The show opens with sa backstage interview and what a way to open All Star Wrestling after the controversy that occurred in the Main Event, we were staring right at the man that many were pointing the finger of blame at, the man that got to walk out with the AWA World Championship without having a single scratch on him after the interference of the outsider. Nick Bockwinkel was standing with his belt over his shoulder, clad in a flashy navy blue suit and horn rimmed, blue tinted sunglasses, he looked like a five star V.I.P, hate him as much as you want, he always portrayed the portrait of a champion...and as always, he was accompanied by his weasel manager, Bobby Heenan.

Bobby Heenan

At Renaissance my client achieved something great, my client achieved something wonderful ladies and gentlmen! My client, the current AWA World Heavyweight Champion retained his championship against that circus ape, Hulk Hogan! Controversy or not, what matters at the end of the night is who is holding the gold and it sure as heck ain't you Hogan and can we all just take a moment for ourselves and be thankful for that? Can you imagine, can you even begin to fathom what this company would look like with that clown running around as champion! It would be an OUTRAGE! It would be a DISGRACE! And I for one wouldn't stand for it! Thankfully, the values which the AWA hold, the values which Mr. Bockwinkel holds are all still in tact...some say, it's thanks to controversial means, some would like to accuse me and my client in the wrong doing that took place against Mr. Hogan at Renaissance. Listen, Hogan, we may not like you...but the confidence in the ability of Mr. Bockwinkel is so high...that neither of us need to indulge ourselves in such games, you had some bad luck, some guy with a grudge against you and what you stood for decided to take things personal...it's a bad bit of luck but can you really blame him? If he wasn't gonna' do it? Some one else was! You probably have an enemy list a mile long Hogan, it was only a matter of time before somebody decided to teach you a lesson, it's just a shame it couldn't be Nick Bockwinkel that did it!

Nick nodded in agreement as Heenan leaned the microphone his way, not even allowing his client to exude the effort in grabbing a hold of the microphone, Bockwinkel slowly removed his glasses so we could look into his eyes as he addressed the allegations that were now being thrown his way.

Bockwinkel

I understand the perception that the common folk that watch the American Wrestling Association have garnered of one such as myself, those who have not been graced with the superior intellect such as my own are bound to be left forming conspiracy theories about the events which transpired during the Renaissance Main Event, because those conspiracy theories will bring them resolve, those conspiracy theories will bring them comfort, it will bring them a much needed and much desired excuse that they are seeking so that they can go one more day without looking upon their devastating and disgusting figures in the mirror and finally accept the virtuous truth that Hulkamania just wasn't strong enough to keep me down on the mat for three seconds. Hulk Hogan may have won the match, but it's pinfalls that matter when Championships are on the line and as far as my memory can recall, my shoulders were never covered and a referee never counted to three and thus, rightfully so...I have walked away from the encounter with my championship in tact...and more importantly? Everything it represents in tact as well. I will however concede the unfortunate baggage this controversy brings, not just to Hulk Hogan, but also to me...you see it is because of the interference from this barbaric brute that my character has been brought into question, people want to insinuate that I had some hand in all of this. Let us end this vacuous grandiloquence right now because I assure you, it will only lead to disappointing futility when you discover that my honour, my integrity and my reputation as an honest man will be held up after thorough investigation. I'm saying it now, loud and clear for the whole world to hear...and more importantly for Hulk Hogan to hear. I had nothing to do with the interference that occurred at Renaissance, in fact it has brought me great misery, because whispers of a rematch with that hairless cartoon ape are already circling through the rumour mill and a rematch with that vagabond? That idiot savant? Is the LAST thing I want for me, for my Championship...or for this company. So I hope, for the sake of this Championship...and for the sake of this company that Mr. Cornette and the rest of his Committee continue their ongoing investigation into the organisations which are responsible for this neanderthal and bring an answer post haste before these rabid dogs get the rematch that they're begging for! Because right now Mr. Hogan? The answer is no until you learn to treat your champion with a little more respect!

Legion of Doom Vs Sonny Rogers and Steve O

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Road%20Warrior%20Hawk%2085_zpsp4zu3b0o.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Road%20Warrior%20Animal%2085_zpsnm1mkvrd.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Sonny%20Rogers_zpsoxmania0.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Steve%20O_zpsjr3ey4f8.jpg

In what was a dominating display for the newcomers, the Legion of Doom seemingly lived up to their name as they absolutely destoryed and decimated the two men that were in the ring with them. Something about this match told the fans that this was organized to simply showcase the power that these two men had and it did just that as they stood victorious over the poor unfortunate souls in the ring with them.

After the match the Legion of Doom stand tall in the ring as their manager slowly enters with a microphone in hand and a huge, disgusting, slimy, sleazy grin upon his face, looking like the cat who just ate the canary. His peeked over his black sunglasses, looking over both of his clients and nodding proudly.

Paul Ellering

You see what happens when you're patient boys and girls? With great patience, comes great rewards...if I had introduced these two men to you a month ago, the challenge which these men would have faced in getting to the AWA Tag Team Championships would be insignificant, the statement that these two could have made? Would have been minor league...and Paul Ellering does not want clients who play in the minor leagues! These men WANT a challenge, they WANT somebody to try and stop them...and personally? I'm going to love the entertainment that I'll be getting in watching all your teams try and fail to put MY Legion of Doom down! These men are machines of destruction...and they are under my control...at the click of a finger I could have them ruin every last team you have in your division AWA...but that wouldn't be fun, that wouldn't be enticing enough. I want to watch you squirm, I want to watch you writhe as you try so desperately to keep these men away from the gold that they DESERVE...only to watch each and every set of heroes you put your faith in get ruined and destroyed in ways they had only thought possible in their worst nightmares!

One of the behemoths stepped forward, out of the two painted up monsters in the ring, he looked the more "Normal" out of the two, if normal could even be used to describe him, at the very least, he had not styled his hair in a strange, dystopian looking mohawk like his partner had. This one just looked like a beast, an animal waiting to tear you apart.

Road Warrior Animal

The fact of the matter is, that NOBODY can touch the Legion of Doom!...You wanna' talk about gold? Yeah we coulda gotten Gold at Renaissance....but where's the fun in that? Where's the challenge? Where's the fight in an open invitation? We ain't ever been good at respondin' to invites. We're the kinda' guys that like to bust down the door and crash the party and that is EXACTLY what we did at Renaissance! We showed that NOBODY can touch us...but they're more than welcome to try...isn't that right Hawk?

The other monster of a man stepped into the picture, the one with the beastly mohawk and the wild eyes, he almost screeched out the first word that escaped his lips, like a Hawk, his voice was high and ear piercing and each word carried great imposing threat with it.

