Ezekiel Trillion is in jail. Financial irregularities have caused the man who tried to save pro wrestling in America to inevitably be unable to save himself. 5 years in a cold, hard cell may not seem that much time, but the lasting damage he’s had on the wrestling industry could last generations.

 

A little dramatic, I hear you ask? Of course not. In the wake of the Trillion scandal, wrestling took a huge cultural hit, the AWF crumbled under the weight of the investigation, some of its bigger names walking off into pastures new. The biggest hit though came to the rest of the industry, athletic commissions in the US and Canada cracked down hard on big companies, causing them to cease trading for fear of their own investigations, reputations ruined by being mentioned in the same sentence. In Japan, criminal connections to companies, unfounded or not, meant a cease in trading in some of the longest serving members of the wrestling community. Contracts voided, livelihoods threatened. The rest of the world knew their industry and attendances could suffer without those global names making impacts.

 

And then it happened. Wrestling became unionized. For those that aren’t aware, wrestling had longed for a union, to make sure wrestlers were properly looked after, it had been talked about for years, Terry Thunder being the most likely to stop the term “independent contractor” but not being part of the process when he was needed most. In 2016, under the final act of Chaperone before he left the industry he set up WOUND (Wrestler’s Official Union for New Dramatics) in what may have been seen as a Kayfabe breaking moment, wrestlers were seen as sports entertainers, and with that a set of rules, regulations and companies. Backyard feds were shut down without the proper licenses, wrestling became something new, something people were proud to be part of because it gave enjoyment and gave back protection for workers. Though some shady names were still involved, where would wrestling go now history had been rewrote?

 

A draft was called, for any and all wrestlers signed up to the union became available to be signed written or otherwise, a brand new wrestling landscape was coming, are you ready to see where it goes?

 

This draft will use the incredible ThunderVerse DiamondVerse (link to thread here: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=536291)

 

1) Wrestling is in a state of shock. Chaperone’s LAST act in wrestling was to set up WOUND. For this draft, anyone set as Out Of The Business is just that, unable to be drafted.

 

2) Promotion popularity will be assessed on that of the 5 highest popularity in your home region. This means you could either end up with a strong national company or even an up and coming regional if you feel fit. There’s so much room for activities!

 

3) Use http://www.random.org/sform.html to assign a random order for promotions picking.

 

4) The draft will be over 50 rounds, with written contracts up to round 30 and companies able to drop out after anytime after round 30 if they so wish. However two things to note, 1 – ONCE A COMPANY LEAVES THE DRAFT THEY CAN’T RE-ENTER and 2 – YOU CAN’T SWAP A DRAFT PICK AFTER YOU’VE MADE IT.

 

5) Once a pick is made, the next person has 2 hours to make his selection. We will use time stamps on the posts. However, after round 15 that time will be shortened to 1 hour.

 

6) If someone is skipped for missing a selection, they can make their selection at anytime.

 

7) If you have been skipped three times then you will be automatically skipped for any future picks. Furthermore, I will begin looking for a replacement for you if this happens in order to ensure that the game keeps moving forward and the replacement does not lose out on potential picks.

 

8) The reason for so many draft picks, MYSTERY BOXES ARE BACK. Yes boxes that contain good or bad things for your promotion/prestige/workers/empty boxes.

 

I will put in the post below an updated version of Kobe1724's amazing draft box thread from my all time favourite draft (1997 draft on 2008 where Kaz Hayashi became the best worker in the world) and the reason I believe draft's on this board can be awesome.

 

There will be 200 mystery boxes and 20 Super Mystery Boxes (which include 1 negative and 1 positive or maybe not???) which can be picked at any time. Example of Box items:

- TV Deal

- PPV Deal

- Development territory

- Extra written contracts

- Extra PPA contracts

- Popularity Boost (For promotions OR Workers)

- Popularity Drop (For promotions)

- Skill Increase (for workers)

- Gain/Lose Money

- Gain/Lose Prestige

- Empty Boxes

 

Box items can be traded and used as bargaining tools to get wrestlers but all boxes in an owner’s possession at the end of the draft must be used.

 

You do not NEED to select any mystery boxes but by not selecting any boxes you may miss out on a wide range of benefits. Similarly, though less likely, not picking boxes may actually result in you being better off as other promotions could get largely negative results.

 

9) Staff will count as part of your 50 draft picks. You can choose to sign in your first 30 and have them exclusively or wait to share them.

