Jason Azaria and Kyle Rhodes welcome us to TCW WrestlePocalypse, the first ever of TCW’s flagship annual events. They first remind us of how Richie Pangrazzio Jr. and Rip Chord got to become the first two wrestlers to headline WrestlePocalypse, following their victories at The War To Settle The Score. They later talk about the Brute Alexei vs. Whistler rivalry and how it has really heated up over the last couple of months. They also inform us that The Untouchables have defeated Chris Vessey, Jason Jackson & Ricky Dale Johnson in a 6-man tag team dark match before the show began airing on PPV. They briefly speak about the other matches on the card tonight, and particularly discuss the ongoing rivalry between Sam Strong and Womanizer Robbie Gordon, and how Strong returned after 6 weeks of absence to hunt down Gordon. And speaking of the man himself…

Strong: Finally, Sam Strong has come back, to… AT-LAN-TIIIIIIIIC CITYYYYYYYYYYYYY! *The crowd goes nuts*

Strong: This is a very, very special place for me, brother. This is where it all started for this industry, brother. A sport, combined with a simple idea, and amazing vocal crowds like you guys, took professional wrestling from a simple vision to the dominant industry in sports entertainment that it is today. This is also where it all started, for me, brother. I was born in the nearby city of Yonkers, NY and it is only few miles away from this town where I had my one-year training for professional wrestling, before making my in-ring debut. And now, more than two decades later, I stand before you, listening to you cheer for me, and I know for sure, that my career is far from over, brother. For three months now, I’ve been literally stripped from opportunities to get my hands on Rip Chord and the TCW World Championship. Strong sarcastically laughs, and there are heavy cheers in the crowd in response to Strong’s taunt using Gordon’s catchphrase.

Strong: And of course, as you all know, after I’m done dealing with Gordon, it will be time to take out the champ. My biggest all-time nemesis Rip Chord today carries the TCW World Championship, the one and only reason that had me reconsider my retirement from professional wrestling, and put it off for a few years…

Rip Chord’s music hits and he comes out on stage to a mixed reaction, with a mic in his hand…

Chord: My dear Uncle Sam… On the first show ever that TCW held, you came out to that very ring and did nothing but talking, and talking, and talking, about how you will become the TCW World Champion. And now, three months have passed by, and you’re still right where you were. Honestly, I don’t know how long you’re going to keep talking rather than achieving, but I think it’s going to take a long time. See, I don’t buy all your lame excuses about people getting in your way, I believe that when there’s a will there’s a way, and you can find that way. But honestly, I think you’re just too scared of facing me Sam, because you know I am the best at what I do, and I will kick your ass and destroy your dream of becoming TCW World Champion. You will finally realize that you would have had rather retired, and left the scene for those who deserve to be in it.

Strong: I am going to agree with you on one thing you said, brother, it’s time to stop talking and start acting. This is exactly what I was saying, so I hope you find a way to beat Richie tonight, because I will be coming for you, brother!

Spirit Warriors vs. Eric Tyler & Vengeance (w. Professor Nero)

This match was all you would expect from an opener. It witnessed the speed and technique of Spirit Warriors against the strength and brutality of Tyler & Vengeance. After some very nice back and forth action, the finish saw Tyler hit the Tradition Lift on Golden Fox and pin him for the win.

Result: The Eric Tyler & Vengeance (w. Professor Nero) defeated Spirit Warriors in 9:08 when Eric Tyler defeated Golden Fox by pinfall with a Tradition Lift.

Rating: C

After the match, Tyler and Vengeance assault Dark EAGLE while Golden Fox is still recovering. As Fox recovers, Vengeance plants him with a Vengeance Drop. Tyler then asks Vengeance to bring a table, and he gets one from under the ring. Tyler drags Dark EAGLE back to the middle of the ring, and hits him with a Tradition Lift through the table.

The Vessey Brothers run in, and they want their hands on The Justice Mafia, who cost them the Tag Team titles a few days earlier. Tyler & Vengeance have enough time to escape however, as they retreat to the locker room alongside Professor Nero, who is devilishly laughing. The Vessey Brothers and some medics are in the ring checking on Spirit Warriors.

Tasha rudely interrupts Emma and strips her off the microphone to make a statement.

Tasha: That’s enough introductions, darling. We don’t have much time. There have been statements recently, from the one called Whistler, who thinks he’s good enough to stand up for America in the face of the Russian Demolition Machine, accusing Alexei of “underhanded tactics and blindsided attacks”. Whistler has even got to the point of calling Alexei a coward, who’s afraid to face him fair and square. Well, this makes me laugh. Honestly, it makes me cry… Tonight, we’ll make it easy for you Whistler. You will go first, and wait for us in the ring. Alexei will square against you, fair and square, and he will crush you. Whistler, tonight, you and this flag of yours, you go down!

We go to The All-Star Team locker room where they are all gathered for a prep talk from Coach Dick. Coach tells Chris he should probably start thinking about teaming up with someone other than Jason Jackson, after this second loss. He then tells Bryan & Larry that he understands they want revenge on The Justice Mafia for costing them the Tag Team titles, but now that they have revoked their rematch clause, they should focus on beating The Blazing Flames and getting their titles back, and they can deal with The Justice Mafia later. He finally gives Richie a motivational speech, and tells him he can beat Chord and become TCW World Champion. He reminds him of the great match he put up against Chord at Malice In Wonderland, and how close he came to victory.

Azaria reminds us that Dixie defeated Ashley Amazon once again to retain her title on TCW Total Wrestling, while Catherine Quine defeated Belle Bryden a week later to become the #1 contender.

Belle Bryden joins the announcing table as a guest color commentary. After some solid action early on in the match, Catherine seemed in control and was setting up Dixie for the Cat’s Cradle, when Belle jumped off the announce table and screamed at Catherine, allowing Dixie time to recover. Catherine got distracted arguing with Bryden, and when she turned around, she walked straight into a Kiss of Death…

Result: Dixie Diamond © defeated Catherine Quine in 6:04 by pinfall with a Kiss of Death. Dixie Diamond makes her defence number 4 of the TCW Women’s Championship.

Whistler: Man, did you see the band Painful Procedures singing the National Anthem at the beginning of the show? It gave me goosebumps. Now all I have to do is go out there and face that Russian coward, and give him the beating that he deserves. You brought this upon yourself, Alexei, and now you will pay!

We go to Professor Nero’s office, Liberty comes in slamming the door and looking furious.

Liberty: How could you possibly book me against Demon Spite, with his tag team partner at ringside? This is a disadvantage, and that’s not fair in a title match on the first ever WrestlePocalypse. I am not afraid of facing any of the Demons, as long as it’s fair. This match should be changed, and Demon Anger shouldn’t be at ringside.

Nero: Fair enough. Jesus you do like to complain, don’t you? Here’s the deal. Anger will not be on Spite’s ringside tonight, but this also means that your manager, Emma Chase, will not be at yours. Also, since you are so confident and not afraid of facing any of the Demons; then if you, somehow, find a way to beat Spite tonight, the next time you will be defending your title, it will be against Demon Anger! Now, get the hell out of my office.

Whistler vs. Brute Alexei (w. Tasha)

True to his (or should I say his manager’s) word, Brute Alexei came out to this match after Whistler did, and faced him fair and square. It was clear that both wrestlers were eager to put their hands on each other, and we were off to some explosive action.

Azaria: Now here’s a fact for you that you don’t know… Neither of these two wrestlers has ever competed in a Flag match.

Brute Alexei really looked like a monster; Whistler was really having trouble taking him down off his feet. After a lot of back and forth action, Whistler’s sheer determination wasn’t enough compared to Alexei’s strength and brutality. Whistler went for a Rebel Yell, but Alexei blocked it and connected with a Super Punch. He then hit Whistler with 3 consecutive Thunderous Power Bombs, followed by an Alexei Crush. It was clear that Whistler wasn’t able to get up anymore, and Brute Alexei climbed the pole, and retrieved the Russian flag for the win.

Result: Brute Alexei (w. Tasha) defeated Whistler in 13:38 by retrieving the Russian flag from the pole.

Rating: B-

Tasha enters the ring to celebrate with Alexei, who raises both hands up high, with a sadistic look on his face. There are boos everywhere from the crowd as a huge Russian flag drops behind Alexei and Tasha.

Gordon: What’s the matter, Dusty? Are you jealous? Why don’t you go and prepare for you match against Romeo. It’s not long anymore before it kicks off…

Dusty sarcastically exhales, as if indifferent and untouched by Gordon’s comment, turns around and leaves. Gordon turns back towards Cherry, and gives her a passionate kiss.

We go backstage where Emma Chase has an interview with Sam Strong. Strong is laughing at what he just saw out of womanizer Robbie Gordon and Cherry. He says Gordon is trying to show Cherry, and the other ladies, what a real man looks like, but later tonight, Sam Strong will show everyone, not just the ladies, what a real loser looks like, when he beats the hell out of Gordon.

Rhodes reminds us that both managers were banned from ringside earlier by Nero, and that should Liberty succeed to retain his title, he will next defend it against Spite’s partner, Anger. Liberty gets some offence going early on, but is later dominated by Spite, and takes one hell of a beating. Somehow, Liberty manages to kick out time after time, and keeps standing back up, eventually making a comeback until he hits Spite with a Liberation Slam for the win.

Result: Liberty defeated Demon Spite in 10:31 by pinfall with a Liberation Slam. Liberty makes his defence number 4 of the TCW Television Championship.

After the match, Liberty is celebrating in the ring, when Demon Anger runs down the ramp and attacks. The Demons of Rage destroy Liberty. The assault was so brutal that it left Liberty lying completely helpless on the mat.

After The Demons of Rage retreated to the locker room, Emma Chase ran down to check on her client. She had a frightened look on her face, and seemed terribly concerned about Liberty being unable to stand back up on his feet.

We go backstage where The Blazing Flames cut a promo, congratulating each other on winning the tag team titles earlier this week, and preparing to defend them for the first time, against those they won them from. Joey says he is on fire, and Teddy agrees that it can’t be otherwise, since they are The Blazing Flames, and they’re always on fire. Joey asks Teddy what they should do tonight after they retain their titles, and Teddy says they should probably go to a bar and have some flaming tequila shots to celebrate.

Romeo Heartthrob shows up wearing a black cape, and with a covered face, just he like he appeared when he attacked Dusty few weeks ago. Overall, this was a medium match, which lacked some psychology because neither of these two wrestlers is good enough to conduct a proper flow by himself, and lift the other with him in terms of performance. The storytelling, however, was good enough, with a lot of grueling and taunting involved, so the match served its purpose after all. The finish saw Dusty hit Romeo with a Dust-off for the win.

Result: Dusty Streets defeated Romeo Hearthrob in 11:02 by pinfall with a Dust-off.

This match goes down as an instant classic as far as tag team action is concerned, and definitely the best tag team title matches in TCW history so far. The Blazing Flames, arguably the best and most decorated tag team in professional wrestling in the United States, defending the tag teams titles against The Vessey Brothers, who had years of experience wrestling together, although they hadn’t won a title until their first TCW Tag Team title reign. This was an open match, fairly fought, full of action and incredible wrestling moments, until…

The Justice Mafia hits the ring and attacks the Vessey Brothers once again, causing the DQ.

