The High Flyers Vs The British Bulldogs

The show opened straight into the action as we revisited the Championship match that happened at Chase For The Ace, on this occaasion it was a non title match and as a preview for the tag team action that would be taking place at AWA Renaissance, the two teams came out looking to be the favorites in the gauntlet. In a close encounter, the champs retained their momentum going in to Renaissance, but the excellent showing from the Bulldgos showed they could still very easily be a threat.

Jerry Lawler Vs Brad Rheingans

AWA Television Championship

With Curt Hennig's final match looming in the air and the fate of Jerry Lawler resting on that match, the King was not playing his usual theatrics, he was annoyed, he was angry, he was aggressive and he took it out on his challenger here tonight! Brad used his wrestling skill and power to fight back on multiple occasions and try to stop the onslaught that Jerry was delivering, but thanks to the rough and occassionally dirty hits that Jerry was landing through the match, weakened the athelte down to a point where Jerry got the pin off of the Diving Fist.

Lawler Promo

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jerry%20Lawler%2086_zpsvuuilgfr.jpg

Still panting to catch his breath after the match, Jerry looks like a man possessed as he bullies the ring crew for a microphone, NOW! His wide, wild eyes told that the King was not his usual confident self, he was about to announce the next opponent that would face Curt Hennig...and ti had to be someone he was sure could give Curt a run for his money, or else, he would find himself facign the young man who was seeking revenge at Renaissance...

I hope you have been paying attention Curt, because every week since winning this Television Championship, they've placed me in that ring against someone to defend it! It's part of my job, part of my duty as the Television Champion to defend each and every week...and in order to do that Curt? I need to be good, I need to be DAMN good...I need to be THE BEST Curt! Your determination has led you this far, I'll give you the credit you deserve...but you need to start being smart Curt, you need to realize what it is that is coming your way if you win here tonight. A match against ME! These people out here? The people watching at home? Even you Curt, you can say I've been ducking you all they want, they can say I've been trying to avoid you until they turn blue in the face and then hopefully, they might just find themselves choking due to lack of oxygen and finally do me the favour of shutting their ignorant mouths!

The fans outright and defiantly ignore The King's wishes and chuck more hatred his way in the form of empty soda cups and popcorn buckets, the sound of their booing creating a loud echo that could surely have been heard all the way in the locker room.

I haven't been trying to avoid you Curt, I've been trying to save you! Save you from the pain, save you from the embarassment...save you from letting down your daddy! You know he is going to be watching don't you Curt? Laying in whatever hospital bed they could find to fit that fat tub of lard in to! Neck brace around his neck Curt...a neck brace that is there BECAUSE of ME! You really think he wants to lay there, helpless and afraid...knowing that in just a matter of time he will find himself looking at his own son going through that exact same ordeal! That's the fate I've been trying to save you from Curt, because when they line you up next to your daddy, your beds sitting right by each other...you'll slowly try and crank that shattered neck over so you can look at your dear, sweet daddy and you know what you'll see Curt? SHAME! Shame that he raised such a DISAPPOINTMENT...shame that he allowed his fatherly ambitions to get in the way of BUSINESS...and forced you in to a pair of wrestling boots THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE CURT! That's why I've been trying to end this Curt...so it doesn't ever really have to begin...and you can go on playing wrestler for as long as you want! But you insisted, you badgered and you bothered and you refused to lay down for anybody that came your way...well now I found someone that won't just make you lay down Curt, they're going to make every inch of you scream out in agony! I found myself a Hitman Curt...trained by one of the deadliest men in the business! He's going to break you Curt and I'm gonna' be there to enjoy every last minute of it! Straight from the Hart Dungeon in Canada, your opponent tonight Curt?

Lawler paused, trying to straighten himself out, recompose himself as he slowly painted on that Cheshire cat grin that we were so used to seeing, as he reassured himself that tonight...would be the end of Curt Hennig.

BRET "THE HITMAN" HART!