 

10) This draft is implementing a home nation based quota. Too many times we see a number 1 draft pick of a Japanese icon with no pop in America being picked by a performance fed and screwing up the Japanese scene. That can still happen but not to so much effect. For all workers drafted, 80% need to be eligible to work in your home country with restrictions on. For the first 10 rounds, only workers eligible to work in your home region can be drafted by yourself. In game after the draft however, restrictions will be turned off to allow for that 20% to move freely as well as anyone else.

 

11) Once pop has been averaged, National companies will start with $10 million in the bank, Cult $5 million and so on and so forth, not taking into account any gain/lose money boxes. Prestige will start at 50% (again not taking into account gain/lose) and momentum at C+ (see gain/lose).

 

12) Trades are allowed and actively encouraged. All workers, staff and boxes are available to be traded in any way you see fit. Trades will not be completed unless all players involved have confirmed the trade to me, and if there is any doubt then my word is final. You can confirm by other PM or by posts in the draft topic, but both parties must confirm.

 

The best method would be via PM although the forum would be fine too. Once a trade is confirmed by both sides then it is final and cannot be undone.

 

13) Changing a worker's active roles. I will be allowing each player the chance to change 1 retired wrestler OR 1 on hiatus wrestler each, back into an active worker. Their stats will not be changed however, only their preferred role and wrestling style. This ability can be traded if you wish to do so.

 

14) All the contract information is being set to the following guidelines:

 

- Random Expiry date

- Alignment set to your choice

- Gimmick set to match alignment and last turned 1 year ago.

- Gimmick rating of Average and New

- Momentum set to neutral

 

If information isn’t sent to sort gimmick alignment/face/heel etc it will be set to their strongest and generic data. If anyone wants to add Creative Control etc into any of their contracts, then you can (though some of you may not have the choice).

 

15) You can select anyone you have drafted to be your owner/booker when the time comes, but a person can only own one promotion in the game and book one promotion in the game (1 of each). So if you haven't drafted your owner/booker to a written deal then when you draft them to a PPA deal you should probably announce that you are making them your owner/booker in order to avoid them being stolen from under you. First come, first served is the policy here. As per the rules of WOUND, promotions need to either be lifetime or purchased ownership, no CEO’s and no companies the property of any media groups.

 

16) All events will be set to have a default event importance of "normal". All promotions are entitled to elevate the prestige of any 1 events by two levels (up to Highly Regarded) or any 2 events up by one level (up to Above Average). This CAN be traded to other promotions, so if you want to get a Historic PPV or something then trading, mystery boxes/super mystery boxes is the way to get there.

 

17) All title will begin with a default prestige level appropriate to their level. Main event titles will be set to 80 prestige, all midcard titles will be set to 50 prestige and all low level titles will be set to 20 prestige.

 

18) I’m setting a maximum of 4 promotions for the US, 3 for Japan and 2 each for Europe, Canada, UK and Australia. This way we stop having 10 promotions in the US and 1 in Japan. It should help the game world flow. Therefore we shall allow a maximum of 17 people to sign up for this (and Tiberious ;) ). If you get in late and only Aus is left, trust me it was a lot of fun last time...

 

19) If you submit a list to me, ranking wrestlers, and you are not online to make your pick, I will take the first person from that list who has not been selected for your pick (Granted that I am online to do so). Others may be able to fill this role as needed.

The draft rules above are from a mixture of like every draft I've been here, from people I've talked too about problems with workers being traded for no reason but their Champagne Lover and other things. If anyone hates the idea, has any questions or any improvements, I'm untypically willing to listen to any ideas haha.

<strong>Create a Worker:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Regarding Skill Stats:</p><p> </p><p>

You get 1100 points to create a character. If you obtain this box/purchase this box in the first 10 rounds the worker will get 1300 starting points. This character will promptly be signed to your promotion on a written deal, and can be made loyal to your promotion or another character in exchange for 100 of the characters starting creation points. The character will start with a 100 reputation that will not count against his points. The physical stats will start at all 100 (unless otherwise noted by you) and the business/booking stats will all start at 0, although you may set preferences. The character can be traded etc. and for all intents and purposes will count as a part of your roster from the time of their creation. You can make them whatever age, weight etc. that you want, and will be responsible for giving them a name, bio and picture. If you can't/don't want to find them a picture I will provide one/try to render them as best as I can based on the description you give me. Created workers can be improved through mystery boxes. The workers popularity will start at 25 in their base region if drafted in the PPA rounds, and 50 if drafted in the written rounds. As with all boxes, can be traded at anytime.</p><p> </p><p>

Regarding Performance Stats:</p><p> </p><p>

You get 100 points to delegate for the worker between babyface and hell Performance. If you draft the worker within the written rounds you will get 125 points.</p><p> </p><p>

Concerning the remaining 9 performance stats you will get 450 points to delegate, with no more than 2 performance stats in the grouping surpassing 85.</p><p> </p><p>