Road Warrior Hawk

WELL...wouldn't you just look at all the difference we made in just a couple of minutes! Everybody went from talking about The Midnight Express winning the belts...to talking about the threat that the Legion of Doom poses to the ENTIRE tag Team Division after we laid out both The Midnight Express and The British Bulldogs. If that's the best your company has to offer...than you better change your strategy 'cus we ain't like those other guys...oh no...as you can tell, The Legion of Doom are JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT...and it's gonna take somethin' special to stop us from gettin' what we want! OHHHHH WHAT A RUSH!

Bret Hart Vs Dynamite Kid

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Bret%20Hart%2088%20Alt_zpsam1ilnps.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Dynamite%20Kid%2085_zps5pdrxpvf.jpg

In what was a technical showcase between two legitimate and gifted athletes, The Hitman that had been hired by Jerry Lawler was now trying to prove himself as one that was worthy to be in an AWA locker room after garnering his contract. The Hitman had remained silent since arriving in AWA, not a word spoken in fact, nor were any exchanged with his opponent before or after the match, this silent Ice Man tried to capture The Kid in the same devastating Submission he had trapped Steve Regal in to try and finish, but luckily the experience that Dynamite had outmatched Bret's. The Kid had been in this company longer and knew the ropes just a little better, finishing Bret off with a Diving Headbutt.

Curt Hennig Vs Jesse Ventura

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Curt%20Hennig%2085_zpsmolpmyuw.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jesse%20Ventura%2085_zpsc1wwxnga.jpg

Curt Hennig unfortunately found himself the victim of bad place, bad time as he had not opted to take time off after his grueling match like Jerry Lawler had. While Lawler was taking a break, Hnenig insisted on having a match and due to the encounter with Jerry Lawler and the beating he took at the hands of the Mysterious Snake, Curt found himself unable to fight back as well as he normally would against the power of Jesse Ventura, Jesse picks up a win over the youngster, albeit because he;s a lot more exhausted than normal.

Respect was still given by the fans as they were fully aware of Curt's current situation and did not envy being in his boots.

You Can Call Me Jake...

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jake%20Roberts%2088_zpsl4pz2cr0.jpg

We fade backstage to see the dark, menacing figure that had become the face of the new threat that Curt Hennig was now facing. Jerry Lawler's masked bodyguard had found himself revealed to the world, and what was underneath was this dark, piercing, menacing pair of eyes that belonged to this mysterious, shadowy figure known only until now as "The Snake"

Jake Roberts

I think it's time we properly introduced ourselves, don't you Curt? I already know so much about you...how must that feel? To have someone like me know everything there is to know about you, to read you like a book...and remain nothing more than a mystery in your eyes, a shadow...lurking in the dark, a snake...ready to strike. Why don't we pass by the formalities Curt? You can call me Jake...Jake Roberts. Now I want you to repeat that name Curt, I want you to drill it in to your head...because by the time I am finished with you? It is the name you will be screaming in the cold dead of night, as you awake from your peaceful slumber, into the endless nightmare which will be your sad and painful existence...an existence which I will bring to you Curt!

Jake spoke softly, his low gravely voice sending shivers down the spines of all who were watching, with the slow, subtle raise of an eyebrow, his eyes stared through the camera into the souls of all who were watching and suddenly, fear took over the audience. This man was unlike any other they had seen in the AWA

Jake Roberts

I want to make one thing clear...I don't hate you Curt...I hate what you represent, what you remind me of...I hate the memories that you have brought out of the dark recesses of my mind. You see as ideas were floating around my head, as potential contracts were being delivered to my door, I just so happened to turn into one of those possible lines of revenue that were looking at me for a possible signing to their roster...the AWA and what did I see Curt? What was the image that I was forced to set my eyes on. Your father...Larry Hennig, introducing you to the world...do you remember that night Curt? Before it all went to hell? Before it all turned ugly? He seemed so proud didn't he? So happy as he waved you around like you were some personal trophy of his, a grand treasure...to be shared and cherished by the world of wrestling. He just pointed to you and with a beaming look of pride, told the world...without hesitation..."This is my son!" How did that feel Curt? I genuinely want to know...because when I looked at that? When I saw your daddy showing off his prize horse to the world...I felt a little twinge in my brain Curt...I felt a cold shudder creep down my spine as all of a sudden, every dark foreboding memory I ever had, every nightmare I tried to repress...every tear I ever held back...it all came flooding forward Curt! Because of you! You were the Jake that could have been...you were The Jake that never existed! The one that got the acceptance, the support, the pride...the love Curt...I won't ever know what that feels like.

The lack of emotion being shown as he spoke was astounding, it made fans unsure as to whether this was something he was creating as an excuse for his actions, or that these stories were genuine and he had become so maligned he no longer knew how to empathise with others....in a way he was someone to shed sympathy for...

Jake Roberts

You see....if there's one thing that I learned...it's that home...is where the HURT is! The only time I ever saw a smile on my father's face was when he was pounding an endless line of drink down his filthy neck. The only time I ever felt his touch, was when he was beating me to a pulp in the corner of my bedroom! The only time I ever saw him show love...no...I won't talk about that...all you need to know Curt...is that the man I had the displeasure of calling my father was a sick, deprived, cancer of a man...and I'd tell him that to his face, yet you want to be the one that plays the victim? You have it hard because you have all these expectations to live up to? God I wish I was in your shoes...expectations? No expectations were ever thrown my way. Disappointment, that's all I ever had envisioned for my future...disappointment and despair, the likes of which you will never truly understand!

Jake steps a little closer, slowly running his hands through his long, greasy hair, his eyes deadpan and piercing, focusing right center camera so there was no way that you could avoid them, a small smirk crossing his face with the talks of disappointment and despair, things he seemingly had in mind for one Curt Hennig

Jake Roberts

I never meant to let things get as personal as they did between you and Jerry Lawler...but every time I look at you it tells me what could of been and it HURTS! I see the boy I could have been...and it HURTS! I see the relationship I could have had with my father and it HURTS! It hurts like it did the first day he took the belt to me Curt...the first day I realised that daddy didn't love me...I fought long and hard to bury that pain Curt, to make it go away...and seeing you has just brought it all back, which leads me to believe that the only solution...is a purge...either Curt Hennig gets wiped out of existence...or we take the high and mighty Curt Hennig...and we bring him down to where I call home, the darkness, the shadows, the despair...and when the screaming in your head becomes unbearable Curt...and you get down on your knees to beg me for salvation. I promise you, it will be my greatest pleasure to provide you with that sweet relief. I know because I felt it too...and when we share that experience together...I think both of us will be the better for it...Trust me

Hogan Promo

We go back to the interview area where resident Interviewer, Gene Okerlund was on hand with one of his favourite wrestlers at the AWA as well as all of our own. The one and only Hulk Hogan who sadly was not standing with the strap wrapped around his waist and a controversy behind his match which has only lead to questions needing to be answered and a rematch looming in the air...