Curt Hennig Vs Bret Hart

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Curt%20Hennig%2085_zpsmolpmyuw.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Bret%20Hart%2088%20Alt_zpsam1ilnps.jpg

The AWA Nation had little to no idea of who this young man calling himself "The Hitman" was, but if Jerry Lawler had decided on him to face Curt Hennig, an eye must be kept on him at all times and indeed the young Hart did not disappoint. His technical skill and athleticism had to be admired, regardless of who it was he was aligning himself with, the two young upstarts were like two bulls trying to gain dominance over the other. Bret Hart seemed to make an effort on working on the legs of Curt Hennig, reducing the man to a limp in what looked like the end game for Curt. With his last bit of spirit and defiance, Curt forced Bret into a Hennig Plex and picked up a well earned pin to end this showcase between the two and head on to face Jerry Lawler.

After The Match

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jerry%20Lawler%2086_zpsvuuilgfr.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Black%20Scorpion%20alt_zpsxvmjmyhx.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Curt%20Hennig%2085_zpsmolpmyuw.jpg

A livid Jerry Lawler and his masked bodyguard, Snake circled around the outside of the ring after the match, the victorious, albeit limping Curt Hennig was trapped like a rat right in the middle of it, and although he found himself on one leg, pointed straight to Jerry Lawler, screaming at him to "GET IN HERE!"

Lalwer ordered his bodyguard to come in, Snake ran in and blows began to be traded between him and Hennig, the effort from Hennig had to be admired, but he was too hurt and too exhausted from his match with Bret Hart to properly defend himself, it was only a matter of time before the flurry of blows he was trying to deliver slowed down and became ineffected.

Lawler watched with confidence as Snake took advantage of the hurt leg, stomping and kicking at it until he reduced Curt to his knees, before wrapping his arm around Hennig's head and DRIVING IT STRAIGHT INTO THE CANVAS!

It was only after Curt had already been dealt with that Lawler climbed up to the top rope and delivered a Diving Fist to the fallen hero, getting down on the nat and screaming at Hennig "I WARNED YOU! YOU WANTED A MATCH THIS BADLY? LOOK WHAT IT'S DONE TO YOU! You sure you still want that match NOW Curt?"

Mockingly, Snake took a hold of Curt's head, grabbing him by his hair and moved it up and down in a yes motion

"I don't know if you can hear me Curt, but at Renaissance? You put that Light Heavyweight Title on the line or I'm not coming out to fight you...you understand me Curt? We got a DEAL now Curt? I hope so...and when you do? I'm gonna' break your neck, just like I did your Dad's and I'm gonna send him thew tape of it personally so he can at least lay there, comforted in knowing that in just a few hours? His son will be laying there RIGHT NEXT TO HIM!"

With a final slap to Curt's face the two left the ring, leaving Curt in a heap on the floor like a rag doll, just days before his match with Jerry Lawler.

Contract Signing

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Gene%20Okerlund%2086_zpsqb4mlr1s.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Nick%20Bockwinkel%201_zps4rdhgam1.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Hulk%20Hogan%2084_zpsd73vxpq9.jpg

We go to the ring which has been set up specially for the scheduled contract signing between Hulk Hogan and Nick Bockwinkel, both men are sitting opposite each other, all that is between them is a table with the contract in the middle and a pen each side for the men to sign. Security are now on the other side of the barricades, so that they can rush in if things get violent and chaos ensues. Mean Gene Okerlund is overseeing the contract signing.

Mean Gene

Ladies and Gentlemen, as we get prepared for the Main Event of the evening, it is the AWA's pleasure...and also mine to welcome you to the contract signing, between AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel and Hulk Hogan. To explain the tension that I feel right now in this ring, is electric boys and girls...and to ensure things do not turn into chaos, The Gagne family and the AWA Committee have agreed to allow both men to say their piece before signing the Contract! Bobby Heenan has been banned from ringside for this occasion and security have been placed outside the barrier to ensure things stay civil. Now both men have been briefed on the details of the Contract, both men fully understand the rules and regulations of the Championship match and both men have agreed to sit here with me, as they are now in order to make the match official. With that out of the way, let me turn now to the current, reigning and defending Champion, Nick Bockwinkel.

