Patriotic characters can be really good nuanced flawed faces. I like to think of him as the antithesis of Muhammad Hassan (the anti-american who made some valid political points but was ultimately a great heel), Patriot can have many of the distasteful elements of nationalism while remaining a popular babyface because 'America yay!'. You could have a lot of fun with that.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> You got a link to that re-render, maybe it'll help me get more into him. Running UPJ. I've always had a hard time getting into running Japanese feds because I have no head for puro, but the auto-booker neatly sidesteps that issue for me. I've been letting it handle booking tour cards while I focus on roster management. <p> </p><p> Apparently, when I set backstage rules requiring wrestlers show up early and dress up, that was an invitation for half the roster to do otherwise. I've got Shockwave as the main brand and I'll have Aftershock as the U30 sort of brand. I'll have a 2nd PPV each month that will rotate between those three eventually. I've only officially brought in 3 wrestlers to fill out requirements: Seven Brandt, Jess Hart & Lenny Rhodes. El Angel got caught with steroids on the first show, so I'll have to add another wrestler. </p><p> </p><p> New Year, No Limits is looking like:</p><p> 1. AWF World Heavyweight: Silva Dolla vs. Timothy Hawk</p><p> 2. Core vs. Cross</p><p> 3. AWF United-States: Derrick Rollins vs. Garrett South</p><p> 4. AWF World Tag Team: Nick Hart & Daryl Lance vs. Beautiful Bryce & Cool Chris</p><p> 5. AWF Starlets: Alexis vs. Jess Hart</p><p> 6. AWF Trillion Dollar Belt: X vs. Y</p><p> 7. Rosa & Diamond vs. Megan Ferrell & Kellie</p><p> 8. Jean-Claude Giroux vs. Immortal Warrior</p><p> </p><p> I will be doing a Cruiserweight Classic to build up pop in Canada though. I've negotiated deals with UPJ, GBWF, T-ONE, N-EW, GNW and GILL to provide me with participants.</p>

In a sense, Hulk Hogan, "Lex Express" Lex Luger and Jim Duggan all used the patriot gimmick at some point, but quite differently. I don't mind Patriot because he's a solid hand, makes for easy feuds, functions well as a mentor in throw together tag teams, and so on. Basically, he's a really nice upper mid gatekeeper type. So I definitely like what he brings to the table as a whole.</p>

Basically like how Andre was booked in the 70s and early 80s. Heavily protected losses. Sure he has one foot out the door, but he can still give you some quality matches. </p><p> </p><p> I tend to bring him in for three-month runs. So a few suggestions / tips on that: </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Sports Entertainment Tips</strong></p><p> </p><p> -look at the WWE. Or WWF. Any period really. Look at the formatting of the shows, and you get a pretty good idea of how to structure shows and present things. </p><p> </p><p> -don't overthink the idea of storylines. In truth, all wrestling products use some form of storytelling, even if they are a very "legit" product. They still use feuds and grudges to justify why two (or more) people want to compete in a ring. SE just adds some flash and flourish to it, making it about more. But the majority of feuds and storylines in your typical SE product can still just be about "I want your title", "I want to prove I'm better than you" or "I want to take something from you". </p><p> </p><p> -popularity is what matters. Fans want your most popular wrestlers. So give them to them. Feature your top talent on every show. Angles or matches, but have them on the show. In TEW, an SE company can have a show anchored by strong angles. And good talkers who are popular can give you those. </p><p> </p><p> -find angles that use workers to their strengths. Create angles if you have to. </p><p> </p><p> -look for workers with a "hook". That can be great Entertainment skills, Menace, or Sex Appeal. These workers can build up popularity relatively easily if booked well. Even if you aren't looking to move them up the card, it can be transferred to someone else. </p><p> </p><p> -this is true of any product, but you can't push everyone at once. It can help to categorize your workers a bit. Who is your ace? Who are the main event anchors? who are the backbone workhorses? Jobbers to the stars? Who are the prospects you want to build? This can help structure your shows and feuds. </p><p> </p><p> -popularity is king. So a popularity worker who is pretty mediocre in the ring is still pretty valuable. Especially if they have a hook. Whereas a great in-ring talent with no popularity is less valuable. At least for now. </p><p> </p><p> -how you structure your shows can vary. Personally, I start by adding the angles I want, add a strong main event (often a tag or even 3v3), reasonable semi main event, and then the remainder of the card doesn't worry me much. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>AWF Specific</strong></p><p> -Hawk and Dolla are money. MONEY. They can carry the company for awhile. Giroux is up there too. </p><p> </p><p> -I generally continue the starting storylines for a while. I keep Tyrannus out of the ring in the main feud, using him in angles and dark matches against jobbers to build up his skills. </p><p> </p><p> -trying to change too much too quickly can create a mess. Like adding a whole ton of indy talent. While that's fun, most lack the popularity to be overly useful in the short-term. </p><p> </p><p> -I am guilty of under-using the ladies in most AWF saves. But pick a couple of the best ones and build the division around them. Use them to bring the others up in skill. </p><p> </p><p> -its canon that the AWF hasn't done that well with the tag division in recent years, even going so far as to deactivate the belts for a time. So it needs to built back up. Multiple ways to do it. </p><p> </p><p> -look at how the WWE uses special attractions and you can get an idea of how to use the likes of Immortal Warrior and Towerblock. Neither of them are quite The Undertaker (and specifically, The Streak) nor Chris Jericho, but it gives you an idea. Use them as surprise partners in main event tag teams. Use them to tag with younger guys to build them up.</p>

