Going to nominate <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2064214&postcount=154" rel="external nofollow">The Great American Bash</a> from WCW91-Birth of a Company, with a Texas Twist by tg01 for Spotlight. Seeing this diary suddenly resurface after more than a year was a very pleasant surprise, and the Bash was a wonderful return show. I eagerly anticipate seeing where tg01 goes from here.

Thank you so much Satyr:).

My Mod DOTM nominee is WWE: The Longest-Running Weekly Episodic Cluster of Shows in TV History! A real fun read and IMO is the best 'fantasy' dynasty in the forums.

For [my first] C_Verse DOTM, I'd like to nominate the <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=530632&page=9" rel="external nofollow">David Mack Chronicles: NYCW 2014 -- A Changing of the Guard </a>. Dragonmack is one of my favorite writers, and his work is both unique and exceptional, and he always immerses the individual player into the larger game world.

We should be up-to-date right now on nominations. Make sure to get your nominations in.

Next month, I am thinking about instituting a brand new category called the Legends category. I am working on my thoughts about the criteria. Right now, I am thinking that it won't be a category that is specifically nominated for. But if someone who fits the legends criteria has a diary nominated, it will automatically be, also, added into the Legends Category. This would pit Cornellverse versus Real World in one category. I would love thoughts and input on this.

I really enjoy this idea with "Legends Competing with One Another". I think having "Legends" comprised to its own category would solve a common problem -- often, a Diary that wins a whole lot (say, SWF: The Dark Age) will not get a nomination despite a great month due as it has already won more than once.

Has there been any consideration made for a seperation between newer dynasty-writers and older ones? Not necessarily Rookie DOTM, but maybe a category for people that haven't won DOTM yet? To give people that are newer to the art more of a chance.

If we're throwing out thoughts and such for new categories, how about giving Real World dynasties a category of their own? It's kinda disheartening as a non-Cornellverse writer (occasionally) to almost always see Real World dynasties take home the Mod DOTM.

When we expanded the real world category to Mod so as to include those diaries that didn't fit into either the real world or C-Verse sections and thus were excluded from the DOTM polls, I believe that both the real world and 'fantasy', for lack of a better term, were in kind of a lull. I don't follow the non-real world segment closely enough to judge, but if there are enough of those diaries around these days to sustain their own category every month this could be something to consider.

As for angel's original idea: not sure how it would work in practice, but it sounds interesting in theory. I certainly wouldn't object if you wanted to at least test it out.

I like this idea....We could call it the midcard dynasty of the month lol!

I'd like to nominate Pteroid's Wacky World of Wrestling (Thunderverse Platinum) diary for Mod DOTM. It's by no means a epic serious tale of a wrestling powerhouse, but it is a lot of fun and of all the diaries I'm reading right now it's the one that I get the most enjoyment from.

I would like to second this.

The split between C-Verse Diaries and Real World Diaries always made sense to me since there were a large number of writers and readers of both, but most people generally read either C-verse or Real World without paying much attention to the other category and therefore it would be unfair to have the vote split between people who would have no interest in half the nominees regardless of quality.

In the past few years there's been a big rise in the number of people playing fantasy mods, Thunderverse especially, and for the most part it's a very different group of people from those who play and read real world TEW Games. Now there aren't as many T-Verse diaries out there as there are C-Verse or Real World, but there are still a good number of them out there and now that the Thunderverse has gotten GDS's (first ever) official seal of approval I think it's time that they got their own category.

I like all three of these ideas and would love to see them all included. I've see a growing # of T-Verse diaries poping up on the forums but they never seem to get the nominations over real world ones just because a lot of people don't like anything but the real world mods. Would be nice to see the T-Verse and other verses get some love. Sorry K-Nection but I think the "Rookie" one should be called the Shooting Star Dairy of the Month not midcard, midcard seems so bland.

Or we could go with Developmental Dynasty of the month

<p>I envision the Legends concept very differently from the former "Rookie DOTM" poll -- (not sure how to word this, but I strongly hinted at it in the original edit and in my original post) HOF writers would not be eligible for the DOTM and the MOD DOTM categories, only the Legends category. </p><p> </p><p>

Last month's CVerse DOTM Winner (The Lloyd) and the Mod DOTM Winner (The Final Countdown) would be eligible for the Legends category this month, but are not eligible for DOTM on the current system <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2061059&postcount=87" rel="external nofollow">[beejus and The Lloyd are new inductees]</a>. The addition of my proposed "Legends" Category addresses the community issue with back-to-back winners (another Hall of Famer, Beejus, won the Monthly Spotlight) in a different way than the current system, and allows for more writers to be eligible for recognition and appeal. </p><p> </p><p>

I think with the HOF writers excluded, there would be far less "repeat winners" in CVerse DOTM and Mod DOTM and the rule could be phased out, and ideally non-HOF writers would be eligible for nomination for CVerse DOTM and Mod DOTM.</p>

<p>This will not be a popular opinion but hey I could care less if it is.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> In my opinion the whole voting process for these "awards" has turned into a joke over the last couple of years. I mean there were End of Year Awards that were only open up to certain people to nominate and vote. The public did not even know about it, the awards just popped up one day. Also, you have a better chance of getting into the HOF if you have HOF readers because their votes count more. </p><p> </p><p> I have said it in the past and I will say it again, there is a whole elitist feel to the voting process that was not there before. Now with a Legends Award it will have an even more elitist feel to it. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="MHero" data-cite="MHero" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="39666" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>If we're throwing out thoughts and such for new categories, how about giving Real World dynasties a category of their own? It's kinda disheartening as a non-Cornellverse writer (occasionally) to almost always see Real World dynasties take home the Mod DOTM.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The last time this was brought up I made a joke about how we should have an award for every niche diary out there. I still stand by that, I mean it is like we are in a Monty Python's skit, "Let us have an award for diaries that are mainly updated on Thursdays at 7:14 Eastern Standard Time by people who type only with their left hand."</p><p> </p><p> How man fictional diaries (non-C-Verse) are currently running now anyways? I will be honest I never pay attention to anything beyond Real World and C-Verse diaries so I am asking that as a real question.</p><p> </p><p> Maybe the audience is just not there for those diaries and that is why people do not vote for them. Or maybe those diaries need more loyal/vocal readers who will nominate and vote for those diaries. This board has become a Real World dominated board as of late. It used to be a C-Verse dominated board but that is no longer the case (After all how many C-Verse diaries are nominated this month? I think as of right now it is only two.).</p><p> </p><p> Though I really do not see how losing to say Beejus and TFC (Using them as examples as I know they win on a regular basis) in the MOD DOTM is any different than losing to Eisen-Verse or James Casey (Once again just using them as examples) in the C-Verse DOTM. People are going to vote for them no matter what and that is all there is too it. </p><p> </p><p> I remember thinking to myself, (When I used to want to win DOTM, once I won I realized it was not that big of a deal to me.), "Okay I have no shot of winning.", every time I would see my name up there against Eisen, James, D-Mack, or Phantom Stranger. Maybe I should have requested someone make an award for me that could only be awarded to people with a B as the first letter in their username. Actually scratch that BigPapa would totally whip my ass in that category if that was a category...<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> As far as Rookie goes, I liked the Rookie DOTM but it did get to a point where people were not starting enough new diaries to merit having it around. There are a ton of people on here who start and stop diaries on a near monthly basis does that mean they will always be up for Rookie DOTM?</p>