Bockwinkel

Well Gene, I for one am outright ashamed at the deplorable nature of the AWA, they have turned what should be a private affair between me and my current contender into a cavalcade of debauchery. This disgusting, juvenile carnival nature of what should be an official, legal binding document only leads me to question the legitimacy that Mr. Hogan will bring to this company and to this Championship if in the most unlikely and fantastical of situations, where he were to win MY coveted and prestigious championship! Now correct me if I am wrong Mr. Okerlund, but the AWA has not had a contract signing of this magnitude before has it? One where we parade ourselves like clowns at the local carnival? Negative, we have not, it has always been my understanding and the understanding of those that run the Championship Committee that when the Champion and Contender meet to sign their contract it is done backstage in a private, secluded and respectful encounter. Which is why, Mr. Okerlund I honestly and truly believe this whole disrespectful, dishonourable, disgusting affair was none other than the brain child of the dumbfounded, idiotic mind of one Hulk Hogan. Every other contender that has laced their boots up to face me have stuck to the traditional rules Mr. Hogan, we meet, we exchange a handshake, we exchange a few futile yet formiddable words with one another and then we sign the contract and go about our respectful days in preparation for our match. You are the first that the AWA has decided to shine Television cameras on during this event...why is that? Something tells me this was not an idea of the Committee, but one that you rather forced upon them in a further bid to promote yourself as the Mr. Universe candidate that you wished you could have been. We are fully aware of your muscularity Mr./ Hogan, no amount of television cameras will enhance that, regardless what word of mouth may say about it adding ten pounds to your behemoth figure. Need I remind you what this is truly about between you and I? I'll even use words that you can understand, you hairless ape! This is about a belt that men have poured themselves into...when this belt was first created? It meant nothing Mr. Hogan...can you even begin to fathom that. This grand and ultimate prize that everybody who enters here now yearns for...once upon a time was nothing more than an attraction...it took men, real men, real WRESTLERS to make this belt what it is now...and you are not one of those men Hulk Hogan, nor will you ever be! All you see when you look at this championship are dollar signs, fame, fortune, notoriety...all the dark, black sins thta have defaced this industry and allowed clowns like you to make bids to take it over and turn it into something that it isn't! When I first saw you enter this company I knew the direction the industry was going...cartoon, comic cavalcades of men turning themselves into loud and proud over the top characters to get cheap thrills out of the audience in the hopes that if they cheer for you and buy your t-shirts? Then somehow you might just one day become Champion. No Mr. Hogan, because men like me still exist! We're a dying breed...but we're still here...and I will crawl on my hands and knees if I have to in order to represent them...and to stop men like you from RUINING this business!

Mean Gene

A very passionate speech there from the Champion Nick Bockwinkel. a lot of very strong opinions aimed straight at our contender. Our contender who, we will now allow to respond before both men sign the contract. Mr. Hogan, the floor is yours.

Hulk Hogan

Let me tell YOU something Nick Bockwinkel...you're only right on one account brother...and that is my hope that all the people in this audience tonight, all the people watching at home? My hope is that they believe in me brother! These people have had to sit idly by and be force fed a corrupt champion like you! Everything you have done Nick Bockwinkel, everything you have achieved as admirable as it is as respected as it should be it carries around an asterisk dude and that asterisk tells us that you have been one of the most disgusting snivelling men walking the face of this planet man! It is YOU that has gotten addicted to the fame and the fortune! It's YOU that has gotten addicted to the power that championship carries...and it's YOU that refuses to let go of it dude! In your mind...you're still fighting Verne Gagne aren't you? You're still going out there to the baseball stadium, the hundreds, the thousands, the hundreds of thousands of screaming fans who would pay an arm and a leg to see you two fight just one more time! You're still living in that world...and that isn't the way this world works any more brother! When we step into that ring and face off fort the AWA CHampionship...my Hulkamaniacs, they're gonna' help take you back in time Nick Bockwinekl! The screaming and the cheering and the yearning to see us two fight one on one, man on man, will cause the foundations of the very arena we fight in to shake and crumble, it will cause the roof to blow sky high and as the light from the beaming sun shines in on both of us brother...for a moment, just one moment Nick...you'll get that feeling one more time, the feeling you had before Bobby Heenan tainted it all and turned it all to BLACK! But it won't last long dude, oh no, beause after the dust has settled, after Hulkamania has torn the foundations down, blown the roof off sky high and left nothing but dsust and chaos to fight in...when it all clears Nick? Your world will finally come to an end...and you can rest, just like Verne Gagne has, because he knows...and you'll know that it's time for a new hero to come and take the mantle...and that hero is Hulk Hogan and ALLLLLL HIS HULKAMANIACS BROTHER!

