Burning Openweight Tag Grand Prix #5: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium #2

0.Toshiki Shibanumo vs Atsumori Takemura

Veteran over the young lion.

1. Snow Lizzard (Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate) vs Murai Enomoto & Ryushi Sato*

Again veterans wins. Sato pinned.

* Main roster debut

2. Heiachiro Sakai vs Taro Shironoya

Junior VS Heavyweight, I'll go with the second.

3. Yokai Kingdom (The Awesome Kiyaru & Golden Scorpion) vs Barei Yasujiro & MYSTIC Dragon

Staying with the Junior Champion team.

4. 'P.I.N.K' : Marihito Masuko, Tadakuni Toshusai, Nisso Yuasha & The Incredible Koyama vs 'Team INSPIRE': VENOM, Yoshii Shiomi, Hirokumi Saito & Tatsuya Toshitala

The P.I.N.K big guns against the lowest INSPIRE ranks.

5. OTGP: American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther) vs The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae)

Veterans wins.

6. OTGP: Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno)

Probably Black Magic time.

7. OTGP: Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fugunaga vs The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki)

Team INSPIRE leader takes over.

8. OTGP: Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III vs Sensational Bombastics (Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Dragon)

Time for Horri and the 3rd to rebound, but a draw wouldn't surprised me.

0.Toshiki Shibanumo vs Atsumori Takemura

I go with more experienced guy as well.

1. Snow Lizzard (Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate) vs Murai Enomoto & Ryushi Sato*

If this would be anywhere else than Japan, I would go with the younger guys but I doubt debuting guy like Sato gets a win over establish veterans like Snow Lizard.

* Main roster debut

2. Heiachiro Sakai vs Taro Shionoya

Bit of a coin flip to me.

3. Yokai Kingdom (The Awesome Kiyaru & Golden Scorpion) vs Barei Yasujiro & MYSTIC Dragon

I assume that Dragon is the weak link on this one. Then again, I´m not too sure of that but I go with it anyway.

4. 'P.I.N.K' : Marihito Masuko, Tadakuni Toshusai, Nisso Yuasha & The Incredible Koyama vs 'Team INSPIRE': VENOM, Yoshii Shiomi, Hirokumi Saito & Tatsuya Toshitala

P.I.N.K is having their bigger guns while INSPIRE has a B-team so going to give this one to P.I.N.K.

5. OTGP: American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther) vs The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae)

Both teams are at 1-2 so they could use a win and I believe that Rebellion is the more important team out from these two.

6. OTGP: Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno)

Both teams have impressed so far. I actually could see this going the other way too since Raging Bulls do seem to get bit of a push with them going over the likes of The Manipulators and Team Burning Sekigun already during this tournament. Still, Black Magic is going to be my pick here.

7. OTGP: Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga vs The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki)

They need a win to keep themselves in the game and Kikkawa is big enough name to warrant that win.

8. OTGP: Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III vs Sensational Bombastics (Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Dragon)

Again, I´m going with the assumption that Horri and Elemental III are big enough names to stay in the hunt at this point.

0<strong>.Toshiki Shibanumo </strong>vs Atsumori Takemura</p><p>

<em>In your roster profiles you listed Toshiki as 32, but in my game he's in his 40s, so I'm guessing you put down the wrong age unless I'm just confused. It pains me to pick an old jobber to win here, but Takemura is still very much a young lion.</em></p><p> </p><p>

1.<strong> Snow Lizzard (Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate)</strong> vs Murai Enomoto & Ryushi Sato*</p><p>

* Main roster debut</p><p>

<em>I didn't think I'd be predicting back to back wins for Snow Lizzard, but their opponents are a jobber and young lion so I guess they're on a streak now.</em></p><p> </p><p>

2. Heiachiro Sakai vs <strong>Taro Shionoya</strong></p><p>

<em>Both guys are young with plenty of upside, but Taro is in a stable so I'll give him the edge here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

3. <strong>Yokai Kingdom (The Awesome Kiyaru & Golden Scorpion)</strong> vs Barei Yasujiro & MYSTIC Dragon</p><p>

<em>All 4 guys are on a similar level, so I'll give it to the named team rather than the makeshift one.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Like Zergon said, PINK brought their A-team to this match.</em></p><p> </p><p>

5. OTGP: American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther) vs <strong>The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae) </strong></p><p>

<em>This could go either way, but I don't really see either team being much of a contender in this tournament regardless of who wins this match.</em></p><p> </p><p>

6. OTGP: Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs <strong>Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno) </strong></p><p>

<em>Either team could win, but Black Magic winning sets up a title match for them down the road.</em></p><p> </p><p>

7. OTGP: Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga vs <strong>The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki) </strong></p><p>

<em>Going against the grain here and picking a Manipulators win. We're at about the halfway point in the tournament, and unless the tournament is booked even-steven then not everyone can be contenders going into the last day. I don't see Kikkawa & Fuganaga winning, or even being a true tag team, and with the winners of the previous match at a 4-1 record I don't see why they should play spoiler for the Manipulators who need a win to stay near the top of the pack.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>8. OTGP: Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III </strong>vs Sensational Bombastics (Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Dragon)</p><p>

<em>On the other hand I do see Horri & Elemental III as big enough names to stay in contention and play spoiler for the Sensational Bombastics; who will still be in the hunt even with a loss here.</em></p>

BHOTWG- Openweight Tag Grand Prix #5

Sunday 13th January 2014: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium #2, Osaka, Kansai (2,000 Super No Vacancy)

0. Toshiki Shibanumo vs Atsumori Takemura

Result: Toshiki Shibanumo [w] bt Atsumori Takemura [L] in 4:59 by pinfall after a Hashi-Plex (Bridging Leg Hook Belly to Back Suplex)

Rating: D

Dark Match Notes: In a short match, run of the mill match where the Osaka fans were more interested in visting the merchandise stall (where Toshusai was peddling his CD), the veteran Shibanumo got the better of the young lion Takemura.

Filmed for BurningHammerWorld.jp/TV

1. Snow Lizzard (Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate) vs

Murai Enomoto & Ryushi Sato

What happens when you put a well past their sell by date team in against a team of young lions, a not particularly good match that the fans couldn't give two umeboshi about. The match mostly consisted of Enomoto taking a slow methodical beat down (it was actually only 5 minutes, but it felt more like 50) from Snow Lizzard, before Enomoto finally managed to tag in Sato.

The 'Little Hammer' came in like a proverbial ball of fire, and went to town with a series of suplexes on Snow Lizzard- however he eventually ran out of steam and was unable to tag back out to Enomoto before being downed with the Freeze Frame from Kawate.

Result: Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate [w] bt Murai Enomoto & Ryushi Sato [L] in 6:38 when Kawate pinned Sato after a Freeze Frame (Forward Russian Legsweep)

Shionoya dominated the early going by simply overpowering and outbrawling Sakai, however 'Silver Service' managed to take a charging Shionoya off his feet with a basement drop kick, before following up with a Yakuza Kick (just as Shionoya was getting back to a vertical base) and a Legsweep DDT for a two count.

Sakai then applied a Kudo Lock to the 'Wrecking Ball' before deciding to switch over to the STF, but the young enforcer of Hasami-Gun managed to make it to the ropes and then took a powder, before reducing a highschool girl in the front row to tears, by yelling at her to vacate her seat. Shionoya grabbed the seat and then threatened to bring it into the ring, earning a scolding from referee Shinozaki.

Shionoya steps back into the ring and Sakai nails Shionoya witha Yakuza Kick, but the 'Wrecking Ball' shakes it off... Sakai then nails Shionoya with a Lariat, which brings the big man down to his knees, before going for the Shutter Speed (Sliding Lariat) but the 'Wrecking Ball' manages to get out of the way and then take down Sakai with a Shoulder Block, before planting 'Silver Service' with a Samoan Drop.

A Backdrop Suplex from the 'Wrecking Ball' then bought a two count, before Sakai eventually had to succumb to the devastating Toriko Bomb and the igominy of an arrogant one footed cover from Shionoya.

