I've been working on a first gen rom hack for a little over a year now. It's planned to bea sequel to Red and Blue, taking place in Kanto, but also including new areas. I have made several modifications to the engine and the game has features such as running shoes, the physical special split, various bug fixes, automatic repel system, new mons and moves, steel, dark and fairy types, etc. I have also completely overhauled the way the game handles its in-battle graphics, and it uses 2nd gen style sprites, which are a lot better looking than what we had in first gen. I am also creating a completely custom and more challenging AI. In related news, I've been playing a lot of Pokemon in the last couple of days as a helpful friend of mine pointed out that people use the 6 in-game markers you can give pokemon to mark their IVs.... so I've gone through all of my pokemon (about 50 boxes) and now I know for sure what is worth having and what isn't. I've also done LOT of wonder trading to get rid of some of the bad ones and the breejects that will never be raised but are actually pretty good. Also, if anyone still wants to actually play this game, I'm still down for that. As champion and the leader of the Abnormal Gym, I'm ready-ish for all challengers! I have Ruby so I'd guess it's the same thing. Now my question is.. In HG/SS you could kill certain pokemon to raise IV's is it the same in this version, or is it just luck???? With that said, it wont change in the next game (Most likely) as they have followed the same formula since the second generation of games. Now I am going to explain a little, but it is confusing as hell. </p><p> </p><p> You have the two things mixed up. There are IV's and EV's for pokemon. IV's for a pokemon are decided when it is an egg, or first encounter. EV's are earned in battles. (Some items double EV's and/or add 4 EV's in battle.)</p><p> </p><p> IV's as mentioned are given when you first encounter a pokemon or its egg. Now there is no inherint way to check a pokemons IV's without getting it too lvl 100. However you can visit a man inside the pokemon center (In Sapphire/Ruby he is on battle island.) He will tell you if the IV's are good or not. 31 is the maximum amount of IV's a pokemom can have. This translates to 31 stat points at level 100, and roughly 16 at level 50. (If you play casual, or casual competitive. Dont stress about these. These are only needed if you want to create an absolutely perfect pokemon. So only for competitive play, the time invesment isnt worth it if you only play against friends.) </p><p> </p><p> EV's are awarded after each pokemon battle. (Every pokemon has a stat or two that it boosts. When it is defeated in pokemon. E.g. Every time you face a Pikachu your pokemon gets 1 speed EV stat.) You can check your pokemons EVs by tabbing over to the boxing bag that has a stat tree and a bar showing how many stats have been allocated. Each stat can have a maximum of 252 EV points. (This roughly equals 62 points at level 100 or 31 points at level 50.) With a maximum of 508 EV points in total. (These arent needed if you play casually or just play through the game. But if you play against friends and want a leg up or competitively then I would do this as it is easy.) </p><p> </p><p> There are plenty of guides that can help you train EV's but if you do only horde battles, with EV boosting items and your pokemon has Pokerus you can max i5 out in 10 or so battles. </p><p> </p><p> If you want more information or help just ask.</p> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
