GRAPPLER’S LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION RELEGATION PLAYOFF

Loser of the fall is relegated

Caprice Coleman v Davey Richards v Super Dragon

A tense opening match where relegation hung over the match like a dark cloud, which came about as the three men have identical records in the Grappler’s League Second Division and also in the tie breaker mini league between themselves. This has led to the playoff where the loser fills the other relegation spot along with James Storm. The match was slower paced than you would normally expect as none of the men wanted to make a mistake that would cause them to drop to the Third Division of the Grappler’s League.

Caprice Coleman has been on a little roll recently in PSW. His performances and results have both picked up and it continued in 10:52 when Caprice Coleman defeated Davey Richards by pinfall with a Thermal Shock. When Richards came back round, he looked very disappointed to be relegated.50

Chris Jericho is in the backstage interview area. ‘The Greatest Champion’ talks about Top of the World, saying he is going to win tonight and start his road back to the Continental Championship… by any means necessary. 73

Chris Jericho was masterful improvising.

PSW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Eddie Kingston (champion) v Marty Scurll

The Youth Championship is by definition for the young, rising stars of PSW and because of this the matches haven’t always been the most enthralling. This time was different though and showed the youngsters can put on a really good, entertaining match.

Marty Scurll has fairly recently been the TV champion, a prestigious title in PSW and one he lost a few weeks ago to the current champion Austin Aries. He was going to be a tough test for the current Youth champion Eddie Kingston and many felt he was the slight favourite going into the match.

However, things didn’t turn out as Scurll had hoped, as it was Kingston who was able to retain in 12:20 by pinfall. Eddie Kingston makes defence number 5 of his PSW Youth Championship title. 66

Eddie Kingston is improving in performances skills.

PSW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Amazing Kong (champion, with Adam Sandler) v Gail Kim

Having never been champion, this is Gail Kim’s first title shot in around 18 months and she was determined to make the most of it even though she was facing the much bigger champion.

Kim took the fight to Kong, going toe to toe with Kong and having more success doing so than most women that Kong has faced. Kong’s size and strength was too much in the end for the gallant challenger, with defeat coming for Kim in 10:39 by pinfall. Amazing Kong makes defence number 4 of her PSW Women's Championship title. 49

Gail Kim is improving in rumble skills.

Amazing Kong has won her last 8 matches.

Immediately following the match, Joanie Laurer makes her way to the ring. She climbs into a PSW ring for the first time and stands face to face with Kong. The two stare each other down as the crowd roar. Meanwhile, in the back of the shot, Adam Sandler looks like he has seen a ghost. 36

Joanie Laurer has debuted with an Equality Fighter gimmick, rated 49.

GRAPPLER’S LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION

Aaron Stevens (1-0-6) v ‘The Follower’ John Cena (4-0-3, with Raven)

Stevens has struggled in the Grappler’s League this season and tonight was no exception. Cena took quite a comfortable victory in 9:39 by pinfall with a Spin-out powerbomb. 67

Aaron Stevens is improving in technical skills.

TOP OF THE WORLD

Winner receives Continental Championship match at Championship Fight Night XI

‘The Greatest Champion’ Chris Jericho v ‘The Outlaw’ Roderick Strong (with Eddie Guerrero) v Randy Orton v ‘The Perfectionist’ Jimmy Yang v Rocky Romero v Keiji Sakoda

In previous years, the Top of the World match has been for the main title in PSW. This year though it is to determine the number one contender for the Continental Championship. It is also traditionally a tight affair. However this time Rocky Romero never scored a pinfall to become eligible to hang the contract clipboard and spend six minutes of the match in the penalty box. Roderick Strong also spent four minutes in there and only late on became eligible to win.

Jericho was eligible first, trapping Romero in the Lion Tamer after only two and a half minutes.

Yang soon followed when he piined Strong after around four minutes after a Yang Time.

Randy Orton put Romero back in the box on seven minutes after an RKO and then around thirty seconds later Jericho was surprisingly put in there at the hands of Keiji Sakoda. When Orton repeated an RKO on Strong only moments later, there were three men in the penalty box for just over a minute. Yang, Orton and Sakoda in the ring couldn’t hang the contract, while Jericho was talking tactics with Romero and Strong. By any means necessary…

When the three had all been released, they started to work together, fighting off the other three wrestlers. This led to Jericho extracting a little revenge courtesy of a Lion Sault on Sakoda to pin him. However, Jericho couldn’t make the three on two advantage count to hang the contract.