Result; Taro Shionoya [w] bt Heihachiro Sakai [L] in 7:49 by pinfall after a Toriko Bomb (Release Crucifix Powerbomb)

After a feeling out process of chain wrestling and admiring each one another's countering abilities, the match eventually breaks down into the inevitable dive sequence, that culminates with MYSTIC Dragon wiping everyone out with a Corkscrew Plancha.

Back inside the ring MYSTIC gets a two count with an original Dragon Driver (Scoop Brainbuster) on Kiyaru, and then goes up top but gets cut off by Scorpion who brings the 'Bright Warrior' crashing back in with a top rope Brainbuster.

Yokai Kingdom seize control for a bit, as they made the Junior champ endure some of their slick double teams such as the Corkscrew Neckbreaker onto Scorpions Knee or the Leg Lariat assited German Suplex Hold but Yasujiro was either on hand to break it up or MYSTIC was simply resillient enough to kick out.

Eventually MYSTIC managed to get Yasujiro tagged back into the match after drilling Kiyaru with a Twisting Brainbuster and then nailing Scorpion with a springboard Leg Lariat. Yasujiro managed to plant Scorpion with a Sitout Facebuster for a two count, before heading up top and then landing a Moonsault, only for Kiyaru to be there at the right time to save his tag partner.

Things broke down again, with the match spilling to the floor once again, before Kiyaru and Yasujiro brought things back into the ring....where Kiyaru planted Yasujiro with his trademark Tilt-A-Whirl Russian Legsweep- that then lead to Yokai Kingdom combining on the Walpurgisnacht (Turnbuckle Powerbomb followed by a Kip-up Rana), which was able to secure them the victory as Scorpion kept the Junior champ at bay.

Result: The Awesome Kiyaru [w] & Golden Scorpion bt Barei Yasujiro [L] & MYSTIC Dragon in 10:28 when Kiyaru pinned Yasujiro after the Walpurgisnacht (Turnbuckle Powerbomb/Kip-Up Rana Pin sequence)

P.I.N.K decide to jump Team INSPIRE before the bell has even rung and the match soon descends into a wild brawl that spills out into the crowd, where Yuasa scares an elderly couple and some 'Little Shinji's out of their seats before delivering a devastating Thunder Drop (Spinout Fireman's Carry Facebuster) to Hirokumi Saito onto a sea of chairs. Meanwhile somewhere else admidst all the chaos Toshitala gets a faceful of Pink Mist from Masuko and a Tornado DDT into the unforgiving thin ringside mats.

When the dust settles, to no one's surprise P.I.N.K are in complete control, with Shiomi suffering as 'Spencer Marks', but Masuko and his band of face painted chronies get complacent, and Shiomi manages to move out of the way of a Corner Splash from Yuasa before planting Koyama with a Wheelbarrow Bulldog, which gives 'The Sublime Jewel' the opportunity to tag in his regular tag partner VENOM.

VENOM nails Koyama with a step up corner knee strike, and then gets a two count with a Brainbuster- before combining on with Shiomi on an Enziguiri/Legsweep combo. Toshusai makes the save- and the match briefly descends into chaos again, until all of P.I.N.K suddenly find themselves caught in signature submission holds from the Team INSPIRE quartet with Shiomi neutralizing Masuko with the Stone Hold (Sharpshooter), Saito applying a Sleeper Hold to Yuasa, Toshitala catching Toshusai with the Shining Triangle (Running Triangle Choke) and Koyama caugvht with the Sting In The Tail (Calf Slicer).

But Yuasa manages to power out of the sleeper hold and then saves all his P.I.N.K comrades before one of them succumbs to the pain and taps out. That's as close as the Team INSPIRE quartet come to winning, as P.I.N.K seize back control in the closing stages, culminating in Toshitala being planted with the Atsuryoku Shokku (Electric Chair Dropped into a Facebuster) by Toshusai.

Result: Marihito Masuko, Tadakuni Toshusai [w], Nissho Yuasa & The Incredible Koyama bt VENOM, Yoshii Shiomi, Hirokumi Saito & Tatsuya Toshitala [L] in 10:16 when Toshusai pinned Toshitala after an Atsuryoku Shokku (Electric Chair Dropped into a Facebuster)

American Panther are accompanied to the ring by Ieyoshi Shimakage and some scantily clad local 'talent' he had picked up whilst cruising the Dotonbori district- which absolutely reeks of 'trouble' for The Rebellion.

http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a527/Kitarzu/Tigerkinney/IeyoshiShimakage_Hasami_zpsd8a2ef5c.jpg?880

Look up the word trouble in the dictionary and.....

Shimedzu and Panther start- Shimedzu gets the better of the exchanges, but Panther is able to scramble back to his corner after being on the receiving end of a Roundhouse kick. Miyamae and Optimus are now in, and once again the Rebellion member gets the better of the exchanges, this time getting a two count with a Shining Wizard.

The Rebellion take full control, and work over Optimus with some signature double teams, leading to some two counts off such combinations as the Bearhug Hold/Yakuza Kick and the Superkick/Reverse STO.

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQGLGtfq0RVp6ovTXv0IOX6NoQPSZabJ8LfCFIlNOZKRAZUVGyl

Referee Shinozaki couldn't help but be distracted

Seeing that their Hasami-Gun brethren are in trouble, the extra bodies come into play, as referee Shinozaki suddenly becomes distracted by the scantily clad attire of the un-named 'talent' Shimakage has brought along.

Shimakage sneaks into the ring and manages this time to not flout the no smoking policy of the building, by blowing the vapors of an e-cigarette (something that manages to make him look like an even bigger toss bag)into the eyes of The Rebellion much to the chagrin of the crowd.

Inevitablythe ensuing chaos allows for American Panther to take control, as they dump The Rebellion out of the ring, and then take out their opponents with stereo dives to the floor, where Shimakage gets in a few cheap shots.

After things settle down a bit, American Panther are now in control, isolating Shimedzu in their corner - they combine on the springboard leg-lariat/Brainbuster combo - leading to Miyamae to make a desperation save at the two count mark- before The Rebellion manage to turn things back around by whipping their opponents into opposing corners and landing stereo spinning heel kicks.

Optimus gets tossed out of the ring- and The Rebellion then set up for the Atama Supaiku (Aided Piledriver), but Shimakage proves a nuisance again by hopping up on the apron- Miyamae manages to kick Shimakage back down to the floor, but the distraction proves vital enough for American Optimus to send the 'Bald Dragon' crashing back into the ring with a Frankensteiner- before Red Panther stuns Shimedzu with a Falling Double Knee Backbreaker.

Miyamae is then tossed out to the floor, before Panther follows up with a Corkscrew Plancha. Leaving Optimus and Shimedzu to duke it out in the ring.....

American Optimus sets up for the O-Bomb (Running Powerbomb) only for Shimedzu to counter into a victory roll for a two count. They then go for fore-arm exchanges, until Optimus sneaks in an eye-rake and then drills Shimedzu with a Brainbuster.

Shimedzu kicks out, but Optimus plants the 'Sky Ninja' with a Powerbomb before Panther follows up with a springboard leg-drop......Miyamae tries to get back in but is held back by Shimakage (which leaves the crowd wondering why his ass hasn't been tossed by Shinozaki, though his brain has probably been scrambled by the sight of Shimakage's scantily clad 'friend') and the 'Panther Bomb' proves decisive, as American Panther move to 2-2 (4 Pts), whilst the wheels are coming off The Rebellion's challenge as they fall to 1-3 (2 Pts).

Result: American Optimus & Red Panther [w] bt Shimedzu [L] & Miyamae in 11:23 when Panther pinned Shimedzu after the Panther Bomb (Powerbomb/Springboard Legdrop Combo)

Rating: B-

Red Panther: Totes Amaze-Balls Babay

American Optimus: Who says that we can't hang with the big boys, we proved right here that when it comes to tag team wresting, size does not matter one iota.....we faced a true heavyweight team right here in The Rebellion and we proved ourselves to be much the stronger!

Miyamae: American Panther did not beat us out there, we were beaten by other factors- that cretin Shimakage, the sheer incompetence of those in charge in dealing with that cretin. We now have a mountain to climb to stay in this competition, all because that stain on society is not dealt with accordingly- but The Rebellion will not give not, we will never give up- Shimedzu and I will keep on battling until all hope is lost.

