THE ZEN STORYLINES

The Melancholy of Halloween Knight:

The master of F.E.A.R, Halloween Knight was once the undisputed dark lord of the ZEN Temple, leading his malicious band of brutal baddies to conquest after conquest over whatever forces for good stood against them. However the kinks in his unholy armor began to show in 2014, when Massacre, his prized muscle, was defeated by Devilfish in a brutal Loser-Leaves-Zealand match, and again at the end of the year where Necromancer, his trusted leiutenant, faced the same fate. With two of his loyal minions exiled to Japan, Knight became desperate and his latest title reign was one marked by his desire to keep the ZEN Master Belt at all costs.

However, it all came to an end when Pumpkin Jack captured it from the Godfather of Ghouls, rebuffing Knight in the ensuing rematches and sending the former champ into a seeming depression. At Way of the Thief, instead of the promised final battle between the two, Halloween Knight only appeared in two brief segments, bartering a mysterious tome from Guru Vishni in the middle of the show and being seen studying it with a mighty fervor at the end of the show. What is this grim grimoire? What power could it hold? What plots are cooking up inside the stewpot that is Halloween Knight's mind? Only one way to find out...

Blood In The Water:

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!" Has become a familiar battle cry from one Cyanide in recent months as the once calm and collected sadistic strategist for F.E.A.R has utterly snapped, bent on revenge against the man responsible for running his friends Massacre and Necromancer out of ZEN: Devilfish. The multi-coloured Master of Mischief was instrumental in the crippling and ultimate disbanding of F.E.A.R along with a little help from the likes of Man O'War and Pumpkin Jack, but it was his personal defeats of Cyanide's comrades that put him at Number One on Cyanide's hitlist. At first Cyanide was all business with his attempts, but with Halloween Knight telling him their partnership was officially over, the Merciless Mat Masochist became a Merciless Mat Madman, convinced that by destroying Devilfish, he can somehow bring F.E.A.R back to prominence.

Devilfish, for his part, has been doing his best to make Cyanide see reason, that there's a better way, but so far it's all fallen on deaf ears, forcing the aquatic avenger on the backstep as he tries to deal with a foe with absolutely nothing to lose...

The Clown Wars, Episode 3, Revenge of the Miffed:

Clown-With-Attitude is a lot like a mirrored image of Cyanide if one thinks about it. While Cyanide has gone from stone-cold sadist to maniacal mauler, C-W-A has slowly turned his anger towards Vertigo into a burning hatred that'd make most comic book villains blush. For almost a decade now, C-W-A has sought nothing but the destruction of ZEN's highest flyer through his own evil methods, quite like if someone crossed Pennywise with Jigsaw. But war has a way of improving the fighting techniques of both sides and Vertigo is more on his toes than ever, one has to when your opponent has graduated from Whoopee Cushions to Bear Traps. The war may be escalating to a point where one or both men may have to kiss ZEN goodbye, but can anyone truly stop it?

A Warped Kind of Harmony:

Warp-Jump and the Knights Temple have been at one another's throats for as long as most can remember. The two teams of the best and brightest young talents ZEN has to offer have never been able to truly prove dominance over each other, but recently the addition of Guru Vishni's guidance has seen Warp-Jump reclaim the Harmony titles and with what appears to be a loose alliance with Hallowarped's mentor Halloween Knight, the more devious duo may finally be able to win out in this rivalry.

The Wondrous Wanderings of Kalliope Woodchuck:

Kalliope Woodchuck burst onto the scene in early in 2015 and made her mark by being just the sweetest girl you could imagine. Making friends wherever she went, singing songs that attracted cute woodland creatures (Some of which weren't even native to New Zealand), and having just a bit of an undefeated streak throughout the entire year. Unfortunately, this has drawn the ire of Pink Spider and Trevor Feather, whose 'Outer Beauty' (if you can call it that) seems to be no match for Kalliope's charms and well...better outer beauty. This has lead to the two miserable mischief makers attempting various schemes to break Kalliope's undefeated streak and her spirit along with it, with degrees of success ranging from 'Failure' to 'Humiliating Failure'. The kicker is, Kalliope seems oblivious to the whole thing, believing the dastardly duo are just a silly couple of pranksters that are as much her friends as everyone else...look, we said she was nice, not clever.</div>

"Nobody making a 2014 mod?"

