in the Dream Tag Team Match!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>RATING: D</strong></p><p> <strong>Notes: None.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>__*--**___**___**----**_____****___***___----__*-_</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/tommydreamer.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/francines.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/vs.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/justincredible.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/dawnmaries.jpg</span></p><p> <span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Stairway to Hell Match</strong></span></p><p> </p><p> As Joey talks about the rules of the match, Joel drools over Dawn Marie. The match is chaos almost instantly, as these two guys really hate one another, and they use the even more lax than usual rules to do some serious damage in their quest to hurt each other before Guilty as Charged. Tommy is the one who manages to climb the ladder and get the Singapore cane down, but before he can get to use it, Lance Storm slips into the ring and drops him with a superkick! He holds Dreamer’s arms behind his back and Justin measures him…… WHAM! Credible levels Tommy in the forehead with the cane! Dawn jumps up and down (distracting Gertner again) as John Finnegan can only count the fall.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>RATING: D</strong></p><p> <strong>Notes: 9:10. Jones talks about how dominant Awesome has been over the past six months, and that “despite other companies claiming to have a ‘Millennium Man’ no big man in all of wrestling is more dominant, more powerful, or more awesome than Mike Awesome!” He says that Awesome has run roughshod over ECW ever since walking into the building last August, and that’s not going to change in the year 2000!</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/lsd.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> But <a href="http://youtu.be/YPbul229ZBU" rel="external nofollow">Spike Dudley</a> rushes out into the arena! Awesome drops the World title off to Jones, who bails out of the ring, and the fight is on! “Little Spike” hits some hard punches that rock Mike back into the ropes, but when he tries to fire Awesome to the other side, the champion blocks it by hitting a hard knee to Spike’s torso! Awesome looks to set Dudley up for the Awesome Bomb, but Spike slips out, grabbing Mike’s head and running up the turnbuckles – ACID DROP! Rob says that Fonzie will be right there on hand to call it down the middle, and we’ll finally get to see who the better man is, though we all know, even Sabu knows that it’s “Mr. Pay-Per-View, Rob – Van – Dam.”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/sabu.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/billalfonsos.jpg</span></p><p> Fonzie leaves that room, Van Dam saying that he has to “get hyped for the match” and walks into an adjacent locker room where Sabu is waiting. Fonzie then delivers a promo for Sabu, saying that he’s gonna call it right down the middle, daddy, Rob Van Dam against Sabu, it will be the big money match of the millennium! He says that he can’t wait to see the better man, whether it be Sabu or RVD, which causes Sabu to give him a glare, but Fonzie saves his own life by saying that he’s just calling it down the middle, but this Sunday, we could see the new TV champion in the “Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal Maniac” Sabu! Sabu poses, pointing at the ceiling, as we cut away.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/mikeawesome.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/jeffjoness.jpg</span></p><p> The World champion is backstage icing his head as Jeff Jones yells at the camera that when Spike Dudley did this to Mike Awesome the first time, they let him live. When he did it to Judge Jeff Jones, they took out his little tramp girlfriend. But now, he did it <em>again</em> to Mike Awesome? The Judge says that his executioner, Mike Awesome, hereby must inflict the death sentence, on Little Spike Dudley! Awesome stands up, incredibly (awesomely?) pissed off, and says that it will be his pleasure to kill that little runt, and Awesome Bomb him so far down into Hell that his brothers will never find him again!</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/stevecorino.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/rhino.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/jackvictorys.jpg</span></p><p> Back to Steve Corino and Rhino, who, along with Jack Victory, are mildly upset about Super Crazy and Jerry Lynn. Corino says that he’ll let Tajiri take care of that, though; they’re here to talk about The Sandman. Corino calls him a washed-up fossil of a dead age; “Nobody likes a guy who drinks on the job all the time, Sandman!” Rhino is much less eloquent though. He says “I wasn’t here when you won all your World titles. I wasn’t here when you became a big deal around here. So there’s no f****n’ reason that I’m gonna respect you, Sandman. And if I don’t respect you, then I’M GONNA *****N’ KILL YOU! GUILTY AS CHARGED! EXIT THE ******’ SANDMAN!” Rhino storms off, as Corino and Victory say calmly that “We really need to get him some anger management.”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/ECW/newjack.jpg</span></p><p> We close with New Jack, who says that this Sunday, he ain’t gonna be guilty of nothin’, except maybe the quadruple homicide that’s goin’ down in the King of the Streets match, when he takes Da Baldies, “slam they bald domes togetha’, and staple them all into one big, dumb lookin’ person” and finally prove that he is the King of the Streets, as well as having always been the “Original Gangsta”.</p><p> </p><p> Joey Styles signs off then, saying that everyone should join in on the first wrestling pay-per-view of the year, ECW Guilty as Charged!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>RATING: C-</strong></p><p> <strong>Notes: Fonzie has great chemistry with both RVD and Sabu, and he helped them both in their promos. <p>I think this really captures the ECW style.. All the pre-taped promos and the pulp fiction to close.. Obviously stayed pretty true to the real life go home show for GaC but it's looking promising so far.. I'm interested in where you go with Raven and Dreamer and whether you'll have Rhino vs Sandman actually take place.. Also intrigued as to whether you'll bring in Dusty for his awesome program with Corino..</p><p> </p><p>

Can't wait to see where you head..</p>