Mean Gene

Another passionate speech, from a very passionate man! Ladies and gentlemen I think the time for talk is over, if both of these men could please sign the contract and make the match official!

Hogan is the first man to sign the contract, as both men refuse to take their eyes off of each other, he slowly slides it Nick Bockwinkel's way, who in turn, signs his own name at the bottom of the page. The moment the contract is signed, both men stand to their feet simultaneously, staring each other down. Words are exchanged but the microphone cannot pick it up. Bockwinkel shoves the table aside and before we know it, both men are face to face, gritting their teeth and clenching their fists, getting very personal with each other as the security men enter, the fans are going nuts, they want to see a brawl break out between the two but security aren't letting it happen tonight as Hogan has a match coming his way...instead we're left with the intense staredown, before Bockwinkel leaves, holding his championship close to his chest, clinging to it...with all his might.

Hulk Hogan had one final Main Event to come out of before taking on his opponent at Renaissane. The Hulkster was victim of Blackwell's size and athleticism which made it loiok like Hogan might lose his first match in the AWA this year, but as always, the Hulkamaniacs love for their hero fueled the Hulkster into a come back and it wasn't long after that we got to see the Big Leg Drop for the win

<p>Your promo work is really going places. Congrats on winning storyline of the month in the November Diary of the Month contest for the Lawler vs. Hennig feud. It's well deserved.</p><p> </p><p>

You're bringing in a ton of people from Stampede Wrestling up in Calgary, what with the Bulldogs and now Bret Hart. Do you have a working relationship with them? If not, are you offering them PPA contracts or are you giving them written contracts? Obviously, in real life the WWF raided Stampede's roster to the point that they lost all their biggest stars, I'm curious if in your diary universe if it'll be AWA that winds up stealing away the best of Calgary?</p><p> </p><p>

That Bockwinkel promo was hot fire, man. And a fantastic summation of the reason why AWA couldn't keep Hogan - because the stuff Bockwinkel the character was saying seemed to be what Verne Gagne the man actually believed, that Hogan was a musclehead and not a "real" wrestler, and thus was not "ready" to hold the AWA belt. Obviously Vince McMahon saw the writing on the wall in real life; looks like in your diary universe Greg Gagne was able to see it, too.</p><p> </p><p>

Jerry Blackwell should have been a bigger deal. Legitimately huge man, legit strong too, not just fat. But super agile in his younger days, not just for a big man, but by most any standard in the 1980s. Reminds me of another guy who should have been bigger than he was, Bam Bam Bigelow. I don't know if you're taking suggestions, but I kind of feel like turning Jerry Blackwell face in order to take on Bigelow, the heel Beast from the East, could be an amazing match that never actually happened in real life.</p><p> </p><p>

Keep up the good work - even if I miss a prediction card or two, I'm still reading!</p>

I agree with you on Blackwell. He always seemed so out of place in AWA, and I never understood why he was never part of the traveling band of huge heels in the 80's that were a staple of the territory era. The "I've had to fight all kinds of monsters before, but this man has so much more athleticism I have to work extra hard to chop him down to size." type promos would have written themselves.</p>