Result: The Vessey Brothers (w. Coach Dick Pangrazzio) defeated The Blazing Flames © in 19:08 by DQ when The Justice Mafia interfered and attacked The Vessey Brothers. The Blazing Flames retain the TCW Tag Team Championships.

The Blazing Flames didn’t look impressed with The Justice Mafia’s actions, and they stayed away of this. The Vessey Brothers fought back the attack, and were able to come on top; and then The Justice Mafia retreated back to the locker room, as Coach Dick was shouting threats on Professor Nero.

We cut backstage where Stephanie Hazel is having an interview with Rip Chord. Hazel starts by mentioning that she’s filling in the interviewer slot for Emma Chase, because Emma has left with Liberty to the hospital after The Demons of Rage’s assault on her client earlier. Rip Chord says he has been looking forward to this for the past five years. This will be his chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans after he had let them down. This is the main reason why he joined TCW in the first place, and tonight he will make this come true, when he will stand tall at the end of the biggest wrestling show of the year, holding the TCW World Championship title. He says there’s nobody who can stand in his way right now, neither Richie Pangrazzio Jr. nor the arrogant overrated Sam Strong, because Rip Chord is simply the best at what he does.

We go to a room that is lit by dozens of candles. Gothic chanting echoes in the background and the candle flames are flicking back and forth, as if the entire room is breathing. Karen Killer is glancing around the room, and Tyson Baine is standing behind her, his head bowed in contemplation.

Killer: Fear… Fear is a very big sin if you are a professional wrestler, and for the last few months, I see nothing but fear in our opponents’ faces. In fact, there is so much fear that our opponents aren’t even willing to show their faces, but they prefer hiding them behind gimmicky masks. The real thing they are trying to hide though is their fear…

She pauses, drawing a breath, and Tyson Baine’s red gaze rises to meet the camera. His nostrils flare in anger, and it looks as if he really is the Demon Incarnate. Killer lays a restraining hand on his shoulder.

Killer: But fear has become our ultimate tool. Through it, we will eventually get where we want to be, where we deserve to be. And if the path to the top needs to be littered with broken bodies, then Tyson will break and break again, until he achieves his destiny. Go, sweet Tyson, earn yourself victory, and punish those who stand in your way.

Mr Lucha vs. Tyson Baine (w. Karen Killer)

Azaria comments on how creepy that Killer and Tyson promo was, while Rhodes says he extremely enjoyed it, and he’s expecting great things from Tyson. The match itself was brilliant; there was no better way to start the buildup for the two big matches of the evening that everybody was waiting for. Mr Lucha is clearly one of the most gifted technical wrestlers in the world. Put him in the ring with a broomstick and he might be able to pull out a decent match. Couple that with the way TCW has been building Baine as the Demon Incarnate monster over the last few months, and you’re in for a great one. Also, the style difference between these two wrestlers made it very entertaining. Mr Lucha was smart enough not to lock up close with Baine, but constantly tried to use his speed and agility to his advantage. Eventually though, Baine’s strength was too much for Lucha, and Tyson hit a Hades Bomb for the win.

Result: Tyson Baine (w. Karen Killer) defeated Mr Lucha in 12:04 by pinfall with a Hades Bomb.

We cut to Nero’s office where he and J.K. Stallings Jr. are watching the replays of Mr Lucha vs. Tyson Baine. Junior looks like the teenager he is, and is very excited about the potential that Tyson has, and he thanks Nero for convincing him to sign him. Nero smiles and says he was sure that things can’t go wrong with Tyson, and that what we’ve seen so far is only the beginning, because Tyson is destined to achieve great things.

Sam Strong vs. Womanizer Robbie Gordon (w. Cherry)

Overall, this was a good match, though signs of fatigue were clearly showing on Womanizer Robbie Gordon. He looked exhausted by the end, and it seems that his age is catching up with him, and he needs shorter matches. During the match, Azaria and Rhodes kept reminding us of the events that lead to this showdown, with both wrestlers costing each other the #1 contender status. These workers exchanging mind games and underhanded tactics in the last couple of months, and throughout the match, Cherry kept interfering on Gordon’s behalf, until the referee Sam Sparrow banned her from ringside, sending her back to the locker room. The end of this match was clean: Sam Strong delivered the Strong Arm Tactics for the clean win.

Result: Sam Strong defeated Womanizer Robbie Gordon (w. Cherry) in 17:24 by pinfall with a Strong Arm Tactics.

After the match, Womanizer Robbie Gordon stood on his feet, and Sam Strong put his hand up for a handshake. Gordon hesitated for a moment, before finally shaking Sam’s hand, to the cheers of the crowd. Sam Strong nodded as both wrestlers shook hands, but right when he turned away, Gordon planted him with a Womanization!

We’ve reached our Main Event of the evening, and Azaria reminds us of how these two superstars got to headline the first WrestlePocalypse ever, talking about the wins they earned at The War To Settle The Score.

Well, there’s not a lot to be said about this match other than how you’d expect it to go. Two fantastic superstars, both at the height of their popularity, just absolutely give it to each for the best part of the 28 minutes. Needless to say, there wasn’t high risk flashing moves, just these two brawlers going at it with everything and anything they have in their move arsenal.

As this match is reaching its climax, the referee Sam Sparrow is knocked out, and Coach Dick grabs a steel chair and slides to the ring. Coach Dick sizes up Chord, swings the steel chair, but Chord ducks and Coach Dick accidentally hits his son Richie with the steel chair. Rip Chord clotheslines Coach Dick out of the ring, and throws the steel chair away. He then helps Sparrow to his feet, grabs Richie up, and hits him with the Rip Chord DDT for the win.

Result: Rip Chord defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr. (w. Coach Dick) in 28:06 by pinfall with a Rip Chord DDT. Rip Chord makes his defence number 3 of the TCW World Championship.

As Coach Dick is helping Richie recover by ringside, and trying to explain to him the accidental chair shot, Rip Chord is handed the TCW World Championship by Sam Sparrow. Chord climbs the turnbuckle, and holds the title high for the fans. There are explosions on all four corners of the ring that send confetti flying in the air, as WrestlePocalypse goes off the air.

This very entertaining and I will be following along.

Don't stress over predictions or comments, most diaries, especially cornellverse ones, don't get a lot of either right now since RW diaries and readers are very predominant.

Generally views is a better indicator of if people are showing interest.

I know the first long term diary I wrote on the boards here topped out at less than 3000 views at the time and had maybe half a dozen comments total over a 4 month period. So sometimes it takes awhile to build the audience.

Quality will attract attention, it always has and always will here.

Four months have passed since HGC started operations in December 1996. Last night, the company has held what it has dubbed its flagship event of the year, WrestlePocalypse, at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. While so many people are still talking about the show throughout the country, HGC owner J.K. Stallings Jr. has called for a meeting to review the performance of the first quarter of 1997, and set the plan for the future of the promotion. He has asked the TCW Operating Director Professor Nero and the TCW Head Booker Sam Strong to meet him at the Kelsey & Kim’s Southern Café, just 2 miles away from the Boardwalk Hall where WrestlePocalypse was held last night…

Junior: So, tell me Nero, how are we doing so far?

Nero: Well, the first 3 months of shows have been pretty good. We have made 214,000$ of profit so far this year, so things are looking good for us so far.

Junior: And why on Earth would you think I care about how much money we made so far? I’m a freakin’ billionaire. If you think I’m into this for money, then I should think I hired the wrong guy. Eisen is the reason I got to invest in this. Now I’m not saying I want to take him down and buy out SWF, because I love professional wrestling, and competition is always good for the industry, but I want HGC to be the consensus #1 promotion in professional wrestling. So I hope, no I EXPECT, that you do have some bloody ideas to get us there.

Nero: Well, our popularity is steadily increasing month after month, so are our attendances. We have made a name for ourselves, and this was my target for the early period. And trust me, when it comes down to ideas in the business, I am the best you could ever have. But if you want us to go head-to-head with SWF this early, we need to be very aggressive and some of these ideas might not be to your likings, but I believe it’s our only chance.

Junior: Go on.

Nero: Competing with SWF while promoting a similar product is tough, and will take a lot of time. If we want to compete with them this early, we have to give the fans something else, something that puts us on a different, and hopefully better, level than SWF. I’ve been closely watching the East Coast Wars and they have been raging recently. RPW and DAVE are growing like crazy, and selling out arenas on each and every show. Each of them has taken a niche but the fans seem to like it. We have to partially adopt their product and integrate them into ours. This way, we will give these products some national exposure and see the fans’ reactions. It’s going to be a risk but the rewards will be worth it. If people start buying into this, it will be the biggest step on the road of knocking off SWF from the #1 spot.

Junior: So tell me about these products and how they will affect ours?

Nero: RPW runs a fast-paced performance-based product that basically relies on short matches full with wild action. I think we can integrate this pretty easy because we already have a somewhat established Cruiserweight division. Guys like Dark EAGLE, Golden Fox, Electrico and Mr Lucha will fit perfectly with this change. All we need to do is develop this division a little bit and give it some more importance, maybe a specific TCW Cruiserweight Championship sometime by the end of the year.

Junior: What about DAVE?

Nero: Integrating DAVE will be a little tougher, because they run a pure hardcore product, so we need to be careful here because there’s a big difference between promoting this in local arenas and promoting it on national TV. I suggest that we integrate it very slowly and very carefully. We can start by adding a little bit of hardcore to the matches, without having them to be pure hardcore. We can start taking the match out of the ring and using the surrounding area like the ring post, the barrier, the steel steps and some weapons like tables, ladders and chairs. We will build a medium cult program with some mild trash talk, sexual content and holy shit moments.

Junior: What do you think, Sam?

Strong: I think this will lift our product to a different level and will be a great weapon if we want to battle with SWF. People still talk about the Tommy Cornell vs. Nemesis match and how it has changed the wrestling scene. I believe they will like those changes if we bring them. I also believe that most of our superstars will be fine with the changes. And, off topic, I believe we should snatch Tommy Cornell as soon as possible.

Junior: Fine. I believe then that we have a plan. Start integrating those changes and let’s see where they will put us. Now, I also need you to start developing that diary writing. People are enjoying it so far, but I believe we can give them something better. I read the WP review and I believe we can talk in more details about the matches, so that people who didn’t see the event can picture some of the actions. You have 3 months to do that, so I expect to read a much better one by June.

Nero: Well noted, Sir.

Junior: Now Sam, tell me about our roster and how you see it going.

Strong: Well, we have a great roster overall I have to say. Rip and I have been doing what we’re supposed to do. The fans keep looking forward for a showdown although I wouldn’t like to book this in the near future, so we need to keep both of us busy and the creative team is doing a great job achieving that. Our 2 major stables are big successes. The fans seem to love The Justice Mafia and Coach Dick is doing a great job leading The All-Star Team, as he always does. Gordon was somewhat of a disappointment; it appears his age is catching up with him pretty quick. Brute Alexei, however, was a huge success; the fans seem to love the Alexei vs. USA storyline and I believe we shouldn’t end it yet but on the contrary, we should take it to the next level.

Junior: What about our workers and the development of our talent?

