<em>- Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty got into a bit of a tiff last week at the Superstars tapings, as Jannetty was angry at Michaels over something Michaels had said behind his back. <em>The WWF will present Saturday Night's Main Event, airing on the USA Network for the first time. With two title matches and a huge tag main event, it promises to be a memorable evening.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Sgt. Slaughter & "Macho King" Randy Savage w/Sensational Queen Sherri & General Adnan vs. Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The so-called Ultimate Alliance has been formed out of necessity, to combat the growing threat of Sgt. Slaughter's Iraqi Turncoat faction to the WWF. However Slaughter has been recruiting allies as well, garnering the support (if only in body) of the Macho King as he is pursuing his own goal of the WWF Title held by the Warrior. Will the Ultimate Alliance be enough to stand up to Slaughter & Savage, or will they crumble under the onslaught of this continued assault?</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>WWF Intercontinental Title Match</strong></p><p><strong>

Mr. Perfect w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan © vs. Big Bossman</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Bossman's quest to destroy the Heenan family reaches its apex, as Mr. Perfect and his Intercontinental Title are the crown jewel of the Family. Heenan will desperately do anything to maintain the gold that his prized employee has cornered the market on, but the law and order man from Cobb County has overcome all of his shenanigans in the past, and if he does so again he will take the prestigious title in the process.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>WWF Tag Team Title Match</strong></p><p><strong>

The Rockers © vs. The Nasty Boys w/Jimmy Hart</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Since winning the belts at the Royal Rumble, The Rockers have been riding high. But they will face their toughest challenge to date against the nastiest team in the WWF, who will stop at nothing to bring the gold back to Nastyville USA. Following a pinfall victory by Knobbs over Jannetty in a six-man tag match, it could very well be that the Nasties have the Rockers number.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Power and Glory w/Slick vs. The Legion of Doom</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In other tag team action, the Legion of Doom has continued to run roughshot through every team they've faced, and the team standing in their way now are the stalwart veterans of Roma and Hercules. It's been rumored that the winners of this match will be the next ones in line for a tag title shot, maybe even earning a chance at the gold at Wrestlemania VII.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The British Bulldog vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Two longtime competitors squaring off for both respect and for moving up the rankings. It's not lost on WWF fans that the winner of this match could be in line for the #1 contendership to the Intercontinental Championship as well, but either way it's going to be a fantastic match between two of the best athletes in the federation.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer vs. Tugboat</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>If size does matter, than Tugboat will be the toughest challenge to the undefeated Undertaker that the Deadman has yet to face. Taker has conquered everyone else who has stood against him though, but one has to wonder if the pending announcement by Andre the Giant might be on Taker and Paul Bearer's mind...and what plans to they exactly have for the Eighth Wonder of the World?</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Capt. Abdullah w/General Adnan vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The latest recruit into Sgt. Slaughter's Iraqi Corps, Capt. Abdullah may be the most fearsome weapon the turncoat has to offer. Naturally, the All-American Duggan has stepped up to the plate to try and counter this new player on the scene.</em></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Irwin R. Schyster vs. Koko B. Ware</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>It's not too far off from tax season, and Irwin is out to make sure everyone pays up, even the Birdman. But Koko's a hard man to catch...maybe he can finally clip the wings of IRS.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Plus Andre the Giant is set to make a huge announcement, Jake "The Snake" Roberts has a challenge for "The Model", and Virgil will respond to the threat of a lawsuit by the Million Dollar Man.</strong></p>

<strong>Match #1: The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer vs. Tugboat</strong></p><p>

<em>These two impressive behemoths squared off to kick things off at Saturday Night's Main Event, but quickly it became apparent that despite the big man's girth, The Undertaker's mix of agility and strength was a nearly unbeatable combination. Tugboat did rally near the end, actually managing to get the Deadman onto the ground for his patented big splash. But Undertaker sat up out of the way, before finishing off the sea captain with a flying clothesline from the top rope.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner by pinfall: The Undertaker</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Backstage, Bobby Heenan is standing by with Mr. Perfect, as the both of them run down the Big Bossman once more. Bossman may have made it through Haku & The Barbarian, but Mr. Perfect is an animal of an entirely different sort, and nothing will stop the crown jewel of the Heenan Family from walking out with the gold.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #2: WWF Tag Team Championship- The Rockers © vs. The Nasty Boys w/Jimmy Hart</strong></p><p>