Cyanide:

"Do what?"

Knight:

"I mean, he had commitments in his homeland. We're getting not just a booker but a referee, a Coastal Zone Referee...from the Coast...in a Zone!"

Cyanide:

"Hey, I think that's the guy!"

Cyanide points at man coming down the nearest escalator, luggage at his side.

Knight:

"How can you tell?"

Pee-Wee hops off the escalator at the last instant and drags his wheeled luggage behind him, walking right up to Knight and Cyanide...and goes right past them.

Pee-Wee:

"Now where do I find these ZEN fellas?"

Knight:

"He walked right past us..."

Cyanide:

"Oh boy, we got ourselves a real winner here don't we-"

Knight:

"WHAT A MASTER OF MIND GAMES!"

Cyanide:

"Sure. Boss, your master of mind games is gonna be halfway to Ashburton if we don't stop him."

Knight:

"Ahhh, you're right! Making us chase after him, what a pro! Oh Mr. Germany!"

Cyanide:

"Germaine!"

Pee-Wee:

"Hm? Oh hi!"

Pee-Wee turns around and trots over to the two masked men.

Pee-Wee:

"Hi there, I'm Pee-Wee, guess I missed ya there."

Knight:

"I have one of those faces!"

Cyanide:

"Mr. Germaine-"

Pee-Wee:

"Please, call me Pee-Wee, it's a real pleasure to be here!"

Cyanide:

"If you'd please just follow us we'll take you to ZEN headquarters. Don't mind our security detail."

Pee-Wee:

"Chocolate Chip Pancake here."

"Got it, and don't worry up there, sugar, I know you want Miso soup."

A shuriken buries itself in the table next to the waitress.

"With grilled fish. Be back in a minute."

Knight:

"So Pee-Wee, tell us about yourself."

Cyanide:

"Yes, how did you come to invest so heavily in our company? When did you know you wanted to book for a wrestling company?"

Pee-Wee:

"Well...for quite a while actually..."

Flashback~

We see Pee-Wee Germaine as a toddler in monogrammed footie pajamas, a blanket in one hand and a teddy bear tucked under the opposite arm.

"Dada, I wanna wun a westwing show."

"No."

We fast forward to a six year old Pee-Wee in a sailor suit, hopefully holding up a Sam Strong action figure.

"Daddy, I wanna run a westwing show."

"No."

Fast forward again, a pre-teen Pee-Wee sits astride a horse in full polo gear, twirling the instrument of the game in his hand.

"Pa-pa, I would so very much like to run a westwing show."

"No."

Fast forward one more time to find Pee-Wee fully grown and in his referee gear.

"Y'know, Dad, I'm already employed by one, so why can't I just run a westwing show?"

"That's it, we're firing your speech coach!"

Back to the present!

Pee-Wee:

"Y'know, it's just a thing I've wanted since I was just a little guy...torunawestwingshowdangitwhyIcan'tIsaythatword!?"

Knight:

"Very well, I judge him worthy! He may book alongside you, 'nidey, for a full year! Afterwards *I* shall be the judge of whether he may stay or go..."

Cyanide:

"Really, that's the criteria? How much he wants to do it?"

Knight:

"Well I really wanted to open a wrestling promotion, and then I did, so it's not a very strange thing to go by."

Cyanide:

"...point."

"Alright, boys, here's your Waffles, your steak and eggs, your pancakes, and your...hon, we've been over this, the boss doesn't like you eating in the raters!"