Before the match starts, Black Magic tell Shimakage to go have some fun with his Dotonbori pick up out back- as they can clearly handle the Raging Bulls all by themselves- they are the biggest and baddest team in BHOTWG after all and aren't in need of the extra help.

Hamacho and Taira start off, and after a stare-down and some trash talking they unload on one another, with a barrage of fore-arms and chops. That leads to a stale-mate, which leads to Taira challenging Hamacho to knock him down with shoulder tackles. Hamacho tries but he can't get the 'Bulldozer' off his feet, and then gets levelled with a clothesline and whipped into the Black Magic corner.

Hamacho gets worked over for a bit, but then manages to avoid a Running Corner Big Boot from Masuno, before taking out Taira with a Spear. Hamacho gets the tag to Sanda, who then knocks Taira silly with an Explosion Kick (Running Bicycle Kick) and then follows up with a Corner Yakuza Kick to Masuno. But before Sanda could turn his attention back to covering Taira, the 'Bulldozer' had enough where with all to roll out of the ring.

That leads to the action spilling to the floor and the two teams brawling into the crowd, despite giving up a disadvantage in size, the Raging Bulls remain on the ascendency, but they keep things out on the floor a bit too long and Black Magic soon turn things back around, as Hamacho ends up taking a huge back body-drop from Taira into a sea of chairs.

When proceedings are brought back into the ring, Sanda finds himself isolated in the Black Magic corner....A Double team Delayed Suplex gets a two count, before Black Magic looked to be setting up for the Black Death (Spike Powerbomb) but Hamacho was able to intervene.

Black Magic stay in control and whip both of the Raging Bulls hard into opposing corners, but both of the tag champs, get their feet up as Black Magic simultaneously charge at their opponents. Black Magic charge again but this time the Bulls explode out of the corner , as Sanda nails Masuno with a Yazuka Kick, and Hamacho knocks Taira silly with a Lariat.....

Black Magic stay on their feet but then get whipped into the corners themselves, and this time Taira gets knocked silly with a Yakuza Kick from Sanda, whilst Masuno suffers a Lariat from Hamacho.

Taira then gets dumped with a double team belly to back suplex, before The Raging Bulls combine on the Bulls On Parade (Yazuza Kick assisted German Suplex Hold) on Masuno

Taira manages to make the desperation save, but gets tossed out of the ring by the Bulls- who then take Masuno out with the Raging Impact (Spear/Yakuza Kick combo)- as the reigning World Tag Team champions pick up a big victory against one of their nearest rivals and take the out-right lead (as they OTGP moves past it's midway point) by moving to 4-1 (8 Pts), whilst Black Magic fall back to 3-2 (6 Pts). Perhaps the mulleted behemoths should have asked Shimakage to stick around after all.

Result: Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda [w] bt Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno [L] in 11:03 after the Raging Impact (Yakzua Kick/Spear combo)

Eiji Hamacho: Onward Sanda-san and I march on, proving to everyone , the most obvious fact in all of wrestling- that the Raging Bulls are the greatest tag team in the world. I don't care if our dominance of the tag ranks will get a bit boring for everyone- another team needs to step up to be on our level- but can another team meet the impossibly high bar that Sanda-san and I have set for everyone else to meet?

Chuichi Sanda: Black Magic thought they were stronger than us, so much so that they were actually arrogant enough to send away their little helpers. We are already a superior team to them, so they gave up the paper thin chance they had of getting one over on us.

Yasuhiko Taira: Raging Bullshit you got lucky, you got real lucky this time round. 99.99% of the time, we would destroy those old has beens. Yeah I said has-beens, that's exactly what Raging Bullshit are, a pair of old has-beens who coast by on luck, and luck alone! Next time we see you Raging Bullshit, we are breaking you apart, we are gonna break you so hard- that you'll regret ever getting lucky against the most dominant force in all of puroresu.

Fuganaga is adamant that he start things off for his team, with the Openweight Champion desperate to show he is on the more senior member of Team INSPIRE's level. Iesada starts things off for The Manipulators and he gets the better of Fuganaga in some mat exchanges- much to the frustration of the man who deems himself to be 'Serious Business'.

Fuganaga dusts himself off, and then refuses to tag out to Kikkawa, deciding instead to lock up with Okazaki who has just been tagged in. Once again though Fuganaga finds himself 'schooled' by his more experienced opponent and ends up getting caught in a Century Crab Lift (Cross Legged Boston Crab), which concerns Kikkawa enough for the INSPIRE leader to step inside the ring and unleash a barrage of chops to Okazaki to force the 'Ruthless Bringer' to break the submission.

Fuganaga finally decides to tag Kikkawa into the match- who goes toe to toe with Iesada. 'The Dangerous One' manages to duck a discus elbow smash from Kikkawa, and then takes the 'Strong Arm Emperor' off his feet with a Dragon Screw Legwhip.

The Manipulators manage to isolate Kikkawa and work him over in their corner for a bit, as they seize control of the match. Kikkawa kicks out of the Double Vertical Suplex lift into a Neckbreaker, but then has to suffer The Manipulators slapping on stereo armbar submissions....

Fuganaga seeing that Kikkawa is having his arms ripped from his torso, makes the desperation save, stomping away on Okazaki and Iesada until they are forced to release the double submission.....

Okazaki however soon takes Fuganaga down with a Drop Toe Hold and neutralizes 'Serious Business' with an STF, whilst Iesada goes back to applying a Cross Arm Breaker to Kikkawa- but the 'Strong Arm Emperor' manages to somehow find the inner strength to lift Iesada up and dump the 'Dangerous' one with a modified version of the KIKKAWA DRIVER (Sitout Side Powerslam).....

Okazaki releases Fuganaga from the STF and then stomps away on Kikkawa, breaking up a weak looking cover from the INSPIRE leader. Iesada and Okazaki then try to take down Kikkawa with stereo high kicks (possibly looking to set up for the Damu-Kohai) but Kikkawa shakes their kicks as if he was being brushed with a couple of feathers- before taking both of The Manipulators down with a double clothesline.

Kikkawa himself then drops to the canvas in agony, clutching his arms. Eventually the 'Strong Arm Emperor' is able to tag a fired up Fuganaga back into the match, and 'Serious Business' cleans house, taking out Okazaki with a Running Corner Drop-Kick and then dumping Iesada with a Backdrop Suplex.

Fuganaga then nails Iesada with the HIZA NOSHINTO! (Running Knee Strike To The Face).....

But Okazaki is able to make the desperation save.....

'Ruthless Bringer' goes to nail Fuganaga with a high kick, but his leg gets caught and Fuganaga is able to counter into an Ankle Lock. Okazaki manages to roll through the Ankle Lock however- but Fuganaga rolls through again and this time turns it into a Fugu Sunappu (Inverted Figure Four Ankle Lock).

Iesada comes into break things up before thoughts of tapping out cross the mind of Okazaki, but gets dumped out of the ring by Fuganaga. Fuganaga the decides to apply a sleeper hold to Okazaki, but 'Ruthless Bringer' manages to fight his way out of it, and then suddenly hit the OKAZAKI EXPLOSION (Wrist Clutch Exploder)....

But Okazaki is too worn down to make the cover, and instead looks to make the tag to Iesada....

Both Okazaki and Fuganaga crawl slowly to their corners, with absolutely nothing left in the tank.... Okazaki gets to Iesada first, and the 'Dangerous One' is able to cut Fuganaga off from getting the tag to Kikkawa.

Iesada looks to set up for the Blackout Driver (Cradle Piledriver) but Fuganaga manages to fight it off and counters with a Leghook STO.

Fuganaga then decides to go up to the second turnbuckle, before nailing Iesada with a Jumping version of the Hiza Noshinto to the back of the head......

That buys Fuganaga enough time to get the tag to Kikkawa.....

Kikkawa knocks Okazaki off the apron and then turns his attention to Iesada. The 'Dangerous One' rallies with some rapid fire chops, but soon gets levelled with a Running Elbow smash from the 'Strong Arm Emperor' Iesada staggers back up to his feet but is then dumped with a Death Valley Driver.....