Gene Okerlund

Ladies and gentlemen it is with great pleasure I introduce to you, the man who was unfortunately ROBBED of a victory at Renaissance, the man who in many people's opinions, including my own should currently be standing as our current World Heavyweight Champion. Hulk Hogan, you were seconds away from victory when all of a sudden, an outsider, an invader whom for legal reasons the AWA will not name, interfered and cost you the match. Some are claiming that Nick Bockwinkel had involvement in this attack out of fear that you would walk away with the title. Now Bockwinkel has denied this but he is not exactly a credible source, the point is that right now, anybody could be a suspect in the organising of this invasion...Lots of questions are being asked and right now, what The Hulkamaniacs want to know, is what your thoughts are on this whole situation.

Hulk Hogan

LET ME TELL YA' SOMETHIN' MEAN GENE! It's just like everybody says, if the dirty air don't kill you, THE POLITICIANS WILL, BROTHER! And don't you doubt for one second that some dirty politician is behind the attack on Hulk Hogan and his Hulkamaniacs dude! I wish the Hulkster could come out here and tell all my little Hulkamaniacs who are asking the all important question "Who organized this? Who sent the outsider to interfere at Renaissance and push Hulkamania off the rails man?" I wish I could tell all the little Hulksters watching tonight and all of them watching at home that The Hulkster knew the answer, but right now? Sadly...Hulk Hogan is as confused as the rest of the folks here in the AWA. But although the Hulkster can't answer the all important question right now, I promise...to every Hulkamaniac watching here tonight, to every little Hulkster that ever bought a Hulk Hogan T-Shirt, to every little Hulkster who just can't wait to get their hands on a NEW Hulk Hogan Action Figure dude...I promise you, The Hulkster will find out brother! IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE HULKSTER FINDS OUT! He'll find this snake in the grass! I don't care if it's Nick Bockwinkel, I don't care if it's some crony in a cheap suit. I don't care if I have to go all the way down to the NWA Headquarters myself, me and my Hulkamaniacs on my back, charging down at the clad iron doors of the NWA to look for answers! As long as there is breath in body, as long as there is hope in my heart and as long as there are hundreds of thousands of Hulkamaniacs, screamin' my name...Hulk Hogan WILL get the answers...and as much as Nick Bockwinkel will try and avoid it...Hulk Hogan will get the Championship! WHAT YA GONNA' DOOOO OUTSIDER! WHAT YA GONNA DO, WHEN HULK HOGAN RUNS WILD ON YOOOOOOU!

Hulk Hogan Vs Blackjack Lanza

http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Hulk%20Hogan%2084_zpsd73vxpq9.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Blackjack%20Lanza%201_zpsxgvnvaxf.jpg

With a controversy to solve and the questions of a rematch in the air, The Hulkster was wasting no time with shenanigans tonight and cut off any attempt that Lanza would make to do just that. Blackjack Lanza put up an excellent effort against the Hulkster, but the need and desire for Hulkamania to get back on track was just far too strong to overcome. Hogan gets the win after a Big Leg Drop, so he can focus on the more important issue on finding out who organised this, why...and more importantly...if he could get a rematch against Bockwinkel

<p><strong>Favourite Match/Segment of the Night?</strong></p><p>

Jake Roberts, man. Jake Roberts. Geez. The Snake never really seemed to open up a whole lot about his personal history in his WWF run. I dunno, maybe it would have done him some good, or maybe the man was such damaged goods that all the openness in the world couldn't untie the knots a childhood like that would make in a man's mind. It's a new take on Jake's inner darkness here, a very plausible reason Roberts might target Hennig, and this feud is getting very personal, very quickly.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Least Favourite Match/Segment of the Night?</strong></p><p>

Nothing was particularly bad; the Hart/Dynamite Kid match didn't really advance any storylines, but it's essential exposure for two young talents, so it definitely served an important purpose.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Superstar of the Night?</strong></p><p>

Since I've already lauded Jake, The Hulkster came alive in this episode. It was reminding me of the "HOW MUCH FOR THE PLASTIC SURGERY, GENE?" promo that Hogan cut after the Earl Hebner referee switch in the Andre/Hogan match where the Million Dollar Man tried to buy the championship. Him going out and wrecking poor Blackjack Lanza was <em>exactly</em> how Hogan would have put an exclamation mark on things back in the day.</p><p> </p><p>

That Hennig/Roberts feud should be hot friggin' fire. Definitely looking forward to Curt's response. I'm also curious to see where Jerry Lawler goes from here; he was maybe the most compelling heel leading up to Renaissance, so I'm hoping he continues to be part of the AWA picture moving forward.</p>

Jerry will definitely continue having a major role. Having him take a few weeks off while I brainstorm his next storyline. Totally didn't expect The King to become such a big player so quickly in the AWA, because it took him some time in real life to get to where I have him in the dynasty. Like it was mid to late eighties when he had the title in AWA, right? When AWA was basically on it's death bed. He's basically ready for a Main Event Feud and I'm looking through the roster and possible new arrivals he could work with. I would totally consider him doing a program with Hogan but now is not the time nor the place for that. Always open to reader suggestions, if I can make them happen and make sense of course.

I have always liked Lawler personally. He was so entrenched in Memphis for so many years and didn't do a lot out stuff out of the Memphis territory. He won the AWA title if memory serves from Hennig when Curt went to WWF in 1988 and won the unification match with Kerry Von Erich December of 88 but then being stripped of the title in January 89 in payoff dispute with Gange from Superclash match with Kerry. His leaving left the AWA in the final death spiral, but that verdict was already decided years earlier.

