<img alt="images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRrviVAPjKw1VcVwQv_xFyi2poMFxcqn8pVYLq53EWATOkN5GBlqA" data-src="https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRrviVAPjKw1VcVwQv_xFyi2poMFxcqn8pVYLq53EWATOkN5GBlqA" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

A table and two chairs are set up in the ring. Chris Jericho and AJ Styles are sitting at the table with paper and pens in front of them and Director of Operations Bret Hart is standing over them. We know what's happening here… a contract signing. Bret hypes this as PSW's dream match, to which the chants start shouting “Dream dream dream” which in turn makes Dusty Rhodes wave from the announce table. Chris Jericho signs. AJ Styles signs. The two shake hands in a display of mutual respect. The segment ends. This is a rarity, a contract signing where there are no fisticuffs or displays of anger. <strong>66</strong></p><p>

Chris Jericho came across well.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Chris Harris v T.J. Perkins</strong></p><p>

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, T.J. Perkins defeated Chris Harris in 6:35 by pinfall. <strong>42</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jeff Jarrett is incensed. He is so incensed his face is bright red. He rants about Eiji Ezaki, saying he is the better singer and the better wrestler which he will prove at Crowning Glory VIII. <strong>61</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>New Wave v Jay Lethal & Matt Sydal</strong></p><p>

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, New Wave defeated Matt Sydal and Jay Lethal in 10:14 when Kevin Steen defeated Jay Lethal by submission with a Sharpshooter. <strong>63</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Dusty Rhodes interviews Kevin Steen in a segment recorded before the tag team match just shown. Dusty asks Kevin how he feels facing a former National champion when he defends his Youth Championship at Crowning Glory VIII. Steen says he will fight anyone. <strong>43</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Potter speaks to Bret Hart. Potter wants a commitment from Bret that he is going to meet the new talent budget by the end of the year, Bret says he will. Potter says he is glad, but if Bret fails then his position will be under review. <strong>57</strong></p><p>

Chris Jericho enjoyed the freedom of going off script and performed well.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Adam Copeland v AJ Styles</strong></p><p>

In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Adam Copeland and AJ Styles went to a no contest in 16:20 due to Lance Storm attacking Adam Copeland and Chris Jericho attacking AJ Styles. <strong>82 – match of the night</strong></p><p>

<strong>CROWNING GLORY VIII</strong></p><p>

Sunday, week 2, October 2008</p><p>

Von Braun Center, Huntsville, Alabama</p><p>

<img alt="images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQI1EOpvpeY3e92EqDq72MgRaqG86c6wRhHNtzUvgXWtyJPQexr7Q" data-src="https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQI1EOpvpeY3e92EqDq72MgRaqG86c6wRhHNtzUvgXWtyJPQexr7Q" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Austin Aries v John Cena</strong></p><p>

A disappointing start to the biggest show in PSW history. This contest had some good action but looked awkward and Aries was hardly at the races. This allowed John Cena to give Aries the ass kicking he said he would when he spoke to Dusty Rhodes on the most recent PSW Weekly, and the win duly arrived in 9:51 by pinfall with a Spin-out powerbomb. <strong>46</strong></p><p>

Austin Aries was really off his game.</p><p>

The two didn't click.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Chris Hero v Keiji Sakoda</strong></p><p>

Thankfully the second bout was much better and got the show started. Again there was good action, but this time the match flowed much better and was far more entertaining for it. An even affair was edged by Sakoda, who has got himself in a great position to earn a Grappler's League wild card for one of the higher divisions. His win here came in 12:42 by pinfall. <strong>63</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/GenericTV01_zps79d95516.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>PSW TV TITLE</strong></p><p><strong>

Roderick Strong (champion, with Sting) v Teddy Hart</strong></p><p>

The first of four championship matches tonight saw the champion backed by The Icon defend against the maverick. The champion, backed by the legendary Sting at ringside got the better of his challenger, who for once for Teddy Hart wrestled a mature match. The champion retained in 11:20 by pinfall with a CX 02. Roderick Strong makes defence number 3 of his PSW TV Title. <strong>59</strong></p><p> </p><p>

AJ Styles speaks backstage. He says he is disappointed and angry at Chris Jericho's comments on PSW Weekly. He thought their friendship and mutual respect counted for a lot more, but AJ guesses he was wrong. He'll see Jericho in the ring… and wants his title. <strong>60</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Christopher Daniels v Low Ki</strong></p><p>

A very good match that deserved a place higher up the card. There was some great action, with both wrestlers favouring a fast paced offence with Ki adding in some stiff kicks to boot. The match could have gone either way but it was Daniels who just took it in 13:43 by pinfall with a Last Rites. <strong>77</strong></p><p>

Christopher Daniels has changed to a Clean Cut gimmick, rated 65.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Desperate Measures v Londrick</strong></p><p>

Londrick are not the dominant champions they once were in PSW, though there is a strong case for saying the tag team talent in PSW is much stronger now. A case in point are Desperate Measures who in Stevens and Tajiri are two very good individuals who work very well as a team and are former long time champions themselves. It was Desperate Measures who won this one, with a little left in the tank in 13:46 when Aaron Stevens defeated Brian Kendrick by submission. <strong>66</strong></p><p>

Aaron Stevens has changed to a Legitimate Athlete gimmick, rated 60.</p><p>

Aaron Stevens is improving in technical skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic04_zpsownldjao.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Kevin Steen (champion) v Matt Sydal</strong></p><p>