Strong: Well, our workers are doing quite the job. The Demons of Rage, The Blazing Flames, Mr Lucha, Robert Oxford, Jason Jackson, Jimmy Power and others like them are guys you need on every roster. As far as talent is concerned, it is clear that Liberty and Tyson Baine have shown they have the potential to become short-term stars, so I expect to be in the main event scene within this year. We also have a lot of other wrestlers that have the potential to become superstars in the longer-term future: Eric Tyler, Vengeance, Jack Bruce, RDJ, Rich Money, Joel Bryant and Paul Steadyfast to name a few.

Junior: So are we going to carry on with the same roster for a while or do you suggest some changes?

Strong: Well, as I said, Tommy Cornell should be our top priority. We should target him as soon as his SWF contract is due. On the other hand, I also believe we should strengthen the tag team division a bit. If we are going to move from a pure entertainment product to a sort of mix like the one we discussed, gimmicky characters like The Nation of Filth and Savage Fury will be liabilities, so we should maybe a couple of tag teams with better in-ring skills. The same goes for the Cruiserweight division, depending on how early we want to give it a higher focus.

Junior: Very well, put your hiring/firing suggestions on a sheet of paper and send it over to me by the end of this week. So let’s sum up then: we will make major changes to our product but integrate them slowly, we will improve the quality of our reviews and writings and add more descriptions to the scenery, we will take our successful storylines to the next level, and we will slowly adjust our roster to fit our product. Now, if you’d excuse me, I have some other business to attend to. Gentlemen…

Junior stormed out of the café with a smile on his face, leaving Nero and Sam Strong with a lot of work to do. He himself wasn’t expecting going head-to-head against SWF after only 3 months of operations, but somehow his “small council” seems to have found a way. It was going to be very risky, but Junior was ready to take that risk. What’s the worst that can happen?

Feature Storyline 1: The TCW World Championship Race (Started Jan 97)

At Malice In Wonderland, Rip Chord defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr. in an 8-man tournament final to become the inaugural TCW World Champion. Earlier that night, Dusty Streets scored the pinfall in a tag team match that saw him and Sam Strong defeat The Justice Mafia. Dusty Streets thus became #1 contender for the TCW World title.

At The War To Settle The Score, Richie Pangrazzio Jr. defeated Womanizer Robbie Gordon to become the first superstar in TCW’s history to guarantee a spot to headline Wrestlepocalypse. Later that night, Rip Chord defeated Dusty Streets to retain his TCW World Championship.

At Wrestlepocalypse, Rip Chord defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr. to make his third TCW World Championship title defence.

It is April 1, 1997, and we are live from the Pittsburgh Arena in Pittsburgh, PA for the first post-Wrestlepocalypse episode of TCW Total Wrestling.

Sam Strong’s music hits and out he comes striding towards the ring, with a mic in his hand.

Strong: Finally, Sam Strong has come back to… PITSSSSSSSSBUUUUUUURGH!

Strong takes a short pause as the fans in the arena are going nuts. On commentary, Jason Azaria gives us his first catchphrase of the evening.

Azaria: Now here’s a fact for you that you don’t know… It was right here, in Pittsburgh, PA where the iconic wrestler Sam Strong made his in-ring debut, and wrestled the first match of his illustrious career, under his real name Sam Stragavelli.

Strong: People of Pittsburgh… Twenty years ago, some of you might have seen me compete in my first wrestling match right here, in this very city, brother. Others of course were too young or not even born yet to see that; or they had more important things to do than watch some guy with a seemingly Italian name wrestle… Twenty years later, I stand before you, my eyes pinned and my head focused on one guy, and one thing, brother: Rip Chord and the TCW World Championship.

Strong: For three months now, I’ve been robbed of opportunities to get my hands on the TCW World Championship, and now that I’ve dealt with Womanizer Robbie Gordon last Sunday at Wrestlepocalypse, I am asking for what is rightfully mine, brother: I want a TCW World Championship title shot, and I want one now. Now, every one of you who wants to see Rip Chord vs. Sam Strong for the TCW World Championship, speak out loud!!!

Just as the crowd goes completely crazy, and “Hell yeah” shouts fill the arena, what has now become a routine eventually happens once again. Nero’s music hits, and out comes the TCW Operating Director, with a mic in his hand. He makes his way to the ring and stands next to Sam Strong.

Nero: Sam, with all due respect, brother (sarcastically), I don’t think that winning a match against Womanizer Robbie Gordon, even if it was at Wrestlepocalypse, gives you enough credit to become the #1 contender for the TCW World Championship. In fact, I looked at my roster earlier, and I don’t think I have anyone who rightfully, irrevocably, deserves to be named the undisputed #1 contender for the TCW World Championship.

Strong: I can see where this is going, brother, so why don’t you get straight to the point and tell me what the hell is going on?

Nero: Well, since you asked, I am going to explain this to you, as well as everyone else right here in this arena, and on TV… Our next PPV will take place on April 27 live from the Verizon Center in Washington, DC and it will be called Total Mayhem. The main event of this PPV will be a “Shot or Suspension” match in which Rip Chord will defend his TCW World Championship.

Nero: Now I am first going to explain the match rules. The “Shot or Suspension” match will be a Fatal 4-Way match, in which the winner will of course walk out with the TCW World Championship, while the loser will serve a 3-month suspension! In addition to that, there will be two numbered briefcases, which the winner of the match gets to assign to each of the other two competitors that didn’t lose. One of the briefcases will contain a contract for the TCW World Championship, and the other will contain a contract for the TCW Television Championship. The contracts have a validity of 6 months, and have to be revoked with a minimum notice of 2 weeks prior to the match.

Nero: Now, as far as the three competitors who will challenge Rip Chord are concerned, you will get your chance Strong, and you will have an opportunity at earning your title shot. Tonight, and the next 2 weeks on Total Wrestling, we will have a 10-man battle royal, with over-the-top-rope eliminations, both feet touching the floor, and timed entrances of 60 seconds. The winners of the battle royals will compete alongside Rip Chord in the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem, and Rip Chord will be joining as guest color commentary for each of the battle royals.

Nero: This way, brother (sarcastically), you have a chance to prove to all of us that you really deserve the TCW World Championship. All you have to do is win your battle royal, and then win the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem, and the TCW World Championship will be yours.

Strong: Nine men to eliminate over the top rope, and a Fatal 4-Way match… What are we waiting for?

Nero: Oh and there’s one more thing: just to make sure that the battle royals are conducted in the fairest way possible, I have limited the number of wrestlers from each tag team and/or stable to one per battle royal!!!

Nero and Strong exchange glances and smiles, and the fans seem to be overjoyed with Nero’s idea for Total Mayhem, and they can’t wait for the first battle royal, which is scheduled later tonight.

Later that night, Whistler is in the ring cutting a promo about his heroic performance in his loss against Brute Alexei at Wrestlepocalypse.

Whistler has a cast on his leg from an injury he sustained two nights ago. He says he won’t be able to compete for some time now, but he is proud of the effort he has displayed at Wrestlepocalypse.

Brute Alexei and Tasha hit the ring, and eventually Tasha and Whistler get into a heated argument that provokes Alexei. Alexei completely loses it, and he assaults Whistler, focusing on his injured leg. Tasha is trying to calm him down and bring him back to his senses, but Alexei has completely lost control. He gets out of the ring, and grabs a steel chair, repeatedly assaulting Whistler’s leg, and finally squeezes the injured leg within the steel chair and steps on it with a vicious stomp. Tasha kept screaming at Alexei while he was assaulting Whistler, and you can see from the look on her face that she wasn’t happy.

Alexei and Tasha leave the ring, much to the crowd boos, while we see an ambulance approaching the ring to carry Whistler away to a nearby hospital.

Later that night, it’s time for the first of three 10-man battle royal, where the winner will earn a spot at the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem. Rip Chord joins as guest color commentary.

10 Men Over The Top Battle Royal – “Shot or Suspension” Qualification

The first entry of the battle royal is Vengeance, wearing his mask, and looking as terrifying as usual. Chord says that although Vengeance is the first entrant, he might actually have a chance in this one, since he has looked a monster as of late.

RDJ is the next entrant and the match is under way. Vengeance and RDJ exchange trade blows and punches, and Vengeance is looking to take control by the end of the 1-minute mark when the next entrant appears.

Golden Fox hits the ring, and Azaria reminds us of the ongoing rivalry between the Justice Mafia and Spirit Warriors. Vengeance shifts his focus from RDJ to Golden Fox, and the two go at it with everything they have. One minute goes by and the bell rings for the fourth entrant.

Java, one half of Savage Fury, hits the ring, and Kyle Rhodes mentions the opportunity that Java has to make his PPV debut in the best possible way. It looks as if Rhodes has jinxed Java though, because his run in the battle royal was short lived. As Java tries to go after Golden Fox, he gets blindsided by Ricky Dale Johnson and eliminated.

Entry number 5 is Richie Pangrazzio Jr. and Chord mocks him saying he wishes Richie will win tonight, because he’s already beaten him twice so he poses no threat to his World title. Richie strides out to the ring looking as focused as ever and he starts trying to get his hands on anybody out there. Vengeance seemed to be in control and about to eliminate Golden Fox, but Richie immediately went after Vengeance and the brawl went on.

Bryant runs in and he and Vengeance double team Richie as Golden Fox and RDJ are recovering. The numbers get the best out of Richie but he holds on and is able to stay in the ring. Vengeance however turns his attention towards RDJ and eliminates him.

Cal Gary makes his way to the ring and Azaria reminds us of the impressive debut this wrestler has made alongside his tag team partner Ed Monton, in the team called Team Alberta. Just as Gary is entering the ring, Richie had recovered and eliminated Joel Bryant.

Elimination Number 3: Joel Bryant is eliminated by Richie Pangrazzio Jr.

With Bryant eliminated, Vengeance once again finds himself facing 3 babyfaces, and he tries to avoid locking up with them at all costs. Golden Fox goes after him but accidentally hits Richie. Fox is distracted and Vengeance blindsides him, then ducks Gary’s attack and reverses it to eliminate him.

In the ring: Vengeance, Golden Fox, Richie Pangrazzio Jr.

Demon Spite runs in to even the odds, although Richie is still recovering so it basically starts as a 2-on-1 assault, with Vengeance and Spite double teaming Golden Fox until he is eliminated by a combined effort.

Elimination Number 5: Golden Fox is eliminated by Vengeance and Demon Spite

Vengeance and Spite then turn their attention on Richie, wanting to double team him in the same way they did Golden Fox, but the bell rings and out comes the ninth entrant to the rescue.

In the ring: Vengeance, Richie Pangrazzio Jr., Demon Spite

Liberty looks furious and fired up, and Azaria reminds us of what the Demons of Rage did to him at Wrestlepocalypse. He takes it out on Spite and takes him out, but gets eventually blindsided by Vengeance. Richie has recovered by now and takes Vengeance out. Demon Spite gets back on his feet and Richie sends him over the top rope.

Elimination Number 6: Demon Spite is eliminated by Richie Pangrazzio Jr.

Richie and Liberty then wait for Vengeance to stand up, and they eliminate him in a combined effort just as the bell rings for the last entrant.

Elimination Number 7: Vengeance is eliminated by Richie Pangrazzio Jr. and Liberty

In the ring: Richie Pangrazzio Jr., Liberty

Gordon is the last entrant, as Chord is mocking Richie on commentary, saying he can’t get things done by himself. Gordon hits the ring as Richie and Liberty are waiting for him, clearly not fighting each other, and Gordon doesn’t look impressed. Eventually, it’s a pure double team until Gordon is eliminated by Liberty a couple of minutes later.