Kikkawa removes his elbow pad, waits for Iesada to rise once again and then levels his loyalist lieutenant with the KIKKAWA LARIAT!

One....

Two....

Okazaki tries to come in to make the save, but gets cut off by Fuganaga...

Three!

Kikkawa and Fuganaga keep themselves in the race by moving up to 2-3 (4 Pts) but in turn end up denting the chances of their fellow Team INSPIRE compatriots, The Manipulators who now find themselves at 2-2 (4 Pts).

Result: Tadiyuki Kikkawa [w] & Mitsunari Fugunaga bt Tasuku Iesada [L] & Masaaki Okazaki in 17:36 when Kikkawa pinned Iesada after a Kikkawa Lariat (Lariat with Elbow Pad removal theatrics)

Rating: B

Post match The Manipulators look frustrated at their loss and some tension is teased between them and their conquerors. But the Team INSPIRE members end up giving a respectful handshake to one another before Iesada and Okazaki raise the arms of Kikkawa and Fuganaga, and the quartet end up standing proudly together in unison.

Tasuku Iesada: I never want to feel another Kikkawa- Lariat again...I just feel glad that for tje most part Kikkawa-san and I fight alongside one another rather than against each other. Kikkawa-san is the greatest this sport has ever seen and I feel blessed to at least be able to live in his shadow and compete with him.

Masaaki Okakazki: Bitterly, bitterly disappointed that we lost, but if we had to lose to someone then grudgingly I am pleased that it is to our fellow Team INSPIRE brethren. Kikkawa-san and Fuganaga-san got the better of us on this occassion and we just have to accept that. We can still win the Tag Grand Prix, but Iesada-san and myself can ill afford to have any more slip ups.

Tadiyuki Kikkawa: Team INSPIRE - all of us myself, Fuganaga-san and The Manipulators all showed just how strong a force we were in that match. It pained me greatly to have to put Iesada-san to the sword, but Fuganaga-san and myself needed to win this match - we are far too proud to throw away our own hopes of winning the Grand Prix. I'm sure that Okazaki-san and Iesada-san understand that.

Mitsunari Fuganaga: I know those fans look at me, and see me as notch below the remaining originals of Team INSPIRE, even though right now I'm the only one holding championship gold right now amongst my INSPIRE brethren. But I proved to everyone today, that I am as good as anyone in that ring, and it's high time everyone took Fuganaga-san extremely seriously.

Nakasawa and Horri get in each other's faces before the match, with Nakasawa 'taunting' Horri by holding up the Burning World Championship right in front of Horri's face. The Hasami-Gun pair then decide to 'jump' their opponents whilst referee Umeki is checking Horri and Elemental over.

The fighting soon spills out to the floor, and Horri gets whipped into a barricade by Nakasawa and then sent into the crowd with a clothesline. Meanwhile Dragon and Elemental III re-enter the ring, the 'Universal Hero' blocks a Tilt-A-Whirl DDT and counters with an arm-drag. Elemental III then nails Dragon with a drop-kick after a rapid paced rope running sequence and then looks to make the tag to Horri.....

Only Horri hasn't quite recovered yet, which allows for Dragon to nail Elemental from behind..... Dragon then whips Elemental into the corner, and then goes for the Haruhi Kick, but the 'Universal Hero' manages to move out of the way at the last split second and nails Dragon with a Tiger Feint Kick.

Elemental then goes out onto the apron to set up for a springboard maneuvre, but that proves to be a mistake as Nakasawa comes over and pulls Elemental's legs out from underneath, causing the third incarnation of Burning Hammer's masked legacy into a crash landing on the unforgiving apron.

Dragon the see's the opportunity to show off, and runs up to the turnbuckle and then hit's a picture perfect moonsault press that wipes out Elemental. Before posing in front of the fans and telling them that he is 'God's Gift to Wrestling!'

The Sensational one pitches Elemental back into the ring, and then slows the pace down a bit by applying a Cross Armed Surfboard. Elemental manages to show some fortitude and battles his way to the ropes....

But relief is not forthcoming for Elemental, when Dragon decides to tag Nakasawa into the match. Nakasawa toys with the 'Burning Sekigun's premier Junior' for a bit, by arrogantly paintbrushing Elemental. That only serves to fire up Elemental who comes back with a flurry of kicks, but Nakasawa arrogantly brushes them off and then levels the 'Universal Hero' with a fore-arm smash.

Nakasawa then turns things back over to Dragon, who peppers Elemental with some kicks and then drills the masked fan favourite with a Brainbuster. Elemental manages to kick out at two but remains in trouble as all Horri (who has now found his way back to the Sekigun corner) can do is look on in frustration.

The Sensational Bombastics then decided to turn it up a notch, as Nakasawa is tagged back in and drapes a dazed Elemental across the ropes, before Dragon hit's a flipping senton. They aren't done there as Nakasawa scoops Elemental onto his shoulder like a half filled sack of spuds and then plants the 'Universal Hero' with a Fireman's carry Neckbreaker, whilst Dragon simultaneously nails Elemental with a Flying Knee Strike......

One....

Two.....

Horri has seen enough and makes the desperation save, but he's soon admonished for doing so by referee Umeki, which allows for the Bombastics to briefly dump Elemental to the floor, where their Hasami-Gun compatriots American Panther are ready and waiting to lay a few extra boots in.

Elemental gets dumped back into the ring and is duly whipped into the corner, where he gets nailed with a corner clothesline from Nakasawa and then with a slingshot corner drop-kick from the Sensational One.

Nakasawa then sets up Elemental for a Powerbomb as Dragon heads up top- but somehow despite all the punishment he has endured the 'Universal Hero' has enough left in the tank to counter into a victory roll- that ends up with Dragon accidentally double stomping his own partner.

Elemental then nails the self proclaimed 'Gods Gift to Wresting' with a Roundhouse Kick, before looking to make the tag out to Horri, only for American Panther to increase their involvement and attack 'Burning Heart' at ringside.....

Horri manages to fend off the Junior Tag champs, taking them down with a double clothesline, but the distraction is enough for Nakasawa to recover and prevent Elemental from tagging out....

But Elemental III manages to duck an elbow smash attempt from Nakasawa and then nails the World Champion with a Tiger feint kick, before taking out both Nakasawa and Dragon with a split legged springboard missile drop-kick.

That allows for Elemental III to finally get the tag to Horri, which gets a huge response from the Osaka crowd......

'Burning Heart' cleans house...peppering Nakasawa with a flurry of fore-arms before whipping Nakasawa into the corner and nailing the World Champion with a charging hip attack......Horri turns around and Dragon comes charging with the Haruhi Kick (High Velocity corner drop kick) but Horri manages to move out of the way and Dragon ends up nailing Nakasawa instead!

Before Horri plants Dragon with the HARIKEN HAKAI (High Angle Spinning Spinebuster).......

Nakasawa managed to shake off the effects of being nailed in the face by his own partner and manages to make the last ditch save....

Horri and Nakasawa then get in each other's faces and trade fore-arms and chops, before Horri ends up clotheslining the World Champion over the top rope- the momentum of which also sends 'Burning Heart' to the floor......

Dragon then picks himself up off the mat but soon finds himself drop-kicked to the floor by a recovered Elemental III..... The 'Universal Hero' then winds up and ends up wiping everyone out (tag partner as collateral included) with his trademark Elemental Space Flying Drop (a jaw droppingly beautiful no hands plancha past down every generation of the Elemental legacy).

After the dust has settled the 'Universal Hero' pitches Dragon back into the ring and sets up for the Elemental Suplex (Bridging Double Arm Suplex)- 'Gods Gift to Wrestling' tries his best to fight out of it, but Elemental eventually wins the battle and plants Dragon with a perfect bridge......

Victory Cheer!

' Nakasawa-san when we meet again in Tokyo at the Ryogoku Kokukigan, I will be taking back the World Championship you stole from me and putting it back around the waist of a champion these fans can be truly proud of.....But before that Elemental-san and I may have made a rocky start to this years Openweight Tag Grand Prix, but we are still in this and we will do all we can to win it from here on out- it will be tough, our fate is not in our hands but as long as we keep doing you fans proud, we will keep on believing!