<em>The Nasty Boys jumped the champs as they were entering the ring, trying to get an early advantage on the high fliers. Knobbs and Sags dominated the early going, but the tag team specialty of the champs allowed them to survive the onslaught and quickly turn the tide. Once the tempo of the match picked up, the Nasties couldn't keep up with the Rockers, allowing Michaels and Jannetty to eventually nail a rocket launcher to score the pinfall victory and retain the titles.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winners by pinfall and STILL WWF Tag Team Champions: The Rockers</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Backstage Jake "The Snake" Roberts is standing by with Sean Mooney. Jake says that he's been hunting and stalking the Model Rick Martel for months now, and that he's finally cornered his prey. Roberts says he's gone to WWF President Jack Tunney and managed to get a match that he's wanted...a one-on-one encounter with Rick Martel in a leather strap match.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

We cut back to ringside where Gene Okerlund is standing by, as he welcomes the Eighth Wonder of the World, Andre the Giant as his guest. Gene says that there have been rumors about a big announcement Andre has to make, and Andre says that its true. After twenty years in the ring, the doctors have said that the toll on his body has become too much. Andre says he loves to compete, but that he just can't keep up anymore. He's had a good run, but all good things must come to an end. </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Unfortunately this brings out The Undertaker and Paul Bearer. Paul accuses Andre of "dodging" the "true Phenom of the World Wrestling Federation." The two giants merely stare at one another, neither backing down. Suddenly Undertaker pushes Andre, which causes Andre to push back, instantly knocking down the younger Deadman. From behind though Paul Bearer takes the urn and clips the knee of the Giant, causing him to stumble forward. Undertaker gets back to his feet and hits a hard uppercut to the throat, before shockingly bodyslamming the Giant on the concrete floor. Undertaker and Paul Bearer leave, as medical personnel tend to Andre.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #3: Irwin R. Schyster vs. Koko B. Ware</strong></p><p>

<em>The Taxman was in full force as he went after the Birdman. Koko's high flying offense was grounded by the humdrum technical expertise of Irwin, who dominated the match for the most part, finishing off Koko with a flying clothesline called the Write-Off.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner by pinfall: Irwin R. Schyster</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Backstage Lord Alfred Hayes is with the Macho King and Sgt. Slaughter, who hype their main event match tonight with Hulk Hogan and WWF Champion The Ultimate Warrior. Both men say that the Ultimate Alliance will die tonight as both of them march on to their respective matches at Wrestlemania.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #4: Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs. The British Bulldog</strong></p><p>

<em>Two of the best wrestlers in the WWF squared off in the best match of the night, as each one left it all on the line in this jockeying for position. It was rumored that the winner of the match might be in line at a shot at Mr. Perfect's title at somepoint in the near future, and after a back and forth matchup that saw several near falls, Bret Hart was able to score a victory with a victory roll off the top rope.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner by pinfall: Bret "The Hitman" Hart</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #5: Capt. Abdullah w/General Adnan vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan</strong></p><p>

<em>The Butcher of Baghdad, as he is coloquially known, Capt. Abdullah faced his stiffest challenge in the All-American from Glens Falls. Duggan did his country proud, standing toe to toe with the much larger and much more fearsome foe, but Abdullah eventually scored a victory via knockout, causing Duggan to pass out after locking in a modified Asiatic Spike that blacked out Hacksaw.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner by Submission: Capt. Abdullah</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roddy Piper is next up as he hosts a special edition of Piper's Pit, with his guest The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. Piper says that DiBiase seems to be minus one bodyguard in recent weeks, but the Million Dollar Man says that will quickly be rectified, he says that Virgil has a contract with DiBiase, and that if Virgil doesn't honor that contract, then DiBiase will sue him for everything he's worth. Virgil comes out to ringside, somewhat forlorn and resigned to his fate. DiBiase laughs again, but Virgil grabs the microphone and says he's not going away that easy. He says that he has spoken with WWF President Jack Tunney, and the President has temporarily suspended the contract between DiBiase and Virgil pending a match at Wrestlemania. If DiBiase wins, then Virgil will resume his employment with DiBiase and will never wrestle again in the WWF. If Virgil wins though, then Virgil is free. DiBiase grimaces, but turns right around and laughs while walking away, saying that Virgil doesn't stand a chance against him. Virgil replies with a smirk that he wasn't finished...if Virgil wins...then not only is he free, but DiBiase will become Virgil's servant for thirty days!</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #6: Power and Glory w/Slick vs. The Legion of Doom</strong></p><p>