Elimination Number 8: Golden Fox is eliminated by Liberty

With Gordon eliminated, Richie and Liberty shake hands, and then they go at it. After nearly six minutes of action, Richie gets the best of the Television Champion and sends him over the top rope to win the first battle royal, and earn a spot at the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem.

Elimination Number 9: Liberty is eliminated by Richie Pangrazzio Jr.

Azaria seems excited about Richie getting a third chance at the TCW World title, while Chord says he has this one in the bag so far…

Result: Richie Pangrazzio Jr. won a 10-men battle royal in 18:22, last eliminating Liberty. Richie Pangrazzio Jr. qualifies to the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem.

On the April 8 episode of Total Wrestling, Professor Nero calls out Brute Alexei, and informs him that he has been disqualified from the third battle royal that will take place next week, because he assaulted an injured wrestler. Nero also mentions that Brute Alexei’s spot in next week’s battle royal will be filled by Romeo Heartthrob.

Later that night, it’s time for the second of the battle royal, with a qualification to the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem on the line. Once again, Rip Chord joins the commentary table.

Azaria: What on Earth is Brute Alexei doing? He’s not even in the battle royal. He has even been banned from his battle royal next week… Sam Strong got screwed once again…

Elimination Number 8: Sam Strong is eliminated by Brute Alexei

It goes down to Tyson Baine and Bryan Vessey, who has recovered by now, as Rip Chord is sarcastically laughing on commentary. Bryan is no match to Baine’s strength and brutality and eventually goes flying over the top rope, giving Tyson Baine the win and a spot at the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem.

Result: Tyson Baine won a 10-men battle royal in 15:38, last eliminating Bryan Vessey. Tyson Baine qualifies to the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem.

Eric Tyler is the first entrant, and Professor Nero mentions that he has purposefully scheduled 2 members of The Justice Mafia to enter the battle royals first because he has so much confidence in their abilities. While Vengeance came close in the first one, Tyson Baine won last week, and he’s confident Eric Tyler can win this one tonight.

Larry Vessey is in and he evens the odds. He also wants some payback on Eric Tyler after the Justice Mafia costed the Vessey Brothers the tag team titles twice. There’s a lot of brawling over the next minute but no eliminations yet.

Paul Steadyfast is next and the brawling continues among all five wrestlers. By the end of that fourth minute, Larry Vessey and Eric Tyler are standing tall, while others are recovering, although nobody has been eliminated yet.

Monty Walker is next, and so far this is the highest number of wrestlers we’ve had in the ring at the same time in all three battle royals, with six of them. As Walker gets in, Larry and Tyler are brawling, while Romeo is recovering but Walker sends him back down to the mat. Walker turns around and Steadyfast is running towards him with all speed and sends him over the top rope, but Walker is able to drag Steadyfast with him and we have the first double elimination.

By this time, Eric Tyler has got the best out of Larry Vessey and sent him down to the mat. Dark EAGLE is recovering and standing up behind Tyler, when Dusty runs towards Tyler to eliminate him. Tyler ducks and Dusty hits the unaware Dark EAGLE by mistake and sends him over the top rope.

After eliminating Teddy, Larry wastes no time, blindsides Ed Monton and sends him flying over the top rope. Rip Chord comments that Ed Monton should have been more careful, you never turn your back to anyone in matches like these, because it’s every man for himself.

Right after Anger’s elimination, Tyler had recovered and hits Dusty from the back, then locks up with Larry. Larry wants payback and gets fired up, and controls the one-on-one until…

Womanizer Robbie Gordon hits the ring and blindsides Larry, then hits him with a Womanization. He then runs towards Dusty and hits him with a Womanization as well, before heading back to the locker room. Eric Tyler seizes the opportunity and sends Larry flying over the top rope.

Elimination Number 8: Larry Vessey is eliminated by Eric Tyler

Nero is so excited on commentary. Dusty is knocked out cold after the Womanization, and Nero is contemplating the prospect of Tyler stealing this win, and the potential of having 2 members of the Justice Mafia in the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem. Tyler grabs Dusty and sends him flying over the top rope, then starts celebrating his victory in the ring… Unknown to him however, only one of Dusty’s feet has touched the floor, as Dusty managed to hang on to the ropes while going down. Dusty slides back to the ring and surprises Tyler with a Dust-off then sends him flying over the top rope!

Elimination Number 9: Eric Tyler is eliminated by Dusty Streets

Nero is furious at ringside, but the referee explains that only one of Dusty’s feet touched the floor, and thus he wasn’t eliminated. We go to replays and clearly see that this was the case, and Sam Sparrow made the right call. Nero, completely furious, slides to the ring while Dusty is celebrating and hits him with a Nerolizer.

Result: Dusty Streets won a 10-men battle royal in 13:07, last eliminating Eric Tyler. Dusty Streets qualifies to the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem.

It is April 22, 1997 and we are live from the Greenville Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, SC for the last episode of TCW Total Wrestling before Total Mayhem. Earlier tonight, Professor Nero has announced that the Main Event will be a tag team match between the 4 superstars who will compete in the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem.

It immediately looked like Nero did a great job booking this match, where each two of these superstars have to team up together tonight, and then it will be every man for himself on Sunday at Total Mayhem. Nero also joins the commentary team for this one.

Baine and Dusty start this one off, and the first part of the match is a showcase of Baine’s strength, as he continues to look dominant against everyone else. The match eventually becomes more balanced when Dusty is able to tag Richie in, and from there on we have a great and solid match, with multiple tags, momentum shifts and power moves.

The finish comes when Richie reverses a Hades Bomb, and hits a Grand Slam on Tyson Baine. Karen Killer distracts the referee, and Coach Dick runs towards her to stop the distraction, and they get in a heated argument, resulting in Coach Dick eventually shoving Killer and pushing her to the floor. Nero isn’t happy with that, and he leaves the commentary table and hits Coach Dick with a Nerolizer. Richie has noticed this by now and he runs after Nero. Chord tries to meet Richie but he walks into Dusty first, but still manages to hit him with a Rip Chord DDT. At the same time, Richie has taken out Nero at ringside, and as he turns around he sees Rip Chord sprinting towards him. Richie manages to duck the attack, sending Rip Chord over the announce table. As Richie turns around, he walks straight into a Hades Bomb from Tyson Baine, who had recovered and left the ring by now. Baine slides back to the ring and Richie is eventually counted out.

Result: Rip Chord & Tyson Baine (w. Karen Killer) defeated Dusty Streets & Richie Pangrazzio Jr. (w. Coach Dick) in 14:21 when Tyson Baine defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr. by count out.

Feature Storyline 2: Brute Alexei vs. USA (Started Jan 97)

After a series of brutal assaults from Brute Alexei on multiple superstars, Whistler stood up and rose to the occasion of being the one who will defend American honor against the Russian Demolition Machine. At The War To Settle The Score, however, Alexei ambushed Whistler and dominated the match, humiliating Whistler.

At Wrestlepocalypse, Brute Alexei defeated Whistler, fair and square, in a Flag match. Then, on the April 1 episode of TCW Total Wrestling, Brute Alexei viciously assaulted an injured Whistler, resulting in Alexei’s ban from the battle royal he was supposed to be part of.

The show opens with Sam Strong’s music, as the legend shows up and walks down the ramp looking absolutely furious. Azaria reminds of how Strong got screwed last week in the battle royal, when he was eliminated by Brute Alexei, who wasn’t even competing in it!

Strong: You guys are gonna have to forgive me because I’m not in the mood for talking tonight. So there will be no catchphrases, no famous lines, and no promos. So let’s just get to the bottom of this. Brute Alexei, if you’re half the man you pretend to be, get out here and show me that ugly bald head of yours!

Alexei’s music hits and out he comes alongside Tasha. Rhodes says that Brute Alexei needs to do nothing more than look at you to get you frightened… Alexei and Tasha get to the ring and stand face-to-face with Strong, Tasha maniacally smiling, and Alexei with a grin on his face.

Strong: Alright, so I get it, Alexei! You’re not even man enough to face me on your own, so you brought your sexy darling girl to do the talking… Whistler was so damn right, you’re nothing but a bully and a coward. You better watch yourself Alexei, because last night, you messed with the best, and for no reason…

Sam Strong didn’t even finish his sentence when Tasha interrupted him…

Tasha: Wo, wo, wo… For no reason? What do you mean “For no reason”? I thought you were much smarter than that, brother…

The crowd boos when Tasha steals Strong’s catchphrase on this night where he himself is not in the mood for using it. Kyle Rhodes says that Tasha’s Russian accent is incredibly sexy…

Tasha: We do not do things for no reason… It is very clear why we do whatever we do… Alexei has been here for one reason, and one only: destroy and humiliate you American nobodies, and show you what a real “Strong” man looks like. And ever since Alexei came here, Strong, he only had one target on his mind: You!

There are more boos from the crowd and Sam Strong is sarcastically smiling, but then Tasha’s promo starts to get much more interesting.

Tasha: But you don’t take the elevator to success, you climb the stairs. All those assaults, all this destruction, all this pain, it was meant for one reason. It was Alexei destroying everything on his path while climbing the stairs to the top, where Sam Strong sits. Now he finally feels ready to take you down, and he has provoked you last night, so why don’t you tell us what are you going to do about it?!

There are “Kick His Ass” chants all over the arena right now, as Sam Strong welcomes the challenge.

Strong: Well let me tell you something, SISTER! I am Sam Strong, and I never back down from any challenge. You say he provoked me? You mean he’s challenging me? Well let’s make it Brute Alexei vs. Sam Strong at Total Mayhem! And I want you to be on ringside, because I want you to see him suffer!

This irritated Alexei and he shoved Sam Strong. Tasha quickly grabbed him and whispered some words in Russian to him. Strong got back up and gestured for Brute Alexei to bring it on, but Alexei and Tasha slowly retreated back to the locker room, as Azaria and Rhodes confirmed that the match is now official for Total Mayhem.

On a segment during the April 22 episode of Total Wrestling, we see Brute Alexei roaming backstage, looking for Tasha, but he eventually can’t find her. Later that night, we go to the hospital where Whistler is still lying, recovering from Alexei’s assault a couple of weeks ago. The door of the room opens, and Tasha comes in to check on Whistler, much to everyone’s surprise.

Azaria says he was sure that Tasha had some affection to Whistler, and he could see that on her face when Alexei was assaulting Whistler. He wonders however about what she did last week, but Rhodes says that she’s Alexei’s manager, and last week, she was only doing her job!

Later that night, Alexei had to wrestle his match without Tasha on his side...

Sam Strong shows up to ringside, with a mic in his hand, and this distracts Alexei. Liberty gets back on the offensive, but Alexei’s strength is able to give him back control a few minutes later. Strong is now taunting Alexei, and speaking on the mic about how Tasha tonight preferred to be alongside a real hero like Whistler, rather than a bully like Alexei. Alexei has had enough and he leaves the ring and starts chasing Strong up the ramp. Alexei is on the pursuit so Strong has the advantage, and he connects with a Strong Arm Tactics. Eventually, the referee counts Alexei out…

Result: Liberty (w. Emma Chase) defeated Brute Alexei in 11:04 by count-out, when Brute Alexei went after Sam Strong and was counted out.