If you're hear to cheer me or someone else, keep supporting the best wrestling company in the world...Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods! ....THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND I LOVE YOU ALL.......BURNING PATH FOREVER!!!'

The victorious duo then did a victory lap of the arena, slapping hands with lots of Little Shinji's and Little Sasaki's and wiping their sacred sweat onto their own merchandise.

Hiroaki Nakasawa: Horri-san remember this you did not pin me out there, and come Quest of Heart you still won't be pinning me....when it comes to when it truly matters I will always have the better of you. Anyway as for tonight, Dragon-san and myself will bounce back from this, our challenge is far from over!

Elemental III: I really don't know how we won that match, but I'm glad that we did...it looked like curtains for us, or more specifically for me for most of that match but I'm guess I can count my blessings that I can call upon such a fantastic tag partner to save my bacon....

Kinnojo Horri: My wonderful partner right here, is selling himself far too short, it was his bravery and his resillience that won us this match and still kept us in the hunt to win this years Openweight Tag Grand Prix. If Elemental-san here didn't put in such a gutsy performance, against and it pains me to say it given their grating arrogance...two of the very best here in Burning Hammer....we would be looking at being 1-4 and with our chances of finishing top all but over it.... As it is our destiny in this tournament, is still out of our hands but hope remains.

Muronic Moments: Monkeys and Mullets

http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a527/Kitarzu/Tigerkinney/MitsunariFugunaga_INSPIRE_zps5b4b3a78.jpg?293

No Sense of Humour

Sipping on a can of Boss coffee that he had procured from the vending machine inside the Izumo Gymnasium, Mitsunari Fuganaga had a bitter look strewn across his face, was it from the low grade black coffee out of a can that he was consuming or was it from the fact that I just blasted him for yet another immature reaction, to some mild ribbing from the boys in the locker-room in regards to his cringe inducing 'comedian' father FUGU 1:25.

http://www.rachelleb.com/images/2013/04/arashiyama_monkey_park_iwatayama_rules.jpg

Unfortunately for the monkeys FUGU 1:25 ignored the park rules.

The latest kerfuffle regarding Fuganaga all stemmed from the latest FUGU 1:25 TV appearance, that saw the disconcerting mirth maker, visit the Iwatayama Monkey Park on Mount Arashima just outside Kyoto. During his visit Fuganaga's embarrassing dad french kissed macacque monkeys and then pretended to give one of the monkey's, what one might term a 'handjob'.

Well when the locker-room caught site of this latest video, they couldn't help but gossip about the latest embarrassing episode from Fuganaga's estranged father. Amongst them was Yasuhiko Taira. Enraged at Taira's mocking tone of his father- Fuganaga picked up some scissors and cut an eighth of a millimetre off Taira's prized possession......his Mullet!

http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a527/Kitarzu/Tigerkinney/YasuhikoTaira_Hasami_zpsb2c6e197.jpg

Do NOT touch his mullet!

This resulted in me walking in on Taira and Fuganaga engaging in 'handbags' with each other. I dealt with Taira, first saying that he should know better than to react like that, whilst also avoiding bringing up the fact that getting stressed out over losing a tiny bit of his beloved mullet really wasn't worth getting that upset over- before turning my attention to serial offender Fugunaga.

Pulling the follicly challenged humorless soul out of the dressing room, I told him that he really needs to buck his idea's up and stop over-reacting every time the rest of the locker-room mocked his father, and I also asked that if he didn't care for his father why would he get this upset anyway? I gave one final warning to Fuganaga, either change his ways or risk being jobbed down the card and shipped out once his contract was up. Fuganaga scowled as I walked away, but I felt positive that the threat of my final words to him had managed to get through.

Results from BHOTWG- Openweight Tag Grand Prix #6

Tuesday 15th January 2014: Izumo Gymnasium , Izumo , Chugoku

(2,000 Super No Vacancy)

0. Solid State: Hachigoro Maeda [w] & Haru Kurofuji bt Bairei Yasujiro & White Samurai [L] in 6:15 when Maeda pinned White Samurai after an Elemental Suplex Hold.

Rating: D

Live Show Notes: Action was OK, but the Izumo fans just couldn't care less about this 'bonus' match, they knew who would end up taking the fall in this one.

1. Taro Shionoya & Ieyoshi Shimakage [w] bt Heihachiro Sakai & Atsumori Takemura [L] in 6:38 when Shimakage pinned Takemura after an Atama-Sakakiri (Package Piledriver)

Rating: C

Live Show Notes: These 'young' lion tag contests usually end up being surprisingly entertaining because the Hasami-Gun bottom feeders are pretty good at getting heat, especially Shimakage who is a born natural for playing an obnoxious heel. Sakai and Takemura fought from underneath all match, but there were enough hope spots packed into six and a half minutes to engage the crowd before Takemura finally succumbed to the Atama-Sakakiri from Shimakage.

2. Non Title: MYSTIC Dragon [w] bt Reijiro Hiraki [L] in 5:44 by pinfall after a Dragon Driver (Scoop Brainbuster)

Rating: C

Live Show Notes: As expected the Junior champion had control for near enough the entire length of the match but the young lion Hiraki showed enough guts and fire here to prevent the contest from being a total squash.

3. VENOM, Yoshii Shiomi & Hirokumi Saito [w] bt Ryushi Sato [L], Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda in 9:01 when Saito pinned Sato after a Saito Flasher (High Standing Knee Strike)

Rating: C-

Live Show Notes: One of those midcard six man tags featuring a mix of lower and midcard talent, that just feels like all six men are just going through the motions- bigger stars can get by with 'coasting by' due to their star power and immediate connection with the crowd but when it's with competitors of this standing, then left with not much at all really. For anyone who cared INSPIRE B-Lister Hirokumi Saito picked up the win after pinning recent Hinote Dojo call up the similarly named Ryushi Sato.

4. Tadiyuki Kikkawa, Mitsunari Fugunaga [w] & Tatsuya Toshitala bt Nissho Yuasa, Toshiki Shibanumo & The Incredible Koyama [L] in 9:23 when Fugunaga made Koyama tap out to the Fugu Kowareta (Cross Arm Breaker)

Rating: C

Live Show Notes: More run of the mill six man tag action, though just the mere prescence of the legendary Tadiyuki Kikkawa gave this one a lift- even if he did spend most of the match twiddling his thumbs on the apron. He did to his credit though let his tag partner Mitsunari Fuganaga take the glory in this one, when he made Koyama tap out to the Fugu Kowareta (Cross Arm Breaker).

5. OTGP: The Manipulators: Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki [w]bt The Rebellion: Shimedzu & Miyamae [L] in 11:17 when Okazaki made Miyamae tap out to the Kitoaji Armbar (Short Armbar)

Rating: B-

Live Show Notes: The first of this shows OTGP contests featured plenty of back and forth action and some well executed teamwork from both teams, but considering that both teams were desperate for a win here (The Manipulators to get back on track after 2 straight losses, The Rebellion needing a win to give themselves any sort of hope of winning the OTGP ) the match just lacked that extra bit of fire to take it from being a good match to a great one. In the end it was The Manipulators who proved themselves to be the stronger team on this occassion when Miyamae ended up succumbing to the Kitoaji Armbar.

The Manipulators get back on track, and are now at 3-2 (6 Pts), whilst The Rebellion at 1-4 (2 Pts) now have no chance of winning this years OTGP and are now just fighting for pride/playing spoiler for the remainder of the competition.

6. OTGP: Kinnojo Horri [w] & Elemental III bt American Panther: American Optimus & Red Panther [L] in 9:04 when Horri pinned after a Destiny Bomb (Gutwrench Powerbomb)

Rating: B-

Live Show Notes: This match was formula stuff with Elemental III playing Spencer Marks, before getting the hot tag into Kinnojo Horri - who then ultimately proved to be too much for the Junior tag champs to handle. Predictable but the crowd enjoyed it, because Horri and Elemental are admittedly rather good at playing heroic babyfaces that get the 'Little Shinji's' in the crowd all excited.