Regarding Personality:</p><p> </p><p>

The personality will be set to random.</p><p> </p><p>

Restrictions:</p><p>

* Excluding reputation you may only have 1 (starting) A or A* stat, 2 B+ stats and 3 B stats. No more than one of the B+ or better grades can be distributed within the same stat group (i.e that means that the wrestler can't have both an A*/A/B+ mat and A*/A/B+ submission or A*/A/B+ brawling and A*/A/B+ hardcore etc.). Specifically in the entertainment skills section no more than one of the B or better grades can be distributed within the same stat group (i.e that means that the wrestler can't have both an A*/A/B+/B charisma and A*/A/B+ mic/acting etc.). If you need further clarification ask. </p><p> </p><p>

* A character cannot have above a B- in announcing, colour or refereeing unless that is the only role they are designated as "usually" in. In the fore mentioned case, the announcing/refereeing/colour stat may not exceed B+.</p><p> </p><p>

* Anything that you don't specify will be left as the default.</p><p> </p><p>

* You can go beyond the initial caps by getting mystery boxes that build workers up.</p><p> </p><p>

* There is no cap on the number of created characters you can get. However, they will be rare as boxes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a worker defection! (SHOCK!) This box can be used to steal any worker who was drafted in the previous 5 rounds of the draft prior to this box being picked. If they were on a written contract then they will be stolen on a written contract. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time if you so wish to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lose Worker</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a worker walkout. At the end of the draft, a random worker on your roster will walk out on the promotion and you will lose their contract. They will then have a strong dislike relationship with the owner of your promotion. If the worker on your roster hit by this box is the owner of your promotion you will have to select a new owner, who will then has a strong dislike relationship with your old owner. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time if you so wish to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

Sex Change</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a sex change! At the end of this draft, this box will randomly select one worker on your roster to experience a sex change under mysterious circumstances. The sex change and resulting hormonal imbalance will also cause a massive personality shift in the worker. As the booker of your promotion, you will be responsible for coming up with a new ring name and look for the worker (ie: get a new picture) and if necessary, setting a new role for them within your promotion. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time if you so wish to do so.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Alter Relationship</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a relationship for you to alter. You can alter one existing relationship in the database, regardless of whether or not the workers involved are employed by you. You can change many kinds of relationships, though you can’t change from a negative relationship to a positive relationship, for example. However, if you have two of these boxes then you may use both of them to do so. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time if you so wish to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Add Relationship</strong></p><p><strong>

This box contains a new relationship for you to create. You can create the following relationship types between any workers on your own roster: Dating, Loyalty, Protégé, Strong Friendship, Best Friend, Strong Dislike, Hatred, Simmering Tension. <strong>Development Territory</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a development territory. As the owner of the territory, you get to name it, decide it’s product, decide where it is based and appoint it’s staff. The territory will start with 30 popularity in it’s home region only (ie: 30 in Tri-State if you set it up there). In order to help you set up your development territory you can immediately pick two people to sign to written contracts and send to the development territory. You can also choose to send anyone you draft to a written deal to work at your development territory. You must also announce that you are using the box as it will be assumed that if you don’t then you are choosing to hold it until later. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>TV Deal</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a TV Deal. For each TV Deal that you possess, you may draft one TV show on any network you want and at any timeslot you wish. If you possess multiple TV Deals you can choose to broadcast one TV show on multiple networks if you wish or you can choose have more than 1 TV show. You do not need to decide the details of your TV deal immediately, but no TV network can broadcast more than 3 TV shows. All TV shows will have the minimum required rating for your timeslot and be on a 1 year deal.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>PPV Deal</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a PPV Deal. For each PPV Deal that you possess, you may draft one PPV provider to broadcast your events. If you receive multiple PPV Deals then you may choose to have more than one PPV Provider, though you can not have 2 providers who show your events in the same area. All PPV contracts will be set to a year and have the minimum required rating for that network/time/size. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cancel bad box effect</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Worker Popularity Boost 4: </strong></p><p> </p><p>

In one Area of the world, Worker gains 50 minus 80% of current popularity across all the regions.</p><p> </p><p>

This would mean if you are dealing with a worker who is at 0, the worker would gain 50. But if the worker was already at 60, he'd only gain 2 (80% of 60 is 48). Numbers were just thrown out as examples, could easily be adjusted.</p><p> </p><p>

If this formula results in a negative increase then the worker gains a 1 point increase in the selected area.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Magazine Photoshoot</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains magazine photoshoots. You may choose to send one worker immediately on a magazine photoshoot. The worker will then have a jump in popularity of between 0 and +20, a jump in sex appeal of between 0 and +5, and a jump in star quality of between 0 and +10. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time if you so wish to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Beneath The Mask</strong></p><p> </p><p>