<p>Great advice from BigPapa, of course.</p><p> </p><p>

Added to that, don’t underestimate the value of ‘pure’ jobbers. Bring in a local guy for the night, or bring someone in on a 1 month contract, and him jobbing to an established star with good momentum can often be a perfectly acceptable semi-main. (Make sure the star is charismatic, and set him to dominate and win in 6 minutes or less.)</p><p> </p><p>

Further down the card, people coming in for brief runs can job to your midcarders, letting them keep reasonable momentum going while THEY’RE jobbing to your big stars.</p>

Emma Moore in kayfabe is actually a backstage interviewer despite being labeled as an authority figure. I'm hiring Casey Skym for my authority figure role but you've got options in Terry Thunder & Rudy Single if you don't mind their toxic presence.

Also for Immortal Warrior & Towerblock. I'm not totally sure how I'll use either. Towerblock actually isn't in TD for me, only Immortal Warrior & Marshal Law are so while I don't have immediate plans for Towerblock, he'll probably come back and be a force. I like the idea of Albert & Towerblock tag team dominating my tag division for the year. At 40 years old though, he's the same age as Brock Lesnar so he's not as old as his occasional wrestler status makes it seem.

I've got Warrior putting over Giroux since I had nothing for Giroux immediately. I'd gladly consider just making Warrior my GM. He's a positive influence and good enough at entertaining. Maybe I'll have him GM Aftershock.

Also I found a role for Immortal Warrior. I rehired VIP and gave him a Hollywood Star gimmick. When he returned, he did so by attacking Immortal Warrior during a promo. The Women Division gets enriched by Mai-Li-Kato and Jess Hart. And I reduced the risque in the product so I get ridd of the Eye Candy stipulation.</p><p> </p><p>

And I'm thinking about pairing Avalanche and Tyrannus together. Has anyone experience with this combination?</p><p> </p><p>

It really isn't that many belts but you can always retire them anyways. If I recall, someone mentioned Trillion Dollar Belt being a less hardcore Hardcore Championship. You can cash it in for a Trillion Dollars (named after the ex-owner) typically after a certain amount of defenses but no one ever gets around to it because something always goes wrong. That's the way I'm using it but if you can come up with something more interesting or just don't want it then you can always get rid of it.</p>

<p>All this talk of AWF got me to start a new game. Thanks guys. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

So I always make some tweaks before playing. This go-round, I changed the owner of the company to be Allen Packer, whom I imported from the Cornellverse along with Reverie. In this version, Reverie (a web-based streaming platform akin to Netflix) was looking to acquire a wrestling product and swooped in to buy AWF during the late troubles. </p><p> </p><p>