The regining and defending champions, The High Flyers started off the gauntlet facing off against the Midnight Express. With the revival of the division being the main focus of this gauntlet, the idea that whoever won this match would become the face of the division was floating around in all the minds of the teams participating here tonight. The quick pace of The High Flyers had the Midnight Express up against the ropes, but as expected, the promise that Jim Cornette had made of staying a neutral party was once again broken as he used his tennis racket while the referee was looking away to knock down Jim Brunzell, leading to Bobby Eaton picking up the pin, meaning that tonight, we were destined to get new Tag Team Champions.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Midnight Express win the first match.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Dennis%20Condrey%202_zpseq06ixf7.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Bobby%20Eaton%2080s_zpsx8qscyaq.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Dynamite%20Kid%2085_zps5pdrxpvf.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Davey%20Boy%20Smith%203_zpszmxxbdwj.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> After a two minute intermission to allow the Midnight Express to regain their composure, the next team that would come out in the Gauntlet were The British Bulldogs. After seeing the tactics of Jim Cornette working against The High Flyers, The Bulldogs were smartened up and when Cornette tried to pull the same stunt twice, found himself the victim of a Missile Dropkick from The Dynamite Kid! The Midnight Express had to rely on their own skill from this point on and although a close encounter between the two teams, Condrey picked the win over Davey Boy with a handful of tights.</p><p> </p><p> Midnight Express win the second match and after thw two minute intermission, now was the time to find whether the Legion of Doom had accepted the invitation to join the match. After multiple attempts to call the Legion of Doom down to the ring by the ring announcer, a note had been passed which was immediately read to the fans after a good five minutes of waiting to see what would happen. A ten second count would begin and if the Legion of Doom did not appear, The Midnight Express would be crowned the champions. </p><p> </p><p> In what could have been dubbed as the slowest ten count of all time, to give the Legion of Doom the fairest chance to appear as possible, it seems the fans would be left disappointed, the ten count ended and Midnight Express were officially announced as the new tag team champions...</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rated B-</strong></p><p> </p><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42763" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>OOOOOOOHHHHHH, WHAT A RUSH!</strong></p></div><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Dennis%20Condrey%202_zpseq06ixf7.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Bobby%20Eaton%2080s_zpsx8qscyaq.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Dynamite%20Kid%2085_zps5pdrxpvf.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Davey%20Boy%20Smith%203_zpszmxxbdwj.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Road%20Warrior%20Animal%2085_zpsnm1mkvrd.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Road%20Warrior%20Hawk%2085_zpsp4zu3b0o.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> As The Midnight Express began their celebration, they were interrupted by a rare occurance in the AWA, which was the entrance music of another wrestler. Something told the people that were watching, that THIS was the Legion of Doom...they weren't here to play by our rules and they weren't here to snatch those titles away just yet, they were here to send a message...and that was a message of destruction. Just as the tag team division had seen a rebirth, a revival, these two monsters charged the ring and overpowered the Midnight Express and to add further insult to injury, did not show any bias in their choice of victims, as after planting both Condrey and Eaton on the mat, tossed Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy over and out of the ring, leaving the arena looking like a war zone.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rated C+</strong> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42763" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Jerry Blackwell Vs Rick Martel</strong></p></div><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jerry%20Blackwell_zps88woixmx.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Rick%20Martel%2085_zps4y4h0fth.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> In what was one of the matches of the night, Rick Martel and Jerry Blackwell hopefully showed the AWA nation and the AWA Top Brass that they deserve to have eyes watching them as much as any of the other top wrestlers right now. Curt's AWA light Heavyweight Championship was on the line, but far more than that was at stake for Curt Hennig. Lawler had attacked and injured his father with the Piledriver, he was currently laying in a hospital bed with a broken neck and the man responsible was standing opposite and looking to do the same to him. This match was personal from the start, with an atmosphere that could be cut with a knife, Lawler's confidence and bravado was nowhere to be seen and the usual blue chipper attitude of Hennig was gone and replaced with a deadpan determination to not only prove he was better than Lawler, but to gain revenge for his father. This was a hard hitting, back and forth brawl between the men, starting off with hard, tight mat wrestling between the two that went back and forth for a good five minutes before Hennig was delivered a shot that sent him reeling like he'd been hit with a shotgun blast. With an upperhand gained, Lawler began working on the head and neck area of Curt, clearly trying to weaken the area and deliver a Piledriver, dirty stomps to the nack, yanking, pulling, clawing at Curt's hair before delivering repeated hard kicks to the skull. Curt caught a lucky break as with a great use of his energy, held back one of the King's kicks and pushed him into the corner. From there Curt gained momentum, driving Lawler's skull into the ringpost, busting the King over and sending him tumbling to the mat. In what was a rare sight for the AWA, Curt actually performed a diving elbow off the top rope only to get a two count. With frustration and anger building up over the course of the match, lawler refusing to let Curt get an easy win, Curt weakened the bloody King to a point where Lawler could barely stand, as he looked upon the King that was looking up on his knees at the young up and comer, he spat in the face of the man who had broken his father's neck and finished it all with a devastating Hennig Plex</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rated B+</strong></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42763" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>After The Match</strong></p></div><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Curt%20Hennig%2085_zpsmolpmyuw.