<strong>AWA All Star Wrestling</strong></p><p><strong>

March 9, 1983</strong></p><p> </p><p>

With a whole boat load of controversy surrounding the events of AWA Renaissance, a multitude of questions are left unanswered, some of which Interim Head of Committee, Jim Cornette hopes to answer on our next edition of All Star Wrestling, will Hulk Hogan get his rematch? What about the outside invader? The NWA and WCCW continue to deny any involvement in the incident which seemingly leaves the AWA to deal with this themselves.</p><p> </p><p>

Meanwhile the Tag Team division has a new force to worry about, The Legion of Doom made their presence known and backed it up in their debut match last week, will their eyes be set straight towards the tag team titles and more importantly, will anybody try and step forward to stop them?</p><p> </p><p>

Finally, with a proper name to finally be given to the masked bodyguard who had been accompanying Jerry Lawler. Jake "The Snake" Roberts has shown himself to be a dark and mysterious figure here in the AWA, with a past that can neither be confirmed nor denied and a hatred for Curt Hennig that will see him unleashed his retribution for the pain that he feels. Will Curt respond to this dark forboding figure?</p><p> </p><p>

I will be interested in seeing why Jake has such issue with Curt.</p><p> </p><p>

Curt Hennig Vs <strong>Rick Martel</strong></p><p>

I'm calling for shenanigans here to cost a distracted Hennig to lose followed by a post match beatdown. Might be wrong on the call as it could be a DQ, but costing Hennig the match would be a sinister Jake like thing to do.</p><p> </p><p>

I would love to see Hulkamania further derailed here by da crafty Baron, but I suppose Hogan will get a rematch with the champ.</p><p> </p><p>