Other Minor Storylines

On the April 15 episode of TCW Total Wrestling, Womanizer Robbie Gordon, who wasn’t even a competitor, interfered and attacked Larry Vessey, causing his elimination from the third battle royal, and costing him a spot at the “Shot or Suspension” match at Total Mayhem. A week later, Larry confronted Gordon and challenged him to a match at Total Mayhem, and Gordon agreed.

The Justice Mafia and Spirit Warriors have been feuding for a couple of months. At The War To Settle The Score, The Justice Mafia defeated Mr Lucha & Spirit Warriors in a 6-man tag team match. At Wrestlepocalypse, Tyson Baine defeated Mr Lucha, and The Justice Mafia defeated Spirit Warriors. Now both teams get a chance to challenge The Blazing Flames for the TCW Tag Team Championships in a Triple Threat match.

At Wrestlepocalypse, Liberty defeated Demon Spite to retain the TCW Television Championship, and was immediately booked to defend it against Spite’s partner, Demon Anger, at Total Mayhem. Liberty and Demon Spite were in the same battle royal and got another chance to get their hands on each other. Demon Anger looks determined to avenge his partner.

At Wrestlepocalypse, Dixie Diamond defended her TCW Women’s Championship against Catherine Quine. On the April 8 episode of TCW Total Wrestling, Dixie Diamond defeated Ashley Amazon and Catherine Quine in a Triple Threat match, to make her defence number 5. A week later, Quine petitioned for a title shot, because Ashley Amazon was the one who lost the Triple Threat, and Dixie vs. Quine for the TCW Women’s Championship was booked for Total Mayhem.

I am about to finish writing Summer Showdown (July PPV), which means I will finally start playing and writing in parallel. Therefore, I would appreciate some feedback from those who are following:

1. Do you like the storyline focus concept, or would you prefer to see the results of every single TV show in quick format?

2. As of Total Mayhem, which I will post Sunday, the matches will become more detailed (as mentioned in the short story). Do you think this will make the posts long and tiring or more interesting to read? I know it's hard to answer this question because I haven't posted a detailed match yet, but in general do you like to read match details or you only care about the result?

3. Any other feedback on the diary in general and what you think can be improved

1 - I'm really enjoying the storylines concept, it's different from what we see here at the forum. It allows you to focus on one rivalry and it's specially useful if you like a particular one. (My favourite so far is Sam Strong constantly getting screwed, BROTHER!!)

2 - About the longer posts, I will only know when I truly see it. But, judging by the quality of the write-ups so far, it should be alright.

It's all about good writing. Eisen-verse writes long, detailed descriptions of his matches (he even separates them at beginning, middle and end). Voeltzwagon is more direct, writes just how was the match overall and he result. Both of them are good writers so, even with different ways of showing the matches, they can make the viewer have some idea of what's going on.

3 - My only suggestion is, if possible, we could have along with the PPV resume, a small resume of the TV tapings, so we could see the undercard matches. For me, it would give a clearer ideaof who is getting pushed or not on the undercard.

On 3, you have a very good point there. Quick result format is usually easy to draft and doesn't take much time. From May onwards, I will post quick results for the TV tapings, in between the monthly preview and the PPV post. This will also allow me to keep the storyline concept, while posting out all cards in short version.

Jason Azaria and Kyle Rhodes welcome us to TCW Total Mayhem, and promise us a great night, on which the first ever “Shot or Suspension” match will take place. They start by talking about this special match, and remind us of the three qualifying battle royals, which saw Richie Pangrazzio Jr., Tyson Baine and Dusty Streets earn their spots to challenge Rip Chord for the title. They then discuss the events that resulted in the awaited Sam Strong vs. Brute Alexei match, and wonder what will Alexei’s reaction be, after knowing that Tasha wasn’t at Total Wrestling last Monday because she was at the hospital checking on Whistler. Finally, they briefly discuss the Larry Vessey vs. Womanizer Robbie Gordon match, and inform us that Jason Jackson defeated Romeo Hearthrob in a dark match earlier tonight, and that Total Mayhem will kick off right away with the first match, and it is for the TCW Television Championship!

This was a decent match, although it didn’t reach the height and intensity of the Liberty vs. Demon Spite match from Wrestlepocalypse. For an opener though, it was everything you could ask for. Liberty used his arsenal of skills and tactics to avoid Demon Anger’s strength, and he eventually took control, and seemed to be retaining his title when…

Demon Spite ran in to interfere. He sprinted towards the ring and the double team was too much for Liberty to withstand. However, Liberty was able to hold on until backup arrived…

Archangel runs in to even the odds, and he is able to handle Demon Spite and sends him flying out of the ring, but is then attacked by Demon Anger. With Anger getting busy retaliating on Archangel, Liberty covers him with a quick rollup for the win.

Result: Liberty defeated Demon Anger in 11:48 by pinfall with a Small Package. Liberty makes his defence number 5 of the TCW Television Championship.

After the match, the Demons of Rage regroup and launch a vicious assault on Liberty and Archangel. They hit a couple of Demon Slams, Anger on Liberty and Spite on Archangel, before they leave. After the Demons of Rage get backstage, Emma Chase runs down the ramp to check on Liberty…

We cut backstage where Belle Bryden is having an interview with Brute Alexei’s manager, Tasha.

Belle: Tasha, I have just been informed that Brute Alexei earlier declared that he doesn’t want you, neither does he need you, at ringside for his match against Sam Strong tonight. What are your comments on that?

Tasha: Well, it is clear that Alexei has gone out of his mind… I don’t see why he said something like that. Ever since he appointed me as his manager, I have done my job in the most dedicated way possible… Alexei is a brute and nobody can handle him better than I do…

Belle: But last week you were in the hospital checking on Whistler, and this has raised rumors all over the locker room about some affection that you might have for Whistler.

Tasha: And what does this have to do with my job as Brute Alexei’s manager?

Belle: Well, maybe he’s jealous. I mean, I thought that you and Alexei were… you know… dating.

Tasha: What? Alexei and me? Are you crazy? Alexei would rather hurt a man than love a woman…

Tasha storms out as Belle looks stunned. Azaria sympathizes with Tasha and says Alexei has been too harsh.

We go to the Justice Mafia locker room, where Professor Nero is discussing the strategy that Eric Tyler and Vengeance have to employ during their Triple Threat Tag Team title match tonight. Nero says they have been getting the best of Spirit Warriors for months now, thus they should find a way to keep The Blazing Flames out of the match. Eric Tyler is confident and says him and Vengeance will do whatever it takes to walk out as tag team champions tonight, while Vengeance himself remains silent, looking as intimidating as ever.

The Blazing Flames barge in and they’re not looking happy. Teddy says that the Justice Mafia have their differences with the Vessey Brothers, so he wonders what was Nero thinking when he included them in this match and made it a triple threat. Nero reminds Teddy that he should remember his place and whom he is speaking to, and tells him he would rather be preparing for the match than coming here to complain about it.

We cut backstage where Emma Chase is having an interview with Sam Strong.

Chase: Sam, tonight you face yet another man who stood between you and the TCW World title, and cost you a chance to fight Rip Chord for it. It so happens that he is also the same man who has declared he is here to destroy American superstars, and proclaimed that he’s at the top of his path now, and destroying you will achieve his legacy.

Strong: Yeah. Brute Alexei... The Russian Demolition Machine… Well let me tell you something, brother. Earlier tonight, you have done the biggest mistake of your life, by letting someone like Tasha slip away from you. You needed a miracle to defeat me with Tasha at your side, and now without her, you’re dead… It turns out you’re not just a bully, and a coward, but you’re also an idiot! Tasha was a keeper, brother, and you had her, but you screwed up and let her go… I would have done anything to keep her if I were you. In fact, now that she’s free, I would do anything to have her, brother!

Sam Strong storms out as Emma’s eyes widen at his last statement. Azaria and Rhodes also look to be very surprised on commentary, and wonder what Sam Strong has in mind. Azaria is excited about seeing Tasha alongside Strong, while Rhodes says Sam is only messing with Alexei’s mind…

6-Man Tag Team

Mr Lucha & Team Alberta vs. The Untouchables

It’s time for our next match, and it’s a 6-man tag team match, featuring a team of Canadian superstars that made its TCW debut less than two months ago, and has been solid on TV in March and April. The team is called Team Alberta, and the two wrestlers have picked up the names of two cities in Alberta to an extent: Ed Monton and Cal Gary (aka Bryan Holmes).

For the time it was given, this was a very good match, featuring two of the best TCW technical wrestlers in Mr Lucha and Robert Oxford. Ed Monton also had a chance to show us his in-ring abilities, while Bryan Holmes, Joel Bryant and Paul Steadyfast all look like promising future stars. After some decent action, the finish saw Mr Lucha hit Joel Bryant with a Master Drop for the win.

Result: Mr Lucha & Team Alberta defeated The Untouchables in 10:03 by pinfall when Mr Lucha defeated Joel Bryant with a Master Drop.

We go to a very dark room where we see nothing, until we hear the sound of a match getting lit, and see Karen Killer lighting a candle. Tyson Baine is standing behind her, his eyes lit red in the darkness of the room. He has a demonic smile on his face, and looks calm and intimidating at the same time…

Killer: Our ultimate tool, fear, will not help us tonight… Rip Chord knows no fear… But this is not going to stop us. We have other tools, and Rip Chord has other weaknesses. Arrogance… Arrogance is a sin too, and Rip Chord is full of it. He thinks he is the best at what he does; he even has the guts to publicly claim it. He has made himself an idol.

She pauses, drawing a breath, as Tyson Baine’s breath gets louder, his nostrils flaring in anger…

Killer: There are simple rules we live by, Chord, and this is but one of them: Thou shalt worship no other god before me. You have made yourself an idol, but like all false idols, you must be taken down. You must be taken down, so that others avoid repeating your mistake and walking down your dark path. Go, Tyson, tear down that false idol, and bring justice!

Tyson Baine looks fired up, exhaling heavier from his nostrils. Killer blows the candle flame and darkness reigns again…

TCW Tag Team Championship

During the match, we kept going back and forth between the action in the ring, and the All-Star Team locker room, where Coach Dick and other members of the stable were watching the match on a screen. The match itself was a good one, showing the contrast of style among these three tag teams: the flashy high flyers Spirit Warriors, the cocky entertainers Blazing Flames, and the strong and brutal Justice Mafia.

At some point, The Justice Mafia kept sticking to Nero’s game plan, isolating Dark EAGLE in their corner, and assaulting him while exchanging tags. Vengeance hit a Vengeance Drop and went for the pin, but Joey Flame ran in and broke it, allowing Dark EAGLE time to recover and tag Golden Fox in, while Joey and Eric Tyler were fighting in the Justice Mafia’s corner, a fight that eventually went down to ringside. Golden Fox took control over Vengeance, threw him with an Irish whip and connected with a crossover. Unknown to him, Teddy Flame had made a blind tag on Vengeance, and Golden Fox was blindsided by Teddy, who hit him with a Feel The Burn for the win.

Result: The Blazing Flames defeated Spirit Warriors and The Justice Mafia (w. Professor Nero) in 14:21 by pinfall when Teddy Flame defeated Golden Fox with a Feel The Burn. The Blazing Flames make their defence number 1 of the TCW Tag Team Championships.