<em>Much as it was with the Bulldog/Hart match, this match was viewed as a pseudo #1 contenders match for the tag team titles. LOD dominated the match for much of its run time, seemingly, and as they prepared to finish off Pretty Paul Roma with a Doomsday Device, they seemed poised to continue their run to the top. Unfortunately, The Nasty Boys decided to stick their ugly nose in the match. The distraction allowed Hercules to come from behind and drill Animal in the back. Hawk came to his partner's aid, but the referee's distraction allowed Slick to sneak in and drill Hawk with Hercules' chain. Roma crawled over and scored the huge upset victory thanks in part to the Nasty Boys.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winners by Pinfall: Power and Glory</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #7: WWF Intercontinental Title- Mr. Perfect w/Bobby Heenan © vs. The Big Bossman</strong></p><p>

<em>Bossman's run through the Heenan Family seemed to hit a roadblock at Mr. Perfect, as the Intercontinental Champion used every dirty trick in the book to stall the lawman. Early on it appeared as if Perfect was trying to intentionally get disqualified, but an opening appeared when Heenan distracted the referee, allowing Perfect to nail Bossman with his own nightstick in the ribs that Haku and The Barbarian had hurt on a recent episode of Superstars. Perfect's technical execution was flawless, as usual, and despite Bossman rallying near the end, Perfect was able to exploit his injured ribs and score another victory with his Perfect-Plex to continue the role he's been on.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner by pinfall and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Mr. Perfect</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match #8: Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior vs. "Macho King" Randy Savage & Sgt. Slaughter w/Sensational Queen Sherri & General Adnan</strong></p><p>

<em>The four titans of the WWF engaged in an all-out war that, at times, was difficult for the official to try and keep a hold of. General Adnan was rather liberal in his attempts at interference, but ultimately it was a miscommunication between Savage and Slaughter that would lead to their downfall, as Savage inadvertently hit Slaughter with a double axehandle from the top. The Warrior eventually pinned Slaughter with his Press Slam, running splash finishing combo, as the Alliance scores a big victory in this war.</em></p><p>

<strong>Winners by Pinfall: Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>After the match, Savage slinks off to the back, while Warrior and Hogan celebrate in the ring as the show comes to a close.</em></p>

<em>- There was a lot of strong feelings of success following Saturday Night's Main Event, which went off without a hitch. Folks seem to be really happy with how the main event in particular was achieved, and despite getting gassed near the end, The British Bulldog put on a good show with Bret Hart.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- Officials were uncertain if Andre would in fact be able to wrestle at Wrestlemania (the retirement angle is kayfabe only) or at the very least perform in a tag match. Unfortunately his aggravated back injury (combined with a dismal performance in a dark match on Superstars) leads many to believe that it's best he be left off the card. A storyline is being rewritten to accomodate that, where it's likely Andre will simply be in a representative's corner against The Undertaker.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- Former WWF Champion Bob Backlund has been signed by the company, citing a lack of strong midcard faces. British star Steven Regal has also been signed to a contract.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Match #1: Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka vs. The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer

Fresh off of his attack on Andre the Giant at Saturday Night's Main Event, The Undertaker looked to cement his status as the "New Phenom" of the WWF by facing the so-called old phenom. Snuka gave it everything he had, throwing himself at the deadman with reckless abandon. But Taker's speed and strength were more than a match for the veteran, and Taker defeated Snuka with a Tombstone Piledriver in a relatively easy match.