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Black%20Scorpion%20alt_zpsxvmjmyhx.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> As a weakened Curt Hennig slowly raised to his feet, retrieving his Light Heavyweight Championship from the referee, he pointed to all of the fans who had supported him through his time and went out to thank them, shaking hands and sharing hugs, the prospect had been accepted into the AWA like a member of the family, when like Lawler, they could ahve seen it as Larry Hennig shoving his kid down their throat and turned him away, they did not do that, they saw that this Kid had a future in the AWA and wanted him to be one of theirs. The celebrations, jubilations and high emotions running through the arena came to an abrupt end when out from under the ring apron came SNAKE, Jerry Lawler's masked bodyguard who had been banned from ringside during the match. As Curt was driven down onto the concrete and the two were rolling around fighting with one another, in the struggle to stop Snake from knocking his lights out after this hard fought match, Curt reached out instinctively and yanked at Snake's match, pulling it off in the struggle we finally got to see the face of the masked man who had been associating himself with Jerry Lawler...</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jake%20Roberts%2088_zpsl4pz2cr0.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> It was a face the AWA fans were unfamiliar with, but one that only spelled trouble, his eyes were dark and piercing, ones that could stare straight into your soul, his long hair and dark facial hair gave him the look of a sleazy, greasy villain...that only had contempt and hatred in his soul. With his face revealed to the world, The Snake delivered a dirty headbutt to Curt Hennig to knock the youngster off of him. As he stood and threw his mask to the side, he picked the Light Heavyweight Champion to his feet, hooked his head under his arm and drove him <strong>HEAD FIRST INTO THE CONCRETE</strong>, before heading backstage, smirking and laughing to himself that he had ruined this moment for the young Champion.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rated C+</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42763" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>AWA World Heavyweight Championship</strong></p></div><p> <strong>Hulk Hogan Vs Nick Bockwinkel</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Hulk%20Hogan%2084_zpsd73vxpq9.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Nick%20Bockwinkel%201_zps4rdhgam1.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> It was time for the Main Event, Hulk Hogan, who had has his eyes on the belt from the moment he had entered the company, the winner of the Chase for The Ace and Hulkamania running wild right behind him against Nick Bockwinkel, the standard bearer for the old guard, claiming to be protecting wrestling from the "Cartoon Cavalcade" that Hulk Hogan represented, there was no love lost between these two men and you could tell. Bockwinkel cut off any and all attempts for Hulk to hot dog and grand stand early on in the match, Nick Bockwinkel wanted to make it clear what kind of match this would have to be, what Hogan had to do in order to win...he had to Wrestle and early on, bockwinkel looked like the master that he is, the master he had been for quite some time in the AWA. Hogan's size and muscles posed no threat to Bockwinkel it seemed, but then the fans made their voices heard...and that energy clearly struck fear into the heart of Bockwinkel, every wrestling hold he performed, every time he got Hogan on the mat, Hogan fought his way back up, Bockwinkel quickly cut him back down but it seemingly did very little to keep Hogan's back on the mat, dude! Hogan was feeding from the frenzy the crowd had given him and suddenly, after Bockwinkel had cut him off one too many times, out of nowhere a scoop slam from Hogan and the story of the match was changing, shot after shot after shot was delivered from Hogan, sending Bockwinkel careening around the ring, Atomic Drop, he bounced forward so much that his neck collided with the ropes! Hogan points to all the fans who are begging for him to give them what they want, and as Bockwinkel tried desperately to fight back, hitting as Hogan's legs as he tried to get back to his feet, Hogan shook his head, hitting at Hogan;s chest as he got to his knees, Hogan shook his head, he went to strike at Hogan's face as he retrned to his feet...Hogan grabbed the closed fist of Bockwinkel and waggled his free finger in Bockwinkel's face...he points to Bockwinkel! YOOOOOOOOOOU!</p><p> </p><p> As he whips Bockwinkel to the ropes, sends Bockwinkel coming back face first into a dropkick. It looks like Hogan is going for the Big Leg Drop when all of a sudden...he's distracted, he's noticing a commotion in the crowd, security swarming by the barriers, fans getting seperated and a figure fighting his way through the AWA security. He parted the audience and the security goons with ease, before stepping over the barrier and looking directly at Hogan...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Terry%20Gordy%2083_zpspwvayava.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Security need to gather themselves immediately and get this guy out of here! Any WCCW fans in the arena knew this man in an instant and knew he was trouble and they also knew, as every other AWA fan knew. HE SHOULD NOT BE HERE! He wasn't a part of the roster, he wasn't even associated with the AWA, why was he showing up here and why now? Before any questions could be answered the man made his way into the ring. In an attempt to defend himself and stop the match from going to a Disqualification, Hogan tried to fight the man off, but the shot was revered and the moment this low down Redneck delivered a sickening low blow, Kicking Hogan right between his legs, the bell was rang and decision was called and the fans were left Aghast at what they were seeing.</p><p> </p><p> Ladies and Gentlemen, your winner by Disqualification...HULK HOGAN!</p><p> </p><p> It didn;t matter! Hulk may have won but...Bockwinkel got to keep the belt! Was he in on this? Was this some hitman hired by Bockwinkel outside of the company? <p>Good show!</p><p> </p><p>