After the match is over, we go back to the All-Star Team locker room, where they are still watching. Coach Dick says he would have preferred The Justice Mafia had won this one, because it would have made it easier for the All-Star Team. Now, they have the tag team titles to win back, AND their differences to settle with the Justice Mafia. Coach Dick says that nobody needs to worry however, because he’s got a plan.

Just as Coach Dick finished talking, Dusty Streets barges in. Coach Dick asks him where his manners are, and whether somebody taught him to knock on the door before he enters. Dusty says he has little time, and he’s here to tell Richie that he has his back in the “Shot or Suspension” match tonight. Richie thanks Dusty, and tells him that he has his back too, but reminds him that it might eventually come down to “every man for himself”. Dusty says he understands and he will face Richie fair and square if it comes down to this.

Sam Strong vs. Brute Alexei

Brute Alexei makes his way to the ring without his manager Tasha by his side. Azaria says that he agrees with Strong, Alexei is really an idiot, and Tasha is the only one who could keep him under control. Rhodes says on the contrary, Alexei is very smart, because he’s probably ten times more brutal when he’s NOT under control, and that’s exactly what he needs right here. Right before the match starts, Sam Strong grabs a mic, and says that he will be doing this for Whistler, for Tasha, and for USA! And we’re on…

The match starts slowly, Brute Alexei trying to get his hands on Strong, while the latter is avoiding him, taunting him, and continuing his mind games that seem to be driving Alexei crazy. Eventually, the two of them lock in, and we have some great action from there onwards. Both wrestlers get a lot of offence, and they throw everything at each other, as if these two had their differences in real life, and were settling them in this one. There was also another showcase of Alexei’s strength and monstrosity, as even the iconic Sam Strong himself had trouble taking down the Russian Demolition Machine.

After some great action, Brute Alexei takes control and seems to be finishing off Sam Strong. He hits a German Suplex, followed by a Thunderous Power Bomb, and starts taunting Strong to get up, readying to hit him with an Alexei Crush, when…

Tasha comes running down to the ring, much to the fans’ and Jason Azaria’s excitement. Brute Alexei completely loses it here, and starts yelling at Tasha “Go Away! I Don’t Need You!”. Tasha grabs a mic from the commentary table and tells Alexei she’s here for Sam Strong, not him! Everyone is stunned at this announcement, including Sam Strong himself. However, this was enough of a distraction for Brute Alexei, and enough for Sam Strong to recover, and it looked like we had a whole new match.

Strong then seemed to be fired up with Tasha in his corner, and he took control of the match, until…

Strong hears screams by ringside, and he turns around and sees two unknown persons, dressed all in black and with their faces covered, kidnapping Tasha. This was enough of a distraction for Brute Alexei to hit Strong with a vicious punch right through the face. Strong fought back though and was able to take down Alexei, then looked at the top of the ramp where the two men were carrying Tasha towards the locker room. Strong left the ring to go after Tasha and try to rescue her, getting eventually counted out…

Result: Brute Alexei defeated Sam Strong in 19:58 by count out when Tasha was kidnapped from ringside and Strong left the ring to rescue her.

Rating: B

Sam Sparrow finishes the 10 count, announces Brute Alexei as the winner and raises his hand. We cut backstage where we see Sam Strong running in the hallways, and busting into locker rooms, but Tasha and the kidnappers are nowhere to be found…

Gordon: What I would like now is for all of you ugly, fat, pathetic Washington boys to keep the noise down while I take off my robe and show the ladies what a real man looks like.

Womanizer Robbie Gordon takes off his robe and you can see lust in Cherry’s eyes at the sight of Gordon’s body.

Gordon: Now I know that it isn’t time for my match just yet, but I’ll be around until it starts, so I’m just getting ready. You know that we have a match for the TCW Women’s Championship next, so I thought I’d just sit around at the commentary table for this one, simply because the ladies like to have me around, so I’m not going to strip them from that privilege tonight…

Womanizer Robbie Gordon and Cherry join the commentary table, to the sound of boos from the fans, and a frustrated Azaria who says having Womanizer Robbie Gordon besides him on commentary wasn’t part of the plan…

TCW Women’s Championship

Azaria reminds us that Dixie defeated Catherine Quine at Wrestlepocalypse, and then defeated both Quine and Ashley Amazon in a triple threat match on TV to retain her title. Quine got a rematch for the title tonight though, because it was Ashley who was pinned by Dixie after a Kiss of Death.

This match goes down as a showcase of Catherine Quine’s rise in the TCW Women’s division, while Dixie Diamond tries to cheat as much as she can to escape with a victory. Womanizer Robbie Gordon says that Dixie is still damn hot despite her age, while Catherine is probably the hottest chick alive. Quine avoids few pins by always managing to kick out, and the finish sees her block a Kiss of Death, before connecting with a Cat’s Cradle for the win.

Catherine Quine celebrates her title victory, as Jason Azaria is indescribably excited with that. He says Catherine Quine definitely has the potential to become the icon of American women wrestling.

Result: Catherine Quine defeated Dixie Diamond © in 7:22 by pinfall with a Cat’s Cradle. Catherine Quine wins the TCW Women’s Championship.

We go backstage where Coach Dick is giving Larry Vessey a prep talk before his match against Womanizer Robbie Gordon. Coach Dick reminds Larry that he has a plan, just like he mentioned earlier in the locker room, and this is why it is very critical that Larry wins the match tonight. Larry says Coach Dick needn’t worry, Womanizer Robbie Gordon cost him dearly by eliminating him from the battle royal, and he will be determined as ever to defeat him tonight.

Larry Vessey (w. Coach Dick) vs. Womanizer Robbie Gordon (w. Cherry)

Azaria reminds us that Gordon caused Vessey’s elimination from the battle royal, while Rhodes says Gordon was only after redemption after Larry’s stablemate Richie conspired with Liberty to eliminate Gordon.

This was an incredible match between two veterans of the 80s wrestling scene. After a slow early build that warmed up the crowd quite well, the two superstars really went at each other. Womanizer Robbie Gordon particularly looked good in this match, relatively to his previous average performances so far. The finish saw Larry Vessey closing on the win, when Cherry distracted the referee. Coach Dick tried to confront Cherry, and Larry was distracted and went towards them as well, when Gordon hit him with his hand mirror on the back of his head, and the referee didn’t see that. Gordon then pinned Larry for the win.

Result: Womanizer Robbie Gordon (w. Cherry) defeated Larry Vessey in 17:04 by pinfall after Gordon hit Larry with his hand mirror on the back of the head, without the referee’s knowledge.

Rating: B-

After the match, Cherry enters the ring and celebrates with Gordon, who gives her a passionate kiss.

Gordon then stares down at Larry Vessey, who’s still lying on the mat, and taunts him and the All-Star Team with screams and shouts. He then grabs a table from under the ring, and readies to hit Larry with a Womanization through the table when…

All remaining members of the All-Star Team run towards the ring to save Larry. Gordon and Cherry are significantly outnumbered, but they somehow manage to escape to the ramp, and back to the locker room…

We cut backstage to a room where Sam Strong is sitting on a bench, calling someone on the phone, but doesn’t seem to get an answer. We hear Whistler’s voicemail, and Sam Strong leaves him a message. Strong tells Whistler he is very sorry because he failed him twice tonight. First, he lost to Brute Alexei, and thus could not avenge Whistler and USA against the Russian Demolition Machine. Then, Tasha was kidnapped and is nowhere to be seen, and he couldn’t do anything to save her. Finally, Strong tells Whistler that he wishes him to recover soon, and vows he will do everything to find out where Tasha is and get redemption from whoever the kidnappers were. He also promises that he will challenge Brute Alexei to another match and finally take him down!

“Shot or Suspension” Fatal 4-Way

Back to the ring for our Main Event, and Richie Pangrazzio Jr. is already there. The remaining three competitors make their entrances: Tyson Baine, then Dusty Streets, and finally the reigning TCW World Champion Rip Chord. Coach Dick is at ringside on one side of the ring, Karen Killer on the opposite side, and a table with a briefcase on it on each of the remaining two sides.

The match kicks off, and so do the speculations on commentary. Azaria and Rhodes first speculate about who is going to win, and who is going to be suspended. They then start speculating about the other two superstars, who will get a TCW World Championship contract, and who will get a TCW Television Championship contract, and when will they cash them out…

Early in the match, Chord and Richie go at it, while Baine tosses Dusty to the floor and they go at it outside the ring. Baine’s strength is too much for Dusty, as he tosses him into the steel steps, and gets back in the ring. Richie was working on Chord, but he turns around to a big shot from Baine. Baine and Chord double team Richie in the corner. Dusty comes back on the apron but Chord knocks him off and into the barrier. Richie gets back up and leaps down with a double clothesline, but Baine and Chord turn it around and hit a double suplex on Richie. Dusty comes in now and hits a suplex on Chord for a 2 count as Baine breaks the pin. Baine and Chord double team Dusty now, as Baine goes to the floor and runs Richie into the ring post.

For the next twelve minutes, we continue to see similar action, as if we were having a tag team match like the one we had last Tuesday on TCW Total Wrestling. Eventually, the faces get some control back, until Richie hits a Grand Slam on Chord and goes for the pin. Dusty runs in and breaks it, and he starts yelling at Richie for going for the pin. The match has by now entered the stage of “every man for himself” imposed by the Fatal 4-Way.

After more back and forth action, the finish comes after more than half an hour that everyone in the arena enjoyed. Baine starts by taking Chord down with a drop kick. He runs around the ring and nails one on Dusty. Baine runs around the rest of the ring and dropkicks Richie. He poses and yells, then turns around to spear Dusty through the barrier. Fans are chanting “Holy Shit!” and “This is Awesome” all over the arena.

Baine comes back in with Richie who grabs him for a Grand Slam. He powers out and nails a Hades Bomb, but Chord breaks the pin right before the 3 count. Chord and Baine are trading shots now. Chord hits a side slam on Baine, but Richie stops the pin. Richie hits a clothesline on Baine, then another one on Chord. Richie covers Baine for a 2 count. Richie calls for a Grand Slam and scoops Baine, but Baine slides out. Baine nails another Hades Bomb for a 2 count as Dusty runs in and breaks it up. Dusty hits Baine with the Dust-off. Chord hits Dusty with a Rip Chord DDT on top of Richie, and he covers Richie for the win.

Result: Rip Chord defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr. (w. Coach Dick), Dusty Streets and Tyson Baine (w. Karen Killer) in 32:54 by pinfall when Rip Chord defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr. with a Rip Chord DDT. Rip Chord makes his defence number 4 of the TCW World Championship. Richie Pangrazzio Jr. gets a 3-month suspension.

Rating: B+

After the match, Coach Dick is furious, knowing that his son Richie will now serve a 3-month suspension. Rip Chord celebrates as Tyson Baine recovers next to Karen Killer on the outside and looks on. Rip Chord poses with his title and stares back at Baine. Rip Chord points his finger towards Baine, and then turns around and points it towards briefcase number 1, assigning it to Baine, which means Dusty Streets gets briefcase number 2. Rip Chord poses again with his title as the show goes off the air.