Winner by Pinfall: The Undertaker

Backstage we are joined by an unusual sight, Gene Okerlund standing next to a hobbled Andre the Giant, his leg in a cast and crutches strapped around his arms. Gene comments on Andre's apparent retirement from in-ring competition, and asks again if he will answer the Undertaker's challenge. Andre says that he would love nothing more than to get in the ring one more time and take out The Undertaker, but his body just won't let him. Thankfully, however, he has found the one man in the WWF who will stand by him, and show the Undertaker and Paul Bearer the meaning of justice. Enter The Big Bossman, nightstick in hand, who quickly issues a challenge to the Deadman for Wrestlemania.

Match #2: WWF Intercontinental Title Match- Mr. Perfect © w/Bobby Heenan vs. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart

In response to the challenge by Bret Hart for his Intercontinental Title, Mr. Perfect was happy to put the belt on the line against his brother-in-law and tag partner, Jim Neidhart. A cocky Mr. Perfect underestimated the Anvil though, and on a couple of occasions Neidhart came within a hair's breadth of upsetting the champion. Perfect eventually became unhinged at the success that Neidhart was having, and delivered a deliberate low blow that got himself disqualified.

Winner by Disqualification: Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart

After the match, Mr. Perfect started putting the boots to the Anvil, which resulted in Bret Hart coming down to his former tag partner's aid. The two men simply stared at each other after the match, the tension mounting.

Backstage The British Bulldog is standing by with Sean Mooney. The Bulldog says that for the last few weeks, ever since he eliminated him at the Royal Rumble, Earthquake has been making his life miserable, and Davey Boy isn't going to stand for it any longer. He challenges Earthquake to a match at Wrestlemania VII.

Match #3: The Rockers & Saba Simba vs. Power and Glory & The Warlord w/Slick

Slick's trio of n'er do wells stacked up well against the tag champs and Saba Simba, ahead of the collision between Power and Glory and The Rockers at Wrestlemania. Saba Simba proved to be the weak link in the matchup, as Slick's trio isolated him for much of the match, once Jannetty and Michaels tagged in though the odds were even. Still, after some chicanery by Slick, Hercules managed to score the pinfall on Saba to pick up a measure of success against the champions.

Winners by pinfall: Power and Glory & The Warlord

Match #4: Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Macho King" Randy Savage w/Sensational Queen Sherri

In what was a very technically sound match, Savage and Roberts were more than a match for one another. It was unfortunate then that the match ended as it did, as The Ultimate Warrior made his way to ringside and chased off Savage, while Rick Martel appeared out of the crowd and blindsided Roberts with a shot from a steel chair. Officially the match ended in a No Contest, but the interesting thing was Martel making off with the bag which contained Damien while Roberts was knocked out.

Winner: No Contest

Match #5: Hulk Hogan vs. Earthquake w/Jimmy Hart

In revisiting an old foe, Hulk looked ready to make war on a new one in Sgt Slaughter. Earthquake proved to be as tough an adversary as he ever was, but in the end Hulkamania proved to be too much as Hogan slammed the walking Natural Disaster and managed to hit the big legdrop for the victory.

<em>- A decision has been made to add a new title to the WWF roster, the WWF Television Title which will be defended every week on one of the many TV programs the WWF has. This will be a midcard title mainly, and a tournament has been set up to crown the inaugural champion at Wrestlemania.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- The Ultimate Warrior's reign as champion may be coming to an end sooner rather than later, as he was hit with a positive drug test this week. It's unknown if this will affect plans for Wrestlemania (where he will defend the title against Randy Savage), but he is probably wrestling on borrowed time as the champion.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- As expected, the Honky Tonk Man was not offered a contract extension and will be released following the end of the month. There was a brief bidding war between WCW and the WWF for Roddy Piper, but WCW quickly dropped out when they realized they couldn't match WWF's star power.</em></p><p> </p><p>

I'm eager to get to Wrestlemania, and beyond. Given the predictable nature of these early WWF TV cards, forgive me if the matches are a bit on the short side.

tumblr_static_filename_640_v2.jpg

Razor Ramon d. Shane Douglas by pinfall with the Razor's Edge. Ramon advances in the WWF Television Title Tournament.