This time he went with the choice of an ugly mustard yellow. His covered Tennis Racket in one hand and a microphone in the other, his face beaming with inane amounts of pride.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Cornette</strong></p><p><strong> Ladies and gentlemen, it takes grit and character to be able to perform my job to the fullest capability and I am proud to announce to all you folks watchin' here tonight and all you folks sittin' in front of the tube, THAT JIM CORNETTE IS CHOCK FULL OF THAT! See I have an unfortunate challenge sitting right here in front of me? Am I cowering away, am I handing the issue over to the Gagne family? Am I perhaps giving you folks crossing your fingers for the return of Larry Hennig a glimmer of hope that you'll never see my face again? No siree! I have taken that challenge head on and I have created a solution that I think will be beneficial FOR EVERYBODY here that was involved in the controversy that unfortunately struck the main event at MY first event that I created here in AWA, which was Renaissance.</strong> </p><p> </p><p> The memory still fresh in everybody's minds, the outrage and despreate plea for answers and a solution were deafening. Fans were expecting the beginning of the era of Hulkamania and instead got shenanigans with no clear signs of who it was that orchestrated the whole thing. Bockwinkel was the number one suspect but his words last week cast doubt on those possible motives. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Cornette</strong></p><p><strong> Now for the first time in AWA history, since the infamous split in the sixties. I took it upon myself, as a representative of this company to visit, discuss and investigate the situation with officials at the National Wrestling Alliance AND at World Class Championship Wrestling. Now don't get used to hearing those words around here folks, that's just the unfortunate nature of this beast that has forced me to mention those companies on our TV slot here tonight. Both the NWA AND WCCW deny any knowledge of the invasion and as far as they were aware, the outsider in question had strict orders, as does every other member of the locker rooms associated with said companies, NOT TO APPEAR ON COMPETING BRANDS! That would include the AWA. So with neither side claiming responsibility or knowledge I put forward to them a proposal and after long negotiations and profit deals, I have managed to organise the FIRST EVER cross promotional match which will be televised HERE on All Star Wreslting, NEXT WEEK! We will see, the outside invade,r who I am now legally allowed to name as TERRY GORDY wrestling here next week, against the very man that he interfered against at Renaissaince, HULK HOGAN!</strong></p><p> </p><p> The fans rejoiced, for the first time it seemed, Jim Cornette had actually done something worth cheering about. Hulk Hogan was going to get his opportunity to enact revenge against that outside invader who we now all could put a name to for those that were not aware. Terry Gordy, the outsider from WCCW would be appearing on AWA television in what was a historic first time cross promotion deal in wrestling history. It was something you would not want to miss as an AWA or wrestling fan for that matter!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Cornette</strong></p><p><strong> Now on to the second matter at hand...will Hulk Hogan be recieving a rematch against Nick Bockwinkel for his AWA World Championship? It is with great displeasure that I announce to you fans here tonight, that Mr. Hogan will NOT be receiving said rematch.</strong></p><p> </p><p> The fans immediately turned back against Cornette after hearing that news, it was too good to be true that Corny had their best interests at heart.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Cornette</strong></p><p><strong> I will however, provide Hulk Hogan with an opportunity to once again become the Number one contender at our next end of month event in March, which has yet to be named. Hulk Hogan will be granted an opportunity to regain his contendership status by facing off against an opponent which I have HAND PCIKED from the AWA roster myself. After a lot of time and effort went into looking for the perfect candidate to take on Hulk Hogan, I believe that i can present to you fans tonight, the man that will be facing Hulk Hogan at our end of month show...please welcome...JERRY LAWLER!</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Jerry%20Lawler%2086_zpsvuuilgfr.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The fans immediately began throwing what garbage they could at the man that was making his way down the ramp, looking like the cat that had just caught the canary. Jerry Lawler, the man that had LOST his match at Renaissance was now suddenly being hand picked to face Hulk Hogan for a Number One Contendership opportunity. The whole thing stunk to high heaven of bias from Jim Cornette. Of course he'd pick another good old Southern boy like Jerry Lawler!</p><p> </p><p> <em>Lawler</em></p><p><em> You know something Jim? I can call you Jim can't I? After the disheartening loss that I saw against Curt Hennig, a disheartening loss which I need to remind each and every one of you blind mornonic yankees here tonight was caused by a FAST COUNT from some corrupt, probably backhanded, paid under the table official that wanted nothing more than to see your King, YOUR TELEVISION CHAMPION...face an UNRIGHTEOUS DEFEAT. I honestly thought to myself whether or not the AWA DESERVED a wrestler of MY caliber on its roster. I can assure you folks one thing...if Larry Hennig were here, you can bet your bottom dollar that I would NEVER have recieved this opportunity, which is why I wantged to comke out here and firstly, man to man, face to face, PERSONALLY THANK Jim Cornette for having the brain capacity to understand just what a commodity he has standing in the ring beside him in Jerry THE KING Lawler!</em></p><p> </p><p> The two shook hands as Cornette willingly accepted the personal thanks from Jerry with pride, causing the fans to recoil in horror and disgust at what they were seeing. This was the man that broke Larry Hennig's neck, this was the man you could say was RESPONSIBLE for Cornette being here in the first place and he was getting rewarded for it.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Lawler</em></p><p><em> Now as for YOU Hulk Hogan! You had a run of bad luck! It's sad, it's unfortunate and as I can attest to you...it happens to the best of us! But unfortunately for you Hogan, that luck ain't gonna change any time soon! I always was and always WILL be the rightful man to get the Contendership. For far too long I have been looked over and maligned! But now? Now the King gets his rightful chance to sit on the throne...and if you're the only man standing in the way of my destiny? Then Hulk? I'm afraid that leaves me with no other choice than to commit what these idiotic plebs would see...as the ultimate crime. I am going to do what Terry Gordy FAILED to do to you Hulk Hogan! I'm going to keep you down FOR GOOD. I AM GOING TO KILL HULKAMANIA AND TAKE MY RIGHTFUL PLACE AT THE TOP OF THIS COMPANY!</em></p><p> </p><p> <em>Because I'm Jerry The King Lawler...and you're not.</em></p><p> <strong>Rated A</strong></p><p></p><p> </p></div></div><div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42763" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>Bret Hart Vs Steve Regal</strong></span></p></div><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Bret%20Hart%2088%20Alt_zpsam1ilnps.jpg</span><span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Steve%20Regal_zpsqty1t6is.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> The silent Hitman struck again in his opening bout against Steve Regal. Regal being a man that too many underestimate, managed to get a few surprises over the young Bret Hart, but the calculated excellence of Bert Harts Execution could not be denied, tight, sharp wrestling holds, powerful strikes and suplexes, clever targeting of the legs and that final nail in the coffin. That young blue chipper we saw getting introduced to us by his father had gained a little edge to him without Larry there to guide him as to what to do with all that anger and frustration he now had in him thanks to Jerry Lawler.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Curt</strong></p><p><strong> You know, just when I thought I'd managed to shake myself loose from anything to do with Jerry Lawler...just when I feel as if I can walk away knowing that I've done my father pride. Lawler's pet snake of a bodyguard interferes and makes himself the new thorn in my side! Jake Roberts...you can spin a pretty sad story. Everybody was talking about it in the locker room last week, was he telling the truth? Was he just creating an excuse for all of his actions? I don't know Jake...you're a mystery to me...and I don't like that. I don't like what I see when I look at you Jake, but I certainly don't see somebody who has earned the right to challenge me for my Championship...that is what you really want in the end, isn't it Jake? </strong></p><p> </p><p> Curt held his Light Heavyweight Championship with pride, the once vacant belt was nothing more than an afterthought in the AWA a few months ago, but suddenly here we were, in the midst of a personal drama that had been created because of it. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Curt</strong></p><p><strong> You can spin all the stories you want of pain and sorrow and sadness, and if those things, those terrible things really did happen to you? I want to be first to offer my apologies and condolences...because I don't know what will help you fix all that Jake. I don't know what will save you from all of that...I don't know if anything can, but I can tell you what I do know...and that you're looking in place in turning to me for a solution to your problems. Beating me isn't going to stop the pain you say your father dealt to you. Getting my championship isn't going to erase any of those memories and it certainly isn't going to make any of them right all of a sudden. You want a match with me Jake? You earn it...just like I had to earn my match against Jerry Lawler. You remember that Jake? All those hoops he made me jump through? You could have stopped that Jake...at any moment if you really wanted to, but you didn't...because deep down you want everybody to be just as miserable as you, WELL I'M NOT BITING! Oh don't worry...you don't need to win three matches like I did Jake...just one that's all. One match at our end of the month show...and I'll give you what you want. Consider it repayment for what you did to me, but a word of warning Jake. I ain't the happy smiling kid I was when I walked in here. You and Lawler decided to test me...in ways I had never imagined. If you win and become the number one contender to my title? You better be good if you want to beat me...no Jake, you better be BETTER than good. This was the hospital room of Larry Hennig, who was laying in his bed with a neck brace on and beside him, Gene Okerlund who had been absent from commentary this week thus far and now it was understandable as to why.</p><p> </p><p> Mean Gene</p><p> Ladies and Gentlemen Gene Okerlund here, proud to be providing you with an EXCLUSIVE on the scene update to the health and well being of Larry Hennig. For those of you that do not remember, Mr. Hennig was the victim of a brutal attack at the hand of Jerry Lawler, the Piledriver heard around the world that broke Mr. Hennig's neck and landed him in this very hospital. After tenuous negotiating and pleas with the hospital from the Gagne family and AWA Championship Committee, the hospital has allowed us to provide you with this interview from Larry Hennig's room. Unfortunately, Larry has been instructed to remain in bed and is by no means to make any sudden movements with his neck, so we would like to warn any fans in advance the altered state in which you will see Mr. Hennig. Larry, first of all I want to say on behalf of everybody in the AWA, that we are all wishing you a speedy recovery and would love to hear how things are going here in the hospital.</p><p> </p><p> Gene had to lean in and provide the mic for Larry as he shifted slightly, trying his best not to move his head or neck, grunting in discomfort as he tried his best to speak directly into the mic. He sounded tired, but determined to speak.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Larry</strong></p><p><strong> Thank you Gene. Firstly I'd like to thank everybody that has sent me their cards, thoughts and prayers. The doctors say they've never had so much mail sent their way for one patient, so it makes me feel really humbled and happy to have such loving and caring people fans. As for my recovery, so far they've been prepping me for surgery which unless something drastic occurs will be scheduled for next month. After discovering the extent of the damage the doctors put me on a slow recovery program to ensure to the best of their abilities that the surgery will be a success. </strong></p><p> </p><p> Mean Gene</p><p> So after this surgery, will it be safe to assume that we will be seeing you back in the role as the head of Committee?</p><p> </p><p> Larry</p><p> Sorry if this comes across as bad news but not right away no. I've been told that another recovery period will be required to ensure the surgery has actually been successful and that my neck will not suffer any unwanted or unnecessary damage. I'd like to be able to tell everyone a time to expect me back, but right now it's just too soon to say.</p><p> </p><p> Mean Gene</p><p> Larry I think I speak for everybody when I say what Jerry Lawler did to you was a disgusting and depraved act of violence that we hope to never see again. During your absence, your son Curt took it upon himself to gain some sort of compensation for the attack. Have you gotten to see the match and what do you think of your son's journey in the AWA so far, what with not being able to see it in person?</p><p> </p><p> A wide smile could be seen creeping on the face of the tired, worn down, broken down man in the hospital bed. Even with everything he was going through right now, knowing how well his son was doing instilled pride in him.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Larry</strong></p><p><strong> I'm extremely proud of Curt for what he did, I was allowed to watch the tape of his match and I think it's safe to say that the nurses are getting worn out from all my requests to watch it again and again. I'd like to think that Lawler learned his lesson...but knowing Jerry, he'll paint himself as a victim and move on to his next target. I'm proud of Curt...and I just hope he has enough strength in him to not let people like Jerry Lawler force him to stoop to their level.</strong></p><p> </p><p> Mean Gene</p><p> Larry, it's been a real pleasure, I don't want to take up any more of your time but just know that we hope to see you soon and I'm sure at some point down the line you and I will get to do it again, only next time...without that darn brace around your neck. Look what it's done to you already Curt. What it does to everybody else...it poisons you...like a snake. It lures you in with it's siren song and just when you least expect it? It sticks it's fangs into you...it's made you foolish Curt. IT'S MADE YOU FOOLISH! It's made you think that every man that ever steps into the ring with you is only after what you're carrying around your waist. It's made you think that all anybody sees in you, is the gold that proudly shines your name on it's plate. Not me...oh no. </em></p><p> </p><p> Jake slowly shook his head, chuckling to himself as he ran his hands through his long, greasy, slick black hair, flashing a smirk to the camera. A man that was once silent and masked suddenly had a face and voice on him that all were finding themselves afraid of. </p><p> </p><p> <em>Jake Roberts</em></p><p><em> I'm a man with very little wants and needs in life Curt Hennig, in fact I can tell you right now...there's only one thing I truly desire in this world...and that's relief. Relief from the great pain that has been following me for the entirety of my god forsaken life Curt! But that is something that men like you fail to understand Curt....that is why the hands of fate have brought us together, so that I can SHOW YOU just how dark and deranged this world can really be...and in doing that to you Curt, I will find myself liberated from the pain...liberated anchor that has been dragging me down...down...down...into the bottomless pit of despair. </em></p><p> </p><p> Jake looked down to the floor, laughing to himself. Whatever Curt had done, it seemingly played right into the hands of Jake. The easy way for him had been thrown out of the window the moment Curt had addressed this snake of a man, he had unknowingly and unwillingly thrown himself into a mind game.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Jake Roberts</em></p><p><em> You want to turn this into a game? You want to make this into a chase? Cat and mouse? Is that what you're trying to play with me here Curt Hennig? You still look upon me as the silent masked bodyguard of Jerry Lawler and because of that, because of what he did, you think that by turning the tables on ME, by testing ME, that I will learn some bold and noble lesson?...oh Curt, you should know...I've already learned all the lessons I need in life...but you? There's still plenty more for you to learn and I will be MORE than happy to teach them to you! You want me to fight someone in order to get to you? Favourite Match/Segment of the Night?