TCW Presents… Where Angels Fear To Tread 1997

Feature Storyline 1: Brute Alexei vs. USA (Started Jan 97)

Brute Alexei made a series of assaults and destroyed many TCW faces, before Whistler emerged as the one who wants to stand up for America in front of this Russian Demolition Machine. At The War To Settle The Score, Brute Alexei ambushed Whistler before their match started, and hit him with the flag on the back of his head. Whistler, however, asked the referee to ring the bell and get the match underway, but he was never able to recover and was dominated by Brute Alexei. At Wrestlepocalypse, Brute Alexei defeated Whistler clean in a Flag Match.

After Brute Alexei caused Sam Strong’s elimination from one of the “Shot or Suspension” qualifiers, a match between the two was booked for Total Mayhem. Before the match, Brute Alexei “fired” his manager Tasha, who then joined Sam Strong’s side. Late during the match, Tasha was kidnapped by two unknown persons, and Strong went after her rescue, eventually getting counted out…

It is April 29, 1997 and we are live from the Washington Coliseum in Washington, DC for TCW Total Wrestling.

Sam Strong is in the ring to close the show. We see replays from different segments involving Strong, Brute Alexei and Tasha, summing up the events that took place at Total Mayhem. Strong cuts a promo and calls out Alexei to the ring.

Strong: Well, let me tell you something, brother. At Total Mayhem, you proved what kind of man you are. You weren’t even man enough to rescue the lady that has worked so hard for you. I understand what you did, brother! You want to defeat me. You think that, by defeating me, you would have accomplished what your current mind is focusing on right now, because you want to humiliate American wrestling, and I am the icon of American wrestling.

Strong takes a pause, as Brute Alexei remains silent. The crowd is chanting “We Want Tasha” all over the arena right now.

Strong: Right. I understand what you did at Total Mayhem, but I don’t like the way you did it. I don’t like the fact that you had the guts to use your own manager, a lady, as bait. Yes, I know this whole “kidnapping” thing was your doing. So let me tell you something, brother! I’m gonna do everything I can to find Tasha and bring her back, and I’m also going to challenge you for a rematch!

Strong takes off his shirt for a fight, and he tells Alexei to make a move and accept the challenge for a rematch. Strong and Alexei come to face to face. Alexei leaves the ring and starts walking up the ramp as the crowd boos. The Justice Mafia music hits and they appear in the crowd.

Alexei watches the Justice Mafia from the ramp as Strong watches from the ring. The crowd chants for Strong as the Justice Mafia surrounds the ring. They attack Strong, while Alexei continues to watch from the ramp. Strong tries to fight off but gets beaten down with a significant number disadvantage. The Justice Mafia members turn their attention to Alexei but he walks to the top of the stage. Alexei looks back at the ring where the Justice Mafia hit a triple powerbomb on Sam Strong, and the show goes off the air…

Starr: Alexei, I know that if you unleash your beast, I will go down and probably not get back up. But I wanted to have this confrontation anyway, because I have things to say and I hope some of my words sink in for you.

Starr shows us replays of Alexei and Strong in the ring last week, and for the first time, we get to see Alexei talking.

Alexei: I know what I did watching the Justice Mafia beat the crap out of Sam Strong last week, Mickey, and I loved it. I know exactly what I’m doing, and I will get what I want. I will take Strong’s challenge and face him in a rematch at Where Angels Fear To Tread.

There are cheers from the fans at this announcement, and you can tell that Brute Alexei has really become that major heel that everyone wants to see his ass kicked, let alone by the icon Sam Strong. Alexei then starts running down Starr.

Alexei: See, I don’t need some old dumbass mustache guy to come out and put his nose in other people’s business. Look at you, Starr. You’re like 20 years past your prime, a fat, pathetic, old and lazy bastard. I wonder how you think this steel chair is going to help you.

Starr drops the mic and gets ready to fight. Alexei smacks Starr and tosses the chair out of the ring. Starr gets in his face and readies for a fight, but here comes Sam Strong to the ring.

Starr exits the ring and now Strong readies for a fight when the Justice Mafia’s music hits and they come down the ramp.

Strong backs out of the ring and watches from the apron. The Justice Mafia’s members enter the ring, attack Alexei and beat him down. Strong comes back with the steel chair and makes the save, as Alexei and he clear the ring. Strong runs down to the floor and beats the Justice Mafia with the chair. Strong comes back to the ring to face Alexei, as the Justice Mafia members retreat and watch from the ramp. Strong drops the chair and faces off with Alexei. He nails him with a Strong Arm Tactics and stands over him as Strong’s music plays back. We go to replays as Strong heads up the ramp. Strong taunts Alexei, who is up in the ring right now, and the show goes off the air with Strong and Alexei staring each other down.

Jason Azaria and Kyle Rhodes welcome us to the May 13, 1997 episode of TCW Total Wrestling, live from Qwest Arena in Boise, ID. We go right to the ring and out comes Sam Strong to a huge pop.

Since Alexei won the match at Total Mayhem, he gets to pick the stipulation for the rematch. Meanwhile, Sam Strong gets to pick Alexei’s opponent for tonight. Sam Strong starts, and he picks Bryan Vessey to be Alexei’s opponent tonight.

Brute Alexei then appears on the big screen, and shouts three words: “Last Man Standing”. The video stops playing on the big screen, and Strong looks on worried, while the fans seem to like this, and so does Nero…

Bryan Vessey comes out first, and he’s followed by Brute Alexei. Back and forth action to start the match, and we then see ongoing brawling and a lot of offence from both sides. Brute Alexei eventually takes control. Alexei calls for a Thunderous Power Bomb, but Bryan fights him off and nails a suplex. Bryan with a 2 count, and he then goes up top but Alexei cuts him off. Alexei grabs Bryan off the top and nails a Thunderous Power Bomb for the win.

Result: Brute Alexei defeated Bryan Vessey in 9:52 by pinfall with a Thunderous Power Bomb.

Strong goes at it with Tyler but Alexei nails Strong with the chair. Alexei stands over Strong and yells, “Alexei Crush!” as we go to commercials.

6-Man Elimination Tag Team Match

Sam Strong & The Vessey Boys (w. Coach Dick) vs. The Justice Mafia (w. Karen Killer & Professor Nero)

Jason Azaria and Kyle Rhodes remind us that the Vessey Boys will face the Justice Mafia (Eric Tyler & Vengeance) at Where Angels Fear To Tread in a #1 contender match for the TCW Tag Team Championships.

Tyler starts with Chris, and the Justice Mafia keeps Chris grounded in their corner, delivering cheap shots. Bryan finally comes in and cleans house of the Justice Mafia. Bryan with a 2 count on Tyler, then Vengeance runs in and Bryan sends both Tyler and Vengeance over the top rope and takes out Baine. Bryan stands alone in the ring now but he goes to the floor to keep up the attack. Bryan slams Vengeance into the announcers table and gets disqualified.

Elimination Number 1: Bryan Vessey is eliminated by DQ after using the announcers table.

Later in the match, the Justice Mafia members control Strong in their corner. They go on exchanging tags and beating Strong down. Strong finally walks and makes the tag. Chris Vessey comes in and he goes at it with Vengeance. Chris then knocks Tyler off the apron, and dives through the ropes to take out Baine. Chris goes to the top and hits a missile dropkick on Vengeance, who kicks out at 2! Tyler tags in but Chris fights them both off, until Vengeance hits him with a big kick. Tyler hits Chris with a Tradition Lift for the pin.

Elimination Number 2: Chris Vessey is eliminated by Eric Tyler by pinfall with a Tradition Lift.

It’s down to 3 on 1 now. Strong brawls with Tyler but Baine tags in. They beat Strong down in the corner, then Vengeance comes in and they keep the pressure on Strong on quick tags. Strong fights them off and goes to work on Vengeance, the legal man. Strong dumps Tyler and Baine from the ring and nails Vengeance with a Strong Arm Tactics for the pin.

Elimination Number 3: Vengeance is eliminated by Sam Strong by pinfall with a Strong Arm Tactics.

Tyler charges and Strong goes for a bodyslam but Strong blocks it. Baine argues with the referee, but then nails Sam Strong with a spear and gets disqualified.

Elimination Number 4: Tyson Baine is eliminated by DQ after attacking Sam Strong.

Tyler crawls over to cover but Strong kicks out at 2! The Justice Mafia members are frustrated at ringside! Tyler smacks Strong and talks trash. Strong goes for the Strong Arm Tactics but Baine and Vengeance hit the ring and attack Strong for the DQ.

Elimination Number 5: Eric Tyler is eliminated by DQ when Tyson Baine and Vengeance attacked Sam Strong.

Result: Sam Strong & The Vessey Boys (w. Coach Dick) defeated The Justice Mafia (w. Karen Killer & Professor Nero) in a 6-Man Elimination Tag Team match in 17:21 when all members of The Justice Mafia where eliminated.

After the bell, The Justice Mafia’s members beat Strong up and nail the triple powerbomb. They exit and out comes Brute Alexei while Strong is still down in the ring. Alexei stands over Strong then just leaves without doing anything. Alexei stops on the ramp and turns around to come back in the ring. He brings a steel chair in the ring and repeatedly smashes Strong with it. He then helps Strong up and hits him with 3 Thunderous Power Bombs in a row!!! He stands over a helpless Strong and starts counting to 10. At the count of 10, Alexei lets a devilish laugh out loud then leaves the ring and yells “Alexei Crush!” from the stage.

Feature Storyline 2: “Shot or Suspension”: Dusty Streets vs. Rip Chord (Started Apr 97)

At The War To Settle The Score, Rip Chord defeated Dusty Streets to retain his TCW World Championship. Two months later, at Total Mayhem, Rip Chord defeated Richie Pangrazzio Jr., Dusty Streets and Tyson Baine in a “Shot or Suspension” match to retain his TCW World Championship. Rip Chord assigned briefcase number 1 to Tyson Baine, and briefcase number 2 to Dusty Streets. Richie Pangrazzio Jr. will now be serving a 3-month suspension.

The April 29th episode of TCW Total Wrestling opens with Professor Nero in the ring. We see footage from the match finish and the following closing events at Total Mayhem. Nero says that next week’s episode of TCW Total Wrestling will kick off with a “briefcase opening” segment, and we will know who gets a TCW World Championship contract, and who gets a TCW Television Championship contract. He calls out the two briefcase holders and out they come.

Dusty comes out first, and he is then followed by Tyson Baine, who’s accompanied as usual by Karen Killer. Dusty cuts a promo first, and he says he has unfinished business with Rip Chord, who defeated him at The War To Settle The Score. He says Liberty is his friend, so he really hopes that Chord made the right choice when assigning the briefcases, but he doesn’t think so. Dusty says that he actually deserves the World title contract, because he nailed Baine with a Dust-off and was about to win before Rip Chord broke the pin and stole the match. Dusty challenges Baine to a “Briefcase Defending” match, and says if he beats him then Baine has to agree on swapping the briefcases.

Baine doesn’t say a word because, as usual, it’s his manager Karen Killer who does the talking. Killer immediately says “agreed” and Baine looks stunned and asks her what the hell is going on. Killer says she had a vision last night, and she is sure that Dusty has the briefcase for the TCW World Championship, and he’s about to hand it to Baine on a silver plate.