Strong eventually earned eligibility after fourteen and a half minutes by breaking the pact and pining Rocky Romero. This incensed Jericho, who launched Strong from the ring into the side of the penalty box, knocking it over with Romero still in it. With Yang and Sakoda fighting on the opposite side of the arena floor, Jericho took care of Orton with a missile drop kick with contract in hang, before scaling the ladder to hang the contract in 15:08. 68

Roderick Strong is improving in rumble skills.

Keiji Sakoda is improving in technical skills.

Chris Jericho has won his last 8 matches.

PSW CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

The Outlaws (champions, with Eddie Guerrero) v Londrick

The Outlaws won the titles last month at Anniversary Show X from the now broken up To Kijar, With Love. This was their first defence and it was pretty routine. Londrick were not easy opponents, but Red and Daniels got the job done without the need for any interference or distractions from the other Outlaws, like can happen in their big matches. The champions retained in 14:44 when Amazing Red defeated Brian Kendrick by pinfall with a Code Red. The Outlaws make defence number 1 of their PSW Continental Tag Team Championship titles. 69

Londrick become the first tag team in PSW to have 100 matches, winning 59 of them.

Cade Thesz speaks from a safe house. He is not with his other Outlaws. He says Kevin Steen has been victimised by The Outlaws because that’s what Outlaws do… and tonight Steen will victimised in the ring when this Outlaw keeps the Continental Championship. 66

Cade Thesz has switched to an Outside Threat gimmick, rated 49.

Matt Sydal v ‘Teen Idol’ T. J. Perkins

This is the revenge match following the public break up of former Continental Tag Team champions Everybody expected a fast paced match and they got that, but what was also on show was a level of aggression rarely displayed by either man. The two went tooth and nail with some stiff shots and kicks.

The Following have been courting T. J. Perkins to join them since the To Kijar, With Love break up and many expected them to show up here, seemingly TJP did too. However, they didn’t for a while. With Perkins a little distracted Matt Sydal was taking advantage before Raven eventually appeared to distracted Matt Sydal. Bruce Gray was in the process to ejecting Raven when Bray Wyatt and John Cena ran in. Sydal nailed Wyatt, but Cena hit Sydal with a Sit Down Power Bomb. This allowed Perkins to win in 18:27 by submission. 73

GRAPPLER’S LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

CM Punk (3-1-4) v ‘Highlight Reel’ Rob Van Dam (2-1-4)

A good match with a high number of kicks featuring throughout. The winner of this still has a chance of qualifying for the Crowning Glory Series, the loser does not. It was the veteran Van Dam who took the spoils in 18:25 by pinfall with a Frog Splash. 73

PSW CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

‘The Outlaw’ Cade Thesz (champion, with Eddie Guerrero) v ‘Grand Slam’ Kevin Steen

Thesz took the title from Steen last month at Anniversary Show X. This is Steen’s rematch to take it back. And it was the best match of the night by some way.

Unlike last month, Steen is healthy. Last time round, he had suffered a number of beatings at the hands of The Outlaws. This time he is in much better shape and with regaining the title on his mind.

Thesz meanwhile says he is living his destiny. Grandson of the late, great Lou Thesz, he is developing into a star in his own right and winning the Continental Championship has taken him to the next level. Will he keep it?

It was a close contest throughout with both men scoring a number of near falls. Eddie Guerrero provided distractions a couple of times that Thesz took advantage of, that was until Kevin Steen clocked him with a stiff right.

In the end, the champion was able to keep hold of his belt in 23:06 by submission. Cade Thesz makes defence number 1 of his PSW Continental Championship title. Thesz celebrates with Guerrero. Steen is left to reflect being a former champion, the only Grand Slam winner in PSW and his next chance to get the belt back will be by winning the Crowning Glory Series. 85 – match of the night

Kevin Steen has switched to a Blue Collar gimmick, rated 72.

Cade Thesz has won his last 13 matches.