I would say my favorite moment was the end of the main event. I had called Jake awhile back, but the run in at the end of the show I would not have seen coming! I both like and dislike the show's ending, but well... it is a very Gagne way to go <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

As long as Hogan doesn't sign a deal elsewhere in game, I don't see history repeating itself here. Ultimately the fans (and Hogan) will get what he has coming, but getting another match or two out of it isn't a bad thing </strong></p>

I'll echo the sentiments. This felt like a really solid episode of AWA television, very authentic.

Favourite Match/Segment of the Night?

Several good segments, but the write-up on the Hogan/Bockwinkel match felt like a perfect 1980s Hulkamania match. Could have been a perfect Saturday Night's Main Event. I think it's okay to tease out the chase a little longer - unlike Verne, I think you'll know when enough's enough and let the Hulkster take the belt, instead of milking the chase so dry that Hogan leaves in frustration.

Least Favourite Match/Segment of the Night?

Neither Wahoo or Patera do much for me, but they both have their uses in getting other people over. Keeping Wahoo at about 50/50 on his matches keeps him in a position to effectively gatekeep - so that it seems like a victory over him isn't impossible, but he's a guy you have to beat if you're going to claim a spot in the main event.

Superstar of the Night?

I'm going to go with Jake Roberts. What a way to "debut". I know, he's been Lawler's bodyguard for a while now, but now the Snake is free of the mask. Which is great for a guy who was a master of facial expressions. I was a little surprised that Lawler dropped the Light Heavyweight title already, though he certainly put Curt through enough hell to get it. But I think Lawler might be bigger than the Light Heavyweight title - I think he's main event caliber. It's a great win for Curt Henning, too, and it's giving him a path toward the main event picture. Overall, great job with the Lawler/Hennig feud!

Any Ideas For Potential Improvement?

Honestly, I think you've hit cruising speed right now. Keep it up. You're at a place where the only thing I can think of is just checking for possible typos. You're in that good of a place in my opinion.

What Do You Want To See Next?

I am utterly, utterly hype for what seems to be a ready-made Hennig/Roberts feud. Jake Roberts is my very favorite "what might have been" story in wrestling. Dude's not exactly physically gifted, but my gods, the promos that man cut. They're legitimately disturbing at times. Jake's malice was not the big cartoony threats that the Legion of Doom or Vader represented. Jake exuded an inner darkness that felt very, very real. And maybe it was Jake drawing on those personal demons, the ones that wrecked his career and his health.

You've already got one of the greatest promo men of all time on your roster with Nick Bockwinkel. Now you've got one of the few men that I would consider to be at least his equal, if not perhaps even better, in Jake Roberts. You've done a fabulous job in getting the "voices" of Bockwinkel, Lawler, and Hogan to sound like the real-life workers. If you can do the same with Jake Roberts...man. That'll make this a must-read diary.