A vignette is shown for Sir Steven Regal, the Gentleman Grappler, who will be coming to the World Wrestling Federation very soon.

The Million Dollar Man cuts a promo on his former employee, Virgil, saying that at Wrestlemania, Virgil will be forced to rejoin him and that DiBiase will have even more humiliating tasks cooked up for his erstwhile bodyguard. DiBiase ignores the prospect that, if he loses, then he will have to be Virgil's servant for a month.

Tito Santana d. The Mountie by disqualification after Jimmy Hart interfered with the stun stick. Santana advances in the WWF Television Title Tournament.

Bobby Heenan cuts a pre-recorded promo with Mr. Perfect, giving a rundown of the upcoming Intercontinental Title Defense against Bret Hart at Wrestlemania.

The Million Dollar Man d. Bret "The Hitman" Hart by pinfall with a schoolboy pin after Mr. Perfect came down to ringside and distracted him.

Shawn Michaels d. Paul Roman by pinfall with a Crescent Kick.

Rick Martel is interviewed by Gene Okerlund, and Martel has a smugger than usual look on his face. Martel not only has a title shot in just a few moments, but Gene has to ask the question of what Martel has done with Jake Robert's snake Damien. Martel says that he did what he should have done a long time ago...taken that snake and made a fine pair of brand new leather wrestling boots for himself. Martel snickers as Okerlund is apalled at the actions.

In center ring, the Iraqi trio of General Adnan, Sgt. Slaughter & Capt. Abdullah have made their presence known, holding an American flag in the middle of the ring. Slaughter cuts a scathing promo on Hogan, and proceeds to say that Hulkamania will burn, just like this flag will burn now. Naturally this brings Hogan to the ring, but the three on one odds are too much to really overcome and the Iraqi trio beat down Hogan, as Slaughter locks him in the Camel Clutch.

The Ultimate Warrior d. Rick "The Model" Martel by pinfall with a Press Slam to retain the WWF Title. After the match, Jake Roberts came out, furious, and started attacking Martel with reckless abandon before security came out to hold him back.

Meanwhile backstage as the Warrior heads to the back, he is attacked by Macho King Randy Savage, who hits him with a steel chair across the back several times. Savage continues putting the boots to the Warrior, before standing tall with the WWF Title in the air to close out the show.

- The rumors have been confirmed that Sherri Martel and Ray Traylor (the Big Bossman) are now in a relationship. There isn't expected to be an on-screen change to either of their characters to reflect this.

- The WWF will hold a special event in April in Germany, entitled International Incident.

- Barring any other incident, the Wrestlemania card is pretty much set in stone. There may be a battle royal added to the pre-show as a way of making sure all talent is represented in the show.

Hulk Hogan - There will definitely be some sort of attack afterwards.

Savage/Martel/Taker - Undertaker will not lose, not even via one of his partners being beaten.

Hercules - A win for Power.

IRS - Much bigger upside in having Mike as champ as opposed to Uncle Fred.

Jim Duggan - Because some more faces need to advance.

- It has been an active week in the contract department certainly. Word on the street is that Bobby Eaton has grown unhappy with his role in WCW, and the WWF was quick to offer him a contract. WCW has countered, but the decision is still in the air.

- If Eaton is signed, it may spell the end of the Heavenly Bodies as a team, as the WWF would be quick to pair up Eaton with his old Midnight Express partners Cornette and Stan Lane.

- Bret Hart's contract also came due, and though he hasn't resigned yet WCW hasn't tried to poach him away. His resigning is expected to happen smoothly.

- The one contract that may escape the WWF is that of Jimmy Snuka. The veteran is drawing a large salary and the WWF doesn't have much use for the Superfly, outside of using him to put over new talent. WCW meanwhile has given him a lucrative multi-year deal, it's being reported, so Snuka's second stint in the WWF may be nearing an end.

Undertaker - A huge win puts Taker over big, even if it's just by DQ or something.

Perfect/Haku/Barbarian/Earthquake - All of the face team could end up with good pushes, but the heels should take this one.

M$M - Snuka is definitely on the downswing, while Ted can still be big if you handle him right.

Razor Ramon

Tito Santana