I'll get to the Roberts/Hennig thing later, so let me say Jim Cornette and Jerry Lawler set up a fabulous angle. The idea of Cornette and Lawler being in cahoots, based on their southern wrasslin' connect, is a genius idea for the decidedly northern AWA. It adds a whole new aspect to Lawler injuring Larry Hennig - it wasn't just to get at Curt Hennig, or to make a name for himself. No, now the possibility arises that Lawler intentionally injured Larry Hennig to get him out of the way and clear the path for Jim Cornette to take over the head of committee role, which Lawler could then exploit. That's some diabolical heeling there, which continues to establish the King as possibly the scummiest heel in the AWA.

Least Favourite Match/Segment of the Night?

Hogan/von Raschke. Maybe it's because it's only 1983 and his colossal ego hasn't yet entirely formed, but I was surprised Hogan would let someone go over him, even if Hogan was protected and the win was clearly dirty. I figured it would have been another DQ victory for Hogan, but I suppose it's possible Hogan lost no momentum if you protected him. Still, von Raschke - at this late stage in his career - strikes me as an interesting choice for Hogan's first loss of the year. I can't imagine he'll have many more.

Superstar of the Night?

My love for Jake Roberts is well-established, so let me throw something at Curt Hennig, because you put into his mouth the perfect (if you weeeeeell) summation of Jake Roberts as a heel - the idea that as a heel, Jake Roberts seeks to make other people miserable because Jake Roberts himself is miserable. The idea that Roberts is consumed by his inner darkness, and when he looks out and the world and sees other people who aren't drowning in their own misery, he feels like some kind of dark evangelist who is compelled to make other people feel just as awful about themselves and the world as he feels. To me, this is what makes the Roberts character so dangerous. Championships matter only in as much as taking them from people who truly care about championships hurts those people. He's like a heat-seeking missile, except instead of heat, he hones in on joy, kindness, and trust because he cannot feel those things himself and thus envies (and therefore hates) those who can. So, Curt Hennig being able to, in my opinion, accurately spot the source of Roberts' motivation is a powerful statement of his own intelligence and perception - and smart babyfaces are the best babyfaces.

Any Ideas For Potential Improvement?

You've only got so many hours of TV, but a little more development of the lower midcard/midcard scene might be nice. That said, heavy focus on the main event product is appropriate for the AWA product and the time period.

<p>Just wanted to say that you're doing a GREAT job, imo, for this being your first dynasty iirc. I've only seen a handful of AWA shows, as it was out of business by the time I started watching wrestling regularly around '93. But I know most of the major names and have read plenty of reviews and interviews about their 80's stuff. </p><p> </p><p>

I love the names you've signed, and I'm glad you resisted the temptation to go out and sign ALL the future top guys. As far as other guys I'd like to see brought in, it would be Brody and Kerry Von Erich. I'm assuming you have a working relationship with WCCW and NWA? Maybe a Freebirds Invasion?!?! And possibly some of the more well known Japan guys for short term deals.</p><p> </p><p>

Anyway, I look forward to what you have brewing. Cornette, Jake, Lawler, and Curt have all been exceptional in the way you've built and presented them. Also, Hogan and Bockwinkel are really well done. As others have said, I'd like to see one or two more lower card feuds presented, a couple more tag teams, and a handful of journeyman jobbers. I'm sure that will all come with time as you gain more exposure and perhaps pick up a b-show. </p><p> </p><p>

My only real "gripe" so far really is that although he's probably close to retiring early due to health issues, but Jesse Ventura was so charasmatic that I'd like to see him get some promo time, instead of just being a JTTS. Maybe a Body Shop type show to showcase his mic skills and charisma, while only wrestling part time? I also feel like Heenan and Bock should be a slightly bigger part of the show, but there's only so much time you have to plug these guys in. One or both doing color commentary for Hogan/Lawler matches would make sense.</p><p> </p><p>

Once again man, awesome job. I always feel like I'm trying to tell people how to book when I make suggestions, but it's just things I think would make the show better. I'll be following either way though. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Your last card was another good show and your doing well with the main stories you have going.</p><p> </p><p>

You need Jake "the Milkman" Miilimun and who can forget the great Tom "Rocky" Stone as the go-to jobbers of the AWA. Dennis Stamp would be another good choice.</p><p> </p><p>

Maybe add a brief in game segment each week where you spotlight a specific person (either interview or clips of a house show match) where you can start developing some lower card guys. That might be a way to show an incident where you can then book a match on the month end show or can slowly build a lower card guy with taking too much show time.</p><p> </p><p>