Dusty looks shocked now and he start backing down, as if he really buys into Killer’s vision. Dusty says “just forget it” and withdraws his proposition, but Nero interrupts and says he likes Killer’s creativity, and this has actually given him a great idea. He says next week, they will have a sort of “roulette”, a big spinning wheel where pictures of all TCW wrestlers are included. He says Dusty will spin the wheel, and the corresponding wrestler will represent him in a match. Baine will then do the same. The winner of the match will give the guy he represents a chance to reassign the briefcases.

Killer is furious now and she says that’s not exactly what we wanted. She says they don’t want luck to be a major factor in this, her proposition was that Dusty fights Baine for the briefcase assigning rights. Nero asks Killer who the hell does she thinks she is trying to dictate how things are done in this company. He books the “roulette segment” for next week and dismisses everyone.

As Dusty Streets turns around to leave the ring, Tyson Baine ambushes him and hits a vicious shot with the briefcase on the back of Dusty’s head. Nero backs down to the corner looking scared, as Tyson stares him down. Karen Killer tries to calm down Baine, and she leads him up the ramp back to the locker room.

Later that night, we go to the All-Star Team locker room, where Coach Dick Pangrazzio has gathered the Vessey family for a reunion and strategy discussion.

Coach Dick says that luck hasn’t been on the All-Star Team’s side, and things haven’t been going well for them over the last few months. Richie is not out for 3 months, The Vessey Brothers have lost the Tag Team titles, and Chris Vessey needs to find a good teammate because he lost on several occasions when teaming up with Jason Jackson.

Coach Dick then tells them not to worry though, because he has a great plan, and he’s already achieved a big part of it. He starts talking about the TCW World Championship and says now that Richie is out for 3 months, Larry should shift his focus towards Rip Chord. He says he spoke to Professor Nero earlier and they watched the replay from Total Mayhem. They both agreed that Gordon should have been disqualified and his victory is not legitimate. Therefore, Larry will get a rematch against Gordon at Where Angels Fear To Tread, and it will be a #1 contender match for the TCW World Championship.

He then speaks about the TCW Tag Team titles and says it’s a great opportunity to solve this problem, as well as Chris’ partner. He says Bryan and Chris will team up together as The Vessey Boys and start a TCW Tag Team titles run. He finally talks about their unfinished business with The Justice Mafia and says he keeps thinking about a solution for that too.

The May 6 episode of TCW Total Wrestling opens with the “roulette segment”, while Jason Azaria and Kyle Rhodes remind us that we have a special guest for tonight’s show, and he has asked to have a one-on-one confrontation with Brute Alexei at the end of night. The show kicks off with Professor Nero and the TCW World Champion Rip Chord in the ring.

Nero cuts a promo about how brilliant he is at running the business, and the level of creativity that he has, which lead to this segment. Chord tells him to cut the crap and stop wasting time, because all of this is useless. Chord says none of this will matter, because he is the best at what he does, so let’s just get on with it and get it done. Nero asks Chord to watch his tongue and Chord doesn’t look intimidated whatsoever, but simply ignores the TCW Operating Director. Nero calls for Tyson and Dusty and out they come with their briefcases.

Dusty comes out first and he said he is disgusted at what Baine did to him last week, waiting for him to turn his back before he attacked him. Killer says they are the children of the devil and they don’t need to explain themselves to anyone, let alone a cocky old sinner like Dusty. Dusty readies for a fight but Nero calms things down as Rip is watching and laughing. Nero says he didn’t call them out for a fight, but he called them out to see who is going to fight for them, and their right to reassign the briefcases.

Baine spins the wheel first and he draws Joey Flame. Baine seems happy to get one half of the tag team champions to fight for him. Dusty spins the wheel next and he draws Larry Vessey, and the match is scheduled for tonight. Baine says this is not fair because Larry has a manager while Joey doesn’t. Nero agrees and he says Coach Dick will be banned from ringside for this match. He also commands Dusty and Baine to leave the building immediately so that they don’t interfere, and says the winner will reassign the briefcases and open them next week.

The two workers still seemed to have that heat between them, from the rivalry between their two respective tag teams, which saw The Blazing Flames steal the tag team titles from The Vessey Brothers. Teddy runs in and attacks Larry, causing the DQ. Teddy hits Larry with a Feel The Burn, and then Joey is up and The Blazing Flames hit Larry with a Flame On. Bryan and Chris run in to make the save, and Bryan tosses Teddy out of the ring, then The Vessey Boys work on Joey. Teddy grabs a chair and brutally attacks The Vessey Boys. All 3 members of The Vessey family are lying in the ring, as The Blazing Flames walk up the ramp looking in.

Result: Larry Vessey defeated Joey Flame in 8:04 by DQ when Teddy Flame interfered and attacked Larry.

On the March 13 episode of TCW Total Wrestling, Womanizer Robbie Gordon says, in a short interview segment backstage, that he will use Chris Vessey tonight to show Larry what will be waiting for him at Where Angels Fear To Tread.

Before the bell rings, Gordon hits Chris with his hand mirror on the back of the head. Chris fights back and the referee rings the bell, but this turns out to be a squash match that is dominated by Gordon. Gordon hits the Womanization for the win.

Result: Womanizer Robbie Gordon (w. Cherry) defeated Chris Vessey in 5:03 by pinfall with a Womanization.

After the match, Gordon calls out for Larry to come and get some of it, but nobody shows up. Gordon hits Chris with another Womanization, and leaves with Cherry to the sound of boos.

It is time to know who gets a TCW World title shot, and who gets a TCW Television title shot. Azaria and Rhodes remind us that last week, Larry Vessey represented Dusty Streets, while Joey Flame represented Tyson Baine. Larry defeated Joey, so Dusty gets to reassign the briefcases tonight, and they then open them to see who gets what.

Chord: At first, Dusty, you didn’t trust my judgement and wanted to exchange with Tyson the briefcases that I have assigned at Total Mayhem. You then hesitated when Karen Killer also seemed to like this idea. She said she has seen a vision that briefcase number 1, which Tyson holds, has the TV title contract, and you bought into that crap. I wonder whether that Goth child of the Devil has actually seen the future, or if she was just messing with your mind. I think you wonder as well, and I am eager to see what you will do tonight, now that the ball is in your court.

Dusty: Why don’t you just shut the hell up? In your words, Rip, “It doesn’t matter”, because sooner or later, you’re gonna have to face me again for the TCW World Championship, and trust me, this time I am readier than ever, and you will suffer.

Killer: More sins, more sins… Week after week, we discover more sins on this roster. Last week, it was greed and selfishness, from Teddy Flame. He got us screwed when he attacked Larry Vessey, but this is a matter for another time. The Devil always gets what he wants, even if he sometimes has to use unimaginable, sick and twisted ways. As long as the Devil’s voice keeps guiding us, we shalt fear a thing.

Nero says enough with the talking and he asks everyone to get back to what they’re here to do. He signals Dusty to reassign the briefcases, and Dusty takes a moment to think about it. Dusty finally admits that he lost, and he now thinks both Rip Chord and Karen Killer were right, so he’s going to keep briefcase number 2. Nero asks him to open it, and Dusty dances with joy as he discovers a TCW World Championship contract in his briefcase.

Killer mouths “Damn it! I knew it!” and we see a very angry look on Tyson’s face. Tyson sprints towards Dusty and nails him with a spear. He then readies for a Hades Bomb, but Rip Chord grabs him for behind and hits him with a Rip Chord DDT. Dusty is standing back up now and he nails Chord with the Dust-off. Dusty yells that he’s going to cash his title shot immediately, and face Chord for the title at Where Angels Fear To Tread. Dusty picks up the TCW World Championship and stands over Chord, holding the title up for the fans. Dusty’s music plays and he drops the title and walks up the ramp looking towards the ring as the show goes off the air…

On the May 20 episode of Total Wrestling, and right after the 6-man elimination tag team match, it’s time for the contract signing for the TCW World Championship match at Where Angels Fear To Tread.

Jason Azaria introduces Professor Nero who will preside over the contract signing. The ring is set for a typical contract signing. Rip Chord comes out first and he is followed by Dusty Streets.

Nero says he has major announcements to make. First, he says that the Chord vs. Streets World title match at Where Angels Fear To Tread will be a Hell in a Cell match, and this type of match will become the trademark of this PPV every year. He then says that he would like to spice things up a bit and add to the stipulation. There was a third man involved in all of this all over this month, and he’s going to be a part of it at the PPV as well. Nero announces that Tyson Baine will be the special guest referee for the match!

Tyson and Killer come out to a mixed reaction, looking as intimidating as ever. As reigning TCW World champion, Rip gets to speak first. Rip gives credit to Dusty for having the guts to immediately cash in his contract. He says Dusty is such a fighter for coming right back after being beaten down multiple times. Rip says Dusty won’t be getting right back up after the beating this Sunday. Rip says he has faced and survived the likes of Sam Strong in Hell in a Cell matches. He says Dusty has no idea what he’s getting himself into, and he will make sure that Dusty’s first Hell in a Cell match will be his last. Rip signs the contract.

Dusty says he expects threats like that from Rip, but we all know if it weren’t for Romeo Hearthrob, Dusty could have been standing here as TCW World Champion. Dusty says they both know that he is capable of smashing the self-proclaimed best at what he does. Dusty signs the contract.

They both stand and come face to face. Nero yells at them not to start brawling, saying this is only meant to be a verbal confrontation. The two of them ignore him and eventually starts brawling. Nero is now furious and he’s yelling at Tyson to separate them. Rip and Dusty are exchanging shots in the corner, until Dusty gets the upper hand and calls for a Dust-off. Tyson sprints out of nowhere and hits Dusty with a spear. Tyson then locks Rip and nails him with a Hades Bomb through the table. Tyson helps Dusty back up before hitting him with a Hades Bomb on top of Rip. Tyson yells “I am the Law” and poses over Rip and Dusty as the show goes off the air.

Other Minor Storylines

At Wrestlepocalypse, Liberty defeated Demon Spite to retain his TCW Television title. At Total Mayhem, Liberty defended his title against Demon Spite’s partner, Demon Anger. During the match, which was a no DQ match, Demon Spite interfered, until Archangel came to Liberty’s rescue. On the April 29 episode of Total Wrestling, Professor Nero booked Archangel & Liberty vs. The Demons of Rage for Where Angels Fear To Tread. A week later, the Demons attacked Archangel after his win over Joel Bryant. On the May 13 episode, the Demons attacked Liberty after his win over Romeo Hearthrob.

At Total Mayhem, The Blazing Flames defeated Spirit Warriors and The Justice Mafia in a Triple Threat Tag Team match to retain their TCW Tag Team titles. Also at Total Mayhem, Mr Lucha & Team Alberta defeated The Untouchables in a 6-Man tag team match. On the April 29 episode of Total Wrestling, Team Alberta earned another win against The Tag Team Specialists. Two weeks later, Team Alberta defeated Eric Tyler & Vengeance, with help from Sam Strong, to become the #1 contender for the Tag Team titles.

At Total Mayhem, Catherine Quine defeated Dixie Diamond to become the TCW Women’s champion. On the May 6 episode of Total Wrestling, Bertha Mayle attacked Catherine Quine after Quine defeated Cherry. Two weeks later, Mayle was booked to wrestled Quine for the title at Where Angels Fear To Tread.