The company went off the air overnight, with Reverie promising a rejuvenated AWF returning at New Year, No Limits, with AWF Shockwave and the post-show Aftershock airing on-demand every Wednesday following. </p><p> </p><p>

I took advantage of the month-long downtime to do some hiring and re-arranging. FAW got some new dev talent signed and also a weekly TV show: FAW Stars Of Tomorrow. </p><p> </p><p>

My only cut was Super Croak, a character I have literally nothing for; but I did sign some talent. All my signings were either friends or relatives of my current talent and/or locker room leaders who could boost the deteriorating backstage morale. </p><p> </p><p>

Speaking of backstage morale, I lied that Super Croak was my only cut. Less than a week into the game, Kelly King cheated on Timothy Hawk with Merengue (who was on my cut list because of his shitty attitude). So I cut both King and Merengue to appease my top star and remove a locker room cancer. </p><p> </p><p>

I took the occasion of Merengue's firing to also retire the Television Championship; I've never seen the point of a title like that and since we're an online streaming company it sounds weird to have a Television title. I may introduce the AWF European or Hardcore championships down the road, but for now my plan is to focus on the existing titles. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm continuing all three starting storylines (I added Mo Fury to the Hawk vs. The Dolla Club storyline since he's in the stable, too) and also set up feuds for Ricky Fyre vs. Omri Stone, Patriot vs. Jean-Claude Giroux, the Specialists (Nick Hart and Daryl Lance) vs. Force of Nature (The Mountain (Albert) and Avalanche), and Alexis Funk vs. Jazz vs. Claudia, since they are the only three women who move the needle currently. </p><p> </p><p>

A lot of my signings aren't going to be featured as stars on the show, but as enhancement talent to put over my stars. But some of the names I plan to actually utilize are Shay Kinsella and Luke Graves, whom I'm putting in a feud together; Kosmo Supreme (whom I may put in a hood to avoid him being associated as a Hart for the time being); Jess Hart, who will naturally take her place at the top of the Starlet's Division after an appropriate period of hype videos; and Wilson Hancock, who will return to feud with El Angel.</p>

New game, who dis? </p><p> </p><p>

The ace Kintaro Kinjo is on time decline which is disappointing. The plan for HoI X is to have Kintaro Kinjo vs. Juro Deguchi for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship (Deguchi will leave Hall of the United Throne to make his own stable called The Four Heavenly Kings with Goto/Kato/Waotaka), while Waotaka Eda will face Erik Van Rjin and try to redeem himself from Erik's betrayal after he wins the Ozeki Summit. Oda Yamawaki will be involved elsewhere, we shall see. I'm very much just parroting NJPW's schedule but scaled down for 9 months worth of touring and the smaller TEW calendar.</p><p> </p><p>

So Deguchi vs. Kinjo will happen for the Eastern Heavyweight soon and newly heel Deguchi will win, mostly to free up Kinjo for the King's Cup (Oda will be meeting him in the finals). </p><p> </p><p>

Hopefully this game lasts longer than most of my recent ones.</p>

Mo is attractive because he feels like the sort of guy who would be huge IRL, and who would be an effortless star. I'm pretty sad he's got a negative personality to be honest because I'm always tempted to give him a push.

Very much agree. Everything about him is interesting. Brit, legit background, Star Quality. He could be groomed into a star. But the negativity of the personality just makes me not want to. Not when I can grab someone like Chad Zuma who is a bit older but offers some similar dynamics. In that sense, the ThunderVerse suffers from having too many options. It doesn't force you into the corner of using this guy, with his flaws, or not having anyone else who can offer the positives he does.

Well my AWF game flopped. I just keep getting hit with not enough interesting storylines. Hawk and Dolla are fine, but Cross and Core, Patriot and Giroux both flopped. And the effect it has on the overall card when you don't have enough storylines is so major that it's just demoralizing to keep going.

How do you, with the starting roster, get at least two storylines with at least B heat?