The second championship match was a great match and saw a rarity where a former PSW National champion challenged for the Youth Championship. Sydal has been working hard of late and is on an upward curve despite losing to Adam Copeland six nights ago. However, he found the hard hitting Kevin Steen to be too brutal to handle, and succumbed to the champion in 18:15 by submission with a Crossface. Kevin Steen makes defence number 5 of his PSW Youth Championship title. <strong>76</strong></p><p>

Kevin Steen has won five consecutive matches.</p><p> </p><p>

Chris Jericho speaks from the locker room. He says he is not interested in being AJ Styles' friend. He is only interested in retaining the PSW National Championship tonight. <strong>88</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Psychosis v Randy Orton</strong></p><p>

A good match between a man trying to establish himself in PSW and a former National champion. Orton proved to be too good for his opponent, at least on this night, and vanquished his foe in 14:32 by pinfall with an O-Zone. <strong>65</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Eiji Ezaki v Jeff Jarrett</strong></p><p>

The two have built quite a feud over the past few weeks. Not about wrestling but about singing. Each man claimed he is the better singer. While the jury remains out on who has the best singing voice, there is no question that Eiji Ezaki has sold the most records, with his debut Jap Pop album reaching the top ten in the charts, something Jarrett could only dream about with his country singing.</p><p>

In the ring it was much closer than in the charts. Both men went toe to toe, the hatred of each other plain to see. Both men were close to winning the match on a few occasion and it was ended in 17:56 with Jarrett winning by submission with a Figure-Four Leglock. <strong>78</strong></p><p>

The two have great chemistry and it showed in their performance.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/GenericTagTeam02_zpsa9f639bc.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>PSW NATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

CM Punk & Colt Cabana (champions) v Cade Thesz & Rob Van Dam</strong></p><p>

Champions versus Crowning Glory Tag Team Series winners.</p><p>

The match was excellent as the show keeps getting better and better, with the wrestlers involved in each match seemingly trying to top those before them (though not always succeeding). These four talented grappler's certainly did.</p><p>

This time last year Colt Cabana left CM Punk to compete in Japan when they were the Crowning Glory Tag Team Series winners and should have challenged for the titles. This time they were defending champions and Colt put in a shift and a half, coming back from certain defeat on half a dozen occasions. He got the hot tag to CM Punk who started to clear house, only to be put on his ass by a double spin kick from Thesz and Van Dam. This gave the challengers control and they never let it go again, sealing victory in 21:43 when Rob Van Dam defeated CM Punk by pinfall with a Frog Splash. Cade Thesz & Rob Van Dam win the PSW National Tag Team Championship titles and Cade Thesz now only needs to win the National Championship to be the first Grand Slam winner since the Youth Championship was introduced. (AJ Styles and CM Punk won the Grand Slam before the Youth Championship was created). <strong>81</strong></p><p>

Eight wins out of eight for the new champions.</p><p>

<strong>Adam Copeland v Lance Storm</strong></p><p>

A match hyped as the Battle of Canada. Can they live up to the hype and top the previous match? Yes they could.</p><p>

What a brilliant match. Storm's slow, methodical approach was great foil to Copeland's faster more riskier offence and the two contrasting styles made for an even, entertaining match that lasted close to half an hour.</p><p>

Both men made hugely impressive starts to their PSW careers. Lance though has halted somewhat as he has hit a sticky patch. The two combatants' form continued in their current vein as Copeland won the Battle of Canada in 28:51 by pinfall with a Missile Dropkick. <strong>87</strong></p><p>

Adam Copeland is improving in technical skills.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic11_zps25f9747a.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>PSW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong>

Chris Jericho (champion) v AJ Styles</strong></p><p>

Former friends and partners, Jericho recently attacked AJ and their mutual respect is simmering at best while their friendship has well and truly gone.</p><p>

What an absolutely outstanding match. It lasted nearly three quarters of an hour and not once did it get boring or even remotely close to it. The in ring action was excellent throughout and it even topped the awesome Crowning Glory VII main event between AJ Styles and Matt Sydal. This time, and for the first time out of three, AJ Styles was unable to win the National Championship having won the Crowning Glory Series.</p><p>

It wasn't for not hitting Jericho with everything he had. Styles hit three Styles Clashes, one Spinal Tap and even locked Jericho in the Lion Tamer at one point, but Jericho somehow, some way managed to stay in the match each time.</p><p>

The end started five minutes or so before it actually came. With the match nearly forty minutes old, Jericho put Styles in the Lion Tamer for a second time. AJ tried to reach the ropes but when he got close Jericho pulled him back to the middle of the ring. AJ tried to escape the agonising hold but Jericho sinched it in harder. AJ refused to tap out, and the pain on his face was becoming unbearable. Eventually he passed out which left referee Wes Adams to lift AJ's arm. It dropped once… twice… and a third time. AJ was out and that was it. Jericho won a classic in 44:13 by submission with a Lion Tamer. Chris Jericho makes defence number 5 of his PSW National Championship title.</p><p>

The crowd were on their feet and gave a standing ovation to both men. Jericho held his championship belt and looked down at the prone AJ, who was just beginning to come back round. Jericho helped AJ back up and gave him a hug, which AJ reciprocated. Their mutual respect was back and the crowd loved every second. <strong>99 – match of the night</strong></p><p>

The two have great chemistry and it showed in their performances.</p><p>

Chris Jericho has won his last nine matches.</p><p> </p><p>