After two straight wins, Horri & Elemental 3-2 (6 Pts) are right back in contention, but American Panther suffer a set-back and now find themselves at 2-3 (4 Pts)

7. OTGP: P.I.N.K : Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai [w] bt Raging Bulls: Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda [L] in 15:57 when Toshusai pinned Sanda after a URUSAI! (Sliding Fore Arm Smash)

Rating: B-

Live Show Notes: Raging Bulls controlled the early going, with the smallest man in the match Masuko isolated in their corner, but the former two time junior champion found a way to escape their clutches and get tag to Toshusai.

From that point on the momentum of the match swung back and forth, until Masuko swung the momentum permanently in the P.I.N.K's pair favour when he blinded both of the Raging Bulls with the pink mist, whilst Toshusai had referee Shinozaki distracted. Masuko then tagged in Toshusai who then proceeded to finish off Sanda with the URUSAI! This was pretty decent stuff, until the slightly screwy finish that irritated some of the more traditionalist fans in attendance.

The P.I.N.K A- Team continue to battle back from their 0-3 start, and are now at 2-3 (4 Pts). The Raging Bulls at 4-2 (8 Pts) are still well in the mix for winning the title but have lost their outright lead.

8. OTGP: Sensational Bombastics: Hiroaki Nakasawa [w] & Sensational Dragon bt Black Magic: Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno [L] in 16:54 when Nakasawa pinned Masuno after a Sudden Impact Lariat (Wrist Lock Short Arm Lariat)

Rating: B

Live Show Notes: Those worried about any screwy nonsense in this all Hasami-Gun affair need not of worried, as they played this one as a straight competitive contest and besides the screwy finish quota was used up with Marihito Masuko utilizing the Pink Mist in the semi main event.

Sensational Dragon showed that though dick heel is his more natural forte, he's also pretty good at playing an underdog fighting from underneath when he needs to. The story here was that despite dominating the match Black Magic just couldn't find a way to put a super determined Dragon away, and through skill, guts and luck the Sensational one finally got the hot tag into a fresh Hiroaki Nakasawa- who after a few back and forth exchanges picked up the win for the Sensational Bombastics when he levelled Masuno with the Sudden Impact Lariat.

Black Magic now find themselves at 3-3 after the set back, whilst their fellow Hasami-Gun brethren the Sensational Bombastics now find themselves at the top of the standings on 4-2 (8 Pts)

* Post match Black Magic look pissed about losing, after dominating the match for so long- but they soon accept their defeat and embrace with their Hasami-Gun comrades, before being joined by the rest of Hasami-Gun- as the dominant heel faction stands tall in the ring together. Nakasawa briefly gets on the mic and declares that whether it his himself and Dragon or Black Magic....Hasami-Gun would be winning this years Openweight Tag Grand Prix.

Loving this so far. I was curious to see how the new writing format would pan out but for the most part I've enjoyed it.

PS as someone who's three years deep into his person BHOTWG game, I popped when I saw that Taro & Shimakage were teaming up. Two of my favorite low end BHOTWG guys.

Results from BHOTWG- Openweight Tag Grand Prix #7

Thursday 17th January 2014: Hakata Star Lanes, Fukuoka , Kyushu

(2,000 Super No Vacancy)

0. Ieyoshi Shimakage [w] bt Murai Enomoto [L] in 4:45 by pinfall after a Ketsunoana Driver (Over the Shoulder Belly to Back Piledriver)

Rating: D+

Live Show Notes: About half of the Fukuoka crowd watched and were mildly entertained by this pre-show match that saw these two vastly different young lions go back and forth for about five minutes until Shimakage got in a low blow and then put Enomoto away with the Ketsunoana Driver.

1. MYSTIC Dragon [w] & Ryushi Sato bt Toshiki Shibanumo & The Incredible Koyama [L] in 6:40 when MYSTIC pinned Koyama after a Dragon Driver II (Sitout Scoopslam Piledriver)

Rating: C

Live Show Notes: A decent opening contest, with recent Hinote Dojo call up Ryushi Sato getting the crowd behind him by showing plenty of fire. The finish of the match saw the P.I.N.K B team take control but Koyama got over confident and ended up crashing and burning on an Air Koyama before being planted with the Dragon Driver II.

2. Yoshii Shiomi [w], VENOM & Tatsuya Toshitala bt Atsumori Takemura [L], Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda in 8:17 when Shiomi pinned Takemura after the Harukaze (Wheelbarrow Facebuster/Diving Knee Drop combo)

Rating: C-

Live Show Notes: Run of the mill six man tag- everyone got their stuff in but it felt a bit rushed. As expected it was one of the young lions that ended up taking the fall here with Takemura being taken out with FLP!'s signature combo the Harukaze.

3. Yokai Kingdom: The Awesome Kiyaru & Golden Scorpion [w] bt Bairei Yasujiro & Reijiro Hiraki in 6:46 when Scorpion pinned Hiraki after a Kuromonogatari (Gory Special dropped into a Piledriver)

Rating: C-

Live Show Notes: Yokai Kingdom basically did a greatest hits of their repertoire before Scorpion ended up putting away the young lion Reijiro Hiraki in relatively quick fashion.

4. Yasuhiko Taira, Yasunobu Masuno [w] & Taro Shionoya bt Heihachiro Sakai [L] , Sanetomo Shiraishi & Sessue Kawate in 9:21 when Masuno made Sakai tap out to the Day of Rackening (Argentine Backbreaker Rack)

Rating: C-

Live Show Notes: A decent plucky underdog performance from Heiachiro Sakai whilst he was having his ass handed to him by the trio of Hasami-Gun 'monster' heels saved this match from being complete dogshit, unfortunately he had to tag in the two has beens known as Snow Lizzard at some point. In the end with Snow Lizzard laid out (or more to the point ' blown up') on the floor, Sakai ended up tapping out when put in the Day of Rackening by Masuno.

5. OTGP: The Manipulators: Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki bt American Panther: American Optimus & Red Panther in 9:52 when Okazaki pinned Optimus following the Damu-Kohai (Stereo High Kicks followed by a Spinning Heel Kick/Legweep combo)

Rating: B-

Live Show Notes: This was pretty good for the 10 minutes in ran for, with the Junior Tag champions speedy high flying style initially causing The Manipulators plenty of problems, however once Iesada and Okazaki were able to ground their opponents they were able to seize control of the match and ended up picking up an important win when they put Optimus away when they combined on the Damu-Kohai kick sequence combo.

The Manipulators are now on 4-2 (8 Pts) putting themselves firmly in contention to win the OTGP going into the final two days, whilst American Panther at 2-4 (4 Pts) find themselves playing only for pride.

6. OTGP: The Rebellion: Shimedzu & Miyamae [w] bt Raging Bulls: Eiji Hamacho [L] & Chuichi Sanda in 10:11 when Miyamae pinned Hamacho after the Inka-Ten (Stereo Superkicks to a kneeling opponent)

Rating: B-

Live Show Notes: Though not completely one sided the Raging Bulls were in control in much of the match, but The Rebellion were determined not to have five straight losses, so the Tag champs were unable to put their former rivals away- this lead to the Bulls making mistakes resulting Hamacho accidentally levelling Sanda with the Macho-Lariat.....The Rebellion then swiftly took advantage of this when they took out Sanda with the Inka-Ten Superkick combo, to pull off their second 'upset' victory in the tournament.

Gone are the days when The Rebellion were the team to beat but the fans can still buy into them being capable enough to pull off the odd upset here and there.

After a strong start the Raging Bulls chances of winning the tournament is slipping away as they fall to their second straight loss and are now on 4-3 (8 Pts)- their 'rest day' comes next in Kyoto and hope results go their way to still be in with a chance of winning the tournament on the final day in Yokohama. The Rebellion manage to avoid posting up 5 straight defeats and are now at 2-4 (4 Pts).

