Nobby_McDonald
<p>PRE SHOW</p><p> In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Desperate Measures defeated Christian York & Joey Matthews in 7:51 when Aaron Stevens defeated Joey Matthews by pinfall. <strong>57</strong></p><p> In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Keiji Sakoda defeated Alex Wright in 10:14 by submission. <strong>54</strong></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR67Qdzeqa04f8k5YC4laxj3CHVm_4a4Vt2hqGyA_En8U4SyW22" data-src="https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR67Qdzeqa04f8k5YC4laxj3CHVm_4a4Vt2hqGyA_En8U4SyW22" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong>Jeopardy</strong></p><p> Sunday, week 2, </p><p> Beard-Eaves Coliseum, Auburn, Alabama</p><p> <img alt="images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHSBdNf4F4P4eLNfqAf_yNWtEwW9pU7F5gI7xMzg48bAqiVVBW" data-src="https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHSBdNf4F4P4eLNfqAf_yNWtEwW9pU7F5gI7xMzg48bAqiVVBW" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Broadcast live on psw.com</p><p> Announcers: Potter & Dusty Rhodes</p><p> </p><p> <strong>GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE THIRD DIVISION</strong></p><p><strong> Eddie Edwards (2-0-2) v Jay Lethal (2-0-2)</strong></p><p> A good opening match helped by the two sharing some great chemistry. Edwards proved to be too good for his adversary on this night and took the contest in 8:46 by submission. <strong>60</strong></p><p> Jay Lethal is improving in rumble skills.</p><p> </p><p> Chris Benoit speaks from backstage. He says that he is willing to risk his entire career to try and win the National Championship and he sees it as a risk worth taking. <strong>63</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic04_zpsownldjao.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong> Kevin Steen (champion) v Roderick Strong</strong></p><p> A superb match between two guys who on this evidence could be the future of PSW in years to come. Steen is dominant as Youth champion and while Strong was a very strong opponent, Steen retained again in 13:23 by pinfall with a F-Cinq. Kevin Steen makes defence number 15 of his PSW Youth Championship title. <strong>76</strong></p><p> Roderick Strong is improving in rumble skills.</p><p> </p><p> Jeff Jarrett is backstage, playing his guitar quite badly. He says his guitar means everything to him, but says winning the National Championship means more. <strong>69</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/GenericTagTeam02_zpsa9f639bc.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>PSW NATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong> Spanish Announce Team (champions) v Londrick</strong></p><p> Another match high in quality as former champions and the current champions took to the air in battle. The current champions got the better of the aerial assault in 13:02 when Joel Maximo defeated Paul London by pinfall with a Spanish Fly. Spanish Announce Team make defence number 4 of their PSW National Tag Team Championship titles. <strong>71</strong></p><p> Jose Maximo is improving in rumble skills.</p><p> Spanish Announce Team have won their last seven matches.</p><p> </p><p> John Cena is next to speak about the Jeopardy main event. He says that the TV Title briefcase is a near certain championship win but he is willing to put it on the line to win the big one. <strong>72</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Eiji Ezaki v Randy Orton</strong></p><p> Potentially a big match but it turned out to be a little disappointing, thanks in part to a poor showing from Eiji Ezaki. Despite his under performance, he still managed to defeat the former National champion in 13:49 by pinfall with a Phoenix Splash. <strong>64</strong></p><p> Eiji Ezaki has won his last nine matches.</p><p> </p><p> Chris Jericho is last to talk about the main event. He says he has the most to lose, the National Championship but it is fun watching three desperate men put something they cherish on the line to try and win it from him. <strong>83</strong></p><p> Chris Jericho enjoyed going off script and performed well.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION</strong></p><p><strong> Colt Cabana (4-0-0) v Lance Storm (4-0-0)</strong></p><p> A decent match that went back and forth between the two Second Division pace setters. It was the Canadian former National champion who came up trumps in 12:27 by submission with a Canadian Maple Leaf. <strong>69</strong></p><p> Colt Cabana's win streak ends at six.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION</strong></p><p><strong> Austin Aries (1-0-3) v Rob Van Dam (4-0-1)</strong></p><p> A tremendous match and one where Aries caused RVD a lot more trouble than many expected he would, including gaining near three counts after a 450 Splash and again a Brainbuster. RVD pulled through, just, and chalked up another win in 10:31 by pinfall with a Frog Splash. <strong>83</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>GRAPPLER'S LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION</strong></p><p><strong> AJ Styles (1-1-2) v CM Punk (3-0-1)</strong></p><p> Chemistry and psychology, two branches of science. Of the first, there was lots and it lifted the contest. Of the latter there was a lack of it and it hurt the match. Maybe the mad scientist in “The Prototype” could work out the equation but not me.</p><p> In terms of the match it was very even, with a couple of near falls for each combatant. However, the time limit was approaching fast and the two men were stood slugging it out in the ring as the bell rang for a twenty minutes time limit draw. <strong>73</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac78/Nobby_McDonald/Generic11_zps25f9747a.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>JEOPARDY MATCH FOR THE PSW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP</strong></p><p><strong> Chris Jericho (champion) v Chris Benoit (risking his career) v Jeff Jarrett (risking his guitar) v John Cena (risking his TV Title briefcase)</strong></p><p> At ringside on a table are placed the National Championship belt, a pink slip representing Benoit's career, Jarrett's guitar and the TV Title briefcase.</p><p> The match was great and long. Entertaining throughout with lots and lots of near falls for all – some being broken up by another competitor and others with a kick out barely before three. With something on the line for everyone, nobody wanted to lose and dug deep not to.</p><p> It had to end at some point and this came well after half an hour had surpassed. Chris Jericho retained in 38:47 when he defeated John Cena by submission with a Lion Tamer. Chris Jericho makes defence number 13 of his PSW National Championship title and John Cena loses his TV Title briefcase. <strong>92 – match of the night</strong></p><p> Chris Jericho is improving in rumble skills.</p><p> Chris Jericho has won his last seven matches.</p><p> </p><p> Following the match, Adam Copeland comes to the ring. He carries his National Championship briefcase and holds up the TV Title briefcase. He laughs at John Cena before dropping it to the floor. He then teases cashing in his own briefcase before shaking his head and saying not tonight. <strong>72</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Show rating: B+ 86</strong></p><p> PSW has increased in popularity in the South East.</p><p> Attendance: 10,500 (sell out, second highest in PSW history)</p><p> Profit: $164,730</p><p> </p><p> Jeopardy was the sixth best show in PSW history.</p><p> The Jeopardy match was the seventh best in PSW history.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> QUICK RESULTS</p><p> Chris Jericho won Jeopardy, defeating John Cena to retain the National Championship</p><p> AJ Styles drew with CM Punk in Grappler's League Premier Division</p><p> Rob Van Dam beat Austin Aries in Grappler's League First Division</p><p> Lance Storm beat Colt Cabana in Grappler's League Second Division</p><p> Eiji Ezaki beat Randy Orton</p><p> Spanish Announce Team beat Londrick to retain the National Tag Team Championship</p><p> Kevin Steen beat Roderick Strong to retain the Youth Championship</p><p> Eddie Edwards beat Jay Lethal in Grappler's League Third Division</p><p> Keiji Sakoda beat Alex Wright (pre show)</p><p> Desperate Measures beat Christian York & Joey Matthews (pre show)</p>