Just a thought based on comments. Keep going strong Bock</p>

I've taken a several month hiatus from my long-term WCW '88 game, although I'm still playing TEW '13. I wanna make the jump to '16, but this is by far my best and most fun dynasty so if I can just get to Starrcade '90, I think I'll be set lol. </p><p> </p><p> But yes, the lower card spotlight is a fantastic idea; one that can at least separate the young prospects from the generic jobbers. I always try to have at least 2 on each side of the face/heel spectrum, no matter company size.</p>

Now Curt had other issues to worry about, Jake Roberts, the once masked and silent bodyguard, now spouting dark mysterious lines about the future that Curt Hennig has in store for him. On top of that, Curt wanted to be a fighting champion. He had a Light Heavyweight Championship to defend, it was his duty and whilst he refused to outright hand Jake Roberts the match he wanted, he gave Jake a match that would lead to a future encounter if Jake were to win, which led to the matter at hand. I think rather than simply handing a championship match to the man that was once the LACKEY for Jerry Lawler. That I would provide opportunity to the fresh young talent and show that the Tag Team division? Isn't the only one looking at revitalisation! You and the man you're going to face, excluded from the invitational so you can fight each other and show ME that you deserve this match! AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel and his manager, Bobby Heenan!</p><p> </p><p> Bobby Heenan</p><p> "Let me take the opportunity if you will champ, to THANK the AWA and to THANK JIM CORNETTE PERSONALLY! For letting us have front row seats for what will be a HISTORIC occasion! Tonight, my client, the ILLUSTRIOUS Nick Bockwinkel and I have FRONT ROW SEATS to witness IN PERSON...THE DEATH OF HULKAMANIA! My Birthday has come early boys and girls!"</p><p> </p><p> Bockwinkel</p><p> "Ladies and gentlemen, mark this glorious occasion, undoubtedly a first in the wrestling industry. The first ever televised cross promotional match that has not occurred within the iron clad confines of the National Wrestling Alliance. I would like to take this moment to reiterate that Mr. Heenan and I had NOTHING to do with the outragous and indignatious invasion which occurred at AWA Renaissance and while Mr. Heenan and I have already aligned ourselves with Mr. Terry Gordy to win in what I am sure will be a wonderful exhibition. Our sincerest and most heartfelt apologies are sent to Hulk Hogan who was maligned from the top all the way back down to the bottom, at the hands of that man, a brutish ape, whose intelligence may even be dwindling beneath that of Mr. Hogan's, if such a level of intelligence is even possible!"</p><p> </p><p> Bobby Heenan</p><p> "He's DUMB and he's DANGEROUS Nick! I LOVE HIM! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM TEAR HOGAN APART!"</p><p> </p><p> The match began with Hogan coming hot out of the gates, he wanted revenge, he wanted it badly. After all, there standing opposite him was a man who had cost him everything he had worked for, everything his Hulkamaniacs were supporting him for. Hogan started off with a steam rolling pace. Showing that Terry Gordy would not have an easy night ahead of him, but to say that he just bowled over for everything that Hogan threw at him? Oh no. Every strike received a counter strike, every hold was a test of strength that neither man wanted to lose. </p><p> </p><p> Bockwinkel</p><p> "We are watching insurmountable feats of effort to out perform each other from these two towering titans of sheer stupidity here Bobby!"</p><p> </p><p> Bobby Heenan</p><p> "All brawn and no brains! That's why neither man will ever find themselves in the Heenan family!" </p><p> </p><p> Inevitably an upper hand was found. Terry Gordy, the big brute from down south eventually began using his girth and size as an advantage, cementing himself stance wise to the mat as Hogan tried to lift and slam him, but to no available. That break neck speed that Hogan started out with was catching up to him, making it harder to overcome the size of Terry Gordy, the momentum truly came in his favour as he charged Hogan into a corner, his hands wrapped tightly around his throat, he was choking Hogan illegally in the corner as the ref began his count.</p><p> </p><p> 1</p><p> </p><p> 2</p><p> </p><p> 3</p><p> </p><p> 4</p><p> </p><p> Gordy let go at four and as Hogan collapsed to his knees to regain his breath, Gordy backed away, hands in the air as the ref was badgering and warning him he would not accept dirty tactics like this. The ref quickly lost his sight of Gordy as Terry took a run at the downed Hulk Hogan and delivered a running knee shot to the Hulksters face! </p><p> </p><p> Bobby Heenan</p><p> "HOGAN'S DOWN! HOGAN'S DOWN! THIS IS IT BOCKWINKEL! THIS IS THE MOMENT I'VE BEEN DREAMING OF! THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN DREAMING OF!"</p><p> </p><p> The fans began to rally behind Hogan out of desperation ever since Renaissance the Hulkster has been having a run of bad luck, somebody somewhere had a bone to grind with him and were sending these invaders after him in an effort to take him out of the picture. First in the form of Terry Gordy and now with revenge slowly slipping out of his grasps, the fans didn't want to see doubt cast over their favourite wrestler! Gordy slowly pulled Hogan up by his hair, propping the Hulkster up on his knees. He spat at the face of Hogan before stretching his hand out and delivering a hard, gun shot sounding, disrespecting slap to Hogan's face. He reached his arm out again, a second gun shot sounding slap rang out across the arena. Gordy pulled his arm out a third time, closing his hand up into a tight and illegal fist...HOGAN REACHED OUT AND GRABBED IT!</p><p> </p><p> Gordy's eyes widened in disbelief as Hogan shook his head manically, slowly but surely returning to his feet as the fans rejoiced in jubilation, Gordy tried to strike with his free hand but it made no impact on the Hulkster as he was Hulking up from the support of his crazed fans! He threw back Terry's clenched fist and pointed at him!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>YOOOOOU!</strong></p><p> </p><p> Hogan retaliated with some of his own shots, pushing GOrdy against the ropes and with his second wind suddenly surging through him, Hogan whipped Gordy to the other side, but as Hogan turned around ready to deliver the boot, instead of seeing Terry Gordy running at him, he was met with a vicious, clothesline that came literally out of left wing.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p715/Bockwinkel83/Buddy%20Roberts%2083_zpsfwqkwcno.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Bobby Heenan</p><p> "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HE DOING HERE?!"</p><p> </p><p> Nick Bockwinkel</p><p> "We highly advise the AWA Cameramen to get the cameras off of this gentlemen right now! He has not been authorised to participate in this exhibition! We repeat, he ahs not been authorised by the NWA or WCCW to be here! To avoid legal issues, Turn the cameras away now!"</p><p> </p><p> After a few moments of hesitation, the cameras did just that, for those watching at home, all they got were glimpses of the crowd looking on in concern, the sounds of vicious and violent movements in the ring, the banging of the mattress, the screaming of the audience, mothers covering their children's eyes in shock and horror. Eventually the arena was full of hate filled, disgust filled boos, as audience began pelting the two outsiders with garbage. When the camera finally returned to in ring as the two left, we saw Hulk Hogan laying in the ring with blood dripping from his forehead, the two had cut him open. He may have won by DQ, but right now The Hulkster wasn't looking so good...and another invader lead to this mystery becoming more complex.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rated B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <strong>FINAL RATING: B+</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> Authors Notes: So I think The Body Shop is our first ever A* Segment since starting the Dynasty. I knew the charisma of the two would be a good combination. Didn't think it would be A* good lol. Expect Jesse Ventura to be hosting more Body Shops as ways of highlighting feuds, upcoming matches and even introducing new stars in the AWA.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Favorite Match/Segment</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