7. OTGP: P.I.N.K: Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai [w] bt Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III [L] in 15:10 when Toshusai pinned Elemental III after the P.I.N.K Dream (Vertical Suplex/Diving Bulldog Combination)

Rating: B

Live Show Notes: Whilst no one would go out and call this match a MOTYC, this was a really enjoyable semi main event and the best the P.I.N.K duo of Masuko & Toshusai have looked all tournament. This is definitely what you would call an 'open' match with neither side really having sustained control for any period of time.

The match was at it's best when Masuko and Elemental III engaged in some exciting chain wrestling exchanges, though Horri and Toshusai did their part getting the crowd hyped up with some smashmouth brawling. In the end it was the P.I.N.K A Team who were able to win out after a frenzied exchange of kick-outs and counters when they put Elemental III away with the P.I.N.K Dream.

That's three straight wins now for P.I.N.K after that dreadful 0-3 start, and though it's out of their hands at 3-3 (6 Pts) they now have hope (albeit slim hope) of pulling off a complete turnaround and winning the tournament. Horri & Elemental III now find themselves on exactly the same record after what has been a very up and down 2014 OTGP campaign.

8. Tadiyuki Kikkawa [w] & Mitsunari Fugunaga bt Sensational Bombastics: Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Dragon [L] in 18:15 when Kikkawa pinned Dragon after a Kikkawa Driver 2K9 (Over The Shoulder Reverse Piledriver)

Rating: B

Live Show Notes: As expected with the calibre of talent in the ring, the main event was enjoyable and certainly had the Fukuoka crowd on the edge of their seats and getting behind every nearfall by the end of the match, it didn't really surpass the match that came before it.

If you had to find a fault with the match, then it's because it was far too similar to the match that proceeded it, identically following the same back and forth formula of the P.I.N.K vs Horri/Elemental contest- down to

the rapid fire exchange of nearfalls at the end of the match.

The finish saw Sensational Dragon get levelled by a Kikkawa Lariat, show some fighting spirit by kicking out at 2.99 before being drilled with a Kikkawa Driver, as Fuganaga was able to just hold off Nakasawa from making the save.

Sensational Dragon's suffer a set-back and at 4-3 (8 Pts) their hopes of winning the OTGP this year are now out of their hands. At 3-3 (6 Pts) Kikkawa & Fuganaga are still unlikely to end up with the title but like the P.I.N.K A Team of Toshusai & Masuko earlier, have kept their campaign alive with this victory.

* Post match Tadiyuki Kikkawa grabbed the microphone- He admitted that himself and Fuganaga had likely blown their chance of winning the tournament during earlier events but they would go on to win the rest of their matches, see what happens and keep the pressure on the teams that lie above them in the standings.

Kikkawa then said that he was far from finished as a dominant force in BHOTWG and that he would run through all of Hasami-Gun before taking the World Championship from Nakasawa.

This one is progressing nicely and I do love this kind of tournaments.

One question though. Raging Bulls and Black Magic were both at 3-1 before facing each other´s and Raging Bulls won that match according to show write up yet they only have 3 wins after seven rounds. Did Black Magic actually won that encounter or was the points just mixed up for those two teams (or have I just miscounted somewhere myself)?

Good spot- well at the very least I can say that people are reading this diary properly and being observant :p

I think when I was playing the game I must have flip flopped on who won the match between Black Magic and Raging Bulls. The good thing is that the outcome of the match did not effect the tournament and won't result in me having to reboot the diary. :)

I've made the necessary adjustments and previous posts have been corrected.

It's a bit complicated to say the least, but here are the permutations on who could win this years Openweight Tag Grand Prix, should teams finish level on points a top the standings.

American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther) 2-4 (4 Pts)

vs Black Magic Kyoto

vs Raging Bulls Yokohama

The reigning Junior Tag Team Champions American Panther are no longer in position to win the tournament. The best they can hope for is to finish win an even 4-4 record.

Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno) 3-3 (6 Pts)

vs American Panther Kyoto

vs Kikkawa & Fuganaga Yokohama

Black Magic can at best finish on 5-3 (10 Pts) and that could be enough to see them win the tournament, provided that a fair number of teams slip up elsewhere. They must hope that the Sensational Bombastics and The Raging Bulls lose their remaining match, whilst The Manipulators slip up in their remaining two fixtures. However should they finish level on points with P.I.N.K and Horri/Elemental, then they hold the head to head advantage over those teams.

'Burning Sekigun' (Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III) 3-3 (6 Pts)

vs The Manipulators Kyoto

vs The Rebellion Yokohama

Horri and Elemental are amongst a number of teams that can finish on 5-3 (10 Pts) but hope that results go their way into order to win the tournament. The up coming match up with The Manipulators in Kyoto, is a must win match for both teams and could go a long way to deciding the fate of both teams. They must also hope that the Raging Bulls, P.I.N.K and Black Magic all slip up as those are the teams they have head to head losses against- however they do hold a head to head victory over the Sensational Bombastics who could also finish on the same points.

The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki) 4-2 (8 Pts)

vs Horri & Elemental Kyoto

vs P.I.N.K Yohohama

The Manipulators are the only two team that could win the tournament without having to rely on the permutations of head to head records. Win their final two matches and they finish with a 6-2 record (12 Pts), however it is imperative that they win both of their matches, because should they lose to either Horri/Elemental or P.I.N.K in their final two matches and finish on the same record 5-3 (10 Pts) then they would miss out on winning the tournament due to their inferior head to head record with those teams.

P.I.N.K (Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai) 3-3 (6 Pts)

vs Sensational Bombastics Kyoto

vs The Manipulators Yokohama

Despite a terrible 0-3 start, defending champions P.I.N.K now find themselves in position to make a successful 'defence' of their title. If Masuko & Toshusai are able to win their final two maches against The Sensational Bombastics and The Manipulators and Black Magic slip up against Kikkawa & Fuganaga in Yokohama, then they will be crowned the winners.

Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) 4-3 (8 Pts)

vs American Panther Yokohama

The reigning World Tag Team Champions The Raging Bulls, will be expected to win their final match against American Panther in Yokohama to finish on a 5-3 (10 Pts) record, which may be enough to see them win the tournament. But they must hope that results go their way elsewhere across the two shows in Kyoto and Yokohama in order to be crowned champions. The Bulls need The Manipulators to lose one of their matches, and must also hope that both Black Magic, P.I.N.K, Kikkawa/Fuganaga and The Sensational Bombastics all slip up due to their head to head losses against those teams.

The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae)2-4 (4 Pts)

vs Raging Bulls Kyoto

vs Horri & Elemental Yokohama

Like American Panther The Rebellion are no longer able to win the tournament. The best they can hope for is to finish the tournament with an even record.

Sensational Bombastics (Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Bombastics) 4-3 (8 Pts)

vs P.I.N.K Kyoto

The best the Bombastics can do is defeat P.I.N.K in Kyoto , finish on 5-3 (10 Pts) and then hope results go their way in Yokohama, when they will be having their rest day. In order to win they need Black Magic, The Manipulators and Kikkawa & Fuganaga all to slip up in Kyoto. Then for The Manipulators and Horri/Elemental to slip up in Yokohama, with a head to head victory over The Raging Bulls who could also end up 5-3 (10 Pts)- The Sensational Bombastics could still find themselves crowned champions without having wrestled the final round of matches in Yokohama.

'Team INSPIRE' (Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga) 3-3 (6 Pts)

vs The Rebellion Kyoto

vs Black Magic Yokohama

The Team INSPIRE pair can finish on 5-3 (10 Pts) but like everyone else results need to go their way in order for them to come out on top as the winner of this years Openweight Tag Grand Prix due to head to head losses against The Raging Bulls, Horri/Elemental and P.I.N.K.

In order to win they need Sensational Bombastics to beat P.I.N.K in Kyoto (due to their head to head victory over Nakasawa/Dragon) and that The Manipulators lose to Horri/Elemental. Then in Yokohama the need The Manipulators to beat P.I.N.K and that Horri/Elemental and The Raging Bulls slip up in their matches against The Rebellion and American Panther.

_____________________________________________________________

Right now the only team that truly has their fate in their own hands is The Manipulators (Iesada & Okazaki) who just need to win their final two matches to finish a top the standings. However should they slip up in Kyoto, that blows things wide open again and 7 out of the 9 teams are still in with a chance of finishing as champions of this years Openweight Tag Grand Prix.