Accompanied by Molly Cuddle, the duo pose for the fans and appear ready for a double backflip off the turnbuckles until their theme is cut off by that of the Ghost Hunters, who follow their cumbersome and rather silly looking equipment down to the ring. The duo appear to take severe umbrage with Super Zero, claiming loudly that he's some kind of spectre, scaring Senior Official Steven Yale, who flees the ring and pushes his apprenctice, Pee-Wee Germaine, out to officiate in his stead. The match is quick and action packed, as the Hunters swiftly attempt to isolate and work over Super Zero, though Strange's definition of 'working over' the Expressionless Wonder is trying to suck him up into his equipment which honestly resembles a weed whacker at this point. Hyde, for his part, is more no-nonsense with his own brand of slams and clubbing blows that seem effective until Zero kicks Strange's device into Hyde's face and makes the hot tag to Vertigo. Without the benefit of the beating they put on Zero, the Ghost Hunters are hit by the fresh Vertigo like a sand castle by a tidal wave, the Artist of the Airways ducking and weaving past Mister Hyde to knock Strange off the apron and smash Hyde to the mat with a pele kick before hitting the Radar Legdrop for the pin and the win. Despite Spider constantly seeming to belittle Kalliope's skill as a wrestler throughout the match, the youngster was bound and determined to a clean match with her devious opponent, dazzling the audience with high-flying moves and some impressive technical acumen for someone in their rookie year. Spider for his part was determined to get in every shortcut he could, though it ended pretty badly for him as his various attempts at pulling a dirty win seemed only result in him being the receiving end of a pratfall due to his own overconfidence. The devious duo's attempt at a count out victory was cut off however when both Legend and Killer B made it into the ring and countered another ambush and started to brawl with the champs! The match was a hectic melee as Steven Yale's blindness really made it hard for him to keep track of just who was legal until all four went spilling out of the ring. Things only intensified from there as Yale's count proved the backing to a flurry of acrobatic assaults from every single man on each team. Finally Toady held up Legend for a belt shot from the Guru-only for Legend to move out of the way at the last minute and Toady get smashed by the Gold! Legend quickly smashed Guru with his Legend Killer, only to turn right into a low blow and Superkick by HalloWarped, who in turn found himself in the crosshairs of an Asai Moonsault from Killer B that left all men down and unable to get back in the ring, leading to a count-out draw! DOUBLE COUNTOUT: NO WINNERS Of course the ending bell did nothing to quell the fury of either team as they ended up brawling to the back as the crowd seemed both excited by the action and furious at the end. The two turn a corner to find a shadowy hallway with a sinister wooden door at the end with a bright 'EXIT' sign shining overhead. Both: "..." Vertigo: "Alright, Miss Thing, how about empanadas then?" Vertigo steps into the hallway, hopping over a bear trap left on the floor, Molly does the same, landing daintily on one foot. Molly: "Nah, I actually had those with Kalliope last night-tripwire." Vertigo kicks a tripwire spread across the ground and steps back in time for two massive mallets to smack into each other before him. The couple split up and step past them without breaking stride. Vertigo: "And you didn't tell me? For shame, Ms. Cuddle, for shame." The two jump across specially marked tiles on the ground, avoiding blowdarts being shot from holes in the wall. Molly: "It was girls night, though, you know how great it is to have another girl in the company now? We had a blast, played some minigolf too." The duo artfully matrix dodge a pair of saw blades that erupt from the ceiling. Vertigo: "Minigolf too? You spoil her!" Molly: "No such thing." The Merciless Mat Masochist rolled into the ring and sit curled up in the center, rocking back and forth and gibbering to himself further until Devilfish's music hits and Cyanide is snapped directly out of his unfocused madness into extremely focused anger as he ran towards the ropes to scream his typical refrain of 'IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT' at the bubbliest of all babyface as it takes everything apprentice referee Pee-Wee Germaine has to keep the torturous technician from doing the same as Warp Jump did just one match ago. Once actually in the ring and with the bell rung, Devilfish is actually quite capable of avoiding Cyanide by himself, unleashing his own brand of acrobatic offense on his more grounded opponent. Flying maneuvers and springboard attacks keep Cyanide on the backstep in the early goings but one trip to the well too many sees Cyanide take control and torture Devilfish with a combination of diabolical submission holds and rage-fueled strikes. Devilfish's support from the fans seems to swing momentum back in his favor when he counters a sleeperhold into a jawbreaker, but an attempt