One wrestler of your choice is given a new identity under a mask. It is up to you to select the worker and apply any name or gimmick changes with this information.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mask Prestige 1:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A worker’s mask prestige can be upgraded by 1 level.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mask Prestige 2:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Training Regime 1</strong></p><p> </p><p>

This box contains a training regime for a worker. This can be used to increase a workers stats by up to 50 points, with a minimum of 5 stats being raised by a minimum of 5 points. This can be used on a combination of performance, physical and skills. If you receive more than 1 of this box then you can choose to use them all on the same worker if you wish. As with all boxes, the contents can be traded to someone else at any time if you so wish to do so.</p><p> </p><p>

18 does seem a bit large, hence the increase in mystery boxes, some people having the option to drop out after round 30 at any time etc, those going for Canada and the UK's as well will probably be more around regional (UK for example has 125 workers at game start that are regional level or above so there's scope for Europe and the UK to build stars I guess.</p><p> </p><p>

That's of course if all 18 spaces go...</p><p> </p><p>

Drafting, does everyone hate serpentine as much as me? Like you get the first pick, then the last, then the first, why be interested in what's happening. I had a suggestion I ran by MHero earlier for an alternate drafting rota:</p><p> </p><p>

If all 18 spaces are taken up it would go a little like this:</p><p>

Round 1- 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18</p><p>

Round 2- 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, 18,17,16,15,14,13,12,11,10</p><p> </p><p>

A little serpentine but instead of waiting 0 turns and then 35, everyone if we had 18 would be waiting 26 spaces from their last pick and then 9 to their next in order to give everyone a fair chance. It'd be a little variation to it all and give people who get middle of the pack numbers a chance at suffering like us first round guys always do.</p><p> </p><p>

Yay or nay?</p><p> </p><p>

I said after round 30 Written deals are off the table, its all PPA (unless you pick up a mystery box with a written deal of course), but would people be interested if for example, you could choose a cut off point for written deals if you wanted to take it, so in round 10/15/20/25 if you wanted to move straight onto PPA you had the power to do so but once you choose to do so (like leaving the draft all together) there's no going back unless you obtain a written mystery box.</p><p> </p><p>

It's just for those companies that are going cult/national 30 is a bare minimum really you'd need for written's before enhancement guys and future prospects etc, but for someone running a 90's WCW or in a alliance with people, you'd only really want your big names under contract before a revolving door of workers came in and out the company.</p><p> </p><p>

Again I'm probably rambling (lack of sleep, anxiety issues etc) but add that as a second yay or nay of the day.</p><p> </p><p>

1) Running the draft in alternate serpentine</p><p>

2) Allowing draftees to choose to stop offering written contracts at intervals (10/15/20/25) before everyone stops at 30.</p>

<p>I'm a little confused about your proposed system, would round 3 be the same order as round 1? If so the first 9 people always get to pick before the last 9 people; which does give them an advantage.</p><p> </p><p>

My suggestion is that since the first picks are the most important, have it serpentine once and then continue in that order without any more twisting. Here's how it would look:</p><p> </p><p>

Round 1: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18</p><p>

Round 2+: 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1</p><p> </p><p>

There would be only one instance of back to back picks, and for the rest of the draft it would be in the same order. I think this would make it somewhat more fair, as the people who got to pick their #1 guy later would get earlier picks for the rest of the draft.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Unrelated question: are their any special rules for workers on Excursion?</p>

<p>I think my reasoning on the idea was if you're 1 or 18 you'll always pick first or last, whereas with this idea 1 would pick first then in the middle of 2, first in 3, middle of 4 but in the same vain 18 would pick last then middle, 9 would pick middle then first, 10 middle then last, it just opens up that you're likely to get a book end and middle</p><p> </p><p>

Maybe if I did it:</p><p> </p><p>

Round 1- 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18</p><p>

Round 2- 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9</p><p> </p><p>

It would work better? I'm unsure, its 2am and my brain's failed. Let me have a look at this tomorrow.</p><p> </p><p>

I think in making the 80% work, if we have 80% of your workers have to be available to work in your home region, with your first 10 picks solely based in your home country region (so incidentally if you were a Japanese promotion you could still pick a Mexican worker (like Dark Wolf II) as he's Japan based. The only person who this doesn't apply for is Tiberious who's 80% have to be based in USA/Mexico not just eligible to work there.</p><p> </p><p>

Basically it makes sense in my head, but most things do to 2:13am me.</p>