<p>Thanks again everybody for amazing feedback, glad people reading are enjoying the work and hope they enjoy what's coming forward in AWA Storylines. Just to avoid confusion. The AWA World Light Heavyweight Championship was NEVER helf by Lawler. Lawler owns the Television Championship. It was Curt defending his belt to get his match with Lawler and successfully retaining. Also, to help people keep in touch with what's going and also to attract new readers, I will be doing "Monthly Updates" This will summarise Storylines, confirm Champions and generally say the direction the AWA is going in.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Midnight Express</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Camp Cornette</strong></p><p>

The AWA went through a month of rapid change in February, after the injury of Larry Hennig, current Head of Committee, an Interim Position had to be filled in order to keep the show running. It was Jim Cornette, the young southern manager of the Midnight Express that found himself taking on this role and bringing in his clients with him, promising big changes for the AWA and proving to us all that he was by no means a neutral party, taking any and all opportunities he could to further his clientele in the company. In very little time, Cornette has become a thorn in the side of the AWA Nation of fans and it's only a matter of time before this Southern Mama's Boy shows his true colours.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Family Matters</strong></p><p>

It all started with a slap from Jerry Lawler to Larry Hennig, from there things only escalated. Larry was determined to show Lawler who was in charge and after introducing his son, Curt Hennig to the AWA Nation, Lawler had dedicated himself to ending all things Hennig in the American Wrestling Association. Things got personal when Lawler delivered a Piledriver to Larry, after a match the two had which has led to our current Head of Committe being out of action with a broken neck. Curt vowed to take revenge for his father and honor his family name and did just that at Renaissance. However, Jerry Lawler's masked bodyguard, who had gone by the name of "Snake" attacked Curt Hennig after his encounter with The King, getting unmasked in the process, leading questions to ask what this dark menacing figure has against the young blue chip prospect.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>OH, WHAT A RUSH!</strong></p><p>

The Tag Team Division saw a revival in February, thanks to the arrival of The British Bulldogs and The Midnight Express, the AWA was able to hold a Tag Team Gauntlet that would have been impossible just one month ago. The Midnight Express may have walked away with the belts thanks to the dirty ticks of Jim Cornette but it was after the match where The Legion of Doom, two painted behemoth like men that laid out all the wrestlers in the ring that have really shook the foundations of AWA Tag Team action!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hulkamania Gets Derailed</strong></p><p>

Hulkamania has been running wild in the AWA since Hulk Hogan was announced the Number One Contender after winning the Chase For The Ace Tournament. Uncomfortable with the changes that Hulkamania was bringing, Nick Bockwinkel took up the task of being the standard bearer for wrestlers that took the hard knocks and saw themselves as more legitimate athletes. The two met in an epic encounter that ended in controversy when an outsider interfered and cost Hulk Hogan the match, leading to an endless line of questions we hope to answer in the next AWA All Star Wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NWA and WCCW deny involvement in Renaissance Interference</strong></p><p>

The outsider in question was a member of the WCCW roster, which is a company that belongs to the National Wrestling Alliance, while an interference such as this may be seen as exciting to the fans, it carries a whole load of legal red tape and questions that need to be answered, talks with the NWA and the WCCW have begun and while investigations have begun, both organisations deny copability.</p><p> </p><p>

We here at the AWA hope you have enjoyed the action taking place and promise to provide more quality and alternative entertainment for those of you sick of less passionate organisations that refuse to respect the art of wrestling</p><p> </p><p>

With Renaissance over and done with, questions have risen, answers are desperately needed and a controversy needs to be dealt with before the AWA fanbase turn against their favourite company in what is already being called a conspiracy against Hulk Hogan after the events of the Main Event. Nick Bockwinkel's character has been called into question and the possibilities of a rematch are being thrown around the AWA Committee. </p><p> </p><p>

Curt Hennig meanwhile has a whole new threat to deal with, after upholding his family honour and garnering vengeance against Jerry Lawler, He faced the wrath of The Snake, who has promised us his actions will be explained and expanded upon, leaving nothing but nightmares for Curt Hennig to deal with.</p><p> </p><p>

The Legion of Doom made a huge impact after the Tag Team match and are expected to wrestle tonight, forcing them to step out of the shadows and explain themselves.</p><p> </p><p>