0. The Incredible Koyama vs White Samurai

White Samurai loses

1. Mystic Dragon & Murai Enomoto vs Nisso Yuasha & Toshiki Shibanumo

Dragon deserves the win.

2. Hachigoro Maeda, Haru Kurofuji & Atsumori Takemura vs VENOM, Shiomi & Hirokumi Saito

Takemura takes the fall here -- but this match could go either way.

3. The Awesome Kiyaru, Golden Scorpion & Heiachiro Sakai vs Hyosuke Kokan, Kansuke Konda & Ryushi Sato

Sato gets pinned until he stops being "young lion".

4. Non Title: Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs Taro Shionoya & Ieyoshi Shimakage

A tune-up match for the Bulls.

5. OTGP: Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno) vs American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther)

Black Magic will get the win. It wouldn't surprise me if American Panther drop the belts soon -- they've been looking week compared to their competition.

6. OTGP: The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae) vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga

Kikkiwa and Fuganaga are far more over, and a Rebellion win here would be a huge upset.

7. OTGP: Sensational Bombastics (Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Dragon) vs P.I.N.K (Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai)

P.I.N.K. have won three straight, have a match tomorrow where they can play spoiler against the leaders with a chance to walk away with the tournament with a win.

8. OTGP: The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki) vs Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III

I think a clear "#1" is good going into the final match -- plus, this is again two heavyweights versus a junior heavyweight. This will make P.I.N.K. vs. The Manipulators a "final" tomorrow, with Iesada and Okazaki clear favorites.

BHOTWG- Openweight Tag Grand Prix #9 (Final Round): Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium

0. Ryushi Sato vs Atsumori Takemura

1. Non Title: Mystic Dragon vs Reijiro Hiraki

Dragon takes the non-title.

2. Solid State (Hachigoro Maeda & Haru Kurofuji) vs Bairei Yasujiro & White Samurai

Team over non-Team.

3. The Awesome Kiyaru, Golden Scorpion & Heiachiro Sakai vs 'Team INSPIRE': VENOM, Yoshii Shiomi & Hirokumi Saito

Team over non-team

4. 'Hasami-Gun': Hiroaki Nakasawa, Sensational Dragon, Taro Shionoya & Ieyoshi Shimakage vs Sanetomo Shiraishi, Sessue Kawate, Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda

Team over non-team, again.

Order of Matches 5-8 subject to change depending on results in Kyoto

OTGP: Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III vs The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae)

Horri and Elemental will be playing for pride here. I think this is the most likely match, with two junior heavyweights involved, to be "playing for second/third"

OTGP: Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga vs Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno)

Of the two, Black Magic needs less to happen to win the tournament, so they take the win here and hope American Panther can pull off the unlikely upset.

OTGP: American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther) vs Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda)

This is an interesting matchup from a booking perspective, as a loss by the Bulls opens the doors for Black Magic and Kikkawa and Fuganaga. American Panther can play major spoilers to either team, so it makes sense their match goes on as late as possible.

OTGP: P.I.N.K (Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai) vs The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki)

I think this leads to a larger feud between P.I.N.K. and INSPIRE or continue the already simmering one, with The Manipulators winning with it all on the line against P.I.N.K. with a somewhat questionable finish.

Tigerkinney, out of interest, if P.I.N.K., Black Magic, The Raging Bulls and The Manipulators all finish 5-3, who wins the head-to-head, or do we get a lightning round?

A Lightning Round would be in the BURNING TRADITION of doing things.

I think it would be head to head, as usually it's done in puroresu tournaments or in another case, for the football/soccer Italian Serie A.

Burning Openweight Tag Grand Prix #8: Kyoto KBS Hall

0. The Incredible Koyama vs White Samurai

White Samurai doesn´t win

1. Mystic Dragon & Murai Enomoto vs Nisso Yuasha & Toshiki Shibanumo

I give this one to the P.I.N.K duo.

2. Hachigoro Maeda, Haru Kurofuji & Atsumori Takemura vs VENOM, Shiomi & Hirokumi Saito

I just see the INSPIRE trio as the stronger unit.

3. The Awesome Kiyaru, Golden Scorpion & Heiachiro Sakai vs Hyosuke Kokan, Kansuke Konda & Ryushi Sato

This is mostly just personal preference as Scorpion is one of my favorite BHOTWG guys.

4. Non Title: Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda) vs Taro Shionoya & Ieyoshi Shimakage

Bulls won´t drop this one.

5. OTGP: Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno) vs American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther)

Black Magic keeps their hope alive.

6. OTGP: The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae) vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga

Rebellion gets a feel good win while dropping Kikkawa and Fuganaga out from contention since Fuganaga´s recent backstage antics warrant a punisment.

7. OTGP: Sensational Bombastics (Hiroaki Nakasawa & Sensational Dragon) vs P.I.N.K (Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai)

Bombastics keep their hopes alive while eliminating P.I.N.K´s hopes on winning the tournament.

8. OTGP: The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki) vs Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III

Manipulators lose here in order to set-up a trilling end where lots of teams might end with the same point total.

BHOTWG- Openweight Tag Grand Prix #9 (Final Round): Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium

0. Ryushi Sato vs Atsumori Takemura

No idea on this one but I give tit to Takamura since he´s bit more established.

1. Non Title: Mystic Dragon vs Reijiro Hiraki

I would assume that Dragon is higher on the pecking order By quite a lot.

2. Solid State (Hachigoro Maeda & Haru Kurofuji) vs Bairei Yasujiro & White Samurai

There´s White Samurai on one side so it´s bit of an auto-win for his opponents.

3. The Awesome Kiyaru, Golden Scorpion & Heiachiro Sakai vs 'Team INSPIRE': VENOM, Yoshii Shiomi & Hirokumi Saito

To me, this is a close one that could easily go either way and on those cases I usually go with stable over non-stable guys so INSPIRE trio gets this one.

4. 'Hasami-Gun': Hiroaki Nakasawa, Sensational Dragon, Taro Shionoya & Ieyoshi Shimakage vs Sanetomo Shiraishi, Sessue Kawate, Hyosuke Kokan & Kansuke Konda

I would go with Nakasawa even if he would be alone against all four of his opponents so yeah... not a hard pick :p

Order of Matches 5-8 subject to change depending on results in Kyoto

OTGP: American Panther (American Optimus & Red Panther) vs Raging Bulls (Eiji Hamacho & Chuichi Sanda)

Bulls end up thir tournament on a high note By beating American Panther.

OTGP: Kinnojo Horri & Elemental III vs The Rebellion (Shimedzu & Miyamae)

Rebellion got their feel good win from last show (assuming that I was right of course :D) so I have Horri and Elemental III going over in this one.

OTGP: P.I.N.K (Marihito Masuko & Tadakuni Toshusai) vs The Manipulators (Tasuku Iesada & Masaaki Okazaki)

Manipulators are just better on my opinion.

OTGP: Tadiyuki Kikkawa & Mitsunari Fuganaga vs Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno)

I go with Black Magic here as Fuganaga looks like the weak link on this one. That said, I do have a sneaking feeling that I must be wrong somewhere as if my math is right, four team would end up at the top of the standing with 5-3 record and it´s probably a bit too complicated to count who actually won in that case. :p

Your math is off as you've got five.. I did a quick run-down here from Tigerkinney's write-up.

Black Magic: L (Raging Bulls, Sensational Bombastics, The Manipulators) | 1-3

Raging Bulls: L (The Manipulators, Sensational Bombastics) | 2-2

Manipulators: L (Horri/Elemental)| 3-1

Horri/Elemental: L (Raging Bulls, Black Magic)| 2-2

Sensational Bombastics: L (The Manipulators, Horri/Elemental)| 2-2

So by tiebreaker logic, The Manipulators would be champions over the team they had just lost to on night eight.

Yeah, your right, for some reason I thought there was 8 team in the tournament isntead of 9 and forgot about Sensational Bombastics (I´m sure Dragon will have a word with me on that slip-up :o) since they didn´t have a tournament match in the last show.