at Fish Finger Shuffle is avoided by Cyanide into a Skull-Splitter! Cyanide appears to have the match won but instead of going for the pin, he instead unleashes a terrifying series of knee strikes to the back of Fish's head. Repeatedly Pee-Wee tries to get Cyanide off of his opponent but eventually this only gets him a Skull-Splitter for his efforts, causing Steven Yale to come out and-upon being updated on what just happened-disqualify Cyanide for his blatant disregard for the rules and the official's health! Cyanide's calm and measured response to this is to chase Yale to the backstage, meaning we're going into our main event with a barely conscious referee and a half-dead Fish in the ring. WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: DEVILFISH</div></blockquote> Sparks: "Unbelievable tactics by Cyanide, that kind of conduct has no place in the wrestling ring!" I know your challenger tonight thinks so. Poor Shaolin, finally rising above the pack to challenge for your belt only to be so easily cut down...or has he? You see Jackie, since your dual defeats of myself I came to a realization that I needed to take a step back, calm down, look at the big picture...you and your friends caused my Empire to crumble, my Revolution to be stalled, and my colleagues to retreat from the battle I knew was righteous. Tonight I begin to rebuild and my recent acquisition is the first step on that path...shadows are so very useful, aren't they Jack? Jack is reeling and the fans are in despair but a dodge and a leg sweep get him back in the game, letting him rally with high-speed acrobatics and a flurry of fluid chain grapples that leave HANZO reeling until he bails out of the ring and looks for guidance from Knight. The Godfather of Ghouls merely cackles as Jack goes to launch himself off the apron and gets a swift kick to the head for his troubles. HANZO uses the outside environment to his advantage, throwing the champion into everything he can: Ring posts, barricades, the announce desks. When HANZO isn't using some kind of dirty tactic, he's immobilizing the champion's attempts to fight back with a pinpoint assault on Jack's vitals in the form of a well placed heart punch or a kick to the joints. Looking to finish the champion off, HANZO rolls Jack onto Sparky and Dustin's table, climbing onto the apron and looking for an Asai Moonsault to put the champ out of commission but Jack manages to roll out of the way at the last moment, causing HANZO to crash and burn! Jack manages to get into the ring and looks to regroup even as HANZO is left in the wreckage of the table...until Knight raises an arm and demands HANZO stand and HE DOES. No one can believe this turn in events as HANZO walks to the ring, seemingly ignoring the effects of what just happened though there's a noticeable limp in his step...He enters the ring and goes to outright choke Jack on the mat as Pee-Wee tries to pry him off. HANZO is back in control and things look bleak for Jack as HANZO beats on him on the mat with swift and torturous kicks before hauling him up and tossing him into a corner and charging in with a Yakuza kick that Jack-DODGES! The champion swiftly attempts a rollup that HANZO rolls through only to be caught with a lightning fast kick to the head by Jack! Jack drags himself back into a corner, catching his breath as he stares at the prone form of his opponent...and again Halloween Knight raises his arm and HANZO is back up! The monstrous shinobi stalks towards Jack who barely manages to get onto his feet in time for HANZO to go for another stranglehold until Jack headbutts him right in that demonic mask! HANZO is stunned enough for Jack to hit the Orange Bowl Sit-Out Shiranui and get the pin before whatever Knight is doing can rejuvenate his minion. Jack rolls out of the ring, noticeably taken aback by this new development even as HANZO sits up and seems to want to go after him again until Halloween Knight enters the ring and grabs him by the scruff of his neck, calming his charge and staring down Jack as the champion backs away from the ring. He holds his chest with a look of surprised joy on his face as everyone inside applauds his 'good for a small company' talent at booking.

Pee-Wee:

"Yeah, those guys seem to really not be having fun over there..."

Knight:

"Indeed, there is a distinct lack of fun to be had when war is afoot...well aside from Prank Wars, those are quite fun wars. What was I talking about again?"

Pee-Wee:

"I do ok job?"

Knight:

"Yes, great! Now my minion, I want you to look upon my glorious lucha kingdom and see if there's anything that would require changes..."

Pee-Wee:

"Changes?"

Knight:

"Yes, I didn't go along with that kickstarter reward just so you could bang the doldrums, my boy, I want brand new ideas! I want to challenge the norms! I want...uhh...well I'd probably want to put down a list of goals for you on like a piece of paper or something but darn if I didn't forget my pen. Ah well, it's a limiting game mechanic anyway. WE'RE HERE FOR WHIMSY!"

Pee-Wee:

"Hmm...chaaaanges...chaaanges...can I get back to you in the morning? I see a tiramisu over there with my name on it."