That Body Shop segment deserved the A* 100 rating, man. You even managed to get Ventura's diction and his constant dropping of the "g" at the end of words with "-ing". Things like The Body Shop were so important for heels, because with an equally delusional heel show host setting them up, you could get the heels to really explain their point of view. I've managed to score one 100-rated promo in my diary, and there's definitely an element of luck to it - but given the off-the-charts charisma Ventura and Lawler both had, especially in that time period, that's definitely raising your odds of getting that kind of promo rating.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Least Favorite Match/Segment</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Calling it "least favorite" is far too harsh, but I thought Dynamite Kid - who was a shooting star in the ring, so bright but burned out so quickly (we'll leave his personal life out of this) - getting a win over a man who beat Hogan relatively cleanly not too long ago was a bit of an eyebrow raiser. It made me wonder if Dynamite Kid might be going places on a much faster schedule than I would have otherwise thought. I have to assume his performance skills relative to many AWA members is very high, so it's just a matter of his popularity catching up. I wonder if anyone on commentary mentioned the Hogan thing?</p><p>

</p><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">

Superstar of the Night</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

I can't just keep saying Jerry Lawler every single time this question comes up. Let me give some props to Hogan - this set up, where Hogan gets DQ wins when he's double-teamed, only to eventually overcome and conquer the heels? Classic 1980s Hogan booking. It took WWF to the top. It might do the same thing for the AWA.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Potential Improvement</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Things are humming, and I think you've found your groove. You can focus on typos and that kind of thing at this point, because story-wise, I think you're on a roll.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Anything Else?</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Road Warriors lurking in the background is intriguing. In the words of Mark Henry's theme song, somebodies gonna get they wigs split when the LOD decides to lay waste to the division. Given your ability to refine promos to the point where you really capture the diction of the people involved - as you've managed to refine Hogan, Bockwinkel, Heenan, and Lawler - I'm psyched to see what you wind up with as you refine the motor-mouthed, heavily-Southern, yet still absolutely intelligible Jim Cornette.</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>AWA Begin Investment In B Show</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The AWA is looking to expand their horizons on our television screens. It has been a slow build up for the AWA, but the first three months of 1983 have without a doubt been successful ones for them. With only a one hour time slot to fill in their All Star Wrestling Contract, an expanding roster of young up and coming talent and a Tag Team and Light Heavyweight Division which fans are requesting further dedication to. The Gagne Family and the AWA Committee came together to decide what the best course of action would be.</p><p> </p><p>

After multiple meetings on the matter at hand, the conclusion was reached that it would be best for the fans, the wrestlers and the company itself to look into expanding and creating a second show with Tempo Television. So far details on the show contract have not been discussed and are yet to be brought to the table</p><p> </p><p>

"We're hoping to get the show up and running at the beginning of May. This gives us a solid month of planning for what we want this show to be." Co-Owner Greg Gagne told us "We are an alternative product and we are proud of that. We are glad that the past few months of our programning has entertained our fans to such an extent and we want them to know we are listening. This new show was created because of them. We want them to see the new talent we have in the pipelines for AWA, We want them to see all of our divisions within the company healthy and thriving. We want them to pick their favourites out of the sea of fresh young faces, we wnat them to shape the stars of tomorrow. That is what we hope our second show will achieve."</p><p> </p><p>

To further make the show one that has been created for the AWA Nation of fans. The AWA Committee have printed off newsletters for their subscribers to vote on a name for the new show.</p><p> </p><p>

AWA Newsletter</p><p>

March 22, 1983</p><p> </p><p>

The AWA Nation is on the edge of their seats as we near our end of month show which has been dubbed "Die Trying", lately you never know what's going to happen in the AWA so allow us to remind you folks that may have missed out.</p><p> </p><p>

The Invasion Continues</p><p>

Nobody will forget the controversial ending to the Renaissance MainE vent for quite some time. It seemed as if the Era of Hulkamania was about to be rushed in when all of a sudden things too k a turn for the worse. Terry Gordy, a wrestler who does not have a contract with the AWA, a wrestler who isn't even on the pay roll of the AWA or isn't even associated WITH the AWA made his presence known and cost Hulk Hogan the match. Ever since then speculation has been circling about why this invasion happened and more importantly who sent him. The NWA and WCCW continue to deny any involvement or knowledge of the incident and are "as shocked and astounded as the AWA are". A cross promotional match had been allowed by the NWA as compensation for the spoiled Main Event, where another unsolicited, unpayed and uninvited worker, Buddy Roberts, an ally of Terry Gordy's decided to interfere in a match where Hulk Hogan was going to get his revenge on Gordy for ruining his chance. With a Number One Contender's Match on the way against Jerry Lawler. People are adding The King's name to the list of suspects that may have hired these brutes to try and take down the Hulkster. Will they continue to wreak havoc on the AWA, or will their madness be brought to an end? Jim Cornette is expected to address the AWA Nation this week and Hulk Hogan will have an exclusive interview with Gene Okerlund to give his insight into the situation.</p><p> </p><p>

The Light Heavyweight Challenge</p><p>

A six man Light Heavyweight Battle Royale was announced for AWA Die Trying. Curt Hennig wishes to show himself as a fighting champion and build prestige for the belt. Looming in the shadows however is a possible new number one contender for the title in Jake "The Snake" Roberts. This slithery man of mystery has dark intentions and if he manages to get through Rick Martel at Die Trying? We may just see him get the chance to make those intentions a reality. Expect to hear more from Jake on this special edition of All Star Wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

Oh, What A Rush!</p><p>

Since their last appearance, The Legion of Doom has stayed quiet, which is troublesome. Like an earthquake their tremors start off small and subtle, before building into a great crescendo. With a rematch between The Midnight Express and The High Flyers to happen at Die Trying, Quesitons loom as to who the number one contenders to the tag titles will be. The Legion of Doom aim to show their dominance once more on All Star Wrestling. Against Hand Picked Opponents of Course.</p><p> </p><p>
